  • Oil Cleanser (Nighttime Only): Innisfree Apple Juicy Cleansing Oil $17.99; oil cleanser helps to melt off makeup and sunscreen and emulsifies with water for a clean finish. Note: You don't have to use a special oil cleanser, you can also use grapeseed oil, additive-free mineral oil, jojoba oil, or olive oil, just be aware you will typically require a second cleanse to completely remove the oil from your face. I personally use neem oil which is antimicrobial and antifungal because of adult acne, but it is a drying face oil.

  • Cleanser: CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser $11-17; has ceramides, glycerin, and hyaluronic acid. Has the appropriate 4.5 pH necessary for cleansers.

  • Serum: OST Pure Vitamin C Serum $18.49; will help with evening and brightening skin tone, complexion clarity, and anti-aging -- requires long-term consistent use to see max benefit.

  • Hydrating Toner: Rohto Hadalabo Gokujyn Hyaluronic Acid Lotion (Moist) $17.54; contains hyaluronic acid and other hyaluronates, helps to lock liquid in skin, try to apply to slightly damp skin to max benefit. The HA needs moisture to grab onto and some people experience drying if they apply a product with high HA on dry skin.

  • Hydrating Serum: Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence $17; contains snail secretion filtrate, aloe, glycerin, arbutin, naturally derived salicylic acid, and azelaic acid (review here for more info on ingredients}, helps with wound healing, redness, lightning PIH, and soothing inflammation.

  • Face Oil: Pura d'or 100% Pure & USDA Organic Argan Oil $19.99; high in fatty acids which helps moisturize and soothe irritated and dry skin, optional vendor: Garden of Wisdom. Note: A good face oil is a trial and error thing, you may prefer: avocado oil, passionfruit seed oil, rosehip seed oil, etc. Certain oils are more drying, others are richer and more moisturizing. You may have to engage in some research and experimentation to find which is right for you and most can be found for under $20 if you look.

  • Emulsion/Milk (Daytime Only): Hada-Labo Shirojyun Arbutin Milk $16.35; High hyaluronic acid and glycerin content, is slightly richer than the toner previously listed and can be used as a daytime moisturizer underneath your sunscreen. Arbutin is a skin-lightening ingredient that evens skin tone and fades PIH, but you can get Rohto Hada-Labo Gokujun Hyaluronic Acid Milk $15.86; which is the same thing but without the arbutin.

  • Sunscreen (Daytime Only): Up to you, one of the trickier products out there and I assume you have something you like already. Asian sunscreens tend to have a better cosmetic finish but rely on chemical sunscreen ingredients. I personally use EltaMD UV Lotion Broad-Spectrum SPF 30+ which is marketed for body but has the same ingredients as EltaMD's facial sunscreen.

  • Moisturizing Cream (Nighttime Only): Benton Snail Bee High Content Steam Cream $17.00; Contains snail secretion filtrate, peptides, fatty acid rich oils, and niacinamide to help moisturize, prevent water loss, and encourage wound-healing. One of the richest face creams I've personally tried with good ingredients for the price. For details on the ingredients, see here. Remember if your T-zone is oily, you don't have to apply it there!

Option 2: EltaMD PM Therapy Moisturizer $22.13; high in niacinamide and linoleic acid to help restore skin's moisture. May need the aid of an occlusive like Vaseline or a sleeping pack (see below).

  • Special - Sleeping Pack: Option 1 Mizon Multi Function Formula Snail Wrinkle Care Sleeping Pack $14.98; Option 2 Etude House Moistfull Collagen Sleeping Pack $15.96; Option 3 Laneige Water Sleeping Pack EX $33.99; Sleeping packs are extra rich creams which go on top of all your other skin care at night to give you an extra boost in moisture. Similar to people putting a thin layer of Vaseline on at night, you put a thin layer of the sleeping pack on and sleep with it over night 2-3 times a week as needed. They're more of an extra thing, not an every day thing, much like a face mask.

That is an example of a moisturizing and non-irritating East Asian skincare routine using products that are all $20 or under each (barring a couple options), each with good hydrating and anti-inflammatory actives. Almost all are available through Amazon or through a singular vendor like W2Beauty which usually has coupon codes and can combine shipping. Target will carry the Laneige line in stores, but it is more a mid-price range. I can't personally guarantee they'll work for you, but the starting points are all there for you to do the research yourself if need be.

Thx for the info. Here's my super long post but I wanted to give you useful information. I think you’re on the right track in terms of “active” ingredients (BHA, AHA, retinol, etc.) but I’d switch your routine up to ensure maximum product efficacy (the order you layer your products effects their absorption) and I'd switch your products to more tried-and-true ones like inthegloww suggested as well. Below are my suggestions with a little science behind them, courtesy of the bloggers “snow white and the Asian Pear” and “lab muffin”. As others have noted, unfortunately there’s no magic bullet formula for flawless skin, so you’ll just have to keep monitoring your skin daily and adjust your products accordingly.

Definitely ditch the following:

  1. Burt’s Bee’s Brightening Face Wash: Unsure of the pH. Us acne-prone folks need to use a low pH cleanser.
  2. the hyaluronic acid (HA): I know there’s a lot of hype around HA right now but it could be making your skin drier if there’s no moisture in the air since its humectant. You need to lock it in with an occlusive on top (sealant). I think a good moisturizer will be more than sufficient.
  3. the moisturizer with the vitamin C:
    a.) I don’t think you need vitamin C at this stage of the game and;
b.) It might not even be effective in the moisturizer since Vit C is a finicky active. (It comes in many forms, some are pH dependent; needs to be in a concentration of 20% to be effective; begins to oxidize if mixed w/water so stabilizers are needed [serums tend to be more stable then cream formulas for this reason]; air/photosensitive so it needs to be in dark air tight packaging like a pump. It’s a pain in the butt.)

    AM Routine
    1. Cleanser: CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser - $12
Acidic Cleanser: Clinical studies have shown that an alkaline cleanser, high pH (greater than 6.0 pH), contributes to the proliferation of acne bacteria on the skin. An acidic pH (less than 6.0 pH) is less bacteria-friendly. CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser has a 5.5 pH, and contains ceramides which help protect the skin barrier.
    2. Active: Salicylic acid (BHA) - Humane Clarifying Toner. If you feel like switching, try [Paula’s Choice SKIN PERFECTING 2% BHA Liquid] (https://smile.amazon.com/Paulas-Choice-SKIN-PERFECTING-Exfoliant-Facial-Blackheads/dp/B00949CTQQ/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1518761128&sr=1-1&keywords=paulas%2Bchoice%2Bbha&th=1) - $25 on Amazon // $30 on her site but she frequently runs 20% sales + you can use a rebate site too to save even more (Coupon Cabin is 8.5% back currently).
BHA: Salicylic acid is only effective at certain pHs 3-4pH and concentrations (1 – 2%). Paula’s Choice is pH range of 3.2–3.8
    3. Active: AHA - AHA Enhanced Renewal Cream. Apply AHA following BHA, but only 1-2x a week to start. If you feel like switching, try [Mizon AHA 8% Peeling Serum] (https://smile.amazon.com/Mizon-AHA-8-Peeling-Serum/dp/B00F35GT0W/ref=sr_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1518760920&sr=8-4&keywords=Mizon%27s+AHA+8%25+Peeling+Serum&dpID=41diUr7YN6L&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch)
AHAs are not oil-soluble (difficulty penetrating oily areas of your face such as the T-zone) but BHAs are. So, apply the BHA first to clear out the sebum in your pores, then apply the AHA which can then penetrate your skin more effectively. Ideally, you’d wait 15-20 min. between applications for optimal results but who has time for that?
    4. Moisturizer: [CeraVe Facial Moisturizer PM] (https://smile.amazon.com/CeraVe-Facial-Moisturizing-Lotion-Lightweight/dp/B00365DABC/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1518763286&sr=1-4&keywords=CeraVe+Facial+Moisturizer+PM) - $9
Contains ceramides and niacinamide which has been shown to reduce pore size.
    5. Sunscreen: Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF50+/PA++++
—Japanese sunscreen. Non gloopy physical/chemical combo, doesn’t leave a white cast, some folks like to use it as primer pre-makeup

    PM Routine:
    1. Cleanser: CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser
    2. Active: Antioxidant - [Trilogy Rosehip Oil Antioxidant] (https://smile.amazon.com/Trilogy-Rosehip-Antioxidant-1-01-Ounce/dp/B0081JE0VM/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1518761377&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=Trilogy+Rosehip+Oil+Antioxidant&psc=1) - $22
Rosehip Oil: A linoleic-rich oil (an omega-6 fatty acid). Acne-prone skin tends to have a low % of linoleic acid and high % of oleic acid in the sebum. It’s thought that these low levels could be one of the things causing acne. Oils with a high linoliec acid content typical go rancid w/in 3-6 months but the antioxidants in this brand keep it shelf stable for three 3 yrs.
    3. Active: Retinoid - I'd try azelaic acid, Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% - $8. If you want it stronger, it comes in Rx as well.
Azelaic Acid: "According to Wikipedia, it can treat mild to moderate acne, both
comedonal acne and inflammatory acne. It works by killing acne bacteria that infect skin pores AND it decreases the production of keratin, which is a natural substance that promotes the growth of acne bacteria. So it tackles clogged pores like a BHA preventing future acne and kills bacteria to improve current acne. It also fades hyperpigmentation, like an AHA, but without photosensitivity and unlike some forms of AHA, it can be safely used by those with deeper skin tones." quoting snow white and the Asian Pear
    4. Moisturizer**: CeraVe Facial Moisturizer PM or [CeraVe Moisturizing Cream] (https://smile.amazon.com/CeraVe-Moisturizing-Cream-Daily-Moisturizer/dp/B001V9SXXU/ref=sr_ph_1_s_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1518769817&sr=sr-1&keywords=cerave&th=1) if you need something heavier - $12

I'm glad i was able to inspire you!

My go to products:

Cleansers/removers:
I have weird cimbo skin too if i treat my acne i get red and weird. If i moisturize i get acne.
I have found that alternating between st. Ives blemish control apricot scrub and garnier's moisture rescue cleansing foam keeps my skin from getting oily or acne ridden.

Makeup remover:
I love love love almay's oil free makeup remover pads.

Moisturizer: garnier moisture rescue for normal to combo. It is super moisurizing, smells nice and is cheap. Its also a dupe for clinique's moisture surge moisturizer.

Lip balm:
I love nivea's lip balm tubes specifically their kiss of vitamin swirl. It keeps my lips moisturized and applied over lip products it gives a glossy sheen that is long lasting, not drying and not sticky!

I also use soft lips- any of the clear ones as a sort of primer for preventing lip products from drying out.

Brushes: i don't know if you have a Meijer by you, but i have the Studio M brush line set and it is similar to EcoTools in quality but much cheaper. I love them! As far as i know they are only available at Meijer though.

