Does he have a beard? Beard oil is always cool. I'm getting some for my bro from here. I looked around on etsy and that seemed to be one of the more reasonably priced, but there was one featured on sharktank recently too that may have more brand recognition?

I got my bro this a few years ago, he loved it!

Got one of these for each of my brothers this year.

You'd have to get it filled with helium at like a party city or something, but this seems so awesome.

This shop has amaaaaazing prints of old presidents doing crazy shit. Got this Teddy one for my dad for xmas this year & got another for a random office gift exchange. Can't wait to see them fight over it haha.

Is your brother into the whole zombie thing? I got this for my bro's bday. Put it in a cool frame and shiz, it looks awesome.

Does he like grilling? I think these cedar plank things look awesome and would be well-received by most guys who like to grill. They have some other gift pack things too.

I got my bro Sriracha salt last year and he really liked it. There are tons of places on etsy that sell it. In fact, if he's really into sriracha (I have a friend who steals a bottle from every restaurant that has it) you could do a sriracha gift basket. Sriracha salt, sriracha peas, sriracha beef jerky, sriracha chocolate, sriracha chips, sriracha socks. All of those can be found on amazon or just a normal grocery store.

I love that you already listed the berries that change your tastebud thing, I'm planning on bringing a gift basket to an exchange with those and some lemons/limes/grapefruit. I've been suggesting that to a bunch of people on here too haha, it's pretty universal.

This looks so amazing.

Is he into camping or the outdoors? This would be cool. Supposedly you can drink straight from a river and not die.

I just think this is awesome.

Oh! Marc Johns books are amazing. This one always works as a great gift. Idk if you can preview any of the pages but it basically has weird/random pictures and weird/random/sometimes uplifting messages.

Welllp, that's all I can think of right now, hopefully something helped or gave you some ideas! :)

Couple of suggestions:

  • Stephen King: The Dark Tower (series)
  • Derren Brown: Tricks of the Mind
  • Simon Singh: The Simpsons and their Mathematical Secrets
  • Mark Hadden: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time
  • J. K. Rowling: Harry Potter
  • Mark Leigh: Pets with Tourette's

Don't what your interested in, but the above is pretty good all round list.

The Dark Tower books are an amazing read. Fantasy fiction. 7 books in the series, with an 8^th written latter that is kinda supposed to be in the middle somewhere. It is an addictive read, and yet I haven't finished it yet. I'm not very good at describing books, and I don't want to ruin it at all. So I'm afraid you'll have to look up reviews. But they are brilliant, and I really must finish them!

Derren Brown is (if you don't know) a British illusionist with an absolutely unbelievable set of skills. He is constantly de-bunking psychics, and magic in general, while at the same time making you believe he is magic (even if you have absolutely no belief in magic at all)! This book explains some of the tricks he does, and how to perform a lot of things. From simple disappearing coins, to insane memory capabilities. Very interesting read. Another one that is really hard to put down.

The Simpsons Mathematical Secrets book is something I found accidentally while being really nerdy and watching this video. It turns out that a lot of The Simpsons writers are mathematicians. These guys slip nerdy Easter Eggs into the episodes, and Simon goes through them all. The video linked talks about how numbers should be difference for the Simpsons, as they only have 4 fingers (3 and a thumb) where as we have 5. This makes us use a base 10 number system, they should use a base 8 number system. Fundamentally changing things like Pi. The writers knew this. But there is one, and only one, character in The Simpsons who has 5 fingers (4 and a thumb), and so this is why they live in a decimal world - The only character is God, and he controls the number system for some reason.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time is a book I had to read in school. It is an amazing diary like "murder mystery novel like no other". It is narrated by a 15 year old boy with Asperger's Syndrome. It has been a while since I read this, so I don't remember a lot about it, but I remember reading it a couple of times before the rest of my class got around to finishing it. Not a long book, but a very good one!

I included Harry Potter, because its an obvious choice. It's also the only one from the above that I've finished (other than The Curious Incident). I've finished all 7 books. But never got around finishing the others (only got the Simpsons one for Christmas). If you haven't seen the films, read the books first. They are 100 times better. Seriously. But the films are like icing on the amazing cake that is HP, so don't avoid them either. This isn't just a kids book/film like some people assume.

Pets with Tourette's is a picture book. Not for kids. The things these pets say sometimes, disgraceful.

Can't think of any others, but probably because it is 4am here. Hahaha.

    EDIT: Grammar and formatting errors.

Comfy Clothes/Pajamas

There are so many cute outfits and pajama sets on sale this time of year. They usually even come bundled up, neatly folded and tied with a pretty bow. Target, Kohls, and Marshalls have goof selections.

