Here's a few that I have and love

Dave Matthews Band - Crash: All analog master and cut by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering and pressed at MPO. Some bias, because I'm the resident DMB fan on r/vinyl, but this is a perfect release and what every band should model anniversary vinyl releases after. If Radiohead had done this with OK Computer, it would have been 1000x better; missed chance. Anyways, this is a must have for any DMB fan. $30 on Amazon

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magik: All analog cut. Not sure if Bellman did this or Grundman himself, but it was cut at BGM. Maybe one of the best sounding remastered albums in my collection. It's extremely detailed and "revealing". Definitely recommend picking this up, both on the quality and the music itself - one of the best albums of the early 90's. $30 on Amazon

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium: Another all analog mastering and cut RHCP album, this one by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray. All versions (original, deluxe, and reissue) use the same stampers. It's a rarity that a 2006 album was recorded analog, so it's wonderful they kept the vinyl AAA. Full bass, and a really detailed high end. Highly recommend if you're into the band, it's a steal at $33 for a 4xLP

Nirvana - In Utero: Released for the album's 20th anniversary, this was a direct metal mastering and cut that used the albums original cut and contains a bonus disc featuring alternate mixes. There was also a version released in 2013 with all alternative mixes and was also all analog. Both are great and fully dynamic, though I prefer the original mix. Whichever mix you prefer, go with that version, you won't be let down.
$50 shipped (lowest available) for the 20th Anniversary release | $25 for the 2013 mix thru Walmart

Nirvana - Nevermind: Bernie Grundman mastered this one himself, and keeping with the theme from above this is all analog as well. Maybe the best album of the 90's, this is (in my opinion) the ultimate version of it. This master was released by ORG in 2009, but it was released again from the Geffen label using the same stamper in 2013 and pressed at Pallas. $24 on Amazon

Van Morrison - Moondance: This is the 2008 release, mastered and cut analog by Steve Hoffman & Kevin Gray at Acoustech and pressed at RTI. There's a really good discussion about this remaster and specifically the mix of Into the Mystic over at the Steve Hoffman Forums. $18 on Amazon

Phish - Junta/A Picture of Nectar/Lawn Boy/Rift/Hoist: All of these Phish albums are fan-freaking-tastic sounding. Bellman did them all at BGM and used all analog sources and cuts for each, minus Rift which was cut from hi-res digital files. All can be found at Phish Dry Goods for $50 each. A bit pricey but well worth it IMO!

The Beatles - 2014 Mono Remasters: If you want the ultimate, most true to the original, Beatles releases; this is what you want. These are all analog and do everything to mimic the UK first press releases. There's always good debate about Mono/Stereo for The Beatles, but there's no debate that these are top notch releases. You can buy the whole box for ~$350 or each release individually for $15-$25 each if you search for each on Amazon

There's really an endless amount of good, affordable, new records with great sound. Check out Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (MoFi/MFSL), Analogue Productions, Analog Spark, Music Matters, among others. MOV also does great work, though they generally use hi-res digital rather than tape to cut from. Also, look for the mastering engineers I mentioned above - Chris Bellman, Bernie Grundman, Steve Hoffman; plus Kevin Gray, Scott Hull, among others

(I posted this comment elsewhere, but I don't think it has been seen much.)

Personal note: Gravity and the Church Clothes are two of the best hip-hop albums to come along this decade, in my opinion. I don't know Lecrae Moore personally at all, I've just been a fan since 2009.

Here is where you can download Church Clothes for free, legally.

I bought Gravity at Best Buy for $9.99. The Best Buy edition comes with two exclusive bonus tracks.

Here's where you can download the deluxe iTunes edition of Gravity with three bonus tracks (one of which, "No Regrets," is already available on the the Church Clothes mix tape) and a music video.

Here's where you can buy the standard, slightly cheaper iTunes release of Gravity.

If Amazon is your thing, here's where you can download the standard, no frills version of Gravity.

And here's where you can order the standard physical edition of Gravity from Amazon.

The route I went was buying the physical Best Buy exclusive version, then downloading the two iTunes exclusive bonus tracks (excluding "No Regrets," already on Church Clothes). For a total of around $13, it's the cheapest way to legally get the entire Gravity experience.

In conclusion, I encourage any fan of hip-hop & rap, especially the Southern variety, to check out Lecrae. If you don't want to give up your money immediately, download the Church Clothes mix tape and see if you enjoy it. Gravity equals, and in some places exceeds it, in quality.

Hello drowgirl!

I would LOVE the new Skillet album if I am lucky enough to win!

For you, I'd recommend either an album by Seether (I like a lot of the songs on this one) or a different album by Skillet (the only reason I recommended this one for you instead of the one I linked for me is because I've heard this one and know I like it and I haven't heard the new one I linked for me yet).

I'd recommend either of these two albums for you because it looks like we have fairly similar tastes in music, and I first discovered Skillet when I created an "Evanescence" station on Pandora and they have quickly become one of my favorites. I discovered Seether through Evanescence as well through Seether's song "Broken" featuring Amy Lee.

Thank you so much for the contest!

