A few tips from another cycle commuter, who commutes a similar distance to you:

  • Hub dynamo and lights are an absolute must. The rolling resistance is negligible, you never have to faff around with batteries, and a good front light can be ludicrously bright if you want it to be.
  • I would look for a bike with a relatively upright posture - but this is a personal preference. Insist on riding around outside for a bit on any bike you look at more closely, and get a feel for what kind of posture you like best. Any halfway competent bike shop will be adapting the bike to you when you buy it (eg moving the handlebars up and down to get the posture you want), so definitely take advantage of that.
  • Mudguards.
  • I would personally skip the forward suspension, unless you will be cycling over rougher paths regularly. Consider getting a saddle suspension (the parallelogram suspensions are best).
  • Hub gears are probably best for you. The land where you live is really flat, and hub gears are essentially zero-maintenance. In general I would prioritise maintenanability over performance - if you’ll be using the bike every day, you want something that is very robust and doesn’t need to be repaired every week.
  • Rear luggage rack, so that you don’t have to carry your bags/books/etc in a rucksack.
  • I quite like the power of hydraulic rim brakes, but they may be a touch overkill for you. A good set of V-brakes is probably sufficient.
  • Puncture-resistant tyres are a godsend. I’ve used Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres for a while, and they will roll over anything without puncturing, but are fairly heavy. The “regular” Marathon tyres are probably a good compromise.
  • Helmet goes without saying.

If (like me) you’ll be commuting all year, then you need some good foul-weather clothes. I can particularly recommend:

  • A waterproof but not necessarily warm jacket, with underarm zippers which you can open and close for ventilation. When the weather gets colder just wear a fleece under the jacket - easier than buying two jackets.
  • Windproof gloves. For the coldest months you may need a second pair of insulated gloves (I just use my skiing gloves for that).
  • Balaclava-type headgear (example). These are super comfortable for cold or rainy weather. I wear mine from about November to February.
  • Light, waterproof trousers. I keep a pair rolled up at the bottom of my bike bags if it looks like it might rain, and when it does, I just pull them over my normal trousers.

My last bike was from VSF, a local bike manufacturer, and I was very happy with it. I personally wouldn’t spend less than about 700 € on a bike which you’ll be using for 100km a week. Cheaper bikes tend to use lower quality components, which wear out (or just break) faster.

Starting from the upper right hand corner and working my way around in clockwise direction.

Pens – 3 Disposable Bic pens – When it comes to pens I leave them everywhere. I leave them in class, the lab, the machine shop, etc. Because of this I buy them in bulk and then just carry a bunch of disposable pens with me. They are cheap so if I lose one or someone asks to borrow one I don’t worry about getting them back. I like these pens because I find they are comfortable to write with, wont break from me carrying them around or treating them like shit, and have a pen cap to prevent them from making a mess in my pocket. Why no pencils?  I haven’t found a mechanical pencil that is both cheap and will survive in my pocket. If you know of one that fits those two requirements let me know in the comments!

Highlighter – Used for marking up academic papers I am reading. I’ll usually carry one or two with me but I keep several different colors at home for heavy markup. The colors I like carrying on me are odd colors, not yellow, like green and pink because they let my markups stand out from other peoples markups.

Sharpie – Used for marking up things that pens and highlighters can’t like metal, ceramics, and sleeping lab mates.

USB Drive – I don’t use it all that often thanks to free services like Google Drive and Dropbox but  everyone in a while when you don’t have access to other options these can really save you. For example like when you need to print out a final report that’s due in 15 minutes and the internet is down. (That example definitely hasn’t happened to me)

Letherman Skeletool – The Skeletool is a good all around multi-tool. It has a knife, pliers, wire cutters,/strippers, screwdriver (both flat an Philips), and a bottle opener.  It’s slim so its easy to carry without giving up a lot of functionality.

Timex Weekender Chrono – Useful for telling time if durring both meetings and tests when you cant check your phone. Taking a peek at your watch durring a meeting is unnoticeable unlike when you check your phone which can be considered rude.

