Oh hi Techfoxninja,
I have a few things I'd recommend, I'm a hiker and jogger myself. My first two recommendations? Good shoes and good socks. I personally do most of my running on roads but for hiking I use Keens yes they seem pricey but I bought a pair used at an REI garage sale and they're still kicking, before that I had a pair last three years with no issues.
Smart wool makes awesome socks, I'd actually suggest going to real store and looking at them, hence the lack of a useful link. I have a pair of running socks by them that I swear by.
If you're doing day hikes it's always important to carry a small pack and plenty of water. The North Face Jester is both a good hiking bag and even a good school bag, and is another item that will last for a few good years.
If you get a decent bag, a Platypus will fit nicely into it, and you'll stay hydrated well into your walks.
It's been brought up before, but yes, headlamps are really important, I also have a Nebo light that works really well and can clip on to most bags.
Next? A good yet light jacket, for interment weather. North Face does OK, but Marmot, Columbia and Patagonia are good brands as well.
I don't know how big your gift card is, and you may be hesitant to blow it on one expensive item, but trust me, as I get older my camping/hiking supplies just grow, and a lot of this stuff has a longer life span than you'd expect.
The Osprey Atmos is a more popular backpack than that Volt. Fit is really the most important part of this - so if you have a chance to try either on - that would be ideal.

These poles are better than the ones you have listed:

The North Face Venture jacket is more popular / recommended than the Resolve:

Skip the solar charger. A USB battery pack is way more useful. Solar are just too bulky and low charge for the effort. Get 2 if you really need the power.

Tent is really small and not a popular/quality brand. How much time will you spend sleeping in this? Every night? Have you ever slept in a 1-person bivy style shelter before? Where will your backpack go at night? I would not recommend this. If you really need to go this cheap (under $100 is SUPER low for a quality ultralight backpacking tent) - then consider Nature Hike brand. They are a knockoff Chineese company that's somewhat good.

That sleeping bag is garbage. It's super bulky and not very warm. The 32F rating is a straight up lie.
I recommend this bag instead:

You also need a sleeping pad. Not optional. Check this out:

100% skip that hammer multitool. WOW is that thing bad. If you need a knife - buy a knife. You do not need a hammer for backpacking.

The headlamp is great, good choice.
The stove / pot / cook kit is okay. It's a popular budget option. If you could spend a bit more there are better choices. For example:

Don't forget TP/wipes (and a way to pack them out once used), good wool socks, dry bags / pack cover, food bag, water bottles, map, first aid, toiletries, lighter, duct tape, phone/camera, and other random items. Plus clothes of course - lots of layers!
Have you checked AirBnB yet? There's probably some apartments that you could rent that are close to hotels that are used as pick up points for excursions.
I used these guys when I was there in December 2015, https://www.re.is for couple of my tours.
I went on the following tours;
Warm Baths Cool Lights ( A geothermal pool, then northern lights )
Game of Thrones tour ( used greyline.is for this )
South Shore Adventures (Get to see the Skógafoss waterfall and the Black Sand beach, couple other stops as well )
Here's what I wore on most days.
Underwear ( http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00Z8HWXIM )
Thermal Pants/Long Sleeve (http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0064D1DNK, then the same kind of top)
3 in 1 Jacket ( http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00HQ33NTY )
Snow Pants ( http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00AHJM8CM ) I used a different set of snow pants, that I ordered through aliexpress, but had these along incase the ones I got from China didn't work out. They ended up being perfect, so I never even wore these.
Boots : Good set of Hiking boots, that were waterproof.
Wool Socks were a must as well ( http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00TOWNXO0 )
I also had two sets of gloves. Ones that were windproof but touchscreen capable so I could take pictures with my phone. Then another that were heavy duty/waterproof just in case. I mostly just wore my windproof ones, as they were slightly waterproof as well. Also a really good beanie hat. I also carried a neckgator just incase the wind got to be to much for me.
I have a Kirkland signature jacket (like this one but a few years older so maybe not the same: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VKU14SQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_HTdxDb976E1BV ) that the right side pocket is just a zipper into the lining, meaning a 10 inch strip from the bottom of the jacket to the neckline was just one massive pocket. Puppies? They fit. Nerf guns? You bet. Machete? Sure thing, make sure the sheath's on first. Gardening trowel? Take two, they're small. Computer keyboard? Don't judge me, it fit. Great jacket too
I'm sure that's a nice parka, but something for 10°F isn't even close to what I'm talking about. I already have this.
https://www.outdoorgearlab.com/reviews/clothing-mens/winter-jacket/mountain-hardwear-chillwave-jacket
That's fine for around town and car camping. I wouldn't use that if I had an outdoor job in an area that has long bouts of temperatures below -40°F before accounting for windchill.
If I went for a Canada Goose parka, it'd be something that be warm in temperatures at least 20°F colder, so we're talking -40°F, with tougher fabric, more pockets, fur ruff, wire lined hood.
This Moncler River looks warm enough, but lacks pockets, and costs about $1000 more than an equivalent Canada Goose parka.
This Outdoor Survival Canada Mission Parka looks like it has the right design and may be even warmer, but still costs more.
Maybe the Chenega II. It might be good enough, but I need more information. It's roughly 25-50% cheaper.
In the same price range is the Fjallraven Arktis. Same comments as the Chenega II.
The Triple F.A.T. has a bit more down than the Chenega and Fjallraven, and is less expensive too. Still far from being 25% the cost though.
I am currently wearing the Carhartt Men's Quick Duck Jefferson Active Jacket
this one is waterproof as long as it isn't a thunderstorm, lots of functional pockets.
It was like 20 degree last week here in NYC, it was certainly warm
I also have this one with the sherpa lining, Collinston Brushed Fleece Sherpa
Carhartt Men's 3 Season Midweight Sweatshirt is really super comfortable for the warmer days
I am torn between two bomber jackets that I've narrowed down. The Alpha Industries Men's MA-1 Slim Fit Flight Bomber Jacket and the Levi's Men's Ma-1 Flight Jacket. Both look awesome from the pictures and ratings but I would love to know if anyone here has had any experience with either of them. I'm partial to slim fits rather than the poofy jackets they traditionally come it.
Any input would be welcome. Thanks everybody.

