This kind of change may be hard for him-especially having Addison's. I'm assuming leaving him with the grandmother during the workday isn't a viable option.

Considering this will be a big change for the guy, I would suggest looking into bringing him with you to work...maybe even switching off days? It never hurts to ask the boss; especially if your job(s) are desk-type jobs where having an old dog snoozin' in a crate during the day wouldn't pose an issue.

If it isn't possible for either of you to bring the pup to work, you may want to consider daycare options. There are some daycares that are capable of handling special cases like Scott; in my area there are even some folks who do daycare in their home with only 1-2 dogs at a time (great for the Scotts of the world).

The daycare I work for is small on purpose; we can manage the special-needs dogs more easily. For example, we have an old pup with Addison's. He does wonderfully at daycare, as long as the group isn't too high energy (like on days we have more puppies). If it's too much for the ol' guy to handle, he can retire to a crate for a nap, or just get scooped up and cuddled by the staff (his favorite thing ever). It's definitely pricey to do on a daily basis; some people drop off everyday, but most choose a couple days a week. Most daycares I've seen offer discounts for pre-paid packages and a few even offer discounts if your dog is of the more sedentary, elderly type. There's also the option of having a dog walker come in a couple times a day to check in and take him for a stroll.

Barring bringing him to work or daycare: I would start trying to switch up his routine (slowly) before you have to leave him. Transition him, instead of going from all-day-attention to all-day-alone overnight.

If your move will be over several days, bring him to the new house with you so he can get used to the new surroundings. Those time where you're just dropping off stuff and taking a breather is a good time to let him wander and check things out.

Meanwhile, set up this exercise-pen plan in the grandparent's home and start practicing alone-time there. He'll get used to the "change in scenery" while still in comfortable surroundings. Have him in the pen for a few minutes alone at first, then (slowly) work up to half an hour, 45 minutes, 50, 60 etc. If someone is home, this is a great chance for Scott to get used to being confined and separated, while having someone on hand that can intervene should any issues arise. Just set him up in a dining room whilst the dishes are being done, then let him out. Pen-time while cleaning happens, or while taking a shower. Have a tv schedule to follow? Pen him during the first few minutes, let him out during commercial and hang out watching the program until the next commercial cycle starts. Repeat process. Timing it to a show/commercial cycle seems to be easiest for most of my clients. Mix up the amount of time he's in there, starting off with very short increments, so he doesn't feel abandoned! Just like crate training, with a larger space. r/dogtraining has more resources on that.

You mentioned he doesn't like toys and isn't food-motivated. What does he like, aside from people? Burying his head in the blankets? Chewing on fleece? Licking the carpet? Rolling around in pine needles? Try to find those things he does love, and replicate them for his pending alone-time. If you have a dog that loves to snuggle or burrow, getting a bed like this can help replicate that cozy-safe-warm environment. You could also leave lots of fleece blankets around in different piles (with treats buried in them!) for some fun exploration. For dogs that like to flop in things, I've had a lot of luck with making tactile boxes - basically buy a regular cat litter box, fill it with fun things. If you can trust him with soft toys, fill the box with it. Throw in some fleece scraps, maybe a couple of rubber chew things and a tennis ball or two. Bury treats in the bottom (really great smelling treats!).

Some dogs will go nuts pulling everything out of the box and playing with it all, some will sort through it and play with certain toys. I've seen dogs nest in the box over sleeping in a bed, dogs dig through it solely for the treats at the bottom, and my favorite-dogs pulling certain things out, then flopping about the box like the would grass after a rain.

Last two thoughts: make sure you have PLENTY of water available to him (when dogs are stressed, they tend to drink more water), and if you don't already, feed using a puzzle toy/puzzle feeder/interactive feeder instead of regular bowl. You may have to show him how it's done at first. It's a great way to feed pups slowly, and keep them physically and mentally engaged.

edit If it helps, I'm a dog trainer with neurotic beasties and have moved, a lot. They always adapt, and the more you do to prepare them the easier it is. You just need to give it time and patience.Stinky treats never hurt.

