Wash your face every night before you go to bed with a facial cleanser. Or morning if you work night shifts.

Use moisturizer. Also use beard oil if you have a beard. Yeah, the rugged look is sexy, but dry hands and face are not.

Silk pillowcases are better than cotton for your skin and hair.

Wash your bedding items at least monthly. And if you wear hats a lot, wash them too.

You can use the skin treatments in the makeup aisle (anti-wrinkle cream, creams that reduce under eye bags and darkness, etc). It;s better to start using them when your younger and the wrinkles haven't formed than waiting until you look like Farnsworth.

Brush your teeth.

Drink lots of water.

Cut down on junk food being overweight, smoking, and excess drinking. Not only are they bad for your health, but they age you like crazy.

Use sunscreen!

Workout.

Exfoliate your body and use body wash.

Take care of your hands and nails. Keep them trimmed, cleaned underneath the nails, and use moisturizer. Same with your feet. You can even buy something like the Amope or a pumice stone for dry heels and calluses on feet.

I like a guy with a natural forest, but if you want to shave your pubes:

  • Trim the hair first. You use a trimmer or scissors and a comb (comb opposite growth direction of hair to make it stick up so it's easier to cut), Be careful. You want to be able to see what you're doing, not go to the hospital to stitch up a cut next to your dick.

  • Take a hot shower and exfoliate the area. The hot shower is to help soften the hair and exfoliating is to remove any dead skin cells and make the hair stick up, resulting in a closer shave.

  • Use shaving cream. Yes, you can use the women's shaving cream. You can also use shave gel or even conditioner if you want. I've found the cheap V05 brand that's like $.75 at my Kroger works just as well at the expensive shaving creams.

  • Use a sharp, new razor. A lubrication strip is good and the women's will work just as well as the mens so get those if they're cheaper.

  • Stretch your skin as you go. If you've ever seen that clip of the show The Drs where the woman complains about how men just always cut their faces during shaving and the cosmetic guy makes her shave a cucumber and a melon to compare shaving a a woman's leg to a man's face, you'll know that its easier to shave flat surfaces instead of lumpy, loose, or curved ones. So use one hand to stretch the area flat and the other to shave. Which way? Whichever you want. Against the grain for a much closer shave. With the grain for less chance of irritation and ingrown hairs. Hell, go left to right if you want. Have fun with it. Make a cool design like a figure 8, a triforce, or a checkerboard.

  • If you want to shave your buttcrack, I find it's easiest to squat down and grab one cheek and pull it towards the side. Shave that side then switch. I use an epilator though, so try and see whatever position is easiest for you.

  • Afterwards, gently exfoliate. Rinse off and dry. If you want, you can apply a post shaving cream, found usually by the women's shaving cream and the brand Wal-Mart carries is Bikini Zone, to reduce irritation and any redness.

Oh yeah, if you do that in the shower, it's a good idea to have one of these. It'll be easier to clean up after yourself and you won't clog the drains. If you have a anyone with long hair in your house or using your shower, you should already have one in every shower they have access to.
u/Jarvicious · 1 pointr/landscaping

Sorry in advance for the novel, unless you're into that kind of thing. Bear in mind again, this isn't professional advice by any means. I've just been researching this as we'll be planning and applying for a grant from our local sewer district very soon so I've been through a couple of courses and doing as much research as possible. In other words, I'm the most dangerous person on the internet and professionals hate me, but only because they have to fix what I've screwed up :).

We're also in the Midwest which means a good measure of rain in the spring. It looks as though you have a fair amount of roof to account for. You can use drainage guides like this to account for the ~exact amount of runoff your roof will yield during a storm. I've seen calculations where they say "take the square footage of your roof and multiply that by the number of inches rain you got and that's how much runoff you have!". It's not quite that simple as rain isn't (generally) an instantaneous figure but rather multiplied over time.

Q = (C x I x A) / 96.23 where

>Q = Storm Water Runoff (in gallons per minute, gpm)

>C = Coefficient of Runoff

>I = Rainfall Intensity (in inches per hour)

>A = Area of Drainage Zone (in square feet)

I like simple logic problems like this so if you DON'T, you can just take the square footage of your roof and multiply it by the average rainfall per rain event i.e. 600 square feet of roof x .5" rain = ~187 gallons of water :). This, in conjunction with the square footage per downspout, will give you a pretty good indicator of how much water you'll be dealing with on which parts of your property. The street is probably sloped from the center line down and you should also include your driveway and any applicable graded turf as most lawn turf isn't all that permeable in anything but the lightest misting.