Primers:
For eyeshadow i like to use elf's studio primer, but if you can afford it, go with urban decay's. And for my face i use loreal's magic perfecting base. I find that it fills my pores and keeps me from getting oily throughout the day.

Face:
I love loreal's true match collection! I have a really hard time finding face makeup as well and discovering this line was revolutionary. I use their concealer and liquid foundation currently.

I also love rimmel's match perfection 2 in 1 concealer and highlighter for my under eye circles, as well as their stay matte powder for all over face application.

Lips: I love lip crayons! When i use tube lipstick i sometimes get outside the lines, and the kid in me gravitated to crayons. I am lusting after nyx's collection, but i am currently using Ulta's collection. They are usually more expensive than Nyx's but are currently on sale in stores and online for $2! I have found that rumors is a good neutral shade, daredevil is a bold red, and fashionista is a nice bold pink.

Eyebrows:
I currently am using rimmel's professional eyebrow pencil and love it.

Shadow:
I am currently using sephora's brown eyes pro lesson pallette and it changed my life-really.

Liner:
I use ulta's precision liquid eye liner (the marker) to get the shape i want (and for everyday) and sometimes top with nyx's studio liquid liner for it's long lasting power.

For kohl/colored liners i love the sephora collection line, especially the nanos.

Mascara:
For everyday use i use maybeline falsies. I also sometimes layer with rimmel's lycra lash extender.

I hope this all helps! Added Links!

So I do want to preface this by saying that my acne is largely hormonal. I don't break out because a product/fragrance is too harsh, nor is my acne really a result of clogged pores (like with dirt, oil, etc.), so YMMV if you've got sensitive or very acne-prone skin.

  • Moisturizers: I like to combine CeraVe moisturizing cream (in the big tub) and The Estee Edit pink peony overnight water pack. After I cleanse in the morning (I use Soap and Glory peaches and clean deep cleansing milk if you were curious) I apply the CeraVe first and then the Estee one right on top. At night, I'll do the same thing but if I'm extra dry I'll also add a few drops of sweet almond oil on top of everything. You can get sweet almond oil fairly inexpensively on Amazon, I use this brand. Also, a note of caution on the CeraVe moisturizer: it’s kind of heavy and it may take your skin a little while to adjust to it, during which time you might find yourself looking a little greasy. Keep using it, though! Once you’re used to it, it’s a fantastic moisturizer.

  • Primer: I'm currently using the Too Faced Hangover Primer which I have mixed feelings about. Sometimes I feel it doesn't really help the longevity of my makeup but it's gentle and does seem to moisturize a bit. I might look for something else once I finish up what I have, though. I used to use the very silicone-y primers (Smashbox photo finish, NYX studio perfect) before I realized that I really didn't like the feel of them on my face because they just sit on top of your skin. I've also heard of these types of primers clogging pores a bit.

  • Foundation: Tarte Amazonian Clay. It's medium-full coverage but still looks quite natural if you apply it well. I almost always apply it with a damp Real Techniques sponge because it gives a better finish. You can build up coverage faster with a brush, but it'll emphasize dry patches a lot more unless you're really, really careful about using a stippling motion rather than buffing. You can also try applying it with your fingers - I did that today to try and get my makeup on quicker and it looked awesome. Like I don't know if I was just having a good skin day or if I unlocked a mystical secret of this foundation but I was seriously shocked at how good it looked.

  • Concealer: Makeup Forever full cover concealer. Really good coverage without looking cakey or emphasizing dry spots. This is great for covering blemishes but it’s way too heavy for concealing under your eyes. If my skin is looking really bad and I’ve got some extra time in the morning, I’ll use a green concealer underneath the MUFE one as well. I’m currently using the NYX full coverage concealer (in the little jar), but because it’s pretty solid, it’s way, way too dry for my skin, so I’m on the lookout for a good green liquid concealer.

  • Powder: Bare Minerals mineral veil. I sweep a very light layer over my face just to set everything and provide a good base for blending blush on top of it. Loose powders like this one look more natural on me than pressed powders and are a lot less likely to look dry and cakey.

  • Setting spray: I use the Urban Decay all nighter spray. It seems pretty good, but this is the only setting spray I’ve ever used and I only started using it a couple of months ago so I don’t really have anything to compare it to. Sorry I can’t be more helpful in this category!

I have been dealing with redness for a while too. I'm pretty sure it's primarily genetic, but being dehydrated does not do me any favors.

There are a couple of things I've tried or been told to try and some have helped a bit. My mom has rosacea and I'm pretty sure I have a mild case of it as well, but I haven't really target that as much as I have tried to create a soothing routine.

Anywho things I've been told/tried (Amazon links just for info, you may consider buying some of these else where, if you decide to buy them at all):

  • Cosrx Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence: I personally didn't see any direct redness reducing effects, but I do really love this as a hydrating essence. I use it to mix oils into quite often.

  • LRP Cicaplast Baume B5: This stuff is THICC. Very soothing for me. Immediate redness reducing with some last effects. It is not very cosmetically elegant so I don't use it during the day.

  • Hada Labo Moist: This is a hydrating toner. This primarily helps with redness by plumping and hydrating my face. I find this to be an absolute workhorse in my routine, but kind of boring at the same time. I may switch to the premium version when I'm finished with my current bottle.

  • Klairs Supple Preparation Toner: This is very soothing for me and I find it does help short term with redness relif. You may have some issues with the essential oils that are in this formula, but they have just a released one that is Unscented!

  • Dr. Jart Color Correcting Treatment: This doesn't fix the problem for me, but it does cover the redness very nicely. I really like using this instead of foundation or a BB cream, it evens out my complexion very well. A little goes a long way!

  • Niacinamide: There are several products that I have tested because they contained Niacinamide. If you'd like I would be happy to link them to you. I really like this ingredient and I find it to be very helpful in a lot of ways.

  • SPF: I feel silly saying this, but honestly using SPF regularly cut my redness in half.

  • Centella Asiatica: This is one of the main soothing ingredients in the LRP Baume & Dr. Jart Color Corrector I mentioned earlier. There are several products that feature it from multiple brands. I know a couple of weeks ago there was this thread about it on /r/AsianBeauty

  • Rosehip Seed Oil: I only linked the Trilogy because that is the one I am testing right now. I really like this oil and may look for a different brand going forward. I'm not positive that it is helping my general redness, but it IS doing wonders for some of the PIE spots that I have on my chin.

Wow, I have just realized I've written you a book. My bad! I hope this helps some. These are just my experiences and suggestions, ymmv. Let me know if you have any other questions!

After using Philosophy and Proactiv facial products for a long time I suddenly began to break out regularly. As a teenager I never had pimples but mid-20s that changed. A friend recommended using Cetaphil as a moisturizer and it's really the best thing I've tried. (Her LA dermatologist referred her to it)

I have combination skin, mostly normal with some dry areas and live in an arid climate. Once daily face washing before bed with toner and make up remover, usually apply my moisturizer twice a day, and sunscreen once a day. A really easy, no fuss routine and my skin is much happier after I stopped messing with it and went the less is more route.

Here are my go to products

Cetaphil moisturizer
http://www.amazon.com/Cetaphil-Fragrance-Moisturizing-16-Ounce-Bottles/dp/B001ET76GW/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1369894969&sr=8-4&keywords=cetaphil

Witch Hazel Toner - At first the smell bothered me but it works. My boyfiriend likes it too.
http://www.amazon.com/Dickinsons-Original-Witch-Hazel-Perfecting/dp/B000GCQ04C/ref=sr_1_2?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1369895306&sr=1-2&keywords=witch+hazel+toner

Sweet almond oil is the best eye make up remover and moisturizer. It also works great as a men's shaving oil.
http://www.amazon.com/Foods-Sweet-Almond-Moisturizing-ounce/dp/B0019LVFSU/ref=sr_1_1?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1369895423&sr=1-1&keywords=almond+oil

This is my favorite splurge item from Philosophy.
http://www.amazon.com/Philosophy-Micro-delivery-Triple-Acid-12-count/dp/B006GACVYQ/ref=sr_1_4?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1369895490&sr=1-4&keywords=philosophy+pads

I use an Aveeno facial sunscreen and sometimes those make up remover pads if I'm in a hurry, am feeling lazy or during traveling. Natural make up is my style, I don't use a foundation or anything because my skin is pretty great. Favorite make up brands are BareMinerals, MAC, Benefit and Too Faced.

Hope this helps you to simplify your regimen and make your skin happy in your new home. : )

I'm including links to what I purchased on Amazon but you can shop around and get what you need :) If you end up getting what I'm linking to, it'll last you quite a while. I even sell some occasionally.

This is my nut free version but you I'll include some alternatives if you want to use different butters/oils. Basically, you want equal parts so adjust the recipe for amount you want. This will give you a little more than 2oz of body butter which lasts me at least a month and I put it on quite a bit. You only need a little at a time.

  1. Combine everything into a double boiler. If you don't have one, using a mason jar in a pot of boiling water works nicely. Melt the butters on medium low to medium heat, stirring constantly, just until everything is mixed and there are no solids left.

  2. Pour into small mixing bowl. Note: This is where I usually add essential oils, but during pregnancy, you'll want to be extremely careful about using them since many shouldn't be used. You don't need them, but if you want the added benefits, there are sites out there that can tell you which are considered safe. If you add them, let the oils cool for a few minutes then add them and stir the mixture well

  3. Put the bowl in the fridge for 45 minutes until it starts to solidify. If you don't want to wait that long, you can put it in the freezer for about 15 minutes until it starts to solidify. The edges will look more solid but the center should still be pretty liquid.

  4. Either with a whisk or an electric hand mixer (much easier), start mixing it. It'll start to solidify into the whipped texture, especially if you're using the electric mixer.

  5. When you're satisfied with consistency, put it into a jar or tupperware container. If you're somewhere hot and it starts to melt a bit, you can put it in the fridge to solidify it again.

You just need a small amount and it'll melt from your body heat and soak into your skin. Feels AMAZING.

i am not really sure what you mean about the eyelid thing, maybe a picture would help?

i have never used costal scents, but ive seen a few girls here make some nice looks with it. no idea on the quality. i know you said ELF is too expensive, but this palette is only 10 pounds. i have it and i like it. they are pretty good quality for a cheaper eye shadow palette. if you can afford some eye primer, the colors will look even better. i use urban decay primer potion, but that sounds like its a little out of your budget, maybe someone can recommend a cheap one!

i have combination skin (oily and dry! ughhh) and I always use liquid foundation. Powder can make the dry spots look really flaky. Revlon Colorstay is a good drugstore brand, I like it, it has good coverage and staying power, and I hear a lot of people mention it on here.

[edit] i see you are a teen and have youthful skin. if you dont get many breakouts and dont have a lot of unevenness in your skin tone, you could probably get away with a tinted moisterizer or a BB cream instead of a full coverage foundation. i recently got a sample of loreals BB cream and I was a big fan!

i really like ecotools brushes. They are good quality and relatively cheap!