TI-84 – The second most useful tool in my entire engineering education after a pen. I’ll often use the calculator instead of Matlab or Wolfram Alpha for doing homework that require simple computations just because I’m so familiar with it that I can operate it extremely quickly just from muscle memory.

Planner –  It’s useful for writing down assignment due dates and meetings. Everyone has a different way of organizing events/work an I find havving a written copy helps me visualize where everything is.

Muji Recycle Paper Bind Notebook – Useful for taking notes in meetings and they can fit in my back pocket

Allett Slim Bifold Wallet – It’s an ultra thin bifold wallet that I love. It’s so thin I never even notice it in my pocket. I can sit on it all day without being uncomfortable. My last one became worn out after two years and I bought another one immediately. I highly recommend them!

Keys –  For opening doors/stuff. Note: I just grabbed some unused keys for this pic and put them on a carabiner.

Google  Pixel – It’s taking the photo. Lately its mostly been used for snap chat

I have an Allet Sport wallet with a tan leather on the exterior. I picked it up on eBay. The leather is a little lighter in color than than what they sell on their website now. I don't use it 100% of the time, but it's my go-to wallet when I carry cash. I just ordered a red one for my partner yesterday, actually.

You might want to check out their new venture, Mule Carry (they have a link on their website). I actually talked to them about it. They're using veg tanned leather and a new nylon interior that's just better looking overall. Slightly more expensive, but much cheaper than Belroy :)

I've never owned a Belroy, just a little too pricey for me. However, I did check out a brand called Ikepod, which I got on Amazon. They are basically Belroy clones, so if that bothers you, you'll want to pass :) I ended up returning the wallets I ordered from them, but only because I was going for the thinnest wallet I could possibly fine (And AllEtt is just thinner). But, the quality seems really nice, and they get really good reviews. One of their models is a lot like the low down. I don't know if you're up for looking on Etsy, but there are some really great leather craftsmen and women on Etsy. I'm eyeing a couple different slim kangaroo leather wallets, actually, given how slim and durable Kangaroo leather is supposed to be.

These are the two I have my eye on:

One other wallet I really like is by Vaultskin. In the USA, the Manhattan is the model, but there's international, too. I actually own this one too (lol, I like wallets). I haven't used it a ton, but it's wearing very well, and the reviews are excellent. Let me know wht you go with!

u/pyotrthegreat · 6 pointsr/EDC

Truthfully I'd just recreate what I have, as it would almost entirely fit inside the budget:
SS Jotter, I used this before switching to a TT Shaker, it is still fantastic.
Leek, been thinking about upgrading but still fantastic and the alternatives are way more expensive.
SF 348 I got the unlabelled BLF variant, and it is fantastic. Sleek, small, and bright.
MOTA Pocket Tool One of the card tool variants, I've used a few of its parts, but will radily admit that on these not everything is useful.
Flowfold This holds everything listed above, and does so without increasing the volume of my pocket, and making everything quieter and easier to pick up and go with.
Cable Key Ring Great, because it is large and thin, so I have my keys and car keys and USB on here. I tried a Keydisk mini, but found it still rattles against the car key, is fairly bulky, and cannot hold the USB. May try one of the new Orbitkeys next.
USB Drive, goes with the keys, I actually have a SP J80 32, but for some reason that one has increased in price.
Bifold Wallet The one I currently have is very similar, but I have no idea what it is called, a basic bifold.

So, this budget covers everything save the watch, which I didn't leave room for, because downgrading from a pebble would be sad, and getting one would be the entire budget. My choice to recollect everything I have mostly indicates how happy I am with the set that I created.

Here's a list of my usual EDC:

u/GL1207 · 3 pointsr/EDC

I'd recommend this package from Amazon: Victorinox Tinker and Classic.
It's a great set of tools that allow for really good flexibility. Swiss Army Knives are great knives for starters and for experienced users. They're durable, fulfill many tasks with their tools, and very compact for their functionality. It will also help you determine whether or not you want a dedicated knife for more focused tasks.

