I'm going on Dash #10 or 11, having done at least one a year since 2009 and sometimes two since Ohio was hosting multiple events. I like them, they're fun, and it has gotten to the point where my non-running friends will join me for this race just because of the environment. It's a 5k* where you're not gonna kill yourself on any obstacle and where you're not forced to run, run, RUN. Plus the afterparty is kinda cool too.
As greenVneck said below, it's more of a social event and I don't mean that in a bad way. Trails and obstacles tend to bottleneck (which tends to happen at most obstacle runs in general) so you end up talking to people along the way, something you typically don't do in your 5ks/10ks/etc.
They had a shower area that was sponsored last year when I did my Dash in Pocono. Hopefully they continue that, since it's definitely a better option than jumping back into a pond to get clean. I think this year we're doing 5 gallon solar showers and buying a shower tent. A group had one last year and they said it's the first thing they pack when they're heading out for a Warrior Dash, Spartan Race, or a Mudder. It's still sitting in my Amazon cart from last year. I probably should buy it sometime before my next Dash in August. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AT3T0GC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Edit: bonus points for me. I turn mid 40s in 40 days.
I love this tip!! It makes such a HUGE difference in your day. I’m gonna do one further and recommend purchasing a shower tent . They’re pretty cheap, and just the right size to get naked and clean in the comfort of your own campsite! We started bringing one two years ago and our whole crew uses it.
Clothes: 5 gallon buckets and a laundry plunger wand.
Or, if you are going to be driving for a while, this will work well if your shocks aren't the best and the road is bumpy... 5 gallon bucket, add clothes/water/soap/spiky drier ball thingies. Put a lid on the bucket and tighten it, put it in the back. Drive.
When you are done driving, rinse, spot check, wring, and then hang dry.
I have a piece of rope going across the van that I used when doing laundry.
Or you can use a laundry mat but that kind of kills the adventure.
Showering and bathing.
Highly love the solar shower bag by Coleman. You might want to get a pop up shower stand but you can totally bath in your vehicle. A tarp on the floor is helpful.
I took a lot of bucket baths too. Fill a small bucket with soapy water (not tons of soap) and wash up. Then rinse in fresh water. I think that bucket was a gallon bucket.
Wipes are helpful also. When we traveled a lot, some days were crotch and pit wash days since we couldn't shower. It happens. These made that easier for us.
I've tried those, but have had...less-than desirable results. Apparently I lack the sort of coordination needed to use one without peeing all over myself. 😆
So I did the next best thing and created my very own Whiz Palace! It's essentially a large bucket with a toilet seat on top; I secure a small trash bag inside and fill with cedar shavings (like you'd put in a small pet cage), to mitigate any noise or smell. The toilet is then placed inside a pop-up shower tent and voila! I also include toilet paper and other accouterments. I change the bag and cedar daily. It's not pretty, but it beats the heck out of stumbling to a porta-potty at 5am.
A temporary pop-up shelter we can deploy in emergencies. It could be a single-use, time-limited force field, or even some kind of pop-tent. Remember this drop shield? A scifi variety of something like this standing tent(Amazon link. I have no affiliation with the product. I don't even know if it is good, but it had the "look" I was going for) would work too.

We can build signal boosters just about anywhere. It wouldn't need to be something much bigger than signal booster to provide shelter.

I don't know if it would make more sense for it to be "Tech" or an expendable item like a defense chit. I leave that to people knowledgeable about making games.

For gameplay balance, it should probably only protect against weather hazards and not sentinels or animals (though it might make sense to have it prevent animals from going aggro on you).

