This option is pretty pricey, but since you didn't list a budget, this is (in my opinion) the bar-none best desk money can buy. I have one and almost one year later I'm still freaking in love with the thing. It's built to last and I don't see myself ever getting rid of it (unless I move someplace where it doesn't fit, but then again, I probably wouldn't move to a place where it wouldn't fit :) )

I would DEFINITELY move your TV away from the window because it is blocking so much of that lovely light! Look at the shadows it's making on the wall... it'd be a shame to leave it there. But get what you're saying about glare from the window. Any chance that you could mount the TV on the wall? The TV stand could still go underneath it, but you can get cable tidies to hide the cables. Get a nice picture frame or vintage vase/pot or something to sit on the glass TV stand (with the TV mounted above) will draw people's attention away from cables etc anyway.

There was another post on this subreddit today by somebody who had made a cool desk out of IKEA products: https://www.reddit.com/r/InteriorDesign/comments/80qy8v/ideas_for_office_carpet_and_complete_room. Notice how they've used 2x of the little shelving units and a piece of wood. If you don't want to buy the individual drawer units then IKEA do super cheap legs that you can just screw into a piece of wood. You could get the wood cut easily at any DIY place, or Home Depot or whatever. The beauty of this is that you can get it to fit your space perfectly and maximise the room available.

I agree your furniture isn't the most exciting but that's fine - we've all had free furniture! An easy cheap way to improve them is to cover it with a nice throw. Something like this would be simple and much more attractive:

Here's the kind of performance you can expect in many games.

But that was going with as cheap as possible as per your preference, we can increase performance and generally add a lot until up to $1000:

- Swap the RX 580 for a GTX 1660. Now the performance nearly matches the $999 prebuilt.

- Change the SSD to a much faster 512GB NVMe SSD. (Perfromance gains are not noticeable over a regular SATA SSD like the one in this build and in these prebuilts, just a neat technology that's not much more expensive, maybe an extra $15 or so). You mentioned large HDD and SSD, but said you wouldn't go past 500GB, but well, in any case a 2TB HDD of the same model (Seagate Barracuda) can be bought for not much more.

It's not mentioned too often here, but the quality of documentation on the battlestations makes a world of difference. Beyond the slick setup, great presentation. The video is awesome.

Your gear is stellar for your needs, it's clear that the layout and hardware selection is doing you well. Would love to see more character around the space. Definitely a new chair. Regarding lamps, maybe give something like this a try. Strip LED's may be a nice touch along the back of the desk, but the laptop stand/PS4 obstruct just enough of the lighting to make it not worth doing.

I'd also be careful with temperature in the cabinet. Something to think about.

Finally, you can improve that already pretty good cable management with a black fiber cable wrap like this one (25 ft is more than you need but you get the point).

If you're just gaming, there's not much of a need for 12 cores. Even 8 cores is overkill for the majority of games but at this budget, it's worth it as some high profile triple A games are making some use of up to 8 cores.

Drop the 32GB of RAM. If you ever need that much in the future, it's easy enough to slot another 16GB kit in. Currently, most games don't even go above 10 - 11 GB of RAM usage so I'd wager that 16GB would pull you through until your next big upgrade.

The 970 Evo is overpriced in most use cases. A Sabrent Rocket will give you 99.9% of the same experience for significantly less money.

With the money saved, if you're looking to future-proof, the best way to do so is to grab the best consumer GPU on the market.

The case is really up to you as it's more personal preference at this budget. However, I will recommend the 460X over the 570X as it has a metal panel over a glass panel on the right side of the case. Reason being is that seeing your cables on the back isn't going to be the nicest feature of your computer and you might as well get the 460X which hides this whilst retaining the tempered glass on the front and left side of the case.

One last thing I can recommend is to get some cable combs to neaten up your PSU cables. A few items that will help with cable management:

• Cable Sleeve - simple, effective, and easy to use, but also requires some forethought to not end up with a cable snake. Since the material is soft it can be cut to length and used to go around corners. Also great protection from small pets.
  
