There is not an Aux port in the car, but there is an open slot on the underside of the radio that you can install an Aux cord or Bluetooth adapter in. The adapters can be bought for relatively cheap depending on options. I had one that was Bluetooth, Aux, and USB but just Aux would’ve worked just fine.

Once the adapter is installed, you can click that CD/Aux button and it’ll allow you to access the alternate input. Mine used to say “CD-C” when I would use the adapter input.

These adapters can be found all over. Just search on Google for a 2004-2005 Acura TSX/Honda Accord Euro aux adapter and you’ll find plenty of options.

Here is a video that is a guide for installing it, they also show a brand here but I know that brand is really expensive. Amazon has great options for way cheaper.

https://youtu.be/KYmWHnLWPhI

Here is an example of one from Amazon for $22 USD. It includes an Aux and USB input. They’re compatible with numerous Honda’s, so you’ll find plenty of options.

USB Aux Interface Adapter Charge Cable For Honda Accord Odyssey Civic City Fit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DNF9V79/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_5tAHDbCSS63W7

Good luck! It’s a super easy, cheap install. Feel free to shoot me a message with any questions, done this on a few cars!

A cassette aux adapter is probably the simplest.

Next would be a battery or cigarette outlet powered FM transmitter.

Next would be a hard wired FM transmitter. They also exist in Bluetooth flavors. The quality is absolutely better than the previous FM transmitter but they still aren’t the best and require you to be on a FM station to use.

Next would be vehicle specific interface like this or one from USAspec or gromaudio. They work by tricking the factory radio into thinking a factory CD changer or SAT radio is connected. They can be as basic as a AUX input but also come in limited USB flavors as well as Bluetooth streaming and / or hands free flavors. They don’t always work the way you’d expect and can be clunky to use.

And finally would be an aftermarket replacement radio. Arguably the most expensive solution depending on the radio choice but has the potential to be the best solution with seamless functionality as well as increased functionally.

u/DaddyKoolAid · 24 pointsr/LifeProTips

That's a good use, because that is exactly what a power strip is designed for, and, as you point out, when there is a a spare outlet - but that isn't what the LPT is claiming here.

They're claiming that somehow it would 'guarantee' finding an outlet abroad, and that you can share with other travellers. But that would only work if those other travellers conveniently happen to be from your own country, or happen to have those adapters on them.

Imagine you're from the USA, with a type B USA power strip. You're at Frankfurt airport and all the type F outlets are taken. Unless you can find someone else charging a US device, people aren't going to be that happy for you to take out their type F device and then offer them 5 type B ones they can't use!

Power strips can be super useful when travelling abroad, but more often for applications like yours than this LPT.

I carry a universal adapter with 2 USB outlets and a universal outlet. I can either find someone charging a USB device that I can then share one of my USB outlets with (and charge 1 usb and 1 AC of mine), or I can 'pass through' their plug (of any type) and charge 2 of my USB devices. It actually meets the requirements of this LPT way better than the LPT itself.

Good choice, best colour too! Wish they did the NC2 in green...

  1. Mine have never come loose, they'll probably be fine now you've tightened them. Mine clicked a bit, but not because they were loose. I put some grease in the slot and it sorted it.

  2. I've never really checked! I'd imagine they should do something, right? I'll have a look at some point, but I guess check the fuses?

  3. If it's the non-Bose stereo I believe you can wire something like this in (double check compatibility first, I haven't done the proper research). If it's a Bose stereo I don't know, they've a reputation of being a pain to work with.

  4. They redesigned the stereo for 2009 up models, fascia etc is different so it certainly wouldn't be a totally straightforward upgrade. Has aux in as standard, which is nice. Not sure about the rest.

Other than that, if she gets fed up with the absence of variable intermittent wiper speed, then get an old wiper stalk from an RX8 on eBay and replace it, it's a 5 minute job and it makes life a lot more pleasant if you drive a lot in rain. 6 speed can be a bit notchy in 1st/2nd when it's cold, upgraded gearbox oil will fix that. Other than that just make sure the alignment's good, makes a big difference. It's a pretty bombproof car, she should have lots of hassle free driving ahead!
u/ModestMustang · 1 pointr/mazda

I purchased an adapter that plugs into the CD player expansion port on the back of my factory 2004 Miata unit, it worked great for $20. There was some electrical noise but a ground loop noise isolator fixed it. Then I purchased a $20 Bluetooth module that plugged into the aux port and was powered by the USB cable on the adapter. I had crystal clear aptX bluetooth on a stock 2004 miata radio.

