I have a similar setup for VR, 3xMFD+UFC, it works great, takes a little time to build up the muscle memory, but within a few hours it'll feel quite natural for you. Your setup looks great, I made one of the UFCs mentioned elsewhere in this thread, you will definitely love that upgrade when you do it.


Tip: get some bump dot stickers and place them strategically on your MFDs/UFC. I put big dots on the center button on all 4 sides of my MFDs so I can quicklytell which is the center button, and then small dots on button 1 and 5 on each side. You need to learn how to use a white mobility cane. I'd recommend one with a roller tip that rolls on the ground so that you can detect dropoffs when you come to them, like curbs or stairs. Try to find a blind mobility teacher to teach you how to cross streets properly. Putting little sticker bumps on things that you need to use precisely. Lots of buttons on the microwave? Put a bump on the +1 minute and reset time. How do you set a stove burner to 4? Figure out your bus routes now. You'll be using a lot of public transportation. You have to know by heart how to get to the store, pharmacy, bank, barber, post office all by yourself.

NVDA is a software that speaks everything on the screen. Very useful when magnifier doesn't do the trick anymore.

Start folding your money now. At a certain point, you won't be able to tell the difference. I don't know if Egypt uses blind-friendly money. 1's stay unfolded. 5's fold in half the long way. 10's fold one corner. 20's fold in half the short way. 100's fold both corners. etc..

Don't let the fear overwhelm you. It gets easier with time.

I just purchased Braille for the Sighted - Beginning Braille and it came as two copies. One that’s printed like an instructional book, and another copy written entirely in Braille.

Quick blind GM story. I think it was 2 PAX Primes ago, we were playing D&D NEXT beta and the convention obviously supplies it's own DMs from WOTC. We were playing these little like 1hr 1-shots. Our DM we quickly realized was blind. He had a device attached to his laptop that spits out braile (example). We were also playing with minis on a grid and he didn't have much issue moving the mini's around and whatnot by feel, he did have to ask us to make sure things were setup correctly, but he was a very, very capable DM in my opinion.

Yeah, currently the way braile is implemented on keyboards is via adhesive pads with braile on them. Haven't found any keycaps with braile built in.

So I just ordered sticky braile pads for keyboards on Amazon...let's see how this goes

I used stick-on dots when I was gaming. Like these.

Edit: removed the word Braille. Those aren't Braille, they're just tactile. We had Braille Dymo labels on everything else though.

Note: I'm not sure how much this affects the touchpad since I hardly use it.

I used a Braille slate and stylus to emboss my seeds on index cards. No need to worry about fading or smudging, and the raised dots can't really be pushed down again without a lot of effort. An index card has just enough space to capture a 24 word seed (you only need the first four letters of each word because of the BIP39 spec).
