Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes.

Well, how serious are you? Cause if you're serious... here ya go

Otherwise, without knowing what you're into, it's a bit tough. Sushi Go! is an absolutely awesome card game - super easy to teach, pretty quick to play, but really fun for anyone. It's... "THE BOMB" at parties.

I would also extremely recommend Dominion, it's probably my favorite table-top game. However, I can't say it's for everyone.

I would absolutely love KTANE... wish I could buy it, but I've already spent way too much on games, and college is eating into my pockets. Thanks much! Sir Soaring Spud

Oh god. Okay. I feel like I've been preparing for this post my whole life (or at least since I found these awesome things on amazon):

Studio can become a second home for you, especially towards the tail end of each semester as everyone is rushing to wrap up final projects. Like others have said, there may be nights where you may be better off sleeping in studio or need to pull an all-nighter. Studio culture is definitely fun, though; folks tend to find some interesting ways to reduce stress.

For 2D software, use AutoCAD. You can get a free educational license for all Autodesk software and they are the industry standard. I used Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to set up final plot sheets and to pretty up 2D drawings / renderings.

For 3D software, SketchUp is free and stupidly simple. I used Kerkythea as my render engine (it's free but is a little outdated). Once you move on to more complex projects, I'd recommend Rhinoceros3D with V-Ray. Familiarizing yourself with Revit is also great for future employment.

Some model-making tips that I wish I'd known in my first year: 123 Blocks are a gift from the gods, spray accelerant for super glue is amazing, and hot glue is great if you can hide it from your professor / critics.

u/OfficerPewPew · 1 pointr/300BLK

So this is a month old but I have some insight if you haven't already started a certain path.

I just bought a 300blk upper for my pistol. I have a lot of 223 brass I've saved to and decided to reload for 223 to save some money. Well I'm pretty well into reloading for 223 and decided i would start for 300blk as well. The equipment isn't too expensive (relatively) if you get some Cabela's sales and buy some discounted gift cards. Full equipment with necessary parts will run about $250 after everything (can be cheaper if you buy a bundle pack).

This kit

Digital caliper

Initial 300blk dies

Trimming die

Trimmer

Case lube

That's pretty much it for the equipment side. Then you'll need bullets, powders, and primers.

If you're starting out with 223 brass you may want to cut the case before trimming, but you'll need something to cut it with. If you buy some ammo to shoot and collect the casings you can't use them too.

I have everything I need for 300blk except powder pretty much. I just need to find something to use.

So $250 for equipment and 1k round of 223 reloading will cost me about $175. That's $425 for the first 1k round of just 223. Once I buy stuff for 308, 300blk, and 9mm I'll start saving in much higher quantities per round. I think I'll probably actually start saving money through reloading in a couple months if I shoot as regularly as I'd like. I still buy ammo on sales and all, so I typically don't count brass into my cost for a reloaded round. On average it's about $.18/round (for .223) if I don't find good deals.

Edit: so I just went through and did some calculating. .178cpr for 223, .285cpr for 300blk, and .362cpr for 308 of I get good sales and free shipping.

Very cool and informative video. Really neat use of salvaged parts and the guy is intelligent and skilled. However I think he kind of down plays and under estimates the cost of the product and tools he was using and he also mentions the fact that you can buy a lathe (that would almost certainly work better) for a similar price. The big kicker is the other tools. The tools to use and or build this lathe would cost more than the machine itself. I'm going to link you some of the tools you'd want to be able to use this machine effectively (and make it).