  
• Double sided tape - Easy to use, and has a really good hold. Best use is for mounting your power strip. Down side is that it will most likely cause paint damage if it's ever removed.
  
  
• Cable Clips - great for directing the flow of wires. Simple to use, and hold quite well. Used with the cable sleeve, you can keep the wire snake at bay (cut a hole in the sleeve and poke the clip through while mounting to the wall or desk). Similarly with the double sided tape, you may have damage if you try to remove them.
  
  
• Velcro Straps - these have good length on them for help keeping multiple wires tightly grouped. The pack also comes with a good amount of them, in grey and black. The help keep the cable snake from bulging.
  
  

Don't let this hooligans fool ya. LED's are awesome, more screens the better. I'm not sure if you use that box as a foot stool but if not you should move it so you have room for your feet.

2. Again as someone else said move that one speaker to the correct side. However, you don't need to discard a monitor for that. Just put it behind where the monitors meet. So long as the speaker isn't covered too much it shouldn't hinder sound coming out of it. Heck, if you wanted you could lay the speaker on its side. I'm not much of an audiophile and don't have those speakers so your mileage may vary. Are those speakers hooked up to a stereo, computer, or maybe a DAC? If it's a DAC then you could easily mount that to the underside of the desk with some double sided tape or Velcro tape. I prefer Velcro tape myself.
   
   
   
3. Once more, as someone said mount those headphone somewhere when you're not using them. Seems you have space to the left of your desk for that. If you like using that space yourself then you could just mount a holder on the underside of your desk. They're super cheap on Amazon, and anything like this will work fine.
   
   
   
4. It's hard to see how much cable clutter you have. Best thing you can do is bundle as many cables together as possible. A good way to do this is with veclro ties. The more peripherals you get the more cables you have. Some will have their own power bricks and some will have cable length as if you were supposed to use the thing in another room. To deter this I would recommend cable trays to mount to the bottom of the desk. One other thing that can help for cable management is a cable sleeve which is helpful for tiding up those cables as they go to your PC.
   
   
   
5. Basically mount anything and everything you can to the bottom of your desk to hide as much as possible from view.

After testing the tuna can and finding it to be IMMENSELY more comfortable, I continued to play with the tuna strapped on until my power bank arrived today. Now I have the real setup!

I'll just mention stuff I've tried myself.

If money is no object, multiple monitors or at least headless ghosts are ironically useful in virtual desktop applications like Bigscreen. I run 3x2560x1600 in one large screen. Bigscreen has an update coming for multiple monitors too. Big physical screens are nice for spectators/multiplayer.

Until the wireless adapter comes out, a decently long displayport cable and longer USB cable running to the link box to cover the large play area and if you have an original Vive, the new 3-in-1 cable with a sleeve.

) but I haven't actually tried it yet.

Two Vives would be good, you can run them off the same 2 base stations and partition the space with chaperone. I run a Rift and a Vive in the same room.

Get an assistant/intern/wife/child to help you set up/put things away, maintain everything, patch/update, find new content, etc...

Sorry I missed you earlier, here's what I used to get the tower discretely away in the corner and set up the triple monitor setup:

• 10' 3.5mm to RCA cable (your extension cord may need to vary depending on what you use for speakers)
  
  
• 4x usb M/F extension cord 10' (These are for plugging in my keyboard, mouse, phone connection, and a spare for usb sticks without having to plug into the tower)
  
  
• 3x hdmi cable 10' (for plugging in the monitors, be sure to check your connection options as your graphics card / cards may need a different connection)
  
  
• Vivo Triple Monitor Mount ( This is the trickiest part. For me to mount 3 heavy 27" BenQ monitors, this was a relatively inexpensive option. The stand is well built, and looks and moves well, but the weight of the monitors is difficult to mount without any sagging. Also, 27" is the absolute max size this mount will work for, and even then my viewing angles are a bit lacking. I would recommend Locktek's EXCELLENT mounts for neutralizing this issue, but they are vastly more expensive. Weight wont be an issue though. For me, the issue was not a big deal so I didn't splurge on a pricier mount.
  
