Here goes! It looks like I got all but 1 item from my current wishlist. Yah!

1.) Something that is grey.

2.) Something reminiscent of rain. Why not a raincoat?

3.) Something food related that is unusual. These are from Japan and Matcha flavor is hard to find in the US!

4.) Something on your list that is for someone other than yourself. Tell me who it's for and why. (Yes, pets count!) For my son! He's a nugget.

5.) A book I should read! I am an avid reader, so take your best shot and tell me why I need to read it! Guy Gavriel Kay is an amazing writer and I think everyone should read his books. They evoke so many emotions!

6.) An item that is less than a dollar, including shipping... that is not jewelry, nail polish, and or hair related! How about free? Read the classics!

7.) Something related to cats. I love cats! (keep this SFW, you know who you are...) NO.

8.) Something that is not useful, but so beautiful you must have it. I think by definition art is not useful, but very beautiful!

9.) A movie everyone should watch at least once in their life. Why? Because Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion are amazing.

10.) Something that would be useful when the zombies attack. Explain. For stabbing. It's a silent weapon, which is best. You don't want to attract more of the undead.

11.) Something that would have a profound impact on your life and help you to achieve your current goals. My current goal is to be more active as I try to lose weight, but foot pain is a big barrier to walking/exercising more. I have heard awesome things about this foot wrap and it would be a huge help and keep me from being in pain as I exercise!

12.) One of those pesky Add-On items. It's hard to find in stores now, weirdly. And it's all I wear daily!

13.) The most expensive thing on your list. Your dream item. Why? PS4!

14.) Something bigger than a bread box. EDIT A bread box is typically similar in size to a microwave. Home. Made. Cappucino. It can go right next to the breadbox.

15.) Something smaller than a golf ball. This is pocket sized!

16.) Something that smells wonderful. Apples!!

17.) A (SFW) toy. She-Ra is pretty safe for work

18.) Something that would be helpful for going back to school. If you're in college, you're gonna need one of these.

19.) Something related to your current obsession, whatever that may be. Adventure Time! Come on, grab your friends!

20.) Something that is just so amazing and awe-inspiring that I simply must see it. Explain why it is so grand. What's mrore amazing than being INSANELY comfortable? Just look at it! Get inspired to sleep. It looks so comfy, I can't handle it.

  1. this bed just looks so damn comfortable. Like you could just fall into it.

  2. graham crackers and milk are so tasty and great for a midnight snack!

  3. these adorable sleeping cat pajamas even have matching slippers.

  4. I personally prefer the dark, but this looks like a beautiful night light to fall asleep to, especially for anyone who likes the ocean.

  5. if the baby shusher doesn't work, play the baby some 80's music

“She used to say she could taste sleep and that it was as delicious as a BLT on fresh French bread.”

    Thanks for the contest!

>I've been looking into underquilts, but I can't afford one at the moment

Since you are not backpacking, there is no need to have an underquilt that is designed for backpacking. You can just use a regular quilt or blanket, like you would buy at home goods store. For example. You might be fine with getting a full/queen size and wrapping yourself in it. If not, you can hang it under the hammock as an underquilt, and use another blanket as a topquilt.

I have an "extra warmth" "down alternative" quilt, and it is generally too warm to sleep with even in winter. ("Down alternative" is marketing-speak for "synthetic", and is less expensive than down.) I wish I had just bought a regular-warmth one. I live in New England for reference. It is very heavy and very bulky. Whatever you get, be sure to account for it in your hammock's weight limit.

>My initial thought is to put it pretty high up, so I'll catch slightly warmer air.

For safety reasons, you should not. If you fall out, or your suspension fails, you could be seriously injured. Best to keep it reasonably low to the ground, just in case.

u/stevedv · 8 pointsr/minimalism

I own this comforter in queen size and have nothing but good things to say about it.

Very good at staying warm under but also cool enough to not wake up sweaty. Now that I sleep near a window, by night time the comforter is cold to the touch, so I have a fleece blanket underneath to be reliably warm (and fuzzy)!

edit: it's worth noting that the photo makes it seem deceptively compact; it's got a good amount of fluff to it!

u/AdonisChrist · 2 pointsr/InteriorDesign

I can't recommend anything handmade but I can recommend a SmartSilk duvet comforter.

It's a cotton shell with 100% quilted silk on the interior. Silk, if you aren't aware, has fantastic thermal properties - I use this and stay cool in the summertime and warm in the wintertime. Sometimes I'll use an alpaca wool blanket with it (more natural, animal-based material, also with great thermal properties) but if I get under my (high thread count actual egyptian cotton comfy as all get-out) sheets I overheat during the night and start sweating. Which is a comment in favor of the comforter, intended to highlight the lack of breathability in my sheets.

I've bought two - one years ago and another when my last was ruined in a fire. No hesitation on repurchasing, because these things really are the bomb diggity.

I seriously cannot recommend this product highly enough.

Oh, I forgot the mention, because the filling is quilted the thing's totally machine washable and dry-able with no bunching of filling whatsoever.

u/DonNHillary4-20-2017 · 3 pointsr/personalfinance

Definitely, below I'll add in the links to the sheets I buy as well as the comforter.

Sorry, can't help you with shoes though, I'm always afraid to buy them online. I go to a small local place that's insanely expensive but also super high quality, so well worth it.

Sheets = Solid Taupe 450 Thread Count Queen Size Sheet Set, 100% Cotton Deep Pocket Bed Sheets 450TC. at around $50

Insanely warm blanket, maybe too warm for most = MARRIKAS REVERSIBLE Microfiber Down Alternative KING Comforter IVORY AND TAUPE at around $90

Protip, if you don't already use camelcamelcamel.com, it will help a lot. You can catch when the price drops a TON.

u/blahblahwordvomit · 4 pointsr/RBNLifeSkills

You want a heavy fleece blanket plus a regular comforter. If you can afford to get yourself a heated blanket you will be living in the lap of luxury.

