- This genuine suede product is made of natural cow skin, exactly like the suede soles of expensive dance shoes but for a small fraction of the price of expensive dance shoes. Natural suede soles are ideal for dancing on well maintained, studio-quality wood dance floors and should only be used on those floors. For dancing on non-wood floors, look for our products LOFRI and SULOFRI.
- Beware of cheap products made of synthetic materials, which are often marketed as "faux" or "eco" suede. "Faux" or "eco" suede may look like genuine suede but has entirely different and inferior friction properties when it comes to dancing on wood floors.

When I got home and looked at your link more closely, I realized that it is a T430-focused guide that I had already found with Google. It's a good guide, but it is lacking the T430s specific answers I was looking for. Thank you for quoting that post from the user who swapped palm-rests + keyboards between T430s and T420s, good to get confirmation on that route working well.
I found a guide auf Deutsch covering the FHD screen mod on T430s specifically. It is excellent, and readable enough through Google translate, but we should have a guide in English as well. I took a ton of pictures as I did the FHD upgrade and T420 keyboard fitment, so I will be posting up a detailed guide / comparison for both.

When I had my laptop apart again yesterday while installing the FHD screen (I'm over the moon about that upgrade), I decided to try again with just jamming the unmodified T420 keyboard into the T430s palm rest. While the T420 keyboard doesn't quite fit right with its much thicker tabs, I was barely able to secure it in place after fighting to get one of the misaligned screw holes to bite, and somehow without cross-threading it!
I think a lot of folks would be unhappy with this solution however, as the bottom right-hand corner of the T420 keyboard ends up pretty bouncy due to its tab(s) not being secured into the palm rest. But for me, so far this issue isn't bothering me enough to do anything about it. I'd rather not risk metal shavings going into the T420 keyboard from taking a Dremel to its tabs. Actually, as I'm typing this, the noise from the loosely mounted keyboard bouncing from using the cursor keys is starting to bother me a bit. I may end up getting out the Dremel in the end.

Side note: from my comparison the T420 keyboard actually appears far superior to the T430 keyboard as far as chassis water resistance. The water drain holes line up perfectly, and the T420 keyboard forms a shallow tub with "walls" around its periphery. The T430 keyboard is just completely flat, and makes no effort to channel water directly into the drain holes, and has holes in it to boot, where the T420 keyboard has a contiguous sticker covering its entire bottom. Folks with T430/s: get the T420 keyboard, it is worth it in every way!

There's so much more that I want to say about the T420 keyboard upgrade, and about the upgraded T430s being such a great option for a "new" laptop even in 2018. I will make a separate post about my T430s upgrades. But so far I am unsurprisingly in love with the T420 keyboard, and its superior TrackPoint nipple and buttons.
I also put some patches of peel-and-stick real, black suede onto the palm rest, which feels beyond amazing. When typing at maximum speed, I'm not resting my palms at all. But when typing casually, which is most of the time for me, I definitely am enjoying the suede immensely!