I have a Arcteryx Zeta LT and its awesome for hiking.
The thing I love about it more than I should is the position of the pockets. They are raised up so that a hip belt doesnt get in the way. Construction is top notch. Feels like it will last forever durability wise. But it needs to last forever and I will need to pass it down to my children and their children to justify the cost (direct quote from my wife).
Sure thing mate :)

Since I got a bonus for doing well last month at my job, in the forum of a Amazon gift card, I decided to spend it on cloths. I am in the process of redoing my wardrobe and I think I'm done with the basics.
Here are the links of what I got,
Hanes Beefy-T in Black, Grey and Navy
Brown/black Belt to Match shoes I bought
Brown Watch Band to match my belt
Chinos in Olive & Navy
Blue and white Oxford Shirt
French Terry Full-Zip Hoodie in Navy and Black
Florsheim Men's Montinaro Wingtip Oxford In Brown
Reebok Men's Club Memt Classic Sneaker White
Bomber Jacket Black
Levi's Men's Straight Chino Twill Pant
Levis 502 in Dark Hollow
In addition to what is hear, I have a Charcoal Sports Coat, A Charcoal Suit, and Other Various Button Down Shirts.
Any alternatives to this, I like it but only has two iffy reviews. Otherwise just happy for any suggestions for a somewhat nice looking weatherproof jacket I could wear with jeans. But not like this standard rain jacket.
I got one of these jackets several years ago, been with me on 4 continents through some tough travels. It's 100% waterproof, super thin (no lining) with zip-able air vents to keep you cool and ventilated when you need to. Also, if it gets cold, you can wear a sweater or something under it too. It's compact too, like you can fold it up and fit it in a hoodie pocket.
Has Carhartts quality kinda suffered recently? My old jacket was only in its second year when the seam where the pocket was ripped open. I had one of these and the pocket ripped open on the front and just held by a flap. I am guessing it caught in the washer but i have had cheaper hoodies that have not had that problem so it makes me weary of Carhartt.
It was super god damm warm though. I actually cant find the damm thing which is why i posted this lol.

I got this one two Amazon Prime days ago for like 45 and it's held up really well. Branding isn't visible if you take off the tag on the sleeve zipper. Has a decent warmth, is weather-resistant, and is my go-to jacket when I'm traveling. And it has a crapload of pockets.
I got the Amazon Basics Bomber Jacket in black last year and I've really liked it so far. Cool zipper on the arm, pocket on the inside, good elastic on the cuffs, and it's warm but not overwhelmingly so. A solid option at exactly $50, and I've received a few compliments on it
If it's just the sleeves that are too baggy you might want to try a different style than the typical MA-1 slim bomber.
I know this one I got here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0119N95ES/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1&psc=1
which is the "Skymaster" was a true thin fit and fit way more streamlined especially in the arms than the normal MA-1 slim bomber.
Should I save up for this Shell Jacket from Jack Spade? I really like the overall put-together of this outfit with the jacket, flannel, Henley(?) and the chinos. I'm thinking for the fall/winter. Also, any recommendations for shoes to match this?
Hey all, what's the best type of fall jacket to layer over button ups?
I'm looking for a lightweight jacket, not sure what style, that I can use in fall and spring. I wear a lot of button up shirts/flannels so I want something I can throw over my button up shirt and be warm and stylish in the fall weather. I'd like to spend around $50 but id go higher if it seemed really worth it. Here are two items I'm considering [1] (https://www.amazon.com/Tommy-Hilfiger-Poly-Twill-Performance-XX-Large/dp/B00JBXOTD6/ref=sr_1_1?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1506665527&sr=1-1&nodeID=1045830&psd=1&keywords=Bomber+performance) [2] (https://www.amazon.com/Lucky-Brand-Avery-Quilted-Field/dp/B01KCJODS8/ref=sr_1_12?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1506661529&sr=1-12&nodeID=2528780011&psd=1&refinements=p_89%3ALucky%2BBrand&th=1&psc=1#customerReviews)
I use this jacket. It's waterproof (I wore it while biking all last winter. No leaks), but the texture on it looks like a nice cloth material. It's also thin, so you can wear it in the late spring, or layer in winter.

Please recommend me rainproof jackets that have insulation. I need a lightweight rainproof jacket that has insulation so I don't sweat if there isn't sweat weather. This seemed like the perfect jacket but I heard it retain moisture from sweat and it isn't breathable.

This is the jacket here:

It's $139 for the Navy in S, which is the exact same as mine.
