I had my baby at 6:08 a.m., and my parents and MIL were at the hospital by 9 a.m. and wanting to see the baby. I was cool with that, but then they kinda hung around in shifts until I left the hospital 2 days later! I had other aunts and my brother and sis-in-law and 4yo niece come up, too, and it was all just so overwhelming. I didn't feel comfortable BFing in front of anyone but my mom, and couldn't do proper skin to skin in front of anyone, really, so if I had to do it again, I'd prob say "visitors only from 2-5pm, and please text first to be sure I'm up for a visit." So, putting a limit on the timeframe. And I did end up telling about 5 different sets of family members that I wasnt ready for a visit once I got home, and I'm so glad I finally spoke up then.

Please don't be anxious about being a good mom- you'll meet your little one and all these feelings of wanting to just protect and love him/her will kick in. I honestly don't like kids all that much, but I feel like I'm already doing a pretty kick-ass job as a mom and love my daughter with all my heart. Things that seem hard or totally foreign to you now (like maybe diaper changes, sleep schedule, reading your baby's cries) will come to you, and things will start to click and you'll gain confidence as a mother. And it'll take time because you AND baby are both new to this! But trust me, you'll be an awesome mom and the best mom to your child. :)

And the (litterbox) sitz bath is a little awkward to sit in, I know they make things that fit in your toilet seat for this purpose:

Best of luck to ya, you're going to do great with your husband!

I agree with some of the other people that an 'experience' gift would be cool, a concert or spa day, but those aren't always feasible so I'll give you some gift gifts that have worked great for my mom.

Handmade soap! I was gifted some from here a while ago and it is amazing.

Some necklaces here and here off of etsy. I'm getting the gold one for my mom, I love the other one too.

I just discovered this expansion pack for Cards Against Humanity called Crabs Adjust Humidity and it looks AMAAAZING. Getting that for the family for Christmas. While getting the link I just noticed there are a few volumes too. Basically from the preview they look 10x as outrageous as regular CAH.

Have you heard of Humans of New York? He put out two books, one of them is 'Little Humans' that focuses on the kids he's taken pics of. My mom used to be a kindergarten teacher so I think it'll be great for her, kinda depends more on what your mom is like or if she'd be into that sort of thing. The other book would be more 'universally liked' but this one just came out this year.

Your mom sounds kinda zany so she might like this book too. I've given his books for several gifts to various people. They're just super chill and a lot of the pics have a neat message. I tore out several pages and have them framed around my house so maybe even buying the book for yourself and framing a page could be cool.

I got my mom a Sephora perfume sampler thing for Mother's day. One of those that comes with like 10 mini vials and then with a coupon for a free full size bottle of whichever she liked best.

Is she into makeup stuff? A birchbox subscription could be cool. I used to have one, they send you samples and sometimes full sized items once per month. There are a number of companies that do that too so you could shop around.

This is....kind of weird... but seriously the reviews are amazing. And it actually is like the most healthy way to do it. I'm getting one for me and my parents for xmas. They have a two pack for cheaper. It's kind of awkward but if your family is like that (mine are a bunch of jokesters) then it might be fine!

Wellll that's about all I can think of right now, hopefully something helped!!

Gosh, I'm so sorry. If it really is a pilonidal cyst, you need to have the whole area removed. They should have taken the whole thing out the first time. If it is a PC, the recovery may be uncomfortable for a few months, but if you don't take care of it now it will get more painful, and can become infected causing more painful and expensive surgeries.

Here's my free advice (lengthy but worth every penny lol)

-Make sure your surgeon understands what they are talking about, and are current with what these cysts are and treatment. Don't be afraid to get a second opinion. Ask about the length of hospital stay and post op wound care. If they want to suture it closed, get out of there. That's a good way to have a reoccurrence and infection. Which I'm guessing you don't want.

