Oh I got this. lol. I have traveled pretty extensively both for work and fun so here's what I bring for work:

Luggage: 1 carry on hardside + 1 backpack as the "personal item" instead of a purse.

  • side notes on luggage and what I use: I am a big fan of the samsonite 4 wheel carbonites because they're pretty sturdy and I always choose the one with built in locks. My preferred luggage is always going to have a built in lock, 4 wheels and be a hardside. But hardside isn't for everyone...some prefer soft but I like the expandable hardsides.

If you have the money, I'd invest in Tumi...seriously...the best. A family member who used to have to travel every other week for work bought a Tumi and it has been going strong for 15+ yrs. No joke. My samsonite though has held up very well for well over several dozen trips so it's totally up to you.

My backpack of choice is a lesportsac. It's got 3 external pockets and a drawstring and flap over that buckles. It has 3 internal mesh pockets and a zippered pocket inside. I like to shove my purse and stuff in this backpack.

For business, I try to have a nice sized clutch that will fit phone, wallet and obvs enough room for business cards. I like an envelope style clutch because they can fit a lot of stuff but compress down very nicely at the bottom of my backpack. I also have a very padded laptop case that I store in my backpack. If you want to get a backpack that is a laptop backpack, that is fine too! And some people even prefer it but I personally don't because I use my backpack for fun too. They make backpacks with removable laptop sleeves, so you could also look into that.

This one is an extra but I also have a makeup train case because I refuse to go anywhere without my arsenal. That gets tucked securely between all my clothes in my hardside but of course, if you don't wear much makeup this is totally optional and you can just get away with a cosmetics bag in your backpack.

  • Packing wise? I roll my suits and shirts and make sure to stuff socks/hose into the shoulders so when I roll, I'm not messing up the pads. I always make sure to bring at least 2 dust bags to throw my shoes into. I bring 1 pair of black heels because black is timeless and sexy and on the plane, I will wear a pair of practical walking flats also in black or nude. I put my hose/socks into my heels and I pack those first. Then I start placing my rolled clothes around the heels (make sure the heels are in the dust bag...no dirt on clothes please!) Packing cubes are fantastic and if you can afford to get some, I'd look into it. Stick to neutrals that you can re-use if necessary with no one being the wiser (ie: white camisoles, black slacks, jeans) that way you don't have to bring a shit ton and you can just mix and match. I like to have a big blanket scarf because it can double as a blanket on the plane and is super chic for fall/winter. Anywho, rolling is your best friend as well as the Downy Wrinkle Releaser. The moment you get into your hotel, hang up the items you know need to be perfect looking like the suit and your work dresses and spray the de wrinkle spray on the ASAP.

  • Tips for US TSA: I like to have my liquids in the baggie in my backpack so that it's a quick removal and I'm not rifling through my luggage to pull them out. I also wear tight fitting clothes like yoga pants and a form fitting long sleeve shirt because the TSA agents can pretty much just look at you and know that there's nothing on you and I found they don't get all up in your business as much. Also, if you're wearing a sweater/jacket/scarf make sure those come off and go in the bin. I make sure that unless I absolutely have to wear something else that the shoes I wear are really easy to remove like flats. Remember to remove your laptop from the sleeve and have it go into its own bin! It's not enough to just take the laptop bag out. You gotta take that bad boy out of the sleeve so it's visible and in its own bin.

  • Extras: Invest in a really really good travel pillow immediately. Seriously. The ones they give you on the plane are shit. And remember what I just said about blanket scarf? Yea...the blankets they give you on the plane suck too. My favorite travel pillow is the TravelRest. It's stupid looking but very compact (it's inflatable) and comfortable AF. Also, don't waste space on over the head earphones unless you are a major audiophile. A good pair of tiny apple buds are more than enough for your music/movie needs.

If you are flying nonstop, I see no issue in checking your carry on bag if you are inclined but just make sure to factor in like 30+ min for pickup because it can take some time to get your luggage depending on what airport you're at and the size of your flight. If I know I need to be somewhere ASAP, I just stow everything in the overhead bin.

I think that's everything but who knows...I'm probably missing something lol. And obviously this is just what I would do. You don't have to listen to this at all. lolol

OK, this post is going to look like a series of ads but I promise that neither me nor anyone I know works for these companies; these are just products I love and wouldn't fly without.

Carry-on items: generally you're allowed one carry-on bag and one "personal item" (generally a non-luggage bag) so I always travel with a laptop backpack as my main carry-on and a big, soft, zippered tote as my personal item. I used to have this travel bag with a zillion pockets but it got to be such a pain trying to remember which pocket had which item it got stupid. Now with a big tote, I can just drag it out from under the seat, open it wide, and pull out one of the...

Packing cubes: Godsend. I buy them from ebags in various sizes, using the big ones for clothing in the pack, and the little ones in my tote. I use different colored ones in the tote for different things. Green for snacks, red for electronics, and blue for comfort items. Since all the small, easily jumbled items are in smaller bags, they're less likely to get lost in the bottom of my big bag. I try to keep my electronics cube better organized by using...

Gear ties: these are like durable, reusable twist ties for things like cords, cables, handfuls of hair elastics, anything you want to keep bundled up and untangled. When I want to use something like my earbuds or a charging cable, I just twist the tie around my tote handle so it won't get lost. Some of the items also in my electronics cube are:

Plug adapter (international travel, I have one for every country I'm hitting, even if it's just an airport stop - one 14-hour stranding in the Hong Kong airport overnight taught me that lesson.)

Compact multi-outlet power strip which can make you new best friends in airports and make the stupidly-configured power outlets in hotel rooms actually workable.

Four-port USB charger: one of these means I only need one outlet to charge my phone, tablet, e-book, and my...

Portable power bank: nothing sucks more than a long flight when all your electronic entertainment doodads have run out of juice. My power bank can charge my phone fully 3+ times and is about the same size as the phone itself.

Onto the comfort items! Some of them go into a packing cube in my tote, others are larger so they're separate.

Disinfecting wipes: I like these because they're individually wrapped and good for both hands and surfaces. First thing I do when I get onto a germ-factory airplane is wipe down my armrests and tray table. Also great for public restrooms when you find out there's no soap.

Filtering water bottle: in many cities around the world, airport bottled water is crazy expensive, and water bottle filling station water is, in a word, nasty. I can attach this bottle to my tote with a carabiner and the filter makes most municipal water taste at least halfway decent.

Travel pillow: personal preference but this one is my favorite. My husband prefers a memory foam donut one but I find it heavy and bulky and not supportive in the right way. The Travelrest rolls up to a compact shape and inflates in seconds.

Soft, layered clothing: I wear yoga pants, a sports bra, a t-shirt, a light drape cardigan and slip-on shoes. The only thing remotely binding I wear is...