  
• Cable management sleeve (so that you can tuck away all those cords neatly)
  
  After that, you can have all peripherals at your fingertips and tuck the tower away into a corner. If your space is carpeted (and even if its not), be sure to keep the tower slightly elevated off the ground to allow for good air circulation.
  
  Definitely not dogma but that's what I've been using, and it works well thus far. Be sure not to skimp on the length of your cords, when your hiding it it will need to snake around a bit under the desk.

Then for the sake of asthetics, I wrapped them both in this to keep the wires together when routing.

10 foot for each, which has worked for me, but 15 might give a bit more flexibility depending on the location of your PC. But part of the benefit of the hanging cables is that as long as your cable can reach diagonally to the opposite corner of your space, (front to back, left to right, and top to bottom. Diagonally in 3 dimensions), then it should be able to reach anywhere in your space. The stock Rift cable can reach diagonally across my space, and my extension cables are just getting my cable to its "start" position in the corner.

Keep in mind these cables don't have a ton of strength, so I recommend getting a hefty command strip hook to statically fix your wire near the ceiling to take a lot of the weight, then the hook cables can split the weight from there as it droops towards your head naturally.

This turned into a bit of a novel but I hope my "lessons learned" are helpful haha

Ideal data closet for me would be

• Solid wooden door with a hefty lock or access control and self closing/self locking mechanism
  
• Ladder Rack between server and network racks
  
• at least one plywood wall for mounting non-rack mountable equipment and all the random phone and ISP related nonsense.
  
• at least 3 electrical circuits that have their own breaker. (one for each redundant power supply to the server/battery backup in between and one for everything non-essential
  
• Mini-Split AC system (or two)
  
• Environmental monitoring
  
• Security camera(s)
  
• Not carpeted. I'd take polished cement over carpet, but tile is probably ideal.
  
• As many power ports as possible, or those really large power strips are great.

Hopefully someone else will have some good advice, but it sounds to me like he may have Pica. If it is Pica the best thing is to basically keep dangerous things away from him. I would also suggest dog toys, something like an xs or small Kong might be good (they are pretty high quality rubber). If he wants to chew cords you might try something like this. You might also get him some cat grass to give him something he chew up and eat without hurting himself.

Not sure about cable management in the case for but the desk...


I believe thats a malm desk so it has the rack in the back which means adding another won't be easy (really everything doesn't fit?). You could try using something like this or this with some 3m tape so you can mount the cables on the bottom of the desk so they aren't hanging. You could also wrap the cables to decrease the amount of slack using something like this. Any cables coming from the back of the monitors or the desk you can try using this. You could consider mounting your surge protector on the desk if it is not already so that no cables are dangling down to it and the only thing would be the surge protector wire.

Additional things you could look into would be a boom arm for the mic so its not sitting in the middle, might clean it up a bit. Also, if you are really dedicated to making it look nice and don't tend to rearrange that often, you could look into drilling holes for the wires for the keyboard/mouse (I'm personally not a fan of this method but people do it).

It might take a bit of cash to do ALL of that so maybe just prioritize what you think will give the best results.

I’ve yet to dig deep into my cable management bc school— but after looking into a lot of options, something like IKea signum rack and mounting my huge surge protector and KVM switch under desktop are looking like the best options.

As far as minimizing visible cable burden, I wouldn’t recommend those stretchy nylon/Velcro sleeves as they don’t keep the bundles of wrapped cables as tight as I’d like. These look like promising options:

You really gotta sit there and stare at it and think how you can hide everything, neatly and routed in a way thats easy to clean. Having my monitors wall mounted allowed me to use the brackets to hide the long monitor power cords and hdmi cables i was also able to mount a power strip behind there so it was easier to power things while hiding wires.

I bought a Vive Link Box to use as a signal/power booster in the middle, and it works great. This cured all my dropouts and audio glitches, as well as giving my system a Bluetooth radio.