Gospel is tough. It never got properly written into music history (it's usually thought of as something rock & roll was built off of) and collecting-wise SO MUCH of it is on tiny vanity labels from unknown groups. But I have some recommendations.

The Relatives are still performing and are one of the most incredible live shows I've ever seen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RLHpGBS_LA

Rev Johnny "Hurricane" Jones has been comped on at least two CDs. They often feel like sort of musical services, so I wouldn't say that all his songs have the same momentum as this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V36xHEMOSiA but he can definitely work up a frenzy.

And the best Gospel compilation that ever was is the multiple CD set called "Fire in my Bones". It can definitely be pretty raw (which I think is a good thing) but I listen to it ALL THE TIME.

If you're OK to dig around for 45s, I would suggest keeping an eye out for labels like Songbird, HSE, and Peacock. It helps if you live in the South.

|name|Neal Morse|
|about artist|As a young musician, Neal’s dream was like many others—to find success in the pop music world. But after years of struggling in the Los Angeles singer-songwriter scene, he realized that this dream would not materialize. Eschewing conventional wisdom, Morse took a courageous step: He about-faced and devoted himself to progressive rock, the music truly in his heart. The obscure and fiercely competitive genre held little chance of commercial success. ([more on last.fm](http://www.last.fm/music/Neal Morse))|

Like it was previously said, Ascend The Hill - Hymns is an absolutely fantastic collection of modernized hymns and the best part is the album is free. I linked it for you.

I don't think there's much I can add that hasn't already been said. Citizens are fantastic and do some classic hymns, as well as Kings Kaleidoscopic. More on Mars Hill bands can be found HERE

There's also a album that just recently came out called Jesus Firm Foundation: Hymns of Worship that's probably exactly what you're looking for. A lot of contemporary artists worked together to put out an album of purely worship songs. The hymn Jesus Firm Foundation is actually getting decent radio play right now and is a collaboration between Mike Donehey (Tenth Avenue North), Mark Hall (Casting Crowns), Mandisa, and Steven Curtis Chapman. SOunds like that might be a perfect album for you :)

u/Gabriel_Aurelius · 10 pointsr/TrueChristian

I actually used to be a Christian Dj a long time ago, and I've kept up with the music (I actually haven't had time in the last year, so some of this may be older, but hyperlinks to Amazon are included - I'm sure most are on iTunes as well). I broke them down by what I consider the top 6 genres of music that MOST people listen to - I excluded genres like classical, chanting, opera, country, etc. These are all Christian artists that happen to love making music that I enjoy. Many of these artists have additional albums, but I linked the ones I know I like. EXPLORE!!!

Recommendation: hold down the left Control button when you click on a link so it opens in another tab. ;)

You can get the soundtrack on Amazon for pretty cheap, it's well worth it: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000EGD05W

I've played through this game so many times, I've lost count, and I pretty much know the story front to back, what's got you confused? I might could clear some things up. And did you play the original version or the remake War of the Lions? If you played the original, I highly recommend playing the remake (available on PSP, iOS, or Android), as it adds content and cleans up the translation and really brings it up a notch to better tie it together with Final Fantasy XII, which is also in Ivalice if you weren't aware and haven't played it.

u/TheCheshireCody · 3 pointsr/todayilearned

One of the things I think makes Cash so awesome is that his emotions are completely on the surface when he sings. You can tell when he's singing with someone he admires and likes (in the case of Bob Dylan) or loves (in the case of June Carter Cash). I think what I was trying to say is that he doesn't sing any differently - inflection, timing, level of improvisation - when singing with someone else than they do solo. If Johnny did two takes of the same song back-to-back, one with June and one solo, and you played just his parts I don't think you'd hear a significant difference. It's not like Bing Crosby & Fred Astaire, the legendary Bing & David Bowie version of 'Little Drummer Boy', Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong or anything by Simon & Garfunkel, Hall & Oates, Crosby Stills & Nash, Peter Paul & Mary or any of the great harmony groups. It's also why I think the best-selling Frank Sinatra 'Duets' sets were artistic failures even if they were commercial blockbusters. Frank refused to be in the studio with any of the artists (except maybe one or two), recorded all of his parts, which were then sent to the other artists to sing along to, and it shows.

Those are both awesome songs, BTW. I'm not sure I'd ever heard 'Daddy Sang Bass' actually. Great interpolation of different sources and genre-switching, which was another real strength of Cash's. There's a fantastic three-disc set that Columbia put out a while back called Love, God, Murder that really showcases three of Johnny's primary musical facets.

I don't know if you're familiar with Nick Cave, but if you want to hear the closest thing we have to Cash currently, he would be it, and is an amazing artist in his own right. Phenomenal songwriter and interpreter of others' material and a great emotive singer with a range of subject matter equaling Cash (Cave's 'Murder Ballads' CD and the next two CDs he put out, 'The Boatman's Call' and 'No More Shall We Part', really show this to great effect).