-The wound is basically like taking an ice cream scoop out of your back. It may go to the bone. It will need to be left open and will heal from the inside out. Your body will create 'granular tissue' that fills it in. In a couple of months, skin will grow to cover it. You will NOT have a lasting scar at all!

-They may offer you either 'packing' or a wound Vac. Go for the Wound Vac. It gently pulls your tissue up, and in recent studies it's been shown that the wound will heal the granular tissue faster and with less pain and trauma to that area. They will have them at the hospital, and will give you a portable one for at home. My daughter carried it in a backpack so it wasn't really noticeable. But it does make a farting sound every so often. Not awesome for a 14 y/o shy freshman :/ )

-My husband had his wound packed with gauze (back in 1983). He had to have his mom change it twice a day for 6 weeks. If this is your only option make sure you get strong pain meds. I suggest for the first month or two go to the wound care clinic and have them do it.

While at the hospital:

-Get as much information as you can. Bring someone who can be your advocate. Obviously, in our case, as her mom that was me. It has to be someone who has a cool head and can listen to the care team to process what they are saying to help you. If you don't have a person to help, keep some note cards or a journal next to you and write down all of your questions as they come to you. Make sure they are answered in a way you understand. Don't be afraid to ask more than once or twice. My thoughts on hospital staff- If you're nice, ask the nurses about their families and don't yell at them you'll get much better care. Be assertive but not aggressive.

-Take any and all pain meds you need. It might start with (most likely) morphine, but they have everything available. Don't be afraid to ask. If you have a history of abuse, they can help monitor so you don't get on fragile ground. They gave my daughter an rx for morphine patches, Vicodin and Xanax for wound changes. Because they caused her severe pain but also anxiety. She never needed the patches and she stopped needing the others after two months. She takes a Tylenol or Motrin every few weeks now. Her granular tissue is healed, her skin is getting thicker, but it's still a bit tender.

Post surgery:
You won't be able to sit on your bottom or lie on your back for a few weeks. Get this body pillow - called the Snoogle was recommended by her Physical Therapist while in the hospital. You could get one now, it might help release the pain in your lower back before surgery. It was VERY helpful and worth the trip to the baby store on the way home. These inflatable waffle pads are also great for when you can lay on your back without putting pressure on the coccyx -- and far better than the inflatable doughnuts they give to some people.

You won't be able to get it wet, so get some dry spray shampoo, and you can use these disposable wash cloths to bathe yourself as needed. Showering wasn't too hard, the wound Vac is sealed and I just set it outside the shower while she was in it. Once she was done with the wound Vac and able to shower again the wound care team recommended this tea tree body wash from Trader Joe's .

I have a list of post op necessities, I can post if want (even more) information lol. I figure knowledge is power, so if you go in knowing what you want, what to ask about, and knowing what's coming up, you'll feel more in charge and have control/agency over your own care.

Best of luck, let me know how it goes! Maybe it's not this at all :) 🤞

Do you bite your nails? I ask because I used to bite mine really badly until about four years ago when I was finally able to quit for good and mine looked a lot like yours do now.

So the good news is that there are a few things that you can do to make them look better but the bad news is that it takes a really long time and you probably won't see much difference by the time you go to the wedding. For the short term, maybe consider press-ons? They've come a very long way since we were little and there are many out there that at first glance, look completely natural, even on less than perfect nails. Look for the ImPress brand (usually like $7-8 or so) and get ones that look pretty simple and natural like a french tip and unless someone is really staring at your fingers, I doubt they will notice!

For the long term, what I've done that's helped is to get into a nail care routine. Cuticle oil, nail file, orange sticks, and a cuticle trimmer or liquid remover are the tools you'll want. Two to three times a week (at least in the beginning, you can do it less frequently once they start to look like you want them to) take an orange stick and use the flat side to gently push back the skin around your nail. Some people oil them first to help soften them, I just usually do it after a shower while they're softer anyway. Then use the trimmer or liquid remover to get rid of the dead skin that's pushed back. I personally like this kind of trimmer but you have to be really careful that you don't accidentally cut the live skin. You're really just shaving away the dead skin with it. There's also this kind of nipper some people prefer and then there's the liquid stuff like this that dissolves the dead skin with no trimming required at all. It's all really just what you're comfortable with. Then oil them up when you're done, and if possible, oil them as many times a day as you can remember to. I try to do it at least once in the morning and once before I go to bed.