Thanks again for your help!
Sure,
well theres three types of labels, printed cans( cant do anything with )
Wraps ( plastic that has a seam) you can cut these but you have to cut the seam and then snip the top and bottom ring area then it will flatten.
Adhesive labels. ( these work best)
I try to use the edge of an xacto knife or even a fingernail on a part of the label that i know ill maybe trim a hair off of anyway , so that it hides any crinkling.
there are a few companies that its just impossible to get the labels off of, some bottles like Founders, or cans like aslin, dont work well , usually bigger bottles work good though. Prairie works great. I recommend these magnet sheets,
https://www.amazon.com/Craftopia-Magnetic-Adhesive-Anything-Flexible/dp/B071L97W57/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1525196048&sr=8-3&keywords=magnet+sheets
and i use xacto knives and a craft mat like this one, https://www.amazon.com/Alvin-Professional-Self-Healing-Cutting-GBM1218/dp/B0015AOIYI/ref=sr_1_4?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1525196109&sr=1-4&keywords=craft%2Bcutting%2Bmat&dpID=51gR%252BOrM3WL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch&th=1
so you dont cut through it to the table youre on etc, the key to making your cuts nice and clean is putting a good amount of pressure during your cut and cutting fairly slowly.
use a straight edge, use metal rulers, plan out the size of the label, peel it off the can or bottle and affix it adhesive side down on the adhesive side of the magnetic backing. then just square off your edges with cuts and bingo instant fridge magnet.
You can also do it with brewery stickers as well.
Why not just save yourself time and energy and change the design. That's what they did to make it work. I would make the legs from 4x4 (which is really 3.5 x 3.5) and the horizontals pieces from 2 x 4 (again, realy 2.5 x 3.5) Everything will match up and it will look just fine. Or just use 2x for all of it. That's the best part about seeing a design you like. Just make it work for the tools and materials you have at your disposal.
Also, another suggestion would be to add rubber tabs or felt tabs to the top of the wood for the glass to rest on. Otherwise, that glass could easily slide around. I'd go with something like this to keep the glass protected from the wood and in place: http://www.amazon.com/Self-adhesive-Clear-Rubber-Feet-Bumpons/dp/B001JASGH4
Great idea. Will really help those riding behind you understand why your not moving over. Thank you for being considerate to others!!!
As an idea to help you see behind you. You might be able to get a small flexible plastic mirror that you can attach to the brim of your helmet. If oriented the correct way, you should be able to make out if someone is behind you. In a catch, it is very unlikely to cause a secondary issue. Something like this: https://www.amazon.ca/Flexible-Mirror-Sheets-Cuttable-Plastic/dp/B01BU99K6E
Do you mean something like these? Because that seems like an awesome idea! https://www.amazon.com/Self-adhesive-Clear-Rubber-Feet-Bumpons/dp/B001JASGH4
You have some great tips too, thanks.
They sell precut mini mirrors if you have a square shape, but I couldn't find any in the size I needed.
I bought these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01BU99K6E/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They work pretty well as long as you apply it perfectly flat. Otherwise you get sort of a fun house mirror effect.
It was actually quite simple. I bought this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BU99K6E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And then I made a triangle and taped it inside the machine bottom to allow for it to stay off the drip tray. I then cut another piece and laid it on top of the triangle. I will take some pictures and another video today. I was able to clean it up a bit and make it more clean by taking off an additional layer of the protective plastic. :)