Say for example your roof, driveway, street, and turf have a cumulative runoff of 500 gallons in a 1/2" rainfall. If ~200 of that comes from your roof, this is the water you can control. Depending on the number of downspouts you have in use, 2-4 50+ gallon rain catch barrels will easily soak up the 200 gallons in runoff just from your roof lines. Any overflow from those barrels can be run to that 4" pipe you mentioned which routes into the back yard.

Regarding the driveway, if you don't have them already I would look into trenched drainage systems. this would allow you to grade your driveway (per the image) from left to right so that any runoff from the street and drive routes to that pipe which runs along the side of your garage. Other than permeable pavement solutions ($$$$) there isn't much you can do with driveway runoff other than mitigate it. On that note, your 4" drain pipe may be sufficient but you can use calculators like this one to ascertain whether or not a larger 6" drain would be needed. Also keep in mind if you have silt or debris issues at the base of your drive where it meets the garage you'll need to get that addressed before you add any drains so you don't foul the pipes down stream with garbage.

Back to rain gardens. To use the 5'x20' example from my first post, a 100 square foot rain garden dug even 9" into the ground will give you ~75 cubic feet of reservoir or 100 cubic feet if you can make it a foot deep. This isn't just storage though as any plant matter you include in the garden will aid in slowing and soaking up storm water runoff. The average root depth of most turf grass is about as deep as the grass itself. However even smaller, decorative plants can have root structures many times their depth. These types of root structures will absorb an order of magnitude more runoff than turf grass and help maintain slope health of your yard (depending on the grade coming down from the street and whether or not you have erosion issues). You can either plant along side the driveway or plant parallel to the street so that the majority of the turf/street runoff is caught. Any rain garden requires an overflow which could then be tied into your driveway drain or drain on the other side of the driveway.

Since this will be a DIY scenario (as will ours) most of the cost will be in landscaping materials like plants and stone, but you can use the comparatively cheaper dry wells and rain barrels in conjunction with one another to form a kind of mesh runoff mitigation network. Say the rain barrels affixed directly to the gutters catch 200 gallons and you have a rain garden (or two or three, they don't have to be connected) which will collect another ~100. You could dig a dry well into series between the garden and the side drain to give another 50 gallon capacity or however many gallons you choose to utilize. Out of the original 500 gallon runoff (roof, driveway, street, lawn) these collection measures would 350-400 gallons not including the somewhat unquantifiable plant and root absorption as well as the driveway trench which will definitely aid in moving the water past your foundation.

Again, sorry for the novel :). Take what you need and ignore the rest. We don't have much of a grade at all in our land, but what little slope we do have near the foundation is unfortunately tilted towards the house and poorly drained at that and I'm realizing it's not going to be a simple task. There isn't one major resolution in most cases. I understand a rain garden solution isn't for everyone, but our orientations emphasized that while a metric ton of native plants is going to be more effective than fewer plants you can still get away with a modern looking landscape so your front lawn doesn't look like a prairie. Also, I would look into natural plant species as they're far more likely to thrive in your native soil and I personally prefer perennials so I don't have to replant every damn year. Feel free to PM me with any questions, or even to seek advice from a real professional :).

I'd recommend this: TubShroom https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M0H7YC2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_jzO1BbZZPAPBS

No strainer is perfect but my better half has long and thick hair. Her hair, as much as I love it, is everywhere in the house, including the drains. Got this a couple years ago and have been very happy. It needs to be cleaned off about once every couple weeks. If it is totally gummed up with hair it will allow the excess hair to go down the drain so be careful with that. The biggest plus on this item is that it is super easy to clean. It really does work like the product video says. A quick wipe with some toilet paper and into the trash. And you have a clean drain line.

u/jixie007 · 2 pointsr/keto

As someone with a lot of hair who also sheds a lot of hair, I'm going to suggest a "tubshroom" strainer for your shower. It will still eventually get clogged up but lasts waaaaaaay longer than any other strainer I've tried (the struggle is real, folks).