Good luck!

Wow! Firstly, you look beautiful as is. I would kill for my breasts to look that good! Secondly, I had very similar stretch marks on my breasts and sides after I gained weight. I used this stuff called Bio-oil and it worked like magic! I used it twice a day and after I went swimming or took a shower during the day. I saw a difference in weeks and the marks started fading by month two!!

The only other thing I'd like to suggest is that you put a little more effort into accepting your body as is. Trust me I know acceptance doesn't come in a bottle and it's way easier said than done, but it's important. I know I spent a lot of time, money, and energy fixing things that I thought were "wrong" with my appearance; as soon as I got one issue under control I would just find something else to be unhappy with. It's a nasty cycle. I don't know if you can relate, but I just hope you are prioritizing acceptance because our bodies are depreciating assets anyway. Invest your energy inward.

That being said, you should do whatever makes you happy cuz I wish you lots and lots of happy :-)
Good luck!

YAY! I love being an aunt! Congratulations to you and your family.

I ain't birthed no babies! But I do have stretch marks that need to be gone before my tropical vacation, and that would make me super happy. :D

Happy Birfday! I would certainly have to recommend A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy! The series is super awesome. :)

Have fun at school!

Reflections:**
It's been a little over a year since I seriously got into skincare. At this point I'm quite satisfied with my routine and will finish all my products through. A few changes that may come:

  1. After I finish the Mad Hippie Vitamin C, I may try one with L-AA instead of SAP.
  2. I just repurchased the Trilogy Rosehip Oil but it has a strong earthy smell that is a little unpleasant; I may search for an alternative.
  3. The Fresh Black Tea Mask was great when I was first getting into skincare -- it did wonders for my dehydrated skin -- but I've noticed diminishing returns as I've actively improved my skin's moisture so I will likely not repurchase.
  4. I'm not 100% satisfied with my serum and moisturizer. I wish they were a little more moisturizing; however I have not been able to find anything better without being too heavy.
  5. PC's 2% BHA is great; I just find it annoying because I need to let it sit for at least 20 minutes for it to be effective. Would love to find an alternative that doesn't require such a long wait time.

Regarding Paula's Choice Hydrating Treatment Mask under "Moisturizer" -- this is my "cheating" routine. I use this on those occasional late nights when I've been out too long and cough am still too drunk to do my full routine. I make sure I double cleanse to get all the makeup and grime off my face, but I know I cannot get through my full routine so I slather this on to ensure my face is properly moisturized. This does wonders as an emergency 1-step-post-cleanse routine, but I do not recommend doing it on a regular basis.

I also want to note: although it's called Shu Uemura Skin Perfector Makeup Artist Oil, I use it at night as my last step (or 2nd to last step, if I'm going to use the Sulwhasoo mask).

I love Tarte blushes and lipgloss the best!

Ooo I do have a few NZ recommendations! I'll link to Amazon listings, as I'm assuming you live in N.America?

  • Trilogy Rosehip Oil - I've tried cheaper Rosehip oils and this one is an all time favourite. I feel like it smells nicer than others as well. Its a pricier brand, but very well made and their whole Rosehip range is amazing.
  • Skinfood NZ Mud Masque - cheap as chips and it's a best seller in NZ. It's an amazing mud masque with volcanic mud from Rotorua, Apricot oil and jojoba oil. Always feel so clean after using it.
  • Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey Mask - another pricy brand, but they have amazing products. This mask is really soothing and hydrating

Let me start by saying this: I would have included a before pic but I was so ashamed that I never took any pictures when I was constantly biting my nails/cuticles. I am in my early 20s and I've been doing this to them since before I can remember (early childhood). I first tried to stop around 14, and have struggled since then. It is such an ingrained stress response/habit that it's taken me years to retrain myself. It was easier to stop biting my nails and I haven't done so at all in 6 months, but my cuticles/surrounding skin are another story. This is something I still struggle with as it's triggered by stress and I don't realize I've started until they're trashed. However, since January it's happened less and less, now maybe once a month or less.

What caused the change in me? Honestly, it was never one single thing. I have been building my ability to resist for years. I realize this is cliche but one important thing is to never give up. I've had too many backslides to count, from 1 day to even half a year at the most. What's helped me is NEVER accepting defeat, and always eventually trying again. One motivating factor was that I've always wanted to have nice nails for getting engaged/married. It was in January that that became an event occurring sooner rather than later, so I will definitely say that has helped me stay focused!

There was one part of stopping the habit that scared me after years of constantly damaging my nails and cuticles: would they ever properly heal and grow back 'normal'? As of yet I still do not have one straight answer. I will say that the strength in my nails has improved, although it is slow going. I am still on the lookout for products to help with this, although I think only time will help. I also tend to have some nails which are very ridged, but they've also continued to smooth out. Finally, there is one cuticle I have which was permanently damaged in a way that's difficult to explain. Basically, it grows in three separate sections, almost as if it's cut. I was absolutely AMAZED when it started to grow 'connected' again! I will say this it sometimes splits still, but it is definitely progress and I hope one day it's completely healed. So, if you're in the same boat and worried permanent damage has been done, I can't make any promises but I will say it's amazing how well they can bounce back - even if it takes months or years to reverse it.

What helped me:

  • Homemade nail oil pens - all you need are empty containers and Jojoba oil
  • Burt's Bees lemon cuticle cream - I use this as extra moisturization/to 'seal' in the jojoba oil
  • Splitting/cracking nails? Use brush on nail glue - WAY more effective/simple than the tea bag technique for me personally!
  • 24/7 painted nails - letting them 'breathe' may be generally good advice, but I promise you biting them is more damaging
  • No nail clippers/glass files only - I cannot tell you how much this helped my nails to stay strong and not constantly crack/split

There is honestly so much more I could say but this post would be a book! I'm just taking the time now to sit back and enjoy all of my progress.

I had a badass skincare routine going before pregnancy that is totally not pregnancy friendly; I’m talking BHA/AHAs, special face washes, and rags, everything...

I got some pretty bad acne when I had to stop my routine, probably just because my skin was oily and I hadn’t looked into how to handle it while gestating just yet. But I’m getting MUCH better in the 2nd trimester, and now it’s just healing the scars left from the hell trimester. Here we go:

Face:
Garnier Clean+ Clarifying Cleansing Gel Sensitive Skin - Takes off my makeup easily. Mostly used in the shower because washing faces in sinks is brutal in the bad way.
Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water for Oily Skin - Takes off eye makeup easily if your having trouble with your thick black eyeliner smearing down your face because you “insist on doing your makeup like a ‘vam-per’” according to your parents.
MISSHA Time Revolution Clear Toner - Expensive as shit toner that I paid over $18 for and is now listed at $15, WTF Amazon. But it’s good stuff, pregnancy safe, toner is good stuff anyway, and it’s helping with evening my skin tone back out from the acne scars.
Triple Vitamin C Serum L-Ascorbic Acid - Vit C oil to help you fake that “pregnant glow” that we were all promised...
Bio-Oil Liquid Purcellin Oil - I use an off brand that I got on clearance but omg...like...I know this stuff is expensive but it’s a miracle. You just dab some on your scarred places, like the acne marks, or where your stupid fucking cat decided your hand was a snack and ripped a hole on your hand, or dark spots on your legs because you’re still bad at shaving leg hair and not leg skin, and I swear it fades SO FAST. Also rub it all over your boobs and belly. Like pretty much I would bathe in this from the neck down if it wouldn’t bankrupt my family.
Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream for Dry/Sensitive Skin - Old faithful, the moisturizer. A tiny bit goes a long way. Also tends to make its way to my boobs when I’m tired and dont feel like using other lotions.

Body:
NIVEA Q10 Skin Firming Hydration Body Lotion - Bought pre-pregnancy. I used to use it every single morning and night on my thighs and it totally does reduce the appearance of cellulite. Now I use it lazily but it’s there and smells ok so it’s my go-to body lotion.
Lansinoh Hpa Lanolin Nipple Soothing Cream - my nipples are pierced and those things get dry in the winter. Baby may not be here yet but I went ahead and decided to try this stuff out. Seems legit. It’s super thick, moreso than Vaseline but I dig it.

I also use special toothpaste (not because pregnant, because shit teeth), a special washcloth (because I developed keratosis pilaris (sp?) and I wasn’t having it. The special rag put a stop to it FAST), lady-bits wash (because I get self conscious about sweating and smelling funky), special “sensitive skin” lube, and well I guess that’s about it. I sound like an amazon ad for many products. I’m not. Just a researcher/lover of my husband describing me as “so soft” when he touches me. 🤗

This is from the perspective of a woman who enjoys giving sensual massages to her boyfriend. There are many different oils which can be used, I'm presently using Apricot Kernel Oil. This manufacturer also makes Jojoba, Almond, Avocado, and Grape seed oils which I haven't tried. https://www.amazon.com/NOW-Foods-Apricot-Kernel-Liquid/dp/B00028MLG6?th=1

The Apricot Kernel Oil has no scent, isn't greasy, but is very nice to work with. I prefer no scent, but all the oils are fantastic carrier oils if you would like to customize scents by adding essential oils.

Depending on my mood, I may or may not restrain my partners hands, but leave his ankles free b/c I need to bend his legs to work them and his feet. We are both completely naked. I straddle him and start from the top down. With a blindfold or hood with an opening for the mouth on him, I tease by leaning in for a kiss but barely touch his lips. Maybe bite them gently or lick them.

Holding the bottle of oil a good distance from his chest, I allow it to fall in a thin stream. During the massage I change up the pressure and the parts off my hands I use, and the speed. With both hands barely touching him, almost floating over his skin, I skim the oil. Then, slowly add a bit of pressure from the palms. I circle the areolas and pinch the nipples. From his chest I move to his arms, which are out of reach unless I lean my body into his and my breasts make contact with him. I am in the position to kiss/bite his neck or whisper in his ear, as my hands stretch to work his arms.

As I move down between his legs, I make sure I make light contact with his cock. I work on his upper thigh getting closer to his most sensitive areas and accidentally graze them as I move to the other thigh. He knows when I go in and kiss the tip of his cock, that area will get only the most necessary attention. I'm a woman with a mission to massage and turn on. I pay gentle lip and mouth service to his cock and balls and use the oil to treat them the way they deserve to be treated. Never forget the perineal and anal areas.

I massage his lower leg and foot and move to the other one. During the whole process, I will occasionally go back to his mouth, neck, ears, nipples, cock and balls to show I haven't forgotten them.

