First up, I recommend dropping the IPA. It's actually MORE toxic than most any resins ( such as the Elegoo you got. ) Just get some Simple Green. It's actually slightly better at cleaning, for less money, and far safer. Only downside I have noticed really is when shaking it obviously foams up.

For curing chamber, I honestly just use 2 cardboard boxes. 1 small 1 to place prints on, 1 as the outer box with a hole on top where I place a blacklight lamp. ( I got: this one which works great: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07K788YLM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) I haven't yet bothered with aluminum foil inside, I just turn the parts a few times.

There will be a lot of variables in curing time, so you just kind of have to figure it out, but it's also not a delicate thing. The main "issue" from over curing is some colors ( especially white ) will change color a bit. ( In the case of white, it will get the classic sun damaged plastic yellow/brown depending on how long it's cured for. ) It won't really hurt the part unless you WAY overcook it. With my 30w lamp a few inches from the parts, I usually do around 5 mins per side.

For cleaner, you can add me to the long list of pickle jar users: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002KKCLI2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's perfect for the situation, though that one is a hair small for max sized stuff. This way you can give it a good shaking, stirring, spinning, sifting, the works. The strainer makes it perfect for getting smaller parts back out. It's basically the ideal object, at least for manual cleaning. Hit the cleaner with your UV lamp for a couple minutes every now and then to pull most of the resin out. ( This also works for cleaning up any resin mess you do manage to get around. Table, sink, sides of the printer, etc. )

I then just use my sink to rinse off after the cleaner bath.

I do recommend leveling every time you remove the build platform. It's easy, and can make a difference.

If you got the new little plastic piece with your printer that your plate can attach on to, this is to let your part and build platform drip back into the vat. You take your platform off, slide the plastic part on in its place, then the platform onto the part.

A note about the fumes: With the Elegoo resin, they are pretty minimal while printing. It's during curing that they can really get going, so keep that in mind to minimize exposure. Personally I use a large bathroom/walk-in closet, with the door closed and vent fan running all the time and this pretty much removes all of the fumes.

Contrary to popular belief the orange cover is not to protect your eyes. The resin absorbs the UV to start with, as that's literally its job. More importantly with the Elegoo Mars is that it uses 405nm which is really visible light ( aka blacklight ), and is extremely safe to start with. Rather, this cover is there to protect the resin sitting in the vat from any stray UV. So, you can leave the cover off for a bit to check on the part at the start, just remember to leave it covered for the bulk of the time, and try to keep any UV light far away.

Oh, a small thing I've been seeing so far with some testing: If you want tiny holes, square seems to work better than circular. ( Triangle/prism is pretty bad. ) I'm currently running some more specific tests on this though to figure out more details. It's just my early testing that showed square being more reliable, so keep that in mind.

I'm a big fan of lume - that's the first question I usually ask when buying a watch off the exchange "How's the lume???" - so I thought that creating a way to constantly excite the lume in my watches would be a fun electronics project. The UV LEDs were from Amazon as was the Watch Winder. The box was also from Amazon, but they aren't carrying that model any longer - so no point in providing a link. I skipped the "behind the scenes" pics on the box, but thought others might want to see how I did the winder. I ended up adding some Switched Cords so that they could be easily disconnected from power for storage in my safe. (When travelling) I'm super happy with the results and hope that others enjoy this as well. Feel free to ask any questions!

Howdy! I just got my printer today so this is fresh in my mind. I watched a lot of videos to understand what I needed and how to get everything set up. I would recommend checking out the 3DPrintFarm YouTube channel. There's a lot of great info in there. Here's a list of everything I picked up along with links to Amazon for the items I got off there. Hope it helps!

u/paulb104 · 1 pointr/Halloween_Costumes

I'm guessing that your UV costuming was for an indoor event where you didn't have to worry about the UV...

Even just hitting Google with 'led blacklight' yields a large amount of hits, from products to videos to how-to's, but I haven't seen anything about making it mobile. I particularly like the floodlights but I'm guessing they're heavy, and again, they need ac power.

