Yup, I've always had android and people would always ask why. You tell them you get more options and more freedom. Now, just as the new Galaxy phones are becoming more and more restricted people are switching to them claiming the same thing. It's a little funny. Yes, Android is still far more "free" than iOS but it's becoming increasingly harder to find a free phone (expandable memory, removable battery, easy to take apart, etc)

Edit:
For those curious, I have an LG G4 and I love it, especially with this battery

u/cantthinkof-a-name · 2 pointsr/iPhoneXR

I’ve had mine since November of last year (so pretty much a 1 year ownership review). Battery life is amazing, and so is the performance. The camera is great, one of the best I’ve ever seen. When I first got it, battery got me through the entire day no problem. For cases, for the first few months I recommend a clear case (if you go colorful, I have blue), but after about 95% maximum battery capacity I recommend a battery case. (I can send you a link to a 6000mAh battery case on amazon for 30 bucks). If you have any questions just ask and I’d be happy to answer when I have the chance.

Edit: I’m going to go ahead and link the case here

u/apertusmea · 1 pointr/iphone

Had this problem but I picked up this case for $5 a few weeks ago.

iXCC 3100mah External Battery Backup Charging Case for Apple iPhone 6, 6s with Micro USB Input Mode - MFI Certified - White & Silver https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NX53T3E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_TLUPzbF2D0WGX

Honestly, for $5 it's a great solution and will last until upgrade (we're like 3 weeks out assuming you get lucky and get in on release).

u/ilessthanthreemath · 10 pointsr/GalaxyNexus

For those who are unfamiliar with the product, here it is on Amazon. It's an aftermarket battery for the LTE/CDMA Galaxy Nexus (Verizon, Sprint) that has three times the capacity of the standard battery.

ZeroLemon recommends that you condition the battery before real-world usage by draining it fully six times which I've done over the past week. The manufacturer also recommends that you only recharge the phone once you reach 2% even after conditioning the battery for "optimal use."

Test conditions:

  • SCH-i515 (Verizon) with FG02/FF02 radios

  • CyanogenMod 10.0/Android 4.1.2, stock kernel, no undervolting or manual frequency adjustments

  • 4G LTE radio always on (average recorded signal: -113dBm), did not drop down to 3G

  • Bluetooth radio on but mostly idle (car's Bluetooth unit connected for only ~30 minutes)

  • WiFi disabled

  • automatic brightness

  • usage: browsing the internet, watching videos on YouTube, playback of h.264 videos on /sdcard

  • speaker volume set at 50% or greater

    Test results:

  • battery stats - 20h12m

  • battery graph

  • screen on-time - 6h

Here are some other test results taken on previous days:

  • Mixed 4G/3G/WiFi usage: 1d5h uptime, 9h52m screen on-time

  • 4G only: 21h3m uptime, 6h26m screen on-time

    Problems:

  • heavy, bulky

  • case doesn't cover USB plug or headphone jack from dust or debris like the Otterbox Commuter

  • battery percentage reporting is occasionally inaccurate - ran battery down to 2%, left it alone for a while, came back and it said it had 5% left

  • battery dropped by 20% overnight (unsure if due to crappy signal)

  • call quality, speakerphone functions are neutered because the case covers the noise-cancellation microphone

  • speakers for audio playback are also neutered for the same reason, requiring volume to occasionally be turned up to 100%

  • questionable construction (sticky paper peeling off, made in China)

  • questionable long-term longevity

    Conclusion:

Despite the product's flaws, I'm very happy with its performance and would recommend it to anyone who hasn't already upgraded to a better phone. Instead of having to juggle between three extended batteries during the day or remembering to disable 4G LTE to save battery life, I can use the phone with all the features enabled without having to worry about making it through the day. It currently costs ~$40 on Amazon which I find reasonable considering that Samsung's 2100mAh extended battery is being sold for ~$15.

This is the one i got, purely because it had good reviews and was the biggest I could find:

LG G4 Battery Case, ZeroLemon LG G4 8500mAh TriCell Extended Battery + Soft TPU Full Edge Protection Case (Compatible with all LG G4 variants) (4897010519648) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01181ODJI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_7-Qwyb67383AC

There are however some other alternatives if you don't like the price or bulkiness of the zerolemon;

PowerBear LG G4 Extended Battery [6500mAh] & Back Cover & Protective Case (Up to 2.15X Extra Battery Power) - Black [24 Month Warranty & Screen Protector Included] https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZMLOHBA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_BaRwyb00TWPHF

Kranich Only Fits for LG G4 BL-51YF 8200mAh Extended Battery Replacement with Specialized TPU Protective Cover Case https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DM6XV2M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_wbRwybGASC54Y

And another thing, it's not widely stated but the LG G4 supports quickcharge/fastcharge so it's totally worth every penny to scoop up a quickcharger if you don't have one. I like the company Anker as I've been using them for years.

Anker Quick Charge 3.0 39W Dual USB Wall Charger, PowerPort Speed 2 for Galaxy S7 / S6 / Edge / Plus, Note 5 / 4 and PowerIQ for iPhone 7 / 6s / Plus, iPad Pro / Air 2 / mini, LG, Nexus, HTC and More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IUSYF8G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_LdRwyb94QRH6K

There are some other anker quickchargers as well if you only want 1 USB socket or if you want something like 8. And they vary from quickcharge 1.0 to 3.0 which is pretty much just different charge speeds.

u/RacerXNFS · 2 pointsr/lgg4

TL:DR: It's not about the case, but about the battery itself. And there's more than one option on the market, but the ZL is the undoubted king in single-battery size and proven reliability.