I have him turn over and begin all over from the top of his sexy body, down his perfect ass, to his legs.

u/PippyPeppers · 1 pointr/malegrooming

I'd drop shampoo altogether, use conditioner. Massage your scalp gently but thoroughly with your finger tips. If your hair is long, be sure to gently smooth the conditioner through it. As for your skin, try different body washes. I like: http://www.amazon.com/Body-Shop-Tea-Tree-Wash/dp/B002K8W1UC/ref=sr_1_26?ie=UTF8&qid=1319231490&sr=8-26 and http://www.amazon.com/Body-Shop-Clearing-Facial-Regular/dp/B002K8W58K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1319231477&sr=8-1 . Look up the ingredients, they're pretty good. After you shower toss on some of this, http://www.amazon.com/Desert-Essence-Organic-Jojoba-4-Ounce/dp/B0000C0XL8/ref=sr_1_1?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1319231537&sr=1-1 . BarefootNick is also right, drink a lot of water. The less chemicals you toss in your body the better off you are. Good luck bud.

Edit: Also remember, everyone is different. What may help Derp may not help Derpina.

El Dorado is definitely a facial oil. Think of it as a "supercharged" facial oil since it has the benefit of adding 10% THDA (vitamin c), whereas many mass marketed facial oils are just mixtures of several different oil varieties. Common ones include jojoba, argan, rosehip seed, evening primrose, borage, etc.
While El Dorado is both an oil mixture + antioxidant (vitamin c in this case), but there exist other product varieties like this that are just one oil (rosehip seed in this case) + antioxidants. Additionally, there are just plain old oils sans antioxidants, so you really have a pretty wide array of options to choose from. One is not necessarily better than another, you'll just need to find one that suits your needs best.
I have similar advice regarding "how many oils" to put in your routine because it really depends on what your skins needs are. I encourage you to experiment^cautiously here. Some people can't tolerate oils at all, others can apply it several times a day and have perfectly glowing skin. It's really up to the individual to asses your skin's needs for the day and apply products appropriately. But for the love of god please don't put coconut oil on your face unless you fancy spending weeks of your life undoing the hellish pore-clogging damage it will undoubtedly do. Trust me, it is not better to have loved and lost in this particular instance.

u/dutchesse · 14 pointsr/Indiemakeupandmore

Honestly? You will screw up once or twice when you first start, but generally, it's a fairly easy process and you'll save yourself a lot of money in the long run by doing it yourself.

Just to give you an idea of how I do it, here are the items I use. If you have Amazon Student/Prime, it'll be even easier:

  • 26mm palette (this one is $19/3)

  • Pipettes

  • Jojoba oil

  • Double-ended spatula

  • Alcohol (I believe mine is 70%, but I'm not able to check on that. Either way, if you're living in a dorm, this is something you may want to have anyways in a first aid kit)

For me, I mix it in small tupperware (obviously, I don't use this for storing food at anymore). For 2 small packets of Shiro samples (or even a minijar (both of which fit comfortably in the aforementioned palette)), I use a mixture of no more than 3 drops of jojoba oil and use alcohol to mix it into a paste, of which I then place into the aluminum palette.

You don't want to use an excessive amount of the oil because then it will almost never dry and dilute the color. Whereas, alcohol evaporates out faster so you want to use more of the alcohol than the jojoba oil (or whatever binding solution you choose). Once it gets dried down to a certain point, you can press if you choose to, but I never feel I need to when I do it this way because it's generally pretty uniform.

I know dorm rooms are crampy, but you can do this anywhere once you get the hang of it and for cheaper than having someone else do it (especially if you take into consideration the excessive shipping costs--which will be more than the cost of what you'd be using for some of these products alone).

    ETA: Added details.

There is a cheap hair product called Africa's Best, a bottle is like $2 at target. I LOVE it. I keep a bottle in my shower and in the barn haha. It's basically just every oil under the sun. It's super hydrating, hasn't caused any irritation, keeps them tangle free, and helps with growth. Better than all the horse products imo.

Here's a good list of natural oils

I'm personally a huge fan of extra virgin olive oil on special occasions. My wife and I love to use it for erotic massage on our entire bodies. It smells so good, and it's thick enough to have good staying power. It leaves your skin nice and soft too.

For everyday use, I've been trying almond oil lately, as an alternative to coconut oil, with great success.

u/detsher77 · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

Serum is probably the easiest thing to make, especially for dry skin because it will all be oil based. You can pre mix everything in a bottle if you have a lot of ingredients, or if you just use two you can rub them together in your hands!

For dry skin, the best serum will have a lot of fatty acids from the oils so avocado oil, jojoba oil, and apricot kernel are especially good, just a small layer of one of those alone could make a big difference on how well your creams work too.

If you want to get fancy, essential oils are great additions:

  • carrot oil for dryness,

  • chamomile, calendula, or rose for calming,

  • citrus like lemon or orange or a lavender are great astringents (but better for oily skin)

I tend to think less is more though. I get my oils from NOW Foods, I'm guessing they should ship internationally.

yup its all in the link happy to answer any questions you have but it all starts with food safe vegetable glycerine heres a link... you can also save money by mixing your own cig e juice actually and you can flavor it your self. these links are the majority of what you need. the rest a minute with the doc i linked before and you should be good to go.

Edit: use only that glycerine. dont go to wallgreens and think that you can vape the glycerine they have there or you might end up in the hospital. =) dont let that scare you, but use this glycerine and you will be a ok and being much safer than smoking.

There were a couple things that helped fixed my moisture barrier: First using a gentle pH balanced non-striping/drying cleanser. I use the La Roche Posay Toleraine Purifying Foaming Cleanser at night. I used raw honey to wash in the morning. I don't think I used a toner at the time, but if you want to I think a hydrating one would work better than an astringent one for healing skin. After cleansing, I moisturized with [grapeseed oil] (https://www.amazon.com/NOW-Grape-Seed-Oil-16-Ounce/dp/B000RZPVV6) and sealed it in with layer of Badger Unscented SPF 30 Sunscreen. I know this is a sunscreen, but it helped so much with calming redness and cysts I had at the time. I believe it was the zinc oxide that helped heal (zinc is great for skin--look it up!). I still use it to this day! I cut out all actives, and even clay masks (I was using aztec clay mask with avc and it seemed to dry out my skin and make matters worse). My routine was simplified like this for around 2 months I believe before my moisture barrier was healed. After that period I introduced more products/actives :)
Whew sorry for the long post!

I swear by Africa's Best Herbal Oil but my hair is already too fine and oily so I use it as an all over moisturizer. The smell is wonderful, it leaves my skin really soft and silky, I use it in the bath when I need a soak and one bottle has lasted me almost 1.5 years now with everyday use. I always write about this stuff when a beauty post pops up but it truly is great oil to have around.

I smashed my face last year when I fell down a mountain. Thanks to the following, my face is back to the exact same with the exception of a teeny scar. Mederma, a tad expensive due to SPF but worth it cuz it was my goddamn face, triple antibiotic ointment linked here but cheaper when purchased as a generic, and Cocoa butter with vitamin E, also available in Walmart/Target places for half the price as listed here. Basically what you're looking for is lotions with vitamin E. I've had luck looking in the "ethnic" hair/lotion/body products section, and there's a whole variety of oils and lotions and rubs. Personally, my favorite is this one and it's usually $2 in store. Bio Oil can be a bit expensive, but a great and comparable product is Africa's Best Moroccan oil, or generic Baby Oil. Again, most of these products are available at Walmart/Target for a fraction of the price. They're all fairly pricey online because of the weight/shipping prices, despite it being shipped via Prime.

I would be very careful with using Vaseline as an occlusive. Definitely patch test it for a prolong period (like 2 weeks) before going all out. Better to have a small patch of blemishes than a face full of it. It does sound like your skin might benefit from something exfoliating like the C20 to help with dullness, but without some good hydrating & occlusive products, that will just land you in trouble.

My HG hydrating & moisturizing 'products':

DYI Witch Hazel, HA, & Glycerin toner (sometimes I add a few drops of high linoleic facial oil or tea tree oil to the mixture). This is my, 'I screwed up my face using too much acne medication/trying a new product that it hates' savior. I know for a fact my skin response very well to these 3 items mixed together & I can always turn to this DYI toner without risk of a reaction. It isn't hydrating enough for me just to use it without a cream of some sort, but it is the figurative lifejacket of skincare routine.

Carezone Doctor's Solution Dematology Hydra Toner, this the most hydrating toner I've ever come across that doesn't break me out.

Carezone Doctor's Solution Dematology H.A. Cream, this cream is on the heavier side, but damn if it doesn't hydrate & moisturize my skin without causing a bad reaction.

Mediheal Mediental Balhyo-Jinjeong Healing Mask is the best damned face mask I've ever used (thank you, Snow White & Asian Pear!) Comfortable to use, crazy moisturizing, & soothing as all get out. The blue, yellow, & purple versions are extremely nice, but the green one has my heart!

I tried to go with cheaper, more accessible Asian & Western products, & soooooo much regret, especially in regards to the toner & cream. As long as they make that those 2 Carezone products & that Mediheal mask, I will be a loyal customer! My only regret is they aren't the easiest to buy. I usually get all 3 off Koreadepart but I may try another vendor the next time I need to order them.

If you're not sensitive to snail, the COSRx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence might be the way to go. It's got a pretty limited ingredient list & it's easy to get a hold of without breaking the bank.

Please keep in mind that my face was a tiny bit angry in the pictures from last night as I had just finished OCM. The morning pictures are from right after I woke up, before doing any of my morning routine. :)

My skin type: Pretty dry, acne-prone (obviously), prone to redness. I also have dermatillomania (compulsive skin picking) which creates a lot of scabs/scars.

Thanks so much!

I bought this coconut oil from my local grocery store for $4, but it's being sold on Amazon for $14. Because the quantity is so low, it's not worth $14 imo. You can always look for something at your own grocery store, but my sister uses this brand and loves it. Honestly it's all the same :)

edit: BUT I do hear fractionated is easier to work with since it's not in solid form! :)

I am a big proponent of straight jojoba oil. I love it so much that my first post in r/wicked_edge was about jojoba oil.

Also, I love ToOBS Luxury Herbal Aftershave Cream. It's got those all natural ingredients you asked about, like honey and wheatgerm and avocado oil. It's the one cream I have tried that really just disappears into the skin and leaves it feeling so soft and relaxed.

I also like most all of Nancy Boy's products. Their Cooling Aftershave Gel is nice but it is mostly aloe vera so it's a bit too goopy when first putting it on. The signature scent is a mix of lavender, peppermint, and rosemary which is a very nice mix; not too macho, not too femme.

Also, you say you splash cold water on your face and wait 20 minutes before applying aftershave. Have you ever tried using an alum block? Alum helps close the pores, tone the skin, have antimicrobial properties, etc. If you have a good shave with a sharp blade, proper lathering, etc then, after rinsing off the excess lather post-shave, running an alum block over your face might help you reduce or eliminate that twenty minute wait. Of course if you have a bad shave with any razor burn you will know it as the alum will sting like the dickens (it is good for stopping any bleeding and doesn't sting as much as a styptic pen).