I have since upgraded to a touch screen Kenwood unit so the adapter is just sitting in a drawer. If you want it I could ship it to you for free, I'm feeling generous this Christmas :)
Pm me if you want it!

A second option, and what I did with my mini is to buy the aux-in cable and mount that. My 04 R53 had a 30 pin when I got it but wouldn’t work with adapters so I just took the radio out, unplugged that 30 pin cable from the back, plugged in an aux in, and wired it to my glove box. Now I have a tiny bluetooth adapter that lives in my glovebox.

It is super easy to get to the back of the radio. Took <1hr and like 10 screws. You can mount it anywhere but I like the look of not having cables visible.

I bought this one but there are definitely cheaper ones out there.

u/Matad0r0 · 2 pointsr/subaru

I have an 01' but Im pretty sure that this, or something similar, will work and it looks pretty stock, you also need an RCA to 3.5mm adaptor, I got this one
this thing basically bypasses your FM antenna and gives you an aux input, I put mine under the climate control and the input and switch are hidden behind the DIN pocket

it looks like the antenna size might be different in the 06(i cant really tell), but there are adaptors

u/kstrike155 · 2 pointsr/Audi

IF you have an iPhone:

You can easily get bluetooth streaming with your factory head unit using a CoolStream or Tune2Air 1000 (if you have the factory iPod cable) or Tune2Air 3000 (if you don't).

I only have experience with the Tune2Air. It will provide very limited control of Spotify/Pandora. You can pause, fast forward, and rewind, but you can't change tracks (next or previous). It will show track information, but only if you hit the "info" button on the MMI. I've been happy, but wish I could do next/previous tracks. Certainly not a deal breaker. But it does provide full control of your local library on your iPhone, just like a normal iPod is connected.

u/alexmg2420 · 1 pointr/aww

Sure. Factory part number is MZ360135EX. Give that to your dealer, or it's $20 + shipping on Discount Mitsubishi Parts and $27 on eBay. Here's the generic version for $15 on Amazon. They should all work with both the standard and the Rockford Fosgate systems. (Mitsu also had a factory iPod adapter with the old 30-pin connector on it, but it was over $100, and with iPhones switching to the new lightning connector, it's already almost obsolete.)

I personally went with the factory aux jack because a dealer near me had it in stock for a fair price and I wanted it that day. I followed these instructions on Club4G. Here's a video, too, if you get confused.

I'd get one and install it as soon as possible. It was one of the best, cheapest mods I did to my Eclipse before I sold it. FM transmitters suck.

By the way, to switch to the Aux input, you press and hold "CD" for a few seconds.

EDIT: Also, I ran the wire in the center console and up through the center console storage. There's even a little cutout for wires to come out of the armrest/storage box. I also put in a cigarette lighter in there since there's a factory cutout for one, that way I could charge my device and have the factory one free.

u/kvlle · 1 pointr/GrandCherokee

Can't offer any help on what you bought, but can recommend the approach I took to this....

FM Modulator

Pair that with a Bluetooth receiver and you can even have Bluetooth music at the flip of a switch. Have been using it for years, works excellent

Edit:

You'll probably also need this too... look into it... relatively easy install

u/mdding · 1 pointr/Miata

You're looking for the suspension package. It included bilsteins and LSD. It was available as an option on any trim, but when I was shopping it seemed more popular on the loaded GT trim.

I think only the 2009- years have aux, but it's very easy to add to the 2006-2008. You can use this

u/dooshbox · 1 pointr/CarAV

Sorry little lady. Well.. depends how into your cars audio system are you, do you really care how it sounds(I.e Planning for future upgrades), or are you just wanting a quick fix?

Something like this would be super quick and easy, if your radio has RCA inputs on the back.

