That's awful. Being a new mom has sharply reduced my willingness to stay on hold/have time wasted (especially when I could be something important - like sleeping!) I love your onesie idea and was wondering if this one might be close. Not sure what the Babies r Us one would've cost/how it looked, but if you have Amazon Prime, this one should come in time (and free returns..!)

Kimono style clothing. Newborns can't hold their head at all, so these are wonderful for dressing the baby. Just put the onesie down, lay baby down on top of it, and then button it up. No going over the head! I had my son exclusively in these and it was wonderful!

I liked the kimono style / side snap long sleeve onesies with foldover mittens plus swaddle in a muslin blanket. Easy to get to the diaper area, easy to get on and off (no fussing with things going over their bobbly head), and no mittens to wrangle or lose!

I think it could work for any baby, but this lady said the animal ones did look feminine and if I dressed a girl in the blue stripe one, people would ask what "his" name was. Like that's the end of the world!

We put our LO in a Columbia fleece bunting suit. It's super thin and kept her plenty warm when it was -20. Of course we had her wear long sleeves and pants underneath and a wool hat.

Any one that buttons down the front should have plenty of room. It is pretty much all they wear - I just pick them up at thrift shops when I see them.

I love the shirt and the look but I mentioned not "nerd shirts".

I could have written this. Also a sucker for a good deal. Plus I figure if I see something we’ll need used online at a good price and in good condition, jump on it. So far we’ve bought a rocking chair and SnuggleMe Organic this way. We also picked up this onesie back in July but we lost that pregnancy. We’re still going to likely use it for our announcement since my husband is a software engineer in the games industry and we play games together on occasion.

I once saw size 12 month onesie at a Goodwill years ago that said "Hung like a 5-year old."

This year, I'm going to be Dorothy, my son is the cowardly lion (found a cute lion costume at carters), and my husband is the scarecrow.

My best idea is for last:
Star Trek - baby can be command gold, and you and dad can be blue or red - black paints and then get a long sleeved vneck and you can glitter paint the star fleet emblems on.