And an added suggestion for a new wallet: Big Skinny.

u/printer_setup · 2 pointsr/BuyItForLife

Distil Union - Wally Bifold - $59.99 I have owned this wallet for ~7mos and have loved it. In one slot I have 7 credit/gift cards; in the other slot I have 3 IDs, 3 insurance cards, and 4 business cards, and I have 6 US paper bills in the clip. It's ~3/4" thick right now, which may seem thick I think, but compared to nearly 1.5" with my old wallet, it's a significant improvement. I find it's definitely comfortable in the front or back pocket. I've given it as a gift three times since I've received mine, and I would highly recommend it!

u/fog_2 · 1 pointr/EDC

I carried this for a long time and it was great (although I'm pretty sure it was not actually RFID blocking if you're wanting that. My work badge scanned everytime through it): https://www.amazon.ca/Hammer-Anvil-Blocking-Minimalist-Genuine/dp/B00N9OPMMU/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1541655297&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=Anvil+wallet&dpPl=1&dpID=51b-kLcU2XL&ref=plSrch

Recently upgraded to a Trayvax Ascent and absolutely love it. It's slightly thicker than the one I linked above but it's also more narrow. The metal on it makes it feel incredibly sturdy and I love the weight to it. Not suitable if you use cash often.

Good luck with your search!

Some popular options around here:

  • Magpul Daka $15 - A nice, inexpensive option for a very slim wallet.

  • Herschel Charlie $20 - A very slim wallet, mostly for cards, but can hold cash as well. RFID blocking. Comes in a multitude of patterns.

  • Recycled Firefighter $30 - Very popular slim wallet. Made of recycled fire hoses, very tough-should last a lifetime. Holds 4-8 cards and cash.

  • Big Skinny Slimline $25 - Just your average, classic Bi-fold wallet. Slimmer than most other options in this style.

  • Vaultskin Chelsea $25 - A nice, slim, leather wallet. RFID Blocking is always nice these days. And if the Chelsea is not quite your style, then Vaultskin also has a bunch of other styles in quality materials that may be to your liking. The Manhatten is another popular one.

  • Ridge Wallet $65+ - A bit more pricy option, but very popular. Made with premium materials, and has a classy design. very sleek, and it'll work with cash or cards. You can also find some knockoffs on amazon that will do the same thing at a much lower price point.

Well Gospy55! We have a love for max brooks, gummies, sunglasses, and xbox games! My favorite on your list would have to be this
because those are some sweet looking glasses! On my list.. these because no one at work gets my nerd jewelry and I love it. lol I chose the items I chose because I also see you are a musician and I used to study sound engineering, as well as work for a record label. However, I think most people have music in common so I went with the sunglasses and gears of war because we are stylish fun gamers :)

Flowfold! Made locally, lifetime warranty... great BIFL stocking stuffers... this one: [Flowfold Minimalist] (http://www.amazon.com/Flowfold-Minimalist-Pocket-Holder-Wallet/dp/B00DBBHCXI/ref=sr_1_3?m=A3HATQG6WVECRJ&s=merchant-items&ie=UTF8&qid=1449667779&sr=1-3) I buy and use for gifting gift cards... cool little envelope for a gift card and then it's useful on it's own after. :)

u/Mert7 · 3 pointsr/oculus

I'm good on connectors, my main 3 screens are taking up all my display ports, I gotta move my t.v. off the HDMI and use a DVI adapter for that to make room for my Rift.

As far as the stand goes, I'm kind of hoping that bezel and gap between center and side monitor will be enough, other wise I'll get scissor stand, I can wait for prime shipping and just lay camera down when not in use in the mean time.

By keeping face plates clean I think you mean the face gasket?
Some people have been using face masks, especially people prone to sweating like my self. A face mask looks easier to clean than a face gasket, though I may get one too for comfort reasons.

The hard part of prep for me is finding a way to mount my hotas either to my chair or desk properly so they don't move when I'm in the Rift. Aside from that I think I'll just need some double sided foam tape for my Leap Motion and a usb extension cord, then I'm set.