2/M here. We usually have cadets on my RoRo. Three last time I was there. If you're going in June,

i assume you're going to be on for 90 days or so. Here's a bare minimum.

#1 Most important thing for ANY Mariner- Required Documents. (License, MMD, TWIC, Etc.) You can work without clothes, but you cannot work without documents.

Clothes (Your ship will likely issue you coveralls (for port visits), safety glasses, hardhat, & gloves.)

1 pair 'going out' pants, 2 going out shirts.

3-4 pairs work pants (say, 2 jeans, one khaki, maybe some Carharrt overalls.)

6 or so work t-shirts I like these

1-2 button down work shirts.

7 pairs socks, 7 pairs underwear.

Hoodie

work jacket or coat. Mostly for going out, if you work in the ER.

1-2 pair gym clothes (if you work out)

Steel-toed shoes w/ GOOD gel sole inserts.

sneakers

Depending on when you'll be in Alaska, a good pair of themals (I like SmartWool) and thick socks

Tools, etc

1 leatherman

small (powerful) flashlight & maybe a headlamp

All necessary toiletries including a nail trimmer (and spare deodorant!)

Pocket notepad/pen (or Tally Book) for taking notes. Like This

AA Batteries. Because you always need them.

Good digital watch.

Personal

Gaming system or laptop. There will be a community TV you can use and sailors your age to play with.

eBook or iPad if you like to read. Your ship will have DVD's and paperbacks, as well.

Stamps AND Postcard stamps. Send your mom a postcard every month, she's worried about you.

You'll have lots of time to pass. Fill it up with your choice of hobby. I'd recommend the gym.

Journal, sketch book, musical instrument, art supplies if you're into that.

Decent sunglasses. Good leather gloves in case you don't like the ship-provided ones.

Elastic clips for the inevitable shitty bedsheets. Like This

Probably a new pillow. Cadets get the worst of everything. Buy them online and they'll be 'vacuum packed'.

Contigo ($20) steel coffee travel mug from Walmart. Carry coffee in your pocket all over the ship without spilling it.

Stuff I always bring (or just leave on the ship)

2 bottles of my favorite hot sauce (or whatever) for flavoring bland/shitty food

3 lbs of GOOD coffee, and a Bodum Press coffee mug No 2-hour old Sysco coffee for me.

4 TB hard drive (full). I Pirate everything when home, and fill up everyone elses when I come aboard.

PB2 Powdered Peanut butter 2 pack. Because it's awesome on oatmeal.

My Fitbit. Record is 26,000 steps / 6300 calories in one day.

iPod (some ships have 'earphone' restrictions)

Over the counter Melatonin pills (low grade sleeping pills)

I'll add more as I think of it.

Likely your ship will have a 'slop chest' or easy access to shopping. I actually use Amazon Prime and everything gets delivered to us in Baltimore. I open mine up to the crew and we all spend an average of $500 together every delivery. If there's something you think you might need, box it up for mom/dad, they can mail it to you later if you need it.

I work in commercial furniture, and I deal with all manner of ergonomic products like sit-to-stand tables (electric, crank, pneumatic, spring-tensioned), keyboard arms/platforms, monitor arms, ergonomic chairs, lamps, etc.

What I would recommend for you, if you have the space for it, would not be to put an adjustable base under your desk, but to have a separate fixed, but standing-height tale in another place. The reason I recommend this is that drawing is probably best done in a space with better overhead lighting, and a more open space than the (likely) crowded space of your computer desk. If you have the space, get a ~42" high table as a separate work surface from your desk. There are even height-adjustable legs that could give you some adjustability around that 42"H, which is considered "bar height." There is also 36", which is considered "counter height." My recommendation would be to measure your kitchen counters. If that height works for you, then great...if not, put sheet pans or boards on top of phone books of shoe boxes until you get to the height that feels best. Then get that. You can also get something like this, and put it under a standard table to lift it to the height you'd want: https://www.amazon.com/Bedtime-Sleeper-Risers-Furniture-Heights/dp/B01C3RRDPW/ref=pd_lpo_201_tr_t_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=FJB3MWKZS4JQ1GPT48J2

The other reasons I would say to stay away from a height-adjustable table:

  • You say you want to draw at this height. Adjustable-height tables get bouncier/wobblier the higher up you go, unless you are spending at least $8-900. That Ikea one will "rack" side-to-side (I won't even go into the quality issues I saw when one of my clients asked me to check them out so that they could save money over the commercial-grade ones they were buying) very badly. Less of an issue when you are typing (although some get headaches from their bouncing computer monitor, especially if it's on a arm), but probably more of an issue when you are trying to draw, I'd imagine.

