you don't have to buy a set of knifes. you need one for basically chopping, slicing etc. you kneed a paring knife. and right now that is about it.

you need a casserole dish these fit the bill

https://www.amazon.com/Pyrex-Easy-Glass-Bakeware-5-piece/dp/B005JCZ11C/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1543594480&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=casserole%2Bdish&refinements=p_72%3A1248915011&th=1

you need an 8 or 9" skillet for small things grilled cheese, an egg or two sausage for breakfast etc..

and a 10" for larger things 3 to 4 chicken breasts, etc. I would go with non stick for on both skillets for now. Ikea has a great selection for pretty cheap. You want a good heavy solid bottom this will keep the heat at a more even level across the pan and usually will not create the massive hot spots that thin pans will.

you will need a pair of two of tongs something like this

https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/nylon-head-tongs-set-of-2/1041785973?keyword=tongs

you will need a pancake turner, 2 or more serving spoons, slotted spoons. a whisk or two,

a small saucepan for a can of veggies or 1 cup of rice etc.

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Cuisinart-Chef-S-Classic-Stainless-Steel-1-Qt-Saucepan-W-Cover/38439858

and one maybe something like this one

https://www.walmart.com/ip/T-Fal-3-Quart-Excite-Stainless-Steel-Covered-Sauce-Pan-Cookware-Silver/37228890

you should look for a Dutch oven of some sort to make pot roast or cook a small pot of soup etc..

If you watch for a sale the lodge enamel coated cast iron Dutch ovens will go on sale at walmart, sams and sometimes costco.

Ikea also has some inexpensive ones.

baking sheet or two. a muffing pan if you like to make cupcakes or muffins. etc.

I've got a coworkers who uses mini mason jars to organize her paper clips and rubber bands and things like that :)

And I'm always a fan of using a cool looking mug to hold pens and highlighters :) (I have a really cute elephant mug for mine haha)

I love surprises, but if you want an idea, I've been eyeballin' these pyrex bowls ever since I saw them at my mom's house haha

Congrats on the new job! :D

I echo using something wider than it is tall. I use one of these. It fits my hand perfectly. They also make great single-serving cereal bowls for my kids. :)

Something else to consider is: are you using an appropriate amount of product? If I am attempting to make a lather mountain, I will invariably get a little bit on my hand and the handle of the brush. If I am simply trying for a regular 3 pass shave, the lather stays in the bowl (usually).

This is the set I got. It is big enough to cover the bases but small enough to add things to down the road.

And since you aren't a big baker I would recommend just getting one of these. And two of these. That way you are pretty much covered for your baking needs.

Oh and you can get a lodge 10 or 12 inch for like $20. Really cheap. You are better off getting a really old one from a thrift shop or goodwill.

i added microfiber dusting mits and microfiber swiffer pads and swiffer dusters to ours to remove the need to buy those cleaning supplies repeatedly. and tea steepers so we no longer buy tea bags but loose leaf instead

PS we love our anchor brand glass tupperware! corningware also has they heatable and dishwasher safe mugs with lids that are our favorite for bring left overs to work! https://smile.amazon.com/Corningware-French-White-piece-Multi/dp/B00R236YO4/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1543506682&sr=8-6&keywords=corningware+mug+with+vented+lid

Couple solutions.

Get a couple sets of these.

Freezer, microwave and oven safe!

Make big meals, make yourself a bunch of little home made "tv dinners" and freeze them and save for later. Healthy, cheap, interesting and tasty.

I like to use a mix of stuff, simply because some things hold water, or produce steam, better than others.

u/mveinot · 3 pointsr/whatisthisthing

I respectfully disagree. This is the air vent cap from certain sets of Pyrex glass food containers. See here. We have a set, and that is most definitely the air release cap from them.

Further: you can google image search: Pyrex steam vent for multiple examples.

Also a sippy cup valve would have a small hole or perforation to let liquid through. This clearly does not.

EDIT: found one of ours. Sorry it's not clean, it was in someone's lunch box.

Ceramic stuff like CorningWare should be safe.

Not in stock?! If I had $33 to waste, I’d be all over this one.