Overall, very pleased with the results. Now if I could just hit the cup :)
Great stuff!
Headliner fabric could work. It might be a bit too thick from what I’ve seen.
I was thinking along the lines of some microfiber/suede fabric with a thin layer of padding behind it.
Something like this velvet adhesive sheets or this microsuede adhesive sheets on the inside. And maybe cover the ouside with canvas might make it look quite nice.
I would suspect that the shell provides enough protection as it’s quite hard, so just a thin bit of padding on the inside is good.
The top vents and R L buttons only really need to be exposed when the switch is being played (the shell is open). Otherwise when it’s shut and off, it shouldn’t overheat.
I realize with a hinge, opening it and having a lip move out the way might be difficult, but for the fabric version it will work.
What are you thinking for the latch?
I think the original Switch Lite case may use magnets, which I think I could do by hiding it under the fabric. Or creating a kind of fabric/leather strip with one of these magnets attached. could also work.
For the fabric version, would that be easy now that you have this version almost done? Would it just be a matter of tweaking and removing the hinge etc?
No need I think I may have found it!
https://www.amazon.com/Shell-Coated-Enhanced-Adhesive-Veneer/dp/B00L6EKVTY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1469025142&sr=8-1&keywords=abalone+veneer
Thanks for the tip!! Your application of it looks great and it's something I'd definitely like to try!
Thanks. That's too bad, it would be pretty cool if you could do custom orders, or even if you could request specific game pallets. Though now that I think about it, I bet this wouldn't even be too difficult of a DIY product, if you can get large blank magnet sheets. This looks like it would work. Just need to figure out how to best color them, and how to reproduce the colors I want accurately.
I would buy the biggest photo corners your mat will allow for. That should help hold it initially and then once it's in the frame for a while it should be fine. And I would leave the back accessible (don't staple on paper or whatever) so you can easily fix if it does slip.
Edit: You can also use something like this on the edges. Basically the same concept as photo corners.
I haven't! I did peek around on Amazon and it looks like there's some cheaper options there than in-store. Michael's looks like it's about $5 per sheet?
There's this [50-pack 4x4 square cork paper](50 Pack Self-Adhesive Cork Sheets Squares 4"x4" Cork Backing Cork for Tile Coasters and DIY Crafts Mini Wall Cork https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PK19KZK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_By0LDbQBYNW8T) for $11 and this [36-pack 4x4 round cork paper](36 Pcs Self-Adhesive Cork Round for DIY Coasters, 4"x 4" Cork Circle, Cork Tiles, Cork Mat, Cork Sheets with Strong Adhesive-Backed by Blisstime https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07N372LGY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_FA0LDbT7VXMGD) for $9.
Awesome bag collection. I've been turning my bags into refrigerator magnets and covering the fridge. Looks pretty cool. Just get some of this: https://www.amazon.com/Craftopia-Magnetic-Adhesive-Anything-Flexible/dp/B071L97W57/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1520867044&sr=8-2&keywords=magnetic+sticky+sheets
and cut to whatever shape you want.
You can buy thin sheets of magnet and cut it to whatever size or shape you want. Now as far as affixing the photos I would try a few things and see what works best.
Edit: found an Amazon link if you like that sort of thing. I get bored at work some one should benefit.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071L97W57/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_RJ26Ab031R35N
Yes. You can also get them pre cut, but I prefer cutting myself for a better fit.
Edit: wrong link
Premium quality suede sheets 8.5"x12" with super-strong self-adhesive backing. Ideal for making peel-and-stick (self-stick, stick-on) soles for dance shoes, [SUEDE-DIY-black]. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CBJLNW2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_T43gDbXTCTK6P
I was thinking about using something like this (flexible mirror sheet). Super easy to work with, no sharp edges and you can roll it up into a tube if you wanted to.
Wrinkly silver foil stickers underneath the clear? Or something like this
The clear blue doesn't seem to be modified, at least from some of the photos I saw.
I haven't tried moleskin, but I love this stick on suede. It's not $2 but it's not $30 either if you have prime.
These are the ones I use. They are PERFECT. Just barely clear the base so it dont rock. Got the link from a past reddit thread.
The blue paua shell I was able to get off amazon at this is the listing. It's on the pricey side, but the sheet I ordered has lasted a couple projects now, and I've been happy with the results every time!
Hmm... this does look like the same backing material that is used on the replacement soles u/wanderedoff recommended on the post in r/shoemaking. Those soles do look to be suede.
The same company that sells the adhesive has whole suede sheets with the backing material already applied. This may be your best bet if you are looking to be able to cut to size instead of using the precut pieces.
Why does it have to be leather? It's suede and it picks up dance floor grossness and gets smoother, unlike a lot of things. If shoe covers work better for you, go with those! Most people use suede like this: https://smile.amazon.com/Super-Strong-self-Adhesive-Backing-self-Stick-SUEDE-DIY-r01/dp/B00FEPCAPO/ I like cutting it to only be around the ball/front of the shoe. This stuff is great because it's adhesive on one side. Other people use scraps of leather from craft stores (again, suede usually) or have cobblers put on leather.
I have suede on my dance keds. I have other pairs of keds for outdoor/nondance use.
Here is my solution to this problem - puma shoes with DIY suede stickers from amazon.
front
back with suede sticker
suede sticker from amazon
Hope this helps!
I'm looking for adhesive silicone strips - basically continuous versions of these (https://www.amazon.com/Self-adhesive-Clear-Rubber-Feet-Bumpons/dp/B001JASGH4). Ideally corner orientated pieces too. 3~5mm width, anything wider would probaly look weird.
I need them as 'surround feet' for a box.
TIA for any pointers
You can make them into stickers yourself by buying a sheet of double tack at an art supply store. It's basically a giant piece of double stick tape--you peel off the front, stick post card to front, cut out stickers, and then peel off back and stick to whatever you like.
I've never seen it for more than 2-3 dollars for an 8.5 x 11 sheet, but here is a big sheet on amazon so you can get an idea of what it is like: https://www.amazon.com/Grafix-Double-Tack-Mounting-Sheet/dp/B0027A5HEU
I get these, but there are better ones! Namely anything with 3M on them.
Bumpons - They work great, they add weight, and are very reliable