Edit: after digging around Amazon, this bar seems like a good option for my 'umbrella' idea. It's twenty inches long and only 1.26lb. But it's still a power issue. Maybe one would be strong enough when placed above the head to affect the lower legs, otherwise I'd need two, front/back or left/right.

u/RiceZiggy · 1 pointr/PrintedMinis

they are plenty powerful. I bought these: https://www.amazon.com/YGS-Tech-395nm-405nm-Non-Waterproof-Blacklight-Sterilization/dp/B07K6BK639/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=uv+led+strip+ygs&qid=1564582400&s=gateway&sr=8-4

lined the inside of an 8 qt cooking pot from walmart with them (used a pot so i didnt need to foil the inside), and dropped a spinning display stand down in the center. I usually pop my mini's in there for 5-15 minutes. And they are thoroughly cured after that time. Larger/thicker prints I leave in for maybe 30-1hr just in case, but im pretty sure that's overkill.

I've used a tiny bit of resin and applied it to the feet of some mini's and held it against the base i wanted it attached to with 2 fingers, poked my hand in the pot and boom, they are stuck together in about 10 seconds.

u/OG_Watsky · 1 pointr/LSD

I bought this light that projects lights all over my room and I'm very happy with it. It syncs up with music and it just looks really cool.

The best black light I've ever gotten is this one and it's enough to light up my whole room. I used to have two black lights in my room and this one kicks both of their asses.

u/Killorslay · 3 pointsr/LSD

For sure man, I'd either recommend:

https://www.amazon.com/DeepDream-16-4Ft-Flexible-Waterproof-Supply/dp/B01C2NQWIQ/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=black+light+strip&qid=1557257167&s=gateway&sr=8-7

or

https://www.amazon.com/Onforu-Flexible-Blacklight-Non-Waterproof-Fluorescent/dp/B07D7RKJYS/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?keywords=black+light+strip&qid=1557257167&s=gateway&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1

They both work totally fine. The first one I have linked is a bit higher quality than the second from my experience (I actually have both in my room). If you only need to cover 16 or so feet than go with the first. If you need 33 ft. I'd say go with the 2nd option- that ones a 33 footer that has real good performance for price ratio.

u/CraigThames · 2 pointsr/funkopop

I just went into Amazon to find the link to the ones I used, but it looks like they aren’t selling that brand any more.

Oh... one thing I forgot... if you’re planning to wrap them all around inside the case (like I did), you might want to avoid the waterproof strips. They look very professional, but the soft plastic coating on them makes them pull away from the case easier because of running them at the corners (think of swishing plastic together... it wants to return to shape on its own).

If I was making more from the beginning again, I’d take a look at this set. It’s 2 spoils and comes with a power splitter. 1 spool is enough to do 2 cases (but you need to get an adapter since you’ll need one for where you cut the strip).

I'm gonna drop my resin links here and some short descriptions

First off, get some various sizes buckets or containers for cleaning. I find that these sanitation pails are great. You can also just get cheap Tupperware. I use these for cleaning vats, tools, and I always set the bottle in them when refilling.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NC1WCJ5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_kxtqDbNDXDS96

You should also get a good respirator. Any hardware store should have one.

For curing I made an acrylic box and put this lamp on it.
You could use cheaper LED strips etc. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LT53312/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_dBtqDb0VTGF28

Box. I use something similar with a mirror on the bottom. You could add foil or mirror film for the same effect.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0014QTXPW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_fEtqDbZ997GN6

Funnels, any hardware store has them. I bought a large oil funnel that I put the paint filter in and the tray also fits in. And just hang it above the bottle.

A ton of IPA! Hardware stores have this in 1 gallon tins.