  • Cable management. If you have a desktop, you'll likely need to put that either on top of your desktop, or hanging underneath...which then might cause issue with printers or scanners that might be plugged into it on fixed tables. Then you'll need to have enough power and data cabling slack so that you will be able to reach you wall plugs without pulling anything tight...and then also buy under-desk cable managers so that you don't get your feet tangled up in the slack when the desk is down.

  • They aren't cheap.

I'm a former college football player who has sustained various back injuries necessitating surgery. I'm also a pretty big guy, do durability was an important factor for me. I've got this bed frame coupled with a tempurpedic mattress and it's been great thus far for over a year. It's heavy and difficult to move, but it's super sturdy and is still running like day one, as you might expect for a product with a good warranty. I made the decision to just save up and BIFL.

I would recommend a memory foam or a latex mattress if you're going to get an adjustable base. And get some bed sheet suspenders like these.

u/femalenerdish · 2 pointsr/AskTrollX

I want to second plastic storage boxes!! I packed almost everything in plastic bins (like 223 feet big ones). I stored them under my bed, which was on bed risers so that they'd fit underneath. In a small space, it helps a ton to have everything well organized. It's even better if they're not 100% full, because she'll end up with new stuff in her time there.
I suggest bins for: 1. bathroom stuff, makeup, medications; 2. school supplies and electronics; 3. cooking supplies and snacks; 4. cold season clothes; 5. warm season clothes; 6. bedding, towels, etc.
That should cover most things, but I'd say keep it at 9 bins or less. Any furniture type stuff not included.
Overall though, she'll need less than she thinks she does. Dorm rooms tend to be tiny. Less stuff increases your quality of life in them by a lot. She can always grab more stuff when she comes home for Thanksgiving or Christmas.

For example, I would say bring two towels maximum. (I brought one and was totally fine. Laundry is easy to do.) I didn't need really any cooking supplies. I used my meal plan for almost everything. A powerstrip with a long cord (6 feet+) was really useful though. Outlets were in weird places and we weren't allowed extension cords.

Edit: I had a shelf that went over my bed that was super handy. Depends on how the room is laid out, but it gave me a ton of extra space without taking up much. Like this one. That and a lamp were the only furniture I brought with me.

u/mindfullybored · 1 pointr/CerebralPalsy

This won't help you get the sheets changed, but it may help keep them tucked in. For my sister with CP we have the fitted sheet and the top sheet sewn together at the foot. It really helps her keep her top sheet on the bed for longer.

Also, make sure you're buying fitted sheets that are extra deep, even if you don't have a very thick mattress. Those will go on better. And, if possible, try using sheet clips. Like these: https://www.amazon.com/Original-Sheet-Suspenders-fasteners-Adjustable/dp/B00451BG2G

u/OrcIev · 24 pointsr/LifeProTips

Sheet suspenders! There's long and short ones, but something like that works like a charm. I've got them on the top and bottom sheets. Just put them on however they work best for you.

u/Who_Stole_My_Shit · 4 pointsr/SSU

I lived in Sauv 2 years ago but I'm pretty sure the furniture is the same in all the dorms. Yes the beds can be raised and lowered a bit but if you want a good lift on it you should get some bed risers cheap ones
the desks don't have locking drawers or anything but you can get a laptop lock with a steel cord that can wrap around the back of the desk to secure it.