My favorite wallet that I'm pretty sure is vegan friendly. Made of recycled plastic bottles. Super thin too.

u/jfalc0n · 1 pointr/Vive

Well, it is kind of like how a candle wick pulls the wax up towards the flame. Yes, it means moving it elsewhere --think of it as a "head sock"

I've been indoor karting before where they require you to purchase a balaclava before wearing their helmets, because it keeps them from getting all sweaty and smelly.

I've already ordered 2 of them from Amazon, should receive them tomorrow (ordered because I sweat doing small things, it's very hot down here and I'm paranoid now about others' getting sweat damage).

I remember them working well when I was karting, so I am hoping it will work fine for VR. BTW, I ordered 2 of these from Amazon.

As long as I don't forget to take it off before going to work or visiting the local bank, everything should be copacetic. I'll let everyone know how it works, wish me luck. :)

u/Jingy_ · 2 pointsr/bicycletouring

No good way for someone else to be able to answer this, because everyone is different, and everyone's personal gear/cargo load/bike set up will vary.
My suggestion would be take some practice runs in the clothes you intent to wear(and with the new tires should you get them), and get a feel how much the heavier more restricting clothing, etc, effect you.

Best "estimate" I can give you to go on is to say that for me personally with heaviest clothes I wear during winter riding, and with my rough condition tires on, etc, that my average speed goes down by 3 - 5 mph, and I stop to rest about twice as much.

But, again, that's total winter riding, freezing temps set up. If it's less harsh and you can get away with being less bundled, then it won't have nearly as much affect on you.

OH, another note though. Gloves man. Make sure to have some decent gloves because cold weather riding is harshest on your extremities. I've never cared for "mitten" style gloves, but last year my sister got me a pair of half-finger glove/mittens like these, that to my surprise have turned out to be perfect for my riding needs.
And for your ears, this type of ear-muff-thing is perfect for using with a helmet

u/ThisIsWhatICarry · 153 pointsr/AskMen

I'll interpret "guy stuff" as "EDC stuff".

u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/PKA

They have the Radix One wallet found here.

I personally didn't hear it mentioned on the show, I think I may have missed it, but after seeing it on the sub I believed it and bought one and it's fucking great.

It's like 1/4th the size of my wallet & it's smaller than you'd think. Only issue I guess could be that if you don't have enough cash there is a chance it can slip out, I had 2 5's slip out in my pocket somehow. So I put a couple extra 1's in there to make it harder to slip out. OR you can put cash in with the cards, I'll probably do that next time as it looks cleaner too.

edit: Also I might try one of these soon.

u/cbsx01 · 4 pointsr/minnesota

International Wolf Center in Ely, MN?

Not sure if you're going to be writing or needing to use your fingers but a good pair of mitts will keep you warmer than gloves.

If it's windy and you're out for hours on end make sure you have a good hat and you might want to consider a balaclava and ski goggles.

Make sure the boots can accommodate the wool socks or maybe even another pair under the wool socks. Sucks when you can't feel your toes.

Edit: MN boy moving to SC in a year or two. Should I sell the snowblower before I move?

OH! I'M FINALLY USEFUL IN THIS SUBREDDIT!

Bought this wallet/credit card holder maybe 8 years ago, still in amazing condition. Minimalistic approach. Forces you to throw away the shit you don't really need.

Allett Wallet

Left Handed Kiridashi

Iphone 7 in Alphonse Mucha 'Luna' Case

Lumintop Pico with paracord fob

Ti Key Hanger with library card, free Frosties, House key, car key.

Edit: Bandana - McDonald's giveaway at a charity event I went to.

I wanted to experiment. I was curious to see what the least knife that met most of my needs could be. Found this kiridashi for $7; it's even left-handed. Kiridashi are like a craft knife - used for marking, detail work, and simple cutting. They are usually ground single bevel.

I combined it with the least flashlight that met enough of my needs. 90% of the use is cleaning up after the dog on midnight walks, looking under furniture, in cabinets, etc.

