I'm a list maker so here's my list

  • 1 Boppy, she's 8 months and we still use this thing

  • Rock n Play
  • Zip up swaddles + muslin blanket. The standard swaddle never worked with my daughter nor did the velcro one. We had to double swaddle her with a muslin blanket and then zip her up in one of these just to keep her from hulking out
  • Swing - every baby is different but the swing was a Godsend for us, we ended up spending $140 on one that plugged in and it was worth every penny. I don't know that I'd register for one because you can find really nice ones for $40-50 on online yardsales and since they're only used ~4-5 months they're in great condition.
  • play gym for baby
  • changing pad
  • baby medicines/saline spray/nose freda. You tell yourself you'll never use it but you will and when your 3 month old is sick in the middle of the night because they can't breathe you'll be grateful you have that stuff.
  • we have an Eddie Bauer travel system, I like it ok and seems pretty good quality
  • high chair - I wish I had registered for one, you won't use it for a while but they can be pricey
  • a bath seat, don't spend money on an expensive tub. The minute my daughter found out she could sit up it was game over.
  • bath toys!
  • bathing supplies, towels, soaps, and this shampoo my daughter came down with a case of cradle cap overnight, this got rid of it. She's used it at least every other night since 6 weeks and we're still using it at 8 months.
  • one toy for every age, my daughter had no interest in toys until around 4 months. These are easily her top 3 favorites: little people this is her favorite toy right now, she loves putting the people in the bus and taking them out. This V-Tech Drum she loves this thing, she can hold the pieces in her hands perfectly, she likes to hit the drum, and when we place the pieces in the holes she likes to push them through. this elephant toy it rattles, crinkles, has rubber for chewing, which makes it an amazing toy to take while traveling or going places. An honorable mention would be any musical instrument toy, we have shakers, bells, and other musical toys for her to play with and she loves them. Board books, she likes to flip through the pages. If you register for a jumper just go for the inexpensive one from Fisher Price that folds up easily, I bought a Jumperoo and she loves it but it's big, in the way, and doesn't get enough use to really validate the space it occupies.

Things I would not register for:
  • Clothes, you think that if you put it on the registry that people will buy what you want but they wont.
  • blankets, you'll get so many blankets. You'll use all of them at one point or another but unless you want everything to match perfectly I wouldn't bother.
  • receiving blankets - I registered for one set and ended up getting 4. Don't get me wrong, I used all of them but probably could have handled just the 3 that people picked up for me off registry.

Okay FIRST! You should know, you can play any faction in Armada, Empire VS. Empire, Rebels VS. Rebels, Rebels VS. Empire.

Also the Thrawn expansion won't be available for another couple of months. Probably end of November - end of December.

If you want something to counter Thrawn's ISD Chimaera that really depends. This is a point game, you can have five Corvettes or one STar Cruiser, it's up to you. Do you mean a ship of a similar size? Then there's the Home One Cruiser and Liberty Cruiser, but there's also the Profundity Cruiser coming out with Thrawn. I feel you should also know the Chimaera will come with inferior cards, the regular ISD comes with the normal ISD-I and ISD-II cards. You won't have a fun time playing without the ISD-II card. I suggest finding a way of getting one.

Someone asked this a couple days ago. I'm just going to copy my answer over, you might find it useful.

Is this on a budget? Or just wondering what to get first? I'll link everything I name to Amazon, just so you can see what they look like and to see the rough pricing. You might have to change the url to your respective country's though.

It might look like a wall of text but I'm very brief on each ship here. The bottom will give you the best explanation. Please feel free to ask any questions about the various ships. I own at least one of each ship I name and have used them all at least once.

You could first invest in Squadrons. Rebel Fighter Squadrons Expansion Pack I, and Imperial Fighter Squadrons Expansion Pack I. Then there's also the Rogues and Villains Expansion Pack which includes ships for both factions. Such as the Millienium Falcon and Slave I.