Like MacDancer said, a D-ring belt works great if you don't mind a bit of bulk where it's rolled. My favorite setup was actually using bed sheet holders as suspenders. They don't damage the tights and held really well. The short length worked well with mens tights that tend to come up to the ribcage.

u/netty5522 · 3 pointsr/DesignMyRoom

honestly just do the same setup as u/carcaju suggest and mount the tv as it is in the picture, put the desk in the same spot as well. Definitely ditch the entertainment center. if that dark blue (?) lounge chair thing has 4 legs you could potentially get bed raisers like these to put creat some space for your records and games and such, and then itll be a little higher as well for better tv viewing

u/Braggot_Main · 2 pointsr/sexover30

We went with this biometric safe. It actually fits perfectly in my nightstand.

We also got bed risers which allow us to stash the Liberator Ramp & Wedge underneath our formerly very-low bed. I only found out after ordering that our bed has 6 supports (not 4) so I had to order a second set. But it was still totally worth the investement. The new height allows for better edge-of-the-bed sex too. At any rate, if you are willing to raise the bed, you will have more options for storage.

u/ChickenSoftTaco · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I don't need these, but these bed lifts are really useful at helping manage storage space better.

u/slashBored · 8 pointsr/boardgames

I definitely recommend getting bed risers (I had some like this). They help store a lot more under your bed, which I think would be a good place for games.

u/Dreamfinder82 · 2 pointsr/MultipleSclerosis

I’m not sure if this is what you are looking for, but I found having my bed higher made getting out of it easier. I don’t know if your particular bed frame would support it, but bed risers are an inexpensive option that can give a little height to make getting out of bed/couches/chairs a bit easier.

u/Vahlir · 2 pointsr/minimalism

I've owned a dozen beds and lived in a twice as many places over the years, mainly from being in the army. The best thing I got into was using bed pylons or cinder blocks (one time I used both). They lift the bed up (pylons about 6-8") which makes the area under the bed GREAT for storage. A lot of containers (even plastic ones with sliding drawers) then fit underneath.

The best part is how cheap it is. The pylons are really cheap and you can get them at walmart/amazon wherever.

If you're worried about then bed being unstable I never had a problem. I'm 6'2 and at my thinnest in the army I was still 230 and I've always had a vigorous dating life. The bed never fell off them (they actually have a depression at the top where the legs of the bed sit in and they're shaped like a ziggurat (aka Frustrum) which is just a pyramid With a flat top)

Just saying It's a 20$ fix and after 20 years I'm still using them.

edit: addendum I actually bought a set of similar items to raise my kitchen table up so I'd stop hitting my knees on it and I have a set for my electronic drum set which I felt was too low to the ground. Being tall (and I really don't consider 6'2 too tall) means you're constantly having to adjust things for height.

u/savagestarshine · 3 pointsr/lifehacks

sheet clips help , like these: https://www.amazon.com/Original-Sheet-Suspenders-fasteners-Adjustable/dp/B00451BG2G there are much cheaper ones, these are just the 1st google result

u/joanty · 1 pointr/lifehacks

Either buy garters on Amazon (been using something like these for 10 years) or if you're handy with a thread and needle, sew an elastic band across the corners of your fitted sheets.

The only way to keep the middle of the sheet from wrinkling is having it fit perfectly and not move while you toss and turn.

u/hops_on_hops · 1 pointr/DIY

Agree with the other guy that raising the bottom would be easier. Something like this might get it done easily.

For me, it's important to be able to stow the drafting table when it's not in use, so my setup is:

Folding table (found mine at Aldi for $25)

Risers to bring it up a little higher

On top I have this big board with a 1-inch-square grid that I can stick pins in and iron on. It's from my grandma, so I'm not sure what it's called or whether they're still sold. Before she gave it to me, I was thinking about buying something like this.

Enjoy your new sewing studio!

u/enkrypt0r · 4 pointsr/lifehacks

My bed's been like this for about five years and I'm never going back.

I used this kind of elastic strap, and I've successfully gotten three roommates and my brother to do the same. It's well worth the price to never have to deal with the corners of the fitted sheet pop up.

I couldn't recommend this more.

These are what I use, they are dependent on the mattress piping being thick enough to hold them, so your results may vary, but they work great on my mattress

Sorry the brain drain has got you too!