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BYRMGCC/ref=asc_df_B01BYRMGCC5001553/

Other tips:

  • When washing your hair, don't pile all your hair on top of your head and "scrub", just lather your hands and run it through your hair, using your fingertips (NOT nails!) to massage your scalp.

  • Wash your hair as infrequently as possible (once a week if you can).

  • Scalp massage can help increase bloodflow in your scalp and is the only thing that is proven to increase hair growth.

  • Don't "scrub" your hair with a towel while drying it. Turban wrap it in a towel and let it air dry. Or if you use a hair dryer, don't be aggressive with the styling brush.

  • Careful with brushing / combing. Don't use plastic bristle brushes: boars hair or bust. Combs should be wide-toothed, with not rough edges.

  • Don't brush / comb wet hair.

  • Start from the bottom of your hair and work your way up. If you're prone to tangles: be generous with conditioner, maybe even switch to a leave-in conditioner. Be generous with detangler spray (you can make your own by diluting some conditioner in water).

  • Not related to hair drop, but if you're not prone to tangles and tend to have oily hair, I highly recommend apple cider vinegar as a conditioner / clarifier. It is the only thing that leaves my hair soft and shiny without giving me an "oil slick" in two days. Use 1 tbsp vinegar to 1 cup water.

  • Don't wear your hair in tight styles that pull on your scalp. Braids are your best option (they don't pull on your scalp, and the tie is at the bottom of your hair, so it's not damaging newer hair at the top).

I'd like to offer up something practical but also could be funny!

You should totally get her this hair trap for the shower drain! It's super useful, and you could also liven it up by painting a cool, water-proof design or something funny that she'll smile at every morning!

College Bound

Surprise me!

Hair ties........hair ties fucking everywhere!!!!

We live different lifestyles too so I noticed a lot of plates and bowls left out after eating and it drove me crazy in the beginning but it's better now.

I learned women shed A LOT and I had to figure out a drain solution for the shower so it wouldn't keep getting clogged, if you need a real life saver my friend invest in this

https://www.amazon.com/TubShroom-Revolutionary-Protector-Catcher-Strainer/dp/B01M0H7YC2/ref=sr_1_4?s=bedbath&ie=UTF8&qid=1539790290&sr=1-4&keywords=tubshroom&dpID=51sVQhklTuL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

It's fun though and it's nice having someone to come home too, enjoy the ride.

u/VIPnis · 2 pointsr/CFB

My wife and I both have really long hair. Couple of things:

First, hair traps are a thing. You can buy them anywhere from Amazon to BB&B to Walmart. There are a few styles, but I prefer the ones with suction cups to keep them in place. I have a couple packs of these under the sink and they work wonders.

Secondly, if your fiancé is down, have her donate her hair when she gets it cut. There are quite a few medical conditions that cause hair to fall out and your donation goes towards a wig that could really make somebody's life just a little bit better. I used to use Locks of Love until I found out that after they take your hair, they charge people for the wigs they make. Those things can cost well over a grand. Instead, try Wigs For Kids, who don't charge for their end product and I know for sure there's going to be a child who won't have to worry about how they look after treatment.

u/eilsna · 1 pointr/AskWomen

I haven't read every comment so I may be repetitive. There's definitely a lot of specific things that I would bring myself to live with my boyfriend, but here are a few things to help her out that I like having in my own bathroom:
-a small trashcan
-Q-tips
-tissue/Kleenex
-a hair trap for your shower drain (this is the one I use. it's worked the best for me and I have waist-length, thick hair)
-maybe one of those shower hangers so there's extra space to put toiletries
-baby wipes (make sure to always throw them away, even if they say flushable! they can fuck up your pipes)
-lint roller
-baby powder
-small bottle of baby shampoo (I use this for cleaning makeup sponges/brushes)
-Febreze for when you guys blow up the bathroom

Again, these are suggestions and may not be specific to her! Don't feel obligated to get everything. Maybe ask her as well :)

