Top Reddit comments about Bike Grips:

As others have said, it depends on you. I have two bikes and for commuting, my primary ride has flats with Ergon grips. I love those things - they give you multiple hand positions and some nice cushioning.

My road bike has drops, I don't usually use it for commuting, but I've also gone and added some gel pads like these.

> Bike bells have been domed since they were invented in 1877. In which time we’ve sent man to the moon, cloned a sheep, and created hundreds of different styles of beautiful bicycle, yet not reimagined this simple analogue device. What if it wasn’t a dome? What if it didn’t protrude from your handle bar like a blister?

Some cheapy lock-ons from pricepoint , They work great and fit my hands well.

Very similar to these ones: https://www.amazon.com/Origin8-31698-Pulsion-Locking/dp/B00288JF26/

I run ODI Rogue as well, great grips. Just make sure you buy an extra set of their lockjaw clamps. The grips I bought only came with two.

BTW, if you have the same color I ordered these grips and by fluke they match the shock elastics perfectly. A little color on the all black and some sweet grips was a nice touch - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01C5CRMME/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Your buddy has it right. Just starting out some butt pain is completely normal and you get desensitized to it over time, unless there's some bike fit issues, ofc.

> Although my hands were looking for more positions....

Look in to ergonomic bar ends. It helps a ton and makes the ride a lot more comfy. I am using this and it's great, but there's many way better ones too and they are not expensive.

Someday when I feel ambitious enough to care about my aging truck, I'll probably try this

If you're going with foam, they're pretty much all gonna be the same. If you want to change to a different material/style, there are a world of possibilities. I personally quite like Oury grips.

u/electronicentity · 1 pointr/MTB

I am never happy with factory grips. I like something with a little more squish to take out more trail vibration and fit my hands better. Here are my favs: http://www.amazon.com/Oury-Grip-BKMT-MTN-Black/dp/B0011YLCR4/ref=sr_1_1?s=cycling&ie=UTF8&qid=1345480283&sr=1-1&keywords=oury

u/yourmightyruler · 1 pointr/MTB

You can't go wrong with ODI.

I personally like SRAM lock on grips. Due to the fact that I like thinner grips.

u/SgtBaxter · 5 pointsr/cycling

Easiest thing is to replace the grips with something like Ergon grips that have the little bar ends.

u/woodyb123 · 1 pointr/mountainbiking

I highly recommend these grips, they match the bike but they get torn up. Though that does make them much more comfortable because they are very soft

These are fantastic! Soft and grippy and allow me to switch up hand position from time to time. They offer different extension lengths but I was afraid anything longer might get in the way when the bike folded.

u/cknlegs · 1 pointr/electronic_cigarette

In that case BMX bike grips are usually silicone and the inner diameter should usually be around 22mm. They could probably add some shock resistance, heat hesistance and water resistance to a mod.

Edit: I'd feel pretty comfortable submerging the side of my mod that is covered in the grip.

u/MyMostGuardedSecret · 1 pointr/bicycling

I need to buy some new handlebar grips. I'm looking at the Ergon GP3. My question is there is a cork version and I'm trying to figure out what the value of the cork is.

So... what's the value of the cork?

u/mothfukle · 3 pointsr/MTB

If you have big hands, and want something with some padding i would recommend ODI Rogue I have been using these for years and have never had a reason to switch.

u/bozo_ze_clown · 3 pointsr/MTB

I put these on mine, very comfortable (also have big hands) with good cushion and grip. Can't speak to the longevity of them yet but I'm happy so far, and when they do wear out the rubber grip by itself is only $15 for replacements so I figure it's no worries.
