You are correct, it is the same kind of idea. Fast charging shortens the life of the cells. I don't know how much, and I suspect not a lot for the Eneloop charger, but I have enough spares I don't need fast charging. However, too slow charging is a problem for NiMH cells because charge termination requires detecting a temperature change. If the charging is too slow, the temperature doesn't change fast enough, and the cell gets fiercely damaged by overcharging. The standard Eneloop charger is the perfect balance of slowest-but-not-too-slow charging.

Yes. You can save a little money on taxes if you buy from B&H out-of-state, but they don't package the cells safely despite using more padding than necessary. The first shipment I received was pretty rough, and may have damaged some cells. I told them about the problem, and they sent a second package the exact same way, and they arrived in the same banged-up condition. They just drop the battery package loose in a large padded envelope, and then it flies around in there like a bullet the whole way to the destination. It's better to buy from Amazon, in my opinion, and pay the tax to be sure you get batteries that will last 10 years like they're supposed to, without any dents. However, here's the B&H ones if you're curious:

If the power flickers, the charger will reset and attempt to charge full cells, resulting in overcharge. So, you should not store the batteries in the charger.   I don't like that style because the cells are exposed, so it doesn't protect them from abrasion and dents. The steel case of the batteries is electrically active, so abrasion on the wrapping (label) exposes active electrical connections that could result in short circuits and fires. I honestly don't know why people like that product. It looks nice, but it doesn't do anything.

  I snap those together 2 or 3 long, and then I put them in the plastic bags to give them some water resistance and keep dust and bugs out. When Eneloop batteries can be safely stored for 10 years, a lot of unexpected things can happen during that time that might go unnoticed until years later when you try to use a battery. A leaking roof or spilled liquid is not as much of a problem if the AA battery cases are sealed in bags.

  It's hard to avoid those for very small devices, but it might be possible to replace a few devices with AA or AAA battery equivalents. There are a lot of good brands for CR2032's, including Energizer.

I like the bolt flash it supports high speed sync you need to push in the two buttons to enable high speed sync. Also the head will turn back when taking vertical photos and you want to point the flash head back. The one thing I do not like about the this bolt is that it does not take external battery back. But those flashes that do go for a lot more money and those external battery backs can go for $150.00 to $300.00. That's something you might want to get for weddings or something.

When you put your diffuser on you turn the head so you can take vertical photos as well. You really won't need a flash bracket like in the old days. They are still good for bouncing the light off a wall if you are taking a vertical or something. But for the most part I do not think you will need one.

This is always happening everywhere so please lets make something positive out of an unfortunate mistake. Leaving unprotected batteries in your pockets or really anywhere is a major risk and its not if but when the battery will make contact with something, It will cause injuries. Please talk to your friends and anyone you know that use 18650 or similar batteries. I know i have a bunch i use in my flashlights. HERE is a 5 pack of cases for under $3US with free shipping i just found on amazon. Most B&M stores ive been to give cases for out for free when a customer buys batteries. Please spread the word of proper battery safety

Man, I've been swapping my 18650's out a few times a day (ever since finding out a 1/5 drained batt = 20% "cycle" in terms of recharging life)... but that's on a .9ohm.

Love the tiny factor of 18350's... my new telescoping mech covers the vent holes in 18350 though, so I've only been using those on the smok sidewinder. I bought a [few of those plastic 18350/18650 cases] (http://www.amazon.com/Plastic-Battery-Storage-Holders-CR123A/dp/B009OZU6D8), line up 4 - 18350's in one and I'm happy :)

I don't think you'll find any 18650, usb-rechargeable lights with lower than .4 lumens. Most people would consider anything sub-lumen good for the purposes you describe, so there aren't many options that go lower.

If you disagree, the compromise may be to get a H600fd III like others suggested (compromising on usb charging, but gaining ultra low modes). Then get a Wowtac USB rechargeable battery. I don't know for sure this battery will fit. It's possible it is too long and you would want to check this before purchasing if interested.

Alternatively, carry a Nitecore F2 or F1 as your charger/powerbank and bring extra 18650 batteries. Carry them in cases like this. Carry unused batteries in one pocket of your backpack and move them to another pocket when drained. This is my setup for backpacking, although I haven't tried it since switching away from a traditional power bank (which is heavier and less efficient than having removable batteries).