Question, do you know which radio it is? Base, Premium etc.

u/RabidAddict · 1 pointr/CarAV

Careful with the plastic around the gear selector, it snaps easy.

You're looking for something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Interface-Adapter-Charge-Accord-Odyssey/dp/B07DNF9V79

Not that this is the best option, just an example that also happens to show a picture of the connection on the bottom of the factory stereo as well.

Aftermarket stereos are fairly simple to install yourself too if you want to go that route and need more guidance.

u/DirteeCanuck · 2 pointsr/G35

I used the aux kit and added a bluetooth amp for 50 bucks.

Car connects when it turns on and can play music just fine without some bullshit FM transmitter. Cost $100.

All wireless and the voice works as well.

You wire everything into the armrest and I drilled holes for the transmitter placed just below the stick shift. Barely noticeable and I can switch songs very quickly;.

I thought I would be buying a double din setup down the road but I am very impressed with this setup so far. My phone can stay in my pocket all the music and calls work seamlessly.

I think if I did my speakers I would just add a 4 channel amp in the trunk and bybass a headunit all together.

Before I bought the bluetooth dongle I just plugged phone directly into the aux kit using it's 3.5mm. I thought the dongle would drop quality over the phones built in amp but I have noticed no difference and now it's fully wireless and has a built in mic for calls.

Here's my setup:

u/Imastupididiot · 2 pointsr/Wrangler

As for the AUX jack, I bought this which plugs into the back of your stock stereo. (Which should work on your Jeep, but I would pull out your stereo to make sure the jack for it is actually there). Then I bought this and hooked everything up and it works perfectly.

Best option for keeping your factory head unit is going with a universal Isimple. You will still need antenna adapters, found on amazon (forward and reverse for $5ech but if you have a best buy around you and you buy it from them the price includes install minus parts. Others have said go aftermarket which is a great option but it can cost significantly more especially if you have factory premium sound.

u/kevan0317 · 5 pointsr/ToyotaTacoma

Oh man it was stupid easy. Took maybe 5 minutes to do total.

Bought this and this from Amazon and installed with the factory radio. It just plugs right into the back with no issue on my non-JBL radio.

Both come with good instructions and a quick YouTube search to learn how to pop the radio out made quick work of it. Sound quality is crystal clear.

I loath aftermarket radios. The way they look and function is just hideous compared to where technology is. Alternatively I can't afford a $600 touchscreen unit. I'm a firm believer in just leaving things alone, leaving them stock so this fit right into my budget and methods. Very happy with the way it turned out. Sleek, elegant and simple.

u/xX_Justin_Xx · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I have always been fascinated with space and I would love to dress as an astronaut with an actual space suit on. I want the helmet. the boots, the little pack on your back with your oxygen in it... the works. I don't know if you have seen it or not but the trailer for "gravity" has got me all worked up about space stuff. I need to see that movie this week. As for an item, I like surprises but if I have to pick, I would pick this.

u/ItsMTC · 3 pointsr/Audi

If you have a premium then no, you cannot with stock. If you have a premium plus you can, but I'm sure guides online can help with that. If you don't have it stock I found those Bluetooth Audi MMI iPod 30 pin connectors work well; specifically this is the one I use in my Audi A4 2013:

Bluetooth Adapter for Audi and Volkswagen iPod iPhone AMI Cable - CoolStream CarPro https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017RVHSSQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_aFONybWFCJFZG

Just make sure you have the Audi 30 pin MMI connector, as that one and most others don't have it included. Or if Bluetooth is too risky just get an MMI to Aux 1/8 connector.

u/sharkamino · 2 pointsr/vinyl

Stay with digital music and reconsider getting into analog vinyl if you are going to be listening to it over compressed digital Bluetooth. If you must transmit to a Bluetooth speaker or headphones until you can upgrade to better wired speakers or headphones, you can connect a £20 to £30 Bluetooth transmitter to just about any turntable or phono preamp via the RCA or 3.5mm output. TaoTronics, BOIROS, Golvery etc.