Then with regard to filing, let them grow out a bit more and like someone else suggested, file the sides down where they flare out, but only at the free edges. You should try to avoid cutting altogether. For rounder nail beds, a round shape tends to look better IMO.

So, forgive my awful MS paint skills but I drew on your pic a bit to help illustrate what I'm talking about. On your pointer finger, the spot that I circled is the area you're wanting to try to grow out and reattach to the nail bed. On the middle finger, I tried (I know, terribly lol) to illustrate how it would look after your cuticle line is pushed back over time and the nail bed reattaches along the sidewalls and then of course the white part is grown out and filed in a round shape. It all comes down to permanently pushing your cuticles back to expose more of the nail bed and allowing the sidewalls to reattach at the tips. Also, when you clean under your nails, be super gentle and don't push back the skin underneath - you want that to reattach to give you longer nail beds.

A lot of it just genetics and mine still don't look like nail blogger nails, but doing this has made a huge difference. I started really noticing results in about six months and now, you'd never know that they used to be super short. I still have some flaring on the sides, but I just file it away. I know this is like novel length, but mine used to look almost exactly like yours (except I had no white edge because I bit it all off lol) so I can totally relate to how you feel! I'd quit biting for a couple of months and then get so discouraged when they didn't look any better and just give up and bite again and it wasn't until I started really putting in the routine and effort that I was able to make it look better. I hope this helps! :)

Hello lovely! You seem to be doing awesome! I mean, they're already pink, you totally know what you're doing. ;)

Okay, so for the chipping so quickly, check out this super crappy video!. I never could find a close up of exactly how to do it on Youtube, so yeah. There's my face. This will help to extend the life of the top coat and thus mani! If it gets on your fingers, no biggie. It comes off in the shower or with acetone. :)

Here's what I use for a base coat, and generally for making my nails long and strong. Bats suggestion is another super common one! This one just happened to work well for me to help with chipping, so I figured kill two birds with one stone. I pair this with (I go through rotations and use what fits my needs...) either seche or this quick dry topper Poshe. Both seem to be nice, but I have noticed Poshe can be easier on the cuticle edges when it dries... Less pull of the coloring perhaps?

This is the set I use for clean up around the cuticle edges right now. The "ideal" is to paint a centimeter or something AWAY from the cuticle, then use the brushes (I dip in pure acetone) to perfectly clean up the line or round it out! The top coat generally should land/start in that blank space, so it's double effective to paint away from the edge initially. :D

Also, it will make a huge difference if you start pushing your cuticles back! I use this metal set because I'm irrationally terrified of getting splinters from the wooden ones. I use a cheap walmart cuticle softner before pushing back, but this is my dream formula since it's so highly recommended. BY pushing them back when you start to see them, it helps clear the nail and thus have less to let the polish stick to! Hurray! You're not supposed to use the scary looking scissor thingies too often, but I do use it on one very specific corner on my left thumb. I have one stupid stubborn cuticle skin flap that refuses to go away without being gently tweezed/cut off. I always make sure to wash with an anti bacterial soap immediately after and like to slather on some delicious cuticle oil LIKE PUMPKIN BANANA BREAD after to give them some softness again!

If you've got any more questions, I WOULD LOVE TO HELP YOUUUUU. <333

Yes! This was something I put a lot of thought into when I was really sick.

  • /u/mnicoleb1773 already mentioned body wipes, which is an essential for the spoonie life. We're living in the golden age of body wipes and I love it. There are the medical grade ones (like these) and the fancier ones they sell in stores now for, like, "active people on the go", and the deodorant ones just for underarms, or whatever. For vulva-owners, I definitely recommend a wipe designed for that area.