Old Navy usually has super comfortable waffle-knit tops, fleeces, and sweaters, usually for $12 or less.

There's always these slippers: https://www.amazon.com/Doctor-Who-Womens-TARDIS-Slippers/dp/B00KMR92C8/

And this shirt seems pretty popular: https://www.amazon.com/Ripple-Junction-T-Shirt-Charcoal-Heather/dp/B00G31LGTE/

Cats

Does she have a cat of her own? If so, consider getting a fun treat for the cat.

She might get a laugh out of this book: https://www.amazon.com/Sorry-Barfed-Other-Heartwarming-Letters/dp/1449427049/

If not, every sale from this site goes to support animals. These socks are pretty cute:

Crocheting

Could she use some yarn?

u/melrom · 3 pointsr/GiftIdeas

Another question I should've asked -- do you think he would like more of an experience gift (like /u/i-just-never suggested) or a material object?

If a material object is your goal, I know they make some nice hunting jackets that have down in them (but also contain cotton). Other things like this that contain cotton would be camo hat, shirt, boots, work gloves, etc -- depends if he needs or wants anything like that currently. Since he likes the outdoors a lot, those fancy WeatherTek (or similar brand) mats for his car could be good but obviously that doesn't involve cotton -- just thought it ties in with both the outdoorsy and car aspects.

In terms of experience gifts, I don't know your geographical location but sometimes there are racing events you can attend or even like 'driving experiences.' Even Formula 1 go-karting can be fun.

PS A pretty funny gift on the side could be that Crap Taxidermy book (https://www.amazon.com/Crap-Taxidermy-Kat/dp/1607748207/) since taxidermists sometimes use cotton. I know, way outside of the box here. :P

Sometimes we incorporate the theme for the "yearly" tradition in smaller ways (i.e., hat, socks, etc) and then are a bit freer to give something else that might be more desired or useful. For example, a quality multi-tool (which you can have engrained) might be something he uses every time he goes hunting for years to come whereas Moose-On-The-Loose boxers a novelty. XD

  • This book of cats I love this. Its so cute. If you have encountered Humans of New York, this book is exactly like that except for cats. How cool is that! It's called Felines of New York! The cuteness kills me!

  • This camera I absolutely do not need. I already have a really good camera, but there is something about instant cameras that is so cool. I have a printer. I have a camera, but this is so much cooler to me. I bet its nostalgia. I remember when I was six and living in India. We had this Polaroid camera. It used to amaze me so much. I still have the camera but I don't think it works. Plus I think this is cool for scrap booking. I want it so much. O.o

  • [This machine beautiful machine] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000F7DPEQ?colid=Q889D78XZRY7&coliid=I1DAUH4ZOAMYSA&ref_=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl) The settings) because I've been stitching stuffed animals all by hand and that takes AGES! Also I'm not the best at hand stitching so a machine would help. Plus I can make cat clothes. Hahaha.

I Am Maru

I love Japan because of its interesting history. I'm not really into anime or stuff like that, but I love reading about the history of japan before like the 1900s. And I would like the item because maru is awesome and adorable.

thanks for the contest!

u/3dPrintedOG · 2 pointsr/Adam_fkn_Ellis_again

There's a bit of conflation going on here as I see it, three strands being twisted into one:

(1) Adam is successful

(2) He is an artist

(3) He is a internet persona

(1) Is he successful? In a way this depends how you measure it. He was casting about for a few years, doing caricatures to pay his rent, redditing to get exposure for his mildly successful toon/blog crossover thing, and spin off merch etc. I guess that didn't pay as well as he'd liked so he started working for buzzfeed. If you've seen any of the other regular contributors you'll realise the bar is about as high as the other kinds of content they produce, which is at a height that would challenge a limbo dancing ant. He simply stuck it out longer at the content farm and became a 'senior' by default. His gain is a wider audience for his spin off merch

(2) I won't deny he does make stuff which he has (at some point) drawn and coloured - however there is no spark of creation or passion in this stuff which consists of basically trying to make new relatable memes by copy and pasting his own stuff from his own stuff on a daily basis (something we can all do). It is the equivalent of any pre-internet syndicated letratone cartoon. Those guys paid the bills with their "Take my wife ... please"-desert island-missionaries and cannibals faire. And while they are representative of a certain time period they don't really speak about the human condition in any meaningful way as they simply coast the then zeitgeist.