I know the response to this is: "use the terrain manipulator to make a shelter", but that isn't always desirable, and having another option can be nice. Just a thought.
Edit 1: removed repeated word
Edit 2: Amazon link disclaimer
I think mwenechange has an excellent plan. You don't need much to get the work done: a portable camp stove (propane is easiest to use) or a portable electric hot plate coupled with a small "dorm" refrigerator & a cheap small microwave which can be moved from room to room inside the house as you progress). Add in a small cheap toaster oven and you can eat well while you do the renovation. With a small refrigerator, you may need to go to the store more frequently but at least it will get you out of the house for a break from the work.
I've worked on renovations where we used portable camp toilets (https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=portable+toilets) Be sure to get a seperate one that flushes for solids and you can use a bucket with gel absorbent material for urine. The two porta-potty system makes emptying it a much less frequent & arduous task (we learned that the hard way).
We also used a pop up tent when the porta poties had to stay outside (https://www.amazon.com/Leapair-Portable-Changing-Dressing-Backpack/dp/B01FXNRCWM/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1485367205&sr=8-8&keywords=portable+toilets). You can get a portable camp shower (Coleman makes a nice one) that uses propane to heat the water. Close the lids on the portable toilet & place it outside the tent to take a shower inside the tent.
There are various types of hand wash stations your can buy to use with this set up or you can repurpose materials to make one (http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=home+made+camp+hand+washing+station&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8).
I kept the tent and the porta-potties for when we attend an all-day event where there will be public porta-potties cuz they are so much easier than those horrid little shit shacks.
Good luck on your renovation!
Gotcha. We've definitely done that.
Last year we upgraded to something like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073WWDGCV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
it's cheaper than a tent and can be used for multiple things. Ours was a combo shower/dressing room. Worked great.
something like this
paired with this
and you're set for like 30 bucks
or you could just bring a black 5 gal bucket, fill it up in the morning and let it sit in the sun to warm up and just dunk a washcloth in there to wipe down and use wet wipes on the naughty bits. that would cost you like 4 dollars.
or, you could skip the tent part all together and just plop that bag on the roof of your car and spray yourself down in your underwear/swimsuit or naked if that's your thing...
edit: never tried the shower trailers, heard they aren't too bad though.
My personal recommendation would be to skip the showers and have your group invest in a portable shower. We’ve had ours for a few fests now. You can shower any time of day. Super convenient and private.

Garden Sprayer+Misting Hose+Binder Clips+Canopy
Get hot? Just turn on the "AC." It's easy to go through a ton of water if you are blasting it constantly, but periodic 10 second bursts are really all you need. We never used more than one tank per day, if that. Detach the misting hose and the sprayer then doubles as a camping shower, just invest in a cheapo privacy tent.
We also use one or two tapestries for shade, just make sure to clip them with about a foot off the ground to maintain the breeze.
I'm hoping to snag This soon, with This for camping out this summer. I know my teenager is grumbling already but this should at least provide some comfort while we're camped out in the middle of nowhere.
A key gift for a trail runner is a portable changing tent similar to the one below (about $30).
It allows you to change easily standing up after runs rather than trying to “figure it out” in the car.
pop up tent
We had a shower tent, and a 5 volt shower pump. They worked pretty well.
>Size isn't too much of a factor cause I'm not sleeping in it, but being able to fit a few people would be nice.
So which is it? A two person tent is enough for two people facing each other, but more than that can be a problem. I respect the fire hazards of a heater too much to use it in a 2 person tent. Not to mention the short height. At a minimum, I'd want a 3 person tent if I were the only person in it with the heater, a 4 person tent for 2-3 people in the tent with the heater. The problem is a large 4 person tent takes a lot of time to heat up. I'd say my Mr Heater takes about 10 minutes before I start feeling the heat, and about 45 minutes before the tent finishes heating, and that only takes it from about 35°F to 50°F where it stops getting hotter because the tent is just too large for the heater and one warm body. If you want to be able to stand almost anywhere in the tent, you'll probably have to get a 6 person tent. To heat that at all, you need a larger heater than a Mr Buddy, and heating the area quickly is going to require a heater that puts out several times as many BTU's. This is the smallest I'd even consider for a tent that large for heating that area before you're done with your smoke. Either heater is already over half your ideal budget, and you still need to buy fuel, or a tank plus fuel for the second heater.
Maybe you should get multiple options. Maybe a popup "bathroom" tent for when you're solo, and a patio heater if you have a group.
Another problem is the type of smoking you're doing. I would not smoke cigarettes in a tent with a floor. Super dangerous. Vaping might be okay. Some would say using a heater or vaping in a tent with synthetic fabric is super dangerous, and I can't disagree. At least if I'm by myself, I can manage the risk. Adding others into the mix serious cranks up the danger.
Pooping in the woods tho is so liberating! There are some portable toilet options and they make little pop up tent style bathrooms that you can also use to shower in.