Edit: Just realized I only included bathroom stuff 😐

u/BrowncoatBrewer · 2 pointsr/grainfather

This happened to me as well, and I crush my grain on the finer side (and I like that) so I've implemented the following two solutions:
First, I bought this stainless steel mesh screen and cut it into a circle using a pair of tin snips. This sits on top of my bottom plate during the mash and stops just about everything from getting through.
Second, because some of the grain can sneak up through the top plate during the mash, I bought this kitchen sink strainer to sit on top of the top plate overflow inlet.
While I agree with others that a small amount of grain in the boil should have little effect, these are two relatively inexpensive modifications that give me a lot of peace of mind. Cheers!

u/SpaceInfuser · 1 pointr/FierceFlow

I use this one. It's pretty pricey for a piece of plastic but really easy to clean out after and well worth it IMO.

u/Frozty23 · 1 pointr/DIY

Drain Zips. I have a few of these and they work great -- along the same lines as your wire hangar, but probably better reach and grab. You can find them at any local hardware or big box store for just a few bucks.

http://www.amazon.com/Faucet-Queen-Zip--Drain-Clog/dp/B000YHRAXE/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1422409079&sr=8-13&keywords=drain+zip

If it's a deep, full clog, I've got one of these that also works like a champ, but you need a garden hose to supply force: http://www.amazon.com/G-T-Water-Products-186-Attachment/dp/B0000CBIWC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422409317&sr=8-1&keywords=drain+pressure+hose

Probably $10-$20 also at any hardware or big box store.

u/Jackiedees · 1 pointr/HomeImprovement

I bought one a year ago for the tub in my bathroom and it works like a fucking dream. 15 bucks on amazon and catches every single piece of hair. Super easy to clean out too and my drains never clog any more.

Link for the lazy

u/mnoecc · 9 pointsr/pics

I'm Iranian and also removed the metal cover but it was a temporary fix before I ran into other issues. Went on Amazon and picked this up and it's honestly been the best $13 I ever spent. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01BYMTYBS/

u/bootsforacarrot · 3 pointsr/BabyBumps

This might not be needed immediately after birth but a hair catcher for your shower. I found the hair loss frightening, but this saved my drain.

Other things:
Cases of water bottles, or a large reusable water bottle (or one for every room), whatever you’re in too. Got to keep hydrated, especially if you’re breastfeeding!

Snacks. All the snacks. In every room.

When my milk came it it came in crazy. I was wearing towels in my shirt over night for the leaking. You can get some cheap dish towels at the dollar store, and they also work great as burp cloths. The reusable and disposable breast pads are great as well but I loved stuffing a towel in when I was at home.

Stock up on soap, shampoo, etc. Like months of it because you don’t want to finally get into the shower and find out you don’t have conditioner. Speaking from experience. 😬

u/imabratinfluence · 2 pointsr/curlyhair

I use one of these about once a week, because our tub and pipes are pretty old, and that's about all it takes for our drain to start clogging. If the link doesn't work, it's just a 3 or 4 pack of drain snakes, which look like long zipties.

I've tried using a hair trap like this one, but even though I'm also really careful about grabbing my hair before it can go down the drain, enough of it gets away that when I use the hair trap, I have standing water in my shower before I'm done. I'd rather just snake the drain once a week.

The conditioner isn't clogging your drain, it's hair. But it may be helping the hair clump together (which will also make it easier to snake it out). Dran-o and other pipe cleaning chemicals won't do much against these clogs-- before I bought the snakes, my partner ran ~3 gallons of Dran-o down the shower drain and it didn't do much.

If your drain has a raised, silver mushroomy head to it, you might need a snake more like this. That's what we have for our bathroom counter sink.

u/hazard2k · 11 pointsr/DIY

I've used both depending on the application. Sucking seems to work quite well. Again, make sure you plug the overflow also. They actually make an attachment specifically for this purpose, but I have just used the hose beofre with good results.

Disclaimer: BE VERY CAREFUL IF YOU HAVE ALREADY USED CHEMICALS FOR THE CLOG. You don't want that crap splashing all over the place or getting on you.

u/ramses0 · 6 pointsr/IAmA

Not a plumber but I've had good luck with these:

Evriholder HS Hair Stopper Bath Strainer, Pack of 2 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003B02L2G/

For the tub, unscrew the existing metal drain stopper, poke a hole in the bottom of these plastic things and it'll prevent 99% of the hair from going in to your drain.

It has little plastic spikes that catch the hairs and you just clean that thing off occasionally.