Pro-tip this thing... But it's completely not necessary. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075FTFD3R/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_xLtqDbMGD060V

u/SeriousdeliriumBill · 1 pointr/SCREENPRINTING

Yep, they're LED strips, this is what I bought (2 of them). Works like a charm.

u/theChapinator · 1 pointr/AnycubicPhoton

I bought a Tupperware containers, lined it with aluminum foil, and then coiled UV LED strips around the interior walls. This works pretty well for me. Not super fast or high-power, but simple, DIY, and easy.

u/issicus · 2 pointsr/SCREENPRINTING

I was using a halogen with two 400w bulbs and 13m seemed to be good. With a low light like you you can go pretty long 20m+ .
These two 60w black lights will expose a screen in about 18 seconds. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07FSZGP1Q

u/LiquidLogic · 2 pointsr/PrintedMinis
  1. Nitrile Gloves
  2. Two sealable plastic containers for Isopropyl Alcohol. Pickle container with strainer
  3. 90% Isopropyl Alcohol
  4. Some type of 405nm UV light - I use UV strip lights

  5. Little Squeegee wiper things to clean resin off the FEP without damaging it.

  6. Optional but highly recommended: Organic vapor Respirator

Total cost was about $50 worth of materials with plenty leftover for more treatments:

  • Clairol Pure White 40 Creme Developer - Worked as the hydrogen peroxide for the retrobrite effect
  • Sous Vide machine - Cheapest one possible, allows you to have a constant temp, regardless of weather conditions outside
  • UV Light - Unsure if it was really necessary, but gave it a go under the idea that the UV from the sun helps in the process

Scrubbed all the dirt and grime off the console, and liberally applied the 40 Creme to the shell with a paint brush. Threw the console into a Ziploc Freezer bag, and submerged it in a tub of water in my garage. Set the Sous Vide machine to hold 135 F for 6 hours, and plugged the UV light into an aquarium timer to shut off after 6 hours.

Still lots of room for improvement, but still much easier than I originally imagined.
u/ckronengold · 2 pointsr/hometheater

Ok, but I asked about LED strip blacklights to make some glow paint stars on the ceiling glow. Not a bias light to help with viewing a screen in a dark room.

I'm particularly looking for a 365nm black light in a LED strip that someone here can vouch for, rather than me buying cheap no-name strips form China that don't work anywhere close to the specs they advertise.

I bought these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D7RKJYS/ and they suck. I was recommended these https://kelvix.com/product/h400-uv-wr-24v-indooroutdoor but they are $24/ft.

So I'm looking for someone who might have some blacklights in their home theater, lighting up a star ceiling, who can share a recommendation for a product that works and possibly costs less than $20/ft.

I'm using these LEDs.

They're in a shelving area of my TV stand. It's about a 1.5 cubic foot area and the whole TV stand is black. The lights wrap around the whole upper interior of the shelf so they can't be seen unless you get low.

I've got about 50+ pieces I want to display so I'm trying to work out the best lighting for any potential cabinet I buy with spending a fortune.

Edit: Here's a shot zoomed out with some of my amber glass on the other side of the tv stand.

I have the same issue near the home button. This screen protector is just about a month old.

Now, I've heard some folks claim that the protector is not glass. This is not the case. I've actually cut myself trying to remove an old cracked protector. I can confirm very much that it is glass and a laminate component to absorb damage like a car's front windshield.

I guess I can keep dumping $10 for replacements as long as they'll replace it. If not, I kept the jigs and can use Chinese knockoffs. I also have a decent UV lamp, which does a better job than the 30 second timer on the provided lamp. BTW, you can buy the components individually on ebay and aliexpress. So it doesn't math out correctly why this kit should cost $50-60 per set.

Lets do the math in retail prices:

u/evergrowingivy · 6 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Just this one in an aluminum foil lined tub full of Peroxide. Sunlight works way better but that's a scarcity this time of year

u/st3ve · 1 pointr/AnycubicPhoton

I use this (the 24W version) inside a metal enclosure for reflectivity; works fine.

I have been getting away with just a black light bulb from Walmart. But it takes quite a while to finish curing.

I would go with that if you are going for the cheap. But you can find a couple options on Amazon for around 18 bucks.