Your last option is to get the Elf C2 and carry a separate map light if you find .4 lm to be insufficient. I don't think you'll find any other good alternatives.

Really hate I had to scroll so far down for this comment. I'm a pro photographer and my gear just eats AA batteries. I have 36 Eneloop AA's and 16 Eneloop AAA's. I'm still using my very first set, a year 2000 special anniversary set with sparkly colors. Those are mostly in my home remotes and flashlights.

I have white Eneloop sets from both Samsung and Panasonic that I use for work, and so far I can't really tell the difference. Eneloop is a solid brand, and I've saved so much money recharging and reusing. If I were still using disposable batteries, I'd easily go through $100 worth every couple months. It's way cheaper in the long run, plus it's less waste, which is good for the Earth, right?

LPT: If you have rechargeable batteries, these are an excellent way to store them for use. You can carry a dozen batteries without clutter, and tell at-a-glance which batteries are charged or depleted. I'm not paid to say this, just super happy with the product. I call it my battery bandolier.

EDIT: protip - they also will fit 3ml juice bottles. If you have a mod that uses 14500 batteries, you definitely should have one of these battery holders.

I would definitely purchase that second sleeve. Without it, it is impossible to charge your second battery in the charging case while vaping with the other battery.

I would also invest in buying a few extra tanks. You can pre-fill a few tanks before going out (keep the silicon caps!) and throw them in a little battery case like this.

I would also purchase a few blunt needle caps for your liquid bottles. The opening on the eRoll tanks are very, very small, so it's difficult to get liquid in there using the standard bottle tips without making a gooey mess. Something like this from Mt. Baker Vapor.

If you're going to use it as your main vaping kit, I would also recommend getting another micro USB cable to charge the battery case at work.

I know the benefits of lithium battery's, and i'm not even talking about that. I know they are good. But in my opinion not even close to being worth the money.

And you are seriously talking about weightsaving on a car that runs on 3 AA cells?

There are rechargable lithium batteries, pretty rare, but they are out there. And there are high voltage rechargable batteries.

Non rechargable lithium cells are just not worth the money. They will get cheaper, then at some point it will become a decent value. For now they just are way too expensive. (especially in a car that is probably the same price as those 4 lithium batteries)

There are for AA sized cases but not as much for many of the sizes specifically with some other cells. Most are more of a sleeve type deal, though I can see the validity of wanting a more "chest style" big storage bin. I find more use out of these working with camera gear and frequently changing batteries.

Also not such a debate, I guess it's more common than I thought with some specific calibers, but I've tried it with the cases I own, and none were all that practical aside from shotshell cases, which work pretty perfect.

I didn't get it from Skymail, but I saw it in Skymail, went home and found it online cheaper.

My dad's an electrical engineer, and has all manner of batteries. There was a Battery Organizer w/battery tester that looked pretty useful. I saw it in the catalog, thought of my dad, and BOOM, xmas shopping for him was partially done that year.

Also for the C/D size rechargeables, you might consider 3AA to D and 4AAA to C adapters. For big devices like camping lanterns, that will give you a lot more battery life than 1AA-to-D or 1AA-to-C adapters.

Batteries - I would buy at least 3 sets (so 6 batteries if you use a 2 battery mod)

Charger - They have versions with more or less slots depending on your needs, I use this one.

Battery cases - If you order from IMR, you will get free cases, i use these because I like to color code the sets

As for mods, I personally switch between a Wismec RX200 (mostly used at home) and a Joyetech Cuboid (mostly used on the go)

Koss KSC75 headphones. Take off the clips and just tuck them under the headband, over your ear. Wind the cord around the halo over your ear, so that at rest they dangle in the right palce. The clips snap-off and snap-on, so prying them off won't damage them.

Three inch googly eyes. Easily the most important part of this kit after the headset itself.

Yeah it’s a new color scheme for sure. They recently stopped doing the 4 pack boxes and that’s one major reason I purchased them. Some regular copper tops come in the 4 pack and I’ve seen some research that say they last a little longer than procell but the cost per battery is cheaper. If like me you hate the 4 pack disappearing you could try one of these from amazon. It’s a reusable battery holder.

I have two chargers, so I can charge 12 at a time. Any time someone brings me two dead ones, I give them 2 new ones from the 'fresh' storage and put the old ones in a charger. Honestly it isn't such a big deal. I got some storage things that look like this and I only put batteries in there that are charged and ready to go.
