Top Reddit comments about Women's Ankle Boots & Booties:

I tend to like clothing that is a bit more on the simple or plain side, because then it makes it really fun to accessorize or mix & match pieces, so a lot of my choices reflect that.

I think this dress is super cute and lacey/witchy.

doc martens are the perfect edgy shoe you can wear all year round! The dark glossy cherry red color is super pretty too.

These pants are really cute and are a super lightweight material which makes them nice to wear in the spring/early summer/early fall. There are also similar ones in a plaid print that I looooove.

This dress/skirt is super freaking cute and comes in a couple of different colors!

These shorts have a witchy vibe to me! Plus, these type of shorts are the BOMB during the summer.

My brain is tired & I can’t think of a pun right now 😭

u/oneherbert · 3 pointsr/ehlersdanlos

TL;DR: I MACGYVER MY SHOES

So this might seem counterintuitive but hear me out. I buy xero or merrel or keen in lightweight minimalist style 1/2 to one size too big, and then I build up the soles.

I have a slight leg length discrepancy (left leg shorter in femur) and this is what got me started thinking this way.

For the lefts I use a 1.5 cm solid heel lift and glue it down to actual base of shoe after removing insole. I then cut various liner materials to fit using insole as pattern. I have so far macgyvered 5+ pairs permanently as follows:

  1. Camper beach sandals: rope sole and leather straps.
These I loosened/detached the toe strap and resewed them about 2 cm tighter for both feet. (Because shoes larger size/ toe strap not adjustable.) Sewed a deerhide backing onto underside of both toe straps. Created a wool felt heel lift and attached this and covered with deer hide at heel. Sounds clunky but my heels are hidden behind leather pieces that have ankle straps at the top. This was first DIY shoe remodel and was very fun but time consuming (hand stitching through leather, hello carpal tunnel mega spaz).

  2. Merrel boots ( Merrell Women's Encore Kassie MID Waterproof Fashion Boot, tan, 9.5 M US https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078NKP121/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_nOR4CbGEM6J9S)

Bought 1/2 size larger (7). I just glued in a 1.5 cm flexible heel lift on left and added one layer of boot liner cut to fit under both insoles. These my fave so comfy boots. Can walk in or stand. They dont yank ankles, feet fit snug with thicker wool socks or cool and loose in thin ankle socks.

  3. Various sneakers: have built up left sole with various materials and shoegoo/ gorilla glue: old yoga mats, mouse pads, silicone hot pads (kitchen), cardboard of various weights, thick wool felt and once, spare sorel winter boot paks which are like 3 cm thick springy wool felt.

  4. Bogs rubber mud boots. I live in AK and mud on all the things always (or snow, ice, sand, etc). These are HEAVY but somehow the design plus wool socks keeps the weight suspended from my calves rather than the ankles. I like the added sturdiness here for tromping about in forest or on beach. These have left side lift glued to bottom of insole and a gel liner on top, both sides. Makes them snug and hard to get off but super safe feeling on my feet.

  5. Poor quality or dress shoes: I am 5'2" 140 lbs 45yo woman. Have ruined my poor feet which are ultra flexy. I finally got rid of all heels, pointy toes, hard soles, and any pair that "make things worse" or that I'm just not comfortable in. This endedup being all my dress shoes. I now buy ballet flats similar to tieks style, wide toe box, flexible and bouncy/grippy sole types. Then as above I create better conditions for my own comfort.
Faves now are xero wool grey lace ups, (Xero Shoes Pacifica - Women's Minimalist Wool Shoe - Barefoot Inspired, Zero Drop Sole - Charcoal https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H2PJZXG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_I8R4Cb79KD40G) they go with my super minimalist Alaska mom wardrobe and can wear with black tights for dressy events.
I also have a silver pair of leather ballet flats I slip a heel lift in with double sided tape ( I wear 2x/year lol)

Looking for ankle boot recommendations. I'm specifically looking for something to wear while on vacation in Europe that is both stylish and functional.