My usual routine is after shaving I wet a washcloth in warm water, wipe down my face, dunk the alum block in the warm water and run it over my face. I then let the sink empty and fill it with a bit of cold water, wet the washcloth and wipe my face down again. This gives the alum just about 20-30 seconds to do its job and then I'm ready for my aftershave lotion/cream/oil of choice.

Ooh, my time to shine! Swimming hair care expert here- swim 6x a week for ~90 minutes a session in chlorinated pools and still maintain shiny gorgeous locks. Do the following and you'll be good:

  • wet hair before you put cap on. Completely soak it to saturate the hair follicle.
  • after swimming rinse well, apply conditioner when you shower and rinse out, then lightly apply and leave in this stuff - to entire length of hair, concentrating a bit more at the ends

  • on weekends or when you have time, apply castor oil to roots and jojoba oil to middle and ends, leave on for 30 minutes and rinse out. Personally I like to put this on and let it soak while I hit up the eucalyptus steam room, cold plunge ice bath pool and then the dry cedar sauna. Pro Tip: grab a plastic bag if your pool provides them for you to store wet swimsuits in, and wrap that around the top of your head after putting on oil while you hit the sauna/steam- boom, instant hot oil treatment! :)
  • air dry as often as possible, blowdry as infrequently as possible
  • detangle GENTLY using mainly your fingers and not brushing tangles out harshly with brush to decrease breakage
  • when you tie hair back do so loosely, not tight
  • wait a few days between shampoos, use dry shampoo to soak up oil if necessary
  • get your thyroid checked and have PCP run regular lab work to make sure nothing else is underlying cause

  • 6 grams of Concentrates (AKA: BHO, Shatter, Wax, Oil, Hash oil, etc)
  • 1 Tbsp Coconut oil

    Decarbing

Pre-heat your oven to 250F - 260F, use the digital theremometer to keep an eye on the temp to make sure it stays around there and does not get above 260F. I like to place my concentrates into the small pyrex dish and decarb in that. Put the dish with your concentrates in the oven for 30 minutes. You can check it around the 30 minute mark and see if it is fully decarbed. Look for it to be pretty clear of all little "carbination" like bubbles. When those are mostly gone you are done decarbing. It will take around 30 minutes. Go a little longer if you want couch lock / sleepy time gummies.

When it is done decarbing pull it out and set it to the side for a minute.

    Infusing the coconut oil

Grab your medium sized pot and put a few inches of water in it. get it to a boil then turn the temp all the way down to a very low heat. When the water is ready place your dish with the freshly decarbed oil into the water bath and add the 1 Tbsp of coconut oil to the dish.

Let the two mix for a few minutes until they are nicely combined. It shouldn't take long maybe 10 minutes max.

    Grease your molds

At this point if you dont have silicone molds (I do and I still grease mine for precautions) grease your molds so you don't forget to do it before adding your gummies.

    Preping fruit juice (or water)

In the second small pyrex dish pour your real fruit juice / water or whatever base liquid you are using for your gummies. I havent tried much besides fruit juice and water but you can experiment with other liquids, but don't do an experiment on a batch with THC in it just in case something doesn't work out.

To the fruit juice / water add 1 tsp of soy lecthin and stir with the fork. Place the dish in the fridge for 5 minutes or so and stir again. Let it sit in the fridge stirring occasionaly until the soy lecthin is fully desolved.

This liquid mixture NEEDS TO BE COLD for the blooming process to work so make sure to keep it cold.

    Mixing the dry ingredients

In your small non-stick pot mix the following together: 85 grams of Jello, 5 Tbsp of Gelatin, 1/4 cup of sugar. Completely mix them all together and dont let any of them get wet yet. Stir and stir until they are completely mixed.

    Blooming

Take your mixed dry ingredients and pour in your friut juice (water) soy lecthin mixture. Stir it and get everything evenly mixed and make sure there are no lumps. When everything is evenly mixed place the lid on the small pot and let it sit for 10 minutes.

This is called "blooming" the gelatin and allows the gelatin to absorbe the water. The water needs to be cold because gelatin activates at about 120F and after that will start to set when it cools. We don't want it setting right now.

> Like, if I made a pass once over a certain area, I couldn't go over it again.

Be sure to re-lather between passes. I know it's easy to get into the habit of doing repeated strokes over the same area, but you're going to avoid irritation by only making passes over lather. There are some techniques (e.g., Blade Buffering) that require repeated passes over the same area, but if you're getting any irritation, stick to passes over fresh lather.

> Would liquid glycerin work? Like I could put it in a soap dispenser pump and squirt a little onto the brush/bowl before applying the shave soap?

Yes! That's definitely possible. Some people call it an "uberlather" (technically, an uberlather should contain cream, soap, and glycerin; however, others call anything that has added liquid glycerin an uberlather too). I sometimes use this combination too. I use this liquid glycerine from Amazon. You might be able to find it locally.

Some people say that adding gylcerine to a soap/cream is a crutch since you should just use a better quality soap to begin with. While they aren't wrong, I think it's a fine solution. If it improves the shave quality, it's okay in my book.

Honestly, washing with straight castor oil shows dramatic improvement overnight for me every time I start breaking out. It sounds counterproductive, but it's always worked for me and those I've told it about. This is the stuff I use.

  1. Wet face with warm water

  2. Massage oil into face gently for a good minute or two.

  3. Let sit for another couple minutes minimum.

  4. Use a clean hot washcloth to gently melt excess oil away "No scrubbing"

  5. Use a clean towel to pat dry your face.

  6. Apply your normal skin hydration cream.

Thank you so much!

I OCM 7 nights a week. It's safe to do every day because it is so gentle on skin. Following up with a regular cleanser won't leave my skin as soft and smooth as when I just OCM, but if there any lingering traces of makeup or grossness I feel like it helps to get everything off. When I first started OCM, I always used a regular cleanser after doing it, but now only when I've gotten really gross that day.

I have only ever used mineral oil because it works so well. This link from the sidebar talks about different kinds of oils and their various benefits and drawbacks. I may try something else in the future, but for now I am very happy with mineral oil and have seen a dramatic difference in my skin. I definitely suggest starting with mineral oil because it is so gentle, it's also fairly inexpensive. I use this stuff (as recommended by another SCA member) and have been very happy with it.

Lanolin! It's an occlusive like petrolatum, but it also absorbs through the skin. It's chemically very similar to the moisturizing layer our skin naturally produces. It's AMAZING. It gets me through my crazy-dry winter lips every year and got me through a course of accutane this summer.

One caution!: Lanolin comes from sheep (it's a waxy layer on sheep wool that's removed as a part of the woolmaking process) and if you buy unrefined lanolin, it'll kinda smell like farm animals. I think it's subtle enough, but if you're sensitive to smells you can buy refined lanolin, which is marketed to breastfeeding mothers, so you're going to have to deal with a tube that says "chapped nipples" on it.

Amazon links: Unrefined lanolin, refined lanolin

edit-- I just use lanolin at night. It keeps my lips nice and moisturized that they can take a long day of lipstick. When I was on Accutane, or occasionally in the depths of winter, I do lanolin all day and it has a nice gloss.

I need help starting a routine!

  1. Currently I just wash my face whenever I shower, and usually put lotion on in the morning (if I remember). After I get out of the shower I use jojoba oil and if I have a breakout I will put my doctor-prescribed acne medication on it.

  2. Added the jojoba oil about 1-2 months ago the help combat "beard burn"

  3. Yes?

  4. I need help creating a skin care routine, hopefully not having to buy too many products because of budget reasons. I have occasional acne break outs, and generally combination skin. Though it's been much better lately and more "normal"

Get a pair of swim shorts and a tankini top and rock it. Start with a tshirt over it, if it makes you more comfortable (if your pool allows it)...

I've lost a significant amount of weight over the past few years, used to self injure, have had multiple surgeries and have lymphedema in my legs. I am NOT a pretty picture. :)

Up until this year, I wouldn't wear capris or shorts if you paid me...a tank top? lol, no. This year, I said to hell with it and tried it out. No one cares but me! I still weigh the same as you do but I lie on the beach, scars and all and no one snickers. Sure, I may get a look or three but I think more people are concerned with their tan, watching their kids or swimming.

Oh..and Bio-oil is pretty great stuff for scars. It doesn't make old scars go away completely but it will certainly help them fade.

My now husband sent me this link before we were even dating. It made me feel a hell of a lot better and have a different view of my body.

Hope this helps.

Grapeseed Oil and Jojoba Oil. I mix about a quarter-sized puddle of jojoba, and add a nickle sized puddle of grapeseed. I rub it all over my face, then remove the makeup and oil with a hot, wet rag.

Pros:

  • removes any kind of makeup. Lip tar, waterproof mascara, foundation...it all goes. Nothin stands a chance.

  • It's pretty cheap. Those two bottles last me over a year, and I use each oil for other things as well.

  • It's easy on my sensitive, easily irritated skin

    Cons:

  • grapeseed oil smells funny. I don't like it, and I'm thinking of switching to just jojoba.

  • LAUNDRY! I use cheapy washrags from target, and eventually they just dont wash up well. I replace them about every 6-7 months.

  • Not Travel Friendly.

This is the best way I've found of cleansing my face and removing my makeup at the same time. My skin is much better overall for it. I like it much better than wipes, which was what I used previous. I'm one of those weirdos that must remove all traces of makeup before bed. No raccoon eyes for me in the morning!

The key is to constantly moisturize and use products that would work well on thin hair. Using an argan oil like this one from Amazon would certainly help. At the same time, sea salt sprays, thickening shampoos and certain pomades would suit you very well. I compiled a list of them here. Hope it helps!

I purchased a tub of lanolin last night, and it's the best thing. It's a little hard to spread, but I think leaving it near the radiator might help it. It's incredibly nice for chapped lips- and so far makes them feel great even after the 'lip balm' feeling wears off. AND it's not quite as sticky as Bag Balm.

u/ButterCupMakeUp · 2 pointsr/Indiemakeupandmore

Researching a ton about pressing but still some things i'm curious about. If I use FCO as my binder I do not need a preservative? I understand FCO has an indefinite shelf life but still no preservative is needed to prevent mold? I plan on of course making sure they fully dry after pressing but just looking to make double sure I dont ruin them with mold by not using one.

Second question is there any specific FCOs I should look for or stay away from on amazon before ordering? I see many touted as therapeutic grade, great for massages, etc but i'm not going to use it for that stuff and didnt know if those ones had added stuff in them I didnt want or if it didnt matter. I also seen some say they stayed a liquid which i'm guessing is not okay, or is it? Is that one okay or this one?

Aztec Clay Mask

And when it's sunny/if you are spending a lot of time outside, make sure to use a morning moisturizer with SPF in it.

For my pre-shave beard wash at the sink, I really like Musgo Real Glyce Lime Oil soap (MR GLO).