For ships, it all depends on what you want your fleet to work as. Want large capital ships? Go for an Imperial-Class Star Destroyer, and a Calamari Cruiser, to which there are two options. The Home One Cruiser and the Liberty version. Easiest way of differentiating the two? Home One is slower and fires from it's flanks, Liberty is faster and spews out its attacks from it's front hull. All three are of course super fun to play, though they take a little more skill to manuever effectively. I rarely use fleets that lack my Star Destroyer Basilisk or my Home One Cruiser Allusis. My two favourite ships to use.

Want something smaller? Try an Assault Frigate or two. Great ships. They can lead fleets well as Flagships or support larger capital ships. Another invaluable Rebel ship is Mc30c Frigate. Fast, and deadly at close range. I rarely play Rebels, but when I do I always use this ship, along with the Assault Frigate or the Home One.

For the Empire you have lots of options. You can add a second Victory-Class Star Destroyer to your fleet, along with the core set Victory. They work pretty well, are easy enough to move around, and look cool. Want something up close and personal? The Gladiator-Class Star Destroyer is one of the most popular medium sized Imperial ship. Manueverable, deadly at close range, and very effective title cards.

Now lets talk Corvettes and Cruisers. Out of everything here I'm going to 100% suggest you buy at least one Arquitens Light Cruiser. Comes with great cards, works well as a Squadron carrier, picket ship, you name it. One fun and easy fleet I play is two or three Arquitens with a Gladiator, or two Arquitens and two Gladiators. They all fire from their flanks, so you line them up in a conga line like a convoy and fire salvos into your enemy. For something smaller the Raider-Class Corvette moves around the board fast, can move squadrons around, but is kind of hard to use unless you have experience with it. Still a very cool ship to own, I like using at least one when I run larger Capital ship fleets. Allows me to manuever my ISDs into space while also having something really fast to close gaps and push fighters around.

For the rebels there's options, depending on which flank you want to fire from. Front? Get another Nebulon-B. It comes with the Salvation and Yavaris title cards, which perfect the Nebulon-B. Corellian Corvettes are also good options. Side arcs? The MC30c Frigate.

Lastly lets quickly talk more speciality ships. I don't have any experience with Rebel Squadron dedicated carriers, but I do with the Imperial Quasar Fire-Class Cruiser Carrier. This thing exists solely to push Squadrons around the board. Know how to use it and you can wreck enemy fleets, make a bad move with it and it'll get torn to shreds ruining your strategy.

There exist two ships called Flottilas, they are very cheap and also exist solely as Squadron movers. They are the Gozanti Cruisers and Rebel Transports respectively.

That's the bulk of most of the ships. There are a couple others like the Hammerhead Corvettes and the Second wave of Squadron expansions, but these are harder to play with (in my opinion) and I'll let someone else tell you about them. Bottom line, it depends what kind of fleet you like playing. Squadron heavy? Look at Carriers and Squadron expansions. Classic ships? Go for a Star Destroyer or Star Cruiser. Want lots of ships in your fleet with lots of options? Get a bunch of Light Cruisers and Gladiators, and the various Rebel Frigates and Corvettes.

Edit: Forgot about the Interdictor-Class Star Destroyer. A personal favourite for casual games, but really hard to use competitively. A very expensive ship point-wise, and not very powerful attack wise. It has some cool abilities, like forcing enemy ships to change speeds, but that's about it. Shame really, this is by far my favourite looking ship.

If you'd like a more assertive answer. Buy the two Squadron expansions I. They come with classic ships like TIE Advanced, Interceptors and Bombers. And The Y-Wing, A-Wing, and B-Wings. Get one or two Light cruisers and one or two Nebulon-Bs. And if money isn't a problem get a Star destroyer and a Star Cruiser.

So, as someone who is relatively new to DMing (started just over a year ago), here's what I'd suggest to make sure you keep your cost down, while still having figures you can slowly replace over time:

---

Starting off, you can get a lot of generic "green-army-men" style fantasy figures for relatively cheap.

