Been there my friend. Just got these (18 and 19 I believe) and they've been the best I've had. Super silicone is the magic phrase. And I do recommend giving your windshield a really good scrub. Went to town on mine with 0000 steel wool, cleaner, and rainx. Rarely use the things in the rain lol

PIAA 95048 Super Silicone Wiper Blade - 19" 475mm (Pack of 1) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002Z9QXU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_DwvKAbZZ7BAKK

u/fa2ecf05ba41 · 5 pointsr/Showerthoughts

Did that include dealership labor? If you buy on amazon, its 31 dollar for a kit for the whole car. https://www.amazon.com/Kia-Sorento-2011-2015-Wiper-Blade/dp/B00O0D84SS

I'm pretty sure you can get individual pieces for total price ~20 dollars on sale/coupons at your brick and mortar as well.

If you find some on a similar car, its free. Pretty easy to take on, put on as well.

I've been happy with these: AERO

I change mine every 6 months on average because we get horrible weather where I live (Nebraska).

These are so inexpensive that I bought 4 pairs in one order after I tried them for the first time. I can never be sure that what I want will be available cheaply and I love to save a buck if I can. Yes, I am definitely a Prius person, ha ha!

I have some free and cheap mods you can do.

If you have the OEM ashtray insert for the center console, you can make it more useful if you're not a smoker. Remove the metal base from the plastic top. There are 4 (or 6?) little screws. Rotate the base 180 degrees and reattach it. Now the deep part of the tray be beneath the hole, and there's no ashtray tab in the way. Great for spare change and it can serve as a shallow cup holder too.

For under $20 you can get a pair of these which will fit where your existing ones are. It's a fan spray instead of two piddly streams. Much better! (Use a deep-well socket, slid up over the nozzle stem from beneath the hood, to pinch the two tabs and release your old nozzles. I think 1/4" is the right size but I'm not sure.)

Get a cheap fiberfill pillow from Target for about $4. Cut it in half without removing the plastic bag it comes in. Tape up the open end of each half pillow you just created. Remove the spare tire and metal trim piece in your trunk. Stuff a half pillow into the cavity in front of your wheel wells. There are wires and your fuel line on the driver side to contend with. This creates a sound deadening that will slightly quiet road noise in the cabin.

These blades are my personal favorite. I live in az where the sun destroys wiper blades and these protect from sun damage as well as being an amazing blade. they're pricey but last a long time. i checked to make sure they fit ur vehicle too. driver side
passenger side
The ones you picked are good too though. idk where you live so its up to you if the bosch blades I picked are worth it for you.

u/cDreem · 3 pointsr/GolfGTI

Assuming you meant MK7. Here's my 2cents

I changed mine last fall to the rain-X latitude. overpriced, don't go for them. didn't sit well on the windshield and left a streak in the middle portion right in my driver's view. They didn't have a rain-X for the rear wiper blader so i went with the trico 11'' one back there and that has been awesome, better than stock.

Given how satisfied I was with the rear wiper blade I just ordered trico front ones, they should be here this weekend. much cheaper than the SI-tech ones you referenced.

Here is a link to the amazon page, can get the front pair for ~30. I can update this comment once I get them on and test them out to give you a better idea.

  1. Item. Wine stains your teeth, so you need a toothbrush to help fight that!
  2. Item. Without regular brushing, shedding pets leave hair on the floor that has to be swept up!
  3. Item. Kenny Powers is a baseball player, he has to wear a hat for his uniform!
  4. Item. I use my Kindle to read books, and my Kindle deserves protection!
  5. Item. Cars have very useful trunks, but in order for them to be useful you have to be able to see where you're driving and when it's raining that calls for windshield wipers!
  6. Item. In order for capes to look effectively dashing, you need wind, which fans make!

Thanks for posting. It's great to see feedback like this from real owners.

Regarding the windshield wipers, I generally always replace the stock wipers with silicone wiper blades. I've had good luck with SilBlades but the PIAA Silicone Blades are supposed to be even better. I can't stand regular rubber blades anymore.

You can't hear the pump run at all?

According to the factory service manual, the front washer fluid pump is powered through a 10A fuse, which is fuse #47 in the engine compartment/under-hood fuse box located near the passenger headlight. Check this first. If blown, replace with 10A fuse and try again.

The pump is located in the bottom side of the washer fluid reservoir which is itself located in the front passenger corner of the engine compartment, ahead of the passenger side wheel and tucked in behind the plastic inner fender. You may be able to access the pump without having to completely remove the plastic fender protector in the wheel well, but loosening the front part of it might be necessary.

A replacement pump from AutoZone or Advance does not come with the right connector for your car and would require some wire connections, best avoided if you can help it. The actual OEM part has the correct connector. The Nissan part number seems to be 289203Z000, and you can find the pump on eBay and Amazon. A Nissan dealer should carry it as well.