This setup works great:

This is also how I work. A smidge more detail from my set up -- I have multiple "Cord Control Kits" (fancy name, it's just a plastic tube); cannot find these anymore other than eBay, so also use these sleeves.

I use the sleeves / kits are for my racked gears' power, audio, and MIDI, separately. (Keeping power and audio separately to avoid interference, and MIDI just for appearance.)

For my desk -- computer power cords, video cables, USB, Thunderbolt, &c -- these are routed as much as possible behind the desk and behind my keyboards, occasionally twist-tied or velcro-tied to the desk or keyboard stand legs. When there's a bit of a mess I'm a bit embarrassed to write, then hidden behind a cloth hanging behind the desk (so the cables are between the wall and the cloth).

Just as /u/wrongfulness writes, cables stay in place when I take gear to a gig; this is important to me, although having a double set of cables can get expensive, and then they themselves need to be managed. I have a cable wall (like this material, but not exactly; I can't find exact product image this minute), where I drape all my extra cables, grouped by type and (roughly) by length.

Set up can be a chore, including keeping from inter-weaving cables in the racks. At one point, frustration led to unplugging one end of most cables from the gear, then re-running it more carefully.

I'm afraid I rambled here, sorry, but wish you well with finding your own solution; I feel it is quite useful and satisfying to have solid cable management and ultimately worth the effort.

Edit: to add: my room is in a partial square shape. Desk, with racks to the left and keyboards to the right and behind (with space to get in the middle :) ). This means running MIDI and ADAT from keyboard to racks, for which I have one of these, and do not step on it. They do not work as well as I'd have liked ... I had to tape the bottom slit closed to keep cables from popping out. I dislike this across-the-floor solution, but couldn't see purchasing long enough cables to go around the perimeter. (For taping, because I wanted to not get sticky on the cables, I put painters tape along the slit, with the non-sticky side against the floor runner, sticky side facing up, and then used duct tape to do the main securing to hold the slitted area closed.)

I've never really seen the pegboard before honestly but it just came to me. I wouldn't recommend it though, it took a bunch of time and is only for someone who likes doing organization. As far as cable management tips:

1. My desk, the Alex from Ikea, actually has a compartment built in for cable management which is great.

3. And if you wanna just do basic cable management, I can't recommend THESE enough. They're cheap, reusable, and work great. You could also add a SLEEVE to keep the wires together.

Cable snake like this can be expensive and a pain to re-organize if you make changes to your set-up, but it really looks great. Plus there are places that sell customized colors.

Yeah, definitely! But I recommend something like this over one of these spiral ones. They don't cost much more and are easier to handle. Plus, they would allow the cables to move easily so you won't have that snagging problem(cable ties) with the charger and headphones.

I use pas 99% of the time. Based on my use, a thumb throttle to give some extra boost on a steep climb works perfect, when riding the throttle full time twist is probably better.

I did not have a gear sensor, but installed one after breaking my chain 3 times in a week. (I shift a lot)

For battery you can't go wrong with a shark pack with good Samsung/Panasonic cells.

I use the "52v Mini 3amp Advanced Charger with 3 Position Toggle" from Luna. It works fine, a bit noisy though.

On an old bike buy the brake levers with cutoff sensor built in.

If your shift cables are running in grooves under the bottom bracket instead of cable housing you will need to buy a new shift cable + housing.

What you (probably) need as well:

• Crank puller (Just buy it, a bbs02 kit is not install and forget it.)
  
• BB removal tool (depends on the type, you can have your bike shop do this.)
  
• Depending on the type of pedals you need a special narrow key to remove them.

this is what i went with for my headphones. they are absolutely amazing. then i popped a modmic onto them and used this for the wiring. best "gaming headset" ive ever had.

There is cheaper and more expensive options. but i really liked the aluminum frame, and open stage. its a sound like ive never had before. doesn't feel like my games audio are being injected into my ear, but more like im there.

Use a fabric wrapped cord. You can simply replace the cord with a new fabric one from someplace like this:

You can use a bit of electrical tape to add a nice clean end on the braided sleeving. I'm sure there are fabric versions somewhere that might look a little better.