Light compression socks: actually my pair is just a regular pair of knee socks in the Nordstrom house brand that I keep snug by only wearing them for flights and handwashing them so they don't lose their elasticity. No matter how often I get up and move around during a long flight I'll get puffy ankles if I don't wear snug socks. Over those, once I'm in my seat I put on...

Fuzzy slipper socks. My feet freeze on planes but I don't like wearing my shoes for that long. Even though I don't think my shoes smell, if I get the stinkeye from a neighbor, I put my shoes into a plastic bag, otherwise I can usually get them off and hide them under the seat in front of me before my seat mates arrive to my row. Because I get so cold on flights I also wear/carry a...

Pashmina or other large scarf: works as a fashion accessory, blanket, pillow, and a don't-talk-to-me barrier when worn like a hood. Also covers up that spot where you spilled your coffee on yourself because you had to be at the airport at 5:30 a.m.

Sleeping mask: slap one of these on, engage your (preferably noise-canceling) headphones, lean into your travel pillow, cuddle up under your scarf and try to forget you're rocketing 35K feet over the planet in a big metal tube.

Single-use toothbrushes: I love those little Wisp toothbrush things - I usually keep them in my handbag or work desk for those oh-shit-here-comes-the-CEO-and-I-just-had-a-grande-latte moments, but they're also great for a little freshening up on a plane or in an airport without needing to get out your actual toiletries.

Moisturizers: because plane air is so drying this includes travel-sized lotion, face moisturizer, and lip balm. So much lip balm. I like Aquaphor myself.

Snacks: be nice to your fellow travelers and keep your snacks non-smelly, quiet especially if it's an overnight flight, and not too messy. I like to bring things like clementines, Babybel cheese, trail mix, chocolate covered nuts, or granola bars. Gum is good for takeoffs and landings. If you're prone to motion sickness, candied ginger is great.

Have a comfortable flight!

For some reason this didn't show up the first time I posted, so sorry if it shows up twice :-)

1

2 (Snow is kind of reminiscent of rain)

3 (food related because I would serve hot meals on it; unusual because it is multifunctional)

4 is for my two year old daughter because she has the normal version, but loves it so much (probably her favorite thing) that it is now in three pieces with the cover off and losing pages every day, but this one has a carry handle and is smaller for toddlers and easier to carry around.

5 You need to read it because I've been told I need to read it.

6

7 because Catwoman

8 The picture of beauty! :-)

9 Because it's a classic. . . it's sweet, has adventure, and teamwork. . . dinosaurs.

10 because it's a sword that I will always have with me because it's a keychain

11 I'm on my 4th week of P90x, and I hate yoga day because I can't do all the moves, so I don't have the desire to do it, but this would help on moves where I am not as flexible.

12 I want these so I can make necklaces with them.

13 Because it has a swingset and a playhouse and my daughter (and when he's older, my son too) would love this, and I love them very much. So seeing them happy makes me happy :-).

14

15 seeds are much smaller than golfballs

16 Nothing smells as good as a freshly bathed baby :-)

17

18 I could practice my letters and spelling (as long as each letter was only used once) :-)

19 My current obsession is being a mom! All of my other obsessions are geeky stuff, so this is perfect!

20 I know this really needs no explanation as to why it is so grand and awe-inspiring, but here are 10 good reasons. . . First of all, it's huge because it's a rug. Second of all, it is from one of the greatest movies of all time, Star Wars Episode V. Third, it looks sooooo soft (it's so fluffy, I'm going to die). Fourth, how many people do you know who have this in their home? Fifth, it has claws. Sixth, it's smiling. Seventh, you could hide under it during a home invasion. Eighth, you could cover up with it if your power went out in a snowstorm. Ninth, (since you love cats) I bet cats love laying on a wampa rug. Finally tenth, it would be the perfect addition to this boy's nursery (I've shown this picture a lot on RAoA, but I can't help it. He's too cute!)

Bonus Item 1 will be PMd to you when I found out your real name, not if but when :-)

Bonus Item 2 Looks yummy!

fear cuts deeper than swords

This was super fun by the way! Thanks!

Not knowing you or your gf or your price range, it will be kind of difficult to make perfect suggestions, but I'll give you a few that I have gotten mine, or she has gotten me that worked out to be really good:

Serious stuff:

Kindle - You say she is a genius, so maybe she likes to spend free time reading. I never thought I'd use a Kindle until I got one, and now I use it daily. It's portable, easy on the eyes, and gives her the chance to read anything she wants.

A Puzzle - I've always enjoyed doing puzzles in my free time but as I grew older I lost time to do them. My girlfriend got me one last Christmas, and we have been doing them together ever since. They are great when one of you want to watch a movie or TV that the other may not be as interested in. The other person can relax and do a puzzle, but you are still spending time together. We normally pick one out together that we really like, then glue it together when we finish it. Our plan is to eventually frame them and put them up in our office.

Less serious:

Body Pillow - I've had friends give this to their SO's and the reaction is always hilarious. For the girlfriend who "has to have you there" to sleep comfortably.

I'll leave it to those for now. I'm not much of a cook, outdoorsy person, or crafty so my suggestions for those would be lacking. Good luck, but just remember no matter what you get her, she'll love it. Just...make sure you actually get her something. It's not just the thought that counts.

I just got a queen Zinus "Green Tea" memory foam bed. Currently $289 shipped on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Q7EPSHI/

It is pretty firm. I actually ordered a 3" gel topper because of the firmness (you sleep on top rather than sinking into it), but that proved to be too squishy (the topper leaves an imprint of your body when you roll). I have a 2" topper on another bed & imo that is the right level of squish vs. firmness: (the bed is firm to the point where my side wasn't sinking in & was kind of being compressed instead, like when you lay on thin carpet when watching TV or something)

https://www.amazon.com/Sleep-Master-Memory-Topper-Queen/dp/B00FJNQBJ2/

Also, I picked up their awesome 18" tall frame:

https://www.amazon.com/Zinus-SmartBase-Foundation-Replacement-Noise-Free/dp/B017YETH8K/

TONS of storage space underneath, easy to setup (2 pieces that screw together & fold in half, lightweight & only requires one person to assemble...literally takes more time to unbox it than put it together), no noise in use, plus with the 12" Zinus bed, it's at a good height to walk up to & fall into bed. You will need a grip sheet underneath, otherwise the bed will slide off pretty easily:

https://www.amazon.com/TRU-Lite-Bedding-Slip-Mattress/dp/B01AS3HADS

I also recommend getting a waterproof sheet (goes underneath the regular sheets), as any spills will sink directly into the foam mattress & never, ever come out:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A2G9VFM/

I got these Mellanni sheets - they are thin, but feel nice:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NLNDU00

Slightly better than the Amazon Basics sheets I have on another bed. I have a plastic bin underneath the bed for storing a spare set of sheets & waterproof sheet (both are washer/dryer-safe). Total comes up to under $600 shipped for a 12" memory foam bed, 2" gel topper, 18" metal bed frame, a non-skid pad for the frame, two sets of sheets, and two waterproof mattress sheets. I was going to get a Casper or Leesa, but those were like $800 just for the bed...I got all that for $200 less, still a pretty hefty investment, but a decent deal. Other than that, you just need some pillows & a duvet or blanket on the top.