  • Here's some knights
  • Here's some skeletons
  • Here's a random assortment of generic fantasy charcters
  • Here's some undead
  • Here's some barbarians that also just make decent random warriors

They're not very expensive and what they lack in quality they make up for with quantity.

    ---

The next best solution I have for cheap decent figures is for animals. I've been able to find tubes or tubs of a decent selection of cheap, pre-painted figures at just about every Walgreen's or CVS Pharmacy I've been to. I use these guys for animal encounters, pet companions, and they're especially helpful for my druid.

If you can't find them at your local drugstore IRL, there's plenty of selections you can find online.

  • Here's just an example of some of the tubes you can find.

    ---

Now, players understand you can't afford unique figures for every encounter. However, I've noticed that the figures you have stand in for whatever they're fighting can sometimes be distracting, or if you have multiple identical figures it can be confusing knowing which one they're targeting in a battle. A great, cheap solution I've found to this is just using multi-colored generic pawn pieces like from the game "Sorry!". The pieces themselves are so nondescript (other than color) that the players have an easier time projecting the combatant you describe onto them, and the various colors make it easier to track what's going on in a battle, both for the players and DM.

If you can't just salvage an old Sorry game you find lying around you can find packs of the pieces or other generic multi-colored pawns online for very cheap.

  • Multi-colored pawns
  • Meeples
  • Sorry Pieces

    ---

This last suggestion isn't really about where to find cheap figures, but more to address the reason you said you wanted figures in the first place, to "help the immersion".

You may have heard of the website HeroForge before and it's a great tool for D&D players. It allows you to make very customizable figures for your games. Now, the cost of their cheapest figures are still over $30 for a single figure, so definitely not cheap. However, as a DM, I still regularly use it. I use HeroForge to help design notable NPC's or enemies for my campaign, then save the screenshot of them and post the image in our group chat when the character gets introduced. This is very helpful for a lot of reasons: I get a more solid idea of characters that I was designing in my head, it gives the players a visual and helps with the immersion, and when I DO decide to actually order a character (like, for example, a villain or NPC I know will be reoccurring for many sessions) it becomes a MUCH bigger deal and way more intense.
I also always recommend that PC's at the very least design their figures on HeroForge for the same reasons.

  • Here's some examples of figures I designed and posted used over the past few months without ever having to spend a dime

    ---

I hope these were helpful. I'm still in the process of building my figure collection as well and love to share cool tips or resources I have found while doing so.

These might require you to give them a paint job. The good thing is they come in pairs so if you mess up on one you still have the original :) This is a deal worth taking for the price and the amount of dragons in this set, I'll use them as either pseudo dragons or the offsprings of a larger one.

I'm seeing if I buy one of those gargantuan-sized (5 in. x 5 in. x 6 in.) figures from Michael's that cost about $15.99 each, although those seem expensive and the guys at D&D would much prefer to imagine these smaller ones as large so the would-be dragon money goes to snacks.

The dragons in the bag stand on an 1 in. x 1 in. square, that's how much space they take, maybe a little bit more. If you seat them on a base made of foamboard or insulation foam and carved to look like stone or grass it makes them occupy the space of a large figurine and it works nicely.

If you need huge (3 in. x 3 in.) dragons these might not be for you. When the Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Collector's edition was released for the 3DS I bought it, the game came with a collectable figure of the game's flagship monster: Gore Magala. And although he was an easy one to beat in-game, the G Magala armor was superb looking and I'll be using the figurine as a stand in for the final boss of the adventure I'm running currently, an Amethyst dragon called "Amathysia".

The cool thing is the figure has a purple shade and Amethyst dragons use Psionics so that matches well. Overall I'm really happy with my bag of dragons, it is an amazing gift that will give for many battles to come. Good luck with your dragon hunting :) 👍

u/ty23c · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I would have to say that Martian Manhunter is pretty under appreciated. Everyone knows Batman(badass), Superman, Wonder Woman and the Flash but not many know of MM. I mean he has super strength, super speed, invulnerability, flight, shape shifting, telepathy and he's intangible! He's pretty much the entire JL in one! How badass is he!