I've been using a sleeve for cables that does a great job preventing this. It won't stop it forever, but it takes way more to get it tight and tangled. I can usually go through a play session of several hours without it bunching up on itself, then I just untangle what little bit is there when I'm done. This is the sleeve, and I secure it to the cables with these. It works beautifully.

I just got the ad500x, the cable is long, not the best but not NEARLY as bad as the complaints make it out to be. Im using mine with a modmic so I have TWO cables to deal with and I plan on sleeving them together. The modmic has a cable the same length which is good because they need to reach the back panel of my computer and I have a larger desk and like a little freedom to move around.

edit-fyi these replaced my steelseries siberia 800 (so wireless to terrible cable lol) and are much cleaner and the soundstage exists(I thought the atmos was working but its clearly limited in closed headphones). Overwatch and bf1 have much more directionality, I pushed a little more low end through them and they sound relatively neutral(flat).

I'm going to re-sand and finish my top here this winter. Think it's been about 2 years now. Driving a mouse without a pad has worn off the finish a little. I work from home so I use my desk everyday. I think it's always going to be an issue since they expand and contract at different rates. Mine is flush in the winter and a little proud in the summer but it's not a huge deal. You look like you used Claro walnut? so yours might work out different than mine.

Cords drive me nutters, you make this nice modern desk and then there is all this cord mess. The only think I might try since yours goes up and down?

For sure! I searched around online for the best cable management tools, and came up with this and this to help me out. You can see more on the product page about what they do, but the plug multi adapters were placed into those boxes to hide them and any extra long cords that I had. Most of the work was just making sure the cords were long enough and making sure they went to the right place. I got lucky only needing to have one sheath for all desk items and one for all nightstand items, due to correct cord length.

You can get what is called a cable sock. I've done this, it works pretty well, but the sock is a bit rough in texture. This is the exact sock I bought. It expands to allow the cables through. It fit the 3in1 plus a leap motion usb cable, so it will probably work for what you want. It is actually roomy once you get the plug ends through (you inch worm through the sock). This works much better than any sort of spaced along ties (I've also tried that).

Nice setup! One way you can fix the cables is buying cable sleeves so they all run through one place and stay in one place. A cable box to cover up the power strip would go nicely as well.

Next time, you could get a cover for your charger or any other electrical cords so that the puppers doesn't hurt itself AND your laptop can safely be charged. Something like this-- Someone I know does this to hers to keep from her cat and it works like a charm. Hope you get it figured out.

Okay, making a separate post for this. Apparently they do sell "critter cords" for phone chargers and such. Found this on Amazon, but shop around for that brand. Also, one of the reviews in that product said you can buy things like that at Lowe's so it might be worth looking there, too. Buns aren't as bad as rats, but it might deter him long enough to save your cords.

bundle them together in one thick sleeve. Having a fabric sleeve lie on your desk is imo better tham a lot of different wires :)

It's white or black (turn it inside out) and it's better than other sleeves imo because of the holes it has: you can let wires run in or out at any point you want, so it would be perfect for the cables from your mouse&kb, and you can let the sleeve run all the way to the top of your desktop, so the wires only exit the sleeve at the exact height they neet to be plugged in. Tuck away all the loose wire you have into the sleeve, and I think it'll be much tidier.

Heat shrink, why only pick one size?

If you're planning on using a lot of heat shrink it might be a good investment to get a heatgun, although a lighter works just fine.

A Helping Hand can be nice, but isn't needed.

You'll need to get a wire stripper or an x-acto knife and a careful hand. A hot glue gun is necessary IMO, it will protect and insulate your solder points as well as hold cables down IF you don't have zip ties. Also get zip ties. I made use of a wood file I had so I could smooth out some of the sharp carbon fiber edges on my frame, just don't breath in the fiber dust. I keep my quad in a backpack, my tool and extra parts are all in a box under my desk. Organization is not my strong suit.