Sink backing up I have no good advice.

These things are awesome:

TubShroom The Revolutionary Tub Drain Protector Hair Catcher/Strainer/Snare, Blue https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BYRMGCC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_LnBMzb2H61TCM

But I do recommend that you clean out drain thoroughly before using to ensure maximum flow. I also bought this to compliment the tub shroom:

My husband shaved over a dirty tshirt and shakes the excess into the toilet when he’s done before throwing back in the hamper. Seems like a good system

This hair drain catcher was on Shark Tank and seems like it has a lot of good reviews. Or there’s a bunch of other kinds that go on top of the drain. They’re all pretty inexpensive <$10-20

u/rosegrim · 1 pointr/curlyhair

Mesh? Like wire mesh? Kitchen drain covers are often mesh, to prevent bits of food from getting through, but I've never seen a shower one like that. The ones for the shower are usually plastic, and they often have little grippy spikey things for the hair to catch onto.

I use a silicone hair trap and it's very easy to clean. I think this is the exact one I have.

u/tigertony · 1 pointr/DIY

I agree with the clogged drain scenario. A simple option for this type of drain is a Drain King. Connect it to a hose pipe and stick it into the drain pipe. When you turn on the water it blows up like a balloon, sealing the pipe and using water pressure to clear the line. You can get them at pretty much any hardware or home improvement store.

u/Nilbog21 · 1 pointr/AdviceAnimals

Actual advice mallard...

This greatly eased my transition into the wonderful world of "how the f* is the bathtub clogged again." One of the best purchases I ever made, as anyone who has yanked out a 3-month-old lump of shampoo, long hair, and bodily remnants can attest to.

Edit: That's a two-pack. Should be cheaper than that...

u/RenaissanceGiant · 7 pointsr/HomeImprovement

If you can reach the drain with a garden hose, these are great. I haven't needed chemicals in 20+ years.
https://www.amazon.com/G-T-Water-Products-186-Attachment/dp/B0000CBIWC/

In the meantime, simply putting the hose down the drain and stuffing and holding a small towel around it will often help. The drain king is nice as it is easier with one person and does a bit higher pressure.

u/BelatedBlade · 1 pointr/mildlyinfuriating

Chances are you can remove them. It’s a cover that they put on to fit with the aesthetic of the bathroom. Use a bent clothes hanger or carefully lever it out with a pen/pencil. Then pop one of these in. Be sure to check the sizing. If it’s a standing shower and the drain is in smack dab in the center, you can probably fit one of these under it to help.

u/philmayfield · 1 pointr/LifeProTips

Recently had a drain go super slow, used a cheap plastic drain snake to get most of the hair/soap scum. Followed by this method and it's flowing perfectly. I would also hiiiiighly recommend a TubShroom (amazon), replaces the normal drain in your tub but keeps all the junk in an easy to get to place.

u/jbg830 · 2 pointsr/whole30

Crock pot meals! Crock pot chili, crock pot chicken, crock pot soups etc. I live in a really old building and I don't have a dishwasher or a disposal. I got a mesh strainer for my drain like this one from the dollar store. Make a crock pot meal, tupperware the rest for the week, and then use things like trader joes cauliflower rice/broccoli rice to beef up the meals and add a side like microwave steamed veggies or a salad. Alternatively, rotisserie chickens are ok too, I just find the chicken too dry to reheat in the microwave, but they are great for making soups or using in other dishes.

u/Erulastiel · 5 pointsr/Frugal

Pro tip: If you want to save yourself money and time, don't go for the drain cleaner. They make hair stoppers for when you shower. It collects around the stopper and you just peel it off and throw it away when you're done.

Or, you can go the wire hanger method and pull it out yourself, but I feel like the stopper is way easier.

u/DrBabs · 1 pointr/LifeProTips

the top part you see here threads to a "nut" on the underside of the tub. with all that rust it might be difficult to get off, but you would just unscrew it (lefty-loosy). here's a pic: https://bathrenovationhq.com/wp-content/uploads/bathtub-drain-removal-2.jpg to give you an idea of what you're looking at.

for an easy fix, they make replacement drains that fit in what you have left: https://www.amazon.com/Recyclable-Snug-Plug-Drain-Stopper/dp/B003151V3Q. also might want to invest in a strainer like this so you catch the hair before it clogs.

u/dogfacedpajamas · 3 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

A shower curtain if you have the kind of tub/shower that needs one. Also get a hair stopper to prevent hair going down the drain! Something like this. If you have a tub and like baths I suggest a drain cover too to get an extra few inches of water/bubbles.