The mattress comes vacuum-sealed in a box, so you just undo it from the packaging & let it air out for a day or two to fully decompress. The frame comes in a large but thin box (two frames folded in half with some assembly hardware). I didn't have to mooch a truck off a friend or go to a mattress store or anything...ordered it all off Amazon Prime, showed up in a couple days, put it all together by myself in minutes. Easy peasy. Would definitely order another one!

I'm an American with family in Australia who has done this flight...far too many times. I have a flight routine for both skincare and general comfort that has made my life better (as good as it can be IMO without shelling out for business class):

-Tradeoff between aisle seat/good bathroom access and being able to lean against the plane wall/look out the window. Avoid middle seat at all cost! I don't mind waking people up so I usually go for the window.

-skin: take your makeup off and moisturize before the flight. No one is paying attention! On the flight, get up after dinner and do a night time routine with some sort of thick moisturizer at the end - I used Clinique moisture surge overnight mask last time and it worked pretty well. Do a morning routine before breakfast (and brush yr teeth. This makes you feel far less gross.).

-Bring lysol wipes and wipe your arm rests and tray table down when you sit down. You will look like a crazy person, but again: no one cares and you want to avoid getting sick.

-If you request a special meal they'll serve you first and honestly I think a lot of times the food is better? I usually get a vegan meal or the Indian meal.

-Bring something you like to help you sleep. Melatonin or dramamine or whatever. Take it after dinner. Have like one drink with dinner (tbh the wine on Qantas/Air New Zealand is usually decent!) and then start watching a movie and drift off midway through it.

-A nice neck pillow (I have this one: https://www.amazon.com/Cabeau-Evolution-Memory-Travel-Pillow/dp/B004ZIDXK2/) and noise canceling headphones (I have bose quietcomforts and they made my life so much better.) are nice but not necessary.

I don't know where your family is, but I've never really had a big problem with the weather & my skin where my family is. It'll probably be warm, but just treat it like you would an american summer and wear more sunscreen than you think you need to, because the sun just seems stronger there.

Anything imported is going to be really pricey, but Australian brands usually end up being a bit cheaper once you take the exchange into account. I stocked up on Lanolips last time I was there. Natio's a nice drugstore brand. Anything American is probably cheaper here than there, so I'm sure your family would appreciate whatever you bring!! I know you can't get strong acids there, so if you know someone who would appreciate babyfacial or the ordinary peel or something, that's probably a good choice.

Okay, I'm going to try and keep it manageable.

If you live in an apartment, you need to tell the super if only because you risk them going into other places and reinfesting.

There are kits you can buy, though just be sure anything you buy also has a sprayer of some kind if it's mixed

If a kit doesn't have encasements you should order those on amazon.

That said, here are some steps:

Wash and machine dry everything you own, and put them in these or these. Don't be stingy on this, buy 2-3 of them. Make outfits for work and home and organize them bag by bag. Lets call this 25 dollars.

Do this with your linens, pillow cases, and pillows. If your bedsheets are not light colored and plain, then buy some light colored plain ones. White is good, a little off white is best as nymphs can appear white if they haven't eaten, eggs too. Wash your linens every 4 days or so.

Buy mattress encasements for your bed AND your box spring. Measure both to make sure you don't buy one that's too big, the snugger the fit the better. Do not go too cheap on this, look at the reviews. A good one will have not only a zipper but a folding flap to secure it. Lets call this 60 bucks. Once on, never remove the encasement without a PCO telling you to. Do not try to make your own, it never works out well. Important note, do NOT under any circumstance have any kind of bed skirt or blanket that's so large it touches the floor easily. You're going to want to make it so the bugs have to crawl up the legs so they die on the cimexa.

If you do not have an iron/steel bed frame, I recommend getting the cheapest one you can find.

Clean everything off the floor, make sure no furniture is touching any other furniture or the wall. If you can't do that, you need to lose some stuff. Believe me it's worth it.

Vacuum daily if you can, and immediately toss out whatever you vacuum up in whatever trash is outside. Do not keep it inside. I wouldn't recommend vacuuming less than every other day. Vacuum early in the morning if at all possible.

Buy interceptors. These babies are pricey unfortunately. but a 12 pack should be good for a bed and something else. That's about 40. Make sure whatever bed post you have will fit in them, they're not the widest.

Buy two cans of bedlam plus. Spray it along each joint and crevice in all the furniture after you've emptied it out. Do not use over the counter sprays, they're almost always things bed bugs are already resistant to.

Buy two bottles of Cimexa and a bellows. Apply the cimexa on the perimeter of every piece of furniture that is on the floor as well as along the wall of the room. Unscrew every outlet and switch cover and put it there as well. Don't go overboard, less is more. This will be about 40 total for the set. I recommend spraying the legs of your chairs. Make sure to cover your face while you're doing this. Cimexa will kill them if they crawl over it, however if it's clumped up in big piles they'll walk around it because they don't like it.

Do NOT switch where you sleep. They'll follow you and spread to other parts of where you live. You're live bait. It sucks, but having them come to where you're sleeping is the best way to kill them. You want them feeling safe and secure as they walk over the poisons and cimexa you've laid out.

You'll be living out of bags for a long long time, so get used to it. I recommend scheduling something you enjoy every week to keep your sanity and have something to look forward to.

Whatever you do, do NOT buy a bed bug bomb. It will scatter them and make them harder to clear.

Nothing goes on the bed unless it's sterile, and nothing leaves the bed without being washed and dried ASAP.

Get a good quality neck cushion. I have a memory foam one that connects at the front gently so you don’t do the head bobbing thing. Even An inflatable one that holds you steady will really help.

Second get that massage and take your icy hot patches through security in your carry on and put them on once you get through.

Third request wheelchair service at the airport. You may think you can walk fine but what people forget about is the standing in line and lifting/lugging bags. I’m early 30s and hate to use it but it’s a game changer for your comfort.

Fourth if you can find one or have time to order from amazon, consider an inflatable square that goes under your feet if you have lower back pain. It flattens to nothing and takes a few breaths to inflate. There are varying sizes and it’s been a huge benefit for me when flying. If you’re really tall or not worried about lower back pain, skip this one.

Here’s the neck pillow I love.
Here’s the blow up footstool I love.
Here’s an alternate footstool I tried and liked.
Here’s a full body cushion I tried but wasn’t right for me. Could help you though because we have different pain.

Ps I don’t get anything from this from amazon. These are actual products I bought and tried. Some I love. Some didn’t work for me.

Good luck!

Thanks!