Audio Technica LP60XBT £169 has Bluetooth, however you would be better off putting the extra £50 towards a better turntable or wired speakers.

u/natedagr811 · 3 pointsr/mazda3

This will not work on 2004 and 2005 Mazda 3s. On the 06+ units, there is a "Media" button which would accept that plug as an AUX, but the older ones have a "Tape/MD" button with no way to access it as an AUX device. That port on the older head units is for an external CD changer. You need a cable that plugs into the same port with a device attached to emulate the external CD changer. This is what I got for my car.

The cable emulates the external CD changer, and the head unit runs in CD mode. Press the CD button twice to access it. And the good news is, it will let you use both the in-dash CD player and the external plug.

Congrats on the new Mazda!

u/In_Dying_Arms · 0 pointsr/CarAV

>neither Visions nor Geek Squad (best buy) know how to install an aux input.

Either you asked the wrong questions or didn't listen to them correctly. You can either add something like the IS32 but at that point you're better off just getting a new radio like this one.

u/4_jacks · 5 pointsr/cars

Something like this should plug right into the back of your radio.

I used one of these to make it look nicer.

Here is the full install on my car, if you care.

u/goRockets · 1 pointr/mazda3

I added an aux port to my 2006 not too long ago. A ground loop isolator is a must otherwise you'll get a lot of background noise during acceleration and when you charge your device.

I got these parts:

Goliton aux cable for Mazda

3.5mm feed-thru panel mount jack

ground loop isolator

The combination works perfectly. I drilled a hole in the center between the cigarette lighter and the passenger airbag light. There is plenty of space behind it and the part is pretty cheap (less than $20) to buy used on ebay if I must return the car to stock configuration.

u/YoderinLanc · 3 pointsr/lancaster

I just did this a couple months ago in my girlfriends car. She just bought a 2007 Honda Accord which did not have an input, so I installed one for her birthday. It's super easy. Note: The 2003 is the same setup as the 2007.

u/etanclan7 · 3 pointsr/HondaAccord

Pretty much something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DNF9V79/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_sxKnDbPMSCR6S

It does require some technical knowledge because you have to take apart the center console but well worth the $20. I did it 5 years ago in an afternoon

Which I would recommend, hasn't let me down yet. According to manufacturer good for over 150 countries.

If you don't have the hum with the radio you can use one of these guys. I've had really good luck with them and you can add Bluetooth if you want. https://www.amazon.com/PAC-IS31-Auxiliary-Input-Module/dp/B009XQTDYG

u/cablespaghetti · 1 pointr/CarTalkUK

Ford Fiesta? Plentiful and have had Bluetooth on the higher spec ones for a while. Probably find one under budget.

I have something like this in my car. It works really well and if you want you can use a fuse spur to have it turn on with the ignition. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B078W1HQCK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_u8yRCb1K7B460

Bare in mind that Bluetooth on older cars will not be any good for music and was intended just for calls, so depending what you end up with you may need to upgrade it anyway.

u/kcirenim · 1 pointr/Audi

(Not sure of the actual technical name for the port, but it seems to be easy enough to find the adapters on Amazon etc)

u/PancakeZombie · 1 pointr/Audi

I assume you have an MMI 2G radio. Easiest way to listen to music would be to get a AUX- or USB-cable for the Music Interface (the clunky plug in the glove compartment, looks like this), There are variants with USB (and both) as well. I get my 2009 A4 today, that cable was the first thing i ordered.

^(That should be a simple way to hear calls as well.)

u/Shel68 · 1 pointr/Audi

Thanks! I was about to order this exact device.
Can you confirm that this will be compatible with the steering wheel controls of my 2014 Q5 for Volume and control play, stop, next and previous song.