  • After the wipes, a good body powder is sometimes helpful (I love Lush's "silky underwear" to use under arms and the underboob area).

  • For hair, if yours is short enough you can use rinse-free shampoo (some even come in a shower cap form where you just put it on and smoosh it around and throw it out). I usually fared better with dry shampoo and a re-hydrating spray for curly/wavy hair since my ends tend to dry out.

  • And then there's shaving. Get an electric shaver that works dry. I got this basic one for $18, and it's absolutely good enough. I even use it on underarms after getting the area clean and thoroughly dry (a tiny bit of powder rubbed in before is helpful to reduce friction).

  • Another option for shaving is the shave cream by EOS. It can be used dry! And it works as long as your razor is good and sharp and you go a tiny bit slower. (I wiped a damp washcloth on my legs first and that seemed to help) And then follow it with a damp cloth to get the residue. And you can just be sitting on the floor to do this anywhere.

  • When I was feeling ambitious enough to shower, a stool was essential. My shower is tiny, and this one still fit. If you've got a bigger shower stall (or even a tub!) you can find some cuter shower chairs, even.

  • And I would sit to floss. And really just, any time that it was logistically possible.

For your first time I would recommend trying GA at least once. There's a whole different vibe there and there's a sense of community that's pretty fun. The walk to the venue can be long if you're camped far out, but if you plan to just stay in the venue for most of your time aside from sleeping and getting ready for the day then it's not really a big deal. I always rent a locker ($50 for the whole weekend) and keep a hoodie/blanket/hammock/etc in there so I don't have to carry a bunch of stuff around. You can also charge your phone at the locker stations so that's nice. It's definitely worth the money.
There's also a water park where you can shower (and play in the water and eat 🙂) if you decide to go the GA route and don't want to deal with the gross (and apparently cold) GA showers. $20 for a day pass and there's a shuttle that takes you to and from the campgrounds.
Baby wipes are a must. Bring more than you think you'll need - this year when it rained they were a life saver to use before bed to clean our feet and legs off. You can also get body wipes (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001G7Z0RO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 these worked well) and use them at the end of the night if you need to feel clean before going to bed.
If you use Facebook just like Electric Forest and you'll be able to see when wristbands go on sale and when they announce the lineups. The EF website has a lot of helpful information too so just peruse around there. There's even a FAQ section.
I hope this is helpful. Welcome to the fam 🙃

These were one of my “bring things to give out” items ... super cheap lifesavers that can tend to make people call you a “hero”.

I wish I had brought more breakfast food (I brought bacon, sausage, milk, coffee and pop-tarts). I kinda felt like an asshole while I was eating like a king right in front of all of my new friends, lesson learned. :)

Whatever works best for him; I would always wash my shoulders with my hands in the shower, so if he can get some cleanser on a soft brush in the shower that will make it easier to rinse off. I just found this on Amazon and it looks like it would be a nice gentle scrubber. Apparently they even make things to help you put lotion on your back!

By "don't overdo it," I mean the exfoliants I linked to are pretty high-strength, so even though it's his back and not his face you'll want to take care not to do it too often or it will probably dry out his skin and make some things worse (I can't say how often would be best, it will just be trial and error). Paula's Choice sells more gentle, lower-concentration exfoliants if the ones I linked are too hard on his skin.

u/quirkiestquark · 2 pointsr/TwoXChromosomes

be religious about moisturizing. seriously every time your hands get wet/ you clean anything/ you are bored... whatever. after a while hopefully your cuticles will be more moisturized and stop catching if they do that (mine did) I like this neutrogena one.. its a little greasy but that makes me feel like it is really working, and it doesn't feel like it washes off right away.