And if I happen to win I'd like this Deadpool

u/poetniknowit · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

This playset would be awesome for any child who loves PJ Masks although it might be cheaper through Walmart or Target- it's worth a Google!

These figurines of the PJ Masks characters are also a great gift.

It's hard to get little kids to tell you what they want unless you're always looking in the toy aisle or they follow a lot of like toy review channels on YouTube. When I make my child's birthday and Christmas list because her birthday is a couple months before Christmas, usually I will make a shopping list by taking her into the toils of department stores and then we take pictures of things that she likes so that way I can compile a list for family and friends easily. If I didn't do that and just asked her I think that she wouldn't know what to request because she isn't that in tune with what the new toys are that are coming out etcetera. Now that she's older she watches YouTube channels of toy reviews and such so she probably knows more what she would like because she collects certain things but for a young kid just starting to get into certain brands and characters I would definitely get him something related directly to those interests.

Happy Early Birthday!

u/BrandonBuikema · 2 pointsr/stop_motion

I have not used any of these projects so if I were you I would check Amazon reviews. But at his age I would want something like these.

Stopmotion Explosion: Complete HD Stop Motion Animation Kit with HD Camera & Book (Windows & OS X) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009H4Q6YY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_cvi3xbQA0KFNN

Minecraft Stop-Motion Animation Studio https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00RZ628O8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Ewi3xbJ0JRD2F

Another thing he will need is desk lamps and (if he is working with Lego) a Lego baseplate or two. It might be worth it to let him continue using the iPad but purchasing something like this to connect it to a tripod of some sort. I'm assuming he is using an app on the iPad and this would allow him to keep using what he is comfortable with just with better results.

TLDR the kits are cool but using the iPad may be the better option as he is already used to it. I would focus on lights, tripods, and maybe a lego baseplate.

Robot Nesting Dolls (in toys/plushies/collectibles list). Fun because robots! I already have ninja nesting dolls and have had these on my list for a while, could line them up with the ninjas XD I probably wouldn't get them for myself as they're just a tad too frivolous but they are rather awesome

Sunday Funday

thanks for the contest :)

u/HeckinChonkr · 1 pointr/DMAcademy

The dice linked will be good enough as each person will probably have two sets and you can roll and add up but if you need to make large rolls I use a dice rolling app named “Dice Ex Machina” it’s on IOS and I believe android and google store.

Regarding minis the 2d cutouts are quite nice and easy to use there is also a kinda blandish minifigure collection

SCS Direct Fantasy Creatures Action Figure Playset - 90pc Monster Battle Toy Collection (Includes Dragons, Wizards, Orcs, and More) - Perfect for Roleplaying and D&D Gaming https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0746TKNSL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_n8apDb6TPTRBB

And the cutouts

Pathfinder Pawns: Bestiary Box https://www.amazon.com/dp/1601255616/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_h-apDbW0DB1MW

The mats you’re talking about sound great, I would probably just buy those

And the monster stats can be found on the website I linked, they can be printed or just used from the site and I would go out and got a pack of coloured markers to draw on the mats

This website has almost all monster and spell stats

Littlest pet shop!

Here's some examples.

Starter set of animals

Polar Bears

Kittens!

They have changed their designs from when I was a little kid, but the little kitties with the wobbly heads were some of my absolute favorite toys. They are so small and cute, and they work perfectly for playing 'pets' with dolls.

u/LordThoughte · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Cake is a girl's best friend.

A bit over $5, sorry! this i'm loving!

You (and me) should totally get this game . One can never have enough board games

And finally, a funny pic! enjoy!

u/justhere4inspiration · 1 pointr/rpg

If you can spare like $20, these are really cheap options to get a ton of minis:

https://www.amazon.com/SCS-Direct-Fantasy-Creatures-Playset/dp/B0746TKNSL/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1539723865&sr=8-3&keywords=bulk+miniatures

They aren't great, basically army man quality, but they get the job done for your run-of-the-mill creeps. As for your players, ask them to bring their own minis. It'll be like $10 tops to get a Reaper mini, and they'll be able to get something that really reminds them of their character.