There's also this similar product, which one would you recommend?

u/diasfordays · 1 pointr/Audi

I'm fairly certain audio streaming was not yet supported on the 2012 models. You'll need something like this to connect to the iPod adapter (for the AMI unit) in your glove box. If you don't have the one that came with the car, they're something like $20 online.

u/silverbullet80 · 1 pointr/cars

I bought this for my Honda Accord:

http://www.amazon.com/iSimple-IS32-Universal-Integration-Smartphones/dp/B004613FCE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426779745&sr=8-1&keywords=isimple+tranzit

It works very well, in my opinion. It's an FM modulated aux input, but it's all hardwired so even though it's technically using radio and transmit it doesn't sound like it. Plus you have multiple mounting options. You can either use their bracket/enclosure, or you can drill holes and mount them wherever you want to make a custom look. Install was very easy, the hardest part I had was trying to figure out which wire to use as a power source. It also gives you a USB plug to plug your device into for charging.

u/MarineR3con · 2 pointsr/Honda

Dont forget to buy a rca cable for the actual aux cord.

u/ShomesomeSho · 3 pointsr/cars

I installed one of these and it works great for me. It basically plugs inline into the antenna and broadcasts directly to the antenna. Then you tube your radio to that station. I've never had a problem with it. Plus it adds a charging port in the car.

u/k20a19k · 1 pointr/CarAV

OK, so 2 Cables exist to adapt an aux to the CDA-9856 one is the Line-in AI-NET adapter:

https://www.amazon.com/Alpine-Ai-net-Auxiliary-Input-Adapter/dp/B003000T80

and the other is:

If you have the old iPhone 4 style 30 pin iPod connector you MAY just try an apple 30 pin to lighting adapter But I hazard a guess that it does data and charging only and you would need the aux cord anyway because that's how some were back then you needed both.

of course you may pull the deck and see if there is the AI-Net plug in there already just not extended to the dash, it looks like this.

If you haven't already, look into the Clarion M508. A lot of folks that don't like the look of modern aftermarket stereos like those. Run a Google Image search on it, and you'll see they look right in place and period correct in older cars like ours.

But if you're really set on keeping the stock stereo, and just want AUX. Assuming your LS has the unit with the CD player, you can buy this here. It plugs into the CD Changer hole in the back of the stock stereo, then converts that to two RCA inputs. Which then, you can buy this to convert the two RCA's to AUX.

You can then mount that AUX port somewhere of your choosing. This Integra owner mounted it on their center console.

Read the reviews on the first one, there's some good info there. It's basically the same thing as the link from honda-tech. I do not recommend the iSimple IS32 simply because it is an FM modulator. An FM modulator is certainly the easiest way to play your device in your car but the sound is lacking.

Are you using a ground loop isolator? You can connect it between the AUX port and the device you're connecting it to. I use this kit and the audio quality has been perfect for me so far: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B078W1HQCK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I wired this into my last Crown Vic. It worked well and it allowed me to replace the "Airbag off" light in front of the passenger into a USB port for charging. I didn't end up using their mounting plate, instead opting to dremel a small hole for the switch and another for the port into the trim surrounding my trunk release button. It takes over a radio station, you flip the switch to block out other radio signal and it's nice and clear.

Goliton AUX 3.5mm Cable Connect iPod iPhone MP3 Phone Audio to Mazda Car Player (2 Meter Long)

I got this for my 2006 Mazda 3 Hatch, installed in like 20 minutes. Drilled a hole into my glove-box and routed it there.

Honestly, it does the job. There is a barely discernible whine noise in the background that only comes up when heavily accelerating... likely do to the extra electricity the car puts out.

u/BarkWoof · 1 pointr/Android

I just found this item and I may get it. Some people seem to have problems with build quality (and compatibility with a few non-Infiniti cars), but Amazon handles returns really well if necessary.

u/Cola571 · 3 pointsr/Miata

If you want to be really cheap you can get one of these: Linky
I had one for a while and it worked pretty good. It did break after a while but it's so cheap that you can just get another.

u/devilinpoop · 2 pointsr/BMW

Hmmm. ok i have been doing research for those things all day today, and from what i have found out. this one is one of the least glitchy units. DICE one is supposedly never works. but do your research. And if you want a dashboard mount for an AUX input. i have found this kit.

I don't own any of this, mainly because i was searching today. and secondly i don't want to install it in the winter/fall. i don't have a garage :(

u/JuryDutySummons · 2 pointsr/mildlyinteresting

You have a 2006 mustang, I'm guessing? My stereo looks just like that.

To use the aux port you'll need to do a few things.