I would also really recommend NOT cutting your cuticles for a while- if they are really ragged it can be tempting, because it may seem like it will help, but until they are properly moisturized its not a good idea. once you feel like your cuticles are very moisturized you may want to try a chemical cutical remover (I use this one)- its harder to create jagged edges or take too much skin off, and helped me immensely because I had a big problem with picking, but after some serious moisturizing and the cuticle remover there was nothing to pick and my cuticles looked great!

hope this is helpful!!!

You just rinse but don't use it on the ACTUAL bits. Since you are using a chemical to dissolve the hair you do need to be careful.

Since the anus, and especially your actual genital skin, is rather sensitive you want to not hurt your self. Spread the nair in a thin is layer across the hair you wish to remove. Though the backdoor is a bit more resilient and it wont be bad if you get a little on the old rusty sheriffs badge . So it's more the front bits to worry about. As long as you are careful and follow the instructions exactly it's all good! :)

EDIT: Make sure to either buy an applicator or get some nitrile gloves to protect your hands. Also I have heard you can use it on your actual junk if you get the sensitive areas stuff, just don't leave it on for longer than instructed.

Also IF you can trim the hair first it helps as it makes the Nair not have to eat through so much hair.

Becca, you will LOVE this

I think these things are pretty nifty and everyone should own them. Makes getting the last bit of toothpaste out much easier! Plus, it may save you a tiny bit of money because you are utilizing all of the toothpaste :)

Also, this was gifted to me recently and has saved me from the headache of untangling headphones and other such chords. Plus, it has the little clip so that you can easier attach it to your backpack, purse, or jeans.

> "The Original Squatty Potty - Made in U.S.A. As seen on Shark Tank and The Howard Stern Show

> If you are a new squatter, the 7” is a great place to start or if consider yourself an advanced squatter, a 9" Squatty Potty will work best. Younger children should use a 9 inch Squatty Potty while teenagers tend to prefer the 7 inch height

> The Squatty Potty may feel different at first, but the body quickly adjusts and the new healthy way of eliminating quickly becomes second nature

Would legit recommend, though!

I happen to be a gym rat already so I work out most of the time before showering. But sometimes I get in slumps and don't work out at all. If you're really concerned about appearances, go in the middle of the night. Most Planet Fitness, Anytime Fitness and 24 Hour Fitness are open 24/7. So are many smaller gyms. They give you an access card and you can go when nobody else is there. Also just buy a gym bag with a team logo on it so you look like someone who works out. Don't carry your whole life in your shower bag; make it look like you're there solely to work out and/or shower. If you take a hiking backpack in the gym, people may notice! :)

I've noticed some 24 Hour Fitness in Colorado and San Diego have no shower curtains; LA Fitness has partly transparent ones. I avoid those specific locations. Not into voyeurism. But yeah I take my bottle of body wash and shampoo into the shower. I pay my due just like everyone else. Definitely bring all your own stuff and invest $10 in a pair of sandals/flip-flops to wear in the shower.

There are also full-body shower wipes when you simply do not feel like being around a bunch of old, naked dudes talking about sports and politics in the locker room.

https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B001D8ZGAM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_dp_T1_RlSpzb4MP5KC8

I wash it with soap and water after each use or around once a day on beach trips and it has held up really well. The handle gets sticky from holding it with lotioned-up hands, but if you clean it regularly it's not an issue. It's honestly so helpful, even when I'm on vacation with friends and family, because then I don't have to rely on anyone else getting out and drying off to help me get my back covered.

YES. SO TRUE! My boyfriend and I kept telling ourselves stuff like "they can't be that good, we don't need one, blah blah."

We finally bought one because he saw a sale and we LOVE IT. We also got a squatty potty stool and it is great. The experience of pooping has been transformed. You can get both for like $60 or $70 bucks total on amazon.

Our bidet is this one and I got this squatty potty.