Then, there's always standees:

https://www.coolstuffinc.com/p/226999?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&adpos=1o1&scid=scplpPZO1019&sc_intid=PZO1019&gclid=CjwKCAjwmJbeBRBCEiwAAY4VVfkIm-qSwJlAQPQ6pnL7ECdAREOv26dLrIJsk7S2OMUcTx-GdlL65xoCcSwQAvD_BwE

A couple companies make them, and it is another way to get a lot of minis. Again, not as cheap as homemade, but def a lot better than getting a bucket of plastic.

u/witch-finder · 4 pointsr/boardgames

This is probably the best solution since he's looking for hero figures. This might be a good choice too.

u/SandmanAlcatraz · 7 pointsr/DMAcademy

These tubes of minis are probably the best value: 90-100 minis for ~$20. They can give you a good base, and then you can purchase specific minis for more important characters (PCs, important NPCs, BBEGs, etc.)

Dwarves, Elves, Wizards, Orcs, Dragons, Unicorns, Skeletons, Fairies and Centaurs

Fiends, Flesh Golems (Frankenstein), Lizardfolk/Dragonborn (Godzilla), Mummies, Cyclops, Werewolves, Vampires, Zombies, Giant Spider, Giant Moths, Sahaugin (Creature from the Black Lagoon), gravestones

u/Proximity_13 · 8 pointsr/GreenDawn

Target. Very similar to these guys but sold for $10 instead of 14. It feels good knowing the patrols are equipped with the best gear! Over.

I'm off today and trying to get up the gumption to get my to-do list done. The weather went from wonderful to what the hell and it's sapped my energy!

These kinds of toys are always a nice distraction. When I study it helps to read things to myself out loud for me to remember them better. I usually have something like this to play with as I read it out. For some reason, fooling with this thing while drilling stupid data into my head really helps.

Here is something from my list that is awesome for reasons that are obvious.

Who needs revision?

u/Extech · 19 pointsr/ActionFigures

What size and price range?

6": There's a new Marvel Legends coming out soon that looks pretty dope. Or if you're into more high-end 6" figures Mezco has a proto-type in the works.

7": Marvel Select Deadpool articulation isn't great, but it's cheap and displays well enough.

8": If you're into the Mego style this is your only option. Lot of accessory and display options.

10": These knock-off/un-official "Fire Toys" figures are interesting and fairly cheap. You can find reviews on Youtube and they're not that bad.

12": Hot Toys has a Movie figure and Sideshow has a Comic version. Both hella cool and hella expensive.

That's all I can really think of. If price isn't a problem, go 12" scale. If you're a Marve Legends collector and need something in scale just wait. And if you want a large stand alone figure, go Select or the Fire Toy.

u/KiloD2 · 2 pointsr/stevenuniverse

> I just don't think they look good.

I agree. I think the Funko mystery minis, however look much better (at least for Steven Universe characters ones do). The only problem is that they're only sold as a blind box.

I still got one though, was happy to unbox a Garnet WITH her gauntlets :)

u/1D13 · 8 pointsr/DungeonsAndDragons

There are these bucket of figures that are great, and super cheap for how many you get.

Monsters

Skeletons

Zombies

Knights

Dragons

And so on. Super cheap. Tons of figures, less than $20 for each set.

u/Benjigga · 37 pointsr/AskReddit

Amazon has a ton of awesome stuff for kids for pretty cheap. Anybody who only has ~$5-$10 to give should take a look at this list and organize helping someone in need from this thread. All of these are eligible for Prime. I'm willing to help out with two gifts of anyone's choice. Shoot me a PM. (Yes, I stole these ideas directly from SD. I've taken out the affiliate links.)

u/Basics4Gamers · 2 pointsr/Pathfinder_RPG

SCS Direct sells bundles like "100 Zombies", "100 Monsters", etc for fairly cheap. The scale isn't always perfect and you get what you pay for... but if you want bulk, they're an option: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KBHVSTY/

You can also look into things like cupcake toppers. Some party supply places will sell tiny plastic figures for themed kids parties... soldiers, knights, etc.

u/infinitum3d · 1 pointr/DnD

I always recommend allThingsHeroscape.com has a set of 4 warriors already painted for $5 USD and a Red/Copper Dragon for $6 USD and a set of 30 figures for under $30 USD but some of those are robots and army guys, so they'll need some modifications and repainted.