I'm still kind of new to posting things besides text, so I hope this link works:
https://www.amazon.com/Original-Sheet-Suspenders-fasteners-Adjustable/dp/B00451BG2G

I don't sell these and it's not an affiliate link or anything. If it didn't work, you can search "sheet straps" on Amazon or Walmart or Bed Bath & Beyond.

If you aren't in North America, try any home supply store that carries bedding supplies!

P. S. It was a lot easier when my very tall, long-armed husband put the clips in after the sheet was on because he could reach around the corners with the pack and play walls set up.

u/kreatorofchaos · 1 pointr/mildlyinfuriating

I have these and they work pretty good. 👍🏾

It's usually cheaper than a pillow, and from those I've talked to more comfortable for sleeping

You can pick up a set of these at a local retail store for like $8

Seems like a lot of laundry, but check out my sheet recommendation in the thread. For a mere $448 plus tax (after you get seven 20% off coupons) you could have a freshly made bed every day. Just wash all the sheets on laundry day.

Also, after a little digging, these seem to have a much better reputation than the other ones I posted. Fuck it, I'm buying some. Hurray for Prime.

u/zoofunk · 5 pointsr/LifeProTips

I've had good luck with these.

u/FriendlyContrarian · 1 pointr/college

If the bed isn't adjustable, you can purchase bed risers like these for pretty cheap from many stores: https://www.amazon.com/Home-Adjustable-Risers-Furniture-Heights/dp/B00MH74S16

u/morgf · 1 pointr/Mattress

The obvious thing is to take a deep fitted sheet or mattress pad with strong elastic all around and put it over the topper and the mattress. You can also use some of those clip on elastic bands that fasten across the corners of the fitted sheet to pull it tight.

https://www.amazon.com/Original-Sheet-Suspenders-fasteners-Adjustable/dp/B00451BG2G/

If you mean you already did that and it was not enough, then put a tight-fitting cover on the topper (if there is not already one). If you are lucky, you can find a topper cover that has elastic bands already sewn onto each of the corners. If you cannot find one like that, then get some wide and heavy elastic from the store and sew some on yourself. Or you can use the long elastic-band clip "sheet suspenders" attached to the topper cover to hold it in place.

https://www.amazon.com/ORIGINAL-Sheet-Suspenders-fastener-featured/dp/B0014AMBWK/

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0064D0PBG/

Also, if your mattress topper cover does not already have a rubbery bottom, you can get a piece or two of non-slip grip material that is also used to keep rugs from sliding, and put it between the topper and the mattress.

u/realslacker · 2 pointsr/LifeProTips

I just bought these sheet grippers a few weeks ago and my sheets haven't moved since. I'm pretty big and also have had a fair amount of sex since then.

Sheet garters.

Went into a store once and asked for these, and I musta mumbled or something, because the clerk gave me a shocked look and said, "WHAT kind of garters?"

"Sir, we don't stock that sort of merchandise. You might wish to try a store that deals in...animal husbandry supplies."

Underbed storage, yes. You can also buy risers (eg) to give yourself more underbed storage.

The views from the north tower (or anywhere, really) depend on how high up you are and which direction you're facing. I've only seen south-facing on the 14th floor and it was a pretty solid view (Williamsburg Bridge, among other things) but I can't speak for anywhere else in 3N.

Haven't lived in a 3-bedroom suite.

u/Teatap · 3 pointsr/GERD

What you need is a a full-sized wedge pillow. they're more expensive, but at least they wouldn't cause you backaches.

An alternative would be to get bed risers (example: https://www.amazon.com/Home-Adjustable-Risers-Furniture-Heights/dp/B00MH74S16). Just put these under the two front legs of the bed and you're ready to go. It's also generally cheaper.

u/thunderfalcondragon · 1 pointr/AskReddit

Interesting tactic. Did you buy one of those bed doublers (link below) or did you just push them together? Also did this bed last you for a while?

http://www.amazon.com/Create-A-King-Bed-Doubler/dp/B00438S56Q/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1346186380&sr=8-2&keywords=twin+bed+connector

u/Thoraxe · 5 pointsr/reddit.com

Better idea that already exists. I like your spirit though.

u/wyezwunn · 2 pointsr/lifehacks

Get a top sheet that's bigger than your bed size so you can tuck it in real well on both sides. I used to do that when I was a kid so I wouldn't get hollered at for not making up my bed. I just slid in at night and slid out in the morning. Done!

