I lived in a 2 bedroom with 2 kids under 2 and was the primary cleaner so I know where you're coming from. With a 5 mo old you're going to be cooking/cleaning all the time. That said, organization and clearing clutter are your best tools. Here are a few tips outside of that. Get a toy basket for each room that your kid will be in regularly so you have a place to put toys without walking all over the apartment. A shower curtain liner like this with mesh pockets kept our tiny bathroom from feeling overwhelmed with kids toys. We also had an over the toilet freestanding shelf like this because there were no other surfaces but YMMV. I completely understand not wanting to buy more things on a simple living subreddit. Keep food to the kitchen/dining room as much as possible. For cooking clean as you go and/or use one pot recipes like these to minimize cleanup. We made the first chicken one Sunday and it was great. Build your repertoire of easy quick recipes /r/budgetfood/ /r/slowcooking/ /r/EatCheapAndHealthy/ . I hope that helps.

Hooray for clickbaity titles!

For #3, I have this bed frame from IKEA. I'm pretty sure it used to be called the Brusali. The under storage is great. I bought drawer sets for both sides of the bed but only built/use one side. So it looks like it has that minimal profile with all my storage needs.

I also really like the over-toilet storage idea. Originally I wanted a ladder shelf like the one pictured, but I think this one from Amazon is nice, and it matches my bathroom cabinets. I wish I had high enough ceilings to take advantage of that over-doorjamb storage too.

We had a fire in the bathroom and lost our wooden over the toilet storage, shower curtain, rugs and toilet seat. Now were having to replace all of the items but that gets spendy lol Were going piece by piece here. Sooooo it would be AWESOME if we could get that item :)

I chose my username because my lastname is Hensley and I was born in 1981, so, misshensley81 sounded right lol
Thanks again!

In my studio I got lucky with storage but I know that I would get this bag holder as well as collapsible kitchen essentials. A slim trash can helps. If your bathroom has no storage, something like this can help. Hang your spices on the cabinet. Use this in the shower if you need more space. XD I use command hooks near my front door to hold my keys and daily jacket. :)

Maybe something like this would help. Utilizing the back of the door for makeup storage is helpful as well. Maybe something like this . Can you put a small ledge by the outlet to put your toothbrush on? That would save a lot of space. something like this. I have one of these for my hair dryer and it helps save a ton of counter space. It's small, but doable especially if you're the only one using it. I hope some of my ideas help.

Hands down, my biggest priority right now is this desk that I want to use to set up a makeup battle station with. I have so much makeup, and I've always struggled with self-esteem so it's not much of a surprise to say that wearing makeup and making art with it gives me the biggest confidence boost I've had in years. I subscribe to MUA and I'm constantly jealous of their beautiful stations, so that's what I want!

There are other things, like this chair to go with the desk and these organizers, mirror, styling tool thingy, etc.

Basically anything to make an awesome battle station of my dreams because I'm working on losing weight and makeup makes me feel good on a daily basis while I do this big journey.

We have something like this. Do you have room for that?

I keep things organized in some clear baskets and some fabric baskets. And then some things in little canisters. I think it looks pretty clean and not cluttered.

I keep things like cleaning supplies, extra supplies, and a water bottle for plants underneath our sink.

u/LaLocaChristina · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

This rack would be good for spices and maybe this for organizing lids to pots as they always take up so much space. I would put spices in cute bottles.

Cool looking shelves would be a attractive way to get a little more storage.

You didn't mention needing anything in the bathroom but I have found in small spaces something like this over the toilet is really helpful. You can also get them with cabinets instead of shelves if you want to be able to hide stuff.

u/breezy727 · 3 pointsr/declutter

I have storage like this in my bathroom. A combo of plastic storage drawers for stuff I don't need every day (refills of q-tips, extra soap, first aid, etc.) and then over the door hanging baskets for taller items that I use daily but don't want out (makeup remover, hair cream, face wash).

Other daily items live in cute containers on my sink. I have a simple makeup routine and use the same nine items every day. Long items (brushes/pencils/mascara) go in one of those old fashioned straw dispensers and shorter items go in a glass apothecary jar. I have two other apothecary jars for qtips and makeup remover pads.

Over the toilet bathroom storage. Save your precious counter and cabinet space for important things. Hide the other stuff here.

We have a wall mounted one in our new place and I store our toilet paper there so there are no issues..

You're about eight steps further than me!

Things I like: Your shelves don't have a lot of wasted headroom.

You have pullout baskets that keep stuff from falling over and that also let you easily get to the stuff in the back.

The one thing the baskets do is they make it hard to use back-of-door spice racks, etc. But...I'm not sure that would be all that much of an improvement.

One style of storage that's not shown is the back-of-door rack. But to use those, you have to have empty shelf at the front. An advantage to this is that whatever's int he second row of your shelf now will suddenly become in the first row, and you have one extra "exposed surface" (like ground beef, ha ha). Which is good for fast access, especially of things

Spice racks are easy for keeping little bottles from getting knocked over and in the way., and you can have LOTS of "surface areas" then, because you can have lots of spices spread across the door But you can provide that inside sometimes.

And so I'm often intrigued by back-of-door storage that could accommodate other frequently used things--maybe coffee filters, or the oil you use most often. (though your style of coffee filters wouldn't work--I was thinking the cone style).

Where the peanut butter is might be a section that could use a back-of-door basket that's deep enough (with tall enough sides) to hold the peanut butter and whatever else people use a lot. Like this one intended for an under-sink cabinet instead of an upper. Or this Command one intended for holding shampoo in a bathroom.
This one is deep, has tall enough sides, and comes in several widths.

And this one comes w/ hardware to hang it on a door, but you can also mount it on the door; it would hold oil and peanut butter, etc.

It's sort of too bad that you can't get baskets that will let you fit two in a compartment, because then you could free up at least one other shelf to have space at the front.

But i do like your baskets. The cabinets are sort of hard to use w/ that stile in the middle, and skinnier baskets aren't very helpful; you're left w/ an awkward space there.

I have a wooden shelving unit from Ikea that stands over the toilet; I have some big natural fiber baskets to hide all my junk in and it lets me keep my towels within easy reach.

I'm not sure the aesthetic you're going for but I found this one on amazon that even has a cabinet!

I have a similar bathroom. It's longer, and has a wall with door where you are standing in the photo. I plan on ripping the walled space out, like you have.

If you need more storage, have you considered something over the toilet? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B5H9CJW/ref=s9_hps_ft_g201_ir02?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-3&pf_rd_r=0CFNVC7A9JC475ZD97B2&pf_rd_t=1401&pf_rd_p=2012895562&pf_rd_i=1000994781

u/timegarden · 224 pointsr/InteriorDesign

you could get a shelf unit for the area, something like this and put little decorative items up

u/iwontrememberanyway · 1 pointr/InteriorDesign

The trophies need to go somewhere else for the time being. Amazon has over the toilet shelving, or you might want a cabinet if you prefer everything hidden.https://www.amazon.com/2523NN-Bathroom-Spacesaver-Nickel-64-6-Inches/dp/B000MF462G/ref=sr_1_2?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1473253409&sr=1-2&keywords=over+toilet+storage