This granite block will be the basis for all of your measurements it is extremely flat. You'd probably want to make a stand for it and it is very heavy as well. The 933$ version would be ideal for bigger stuff but maybe you could just make small stuff it's a small lathe anyways so lets say the 235$ version

https://www.amazon.com/HHIP-4401-1812-Granite-Surface-Accuracy/dp/B01LTHIHCK/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=granite%2Bblock&qid=1569402248&s=gateway&sr=8-3&th=1&psc=1

Mitutoyo Digital Caliper 120$ The waterproof version is better if you intend to use coolant. I think you could use cheaper no name ones for the ones that he built into the machine but you would need one good one.

https://www.amazon.com/Mitutoyo-500-196-30-Advanced-Measuring-Resolution/dp/B00IG46NL2/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=mitutoyo+digital+calipers&qid=1569402063&s=gateway&sprefix=mitutoyo+digital&sr=8-3

Range dial indicator (runout gauge). He used one in the video and you'd be using one a lot. 219$

https://www.amazon.com/Mitutoyo-64PKA075-Indicator-Magnetic-Plastic/dp/B007XZIT5I/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=runout+gauge+mitutoyo&qid=1569402528&s=gateway&sr=8-4

Micrometer set with standards. 354$

https://www.amazon.com/Mitutoyo-103-922-Micrometer-Standards-Graduation/dp/B0006J42OA/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?keywords=mitutoyo+micrometer&qid=1569403065&s=gateway&sr=8-5

That's just getting started. Now you might be able to find some of this stuff used but I'm not sure if I would trust it. You wouldn't believe how careless people treat tools that cost several hundred dollars. If you did go used I'd try to find someone getting rid of their personal tools, not shop tools.

This isn't to discourage you though. I just want people to realize it's not easy or cheap. I'd start out with a lathe for wood and make stuff on it that doesn't need the tight tolerances.

Check out this guy. https://youtu.be/yCaGW9z4blM

https://www.amazon.com/Images-SI-Uranium-Ore/dp/B000796XXM

it looks like a strict liability law, so you need license (use or other one sec 13-?. the table at the end has permitted levels- i'd send them the amazon link with license app, but it looks likes the amazon sample is under the permitted limits and harmless(ish)... it looks like there's no restrictions on it in US, as its natural ore. so NK or ISIS could order a ton from zon and bezos would not commit treason (i think US decided quick that the ore is too costly/abundant to secure, and pivoted away from rocks to secure/ban trade in the refining technology... so it looks like the radioactive levels NZ permits are same as the natural ore, to get above that, it needs to be refined, which you can't do unless you're NK, CN, FR, UK, IR, USA, etc.

u/IIIBlackhartIII · 23 pointsr/changemyview

I'd like to point out that you can, in fact, buy uranium ore as an individual- there's even uranium ore on Amazon.

What I think you're talking about is refined uranium-235, the kind which is used in the creation of atomic weaponry. Even supposing that you're not using it to attempt to create a bomb- and you are indeed hoping to use the product for research or development on medical or other purposes, why should individuals be allowed to obtain such a volatile material? There's the dangers of radiation poisoning, of the creation of weapons, etc... if you're truly hoping to use the uranium for research purposes, why wouldn't you go through an established university, institute, or lab? This way we make sure that qualified professionals with the equipment and know-how to make sure that it is handled safely, and for genuinely useful purposes, are the ones with access to it. And there's accountability to make sure it doesn't just end up in the hands of a bomber.

It's like if someone wanted to obtain samples of smallpox for research purposes- why would we trust just anyone and run the risk of it being mishandled, when there are established procedures and institutes to make sure it is properly contained?

u/ThrownAwayMosin · 3 pointsr/ak47

> neither extreme or violent in a method to accelerate the projectile rapidly.

......Thats why guns never explode because smokeless gently pushes the rounds down the barrel with with light and gentle pressure. Oh I get it now./s

You are arguing semantics with someone who doesn't give a fuck. Try to change your walls mind and you might have better luck. And hey dumb ass what do hemorrhoids feel like? oh that's right they feel like butthurt. Since I was never a dick to you till after you called me one, you must have hemorrhoids, because you were pretty butt hurt over a mild joke, that was more in agreement with you while making fun of I.O., RAs,C39 owners, yet you took it personally. Most likely because you were already in butthurt due to the hemorrhoids, Hence why I recommended it for you. Why you think my pussy has a yeast infection Idk, it's not like you can see me sitting here scratching at this itchy thing, But I promise it's not from you, you are no where near sweet enough.