I prolly don't have more of a thing than you. I mostly typed that out jokingly. Still love the meme, the porn is great ;)

I'd readily buy it if it weren't tainted by bootlegging. Seeing her listed on many storefronts across several sites among numerous bootlegs from Cuddly Octopus and others keeps me from giving to those numerous faces belonging to a single mass of bootleggery.

I can't say I really care much about what bootlegging does to other's business, more that I like throwing my money at people who care about their craft. Bootlegging is lifeless work. Much of dakimakura is art by fans who draw by their styles that change and improve. Doesn't always appeal to me but when it does, gotta buy till the wallet's dry! Most Chinese sellers like these churn out daki based on what's hype in the moment. To me, the art looks stale, selling by broad appeal.

Anyways, that's me and you do you, of course. I still love that Bowsette daki, the pierced tits especially.

If you don't already have a decent daki inner, I recommend COMODO just because they're conveniently on Amazon while the DHR and others are incredibly marked up. There's the 160cm CMD9000 and CMD9900LS and the 150cm CMD9150 and CMD9950MS. Great entry for higher class Japanese inners, much better than standard maternity pillows and generic Chinese inners. Prices fluctuate of course, with my CMD9900LS at 80 USD and I've seen it gone lower.

You could get her a boyfriend pillow for when you aren't there to cuddle her to sleep! (hehe)

If you can afford a little more then your budget, a hot air balloon ride would be pretty magical.

Okay, okay, a more realistic gift: A Kobo would be nice. It'll give her a chance to read more when she is commuting to school (should she take public transit) or between classes, without having to haul around more clunky books.

You could also check the local theatre listings and see if there are any musicals or plays coming in that she might enjoy seeing. She sounds like she's got a pretty full plate with school, so she might really appreciate a special night out with you full of things to get her mind off of school.

So first off, I have several questions. I'm very new to this so I have no idea where to start. There's really only two covers I want to get: Saber Alter and Rin Tohsaka from Fate. I would love to find a nice Mordred cover, but I haven't found any that I like. I also know that that's how this starts and will likely buy more in the future. "I only want this or that and won't buy another". Damn myself for being such a materialist!

Anyways, I really like this one simply because it lines up with UFOtables look for Saber, (https://peroperopiroo.moe/shop/saber_alter_dogfucker.html) though I don't know which option to pick for the material. Is Chinese 2wt good to go with or should I upgrade? I will def. be going for the "family friendly" version.

As for the Rin Tohsaka one, (original: https://eveningcall.net/InformationDetail.aspx?NewsId=437 updated version: https://eveningcall.net/InformationDetail.aspx?NewsId=347) I've had my eye on one of these by Evening Call. They seem to be quite rare sadly, which is a shame as this artist is the only one I've seen do a Tohsaka design that I really like. All the others make her look way too young or don't get the style just right for my tastes. So any suggestions on finding this one would be greatly appreciated. I've been recommended some sites by a user already, but I figured I'd post here anyway. Thanks BTW, I'll keep an eye on those sites you suggested! u/DakimakuraGuy

For the inner pillow, should I just go with my gut and get one from Dakimakuri or should I go with this? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DFJWW86/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=A1WC95IIGIP2OA&psc=1 The reviews make me not want to buy it, but I saw that one user posted a fix to the slipping covers by placing an extra cover underneath the main one. I'm thinking the Dakimakuri, though there's no reviews for their inner pillows yet...

  1. Zone heating. Heat the room you are in with a space heater, keep the central air turned much lower. Keep doors shut and use blankets hung in the entryways to trap heat in the rooms you are using.

  2. If you don't have a programmable thermostat, get one. They are inexpensive and easy to install. Program it to turn things down when you are away and up when you are home.

  3. Open all the window blinds/shades and let as much sunlight in during the day as you can, then close up at night. If you have old or drafty windows, put up plastic or tack up a blanket or use heavy drapes to add a little insulation.

  4. I HIGHLY recommend getting an electric blanket or mattress pad and a nice comforter. Program or turn down your thermostat to drop several degrees (I go to 58 or 60) at bedtime, because there's no need to heat the whole house when you know exactly where you will be for the next 8 hours - asleep in your amazing cocoon of warmth. They aren't cheap, but a good one will last you a long time and save you a bundle.

Though slightly more expensive, I actually recommend a heated mattress pad versus a blanket, because the heat will rise through and warm your sheets but get trapped by your comforter - keeping the heat next to you. I have the queen size version of this one and it is amazing. It helped me survive winter at school when we had the thermostat at 58 almost all the time. It makes enough heat that just sitting in bed was really comfy, so I would end up doing all of my homework in bed.

Note: If you've got a programmable thermostat, make sure you turn on the heat about 15 minutes before you wake up to make getting out of bed easier.

Xtreme Comforts Shredded Memory Foam Pillow

I used to always sleep with two regular pillows, but just one of these has been perfect every night. Stays pretty cool and is extremely comfortable. Its softer than straight memory foam but still has a lot of support.

I found it on Wirecutter so see their review for more in depth: https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-bed-pillows/

u/vroomvroom404 · 1 pointr/BabyBumps

It depends on what kind of sleeper you are. I'm generally a back sleeper - occasionally on my stomach if I'm tossing and turning, but I usually wake up on my back like a log.
I ended up buying [this one] (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K6K4SOS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) from amazon for back sleepers. It wedges me in really well. I often find that I have almost flipped to my back in the night, but even so i'm at like a 45 + degree angle to my side so I feel like it's ok, since I just fall onto the back part. I'm not far enough along that it's a huge issue yet - only 17+4 right now.

Edited to add: We have a king size bed and it fully takes up half of it (and I fit right in the middle). Hubby was a little pissed at first but then I gave him my normal pillow to use as a snuggle pillow so he's happy. Also our pup is very happy because he likes to sleep wedged between his snuggle pillow and my body pillow - he is a mini aussie and used to fall asleep with us on the bed but leave in the night because he'd get hot. Now he thinks he's snuggling us up but he doesn't get hot anymore! .... anyway moral of this paragraph is I don't recommend this one if you're in a queen size bed or smaller unless you have a partner who is totally fine with having less than half of the bed.

u/JarJarB · 1 pointr/BuyItForLife

I use this pillow and it stays very cool. It can be a little weird to use at first since you have to shape it how you want but once you get it right it stays that way and it’s very comfortable. I like having different types of pillows so I got the thin and the normal ones. Thin are better if you like to sleep on your back or front, normal are pretty thick but good for side sleeping and propping yourself up to watch a movie or something.

u/d3driver · 23 pointsr/sex

Whilst this may not help, your fiancé is a lucky man, as he has a lady who is able to SHOW him how much she enjoys herself with him. I envy him.

As to the actual question asked, you may with to consider a specialist waterproof sex blanket such as the Liberator https://www.amazon.com/Liberator-Fascinator-Throe-Moisture-Resistant-Blanket/dp/B00EOXYQPE

This will let you enjoy your delightful ability without the worry of cleanup apart from just throwing the blanket into the wash.