These are what I use. Sticks to the wall great.
I've tried a couple different suppliers. The highest quality ones come with adhesive backing and are found here:
Blue Paua Shell Flexible Enhanced Adhesive Veneer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MWU13BG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_WvKZBbCYEZB9A
The supplier is morning calm on amazon
Yes I do! I have glittery butterfly wings, glitter makeup, and tiara ( I still need to find it), miniskirts, etc!
We can get together beforehand to get dressed up!
purchased this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N7UKC8A
PM me for more details!
I put these rubber feet next to where the little plastic bumps on the bottom towards the back of the keyboard are: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001JASGH4/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?qid=1465585240&sr=8-3&pi=SX200_QL40&dpPl=1&dpID=21KThbUYKEL&ref=plSrch
Fixed it immediately. You can also put them over the screw holes, but I prefer to leave those open for easy access to the innards.
You can put cardstock or paper onto sticky sheets before cutting.
It turns them into a sticker. After cutting, you just remove the backing and stick it down.
Something like this.
Elizabeth Craft Designs Clear Double-Sided Adhesive, 8.5 by 11-Inch, 5-Pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BQAO6Q2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_iVvDDbZFNNC0E
You can buy the case (and another one) from Amazon for $35.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0168YNYNG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It doesn't have the symbol on the outside but it's basically the same. I then bought sticky felt to line the inside with so the cards didn't get damaged.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BGSWSGV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And then just some plastic dividers from one of those home stores.
https://www.amazon.com/Amy-Home-Adjustable-Thickening-Stationary/dp/B07CVJ953Q
So it doesn't have the printed logo or the wooden insert but you can make functionally the same thing for less than the shipping cost of that one.
That's a good suggestion, thanks!
My bumper is probably not magnetic, but I'll put a couple on magnetic sheets so I can move them around my car just for the heck of it. Easy to remove so I can store it away if some jerk wants to steal them.
Here's one I'll get, which should be able to fit six bumper stickers. (non-affiliate link)

I like this, or they have adhesive ones.https://www.amazon.com/Flexible-Mirror-Sheets-Cuttable-Plastic/dp/B01BU99K6E/ref=pd_sim_201_3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=7D9S28ZGY7YBZN1P0CPA

Here's an easy fix I've used on my HHKB that solved all my problems with it slipping around:
apply these rubber feet on the bottoms of your HHKB. You might be able to find cheaper ones at a hardware store.
It probably wouldn't look great. Sharpie works fine on small areas that are hard to touch like Soundwave's inset eye visor but it isn't great for coloring in large areas. It would be hard to get even application over a large area like Omega Supreme's chest. Also it would be prone to rubbing off because of the smooth plastic.
An alternative might be to us red transparent gel sheets to cover the yellow chest area. If you used something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Pack-Adhesive-Transparent-Christmas-Decorations/dp/B01N9X6TFQ
You could cut it to shape and just stick it over the yellow. It would still be transparent, won't rub off easily and can be undone later if you decide you want the yellow back.
Take the glass out and use the sticker mirrors. You could also apply right over top if you want it done faster:

I'm using these round ones I ordered on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001JASGH4/
Just added one on each nut that holds the plates together.

I use this stuff for many things. Not strong magnetism though. Depends on what you're after. For me weak magnetism is perfect.
I have no knowledge of which of these are "the good stuff" but this will give you an idea of what i mean.

going DIY is the way to go. I've heard this from the pros as well. There just isn't the selection of dance specific shoes. The pair I bought most recently was from ALDO There called Aauwen-R Dark Grey, then I just went on amazon and got some stick on suede. The only problem I have found so far with this was that I stuck them on and it immediately slid like a 1/4 inch. Which isn't much but that's 1/4 without suede on the outside edge. I think I just should have walked around to let them dry. I immediately went down to dance at a dance event. So probably user error.