It will be interesting to see how the next few days go.

u/Edgar_Allan_Rich · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

I fucking love this thing. Two years in it almost looks brand new and I can Costanza the shit out of it without spine damage. Took it swimming a few times and it dries in no time. Truly a thing of genius.

u/davepsilon · 1 pointr/skiing

Its legitimate for someone to decide they don't want to wear a helmet while skiing (except I think for under 18 in NJ). However I'm going to judge them on their decision. If they were my friend I would encourage them to wear one for everything but backcountry low angle snowfields :). It's too easy to have a collision with another skiier or to find variable conditions in bounds. If you were my friend here is what I would tell you about your list

  1. Helmets are not very uncomfortable. Your helmet was very uncomfortable for your head. I'm sure I could find a hat that would be uncomfortable for you too. Here are a few ideas: wear a helmet without earflaps AND a hat. Wear a helmet without earflaps and separate ear muffs like http://www.amazon.com/Degrees-180S-Black-Fleece-Warmers/dp/B006U1EM66 Or just try on a few different helmets before you buy one.

  2. Stop taking your goggles off your face. Never take your goggles off your face and leave them on top of your head. If you don't breathe on them and don't sit them on your forehead they won't ever fog up.

  3. That's pretty annoying. You should probably buy or make a helmet sack. You can start with one of those drawstring backpacks you get for free every once in a while.
u/GoodBadBot · 3 pointsr/kickstarter

Agreed. I just lost my last wallet and was searching for a minimalist wallet. I would have passed this by for a few reasons:

  1. Looks like it's the same thickness regardless if you have 1 or 6 cards.
  2. If I have cash, where do I throw it?
  3. $30 for a wallet in this market is a tough sell.
  4. Gotta be honest, it's not terribly attractive
  5. What happens if I have more than 6 cards (which is totally reasonable, I have an ATM card, license, AAA card, Tesla key, my health savings account card, my health insurance card, and usually three normal credit cards)

I just purchased this and I don't see what the MACH 1 does better, and I see a lot that it does worse. This one's 2/3 of the price, I can get it in two days, it has two "pockets" for cards and a 3rd pocket for cash, coins, or a key.

I hate poo-pooing other's ideas, but I feel like you may want to re-examine the problem you're trying to solve here. Why is your solution better than others?
u/moshimo28 · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

Just picked up the Vaultskin Chelsea wallet last month and I've been loving it. Leather feels nice and premium. It's a minimal wallet (I only carry 5 cards + ID and $20-40) but I love the "pull tab" feature that lets you access your cards quickly.

I LOVE my Slimmy from Amazon

I've used mine daily for 5 years now and it's still working great.

Dopp Regatta 88 cost me $18, and it's awesome. It's my first front-pocket wallet, and I love it. It also ships via Amazon Prime.

u/altalternatealt · 13 pointsr/onebag

Nomatic Slim is what I use every day. About as slim and minimal as you can get. I keep about 10 cards and an emergency $20 bill folded into 1/4 to fit in the little pocket, but I can fit 4-5 bills when I occasionally have to break that $20. Might be a little too minimal for some, but I love mine.

u/Sandradayoconnor · 2 pointsr/frugalmalefashion

I love my Hammer Anvil card case. It's slim, minimalist, cool, and still holds everything you need. May not be as high class as the one you're looking at, but it works great and I got it for about $11. http://www.amazon.com/Hammer-Anvil-Blocking-Genuine-Leather/dp/B00N9OPMMU/ref=sr_1_18?ie=UTF8&qid=1452610642&sr=8-18-spons&keywords=hammer+and+anvil+card+case&psc=1

I'm looking for a new wallet. The one I have I got when I was 14-15. It's a trifold biker wallet that at one point had a leather medallion sewed to the front with the S&W logo. Its been thru hell and has been repaired a bunch. The time to replace it is now.

I like this one and REALLY like this one.

I need something slim, leather, nice looking, but hopefully not $90. I carry about 8 cards, spare key, and 5-10 bills.

Any good ideas?

I've had that wallet for a few years now and I love it. It's not waterproof, but it's pretty tough, it's been through my washer at least a couple times.

Each of those slots will hold 2-3 cards. I keep my ID and door badge in the slot on the money clip side. The money clip can hold 10-15 bills securely.