You’d also likely benefit from water borne sex too, such as in the shower or bath, where your ejaculate can disperse easily.

Hope this is of some help, and please don’t be put off on any way

Konbanwa na no ja!

This is the dakimakura cover that Good Smile Company sold at their booth at Comiket 96. That was an "early sale" for people who could attend the event, but they are now taking preorders for their general release, which will be in November.

For those men of culture out there interested in cuddling with Senko-san, here in her nighttime yukata, you will need to have a Japanese purchasing agent order it for you, since they will not ship it directly to you outside of Japan. A user friendly option is White Rabbit Express.

As for a matching size pillow, this one would fit the bill.

Preorders will be open until September 18th! Good luck!

Mattress protector/encasement: Hypoallergenic bag to seal bed bugs, dust mites, and spills in/out of mattress. https://www.amazon.com/Encasement-Waterproof-Hypoallergenic-Breathable-Protector/dp/B00Z06F2OI/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=Mattress+protector&qid=1562627220&s=gateway&sr=8-4

Mattress topper: Egg crate or gel foam that is placed on top of the mattress for extra comfort. https://www.amazon.com/Memory-Foam-Topper-Mattress-Sleep/dp/B01GICXDN4/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=Mattress+topper+twin+xl&qid=1562627405&s=gateway&sr=8-6

Mattress pad: Lightly padded/quilted but otherwise similar to a fitted sheet, placed below sheets to protect mattress & hold everything together. (Kinda like underwear for your mattress.) https://www.amazon.com/Gilbin-College-Quilted-Mattress-Polyester/dp/B00MGWK06E/ref=sr_1_9?crid=HBFAAZPF1KD5&keywords=mattress+pad+twin+xl&qid=1562627643&s=gateway&sprefix=Mattress+pad+er+twin+xl%2Caps%2C146&sr=8-9

Mattress protectors are a good idea if you have dust mite allergies, or have concerns about the cleanliness of the mattress. Topper is good if you are used to a plush pillow-top type mattress or find the mattress too firm. Mattress pad is really useful if you are using one of the other two things, or to add a little buffer if the mattress material is plastic or rough.

ETA: You can find combo protector/pads, topper/pads, etc. too. So many options.

u/dissonantdame · 3 pointsr/UBC

Hey OP, I just went through this earlier in the year. I was also told never to buy a used mattress, so I scoured the web in search of the cheapest new mattress and bedframe that I could find. I managed to find this mattress + foundation combo for under $400. These are also both online, so you don't have to worry about delivery.

6in queen-size memory foam mattress from Wal-mart - $219

Queen size mattress foundation from Amazon - $134 + $5.54 shipping

I've been sleeping on this combination for the past couple months too, so I can vouch for their quality. I spent a lot of time online figuring this out and this is the best combination I found for myself. Feel free to ask me any questions you might have, I hope these suggestions are useful.

P.S. I also recommend buying a mattress protector (this is the one I bought) so that your new mattress as well as all your future queen-size mattresses will be protected from spills and guaranteed to last as long as possible.

u/mindfullybored · 1 pointr/CerebralPalsy

This won't help you get the sheets changed, but it may help keep them tucked in. For my sister with CP we have the fitted sheet and the top sheet sewn together at the foot. It really helps her keep her top sheet on the bed for longer.

Also, make sure you're buying fitted sheets that are extra deep, even if you don't have a very thick mattress. Those will go on better. And, if possible, try using sheet clips. Like these: https://www.amazon.com/Original-Sheet-Suspenders-fasteners-Adjustable/dp/B00451BG2G

As a note I assume that the $200 price point is in canadian dollars because that is pretty much on point for what I paid for my DHR6000 with current exchange rates from Yen to canadian dollars.

As a counter point to your statement on the insanity of spending that much on a pillow, the price of the cover of said sexualized depiction of an anthropomorphized aircraft carrier would often be in the ranges of $115+ CAD assuming that it was a Japanese cover. Now obviously I don't know what cover you have or what you have paid for it but it appears as though you are wanting to use the pillow to sleep with by electing not to go with a shitty cheap pillow soley for the purposes of display.

With this in mind you would be using the pillow for on average 8 hours a day every day. Investing in a good quality item that you are going to use a lot only seems like common sense to me. I can say that I consider my purchase of a DHR6000 to be well worth it as I have gotten much more value out of the pillow than what I paid for it.

One potential option you could look into was this listing for a CMD9000 on Amazon. I don't know if they offer shipping to Canada (they don't offer shipping to my country but I'm not in north america) but this listing has caught the eye of a number of users here recently as if this is a legitimate CMD9000 then it is probobly the cheapest quality pillow you can find on the western market right now. I will add this disclaimer that I personally don't like purchasing from Amazon resellers simply due to the potential that I am not provided with a genuine product and prefer to purchasing directly from Japan. However, you may find this to be the best method of aquiring yourself a pillow and if that suits you then go for it.

It's just me in my house and I'm so gdamn tired of dealing with things on a DYI scale, plus I've got a good working relationship with my exterminator now since he's been to my house for various other reasons now. It says something that he thinks my house is clean enough to order cupcakes from me so I'll take it lol.

That's great that you've been free and clear! You didn't mention bagging your mattress - I got this one after everything was treated in case you haven't/need a recommendation. Fingers crossed for both of us that we don't have any recurrences!

I asked about this on this subreddit and was recommended this travel neck pillow: http://amzn.com/B004ZIDXK2

The recommendation was detailed enough to convince me so I sprung for it without trying it out.

Well, I recently took a trip to Hawaii (8-10 hour flight) and really liked the pillow. So now, I'm recommending it to you. You can wear it forwards (opening in front) or backwards (opening in back).

  1. The sides are very high so it supports your head as you droop to the sides. Also, if you wear it with the opening in the back, you can nod off forwards and it will support your chin nicely because even though the sides are high, there is a dip in the middle of the U shape for your chin. The foam is comfortable and firm-yet-squishy without having a weird smell. The outer cover zips off for washing.

  2. The only modification I'm planning on doing is removing the little string closer and replacing it with a fat strip of thick Velcro. I think that will be more secure. The string closure thingy is the only weakness in the product.

  3. The little pocket is pretty much useless. My iPhone 4S definitely didn't stay in there.

Difference in DHR6001 vs DHR4001? From one of the older questions it seemed the 4000 series has a little less filling but is more guaranteed to satisfy.
I personally would like more filling, but from the reviews off of Amazon.jp:

vs

http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E6%8A%B1%E3%81%8D%E6%9E%95%E6%9C%AC%E4%BD%93-J%E3%82%AA%E3%83%AA%E3%82%B8%E3%83%8A%E3%83%AB-DHR6001-%E3%83%8F%E3%82%A4%E3%82%AF%E3%83%A9%E3%82%B9-150cm%C3%9750cm/dp/B00PIM8OTO

It seemed the 6001 is perceived more negatively, while the 4001 got all favorable reviews. What's the big deal? Should I just order the 4001 to be safe?