Lots of people here have obviously never gone camping, hunting or working in the wilderness for long periods away from sanitary facilities in a leave-no-trace environment. Pooping/peeing in bags is easy, private, and not the slightest bit degrading. Check out these products (you might even want to pop them in your car or van for long road trips -- especially with kids):

If this is what the employer is supplying, it's all good.
Yeah, exactly. A thrift store has a couple of these still in the boxes for $5 each, I keep debating getting one. They fold down really small which is ideal since I won't need it much, hopefully never really. http://emeditems.com/images/P/Portabletoilet.jpg
It would be handy for forest/desert use. A cheap privacy/changing/shower tent isn't too expensive, but adds to the packed gear (and cost):
https://www.amazon.com/Stansport-Cabana-Privacy-Shelter-Tent/dp/B00DYVQGB4
But I guess a week's use would more than pay for it.
And a bathroom tent like this
https://www.amazon.com/WolfWise-Dressing-Portable-Changing-Backpack/dp/B01FXNRA42/ref=mp_s_a_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1541377954&sr=8-10-spons&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=camping+bathroom+tent&psc=1
The image of this woman makes me feel like I don't know the intended use of a camping shower tent. And, that I don't dress properly when I camp.
Just be wary this one. In my experience, it's poorly made and rips easily.

You'll need a few items:
Privacy Shelter 1
OR
Privacy Shelter 2
Solar Shower
I'd recommend being conservative with the water use to avoid mud, aside from that, you should be set!
You can always get a couple of these:

Where will you be putting it? It looks big, keep in mind the amount of space you will have to work with. I believe it’s 30ft/10ft.
I’m using this one Camping Shower
I actually saw a ton of people using that, and they had this as well.
Pop up change tent. Someone on my team usually brings one.
We poop outside, if we have to we put up this
Intex Portable Solar Camping Shower, 5 Gallon Capacity https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073HSVC2B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_t9v5Cb8PWY4K1
GigaTent Pop Up Pod Changing Room https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CP8SJVW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_59v5Cb1TBM4T3
Both for under $26
I have seriously considered getting this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CP8SJVW -- a pop up changing/potty tent, for such things. But haven't pulled the trigger yet.
I got something similar to this last year and it used it as a camp shower. If you split it with one other person it'll be cheaper than using their showers with no line. I also got this to use along with it, but you could just use water bottles.
Way to much work. Just buy this and this. 8/10 on the shower scale, + no weird foot fungus living in the trailer.
I would seriously reconsider taking up any room for a shower in that small of a trailer and take your shower outside. The easiest way to do that is to heat your water and then use a garden pump sprayer. They sell small, very portable shower tents if you want privacy https://www.amazon.com/Ridge-Outdoor-Gear-Changing-Privacy/dp/B078QXYZDS?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_1 Another way that would require a water tank, pump and propane is this on demand system. I've read that they are not good to use inside because of the carbon monoxide output, but I, personally don't think a 2 minute shower would put you in that much danger and you could rig up a vent. But mainly it's meant for outdoors. If you do have access to a faucet and water hose, you could connect it to a small propane tank. I like the idea. https://www.campchef.com/triton-10l-portable-water-heater.html
I bought one of these and one of [these
after leaving the grove at 1 am, showers are closed. I'm not going to bed gross
i bought the tent and shower thing on ebay for way cheaper. I assume you do the same.
