  • Set includes 1 Patriot Electric Fence Charger plus 1 250ft spool of Patriot Made in the USA 17 Gauge aluminum wire (or comparable brand)and Quick Tip Guide. Does NOT include a ground rod. Only effective for small nuisance animals.
  • PE2 Output Voltage: Up to 5 kV max, 2.8 kV @ 500 ohms;Patriot Wire tensile strength 38,000 PSI; Fi-Shock Breaking load: 90 lbs; Fi-Shock aluminum wire Will not rust; Will Keep Dogs from Digging Out of Their Pen; Keep Rabbits and Deer Out of Your Garden; For Use as an Electric Dog Fence
  • If you test the wire to see if it will shock you, don't be standing in boots that insulate you from the ground. It will not work then! The ground system should be at least 33' (10 m) away from electric or telephone ground systems to avoid interference.
  • Moist soil conducts electricity better than dry soil. If possible, locate the ground system in a boggy area. In dry weather, wet the area around the ground system to keep the soil moist.
  • Make sure there are a sufficient number of ground rods. See your charger’s user manual for recommendations. If in doubt, use at least three ground rods. Use more ground rods if your soil conditions are not ideal. Ground rods should be at least 6'6" (2 m) long. One long ground rod works better than several short ground rods.

Electricians don't, but farmers do (for building barbed wire/electric fences). If the newbie is sent to a sufficiently well-stocked hardware store the joke can backfire. Great fun. http://www.amazon.com/Dutton-Lainson-405-Heavy-Duty-Stretcher-Splicer/dp/B00004YK6I/

You know that that makes me laugh? I have one of [these](Parmak Super Energizer 5 Low Impedance 110/120 Volt 50 Mile Range Electric Fence Controller SE5 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002YUWHA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_-Ek3BbGJ50V3Z) in my kitchen

The post issue should be ok but, I would highly recommend stretching it as it keeps tension on the posts and makes them that much more durable. You could try using a post to stretch it but, investing in a wire stretcher was one of the best things I did.

Edited for link.

Electrify the fence and put up a sign. Good ol' Red Snap'r should get the job done pretty well.

Squee!! Check out the new garden fencing we just bought! So excited for it to come in! My garden is going to be inspired by the garden Chip and Joanna Gaines from the show Fixer Upper on HGTV have on their farm.

It is so pretty!!

u/partypoopist · 2 pointsr/techsupport

Well this will work just as well and give visual reassurance.

I use a 12v fence charger and portable battery for camping trips with my horses. If I added a solar panel and charge controller, it could run indefinitely. It's designed for 5 miles of fencing and produces a pretty good shock if touched. https://www.amazon.com/Zareba-EDC5M-Z-Battery-Operated-Electric/dp/B0079GH6K0

I had a situation just like this and I used a “ground screw”, the U model. It’s a bit of work but it works really well for exactly this.

In this case there is a difference between driveway markers and Yard/Fence Posts. Driveway markers are generally colored in some way and flex too much.

I use these cores for full contact games and they are good for Broadsword lengths up to 30"

Here is the exact brand, though this listing is for a pack of 25:

Yeah the cross supports on the top are removable and keep it still when extended. I used round gate hinges so the bolts slide in and out like this I don’t have any locking when it’s folded but the door hinges are somewhat level and keeps the posts from extending on their own

u/El_Cartografo · 2 pointsr/HomeImprovement

You can either slide larger posts over the existing posts, or use extension sleeves for the same sized post like these.

I think it's called Spring Wire and Lock Channel. I have catalogs from a couple places in my area and I think their prices are much cheaper, but here's an Amazon example: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BC4HAPA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_-N2IAbF3219DN

No joke, 2 joules is quite a bit of energy. You or I would not like contact with this type of fence for any amount of time.

I used this Parmak Magnum Solar-Pak 12 Low... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00099FAJI?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share. And yes walked through one side and out the other. I just put up cattle fencing inside the electric fencing to give them pause so they can’t just walk through and maybe they will get a shock to a sensitive area and turn around. Also have a solar powered motion activated light to help startle them.

u/overaname · 1 pointr/HomeImprovement

Also just so I make sure I know what your are talking about this is what I should buy, right?

u/simpletonstan · 1 pointr/WTF

I use this for my kids

Spoiler: My kids are dogs

u/SilentMasterpiece · 1 pointr/microgrowery

I have an elec wire, made for dogs. My dogs touch it once and never go back.

I got this one at the local Feed and Grain store.

I actually have this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00099FAJI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1. It's a 30 mile solar charger. I have it attached to (2) 100' premier 1 goat and sheep netting.

Wiggle wire and locking channel. http://www.amazon.com/Wiggle-Channel-Greenhouse-Spring-U-Channel/dp/B01BC4HAPA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1458595181&sr=8-3&keywords=wiggle+wire

Screw the locking channel to a 2x4 or other piece of wood then wiggle wire your poly film into the locking channel.