I don't use a brush or razor stand: brush stands on base of handle, razor on its side, both out in the open to dry.

Balms are not my thing, but Weleda is pretty good, traditional balms are nice but can be expensive, or you can make your own.

Jojoba oil can be found in the cosmetics section of drugstores or at stores like Whole Foods or on-line.

i am a male and i use to have very similar problems like you around my cheek areas. I literally tried every moisturizer i could to see if anything helped. I started using oil cleansing with almond oil which softened up the problem but my skin would still crack up. Through trial and research i have managed to control dermatitis for now. I have replaced my daily moisturizer with a mixture of argan oil and aloe vera gel. I use this twice a day(morning after i wake up and night after dinner). The good thing is that i don't even feel the mixture on my skin and it has helped soothing my skin immensly. I am not sure if it will work for u but u can give it a try. You can use any aloe vera gel and argan oil u wish but make sure they are good quality. I personally use this two:

So I have this issue too, especially on chrome. My skin is super dry but sometimes my palms are way too sweaty if I'm trying new stuff out or it's hot. If my palms are sweaty, I do tite grip 30 mind before and then dry hands during practice.

BUT, for my dry skin, I bought glycerin and cut it with 50% water at first - later I went to 75% water and found I liked that better.

You need to give it time to dry and get used to the pole burn again, but I can actually grip the pole now lol. I would highly recommend it 100%. I moisturize with corn huskers oil on pre-pole days.

yes the jackblack is like a combo of oil and silicone conditioner. i have never used it so i cant vouch for it. it has peperment which i like in some of the oils ive tried but it can irritate some people.

if you want to try just a straight one oil shave i like sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, or grape seed oil. I like to combine the three but you can use any of them individually.

I get them in the health food and natural vitamin section of H.E.B. which is my local grocery store.

u/ms_kittyfantastico · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

I really like using Vanicream as a moisturizer. It's heavy but sinks in. If my skin is super chapped, then I use lanolin as an occlusive at night. Some people also like using Vaseline, but lanolin sinks in better for me.

u/Redhotkcpepper · 2 pointsr/keto

Use a derma roller. For stretch marks around the body use something at least 1 (up to 1.5) mm long. This thing is basically a bunch of needles penetrating your skin, it damages your skin to stimulate new skin growth and collagen production.

Do this daily for at least a month to see some progress. Make sure your skin is dry and clean before rolling. Roll up and down and both sides diagonally. It’s normal to see blood. After you’ve rolled the area you can apply something like bio oil to better aid in diminishing the scars. Using this oil alone may not work because the vitamin E won’t penetrate down to the dermis layer (where stretch marks appear.)

I used this approach before and it helped tremendously! Most have faded completely and other have been most diminished, you can only see them if you’re looking for it.

u/wlkngcntrdctn · 15 pointsr/AskWomen

You sound like you're having the same problem that I had and what I've found is - the less product I use on my hair, the better my hair behaves.

I know you've mentioned having 3c hair, my hair has several textures 3c-4b, maybe 4c; however, I recently stopped using the "hair-typing" for product/style suggestions because my hair doesn't behave the way most people's hair behaves who appear to have a similar texture as me.

Now, I say you sound like me because if I hadn't figured all of this out sooner, I would have been on a medicated dandruff shampoo.

You know how there's the myth that our hair is more dry than that of "white-textured" hair? Well, that's not necessarily true. What I've noticed is this, my hair is kinky - and springy/coily in the back - yet, my scalp does in fact produce oil. That is why I cannot use the same products most people in the 4s can. My daughter, who isn't really considered black other than me being her mother, has 3a hair, and she cannot use any hair product meant for black hair either - it makes her hair frizzy.

I already knew this about my daughter's hair - she's 14 now and doesn't use any product on her hair at all, save for a Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine leave in - because it makes her hair worse. She only had to start using Garnier Fructis a couple of months ago because she bleached and dyed her hair blue, and the length of her hair goes to the top of her butt, so it gets dry at the ends. Now me, I went through different brands of creams etc because we are "supposed to "infuse" moisture into our hair, and "lock" it in so that it doesn't dry it. However, my hair always ended up frizzy and I ended up with dandruff. That's when I looked into what dandruffs actually were - my natural oils were being sort of "clogged" on my scalp by my product.

Now, I wash/condition my hair with either Ogx shampoo and conditions or recently I started using Garnier's new Whole blends line shampoo and conditioner. After washing my hair and wringing it out to dry in the shower, I use this She Moisture conditioner as a leave in, and this apricot oil I ordered from Amazon - that's all the product I use.

I don't use any combs in my hair - finger combing/detangling both in the shower and while I'm setting it. And I mostly set it in twist - about 8-ish or so all over my head. By finger combing it, I don't disturb my natural curl pattern, and I've learned that my curls stretch and/or loosen really easily. Just pulling my hair back into a hair tie can sort of "straighten" my hair - and remember, my hair has the appearance of most 4s, with 3c from the middle of my ear down.

Now, if during the week I get lazy and don't twist my hair one night and/or sleep without tying it down, I'll rejuvenate my curls with aloe vera gel and twisting it back in larger chunks - no more than five this time. This is something I discovered by chance. If my hair feels "dry", I'll use a tad bit of the same Shea Moisture leave in, or I'll use this one, but since this one has more of an "oily" feel, I tend to not use it as often. For the aloe vera gel, I'm using the rest of my TJ's aloe vera I have left over from the summer from getting burned.

My hair looks as professional as I want it to. When I take my twists out the next morning, my curls are well defined, bouncy, pliable, and soft to the touch. However, if I get lazy and/or have those days in which I don't want to deal with my curls - like an extremely humid day - I part my hair like I do when i'm setting it for twist - one in the front where my "bangs" are, two sections behind both ears, and two - four sections in the back. After twisting those sections, I'll twist them into bigger "twists" and pin them in the middle of my hair and pinning my bangs up to the side behind my ear. EVERYONE thinks I've done something fancy, when in fact, it's the easiest hairstyle I wear.

Everything i do to my hair is easy, low maintenance and pretty health - I know it's health because I bleached my hair a year ago, touched the bleach up at my scalp in August, and dyed the top of my head pink and blue.

This may or may not work for you, but I suspect that with you having dandruff, your issues are similar to mine and you produce more oil on your scalp than you realize.

---

Edit: Added link

Edit 2: Apparently TJ's have changed their formula, which I didn't know. The bottle of aloe vera I have is different and unscented; I'm not sure if you can still find it because I haven't actually looked for it :(

The castor and grapeseed I bought at whole foods, those same brands. They have a ton of oils. Then I cleanse with cerave foaming:

And just regular Nivea cream, the kind that comes in a tin. They also have big tubs of it:

Hope this helps! You can buy all of the products at whole foods and target.

Also! I'm not sure if the rest of my routine is something everyone would agree with. It's very barebones, and I know some people prefer incorporating more steps and using other products. I just use those because I haven't been able to find anything else that I like that also doesn't breaks me out.

I did it too, with exactly the same results as u/flowers3459. Literally same. She includes a TON of backup info (a 10 page tailored to you and a 13 page of general). She explains what individual ingredients DO so now I'm a better label reader (already saved the price of the analysis).

One tip I picked up from her is that [capric/caprylic triglycerides] (https://www.amazon.com/Majestic-Pure-Fractionated-Coconut-Oil/dp/B00PMR3QF2) penetrate like coconut oil but are much lighter, won't stain, smells lighter, easier to use. Great on hair AND skin.

EDIT: Ok, well I'm stupid. [This link] (https://www.truthinaging.com/ingredients/capryliccapric-triglycerides) explains that I was wrong about the fractionated coconut oil being what she was referring to in my analysis. I still like it though.

u/whirlpool4 · 5 pointsr/eczema

agree on the gentle exfoliation -- just enough to slough off the scarred areas, but not irritate the skin the point that it flares up again

definitely use a lot of oils -- I've heard BioOil and coconut oil are the best (they work for stretch marks, so I'm sure they can work for any kind of scarring)

Its a mixture of different oils, but most importantly for psoriasis it contains vitamin E oil, lavender oil, and chamomile oil. There's facial primer, eyelash primer, lid primer, lip primer...I mostly use lid and facial primer--Urban Decay and Smashbox, respectively. And if you really want your makeup to stay without budging, you can spray your face with a makeup setting spray (Urban Decay makes a good one). Hope this helps!

Squalane oil is something that our skin produces and makes up 13% of your natural sebum.

Since your sebaceous glands are under performing , this will help to regulate follicle construction and stop keratin from clumping around the follicles:
https://www.amazon.com/Squalane-100-Pure-60-mL/dp/B003MJG19K?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_1

Jojoba oil is actually a liquid wax ester that mimics sebum. For the same reasons as I stated above, this will help your KP and prevent TEWL which makes your KP worse.
https://www.amazon.com/Solutions-Organic-Moisturizing-Multi-Purpose-4-Ounce/dp/B0019LTGOU/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=jojoba+oil&qid=1574915492&sprefix=jojoba+&sr=8-4

Since you already have AMlactin, you are good there. Here is my favorite BHA acid Body scrub.
https://www.amazon.com/Neutrogena-Oil-Free-Salicylic-Treatment-Acne-Prone/dp/B00JZ069ME/ref=mp_s_a_1_13?keywords=neutrogena+body+clear+body+wash&qid=1574915526&sprefix=neutrogena+bod&sr=8-13

And these shower gloves for exfoliation are the best I’ve tried. They don’t require too much pressure and they de-cap existing keratin plugs effectively:
https://www.amazon.com/Clean-Logic-Exfoliating-Bath-Gloves/dp/B00GMP5VW4/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=cleanlogic+gloves&qid=1574915581&sprefix=clean+logic+glov&sr=8-3

Which AMlactin are you using? The one with the green pump?

Also, do you need me to go over the routine with you or do you think you got it from here based off my original post?

I've tried a lot of commercial beard oils, but in the end, I found them way too expensive to buy regularly. I don't want to pay $20 for 2 ounces of something that costs $1/oz when I mix it myself.

That said, I've also tried a lot of different types of base oils and recipe mixes. Coconut's great, but in time I got really sick of the coconut smell just under my nose. Eventually I found myself using just sweet almond oil by itself. It smells great (and doesn't pall over time), and has a good feel to it (somewhere between the tackiness of grapeseed and the slickness of jojoba--just right).

After oiling, I rub a bit of shea butter into my palms and rub that into my beard. Seems to be all the balm I need. For scent, I splash a dab of cologne into my palms and wipe my beard with that. Simple, but it works for me.

My advice — once a month, massage castor oil onto your scalp and concentrate on the areas that are thin (it will strengthen your hair and encourage growth). I’d leave it in for about an hour. It’s thick stuff. do follow it up with a clarifying shampoo to remove any residue. On the other days, use a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner. I’m a big fan of garnier fructis whole blends.