Enjoy your new house!

u/thegreybush · 1 pointr/DIY

for an easy solution, you could go with something like this dome grate. The obvious downside to that it sticks up in the middle of your sidewalk.

A better option would be to saw off the last few inches of the sidewalk panel and add a trench drain. This would give you significantly more surface area and reduce the likelihood of clogging. I'm picturing something like this drain that I saw in an episode of Ask This Old House

They make a little plastic/rubber jobber that looks like the end of a tiny plunger - it connects directly to a shop vac hose, and is used to create a seal when sucking or blowing a drain with a shop vac. Maybe you already have something like that? Just in case you don't, I wanted you to know they exist.

Because I like you

I recommend getting a hair catcher for your drain.

I used to have to clean out the shower drain all the time, and it'd plug up at least once a week, even though I'd stick as much hair to the shower wall as I could to throw out once I finished showering.

That little drain strainer has kept my tub from plugging up for 2 months now, best $5 I ever spent.

u/Rawtashk · 1 pointr/explainlikeimfive

Lol, have you not seen the pictures I posted at the beginning of this all?

It's worked well for me. And, yes, it takes longer than 6 months to really see progress. Are you monitoring your hairloss at all? Like with pictures, etc?

I also have a hair catch in my tub that I can see an increase or decrease in volume of shedding hairs. And those metal ones with huge holes in them do NOT count. You need something like this. Doesn't matter if it doesn't fit down in your drain, flip it up and set it over the drain and it'll still catch hairs.

I'm still losing hair, but NOTHING like at the rate I was before I started.

u/bugalou · 2 pointsr/Plumbing

Yeah, I would pull the toilet. I am betting its beyond the toilet though. If it is, you can try one of these once you have the toilet pulled. They work like a champ and are cheaper than renting a snake.

Look at it this way, its an opportunity to replace the wax ring, re-caulk and replace the rusty nuts and bolts on the mounting flange.

u/mousicle · 2 pointsr/NoStupidQuestions

Look for something like this. its soft rubbery plastic so it shouldn't bother him much and is great for catching hair. They make one for the shower too.

u/NotTheGirlUrLooking4 · 6 pointsr/LifeProTips

If you suffer from long hair clogging up the shower drain, get a tub shroom. Best investment ever.

Edit: This thing

They also have ones for stand up showers, and sinks as well. I was skeptical but I've used one for months and it's amazing.

u/RXrenesis8 · 389 pointsr/wheredidthesodago

What is your solution for the shower hair? I've just been draino blasting it when it gets clogged.

Edit: Wow I have a lot of replies!

Here are the top suggestions:

  1. Take a coat hangar and bend it into a hook, then jimmy-jam that sucker down the pipe and pull out the hair debacle.

  2. Similar to a coat hangar is this little spiky dildo that goes in easy but comes out like a horny duck. It promises to fuck the hair right out of the drain and is $2-4 online or at your local hardware store.

  3. Never let the offending hair get down the drain in the first place; brush it out first, stick it to the wall, or use a handy drain prophylactic. (again, online or at your local fix-it store)

  4. Various formulations of DIY draino, most common being bleach and boiling water. (Hot water will denature some proteins all on its own)

Here is a drain thing I need...it would make my shower infinitely more enjoyable.

u/expibotou · 2 pointsr/dogs

We have something like this, which works nicely, and bottles of the eco-friendly drain cleaner. We also rent, in a rather old German place where harsh drain cleaners are forbidden, and that seems to keep things clear.

Regarding drying, in the summer I just towel her off and she then goes along her merry way, and in the cooler months I use a normal blow dryer. None of my previous dogs have liked being blow dried, but this one gets offended when I stop. It's very sweet. Then I brush her until she gets bored of it. The only special thing I do is an allergy treatment that her vet prescribes.