OP, seriously. Bidet. Squatty potty. You won't regret it. Except maybe you will then regret that not every toilet in your life is as richly equipped as the one at home. Pooping elsewhere sucks ):

u/raanne · 3 pointsr/Parenting

I used the peri bottle and the numbing spray a lot if I remember correctly. But seriously - the sitz bath - $9 from amazon - you fill the bag with the absolute hottest water you can physically stand, and put in some epsom salt (in the basin), and you just sit in it. When the water starts to get cold, you undo the valve a little, and new super hot water comes into the bowl. Its awesome. You can probably pick one up at CVS or something - they gave it to me at the hospital after my son was born. Probably charged my insurance $100 for it too. :)

My son was in the NICU for a few days, so I was walking around, but i didn't have anything with my tailbone, and I imagine that is where a lot of your pain is coming from as well.

Did they give you the numbing spray and the peri bottle? I think I used the peri bottle for a really long time. I would fill that up with really hot water before I would have to "go" and then I would use that, and just pat dry.

Not sure what I did about work tho... I feel like I brought an extra peri bottle in to work. In fact, I'm pretty sure I did.

It took longer to heal internally than externally, so when I say 5 months, that was just for all the internal areas to be at 100%. And at the end it was more like having a scrape inside me that was slowly healing, it wasn't intense pain. Just made intimate times uncomfortable, which I credit my husband a lot for not pressuring me at all.

I never see anyone on here talk about shower alternatives so I figured I would share one of our tricks. We use these wipes at a different gathering we attend that doesn't have showers. You can stay reasonably clean using antibacterial wipes, and they are great after a long day. Baby wipes are great for wiping the dust off your face as well. I keep little package in my camel back at all times.

u/This-is-Peppermint · 4 pointsr/AskWomen

If you smell, that's going to be a pretty insurmountable problem.

However, if you're just a little unkempt, that can be easily remedied.

Get a pack of Face blotting papers or just cut up a bunch of coffee filters and keep them in a ziplock bag in your school bag. Wipe your face off in the bathroom with them before you go into class. (blot off sweat first with a paper towel, or else the sweat will use up all the blotting paper and you'll still have that day's worth of oil/grease on your face). Fix your hair, use paper towels from the bathroom if your hairline/hair is sweaty. You might want to carry a little container of hair product if you use hair product to look your best or if your hair after work looks really unkempt.

You can also use body wipes if you suspect that deodorant reapplication just to your underarms isn't cutting it.

for me, personally, i get it that life isn't always perfect and we aren't always looking our best. I wouldn't brush off a guy in an evening class who didn't look his best because he had obviously worked a long day before the class. However, odor WOULD be a huge turn off, because even if I'm willing to talk, I'd have to do it from farther away. Anyway, hope you can use some of my quick freshening up tips so you won't look/smell your WORST at this class.

u/runreadrun · 3 pointsr/running

A strange look here and there, but no one said anything; I guess it's not that uncommon to see people running since people do it all the time to catch flights. I just took it at a jog and wore basketball shorts instead of running shorts, basically tried to play it low key. If you're planning on doing some airport running, I recommend ShowerPill–large body wipes to clean yourself up when you don't have access to a shower. They're a lifesaver in situations like that.

I had a vaginal vac assisted birth resulting in 3rd degree tear + episiotomy. My vagina was a nightmare.

I had tucks pads that I would keep in the fridge and put on my heavy duty Always pads to help my stitches(they're meant for hemorrhoid use but have witch hazel in them), I bought more of the mesh underwear since my hospital only provides 1 pair, I bought a sitz bath that can sit in your toilet(it saved me from sitting in a tub since getting down & out was a problem), I didn't breastfeed so I was also taking ibuprofen for pain relief.
Plus comfort foods husband would get me and lotsssssss of water to bring down the swelling in my feet & ankles.

Hope that helps!

u/zombiethoven · 1 pointr/BabyBumps

I would go ahead and consider an enema. You can buy fleet's or soap suds enemas but by far the most effective IMO are the glycerin suppositories. They may cause some cramping/digestive discomfort for a few minutes but they are the best for complete emptying. Take as needed until normal bowel function returns.