What I'm looking for:

  • Heel should not be flat, but no more than 2"
  • Good footbed support, bonus if insole is removable
  • Good traction
  • Ankle height
  • Waterproof would be ideal, but not absolutely required
  • Prefer Leather, but again not absolutely required
  • Price I'm flexible on, but preferably under $200
  • I prefer greys, dark greens, and burgundy as color options as they are more versatile than black or brown, but again I'm flexible
  • Something from an outdoor brand, but with a more stylish look would be great.

I ordered these and I really like them, but the leather wrapped heel is a deal breaker for me. I've had leather wrap heeled boots before and the leather chips and peals and looks like garbage.

I'm late on this post so I don't know if anyone will see it, but I love this question so here are mine:

Black Frye Melissa Lace-ups. I wear them constantly during the ever-autumn Seattle year, the laces mean I can make them fit my narrow calves, and they get tons of compliments.

Merrell Shiloh Cuff Boot. My near-perfect travel shoe (I don't love being able to see the laces at the bottom of the cuffs): I can walk in them for hours, they look good with skinny jeans/leggings/tights when it's cold or dresses/skirts when it's warm, the laces mean I can loosen them for an extra sock layer, and the zipper makes them easy-off for airport security.

Shellys London Celee. I adore these, as they're funky, tall, weird, and a little sexy while being the most comfortable heels I own. I wish I could find another pair for when they inevitably wear out.

Locals Women's Black Strap Slippa. I got these at Longs years ago after my old ones wore out. I don't use them often, but they remind me of home.

u/ruthannr94 · 4 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

Honestly I wouldn't buy Frye boots full price simply because in recent years their quality has gone down. I have several pair but I bought all mine second hand. Mine are nice, but I wouldn't risk shoddy quality at that price. Born is definitely a good brand and I love the born shoes I have. Also, I'm a big advocate for Docs, both pairs I have are solid, solid quality. You may want to look at the Clemency for a more feminine silhouette. Also, if you're going to get a classic Dr Martens, get the Pascal in buttero leather rather than the 1460 because they look almost the same and the leather quality is much better. :)

u/ApolloBollo · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I tried them on at Journey's a few weeks back. Honestly, I wasn't a huge fan of them. They didn't feel as well made as most Docs do (in my opinion), and I also felt they looked a bit "off" on my feet (I'm a size 5 in Doc)

I did wind up going with the Felice boot by Doc and I really enjoy it. I like the thinner sole and really like how soft they were right out of the box. Very easy to wear with anything and the laces are pretty boss.

I was able to buy the Felice boot from Amazon for $80! I went with the Dark Mahogany Brown which honestly has more cherry in it than brown, but it is a nice neutral (albeit a little brighter than most brown boots.)

Hope this helped some what =)

EDIT: I forgot to mention how I got them for roughly $80 on Amazon!! Scroll down to "Special Offers and Product Promotions" right below the photo of the boot. You can sign up for an Amazon discount coupon. Mine was 20% off and that was a few weeks ago, so hopefully it is still the same!

We might need to update that automod intro! I believe we're at 633!

[SV] So, happy that the scale reading has dropped below my flair weight, the one I updated yesterday! I actually lost weight during the day yesterday because I was in the bathroom every hour. I love the anti-inflammatory virtues of this WOE. I'm trying very hard to avoid anything that may bloat me, so dessert has been either small quantities of 90% cacao dark chocolate or whipped cream with berries and keto granola. So far, so good!

[NSV] I scaled down to the size large of my favorite shirt, I am wearing it today and will only by large and medium from now on. Also, I'm wearing the new maxi skirt (size 16-18) I bought two weeks ago and it's getting a little baggy. Fortunately, I think I can take in the waist as needed with my rudimentary sewing skills. I ordered a second of the skirts in the silver and plan on wearing it to a family wedding in NC in October. Along with my new boots. I can't wait for fall temperatures.

I am keeping up with my strength training routine, and because I am, my husband and son are too. :) They can't let a lady outdo them, right? Up to 10 reps of deadlifting 2 8 lb dumbbells. Tonight I will switch to the 18 lb medicine ball. I'm working up to my new 15 lb dumbbells. We do have sets of 35 lb and 45 lb which will keep me going for the rest of this year. We're buying a weight bench and sets of weights for Christmas. I love not belonging to a gym and since I can swim, walk, lift weights, and do cardio at home, why pay for another thing?