I really liked the putting a potty chair in his room idea. It’s good to have the option. Sometimes if they’re sleeping they can’t feel it coming and there’s no waking them up. Limit fluid intake before bed, go potty as part of his bedtime routine and be patient, they will grow out of it eventually. In the meantime use pull-ups and keep a protective/plastic sheet on his bed. That way you can easily take it off and wash it and he and his mattress won’t smell like urine.

I have a DHR 6000, but I don't have any other Japanese pillows to compare it too. I would still recommend it to someone in your case. Its still amazingly soft, but with enough firmness to return to its normal shape after you lay with it. Its also thick, and the outer texture manages to secure covers in place quite well.

That being said, a more affordable option might be https://www.amazon.com/COMODO-Original-CMD9000-Dakimakura-Maternity/dp/B07DHSPXTZ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1540533086&sr=8-1&keywords=cmd9000. Does anti-motion sickness medicine (like Dramamine) work for you? If so, I recommend getting that for the flight. I also have prescription Ambien that I bring to help me sleep.

I bought this inflatable pillow a few years ago and it helps me sleep better than those neck pillows. And since it’s inflatable, it’s easy to pack.

I also recommend wearing shoes you can easily take on and off as well as comfy socks.

I use cotton bedding as well. I'd suggest picking whichever type of weave feels most comfortable to you (percale, sateen, etc). I'm currently using Threshold percale sheet sets from Target and Tommy Hilfiger sheet sets from Macy's and love them.

Dust mite allergy is a big thing for many eczema sufferers (including myself), and my allergist recommended using dust mite covers for the mattress and pillow to limit exposure. I just bought this one on Amazon last week.

As for doing laundry, it's a good idea to wash bedding using hot water weekly for cleanliness as well as to kill dust mites and bacteria etc. Fragrance can be a huge trigger for eczema, so I've been using All Free & Clear detergent and using white vinegar in a Downy ball for the wash. I also use dryer balls in the dryer instead of fabric softener (no fragrance and chemicals!).

I agree about lack of lumbar support hurting your lower back. I fixed that by buying one of those memory foam lumbar pillows on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D5J7SL2/). No more back pain for me even after several hours.

Now the wheel being too high and pedals too close can be fixed too if you're OK with more upright seating position. My real life daily driver is an SUV, so I'm used to that, but I understand that it could be awkward for other people. So what I did is I raised the seat by 1.5" using two 8020 15-series profile pieces that I put between the frame and the seat rails. I also used them for attaching keyboard tray and shifter mounts as it gives much more adjustability than the stock 6cm spaced holes and I coul finally mount both the shifter and the tray on the right side to have an unobstructed entry from the left side. Here're some pictures of my setup, hope that helps: https://imgur.com/a/52onJ

And I don't understand the complain about the shifter being too close. If you mount it using the same holes that are used for the front cross bar it will be anything but too close. When I added that 8020 I even even moved the shifter a bit closer to me. I'm 6'1" (185cm) and have rather long arms and legs and after all these upgrades the rig is pretty comfortable to me to sit the whole day in it.

I bought this and it's really helpful for getting comfortable. Hubby and I have a queen bed and both fit just fine even with the giant pillow. It's not hard to get out of the bed either, I just flip the leg of the pillow up to hop out rather than climb over it.

I still end up waking up on my back about half the time (something I have always done and I have no conscious knowledge of turning over in the night), but it definitely helps me at least fall asleep on my side. I'm usually a stomach sleeper and had a horrible time trying to sleep before getting my pillow!

Edited to add: It looks like that particular pillow is out of stock on Amazon right now, but there are similar ones from other companies, and I'm sure other places probably carry it.

I bought this one about a year ago:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00V909F1K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_wji.zbY80TAGC

It is really nice. Came recommended by Wirecutter. The filing is shredded memory foam. It is pretty firm though. Which I like and gives good support, but if you are used to really soft pillows it might seem weird.

It does tend to get compressed though, so you need to fluff it fairly often.

One great thing about it is that the whole pillow is machine washable.

u/eva1588 · 1 pointr/Posture

Does having your feet up high make it easier for you to sit because you are then leaning a bit more forward, taking pressure off the low back? You could do this by using a stool under your feet, but that might actually end up causing tension in your shoulders, neck and upper back. Because those parts are pushed forward, they are no longer supported by the spine, which will eventually cause pain.. I am thinking the best way to ease the lower back and also support the entire back, (middle and upper) would be to place a cushion behind the low back, or get a chair that is specifically designed for lumbar support. Below is a link to a chair cushion. Might be worth checking out.

This is the one that I've been using for 3 years: LinenSpa 100% Waterproof Mattress Protector

Our female cat likes to pee on our bed whenever something bothers her, and this has been an utter lifesaver. We went from pulling our hair out every time it happened (wtf do you do with a pee-soaked mattress twice a day because your male kitten grew into a big bully who terrorizes the female ?) to just being able to rip this sheet off and throwing it in the washing machine. We also like to put another fitted sheet on top of it for comfort. This thing is seriously amazing - 3 years of continuous use, and not even a hint of pee smell gets through (and I have a sharptastic nose).

I could be a salesmen for these waterproof sheets. So awesome :D

I am a first time buyer and just pre-ordered Maidoll's Reika cover https://maidoll.booth.pm/items/1215934

I have been doing some research on an inner pillow and came up with three options:

  1. COMODO CMD9900LS: https://www.amazon.com/COMODO-Original-CMD9900LS-High-End-Dakimakura/dp/B07DFJWW86/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1550005417&sr=8-1&keywords=CMD9900LS
  2. dakimakuri pre-order https://dakimakuri.com/shop/item/inner
  3. DHR6000 (anyone know if this is legit?) https://www.amazon.com/Dakimakura-body-pillow-original-DHR6000/dp/B00CFG0B3I/ref=sr_1_6?s=bedbath&ie=UTF8&qid=1550007371&sr=1-6&keywords=dakimakura

Does anyone have any recommendations among the 3? Especially as something starting off, the DHR6000 at $170 feels pretty steep. I was thinking of starting off with a mid-range pillow and upgrading eventually if I felt like it. Any comments is greatly appreciated!
u/HarambeTaughtMe · 1 pointr/carcamping

I haven’t tested it out besides when I was making sure it fit in my car, but I just bought this foam topper .

Not only does it fit my Honda HRV like a charm, but it also can fold up and be stored in a compact manner. Smells weird but that can be fixed with febreeze.

u/ChadwickGates · 4 pointsr/BuyItForLife

I recently got this one. The marketing for it says it's good for side and stomach sleepers. I've only had it for a week but it's been fantastic. As an added bonus, it seems to have helped with my mild sleep apnea, too. I have no hard evidence for this, it's only anecdotal, but I seem to be sleeping a lot more soundly and breathing better at night. I have no idea how long the pillow will last so I don't think I can say it's BIFL right now. We'll see how it holds up.

u/Skallox · 1 pointr/Dakimakuras

Thanks. I'll make a habit of checking it regular with the sites linked in your ancient post, that seems to be the best way to avoid the terror of missing out.