Make sure that you are incorporating plenty of fruits and greens in your diet and drink plenty of water. Switch to a non-constipating prenatal (look for chelate instead of regular Iron- still constipates but not nearly as bad). Also consider one of these https://www.amazon.com/Squatty-Potty-Original-Bathroom-Toilet/dp/B007BISCT0. I think it made the biggest difference in my ability to go.

Get your butt to a specialist surgeon .... someone who knows what he or she is doing with a pilonidal cyst. I had one as a teenager, got it lanced, removed a few months later, got married, pregnant for my first child, and the lovely thing reared (hah! pun) its ugly head again. Same doctor lanced it again. I still have it several decades later, but it has not filled again. Painful!!!! I don't ever want to go through that again. May I suggest a sitz bath ... its a basin that fits in the toilet and you run warm water in through a bag hung somewhere above you. The warm water is soothing and keeps the darn thing clean. I see that doctors don't prescribe them any more, but mine was a life saver. Grab your laptop or your tablet or whatever, and set yourself down for several minutes!

Nice! A few questions & suggestions...

  • Why the gum? I don't know anyone that regularly chews non-nicotine gum (though I'm sure they're out there). It's not going to benefit them nutritionally nor will it help them out in the elements, so it just seems kind of odd. I mean, if they enjoy it, then that's great! But it seems like to me that you could get more happiness-for-your-buck by giving them something with utility, or that a larger portion might be able to use or enjoy. Perhaps a small bottle of aspirin or something.
  • Also not sure about the hand sanitizer? Just thinking out loud here, and maybe I'm just an anomaly, but I also don't know anyone that uses that stuff with any regularity. I know parents will sometimes keep some around if they have young kids, but none of my friends or family carry it that I'm aware of. If it were me, I'd probably prefer bathing wipes, though that might break your budget.
  • Another idea that might break your budget, would be to put everything in some kind of a duffel bag or backpack; if I know anything about the homeless, they value their bags. The problem with the plastic grocery bags is that they create a lot of litter, and they won't hold up for very long at all in the wild.

Anyways, keep up the good work, they are members of our society just like everyone else, even if they're often forgotten and/or become a victim to an endless cycle of arrests.
u/ano463s · 2 pointsr/AprilBumpers2018

OH!!! And I almost forgot... This might not work for everyone, but if you're feeling constipated/gassy... consider a Squatty Potty or an equivalent. A tube wringer or tube crimper. Here's an Amazon link for one that my sibling bought me as a Christmas gift (as they always squeezed the tube from the center and drove me insane). They got it half-jokingly, half-serious, but it's seriously such a great tool and I get every last bit of toothpaste out.

Stuff for camping probably more cost efficient maybe. Anything that cleans and kills bacteria. I know that there's a brand gyms usually carry, maybe even just the antibacterial hand wipes or sanitizer for your hands and then a shower wipe for the rest so at least you don't touch your eyes and get sick that way, then just get clean enough so you don't stink.

There's dry shampoo too. Or wash your head in a sink and then wash your face with face wash.

As a 1 oz/day user, I poop regularly at 8 am each day. I even wake up at 8 to poop on days when I can normally sleep in. I rarely poop twice in a day.

I just make sure I do two things:

  1. Drink a 32oz tumbler of ice water with each dose. (I drink 4-5 of those a day anyway.)
  2. Eat a high fiber breakfast. (my fav)

Another thing that helps, but is not necessary, is a squatty potty. I used to use it only when constipated (when on other opiates), but now I use it as much as possible, because it just feels right.

Finally, when nothing else works, a 1/3 - 1/2 bottle of tart cherry juice will get things moving.

The only thing that will for-sure-every-time constipate me is the capsules, so I avoid those like the plague.

Ladies, I invested in a squatty potty and it's been a god send! I have major constipation this time around and I can tell it will be my savior post partum. First time around I was just like you!

u/darthjenni · 5 pointsr/dementia

I camp a lot. I have tried many bathing wipes, and camping shampoos. I like Clean Life Products: No Rinse.