I did a video on a bi-fold which is pretty light and slim. The other two wallets visible at the beginning of the video are the Saddleback front pocket wallet and the slimmy front pocket wallet. I use the Slimmy most often, its a great thin wallet.

I'm using one of these right now and I really like it. It's very slim though. If I carried anything more in my wallet, it may not be able to carry it. As is, I'm really quite impressed with it.

Before that, I was using a Radix One which was pretty slick and pretty cheap, but could be hard to get cash in and out of.

Not sure if either one of those will really be what you're looking for, but I've liked them.

I tried a wallet case from Ringke, but didn't like the bulk and really was unable to fit much into it. I ended up with this wallet: http://www.amazon.com/Flowfold-Front-Pocket-Holder-Wallet/dp/B00DBBHCXI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1406667841&sr=8-2&keywords=flowfold It fits my pocket very well and can easily be in the same pocket as my phone or keys.

u/RoroCoco · 1 pointr/AskMen

Slimfold minimalist wallet. It is a little pricey vs the very very similar knock off you can find if you search for "slim wallet" on the A--zon Its coming up on 2 years now and shows no signs of wear or damage. DL, 7 cards, rarely a few bills. Super slim and great.

I had Metal wallets with bands but they were destroying jeans so I swapped to this and have been very happy.

They also make a double size one that holds cards vertically four across that makes a nice organizer for cards you don't carry but don't want to lose or would fit in a purse for women lurkers.

If you don't want the goggles you can also look up just normal diffraction glasses cause that's what I use, although they don't stay on when you're headbanging but it doesn't really matter. Just know if you get a really nice glass pair they're heavy. My favorites are like these https://www.amazon.com/Rainbow-OPTX-Intense-Diffraction-Glasses/dp/B00T8QSS7Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1493652433&sr=8-1&keywords=diffraction+glasses cause they're quality diffraction but not heavy/nice enough to where you're blown if you lose them

  1. These sunglasses, because after too much, you're gonna need them the next morning.

  2. This relates, because after I use it, I'll need the riddle item to get rid of the ashes left.

  3. What goes better than a man with the riddle item? If he has a well groomed beard, too.

  4. This is the fastest starfighter in the Rebel fleet, therefore it can really book it.

  5. It can also be called a foot locker, and these go on your feet. Ta-da!

Bonus: This shirt relates, because Rockets blast off from Cape Canaveral. :D

I've been pretty happy with this one, might want to check it out.

I've seen a lot of people complain about magnetic money clips, but this thing is extremely practical and I haven't had any issues. My roomate liked it so much he bouth this other one.

It's great. Other than some marks from my keys rubbing against it, it looks a nice as day 1.

I like the Big Skinny Mini Skinny. Tough to find it in stock on Amazon though. Awesome price at $10.

u/ithrow6s · 4 pointsr/bulletjournal

I use a Lihit Lab pouch.

There are loops in back to attach it to your belt, and some rings on the side so you can use a sling with it instead. (Sling not included.) There is enough space in the central pouch to fit my approx 3/4" thick A6 fauxdori, a flat smartphone, my slim wallet and keys. It does have a pen holder, and you can comfortably fit two pens in there if they don't have large diameters. For example, I can't fit anything else bit a bic in there if I also put in a Lamy Safari.

It does get bulky if you put items that aren't flat in there.

I actually really like this solution, haha. I'm using this one from Amazon and it's essentially just an elastic band but I can separate license/insurance cards from my CCs and it's held up surprisingly well for $12.

u/funzel · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

I actually just switched to their leather hybrid wallet, from this Dopp super slim that I had been using for 2½ years, because I legitimately needed to hold more cards (I still have and love the Dopp). What is crazy, is that if you have more than a few cards, the Big Skinny is actually significantly lower profile. Not only is it thinner, but it doesn't print in my back pocket like the other one did.

u/sg77 · 2 pointsr/churning

I like the Allett Slim wallet since it's very thin (due to the different layout of cards, and the material). Though, that's more for a daily driver to put in my pocket. For keeping cards at home I got a business card case, something like this.

u/terabitman · 1 pointr/CGPGrey

u/BlurryBigFoot · 2 pointsr/Gifts

I actually have this one from Big Skinny. Love it, I don't care very many cards though so it works perfectly and I don't even notice it's there. It's not leather but the same company makes many versions of fold open and just card holders.

http://www.amazon.com/Big-Skinny-Mini-Wallet-Black/dp/B00487749G/ref=sr_1_25?ie=UTF8&qid=1418084288&sr=8-25&keywords=big+skinny+thin+wallet

It has held up for over two years in my back pocket every day.