And now the downvotes are hurting your feefees? Don't worry I'll have a talk with them.

Guy stop downvoting him. He obviously can't handle the downvotes and needs a safepace where he can hide from all the libtard cucks who aren't even here yet he felt the need to bring that up.

Also might want to double check those numbers, Unless these are 300g containers. But surely you know what you're talking about and didn't throw up a random thing you read once.

u/CarbonFireOC · 2 pointsr/Amd

You are doing everything right from what I can see, just needs more!

That handle part of the square is probably machined perfectly flat and can't flex right? I'd use that. It took me well over an hour to get the finish i wanted with 400 grit. Just keep rotating the cooler 90 degrees every 5 minutes or so so you are working it evenly. Sand in a figure 8 motion and if it starts catching too much to be smooth, add a little more water. I'd cut the sand paper in to small pieces just large enough to use comfortable around the block and change them every 5-10min depending on how it was feeling.

The amount of paste in the first one was a bit much, I recommend people over apply because its easy to smear off the paste during re-assembly or just not have enough to fill in a bad job and the HBM gaps. You can't hurt it, it just takes more clean up time, too little paste and its cooked. Now you have a feel for it the second application is looking good, I'd put a little excess over the HBM and go thin in the middle (when its flat!) now you have the hang of it.

Looking forward to your results! I see that SC mouse pad :)

If you are looking for a good block to sand with, I'd grab these: https://www.amazon.com/BL-123NH-Pair-Blocks-without-holes/dp/B000P496VU/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1550778570&sr=8-8&keywords=machinist+block

u/not_meeeee · 1 pointr/DeskCorners

Totally agree! I like the way you think! ;) Is your floor controller down yet? I bet a nice dark mahogany phanalic loop would look amazing with an ice top. You would probably have a lot of birds trying to get close to it if you use a bit of this.

u/y4m4 · 2 pointsr/Tools

Judging by how the Shore scales overlap, you probably want to be using D anyway: http://www.imperialrubber.com/images/03-numerical-comparison-of-shore-scales-for-measuring-hardness.jpg You can always convert into another scale if you really want.

Here is the same meter that you found for less money and ships from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Digital-Durometer-Rubber-Hardness-Display/dp/B01ET0E2UA/

I would just buy that and try it out. The reviews you posted seemed mostly positive aside from one asshole who left one star because he's an idiot, one guy that got a defective unit, and another guy who said it isn't accurate (no idea what he was actually doing with it).

Buy it from Amazon and return it if it isn't working.

You aren't going to get exceedingly accurate readings with a device that isn't a piece of actual lab equipment. This is serious business. We're talking very precise tip geometries, forces/springs and measuring equipment (think micrometer or dial indicator). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shore_durometer

I would buy the cheap meter and then a calibration set: https://www.amazon.com/Mitutoyo-64AAA590-Calibration-Included-Mahogany/dp/B007FFTUGI

You can determine a correlation between your readings and known values. Plot the three points in excel to generate a best fit line and equation, plug the values from the cheap meter in and bingo. You will still be under $250 and you can buy a the right used shore tester when it pops up on ebay.

Not only can you legaly posses it, but thanks to the wonders of the internet you can easily purchase it on Amazon for about $40 USD. As others have pointed out, naturally occurring Uranium ore, and DU are legal without too much restriction. But for Special Nuclear Material (Enriched U-235, Pu-239, other isotopes capable of a critical reaction) you would need a NRC License (in the US).

u/TheBeardedMann · 8 pointsr/funny

Bought one. Worked great till I spilled my Tuscan Milk all over it while reading How To Avoid Huge Ships. Luckily I had bought some Uranium Ore at the same time. Sprinkled a little over the cable, and it works perfect now.

  1. To piggy back on this, I got this scale (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012LOQUQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) with this weight (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002SVUBYE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) for calibration, and it works perfect for hops/brewing salts. The reviews all indicate that its great for times when amounts matter (be it insulin dosages or less-than-legal drugs that charge by the gram), so I figure it's probably good enough for hops and calcium carbonate.
u/killerguppy101 · 1 pointr/metalworking

I got a 12" square by 2" thick surface plate on Amazon for about 30 bucks with shipping. Best shop purchase in awhile.