As a side note, where is the best place to find the 1600mmx500mm pillows? I understand that royalpillow will do them in the states but the options I'm finding that are readily available are:

  1. Buy this 60"x20" pillow and deal with it being a bit too short for 1600x500 pillows and perfect for 1500x500 pillow.

  2. Buy this silly round style of pillow and deal with it being too long for 1500x500, just right for 1600x500 but now everything is cylindrical.
  3. Buy a pillow directly from a retailer like amiami and potentially get gorrila-ass-pounded on shipping costs. Not to mention how quickly this style of generic pillow breaks down.

  4. Buy an air filled pillow and potential puncture and deflate your waifu.

Is there a good/better/best option that I am overlooking?

EDIT: These appear to be the regular suspects here but they're pretty damn expensive. Do you really get what you pay for? DHR6000 and DHR5000.
u/MarrCharr · 1 pointr/Dakimakuras

Hey guys new to dakimakuras and recieved mine a few months ago from the Grisia VN Western Release and I have a question or two if you will humor me! :)

  1. I have purchased the http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B00FPEE2WS pillow and I have to say I really like it. I have my Michiru on and have been enjoying the better sleep I have gained from using pillow. The problem is I have heavy night sweats and the pillow has become lumpy and nasty(not to bad but enough where it bothers me). I would say that it is due to the material inside the pillow but I could be wrong. Could someone direct me to another high quality pillow that could serve as either a replacement or companion(Sakaki) that has better materials on the inside? I used to sleep with normal size pillows between my legs at times and no "lumpage" would occur, so my knowledge of all daki pillows fabric and its materials are quite foreign to me.

If possible, can I wash that pillow and perhaps make the lumps go away??

Thanks for any and all help in advance!!

Regarding the room space, there are ways to play where you don't have to move around much, but moving does add to the immersion and fun.

What I did to add space to my room is replace the bed with a foldable floor bed like this: https://www.amazon.com/Olee-Sleep-OLR04TM02S-Tri-Folding-Memory/dp/B0742B6F1H/ref=sr_1_5?crid=1OQYSCQ9BQJKX

The snoogle is just ok (but I realize I'm in the minority camp on this). Kinda pricey for the quality of pillow and really hurts my neck. I switch between a 3-pillow stack up to sleep on my back partially sitting up, and sleeping on my side with a pillow between my knees and sometimes the snoogle at the end of the bed for knee/back/hip support. I. CAN'T. GET. COMFORTABLE. Here are my other pillows: 1. Is the favorite pillow from the Sweethome:

If your house is anything like mine, I'd guess it will be in the upper 40s in the morning.

Get yourself a heated mattress pad. Easily one of the best purchases I've made in a long time. I think I read somewhere that it only costs like 2 cents/night to run and there's nothing better than jumping into a toasty warm bed at night. I had waited so long to buy it because I had experience with other mattress pads where you could feel the wires, but this one is nothing like that. Super soft. And it lets us set the thermostat super low at night no problem. Beats the old space heater hands down.

Good luck with the pipes.

u/joanty · 1 pointr/lifehacks

Either buy garters on Amazon (been using something like these for 10 years) or if you're handy with a thread and needle, sew an elastic band across the corners of your fitted sheets.

The only way to keep the middle of the sheet from wrinkling is having it fit perfectly and not move while you toss and turn.

I've got a 2016.5 CX-5 Touring, just went and measured. From back hatch to end of center console is 67". With passenger seat pushed all the way forward, you can get to about 77". I've laid down diagonal (I'm 5'10', medium build) and it's doable, though not very comfortable. Better would probably be one of those tri-fold mattresses (link below), which fits perfectly if you move passenger seat full forward and lay down 60% of the back seat. I've laid the mattress in (it's 75" x 25" unfolded) and it fits great, feels comfy, but I haven't yet slept on it that way :)

If your boyfriend sweats a lot, has he tried showering right before bed? He'll still sweat overnight, but it won't smell nearly as much if at all.

If your mattress already smells, this might be too late, but there's a reason for mattress protectors. Something cheap like this can do a lot to protect your mattress from long term stains and smells, you can always take it off and wash it:

if the first time was an accident the couch now smells like potty.

You need to clean it with an enzymatic cleaner to completely eliminate the smell for the dog.

If it happens again - then it is a training issue and you definitely need to not allow her on the couch.

I would purchase a waterproof mattress protector to cover the seat cushions AFTER you use the enzyme cleaner.

This way if there are other occurrences, it won't actually soil your couch again.

u/zoofunk · 5 pointsr/LifeProTips

u/EmreCanPuns · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

They don't say they're waterproof, I wouldn't waterproof yours as the chemicals would dehydrate the leather. Because water is polar and oil is non-polar, whenever you oil (condition - upkeep) your boots, it essentially kinda waterproofs the leather. I've stepped in many puddles and have never had wet socks.

Definitely get a mattress topper. Here's a link to the one I bought, I would pay $200 for how comfortable it is.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

u/AstigAk · 2 pointsr/HomeImprovement

I would suggest getting heated mattress pads like this. They use very little energy, and only heat where you need it (in bed). This way, they can turn the heat down in the whole house at night. That will solve part of your problem.

Next, If they haven't already, I would look into air-sealing. Air sealing is one of the most cost-effective ways to save energy. All of the insulation in the world won't really matter much if the house is not air-sealed.

Lastly, at the risk of sounding condescending (I'm not), buy them some sweaters.

u/Kadin2048 · 1 pointr/GoodValue

Also I can recommend this heated mattress pad if you want to go that route:
http://www.amazon.com/Micro-Plush-Low-Voltage-Electric-Heated-Mattress/dp/B003ZSHDEK

It's a bit more expensive than traditional ones because it has a transformer that drops the voltage actually going through the heating coils (makes it a little more safe around pets who might chew/claw it). If you don't have pets you can get a Sunbeam one for about $40 less.

u/morgf · 1 pointr/Mattress

The obvious thing is to take a deep fitted sheet or mattress pad with strong elastic all around and put it over the topper and the mattress. You can also use some of those clip on elastic bands that fasten across the corners of the fitted sheet to pull it tight.

https://www.amazon.com/Original-Sheet-Suspenders-fasteners-Adjustable/dp/B00451BG2G/

If you mean you already did that and it was not enough, then put a tight-fitting cover on the topper (if there is not already one). If you are lucky, you can find a topper cover that has elastic bands already sewn onto each of the corners. If you cannot find one like that, then get some wide and heavy elastic from the store and sew some on yourself. Or you can use the long elastic-band clip "sheet suspenders" attached to the topper cover to hold it in place.

https://www.amazon.com/ORIGINAL-Sheet-Suspenders-fastener-featured/dp/B0014AMBWK/

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0064D0PBG/

Also, if your mattress topper cover does not already have a rubbery bottom, you can get a piece or two of non-slip grip material that is also used to keep rugs from sliding, and put it between the topper and the mattress.

u/mrcj22 · 3 pointsr/NCSU

Bring a small fan like this. Dorms can get really hot, plus its great to use as white noise to focus on if people are being loud when you're getting to sleep.

