Drill a quarter inch hole and screw it in. They are pretty awesome

Most concrete anchors (which you could also use for brick) would not have to actually penetrate the wall. You would only have to drill about 1.5" deep to install an anchor like [this] (http://www.amazon.com/Vestil-HKIT-4-Concrete-Anchor-Inches/dp/B0052PMV3W%3FSubscriptionId%3DAKIAILSHYYTFIVPWUY6Q%26tag%3Dduckduckgo-d-20%26linkCode%3Dxm2%26camp%3D2025%26creative%3D165953%26creativeASIN%3DB0052PMV3W).

Just get normal-ass plastic anchors, like these: http://www.amazon.com/Plastic-Conical-Anchor-Kits-anch/dp/B001HWCZ76/ref=sr_1_1?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1419998215&sr=1-1&keywords=greenlee+plastic+anchors They're cheaper than all these gimmicky anchors and can be obtained at home depot or lowers or wherever. The kits like this include the appropriate drill bit for use with the anchors. It is a masonry bit so it will work in drywall, lath (rhymes with bath) and plaster, or even brick or cinderblock. If the screws are being driven through the block, you'll need screws that are like 1 3/4" inch long. Get screws which match the thickness of those that come with the anchors. A thicker screw will not give you a better hold here. Ideally the holes through the block should be large enough to accommodate the screws with room to spare; so the only part of the screw that's exerting pressure on the block is the head.