Dinner was steak, pork belly, and cauliflower. Tonight will be freshly grilled chicken and peppers and most likely another batch of aioli. I might pick up some zucchini to be grilled as well.

Off to drudgery. I hope your day is great! ♥

How dressy is your office? Business, business casual, or casual? Mine is business casual and we take the casual pretty seriously if we aren't meeting with clients. I wear riding style boots to work with skinny black pants quite often. I think that any leather (or fake leather) boots that are pretty classic in terms of style are appropriate for the office! Suede is fine, too, but just tends to get messed up by snow and once that happens, they're too junky looking for work - so you have to be careful how much you wear them.

To be more specific, the main boots that I wear look like these but are actually Ralph Lauren and from TJ Maxx, they cost about $100.
I also have these which are a bit more casual but still work if you office isn't too strict. And these which I just got and love! I think the first and last ones are the most office appropriate, personally. The last ones would be cute even if they had a slightly higher heel. I buy a ton of shoes on Amazon because I have Prime and can return them for free if they don't fit :) It's a good place to shop around for the style you like even if you don't buy from there!

I don't know what specifically could be causing that, but I'd recommend a pair of supportive boots with wide, stable heels, here's a link to what I wear:

Dromedaris Women's Kara Boot, Black Print Top, EU 41M https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0145FX3AY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Jud2CbAWYKE42

You can also use a small ace bandage on the foot and ankle, when combined with the boot, it makes for great stability. I've also used compression socks to keep my foot bones from drifting, that helps.

Finally, I'd recommend that you get a half foam roller like this one:

CanDo PE White Foam Roller, Full-Skin, Half-Round, 6" x 36" https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B006LN7XAK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Vxd2Cb7BXMK5V

Don't get a round roller and cut it, that doesn't work, some have layers, just go for the half roller. Then, in a hallway where you could use two walls for balance, put the roller flat side up and parallel to the walls. Stand on it barefoot, one foot in front of the other, feet parallel to the roller and the walls. Now, balance, and the slight adjustments your ankles will have to make as the roller tries to roll and you stay stable will strengthen them. If your balance is good enough that your ankles aren't doing any work, then pretend you have worse balance. As always, be careful not to fall.

Good luck!

BOOTS AND SHOES I love boots and shoes you have no idea the terror you've unleashed.

Docs

Always, always Docs. Lowest prices are usually on either Amazon or ebay.

Okay, give me a chance here. Ugg has some really cute, really great winter boots. They don't look at all like the basic white girl Uggs, last forever, super cute, incredibly comfy.

I have these, they're super comfy, I've had them a few years, and they still look amazing. (And they fit my larger calves).

Black for sure. I'm not a fan of tan in almost any circumstance. This outfit is young, fresh, and kitten heels definitely kill that vibe. I have a pair of shoes that are basically these but in leather, and I've paired them with black tights and an outfit like the one you're planning on wearing and all my friends loved it. I'd definitely do black boots over the green and if you have time/money then I'd look for a cute pair of wedges with ankle straps.. They're the best as far as stability goes.

I bought A LOT of Christmas presents because there are 9 people in my nuclear family. 11 if you include my dog and boyfriend. So, I won't list all of that out, but here's what I bought myself:

These booties in grey - My sister bought a matching pair. We tried them on at DSW where they were being sold for around $90..Found them much cheaper on Amazon.

These leggings in grey - Been eyeing them for a while and I had some store credit I wanted to use.

These jeans in Over the Edge and these in Blue story - Levis had a GREAT sale. I might end up returning at least the boyfriend jeans. I've tried 5 different brands of boyfriend jeans and have yet to find a pair that fit, so we will see.

Death Note T-shirt - It was only $10, I had to lol.

Scarf

This pillow - I bought it for $18. I have bad neck problems and using this pillow the past two days has been awesome.

Yeah, I bought way too much for myself. Might end up returning a few things. However, I could have bought so much more, but I'm trying my best to resist.

I found a great pair of Clarks on sale on Amazon. They were $120, but I got them for $40. They're super comfortable. I'm pretty brand loyal to Clarks and Fryes, but I've also had some good vintage finds from consignment stores.

This is the pair of Clarks and the western boots are similar to these.