I'm a real fan of Lex de Azevedo. He's an LDS composer, and I first listened to his music when my family sent me [Vol. 2 - Variations on a Sacred Theme] (http://www.amazon.com/Vol-2-Variations-Sacred-Theme/dp/B0008IUSDI/ref=pd_sim_m_1) for my birthday on my mission. It was great to listen to during scripture study, and since I was introduced to it on my mission, all of the songs hold a special place in my heart. [Vol. 1] (http://www.amazon.com/Vol-1-Variations-Sacred-Theme-Azevedo/dp/B000FNGB00/ref=pd_sim_m_1) is good too, and it looks like he has some [other] (http://www.amazon.com/Mormon-Hymn-Classics-Lex-Azevedo/dp/B0007658P4) [stuff] (http://www.amazon.com/Mormon-Classics-Mighty-fortress-Volume/dp/B0002CE0A2/ref=pd_rhf_dp_s_cp_2_S8Q8) that I haven't even checked out yet.

u/MBgov1133 · 1 pointr/Xenoblade_Chronicles

To be honest, I'd recommend buying the OST if you have $30 to spare. It's definitely worth it. I mean, it's around 50 songs in total, with many tracks being double song tracks (meaning two songs in one song file), so you're essentially getting around 90 songs for the price of $30.

You've already been linked the Amazon Japan link (there's a button to view the website in English, if the Japanese is too much trouble).

If it's too much trouble to click the "In English" button on Amazon, CDjapan is also a good place to buy the OST.

u/PennyRaider · 1 pointr/nier

Anybody know if this Import version being sold on amazon NA has the bonus CD?

I wasn't referring to the song, actually, which I've never heard, but to this:

https://www.amazon.com/Fire-Bones-Otherworldly-African-American-1944-2007/dp/B002NACY72/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1501644375&sr=8-3&keywords=fire+in+my+bones

Out of print now, but maybe you can find a bootleg copy online?

I'm making dinner right now but will follow your links as soon as it's done. Thank you for your recommendations!

u/Heavykiller · 5 pointsr/nintendo

Maybe you somehow skimped over it because Best Buy tells you what it is exactly in the, "What's included" section.

It sucks, but was expected. Hell, as of right now the only way you can obtain the full soundtrack (legally) is by importing from Japan. It costs a whopping $63.80 not including tax. As cool as the full soundtrack would be and legit USB with more storage; It probably would have driven the cost of the special edition from $90 to probably well over $120 easy.

u/Alligator_Pie · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Here's my CD!

Thanks for the contest!

u/ilessthanthreemath · 1 pointr/nier

The listing on Amazon (US) doesn't mention anything about a bonus disc. There's another verified purchase that says that they didn't get the bonus disc, so I don't know.

$50.99 is a lot more than importing it, even after foreign transaction and shipping fees.

u/Pikagreg · 1 pointr/nier

I meant Amazon US for $50.99. They have a listing hidden if you go to "more sellers" sold directly from Amazon. It also shows Amazon US as the only seller on the SE page for the OST.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B01N7TGP1L/ref=tmm_acd_new_olp_sr?ie=UTF8&condition=new&qid=&sr=

u/Untitled_One-Un_One · 19 pointsr/nintendo

They sell the entire soundtracks for Xenoblade and XCX in Japan. You can import them from websites like CDJapan and Amazon.co.jp. That being said importing is a hassle and really expensive.

u/ROM_Bombadil · 3 pointsr/Christianity

You might like mewithoutyou. Certainly very different from Radiohead, but capturing the avant-garde/atmospheric side of Radiohead.

u/mx3orange · 2 pointsr/Xenoblade_Chronicles

That was the flashdrive from the collectors edition, which IIRC only had a few songs from the OST. The full soundtrack is on a 4 disk set. I got mine from Amazon Japan a while ago, along side the original Xenoblade soundtrack

u/vinylontubes · 2 pointsr/vinyl

First thing to do is research the Music Corner forums at stevehoffman.com. Discogs won't tell you the best pressing. The database isn't structured to do that there are too many noobs there. People outside of a few people that have large record collections aren't going to through all the effort to catalog their entire collection on discogs. I have about 2000 records and it took me a couple of months to get mine complete. Another source is analogplanet.com. Fremer reviews records and he compares them to older pressings.

If you want to know a few re-issues that worth the money that are still in print I'll give you my list.

Van Morrison's Astral Weeks, Moondance and His Band and Street Choir from 2008. These are as good as the original green labels. Cut by Kevin Gray (with Steve Hoffman on Moondance).

Paul Simon Graceland 25th Anniversary Edition cut by Ryan Smith

The only expensive one is Californication, all the rest are under $30 and you can probably find Electric Warrior for less money than Amazon.

If you notice the list is almost entire Chris Bellman and Kevin Gray. You can look them up on discogs. It will list records that they have cut. This won't tell you which to buy, but it will give you a starting point.

Not sure if I fully understand your question, but I'm talking about this one from Japan: http://www.amazon.com/Xenoblade-Chronicles-X-Original-Soundtrack/dp/B00VIQHREC/

I believe some people said it's missing a few instrumentals but besides that yeah it should have all the songs. As far as I'm aware no songs were changed for the US release.

You should get the OST if you have $30 to spare. Otherwise maybe soundcloud but ripping the audio from anywhere is illegal.