20mm is close to 3/4". Techflex sells their sleeving closed, or opened like this. This stuff looks super clean and still allows you add/remove cables easily. If this will be a one time permanent install you can get their solid stuff and heat shrink the ends.

These are wonderful! While I don't use the ones in the post, (I use these, which are easily cut to size, cheaper, and imo better-looking), I absolutely love the tidiness that it has made the back of my computer desk!

There are few things more satisfying than seeing a single wire coming down from the back of the desk carrying all the usb cables, monitor cables, and power cables, that goes to the back of the computer and the power strip. Cable management was the one thing I never knew I needed in my life until these guys swooped in and brought me to heaven.

I am not a neat freak by any stretch of the imagination, but for some reason cable management strikes my fancy to the extent that I will willingly re-wire any of my friends' computer desks just to get the satisfaction of watching a terrifying hellscape of wires transformed into a single, pure, line.

Unfortunately I didn't find out that EK GPU and CPU blocks have similar enough flow rates that you can run them in parallel, otherwise I would have definitely considered that, I think parallel loops can look really great. But by the time I found out I'd already ordered all my parts and EK shipping is like minimum $20-30 per order even if you only add $5 of parts. Overseas shipping sucks.

Haven't used that particular brand, the stuff I have is from Best Buy and has a velcro closure along the split, but I can't find in on their site.

As Unisenon pointed out, Velcro straps are much better than zip ties, as you can add and remove cables easily. The only time I would use zip ties is when you know the two cables won't be separated. (The data and power cables for my USB hub for instance, they both go to the same spot, and I'm not going to be using one without the other.)

You should have n+1 litter boxes for the cats, where n is the number of cats. So ideally you should have 3 litter boxes in your situation.

Do they have elevated places to sit and survey the room(s)? There should ideally be one for each of your cats so territory wars don't ensue.

I just bought the Modmesh Pro RT series (for Seasonic PSU's) kit, so they are all just standard length from their website. There is a little slack behind the cable cover in the back, but not a ton. The only one that's really too long is the molex cable for the pump, and to get the DRGB and the fan hub, and the two drives, and the temp sensor I have is 5 sata power, and the default one comes with a 4 and a 2, so I had to use both, the 4 is a little long, but not too bad, though the 2 is obviously more than I needed for the 1 extra sata power.

For your TV or a lot of your cables in general, get some cheap cable wrap like the kind linked below. You'd be surprised how much cleaner a single bundled wire looks. Here's my

Twist ties work, but they look a bit sloppy.

The zip ties are okay, but they're permanent, and kind of suck if you want to move things around later.

I used one of those for my V-drum set. You know, with each drum head and cymbal having its own chord running around the frame to the drum unit, it looked much, much nicer when they were all bundled and covered together.

The nice thing about those big cable sleeves is that they're wide enough to run a cable through doubled over without pinching anything. You know, if the cable is too long, just loop it back around to the other end and back again through the tube until the length is right where you need it.

Aside from that, and if you have cables that need to be out in the open (like mic cables), just try to coil the excess neatly under the mic stand so it doesn't look quite so messy. And coil them loosely around the stand so they don't stand out or wave around so much.

You could use a braided sleeve over it. I have it on my 3 in 1. Here is the one I have on mine, but you might be able to use a thinner version if you can fit it around the ends. It strengthens it and keeps from getting tight twists.

Alright then, here's mine in all its humble glory. Cables from tv, cd/dvd, and turntable are concealed within white snap-together cable/cord concealer (no power cords) along the baseboard. Otherwise everything is organized and secured with Velcro tie/straps behind the media console, and with the audio rack. The power cords are sorted, bound, and routed along the side of the rack to keep them separated from the low voltage cabling, which is routed through the holes in the center-back of the rack shelves, likewise Velcro tied, and wrapped with velcro/neoprene wrapper. It's not as end-game cable management as I'd like, but I'm still searching for that prefec solution.

Also, a mouse bungee would do you wonders. That, or loosely Velcroing your mouse wire to your keyboard wire so they stay uniform. Oh, and you'd probably benefit from a headphone stand. Last things that comes to mind are a vesa mount for your monitors, an extended mouse pad, some LED's behind your desk and monitor, and perhaps finding another place to put your PC. You can always extend cables.