I used a razor blade and removed the big skinny rubber piece to make it even thinner.

Well I always lean towards slim card wallets, I was carrying this for the longest time. Right now I'm carrying something a bit on the silly side. I recommend either option

u/Overdrive_Ostrich · 1 pointr/churning

My wife and I did 6 months in South America followed by 6 months in SE Asia with only a 46L Osprey Porter pack each. Someone once asked how we packed, given that went everywhere from the peaks of Patagonia to the beaches of Bali. I told them "we packed like we were spending a week in San Francisco."

As for wallet, I got this front-pocket wallet that worked well. All I needed was ID, CSR, Schwab checking card for ATM withdrawals, and some cash spread throughout various pockets.

This winter, I've dropped the purse and am only using my winter coat pockets. I carry:

  • tiny slim wallet for a few cards http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N9OPMMU/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (ID, CC, office card, insurance cards, transport card etc)

  • loose change if I have some

  • phone

  • in ear headphones

  • a pen

  • keys

  • too many receipts (temporary)

  • occasionally my kindle

  • chapstick

When better days finally come back and that I won't have pocket space anymore, I'll reverse back using my previous tiny cross body purse. I love it, it's small, pushes you to only take the minimum, it doesn't hurt my shoulder, and it doesn't hang out my arm uncomfortably when I have to pay or look for something inside (i.e. keeps both my arms free).

Might be a good idea to look into something like the Radix Steel. It is an RFID blocking wallet and very slim. Noticed that your card has a chip.

u/unprotectedsax · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

I've got a Slimmy hehe. I've had it for atleast a year. I love it. I don't really have a lot of shit to carry around so it's perfect if all you have is a couple of IDs, buspass, debit card, and a couple of bucks. It's so slim. I like skinny jeans and I can barely see it in my pocket.

u/joeldamole · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

Have a look at the Wally series from Distil Union. The Micro (link) has a bit of room for cash; I'm rocking the Sleeve (link) and its doing well, but not really practical for cash (especially big British banknotes)

u/JackTR314 · 6 pointsr/LifeProTips

I bought this wallet a while ago, and downsized what I keep with me. It fits in my front pocket along with my keys perfectly. If I'm wearing tighter pants, it goes in my back pocket, but its so thin that the effect OP is talking about is minimized. I also realized I didn't use about 75% of what was in my old wallet at all, let alone on a daily basis.

So, I had a Big Skinny, and a couple other slim billfolds for years. But I always had a problem; if you cleaned up your wallet and took some things out, cards would start to fall out. And since the cards are held with the opening to the top of the wallet, they could fall out when closed.

Reached a peak this summer when I lost an Amex card when it just slid out. Pissed me right off.

So I ponied up for one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TXP8IQG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and it is wonderful. Notice how, when the billfold is closed, the cards cannot slide out. Lovely. Slim, looks good, holds quite a lot.

Recommended.

Not to be snarky, but why wouldn't you use a wallet? There are thin ones for your ID's, a couple bills, and such, that take up almost no space.

This is what I use (and no, it doesn't really block anything of concern, as my garage pass works with it being placed inside), but it holds my 3 ID's, a credit card, cash, AAA card, medical insurance card, and a few business cards. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N9OPMMU/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If you lose your phone and your ID's at the same time, it's worse than losing one, and your phone probably comes out more often than your ID.

Anyways, just a friendly suggestion of keeping keys, ID/bank, and phone, in separate spots. If you lose one thing, you might be ok while you replace the other. If you lose two or more at once, you'll be one unhappy person.