Addendum:

If you want to be certain the problem is the pump, you can unplug the electrical connector at the pump and probe using a multimeter between the Red/White wire and any suitable ground (metal part of frame or body). Battery voltage (12V) should be present on the Red/White wire whenever the ignition switch is turned on, regardless of whether or not the engine is running. Next, probe both terminals of the lead connector with the multimeter and activate the wiper/washer switch in the car, here 12V should be present whenever the washer fluid pump is supposed to be running.

I left out a bunch of details as this gallery was intended for my non-car-enthusiast friends.

Hello friend! Get the style blade where everything is molded into rubber, like this: http://www.amazon.com/Rain-X-5079281-1-Latitude-Wiper-Blade/dp/B00FRHOO9O/ref=zg_bs_15734861_1/179-3929043-8265606

Replace them at least once a year.

Next up, this wiper fluid: http://mobile.walmart.com/ip/Rain-X-All-Season-2-in-1-Windshield-Washer-Fluid/17179630

Enjoy better visibility!

This ought to do you a lot better than the heated windshield. I had the heated windscreen in my outback and it just keeps the base warm, but its not worlds different than without it. I was looking at this tho, which seems like a way better system for de-icing the whole thing

https://www.amazon.com/AlphaTherm-AT-38OD-Windshield-Washer-Heater/dp/B0034GW1WW/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1481139943&sr=8-3&keywords=heated+windshield

u/pinellaspete · 1 pointr/volt

Yes, you are correct. Only the SiTech model PIAA blades fit the Volt. These are really nice wipers. I've been using them for the past 5 years on all my cars.

You need two 26" blades for the Volt. You need to pop off the adapter the comes attached to the blade and install the one that fits the Volt. You can buy them on Amazon here: PIAA 97065 Si-Tech Silicone Wiper Blade - 26" 650mm (Pack of 1)

Page 295 of the 2014 manual (version 3):

WW-2802 (driver side) /
WW-2803 (passenger side)

If you had a hatch, your blade part number would be WW-1204. If you have a 2015 hatch the two front blades are the same model, the hatch model is WW-1295.

Those are Motorcraft part numbers.

Amazon will sell you the driver side blade for $12.10 with free shipping, http://www.amazon.com/Motorcraft-WW-2802-Wiper-Blade/dp/B0080DVLJ8/

the passenger side for $14.76 with free shipping, http://www.amazon.com/Motorcraft-WW-2803-Wiper-Blade/dp/B0080DVMJ2/

the hatch blade is $15.42 with Prime, http://www.amazon.com/Motorcraft-WW-1204-Wiper-Blade/dp/B0080DVGKC/

u/thisonewillbeforgete · 1 pointr/cars

First, are you using wiper blades that are the same OEM part that came with the car? It's sometimes best to have the factory-fit of the specific OEM wiper rather than aftermarket (such as rain-X, other auto parts store brand wiper). https://www.amazon.com/Bosch-3397118979-Original-Equipment-Replacement/dp/B002G47GE6

Next your windshield might be dirty. Clean it, and use a clay bar and lube and wipe it over the entire windshield to get all the contaminants. Clay bars get all the contaminants out that you couldn't by just washing.

You could make your windshield a little slicker by spraying Rain-X on it regularly, or also by waxing it.

Also you can "recharge" your rubber wiper blades, if they are still in good shape, by getting a scotch brite pad and scraping some of the old rubber from the wiper.

These are some alternatives

1- I got these from my dealership, they are "ok":

https://fdflex.com/en/.

2- Apparently these fit according to the forum and can be purchased from rock-auto:

TRICO 1817B (18-17B) Pass Side Wiper Blade
TRICO 2417B (24-17B) Driver Side Wiper Blade

3 - I also read that these will fit as well, though I'm not 100% sure and they are more expensive as they are silicone

Get these: PIAA 97065 Si-Tech Silicone Wiper Blade - 26" 650mm (Pack of 1) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004BT6N8Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_wR.VBb9FYM829

I put them on both of my vehicles, really quiet and clean wiping. Silicone is a much better material than the standard rubber that other wiper blades are made of.

It's a very specific socket like clip in. These silicone ones are nice and I use em on my 2018

You can buy the same PiAA wipers off amazon and dremel the clips to fit. I would use the cravenspeed instructions to make sure you’re using the right adapters.

I've been using Aero beam wipers from Amazon for my '13 Corolla. Just bought a set. They've served me well.

Also helps to wash the windshield thoroughly now and then. Here's a link https://youtu.be/p4TBR7TRGJc

Go Motorcraft, they really make the best wipers. Just read the many reviews of Motorcraft blades ... "should've gotten it to begin with" blah blah blah.

Beam style blades last significantly longer than the traditional frame type in ice and snow climates. They also more aerodynamic and have less tenancy to chatter at highway speeds.

The Rain-X brand is decently priced.

That's because your car doesn't spray heated Type I.