This is kind of living situation dependant but, if you find that your windows are drafty blackout curtains are a decent insulator if you can't put up something more serious.

If you can't control the heat of your whole living space (someone else controls the thermometer and you're cold, or maybe your room is a cold spot) you can keep the heat in your bedroom by covering up your windows and the top part of the door with a blanket. I'd do this before getting a space heater.

Go buy a case of ramen and a bottle of your favorite eye watering hot sauce. Sometimes you just want to clear out the face pipes.

Make a little winter survival kit for your car. https://www.skilledsurvival.com/winter-emergency-vehicle-kit/ This list is super intense but it's not bad. I wouldn't be too worried about like... a propane heater, camp stove or a gas tank. My SO swears by traction mats, but if they won't fit in your car you can throw down some sand or kitty litter under stuck tires.

Oh, don't' forget to drink water and use chapstick

u/StellaTerra · 1 pointr/Ultralight

On a whim I just did some quick digging around, and although the Costco Double Black Diamond is the cheapest solution, for those of us without access to a costco, but with access to Amazon.com, you might think about buying something like this and taking out the down. It's just a little over $3/ounce of 800 FP down, although you do have to buy 65 oz at once. It'd be perfect if you and an SO were both making an underquilt and an overquilt. $200 seems like a lot until you break it down and realize how much you'd be paying for it from a more typical source.

u/LilMeeky · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I'm trying to learn how to not make excuses. I guess what I mean is more of the ability to tell people "no", I have a hard time doing that. So I will make excuses to not do something I don't want to do or simply do it. Makes life harder on myself and others.

Items that would help with that though.. hmm o.o This cause I can't say yes to people if I'm sleeping? Idk. o.o

/u/mynthe PIETHY!!! you're awesome and just a great person. You should be proud of yourself for being all around amazing. And YO you getting Overwatch and playing with me or what? o.0

/u/ottiecat Only needed one, but I like your name a lot .-.

u/ppmiaumiau · 2 pointsr/TrippSnark

I bought this last winter and it is legit the best comforter I have ever owned. My asshole dog has peed on it several times which means it's survived many a machine wash. It hasn't lost a bit of fluff.

It's thicker than it looks in the picture, but I use it all year.

LINENSPA All-Season White Down Alternative Quilted Comforter - Corner Duvet Tabs - Hypoallergenic - Plush Microfiber Fill - Machine Washable - Duvet Insert or Stand-Alone Comforter - Queen https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VGR4VW4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_faHODbEY6CPY7

u/SarcasticOptimist · 5 pointsr/BuyItForLife

I second a down comforter. The ones available at Costco are surprisingly well put together and have a decent fill rating. I personally used a Charter Club level 4 (550 fill) and it helped me survive a leaky bedroom in Minnesota. Having thick flannel pajamas and keeping your socks on should help too.

This one from Amazon is better than mine, with nearly twice the thread count and 1.5 the fill.

Amazing summer-weight version! Perfect temp, nice airflow without being too cold.

u/karmaceutical · 1 pointr/Dads

Pick up a comforter from a discount store that has square patches like this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00VGR4VW4/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1494511780&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=white+comforter

Get fabric paint and do a hand print of your kid in one square. Repeat annually and fill up the comforter

u/brosner1 · 2 pointsr/vegan

I haven't needed to replace my comforter yet, but this one has really good reviews.

It appears to be vegan.

This one has a review saying it's good even in Chicago winters...

u/re_mix · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I'm sorry us mods are jerks :P but girlsplaywow is a jerk also so it's okay :D

But I would love to get a set of sheets + comforter that actually fit my bed >.> (They're both in my "Wishful Thinking" list)

u/tastypotato · 14 pointsr/malefashionadvice

Cheap!

I got this and to be honest, it's really not that bad especially for the price!

I put it inside of a duvet cover (of course) and this paired with a topsheet on my bed keeps me warm throughout the winter here. It doesn't get used during the summer though because if I have it on top of me I turn into a sweaty mess.

u/MrRiski · 2 pointsr/BuyItForLife

I have this thing and I love it.

It's silky without being to silky and seems to keep me at a solid temp. Most nights.

u/windurr · 2 pointsr/Wishlist

comforter?

how many guesses do we get? :o

edit: thanks for the contest! oop

u/Adius_Omega · 5 pointsr/CozyPlaces

Blanket is this down comforter from Amazon.

That door leads to a small closet so I don't need to open it all the way, the door to downstairs is behind me.

u/VodkaFairy · 1 pointr/AdviceAnimals

That's actually a duvet.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YHZPGM6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_eDhLwbQHQFAEA

This one looks pretty similar

u/sruckus · 2 pointsr/malelivingspace

I bought a relatively cheap duvet from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00635VODS/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and have been very pleased with it, although it's not the warmest in the winter. And I get to use different duvet covers for the seasons or just to change the look. I'll never buy a basic comforter again.

u/PhilipGreenbriar · 1 pointr/BuyItForLife

I got this one two years ago and I haven't looked back.

u/Shortsonfire79 · 1 pointr/malelivingspace

I always thought they were the heavy hotel comforters too.

I recently picked this cheap one for my new place. I run hot and this duvet in tandem with my memory foam mattress keeps me pretty toasty at night, borderline too warm. I've read on this sub that the IKEA duvet tends to be low quality and is "crunchy" when you move.

I was going to give you info about synthetic and down stuffing, but I realized that I was mostly talking out of my ass. Down will be warmer, that's all I can say.