(3) This last point is where being successful gets muddied. If he were successful commercially we'd already be going to Adam Ellis Land and going to see films drawn in his style. If he were artistically successful then more people would be trying to copy him seriously rather than to take the piss. I see him more a Mc Gonogal (in)famous for failing spectacularly at his chosen means of expression.

u/gingerneko · 1 pointr/cats

A good resource to have on hand is the Cat Owner's Manual. It's illustrated, actually entertaining to read, and covers a lot of the basics of cat care.

I will second a lot of the recs below:

  • A water fountain is awesome; cats will drink much more water if it's clean and moving.
  • Talk to your vet for food recs; don't buy cheap.
  • Clipping claws can become easier if you follow the method described below to accustom your kitty to the process.
  • Scratching posts/pads are crucial, and there are lots of types -- I keep some of each kind, but you'll want both vertical and horizontal scratchers.

Toys can be any of a wide variety. One called Da Bird is almost universally popular. Catnip toys are always a hit, just consider the size and shape so they can be picked up and carried by the kitty. 'Kicker' toys are almost always a hit. I've had good luck with floppy fish, mylar crinkle balls, and soft spongy foam balls as well.

Ooooh awesome!

  1. Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut. A tragic comedy, it tells in a wonderful way the toils of religion and the euphoria of love. A dystopian romantic fantasy, and apart from #2 the best book I've ever read.

  2. Mother Night by Kurt Vonnegut. A comedic tragedy, the story of a man in love and in desperation and in trouble. We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be. Quite probably my favorite book ever, and I think everybody should read it.

  3. Technically it's a play, but The Pillowman by Martin McDonagh. A really well written dark and disturbing story about a man in a totalitarian investigation. But it still manages to be hilarious in all the most deep and worrying ways. It's definitely my favorite play, and is really amazing.
u/theFlipside619 · 17 pointsr/actuallesbians

Pass her a note. I am reading this book and I happen to love poetry and the author gave me a great idea to write haikus to lovely ladies. Seriously just write a short note with a clever haiku and I promise you, you'll get a decent response from her.

I am starting to keep a pen and paper with me at all times.

Here's a starter haiku

I know you don't know

me. But your smile makes me blush.

Here is my number?

edit: for you tech dependent gals, you can change "number" to "Insta", "Tinder", "Snapchat", lol. ;)

Honestly, I usually pick my colouring books based on how easy they are to colour (I like thick lines and not too many small finicky areas). Right now, my favourites are [the Pusheen Colouring Book] (https://www.amazon.ca/Pusheen-Coloring-Book-Claire-Belton/dp/1501164767) because it's just super cute and the designs are quick and easy to colour, and this [Art Therapie] (https://www.amazon.ca/ART-TH%C3%89RAPIE-NOUVEAUX-COLORIAGES-ANTI-STRESS/dp/2012314732) one, it's got a great variety of patterns, mostly either abstract/geometric designs or flowers. And I especially love that it has a bunch of cool kaleidoscope type designs. I would also recommend getting some decent colouring pencils. Upgrading my pencils a bit made a huge difference for me because it's so much easier to get a good solid colour and the end result is just a lot more rewarding. Right now I'm using these pencils, they're not much more expensive than some cheap Crayolas, but they make a big difference.

I'm a first grade teacher. Here is my funny.

There is a little guy in my class who has an extremely vivid imagination. He is also very bright and very much into fairy tales and fantasy.

One day, after school, the following conversation occurred. It is 100% verbatim. I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried.

Welcome to first grade.

Student: Can I tell you something that might make you upset?

Me: Of course, you can tell me anything.

Student: Well, I was really mad the other day when you clipped me down to "think about it."

Me: I can understand that. The good news is, you turned your behavior around and were able to clip back up. That's what it's all about, making better choices!

Student: (ignoring my encouraging reflection) I was so mad I wanted to take out my magic seashell...turn myself into a girl so you wouldn't recognize me...and marry (my husband's name) to hurt your feelings!

Me: (absolutely dumbfounded and trying not laugh hysterically) Wow buddy. You're right, that would hurt my feelings. I am really glad you decided again that...

I desperately need this book "I Could Chew on This: And Other Poems by Dogs. Based on your post, I feel like you probably need it too. Hehe.

Thanks for the contest and enjoy all of the entertainment!

Oh oh! Her sister might really like this framed Sweet Buddha poster - a robot climbing a donut mountain to reach a chocolate Buddha. Really. I absolutely love it, so I might be biased. Or maybe a beautifully decorated indigo scarf?

Hm, if her mom has a sense of humor, maybe Sorry I Pooped in Your Shoe (and Other Heartwarming Letters from Doggie), I Could Chew on this and other Poems or the highly acclaimed (and more serious) A Dog's Purpose.

u/dondeestalalechuga · 2 pointsr/CasualConversation

Haha, I think you can probably spin anything! If not then I'm sure this would work.