Ok, don't laugh too hard at me, but I got this "bucket of monsters" really cheap, and you'd be surprised at how many will work for D&D, especially if you paint them. It's 100 monsters for, like $18 bucks American.

Edit: This is a "fantasy creatures" bucket for $23.

u/xRob22x · 7 pointsr/ActionFigures

Don’t pay $45. He’s currently on Amazon for retail price ($40) with prime shipping. I know $5 isn’t a huge difference, but it definitely adds up.

Here’s the amazon link: Marvel Legends Series 6-inch Ghost Rider with Flame Cycle https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072KD9BRK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_vHgNAbAN0WZJK

u/doryteke · 3 pointsr/DnD

I ordered these for our first campaign and they worked great. Bunch of options and it was 22 bucks. Have everyone pitch in 6 bucks and you should be good.

u/mrdeadsniper · 2 pointsr/dndnext

Minis get expensive quickly. Reaper is probably most popular mini store (although their website is atrocious). Depending on your campaign, you can get some stuff like skeletons or zombies minis in toy packs for much cheaper.

https://www.amazon.com/Piece-Army-Skeleton-Warriors-Ready/dp/B00IDBZPIU

https://www.amazon.com/Monster-Action-Figure-Bucket-Frankenstein/dp/B00W5WSN5A/

https://www.amazon.com/True-Heroes-Mythical-Warriors-Bucket/dp/B00MW7JH0I/

For specific heros or villians you might have to break down and buy a fancy custom mini just for it.

u/GTSimo · 1 pointr/DnD

I found Safari Toob animal toys for on Amazon were a pretty good size for D&D. And for druid wildshapes that I didn’t have toys for, I just made counters for, using Google-fu.

u/Suezasaurus · 2 pointsr/DungeonsAndDragons

Amazon is what I use, although I haven't checked other sites much, so I don't know if the price is good/bad. I bought this and the miniatures are all good quality. There's plenty of other miniatures on amazon, I'd recommend at least checking it out.

u/xblitzkrieg · 1 pointr/StarWars

You mean Darth Tater? Haha, my friend has one on his shelf.

u/AntAPD · 4 pointsr/DnD

I am really new to this, but I swung into Toys R Us and they have a bucket-o-men called "True Heros" Mythical Warriors. Came with spell casters, rangers, rogues, dwarves, orcs and a dragon and a few set pieces.

I bought some super cheap small cans of spray paint and separated out the sets and shot them different colors incase we ended up with multiple similar classes. No real enemy pieces though as far as monsters go besides the dragon.

Don't buy it from Amazon bc I found it for $9 at Toys R Us 2 weeks ago.

https://www.amazon.com/True-Heroes-Mythical-Warriors-Bucket/dp/B00MW7JH0I

I also ended up getting 1 1/2" wooden discs from a craft store and superglued them all down, they weren't the most staple on our table if you bumped it.

I have a few proper minis that my friend bought for me, that we use for PCs and major NPCs. I think she found a few on ebay and at flea markets, but generally they are your standardly priced minis.

However, for enemies, I mostly use these toy soldiers. They are handy because they are cheap, color coded and have a good variety of weapons.

I also picked up these animal toys, but that's mainly because with a druid and a nature caller summoner in the party, they come in handy. That company does have some fantasy style stuff though, too, that I have contemplated picking up.