First thing, you'll need to get an "Ford Auxiliary Input Converter". They had them on amazon a while ago, but they seem to be out of stock. Here's the one I got. It was $80 or so when I got it.

It doesn't come with the cable or the mounting kit, so I bought this at the same time.

This video shows you how to access the stereo.

Personally, I ran the cable back to the center console box and mounted the input there. Now I can plug my cellphone into the audio and power and have it out of the way.

u/firebirdude · 6 pointsr/CarAV

Out of the two?? Cassette adapter I guess?

But they both suck. I'd recommend a hardwired FM modulator like this one. A tiny bit of install is needed. But it'll be damn near crystal clear audio regardless of where you drive, what interference is around you, etc. What year, make, model car?

u/cubbie4109 · 2 pointsr/BMW

Your car is an E39 and you can probably get an Aux cable and DIY the project, here's a good link that shows how to do it.

u/drewson · 1 pointr/BMW

What is the production date on your car? If it is 09/02 or later, you could buy this or make your own for a fraction of the price. I made my own for my E39 and it works just like it should. The potential downside is that it does not offer iPod integration, which would prohibit you from changing the songs through the steering wheel or head unit, and you would have to just change it on your phone. If you have an 09/02+ production date, the cost trade off is worth doing without the Grom or Dice.

I use the Grom in my E46 because the headunit software does not support aux in. Grom offers two different cables to connect your audio input device. The standard one has an aux-in and a female charging-only USB, and the other one has an iPod connector allowing for integration. I don't know about iPhone 5 though.

Bottom line, what do you want to do with your phone plugged in? Just the basic function of having music or full phone integration?

u/dajohnnyboy · 2 pointsr/Miata

Oh, nope. The 06-08 does not have an aux Jack at all. You can add one with a cable with some special connector to the back of the radio. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006FFCONA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_.U8hzbEHA4NTM

u/InevitableRemix · 1 pointr/CarAV

These work pretty well. You still need to select an FM channel to use it on but when you power up the unit it cuts the actual radio signal. Its as clear as a direct AUX input.

u/reinhardtmain · 1 pointr/mazda3

Are you sure?
In my 06 all i had to do was pull the unit out and directly plug in the adaptor and a filter and I had aux.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006FFCONA/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/Bezzle59 · 2 pointsr/CarAV

Get something like this. Goes directly inline with the antenna so you won't have clarity issues like you would a normal FM transmitter. I assume you're gonna need these as well but I couldn't be sure w/o actually seeing the antenna plug for your radio.

u/andy__vee · 1 pointr/e39

There's an OEM aux connector, but it may require you to have a more current OBC/MID software version. The part number is 82 11 0 149 390 and here's an Amazon example.

u/ti-muh · 1 pointr/AndroidTV

That's correct. They basically are studio monitors with an active circuit and no remote.

What about transmitters like these: TaoTronics ?

Description says 40ms delay, which they praise as being lip-synch.

Reviews seem to suggest there is no noticeable delay.

Also I found this SMSL Sanksrit DAC. It's about 80 to 90 euros in Germany and has a remote.

But paying so much while not knowing how much better it sounds than the headphone out of the TV is very difficult to reason and pushes me into the direction of the bluetooth transmitter...don't know yet.

u/TDubTheSubBub · 1 pointr/mazda6

Well on my 06 the bose headunit has a plug for satellite radio that you can buy an adapter for on amazon to convert it into an aux port. Not sure if your year has that or not.

u/Sausgebombt · 13 pointsr/nostalgia

Same with my 03 Honda.

For a while I was using this thing that converted aux to a short range FM radio station you could tune to on your car radio. It kinda sucked tho.

Eventually I got one of these things (below) and installed it under my center console. It worked great and was total game changer.

u/capn_untsahts · 1 pointr/mazda

This is on a mazdaspeed6, which has a cubby box with a lid above the stereo on the dash. That's where I stuck my plugs. I bought the car used in February and it already had the mazda adapter cable, so I don't know which one it is, sorry :(

that's the 3.5 mm panel mount I used, its pretty much an extension cable with a mountable end that you stick in a hole you drill in the plastic, then I glued it in place with epoxy. The other end plugs into the mazda adapter cable.

haha get at them rotary sloots!