Ah, he started with a whirly pop too, it worked pretty well. I think a good heat thermometer is useful if you want to have accuracy / consistency with your roasts - he uses an infrared laser type thing so he can get an idea of the bean temperature.

There's a whole section of pick up strategies in The Lesbian Sex Haiku Book (with Cats!). There are some in this article, but others are only in the book, like how to pick-up specific types of lesbian:

The DIY Lesbian

"My life has vastly
improved since I started to
roll my own tampons."

The sporty lesbian

"Is that Old Spice that
you're wearing, or... is that Old
Spice that you're wearing?"

The straight-looking lesbian

Say literally
anything - she's thrilled someone
is talking to her.

I'm also about to do a road trip with two other scientists! Here are some awesome books that either I've read, or I plan on reading on my trip:

Contact - Carl Sagan. This book is absolutely my favorite science-y fiction, ever.

Cat's Cradle or Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut, if you haven't read them already.

Anything by Ray Bradbury - specifically Fahrenheit 451, also if you haven't read it already.

If you're into full-on science fiction, I can totally recommend the Ender's Game series by Orson Scott Card and the Hyperion series by Dan Simmons.

Whoa, that's pretty sweet of you!

I'd love Cat's Cradle, it's on my books wishlist and something I've been meaning to read for a long time!

u/SuperManu187 · 1 pointr/dogs

I bought the Dog Owner's manual because i thought it would be funny, turns out it is full of useful information, like they even teach you how to do the CPR on a dog.
since I'm in Canada, here is the link to amazon.ca but i'm pretty sure you can find it somewhere else.

Not a gadget, but my BFF's grandma really loves the lolcats book, though maybe not as much as we loved listening to her confusedly read through it.

Grumpy Cat book XD in my most wanted/default list :) Glitter

Hey Marshaaaa :)

u/iliketoworkhard · 56 pointsr/CatTaps

This is not even the best of Maru's box adventures - https://youtu.be/2XID_W4neJo

And the book about him is as good, he was (if possible) even cuter as a kitten and loved putting his belly on cold floors - https://www.amazon.com/dp/0062088416/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Qq27Ab95X6S3X

u/CherryCandee · 6 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

The best thing I've found to keep our clothes free of cat hair is a dryer. Every time we throw a load of clothes we get a lint trap FULL of hair; we tried the lint roll and it wasn't awesome, same with the brushing every day, but nothing did the trick like the dryer.

I have a feeling Bounce also helps, as it's supposed to remove static, so the hair doesn't stick to the clothes as much.

EDIT: I should totally buy one of these books, I get so much cat hair on the lint trap!!

Put him in the litter box when he is going elsewhere. Use an oxygen or enzyme spray on spots where he goes and maybe try avoidance treatment in those places. Some of them are fun, like taping aluminum foil on flat surfaces kitty shouldn't be on.

There is actually a cat owner's manual available online:

Can someone please explain when "icanhascheezburger.com" became the poster child for lolcats? Not only are they frequently mentioned when "LOL Cats" is discussed in articles such as this, but they even put out a book, practically selling other people's works of art.

u/gimeit · 1 pointr/food

The Roadkill Cookbook. To be fair, I haven't actually tried any of the recipes so I don't know they're bad. But it stands to reason.

u/NaughtyMallard · 2 pointsr/cringe

Это называется лолспик, подразумевается, что высшие существа(буквально, пошло от потолочного кота) пишут верно, а мы - нет. По крайней мере так написано в переводе Библии на лолспик. Также есть lolcode - язык программирования на основе лолспика, пример:

KTHXBYE

In the middle of Nowhere is a perfect place to practice gathering wild edible and medicinal plants. Just be DEAD sure you identify it correctly. Road kill is always available. I passed a cat this morning but I had already eaten breakfast so I left him there. How about a bug?

u/zenzizenzizenzike · 6 pointsr/secretsanta

There's a great book on how to make cocktails out of semen called Semenology: The Semen Bartender's Handbook. They did say "any".

Also great: Crap Taxidermy

I want the first one, but I can vouch for the second. The finest crappy taxidermy you'll find in a book under $10.

OP’s late so I did some as much digging as I could.

The source for the blotter art seems to come from The Lesbian Sex Haiku Book With Cats that contains this image (sorry for crappy link, automod deletes Etsy and google images links).

I also found two other people that had the finalized blotter. This guy first and then this guy.

Alas, I couldn’t find any purchasable unlaid tabs.