Probably the least legitimate, but cheapest thing I have for minis, is that my friend who works at Home Depot picked up some vinyl floor tiles, cut them up and glued pictures to them to represent, huge, gargantuan and colossal creatures.

If you want to go cheaper but worse looking, Amazon has some pretty good deals on bulk bags/boxes of animals: https://www.amazon.com/Zoo-World-Realistic-Learning-Resource/dp/B01KYYKECA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1491774020&sr=8-3&keywords=mini+animals

You can get farm animals, dinosaurs, a metric ton of spiders, whatever floats your boat.

u/GreatOmniscientDev · 25 pointsr/politics

Okay, everyone, start sending these to the white house em masse. It's got three colors of tanks, surely President Toddler will be happy with that. If we send enough he can cover the Oval with them and have the biggliest war ever.

Though, if he wants more than tanks, we may as well send him this

u/Not_Gene_Parmesan · 38 pointsr/DungeonsAndDragons

Yo! Just wanted to drop you this info because I LOVED it when I found it.

Bag O Zombies!

You get 100 of them. You can find them in glow in the dark form as well.

This is also neat looking, but I haven't gotten them.

EDIT

Those look baller too.

Brand new DM here. Currently running LMoP for 3 first-timers and 2 (barely) amateurs. Bought these for my party. $17 USD

Google “LMoP paper minis” for the enemies/villains. Use some common coins as and some Elmer’s Glue for a base. It honestly takes 2 hours (with breaks for beer and Reddit lol) to cut and paste once you assemble the materials.

Otherwise get a double sided battle mat, like $22 USD and some dry erase markers, $6 USD

Skip the party’s minis if you want to save some money. But the battle mat and markers can be used FOREVER.

Also there is this if you have 20$

Edit: Just a heads up. Others have noted that these are a bit larger than your typical minis and will not fit your average 1inch grid perfectly. Just something to consider.

u/action_packed · 1 pointr/stop_motion

I'm not advertising anything in particularly, but I got this Minecraft stopmotion set for my nephew last X-mas, and he seemed to enjoy it for a while.

u/slowrine · 2 pointsr/minipainting

Would not recommend, and would suggest testing in a small spot before doing the whole thing. I used it to prime these miniatures, and they all came out sticky and shiny. I hoped they'd go matte overnight, but they didn't. Was more trouble than it was worth.

It could have been the type of plastic, but I expected it to work because it's marketed for plastic ¯_(ツ)_/¯ Also, if you do use it, and want to take it off, a 5 minute soak in odorless mineral spirits took it right off for me.

u/oonooneoo · 2 pointsr/minipainting

Craft paints and tubes of plastic figures will do the job. SCS Direct's Wicked Duals figures would be a good choice for models. They're a good value, but not amazing quality. They definitely will need to be straightened out with a hot water bath and set into position with an ice bath too.

Thanks. I got the Dwarf from the Icons of The Realms Starter Set. It comes with 5 others, along with the Dwarf.

Wait, you said 6-7", I misread that initially as purely 6"

In 7" there is the Marvel Select Deadpool

https://www.amazon.com/Diamond-Select-Toys-Marvel-Deadpool/dp/B003B96AOW

Articulation is comparable to the Hasbro Marvel Legends figure mentioned before.

If you have some money, but not enough for official minis, try something like this:

u/containedexcitment · 5 pointsr/answers

What about plastic animals? Something like this? There's different packs for sea creatures too...

u/munkamonk · 2 pointsr/DnD

Looks great! I did something similar, but by repainting one of these wild animal tubes.

u/Green-Cat · 2 pointsr/breakingmom

There are a few of different ones. I like the toy one , it should be bee sized. But it depends what you want.

u/nwolowski08 · 2 pointsr/dndnext

Unfortunately they are currently sold out:

I bought 3 packs of the nicer mini's for the party to use for their characters and while it might not be perfect (the human wizard is using a human monk mini) it seems to work for everyone.