Or buy sheet grippers.

If safety is a concern there's, ya know, [things designed for this purpose.] (http://www.amazon.com/ORIGINAL-Bed-Adjustable-Fastener-Suspender/dp/B004I3VDWY/ref=pd_sim_hg_1)

Stacking the road case, and adding these cheap risers have saved my back.

u/computerkid · 10 pointsr/AdviceAnimals

They could get a bed connector to make sure they stay together!

u/huckler · 0 pointsr/interestingasfuck

Or just get Bed Bands!

I'm 99% sure they could hold human body weight without breaking a sweat.

u/lovetowatchthembounc · 1 pointr/sex

Maybe something like this ?

u/HotDogsAnonymous · 0 pointsr/boardgames

Have you considered using table leg extenders/risers on a regular table? Something like this could work.

u/laminated_penguin · 3 pointsr/trashy

Sounds like you need sheet clips.

u/KittenPurrs · 14 pointsr/lifehacks

Like these things.

u/BruinGuy · 1 pointr/LifeProTips

These work like magic.

u/mrs_fairymay · 1 pointr/Wishlist

I don't have many "cool" things, but I think these are really neat - no more having to adjust the bottom sheet every night!

u/gandhikahn · 1 pointr/LifeProTips

I use these and they work very well.

u/energy_engineer · 2 pointsr/fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu

Sheet Suspenders

You'll never have this problem again... There are cheaper ones too, that was the first amazon result...

u/tommyturntup · 2 pointsr/ihavesex

/r/QueeeeenSheela seriously if you are having that issue buy these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004I3VDWY?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf they are a God send. I had sheets that the elastic was basically gone on and barely fit my queen and it fixed them right up and they didn't come off for weeks. I've even turned a top sheet with no elastic into a bottom sheet with these.

u/pandahavoc · 1 pointr/funny

I bought one of these frame and put it on top of these. And it's an extra thick mattress, to boot.

u/_Square_ · 1 pointr/LifeProTips

I'm actually planning on trying these
amazon link.

They have 299 5 star reviews on amazon, so I'm going to give them a shot.

u/jasonellis · 1 pointr/todayilearned

You obviously shouldn't assume. Buy some sheet straps like these or sheet suspenders like these and they will stay on for as long as you want.

u/WD40Co · 1 pointr/malelivingspace

That's disappointing. I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Straps are great for keeping larger fitted sheets in-place and taut on a mattress. These Sheet Suspenders is the product I use.

u/schwagle · 1 pointr/NoStupidQuestions

Seconded, although these are the ones I have, which are a few bucks cheaper. I bought them three years ago, haven't had a problem with my sheets since.

u/StinkinFinger · 1 pointr/firstworldproblems

Get deep sheets and sheet suspenders.

u/Ottorange · 8 pointsr/SyracuseU

Back in '03 I moved into Day Hall and we used bed risers to get storage underneath.

u/rckchlkjhwk · 2 pointsr/funny

sheet suspenders. Haven't looked back.

u/niako · 1 pointr/CasualConversation

This is the one I bought. I've only ever used them for fitted sheets. You just clip them onto the corners of your sheets and tighten the straps

u/BCT24 · 1 pointr/rit

They lift the bed legs up so you can get the drawers and shelf under the dorm bed. They come as is it with Bluetooth outlets.

Here's an idea, I've had to use something similar and it was sturdy for my bed:

If you have a single or double, get bed risers. https://www.amazon.com/Home-Adjustable-Risers-Furniture-Heights/dp/B00MH74S16/

I have so much space underneath my bed to store stuff now.

u/SuzieQ4624 · 9 pointsr/BabyBumps

Maybe just get some bed riser feet and put them under the changing table legs?

https://www.amazon.com/Home-Adjustable-Risers-Furniture-Heights/dp/B00MH74S16

u/beard5000 · 1 pointr/LifeProTips

There are clips you can buy which pull the corners tight together underneath the mattress - my wife and I used to deal with the sheet popping off every day and this fixed it.

