This book is about the song Hallelujah (which is a beautiful song) and how it became to be one of the most recorded songs in history. It was originally kind of a failure but somehow made it to the place where it is today where it has been performed by hundreds of musicians. I find it amazing that this song that almost didn't make it onto the album it was originally written for. When it did make it to the album it was a flop, yet here we are listening to this song that has become so popular.

Get a good brush, try a few styles and see if she likes or tolerates brushing. Every cat I've ever had except one will tolerate it, and as long as you do even a few minutes every few days, it generally keeps them from matting. My newest kitty actually loves being brushed, if I offer "brushies" or pick up his brush he will start doing circles in front of me until I start. It even calms him down when he is nervous. I use a plain $7 or so wire brush from Petsmart on him and it does well at keeping his shedding down.

If she shows interest in climbing, you will need a LARGE and sturdy cat tree, not the cheap ones usually found first in searches. I like the Molly and Friends brand but they are hard to find, I've seen some good sturdy ones at Costco and my local pet stores. There is a brand called "Newcat" (I think) on Amazon which looks like it might be a good option but I haven't tried them (yet, they are on the list as a possible replacement tower.)

For the shyness, I've found that getting down on kitty's level and facing away from them helps them feel safe to approach, and holding out a hand palm down so they can come up and sniff or bump to consider pets. Also most cats are food motivated and the Inaba Churu paste treats are the best thing I've found for luring kitty to you and giving them a positive association. They work so well I use them as bribes for my asthma kitty, she gets a bit of paste every time she uses her inhaler and will actually run to the bathroom (where she gets dosed) as soon as she knows it is time.

I'm sorry to hear about your Buddy, dear. I couldn't imagine the loss. I am so scared for my two little bears, it's just a feeling I can't toss.

This is nine year old Netti and her young friend Spaghetti, they are my heart and soul. They've brought me such joy by destroying their toys, but their playing can be hard to control.

So my item is this, it's a wonderful gift and may mellow my little bears out. Or it could not work and go in reverse, then they will just have to go without.

Also, pancakes make the world taste better =]

I bought a huge bag of catnip a while back from Amazon I gave a few little bags of it to friends with cats and the rest I have been using for tea. It is not particularly tasty at first but after a while you get used to it and honey or sugar helps with the flavor. I drink it before bed, it has a nice calming and relaxing effect. From what I've heard from my friends it's the most potent catnip they've given to their cats.

I use clicker (same as my dog, I use "yes").
Just a word of caution: With cats, it takes a LOT of patience haha. Also, I did lots of yes-treat in her kitten-hood days.

So for giving paw, here is what I did:

  1. Get a treat that she likes. I use boiled chicken or temptation

  2. hold the treat at the shoulder level to your cat. Her natural response should be to paw at it. If she tried to get it with her mouth slightly back off. Wait for her to paw at it, immediately say yes and give her the treat.

  3. repeat many many times.

The hardest thing I taught muffin was lie down. I literally tried for a month, every day. I cried when she finally did it.

I have a cat who started out feral, and it still is deep in her personality, 10 years later. Here's a few of my rules of thumb when interacting with her:

  • Always give her a way out. If she startles, back off right away, and she won't run away. If you don't back off, she'll bolt. Just by moving away a few feet, you might be able to get her to calm down more quickly. Then, step two.

  • Petting the nape of the neck is calming for her. So is purring. If you can learn to do this, you'll be able to calm her down right away and let her know it's cuddle-time. If she was feral for a while, she probably won't learn a lot of the human body language that domesticated kittens do.

  • The world's best previous-feral cat toy is a feather on a string on a stick. Learn to spin it (this is what your cat sees) and your cat will love it forever. Doubly so if you soak it in catnip oil. Yes, that is Bill the Cat on the bottle.

  • Get a cat tree or two. Give kitty some ownership of your place. Also, they'll scratch it instead of the people furniture.

You're in Pennsylvania, too? Hi! We're in the EDT zone. :-P get your zoo on gurl

This cat toy is $6.99 with free shipping (through Amazon Marketplace) or this catnip for $4.99 as an add-on item ($5.99 with free shipping through Amazon Marketplace). If that doesn't work, I do have Pet Sematary on my WL...

This right here is like crack for my cat. And it's a blast watching him after he has some. Congrats on the new family member! I love my pet

u/littlemisstigger · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

An album of my cats, Trinity & Andromeda. We got them as kittens and it has been crazy to see how bit they have gotten. They get along really well with the little two legged human we have, which is nice.

This catnip seems to be their absolute favorite.

u/mewnekoATX · 1 pointr/smallbusiness

MewNeko. We are now selling silvervine sticks through Amazon. What is silvervine? It's a non-toxic vine, related to kiwi. The entire plant (vine, leaves, and fruit) causes a euphoric response in cats, just like catnip. It's known in Asian countries, but not so much in the US. We want to change that.

For the rest of the month we are having a buy 3 get 10% off promo.

Some cats like to scratch vertical things or horizontal things. Buy a scratching post that sits on the floor, like this:

My cats kong cat nip and it comes with a free toy

u/NottingHillNapolean · 3 pointsr/selfpublish

I had to take my cat off of Amazon when $500 worth of this stuff showed up at my door.

u/sunshinenfundip · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I would get catnip from my crochet WL so I can make kitty toys for everyone's cats😺

u/gloomduckie · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Sorry you had a bad day :( Watching my cat play with catnip always cheers me up :)

u/kmarple1 · 1 pointr/blackcats

I got her from a local no-kill shelter. :P

Silvervine, on the other hand, you can get from Amazon (example). I haven't found it for sale domestically, and most of what's online seems to be imported from Asia. It's a little pricey, but worth trying at least once. Jeane doesn't react to catnip at all, but goes nuts on silvervine.

u/RedDelibird · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I would go with the puppy and the adventures.

This fluffy fatcat is by far and away the weirdest cat I've known. He'll cuddle one minute, run away, come back, claw you, then cuddle again. All in the span of 10 minutes.

This would make him happy... because... well... it's catnip.

Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.

I was doing my study abroad in Paris and had a class I had to dash to. There wasn't much option for eating near my dorm so I stopped at a Subway (I know, I'm ashamed to this day) and grabbed a sandwich and a cup for soda.

Finished the meal on the train, went to put my sandwich trash in my drink cup and there were about 100 ants crawling around in there. I had been drinking ants my whole train ride.

Almost vomited everywhere. Gag me with a spoon

catnip for my cutie

Guys this is catnip. Stop the witch hunt. If it's not home grown I'm willing to bet it's this: https://www.amazon.com/Meowijuana-Catnip-Purple-Passion-Large/dp/B00U6DJCR8