As far as the frizziness, I’d brush my hair into a high bun while it’s still slightly damp. Use Bobby pins to secure it in place so you won’t have indentations of a hair tie. When it’s dry, shake it out and you should have more volume. If you do happen to fall asleep on it, I would suggest getting silk pillow cases to prevent any more frizz.

Fractionated Coconut Oil is a common base for massage therapists. It's neutral, stays liquid at room temps. Usually people will add bees wax, or other thicker parts.

Regular coconut oil--the kind that's a solid at room temp, but melts at like 90F--works great, too. If you want more of a balm.

I don't know the science on decarbing with CBD. But you'll want to heat any mixture before you steep the plant in the oil. So just do a long steep. And don't get above the smoke point of whatever your base is (so, use a slow-cooker or double-boiler setup, not a frying pan).

I bought the different oils separately and put it in an amber dropper bottle. I mixed the argan oil, jojoba oil, and lemongrass oil in a 20:20:1 ratio. The lemongrass is more of just a scent than a functional oil (it's very strong), so you might replace it with some other aromatic oil like tea tree, eucalyptus, or cinnamon oil depending on your SOs preference. I hope you and your SO like it! You might google around for other recipes, but argan and jojoba will make up the bulk of most recipes.

edit: and this is the brush I got, it works great

I've tried Hydromax and it was alright. Though everything I've read is that GMS and hydromax are just powdered glycerine. So I switched to taking 10g vegetable glycerine and really like it. Seems to help with pump and energy a little, it's sweet, and it's a lot cheaper

u/malenkylizards · 6 pointsr/Showerthoughts

What I use is a mix of refractionated coconut oil, vitamin E oil (you can get it at the dollar store mad cheap), and a couple of drops of other stuff to make it smell nice for the ladies (I don't remember what, but I think grapefruit oil, lemon balm oil, and tea tree oil mighta been it...whatever, that's based on your own tastes anyway). About two parts coconut to 1 part vitamin E, and three drops of less of the other stuff for a 2 oz bottle. I mixed it up like six months ago and there's more than half left so...It goes a while.

I didn't buy all the essential oils, that shit's expensive. A hippie friend spared a few drops for me.

It depends on how long you've had them, the amount of progress can be made to reduce the appearance. If you've had them for a short period of time you should get a Micro needle Roller measuring at 1.5mm in length and use it with Bio-Oil. Now even if you've had stretch marks for a long while this method will still work, but it is far more effective the younger the Stretch Marks. Now what this will do is DRASTICALLY reduce the appearance of the stretch marks, It won't completely eliminate them though. I use it every 3 days and I can tell you it's probably the best thing I've ever used. I used to be really overweight.

Yes, this is a common problem. Regular cleaning eliminates this problem for me, but if cleaning it doesn't help, try using some lubricant. Vegetable glycerine works great, and is the same as what's in the lubricant that Ploom offers. Just apply a drop of that to the mouthpiece stem and click it up and down a few times, and that should take care of your problem. Don't forget to still clean it regularly, though!

u/meowmix435 · 7 pointsr/TwoXChromosomes

Scar cream/treatments are so expensive. Mederma is okay. My doctor said that massaging the cream in is the most important part, as it works to break up the scar tissue. I've also heard Bio-Oil is really great.

u/Malletguy22 · 2 pointsr/CrohnsDisease

You could try this and it should help with some of the redness. I used it on a scar on my forehead for a few weeks before I realized that I was too oily (for my acne) and gave up.
Hopefully you'll receive better results!

u/adult_angst · 3 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Ok good! Cetaphil actually did not work for me, it broke me out a lot and my skin was dry. Check out different moisturizers you could use on here! But be sure to patch test everything!

You could just use something like this. It's what I use. But do note that jojoba oil can be slightly comodogenic so patch test this as well!

u/yvva · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

LOL!

You can use that laxative one for a shaving oil--it works pretty well actually. I didn't know what to do with my bottle--hated it bc of consistency--so I've started shaving with it/applying it after I get out of the shower on my legs. Can't let things go to waste!

This from iHerb is $4 and pure/unfragranced. Or it's $5 from Amazon-but it looks like it's an add-on. Or Snow River Wood Oil off Amazon is like $7--and since MO doubles as cutting board oil, you could use it for your wood cutting board if for the face/body is a fail. : P

u/ErrantWhimsy · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I had no idea cold cream could do that. I just looked up mineral oil on Amazon and it gave me "butcher block conditioner" for most of the results. This is the closest I could find, does that look right?

All I wear for foundation right now is Rimmel's Stay Matte powder. I'm trying to be nicer to my skin and not clog my pores like crazy, but I don't appear to be achieving that.

Thanks for going through all of your causes! I did just get a new shampoo as well. Hm. (Can you tell I got a new job that gives me enough breathing room to get pampering things?)

Lanolin is the best ingredient for chapped lips. You don’t need fancy expensive lip products to make them smoother.

Lansinoh Lanolin Nipple Cream is very popular for lips. It is originally used for chafed nipples but who cares? The tube is convenient for on the go and it’s less than $9.

I opted for a jar of pure Lanolin since you get 7oz for the same price. I just transfer it in little mini jars for convenience.

At night, put a warm wash cloth over the lips for a minute or so to loosen the skin, rub it gently with the cloth. If it hurts STOP! Then slather on Lanolin before bed, it is very sticky so you need to get used to the feeling.

For maintenance, I mixed some Lanolin with Vaseline and use it as an everyday balm.

u/EClaris · 2 pointsr/wicked_edge

u/Kitten_Wizard · 8 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

After I do OCM, using a microfiber cloth to remove the oil, I go into the shower with said microfiber cloth. I shampoo, condition, and then using the microfiber cloth put a pump of Neutrogena Ultra Gentle hydrating cleanser into the corner and just use that single part to spread it around my face in light and gentle circular motions then rinse. I finish in the shower and lightly tap my face and body dry, getting my body and hair just dry enough so it doesn't drip all over the place.

I take 3 parts mineral oil and 1 part castor oil and use that to moisturizer my face right out of the shower. I put an eraser head sized amount of the castor oil it in my palm and then take the mineral oil and put about three-four times that amount with the castor oil using my finger. I then use what's on that finger and try to push it all around that hand so that a small amount is on my fingers which I use to transfer a small amount onto my face, being careful not to put too much — I don't want my face shiny or even dewy looking, just enough to make it feel silky. If I need more oil I dab my palm and just keep spreading it between fingers one handed and spread on face. After that I take both hands and spread the oil in both hands and work the oil into my scalp in areas that my hair in thinning and work it into all my hair. Rarely does it come out to too much oil in my hair and often is too little so I mix some more in my palm and use more. If too much just using my towel I run it through my hair a couple passes. My hair is real silky now and it's so much better not looking like wirey pubes anymore lol. I finish my routine with the Stridex wipes on my face. The Salicylic Acid is fat soluble so I feel like it helps to get it into the skin better.

I got no idea if my routine is good but it's working so far with significantly less zits, blackheads, and closed comedones then before.

u/redditiem · 3 pointsr/wicked_edge

I rinse every pass and apply pure glycerin before every lather. I love this method. I have found it less drying than MR GLO.

Bio-Oil saved my life when I was getting a lot of stretch marks from losing weight. If you don't mind adding it to your daily routine it'll definitely lessen the appearance of stretch marks. I would recommend adding an oil to your nighttime routine!

Most health food stores will carry food-grade oils like this, or you can get an oil blend as a skincare product like this!

Some ideas of oils that work for dry skin: almond seed oil, passion fruit oil, jojoba oil, hemp seed oil

Could also patch test and try: coconut oil, olive oil

I use Rosehip Seed Oil and it does the trick but I have oily skin. I also only use it every once in awhile when I feel like I need it! It doesn't smell like roses or anything (sadly) ;D

u/LizMEF · 1 pointr/fountainpens

You could try adding the teeniest tiniest bit of glycerine to a sample of the ink (not the bottle, in case you use too much). A tiny amount on the tip of a toothpick is enough to start.

I bought this (just so you know what we're talking about): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0019LWU2K/

Some people recommend liquid dish soap, but you'd want it to be clear, and the chemical makeup of those can vary, so I personally wouldn't use that, but you can try if you want.

u/Tardis666 · 7 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

There’s more kinds on there, but you can get a 7 Oz jar for the same price as that tube. I also think it works better if you put some lip balm on let it soak in a couple minutes then put lanolin on.

I recently got my first wool cover. Lanolizing it was tough -- I got big greasy splotches at first that I had to wash/massage out, then re-lanolize the whole thing. This is the lanolin I have... I'm a cheap-ass but if it emulsifies better with the water, liquid lanolin might actually be worth the extra $$!

The third time she was wearing it, she got poop all over it -.- You're supposed to be able to go 2-3 weeks without washing! And it's still not quite lanolized properly. I'm too lazy for wool, I think. I might wait to use it until she can wear her fitted diapers and she's got more solid poos that don't get on the cover so easily!

u/iownakeytar · 5 pointsr/Naturalhair

You can DIY it pretty inexpensively. All you need is 4 parts distilled water, 1 part vegetable glycerin and a few drops of the essential oils of your choice. I also like to add a little of my conditioner to the mix.

u/Advanced_Selection · 1 pointr/tressless

Thanks. If I were tight on funds and time, I'd probably narrow it down to these three.

NatureWise Vitamin D3 5,000 IU 2x a day in the morning.

Now Supplements Glycine 1000mg Between 1-6 grams per day, depending on your stress levels. Probably best used before bed.

NOW Solutions, Castor Oil 1 tbsp per day (5 mL)

As I learn more about Glycine, I'm starting to think it may have been the difference maker. It's relieved chronic stress that I was stuck under the past few years.

I'd also reccomend avoiding strict, low-calorie diets. Don't avoid or cut out carbs.

Just [decarboxylate] (https://wakeandbake.co/decarboxylating-cannabis-to-activate-thc/) some concentrate, you can use a strain like good medicine or something similar that is high in CBD. Use a double boiler [like this] (https://www.rachaelraymag.com/faves/technique-how-to-diy-double-boiler), you put the concentrate into it, let it heat up to 280 degrees and no warmer for about 5-10 minutes, then add your base.

You can use food grade glycerin, or ethyl alcohol. Either will work as a base. So measure your base, if you have [100 ml] (https://www.premiumvials.com/1-oz-amber-boston-round-glass-bottle-w-glass-dropper-as-low-as-0-39/?gclid=CjwKCAjw-bLVBRBMEiwAmKSB86N5d4BQTiNltiaiS9YTFsjxRVrc_JxV4ug0J5NwT-rFsZobpd2PexoCTa4QAvD_BwE) of [glycerin] (https://www.amazon.com/Vegetable-Glycerine-Kosher-99-7-Pure/dp/B000RT9JGK?th=1) or [alcohol] (https://www.crownwineandspirits.com/stolichnaya-100-proof-vodka-750ml/), do the math based on the potency chart on the back of your concentrates package.