You might be able to make due with these

u/C_Zachero · 6 pointsr/DnD

You can find sets of minis online (example), or have each player buy their own mini, but I have a few alternative suggestions. If any of you has old legos, you can use those lego characters. Many board games have minis or "meeples" you can use too. I've seen people use soda bottle caps as well.

u/BroDallas · 1 pointr/DnD

Thanks!

The colored guys I got off amazon, they're the starter set miniatures

https://www.amazon.com/WizKids-Dungeons-Dragons-Realms-Starter/dp/B01M1CRRY3

The unpainted baddies behind them all came from the Reaper Bones series.

This is my first time DM-ing, but I can already feel mini-hunting becoming an obsession..RIP my wallet

u/nithos · 2 pointsr/lego

Agreed. My son is YouTube obsessed. He played Minecraft 360 with a "youtuber" this weekend and was freaking out.

I am a bit concerned about privacy (and I just don't have the time to research it munch) otherwise I would get him an account set up for uploads. He has been making Minecraft/Lego stop motion videos recently, which would be perfect to try it out.

u/Doc_Holiday426 · 1 pointr/DungeonsAndDragons

Sure thing, link

Are the Big Bucket of Zombies figures too tall? I've never used them, but see them recommended from time to time.

There are several mixed sets on Amazon. Just a few:

Monsters
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00W5WSN5A/

Fantasy
https://www.amazon.com/TimMee-Legendary-BATTLE-Fantasy-Figures/dp/B00FQIJEO4/

Skeletons
https://www.amazon.com/B00IDBZPIU/

Mythical Warriors
https://www.amazon.com/True-Heroes-Mythical-Warriors-Bucket/dp/B00MW7JH0I/

eBay has a lot too. Search for plastic toy knights, ninjas, monsters, etc. Dollar Stores also carry baggies of cheap toys.

u/Crish-P-Bacon · 1 pointr/minipainting

SCS Fantasy Creatures, the came in a box of 90 and cost US$ 22,90. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0746TKNSL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_fgetDb812GQPR

u/masnosreme · 3 pointsr/DnD

If you're looking for affordable, I've got a few suggestions.

u/crashsuit · 1 pointr/stevenuniverse

I'm not a fan of Funko's big-head style, but I do have a couple of the different mystery mini figures, they're not quite as deformed looking on account of their smaller size. There's the Funko ones and then also some other non-Funko brand:

https://www.amazon.com/Funko-Mystery-Mini-Steven-Universe/dp/B01CT7TWSW/

https://www.amazon.com/Steven-Universe-Original-Figure-Mystery/dp/B01GQPUDBS/

I originally got one type of them at Target and the other at Hot Topic, but I'm not sure whether either of them still stocks them in the stores, might have to buy them online.

Edit: I just now found these too: http://www.forbiddenplanet.co.uk/steven-universe-pint-size-heroes-x1-random-figure?

u/Coal_Morgan · 2 pointsr/DnD5e

Go dirt cheap.

Skeletons
Zombies
Monsters

Then just do some reaper bones or wizkids for "feature characters" and upgrade as you go along. Unfortunately good minis are almost always expensive. Finding an E-Bay score is always an option.

u/cyberfranck · 1 pointr/rpg

Those are horrible finish. check this out

https://www.amazon.com/SCS-Direct-Fantasy-Creatures-Playset/dp/B0746TKNSL?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_2

A pack of 90 x 25mm minis for 22$ (18 pound) with double the quality and precision. That's 0.20 pounds per mini 1/5 the price. they are more mass produce than 15mm or 18mm so they are always cheaper. I have 2 sets of those and some a 28mm but still fits and once you put a primer (i used same primer as the one i use for warhammer)

u/Pendip · 1 pointr/DnD

For serious miniatures, I haven't seen any. There doesn't seem to be that much variety of style out there.

I have these "Fantasy Creatures", though. The collection has elven archer girls, grossly oversized pixies, unicorns, centaurs, etc. They're not really the right size for 1" squares or hexes, but they're close enough for my purposes. They're cheap, there are lots of them, and I don't worry about breaking or losing them.