The bathing wipes are designed to be microwaved so she can get a warm wash.

The No Rinse Shampoo is also really good. When I am in the backcountry I rinse it out with warm water, but you don't have to.

These people don't mess around. You can get it by the gallon.

u/simplythere · 7 pointsr/xxfitness

I've never had jock itch, but since I grapple, there's a high risk of spreading skin infections like ringworm. I use a body wash with tea tree oil on gym days. I'll also use the Defense Soap Body Wipes when there might be some time before I can get to the shower. Instead of wiping down benches at the gym when I lift, I bring a towel to cover it so I can reduce skin contact with the equipment (my sister got scabies from the gym before her wedding so I'm super wary of it now). I also put a clean towel over my car seat when I'm driving home to reduce the spread of gym germs.

u/ShadowL42 · 1 pointr/funny

You HAVE to get one of these

I got one last year ant it is amazing, they are pretty cheap, get one for sun block, and one for the lotion after.

They actually make some lotion applicators like this. I haven't used one but it seems like it would work.

u/geektophat · 3 pointsr/bikecommuting

I would like to add the body wipes have been a part of health care for ages and now some venders have made them more sporty and less like something the belongs in a nursing home. Check out this or these. There several others but those are the ones I have heard the most.

u/ElGoddamnDorado · 3 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

You could get a back applicator like this. I've always just been able to reach my whole back with my hands though. Curious, can you touch your hands behind your back like so both ways? It could be a shoulder flexibility issue.

My new routine: Put Abolene on back before shower. I consider it a mineral oil treatment. As a body wash I use Selsun Blue Naturals Shampoo with SA (it's 3% and amazing), this is my only body wash. I use a soft loofah brush for back. After patting dry I use Mario Badescu Honey Moisturizer on my back, this is a AHA and vitamin face moisturizer, and has been amazing for my skin. This routine is time consuming and a pain doing but the results have made it worth it.

I use this back brush for lotions: http://www.amazon.com/Aquasentials-Aqu-3611-Easy-Lotion-Applicator/dp/B001D8ZGAM/ref=sr_1_2?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1397125828&sr=1-2

I don't continuously use self tan because I'm too lazy but I have the St Tropez stuff and like it. I use the St Tropez Dark Mousse because I can't even see a difference with the regular. Two applications in the same day of the dark still leaves me the lightest person in the room, just no longer ghosty. The few times I did continuously use it I reapplied every three or four days. The day before I reapply I use an AHA lotion like the Alpha Hydrox body lotion to exfoliate for a more even application.

I wear gloves or use a tanning applicator mitt and then use this doohickey to apply it to my back:

I'll also suggest one of the various pseudo-squatting stools, such as the squatty potty.

"Flushable" is not a claim that is strongly regulated though.

u/Jandolino · 1 pointr/korea

Stupid question - but as I tend to sweat quite a bit during summer and won't be able to always take a shower multiple times a day:

Is something like this (https://www.amazon.com/Rinse-Bathing-Wipes-count-each/dp/B00CBKLSF8/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1495470277&sr=8-3&keywords=body%2Bwipes&th=1 ) available in korean stores?

u/secondlines · 2 pointsr/bicycling

Just to throw in another suggestion, I use ShowerPill Athletic Body Wipes when I'm running late and don't have time to shower. I find they work really well, and don't take up much room at all in my bag.

u/cats_pjs · 3 pointsr/GetMotivated

the squatty pott

huh only $25. you can also just place an appropriately sized stool around your toilet, but for this price I think it's worth getting the right dimensions and not having to deal with moving a stool back and forth.

Honey, do you have a squatty potty and bidet? You could probably find both of them for around sixty bucks and they will change your pooping forever. I've also heard of people making their own squatty pottys from some wood and screws to save the $$$.

I know this wont stop the pooping, but it will make it more bearable.