I hear you on colour schemes. I almost always have black dogs and gave up on wearing much colour years ago, however I once had a black and white cat. We had dark floorboards back then, and I never noticed black hairs around the place, but I didn't need to because everything I owned was then covered in white hair.

u/buzzbros2002 · 2 pointsr/manga

Depending on your tub type, one of these should help. I personally use one of this design and it works great. Just have to empty it into a trash can before showering, which is just whacking it a few times against the side of the trash to loosen it out.

u/thelivinlegend · 1 pointr/mildlyinfuriating

I'd love one of those, but our drain has the type of cover that you lift and twist to lock in the open position. This helps keep most of it out, but some of it manages to get through.

u/foam_data · 1 pointr/Nerf

They are more than I thought in the US, this one is good, you have to take the end cap off and properly lube the plunger in the pump, or they break, use white lithium grease as the friction is quite high in them. The bottom cap sometimes needs glueing too. Still cheaper and better than a Titan in many ways.

Thank you! The shower floor, so far has been easy to clean but we've only been using it for 3 weeks. I use a daily shower spray several times a week.

The drain cover pops right out and I use a rubber hair catcher TubShroom, inside the drain, which makes cleaning easy and keeps the unsightly mess of the drain hidden from view.

I purchased this on a whim thinking "ok, how much hair will it really catch?" I will tell you it is still nasty cleaning all of my wife's hair but this thing makes it so much easier and it does catch all the hair. I was to the point that I was about ready to start spraying her down with the hose outside instead of letting her into either one of our showers. This thing really helps and has allowed my wife to be able to shower in doors. Check it out.

AND IT WORKS. :D

u/TehSpaz · 1 pointr/pools

1- Run it with the filter in bypass/boost/recirculate/whatever-your-valve-calls-it. If this fixes it, your filter is at fault.

2- turn it on, and while it is doing this cycling, go stand next to your skimmer and watch it. See if your weir door is stuck causing the pump to pull all the water it can, run the skimmer almost completely empty, then reprime after the skimmer fills back up (slowly).

3- what you described sounds like 'surging' which is often caused by a clog in the pipe. Get one of these or my preference, one of these. Put the blow bag on the end of the garden hose, open up the pump lid, and stick it a few inches into the pipe. Remove the skimmer lid and basket, and turn the hose on. You should get flow backwards through the piping, and hopefully start getting a bunch of debris you can fish out by hand.

If these don't fix it, and you're sure that all your orings on and before the pump (lid, pump drain plug, any valves on the suction side of the pump) then you probably need a professional to come blow the lines with air or CO2.

u/Loop-and-Lil · 2 pointsr/DIY

Many times in the past, I've had good success with one of these:
The black part swells to the diameter of your pipe when you turn on the water hose (keeping the water from coming up backwards), and creates enough pressure to break the clog loose.

u/ChefJoe98136 · 2 pointsr/Plumbing

It looks like there's tabs bent down from the 4 corners and you'd just pry it "up" and then have some grout to patch.

u/TheFoxKing5 · 13 pointsr/HomeImprovement

Bingo. If OP has to use it every month it means there’s a major clog and drano is doing nothing more than eating a tiny hole through it to clear it up briefly. There are also some plumbers that believe extensive drano use can damage your pipes long term.

Get a plumber out that can clear it out completely. And get yourself a drain catch like the tub shroom.

u/the_bigwiggle · 2 pointsr/Assistance

You can fix this. Where do the drains come out? You said the previous owner did some landscaping and stupidly blocked the drains. You need to find where these drains were and unblock them. You're going to need a shovel and start digging. They likely just covered over them. Sounds like your neighbor knows where they were.

If they are all mucked up with mud, do what you can to clear them out then, get a (https://www.amazon.com/G-T-Water-Products-186-Attachment/dp/B0000CBIWC) [drain king] and clear those pipes or from the top down.

Drano won't do diddly on lots of hair. My hair goes down past my waist, I've had to fix clogged drains for years. Try using a drain trap to catch hair. We have one of those types of drains that you push in the plug to fill the tub so we're using one of these and it fits over the drain, but there's lots of different kinds. That particular one doesn't have adhesive or anything to ruin the tub, and unless your tub drains really slow it won't float away while you shower. Haven't had clogged drains since (but the dog loves to snatch it from the tub and play with it, but that's besides the point).