Bed Band for the bottom sheet. I never use the top one.

u/ChrisTR15 · 2 pointsr/woodworking

Why not something like this

u/val319 · 2 pointsr/Mattress

Don’t stack mattresses. You will not get the support your meant to get. I think it voids you’re warranty. Buy risers. Utopia Bedding Adjustable Bed Furniture Risers - 3, 5 or 8 Inch Heavy Duty Risers for Sofa, Table, and Chair - Set of 4 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073WFCV1L/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_weQ4DbVJG6CSK Whitmor Bed Risers - Black (Set of 4) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004AGP0U0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_1eQ4Db7WDHTBR Kyrieval 3 Inch Bed Risers Heavy Duty U Shape Adjustable Furniture Risers for Casters Wheels of Furniture, Sofa, Table and Couch 4 pcs https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TP7P1V8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_pfQ4DbQYT7EP8 there are all kinds. Pick the right kind and right height. Measure and know how much to raise it. Those are some examples. There are tons.

u/OohYeahOrADragon · 1 pointr/DIY

I have a basic metal frame (most similar to this without middle supports) underneath my mattresses. I want to raise my bed to store stuff underneath in some wooden drawers I made. I'm afraid if I use traditional plastic bed risers it'll break through and crush my stuff. Should I consider metal ones instead?

u/Silverfire4200 · 2 pointsr/CleaningTips

You can wash pillows yes. Put them in the washer to soak with hot water and dump in a whole bottle of hydrogen peroxide and a small amount of dish soap and let it soak for a while. If they're a bit funky smelling, put in some white vinigar at the rinse cycle. Get yourself some cheap pillow protectors/cases.

If your mattress has any body oil stains, sprinkle with baking soda, spritz with hydrogen peroxide (not too wet) and scrub with a stiff brush. Let dry, then vacuum. Then to further deorderize, you can mix cheap vodka and some essential oil (lavender is a good suggestion) and spritz. The vodka will evaporate and not leave water marks.

Then seriously get yourself a decent mattress cover, and if the aversion to sheets is finding yourself tangled in them, get some "sheet suspenders"
https://www.amazon.com/ORIGINAL-Sheet-Suspenders-fastener-featured/dp/B0014AMBWK

u/cl4ire_ · 2 pointsr/rant

Get these. They'll stop the corners of the sheets from slipping off the corners of the mattress.

u/Eccentrica_Gallumbit · 3 pointsr/HomeImprovement

The "bed" is just a mattress, box spring, and I'm guessing a standard metal frame?

Lose the metal frame and box spring and get yourself a frame with drawers, or just throw the metal frame on risers and get some plastic bins to slide under the bed.

u/SwollenPig · 22 pointsr/funny

They make clips to stop that, I used to always tear my bed up in my sleep.

Edit: here is a link to what I got. Looks stupid, but they work

https://www.amazon.com/Bed-Band-Assembled-Warranty-Suspender/dp/B004I3VDWY/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1467564558&sr=8-8&keywords=clips+for+fitted+sheets

u/FamousDrew · 1 pointr/AskReddit

This is so close yet so far from what I need. I have a feather bed on top of my mattress and the sheets (even the extra deep sheets I buy) don't quite stick. Some kind of under mattress suspenders is what I think I need. Where are those?

Edit: Hooooly shit - amazon rocks.

u/Egxflash · 1 pointr/USMC

Or you could just get bed sheet straps....same shit

Edit: Jesus H Christ, Marine. do you not know how to use google or know about Amazon? Found this after doing a simple search.

This was happening to my bed too! We bought these and they work great. We used to have the kind that go all the way under the mattress and those were a pain in the ass to deal with when putting the sheets back on.

u/GSnow · 3 pointsr/LifeProTips

I bought THESE things a year ago, because it was driving me absolutely nuts (first world problem, I know) that my fitted sheet would not stay put for more than about an hour.

I haven't had a single problem with a fitted sheet since. It just works. Period.

u/VerusDesiderium · 2 pointsr/AskReddit

I had the same problems until I bought these bad boys. Made my life.