I would also get a foam mattress topper. Not the terrible egg crate style, but temurpedic type memory foam. (Doesn't need to be tempurpedic brand obviously.)

Now, what difference between CMD9900LS and AJ DHR6000? I been snooping around this r/ and I see comments about the new DHR is no longer Japanese cottons and it oversea ones, is it worth buying it as suppose to CMD9900?
And lastly, I own a CMD9150, how do I re-fluff the mid-section of the pillow?

Thanks

u/jfritsche · 2 pointsr/NovemberBumpers2017

This is what I got...solely based on the fact that it was available for same-day delivery. LOL The price was right, though, too. It's very comfy and fluffy but firm enough to be supportive.

They might not work for everyone but when I had a case of bed bugs about 3 years ago and ordered this one for my mattress: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Z06F2OI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and this one for my box spring (same brand): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011M87Q50/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I used those covers on my bed, covered my floor and bed frame with diatomaceous earth, and had an exterminator come and thankfully never had a recurrence.

Honestly, it doesn't bother me, since I know I'm going to get horribly gross every time I'm on a plane, and then I just clean me/my clothes right afterwards.

But, if you're really excited by this idea, something like this might be best: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003PWS9AI/

It's waterproof/non-permeable, but small enough to pack in a carry-on without too much issue. Essentially just a waterproof fitted sheet.

u/edubkendo · 3 pointsr/sex

Get a waterproof mattress protector to go under your sheets. As for the wet spot, we just throw a towel over it and change our sheets on our regular schedule. Other people like to use something like https://www.amazon.com/Liberator-Fascinator-Throe-Moisture-Resistant-Blanket/dp/B00EOXYQPE . Another common suggestion is putting down puppy training pads (which seems super unsexy to me, but some folks don't seem to mind).

You could get her a "boyfriend pillow,"and there are a bunch of even more extensive and novel designs:

When I lived in my smallish 1 bedroom apartment I kept the thermostat at 72 or 73. When I moved into my 2 bedroom condo with tall ceilings I set it down to 65 or 67. At night I'll let it hit 60. I also bought one of these for sleeping. Highly recommend.

Honestly....I got used to it really quick. Without a sweater too. 67 feels rather warm now, and 60-63 is where I start to get chilly.

My what a $500 electric bill will make you tolerate.....

The electric mattress pads work and are definitely worth the money. I bought this one about a year ago.

u/TheCatsMe0wth · 3 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Oh, that's not bad at all! But I can understand how you're feeling, especially since you haven't lived alone for 10 years.

A friend of mine is doing her residency in another province, and her boyfriend bought her this: https://www.amazon.com/Boyfriend-Pillow-Original-Body-Blue/dp/B0046GK1AI

Definitely not for everyone, but who knows!

Sheet garters.

Went into a store once and asked for these, and I musta mumbled or something, because the clerk gave me a shocked look and said, "WHAT kind of garters?"

"Sir, we don't stock that sort of merchandise. You might wish to try a store that deals in...animal husbandry supplies."

OK, so she didn't really say that last bit. But she was thinking it...

Hi! The mattress pad I bought for living in the dorms was this one:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002NEG15E
I think it was cheaper when I bought it a year ago, but considering you use this every night I wouldn't get a super cheap one - your back will thank you.

It's rather cosy and can take a lot of use (no tears yet, 1 year later!) Heck, even though I have a fairly new mattress and box spring now that I'm living in an apartment I am still using the pad on top of it all. You will want a twin XL size for the topper and sheets in the dorms, but you can continue to use both of them on a regular twin bed later on.

Maybe look into a sex blanket so that you don't have to worry about ruining anything.

It's kind of expensive there, but I'm sure you can find them cheaper elsewhere.

Probably the best bet, but not cheap:

http://www.amazon.com/Liberator-Fascinator-Throe-Moisture-Resistant-Blanket/dp/B00EOXYQPE

It's also an actual blanket, so not obviously a sex product

/r/QueeeeenSheela seriously if you are having that issue buy these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004I3VDWY?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf they are a God send. I had sheets that the elastic was basically gone on and barely fit my queen and it fixed them right up and they didn't come off for weeks. I've even turned a top sheet with no elastic into a bottom sheet with these.

No, a mattress pad before the memory foam craze meant like a mattress protector, like another cotton, sometimes lightly padded fitted sheet that is sometimes waterproof / water resistant which keeps your sweat and body oils from leeching into the mattress. ex https://www.amazon.com/-Mattress-Protector/dp/B003PWS9AI/

> Other overhead includes a decent-sized warehouse that probably runs them $50K annual including utilities, and quite likely a truck or two.

They could potentially just send everything into FBA with no quality control, correct?

On top of Amazon's 15% commission, what does an average order look like for a Prime-shipped FBA'd item?

https://www.amazon.com/LUCID-Hypoallergenic-Waterproof-Mattress-Protector/dp/B00A2G9VFM

The seller gets that item manufactured in China

They ship it overseas right into an FBA warehouse

They have to pay the... $7-$10 shipping fee to ship it to a customer, no? $17 - $7 is $10. 15% Amazon fee: $8.50. The cost of the product has to be in the ball park of $3. $5.50. How much do storage fees cost? What about import tariffs, etc.?

You seem very knowledgable on this topic. Are you an FBA seller?

I have a snoogle and it was the move comfortable thing ever the first night I used it. I actually came home EXCITED to go to bed!

Then the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th nights it was a NIGHTMARE. I was waking up every 40 minutes uncomfortable.

I put it away, using my normal costco body pillow right now but may try the snoogle again later on. I want to look into this one or one like it

http://www.amazon.com/Shaped-Premium-Contoured-Pregnancy-Maternity-Zippered/dp/B00K6K4SOS

The snoogle is a weird shape that makes flipping over difficult, as Im a flipper.

The Review Meta extension says that product has a lot of fake reviews. I see a lot of upvotes, can anyone else vouch for either this pillow or the sweethome being trustworthy? I don't want to accuse OP of being a shill, but I've been getting more and more wary of this kind of thing.

This is the one I bought. I've only ever used them for fitted sheets. You just clip them onto the corners of your sheets and tighten the straps

There are clips you can buy which pull the corners tight together underneath the mattress - my wife and I used to deal with the sheet popping off every day and this fixed it.