EDIT: Can't seem to find the particular one I had, but here's something close. Not quite as accurate as the one I got (came with a cert and everything!). It's extremely useful for sanding things flat, polishing, and measuring accurately. I use it the most for sanding; just throw a bit of water on there and a sheet of wet/dry sandpaper on top. The water sucks the sandpaper down flat. The thinner the paper (usually higher grit), the better it sticks to the plate and the flatter it gets. Can get an almost mirror shine with 2000 grit and just a very very light buffing on aluminum.

u/programmingguy · 1 pointr/investing

The best play is to hoard while stocks last. Since U has a long half life period, you should hoard enough of it while shipping is free in Amazon.

u/NeuroticIntrovert · 8 pointsr/Parahumans

Resources they have available isn't a problem at this point in the story, because of Coil. Untraceable firearms are a non-issue when one is willing to wait a few days, and (at least in post-9/11 Earth Aleph), uranium is available on Amazon.

As for mentality, I'd understand if this was Regent or Bitch's power, but Grue is pretty diligent, and Tattletale is all about information. Getting a more detailed understanding of a teammate's power seems like something they would... well, get around to eventually.

u/red286 · 1 pointr/worldnews

>It's difficult to create nuclear fusion but a teenager did it a few years ago.

Fission, not fusion. And no, creating nuclear fission is not difficult at all. It happens naturally.

>It is no more insane to think that a disease could be created, in this day and age, than creating nuclear fusion I would think.

It absolutely is, as creating a disease would require access to a bio lab and a fair amount of education, whereas creating nuclear fission requires a lump of radioactive material, which you can actually purchase online for $40.

I need a wormhole, uranium ore, and a realistic Spongebob costume.

My daughter turned 3 on April 1st (not fooling) and her favorite cartoon is Spongebob. I bought her (and my sister) plane tickets to fly over here and visit me since I haven't been able to see her in six months. Her mother, at the last minute, refused to let her on the plane, breaking our custody agreement and screwing me out of nearly a grand. With the above items I'll finally be able to finish my time machine, go back a couple weeks, and fly over there, instead, to see her and let her meet Spongebob!

Of course, I'm going to need a computer to run the time machine. My 6 year old laptop has a burnt out network card and can't hardly Skype with my daughter, much less run Windows 8, and stupid me didn't make the time machine Win 7 compatible!

u/hammong · 5 pointsr/Silverbugs

Be sure to get a set of calibration weights at 1/2/5/10/20 etc. grams. Cheap scales are cheap -- and the readings sometimes drift with temperature and battery voltage. A set of weights will keep your scale honest.

https://www.amazon.com/Hestya-Calibration-Digital-Balance-Tweezer/dp/B078Q3JZY7

You don't need to go hog wild on the quality of the calibration weights - a cheap set will do the job for what you're measuring.

Side story -- I used to work at a company that had a chemistry lab that analyzed metal purity, assay of acid solutions, etc. Their calibration weight set was made out of 24K solid gold so the weights wouldn't oxidize over time, and could be acid washed from time to time to eliminate surface contamination. They were 100 miligrams, 1 gram, 2 gram ... up to 25 grams. The "whole set" weighed about 1 troy ounce and was made sometimes in the 1950s. They looked brand new in 1990 when I was there. The scale they used to weigh things was accurate to 0.00001g (0.01 milligrams) !

The bad relatives will get this.

Haha you can find Uranium just walking around outside, he wouldn't be able to make anything at all with it. It's little more than a bit of rock really. You can buy Uranium on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Images-SI-Uranium-Ore/dp/B000796XXM

Depleted Uranium emits non-iodising radiation, like radio waves and microwaves and radar, you can easily buy some uranium from Amazon and test this yourself at home. It isn't dangerous at all unless you eat / drink it. You can hold it in your hands with no side effects what so ever. Radiation isn't some magical substance that can get into everything, I suggest you educate yourself on the different types of radiation and how they all act differently and effect us differently.