I wouldn't put them outside, especially if they've gone so long without learning how to stay safe out there. If your neighbors are so far away, I'd be worried about what sort of wildlife you have in your area. I doubt the cats are maliciously targeting your things alone, they probably have just decided that "wires over here are fun" and not extended the concept to other wires. Or they like chewing on wires that were near you.

I watched my cat destroy a cell phone cord one day. It was quite thin, he just casually walked up and bit it, the way outdoor cats will approach long blades of grass, and that was it. It was too thin to hold up to even one bite. It wasn't malicious, and I think he was as surprised as I was that it broke so easily. (Although maybe the look of surprise was that I was rushing towards him saying, "No! Bad cat!")

Regardless, it sounds like you need to protect your wires. Bitter sprays have never really worked on my cat, but are worth a shot. I'd personally go with wire covers. (I'd put one on your wife's mouse, too, just in case they re-direct their attention to it when they can't get to yours. I'd also cover any wires that are similarly thin.)

There are a lot of options. This one looks like it might be exactly what you need. There's also a larger size for power cords. Or, if you want to cover every wire, there's a bulk option.

You might also want to provide them with cat grass so they have an appropriate outlet for all their chewing.

Easy enough!



Beyond that, I use velcro straps, clear tape, double sided tape, cable sleeves, and zip ties depending on the circumstance. Doing an Amazon search for Cable Management will also help get you some ideas.

Leave a little space between your desk and the wall and either get a cable tray or check and see if your surge protector has slots on the bottom that you can use to hang it off screws.

Braided sleeving and velco strips will work wonders, or use a combination of the two depending on how much you have to deal with. It's on you to hide all of it behind your monitor stand for minimal appearance, but with a little work it'll look great!

I'd say light-coloured curtains or drapes for the side to establish that cinema/ theatre illusion. Dark window tint for the two small windows so you don't blind yourself when you want to watch TV in the morning and since you have speakers there, you don't want to draw blinds and knock things over.

Also, definitely invest in wire-management material. Drill some holes in your bookshelves, shove all the wires in a wire tube and stick it in the corner. The rest of your house is neat, the wires have to obey the law too. Something along the line of these:

My monitor has the power brick integrated inside so all I have is the plug. It's a nice feature to have that is often overlooked. Mine also has a USB 3.0 usb integrated in it, so I don't need as many wires going to my desktop. Really nice. And I've wrapped all the wires in a nice cable management sleeve that you can cut to size.

This is what I've had on mine since the day I got it. Only had it a couple months so far but it makes the cable less prone to tangles and protects it better in case I should step on it or roll over it a bit with my chair. I'm very careful about that but it has happened. Just cut the length you need and slip the cable inside. it has a slit the whole length of it on one side.

Cable Management: involves the cable raceway attached below the desk using Command Strips from Wal-Mart. The cord management sleeves came in 4 pieces and I used that to organize all the wires. I have the speaker remote attached next to the lifting mechanism under the desk which is nice for quick volume control. The sub-woofer is placed on the desktop due my preference of having the fewest number of cables coming down from the desk. The one cord that hangs down is the power strip that runs to the outlet. Overall, I love the desk. In fact, I bought another one for my wife. The ability to switch between standing and sitting with the lifting mechanism is well worth the low price I paid. The setup requires minimal effort to lift - I personally use two hands for stability. I do think that an addition of a computer tower on the desktop will make it difficult, but not impossible, to lift. There is mention of wobbling in one of the review videos on YouTube, but it is barely noticeable on a day to day use. I will say that my only complaint is the desktop is not solid wood and I have experienced a bit of surface lift after a cup with condensation was left on the desktop overnight. I recommend using a coaster if you plan to having drinks on your desk.

Just in case this is helpful for you sometime, i remembered that we also use these cord covers to keep our kittens from chewing groups of cords. These covers have worked really well for cord-bundle protection from teeth (and pee, ugh). You can cut them to size, but they might be too big still for individual phone cables.