I used this cable for my 06 hatch to get an auxiliary port.

Connects to an empty socket in the back of the head unit is routed to the armrest storage. It is a lot easier to do than you would imagine. There is a few tutorials on youtube.

u/adrmapp · 1 pointr/Trucks

YES! turns out that AUX button is for a 9-pin port for adding a cassette player. I have previously did the same thing you wanted to do so i bought this converter and used this as the input. it hides well behind the radio and the only problem is finding where to put audio input. I personally drilled a hole into the middle console far right of the coin slots, if you have that.

also to note that the converter linked isnt a purchasable link. but used to give you a bit of an idea what to get

u/SiffLawd · 1 pointr/Ford

I recommend this kit to my customers and I'm running two of these myself. You will have to drill two holes one for the switch and one for the port but you can put them anywhere, they give you enough wire.

Amazon came up with this.

u/lurkinreddit · 1 pointr/mazda6

[this is what I used for connecting auxillary in] (https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B006FFCONA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_gv55Ab012FSMZ) the stock radio should have the same connectors on the back for either a 6cd player or satellite radio.

After connecting this you could get a higher quality Bluetooth reciever to plug into the auxillary input, and the cable is long enough to reach wherever you would want it to go. However, unless it plugs into your lighter socket, you most likely will have to turn the Bluetooth reciever on when you turn your car on.

u/darkscarybear · 3 pointsr/HomeNetworking

You need a Bluetooth transmitter. Something along the lines of this.

The one I linked is just an example, not a recommendation. Do due diligence. You are going to want a transmitter that has optical/RCA and/or 3.5mm inputs depending on your setup.

u/crackassmuumuu · 1 pointr/mercedes_benz

Just got a 2008 C350 myself. Check the glove box for an iPod connector - the 30-pin aux cable was an option. If you have one, you can plug in one of these.

u/Remy315 · 1 pointr/Honda

A lot of older cars - before 3.5mm jack ports and USB ports came standard - had the Aux button on the radio unit that simply gave the option to get the signal for an additional RCA audio ports in the back of the radio unit. These were used for headrest DVD players, CD Changers, etc. In theory, your radio would have RCA audio ports that would transfer the signal by using your Aux button on your dash. However, to make that work of you, you would need to install the RCA extension and install the 3.5mm input jack to be able to use it.

Dual hump dash is indeed hard on the eyes. I hate it!

I've not tried to use multimedia from USB to be honest.
I use this and I've hidden the cables under the dash. Works as Bluetooth for the car, its powered by USB and uses audio by connecting to AUX.

u/My3rdTesticle · 1 pointr/cars

Your car should have an AMI port and an AMI cable. Look it up. You may need to buy the cable if it's missing. Then you can plug in an iPhone and keep it in the glove box which is where the AMI port most likely is. Or you can buy a Bluetooth adapter so you can stream from any Bluetooth device.

u/evan1932 · 1 pointr/Miata

I bought this

Some people on Amazon complained about the aux hissing but I haven't heard it yet. Although the quietness of it does bother me, I may buy a separate amp/DAC to amplify the signal to the radio, it's frustrating to turn it up to 34 (max) when a couple of notches higher would make it perfect volume for any speed.

u/WorkKrakkin · 0 pointsr/CarAV

2007 honda accord with touch screen navigation. Maybe FM Adapter is the wrong term. FM Modulator maybe? It isn't like the ones that broadcast your input over a certain frequency. When I put my stereo on a specific channel it somehow makes a physical connection to this after market thing. Or at least that's how the guy explained it to me. So theoretically it's a pure aux line.

I think this(https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004613FCE) is basically the same thing, except mine doesn't have a usb port.

u/leafinthepond · 2 pointsr/MINI

I have a 2005 MINI and installed this aux cord a few years ago. I plugged it into the correctly shaped spot in the back of the radio and it worked no problem. You press the mode button twice, and it switches to aux. It was a little tough to plug in; at first I thought it wasn't working, but it was just that I hadn't pushed it in all the way.

If you have done all that, then there is probably something else wrong and you might want to take it in.