So if your concentrates are rated for example, at 23% THCa 0%THC 30% CBD then for 1 gram you would end up with a dosage (after decarboxylation) of around 1.9-2.0 mg of THC per ml and 3mg of CBD per ml of Tincture. (THCa is converted to THC by decarboxylation, making it biologically available)

I've been using vegetable glycerin for awhile now. The first bottle I got was pretty small. It said it could also be used as a sweetener, which I never used it for that. But I noticed when it accidentally got on my lips it tasted rather sweet. I ran out. Bought a new bottle, from a different brand. It seems like this vegetable glycerin isn't sweet at all and seems to not.. work as well/not seem as sticky? Does that sound crazy? What gives?

I can make enough juice with a 1/4 to last me quite a while, a lot longer than straight herb will last me and I can control the amount in each batch more closely to desired results. If I wanted to I could make some crazy one hitter quitter juice or I can make some slow sipping, you just regulate the amount of VG you use in the process and how much dilution with PG to get desired results.

A gallon of VG is like $19 on Amazon to your door, PG is a little more but this will be enough to last you several batches, probably at least a years worth of juice making. Only other investment is a crock pot, mason jars and maybe a strainer or cheese cloth which is a negligible investment.

Edit VG 35 a gallon (not a promotion just example)

You can seriously use any glass bottle with a narrow opening, 25 drops of any essential oil from Whole Foods or any health food store/stores that sell tarot cards and witchy shit (or online, like this on amazon), 1/4 cup of a carrier oil like sweet almond oil or safflower oil, and throw that in your glass bottle with some bamboo skewers. Then you have a reed diffuser and tons of refills, and you can mix essential oils for whatever scent you want.

I bought this brand on Amazon. It's the cheapest I could find and I'm insanely happy with it. Regardless of which brand you buy, make sure it's 100 percent pure lanolin oil and not some combination of lanolin and other oils. Lanolin won't clog pores, but combinations of it might.

Of course!

It goes up and down in price, so keep an eye on it (it's on the high side right now). :)

$40 for a gallon seems pretty cheap to me

u/whynotbunberg · 2 pointsr/AugustBumpers2017

Boobs are my most notable symptom (besides maybe exhaustion) right now. My friend sent me Bio Oil minutes after I told her I'm pregnant, so I've been liberally applying to boobs, and a bit to belly and upper thighs because I guess it's never to soon to moisturize. Here's a link for Bio Oil: Bio-Oil 4.2oz: Multiuse Skincare Oil https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004AI97MA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_I98BybVEWW26H

They're pretty boring. I'll dip the cotton sheet mask in freshly made green tea. I buy the tea leaves from Mountain Rose Herbs. I really have no idea if the antioxidants from green tea are getting to my skin using this method...but my skin does feel hydrated and calm after doing this.

Sometimes I'll mix in glycerin with the green tea. Mixing glycerin with distilled water is hydrating as well.

I know a lot of people use Hado Labo Gokujun Lotion with these masks.

This thread has a lot of ideas!

For me, I patch test where I usually break out which is along my jawline and on my chin. As I haven't got any active acne on my chin (bang in the middle right now!) I've been patch testing there, as I'll definitely be able to tell if something does cause an issue.

Mineral oil doesn't cause pore clogging for many people, but it can. I recommend starting out with that. If your skin isn't sensitive to fragrance you can use baby oil. [oops just saw you are sensitive to fragance.. so am I, skin twin!] Do patch test though, you should patch test everything to avoid issues in the future (I learned this the hard way!!)

Remember that you can use your clinique cleanser if you double cleanse and wash the oil off your face as it's recommended to use a foaming cleanser to make sure it all comes off!

I use Africare mineral oil http://www.amazon.com/Africare-100-Mineral-Oil-8-5/dp/B003CTG0W8 but I think a lot of people find pure unfragranced mineral oil in hardware stores for oiling cutting boards? Just make sure mineral oil is the only ingredient if you do go with it.

Afterthought

Just re-reading your post, my acne cleared but I was left with CRAZY closed comedones everywhere. I can't recommend the Paula's Choice 10% weekly resurfacing liquid enough. They are clearing so quickly!

You need a binder to add to your shadow and alcohol mix. Glycerine is the easiest to get and commonly used: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0019LWU2K?cache=98e7ccb6202f0fafb25f32106805d086&pi=SY200_QL40&qid=1410577124&sr=8-1#ref=mp_s_a_1_1

You may need to play with how much you need in your shadow, usually one to two drops. If one isn't enough, you can break it apart again and add another drop. And press it again.

u/sparkleysparkles · 3 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

This is the oil I'm using. If you aren't sensitive to fragrance you could also use baby oil. I get my face a little damp with water and then apply the oil gently, rubbing in small circles for a minute or so. Then I wipe it off with a few cotton balls (2-3) and cleanse with my Cerave foaming cleanser. Follow with a toner to make sure there is no leftover oil/soap/makeup/dirt.

If you live in the US, you can get a sizeable tub on Amazon for $10. That's the kind that smells like a sheep, which I don't mind, but I guess there are kinds made not to smell like a sheep. Lanolin is the only thing that keeps my lips from being too dry, as well. I keep some in a little pillbox and use it throughout the day

u/PimpinNinja · 1 pointr/DIY_eJuice

I've used Froggys fog for years and am very satisfied with the quality. They also provide MSDS on request.

u/mmmmmmmmmeh · 2 pointsr/electronic_cigarette

You can get it for cheaper on Amazon, much cheaper, less than 50 bucks for 3800mL from a few different places on Amazon!

I spent less than 100 bucks and now I have a gallon of 7.2mg VG sitting in my closet (I mixed it 1 part 36mg VG with 4 parts VG to make 7.2mg, so I can mix the 7.2 with 1 part flavor and 5 parts 7.2mg VG and it'll be sitting right at 6mg!)

like this? It was the first option that google came up with.

Which one are you using?

u/unsaltednuts · 1 pointr/MakeupAddicts

I'm on a low buy for a while, so I've been focusing more on skincare than on makeup:

  • Queen Helene Mint Julep face mask

  • Freeman Avocado clay face mask

  • Stridex x 2

  • Pura D'or Argan Oil

  • Josie Maran Argan Oil Collection Why I bought this after buying the Pura D'or argan oil... I have no idea. But, this is a great deal for anyone wanting to try Josie Maran products since you're saving $60+ off MSRP... qvc just makes things so hard to pass up.

  • Milani Baked Blush in Berry Amore - a bit too dark for me at this time, maybe it'll look better in the summer.
u/ISwearImAGirl · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

I'm basically just trying to figure out if I should get [this] (http://www.amazon.com/Foods-Sweet-Almond-Moisturizing-ounce/dp/B0019LVFSU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1382999070&sr=8-1&keywords=sweet+almond+oil) or the cold-pressed from GoW. I'm leaning toward the GoW because it's guaranteed to be good quality and pure. I'm also not sure if the cheaper stuff is unrefined (I want unrefined oil)

u/gleeXanadu · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

As far as anti-aging oils go rose hip oil seems to be popular. You can try this one that has added antioxidants. Your local Whole Foods may carry it.

u/ZeeBail · 2 pointsr/AsianBeauty

I use Trilogy Rosehip Oil and have been very satisfied. I use 4 drops at night, and at this rate the bottle will go bad before I use it all up, so $24 for 12 months use seems pretty reasonable.

u/Kaspurtheghost · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Straight lanolin with either aquaphor or cerave healing ointment on top healed my cracked peeling lips this past winter (I’m a picker too and this completely fixed it)

For an actual balm Nivea moisture + Vaseline lip therapy over (the tin aloe is my favorite)

u/Marisyn · 2 pointsr/AsianBeauty

You might be interested in pure argan oil. I use Pura d'or argan oil when my face/hands/hair are extra dry. It's unscented (and 1-2 drops is plenty or you'll end up greasy).

u/LikesGreenTea · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

You're right, I shouldn't have recommended a HA toner to you.

Why don't you try 100% glycerine? Just pat a few drops onto wet skin, and you'll be good to go!

u/InigoMontoyaIsNotMe · 1 pointr/loseit

I've heard that Bio Oil helps to fade them. My cousin used it during her pregnancy and she barely has any visible stretch marks.

u/AlaskanFeesh · 3 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

So I'm in the same boat as you (except in the US) and I picked up this body oil last week and I've been liking it so far. I use it in the shower just before rinsing the conditioner from my hair, and it's sunk in by the time I towel off. A little goes a long way!

I have two body oils from Hexannacht, too, but they're perfumed so I don't wear them on days when I want to wear another scent. They're similarly moisturuzing, if a little heavier.

u/bennytehcat · 12 pointsr/homemaking

You can use fractionated coconut oil. It doesn't solidify and washes away cleanly.

Something like this for instance.

u/IRISistable · 8 pointsr/AskWomen

Primer! That shits amazing. Put it on before eyeshadow and that shit will not move. I have literally woken up with perfect eyeshadow when I used that and didn't take it off when I went to sleep.

here is my favorite

And setting spray. I am not too well versed in that. I don't use foundation or powder so I don't really need it, but the urban decay one is supposed to be really good.

here is that one

u/valentinedoux · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

I know that most powders have to dissolve in water. I wouldn't mix it with moisturizers or eye creams because it won't dissolve in creams.

I just googled and found some DIY recipes:

u/philofetish · 2 pointsr/DIY_eJuice

Depending on how much you are buying, you might want to get it directly from the manufacturer. 1 gallon Froggy's Frog on amazon is 39.99 (prime), whereas 2 gallons directly from Essential Depot is 49.95 (free shipping)

u/MusedeMented · 2 pointsr/popping

Are you in the States? Amazon, if so. Boots in the UK. Any chemist in Australia. Not sure about elsewhere!!

(i also just sent this:)

PS. I have done a bit more research, and I feel more confident believing that this is a faulty batch than that your company has been dishonest. It seems you have an item that is cocoa butter oil -- is it possible for there to have been a mass mislabeling and the labels for the two products were switched? Several people have had the same experience:

http://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/comments/2i50kh/hellp_my_second_time_ordering_the_100_mineral_oil/

http://www.amazon.com/Africare-100-Mineral-Oil-8-5/product-reviews/B003CTG0W8

For me, the worst case scenario is a horrible break out, but there might be more grave consequences for those who have an allergy. Please take care of this as soon as possible and keep me updated when the problem is resolved so I know when it's safe to order this product again.

u/adriel208 · 1 pointr/electronic_cigarette

With the subtank mini you can just take 1ml of a regular juice and 9ml of vg and it works out. you can get 1000ml of good vg for about $10. and 1G of cheap VG for $10-15. Personally I can't take the high flavor juices in that much vapor, I have to water it down somehow, but it could just be me.

If you want to try it you could risk 1ml of any juice and get the vg from amazon.