My first thought is cable wraps like this or this. It won't necessarily stop her from chewing on it, but it'll keep her from chewing through it. If you're lucky she won't like the texture of the wrap and will leave it alone.

You can also attack the problem from the other end by getting the kitty more things to do/investigate/climb on/chew on. There are dedicated cat chew toys, or since you know she likes this particular cable you could leave it out (unplugged!) where she can get at it easily. Just watch that she's not chewing off pieces of plastic and swallowing them.

Zip ties or Velcro strips, yes to start.

Then you cover the groups of cables with something simple like this or like this and you'll be in good shape.

Had the same issue (though on level 30 >.<). Here's now I fixed it:

I purchased 10' extensions for the HDMI/USB/Audio cables and then (this is key) wrapped them in these.

A costly upgrade but I haven't had a single wire issue since. You still get wrapped up if you're not careful but it's easy enough between rounds to see which way you need to turn during the next round to undo it.

It looks like somebody just attached a bubbler to the mouthpiece using some rubber hoses with a cable sleeve covering, probably using electrical tape or something similar to seal the connections.

If you're interested in recreating this I would recomment using a WPA instead of the regular mighty mouthpiece and one of these adapters on the hose to connect to the WPA.

You know what you should do OP is get some velcro and take the cord from your router, wrap it down tightly all the way to the floor then get yourself some of these and run them along the base board and out of your way. I did the same thing, never regretted it. Also makes it easier for sweeping, mopping or even troubleshooting later on.

The desk looks nice from the front. The cables in the back will be a bit more challenging to manage. Getting shorter connector cables would be a start so that way you don’t have to deal with loops of extra cord. You might also want to consider a cable sleeve to gather all the cables together.

Yeah I checked it out again and it's more like $60 to do it correctly @ 16' with a repeater and ceiling mount. Think that $80 - $100 included extending the sensors.

This is what I used. It's a great solution as it can be cut to whatever length you need, and then you just cut slits in the fabric where you're adding cables (or be lazy like me and just feed them between the loops and hooks). I bought a patch of Velcro, adhered it to the bottom of my desk, and then affixed this.

I got all that from a comment that I can't find from a thread months back. The commenter also suggested Wire Wrap which I also use and has worked well. It did take forever to get it on, though, and there was a lot leftover.

Also, other people here have mentioned having to turn off the Vive Link to get it working, I just unplug the Power Supply Adapter from the Vive Link every time I'm done with it and that seems to work. I also disconnect the HDMI/USB/Power Supply Adapter from the computer, the Odyssey+ and the power supply as well when I'm done, instead of leaving anything plugged in.

Because it won't work. You have to have an HDMI repeater, which generally costs $10-15. They also have cable sleeving on them which is about $7-8.

I was looking into making one but for everything you see it's will cost about $35-40 for a 10' extension plus having to deal with sleeving cables. I don't think $20 extra is too bad a deal to have everything assembled and sent to your door. Especially if you hate cable sleeving like me.

You could always just use cable ties and it'd make it about $30 and a little easier, but if you don't like ugly cables the sleeving is the way to go.

Monitor mounts actually help a lot too, it's not really obvious at first but a secondary utility of monitor mounts is you can snake the cables to the mount to make it look cleaner instead of it hanging about.

This would look 10x better if you fixed those cables. I would use this for the monitor cables and this for the PC cables.

IKEA's Bekant is a popular desk that comes with a cable management net. You can also buy cable channels and cable socks for organizing bundles of cables.

Personally, I just use lots of velcro to bundle cables and zipties to route them via the legs of my table.

It's a neoprene Velcro sleeve, and then I used adhesive Velcro on the desk itself. It's all black so it blends in with the desk very well.

Get some cord covers (I got one like this from eBay a couple years ago for ~$12 I think). My wife found some shorter lengths at the dollar store. It's just a flexible plastic tube with a slit in it to push the cable through, and keeps my cats from chewing important cords.