How easy is it to get Uranium in the United States? Pretty damn easy considering you can buy the stuff on Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/Images-SI-Uranium-Ore/dp/B000796XXM

Your professor seems to have fallen into the classic liberal trap of talking about how EASY it is to get Uranium, instead of how HARD it is to make it weapons grade.

Uranium starts out as yellowcake Uranium, which is .07% U-235 and 99.3% U-238. Reactors typically enrich the U-235 to about 1-5%. Nuclear bombs REQUIRE a U-235 enrichment of above 90%. Below 20% enrichment, Uranium it is PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR URANIUM TO EXPLODE.

Enrichment is typically done using the Gasseous Diffusion and Gas Centrifuge methods, both of which require large, obvious, expensive facilities that can be easily tracked.

Is it easy to get Uranium? You bet your fucking ass it is. But it's nigh on IMPOSSIBLE to enrich it to atomic bomb levels secretly.

u/mesenteric · 1 pointr/pics

Can confirm re: calibration weights.

That particular one doesn't come with a calibration weight, unfortunately. But -- I've tried more than one scale and I got really tired of the calibration hassle, so with the $10 or so I saved on that scale from another I was looking at, I bought a simple set of calibration weights -- and have ended up using them far more frequently than I thought I might.

But for those who don't have a calibration weight, to me it's bonus that the scale actually arrived perfectly calibrated.

I also have a AWS Gemini 20 milligram scale -- great if you're looking for milligrams and very precise -- but far too difficult to use regularly for kratom, IMO, not least because the scale can't use a regular cup, even a plastic condiment cup.

But even if I'd had to pay the convenience store price you mentioned, which was double what I did pay, I couldn't be happier with the scale I bought. As I told my partner at the time, it's the scale that all the others wish they were. :D

Partially-spent nuclear fuel is not usable as a nuclear bomb. Fuel has to be very pure in order to sustain the rapid chain reaction that happens in a nuke, and spent reactor-grade fuel isn't even close. At best, it has to be heavily refined first.

Plus you have to actually design and build the bomb itself, which is extremely difficult. The bomb's casing has to withstand the explosive force of a fucking nuke until the fuel is consumed, and only then give way, or else it'll fizzle out. Good luck.

Edit: Also, you have to somehow make the bomb not explode prematurely. Uranium is unstable, remember. If you have a chunk of 100%-pure uranium, a fission chain reaction will be started immediately by its own radioactive decay, and then you no longer have a chunk of 100%-pure uranium. (That's why highly-enriched uranium does not occur in nature.) So, you have to figure out how to make the fission chain reaction happen, but only when you want it to. Again, good luck.

Spent reactor fuel might be used to make a dirty bomb, but the effectiveness of dirty bombs as actual weapons is highly questionable.

Anyway, we already have more than enough nukes lying around—some of them unaccounted for, and probably in terrorist hands—to go full Fallout.

Fun fact, by the way: you can buy uranium on Amazon. Seriously. You can even buy it as a gift, amusingly enough.

u/TL_DRead_it · 1 pointr/technology

It`s not as hard as you might think...
http://www.amazon.com/Images-SI-Inc-Uranium-Ore/dp/B000796XXM

Although, the required equipment to actually turn this into usable uranium U-235 might be slightly more expensive....

u/Racheakt · 3 pointsr/Conservative

Argument to absurdity. But I will play along.

So you think absolute free press includes lies and fabricating evidence, and that free speech means yelling fire in a crowed theater?

The means to fabricate a nuke is beyond an individual for the most part in this nation (note you can buy and own uranium legally), but if we take the "only a militia" can on arms, then the collective could in theory amass the means to make one and be within the realm of the "it is a collective right" argument more so than the individual argument.

So to some degree I agree, but no more than I agree that absolute free speech means screaming fire in a crowded theater is ok, or for news to use fabricated stories as fact.

u/atetuna · 1 pointr/3Dprinting