The ZL kit isn't about the case, but the battery itself. It's so big in capacity and design that it has to come with the TPU case it comes with. However, there are other big-battery options out there. The batteries themselves are smaller in capacity, but fit well enough in the battery compartment that they get away with using different rear backs instead.

Here's the PowerBear battery as an example. http://www.amazon.com/PowerBear%C2%AE-LG-G4-Extended-BL-51YF/dp/B00ZMLOHBA/

And an MPJ-branded model: www.amazon.com/Extended-Battery-MPJ-6000mAh-Capacity/dp/B015XBS45I/

One from Hyperion: www.amazon.com/Extended-Battery-Hyperion-6000mAh-Battery/dp/B00ZAJMM02/

Coincidentally, I also found an actual battery case too. This is more in line with what you have to get for a fixed-battery phone like the Galaxy S6 and iPhone. www.amazon.com/Battery-Case-Buttons-Charging-Extended/dp/B0170FDR4S/

And, of course, the tried-and-true ZeroLemon. www.amazon.com/LG-G4-ZeroLemon-Protection-4897010519648/dp/B01181ODJI/

Honestly, looking at prices you could get two of the PowerBear/Hyperion/MPJ for the same cost as the ZL and wind up with 12-13000mAh instead of the ZL's 8500, but you do lose the convenience of a single battery. And I can't vouch for those smaller batteries because I haven't seen many reviews/input from others. I'll keep looking, because I'm genuinely curious.

Oh, one last tip. If you go big-battery, get yourself a charger that supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0. The one that comes with the phone doesn't support it, but the phone itself does. And because big batteries mean long charge times, that QC charger will be quite the helpful little thing.

u/UserName872 · 1 pointr/iphone

I've always loved Anker products but don't have experience with their iPhone 7 case. I'll throw a suggestion of one I recently purchased on Amazon, the Proker iPhone 7 battery case. Super thin, great grip and option to turn charging on and off + uses regular lightning to charge. Also comes in at $37 if you're not sold on the $100 for the Apple case.

The G5 sports quick charging and Powerbear makes an extended battery case, which might help your battery situation. And fwiw the G5 customers I've run into say that the battery life is fine, and the GSMArena/PhoneArena tests use whatever software is out at the time (Marshmallow I think). The G5 is now running Nougat and that may have improved battery life.

Also if you need amazing battery life I'd raise the budget by $50 and grab a used Moto Z Play (not the Droid version). It has by far the best battery life of any Android phone and you can get extended battery mods for it to get 16 hours of SoT or whatever ridiculous shit /r/MotoZ users are pulling off. Plus the software is crazy well optimized so it runs nearly as well as the OnePlus 3/3T (though it can't keep as many apps open cause it doesn't have the 6gb of RAM).

u/PvtCMiller · 1 pointr/samsung

Another option besides an external pack is a battery case. Not so great for family since if you have a external battery pack everyone could use vs this being only on your phone but with positive of not needing to have cable dangling or carry a battery pack.

I do believe some battery cases allow you to charge other devices too though. Adds some bulk but doesn't really add much bezel. This uses usb c as well. Great for travel since you can use your phone like normal then minute it gets low turn battery case on.

I have had travel days where i'll have really early morning flight. My phone battery will get low around say afternoon time since i'm using it so much in airport. Turn on battery case and by evening when it's time to go out or have dinner I can take phone out the case with 100% and have enough juice to last til next day. You could also probably survive entire weekend with just the case on. You'll get about charge and a half.

The most affordable but still good option for you would be Rasse iPhone 6 Battery Charger Case. It is ultra slim and has 3500mAh. You can find one on Amazon for around $23. Here is the Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/Battery-Charger-External-Powerstation-Kickstand/dp/B00NQWUAG8/

Another good option just more expensive one would be Keluoer iPhone 6 Battery Case. This one has 5800mAh, so you would get more battery for your money. You can get one from Amazon for $33. Here is the Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B016JQX6MW?psc=1

u/PuzzleheadedOven · 2 pointsr/amazon

Hello, have your heard of Alpatronix? They make pretty good iPhone accessories. One of them being the wireless charging battery pack. The one I link is for Iphone 8 plus. But you should be able to find the same product for iPhone 6s plus. Check out the reviews and decide if it works for you. Good luck!

u/GardeningTechie · 2 pointsr/BuyItForLife

I got this one: Temdan Samsung Galaxy S8... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072558CVY

It does have a built in screen protector. Using the edge menu on the curve takes a little practice, but works. I do a lot with kids and outdoors as well as having one o fcb those positions at work where I am in meetings all the time, so my PM hone gets fumbled frequently, and so far the case has done its job.

The Lifeproof Fre case did work as well, but I did not want to have to spend that much a second time on a phone that was paid off. The replacement case was not around 2 years ago, bit hit the right balance points for me. It is probably a little bulkier than the Fre, but is 1/3 the price and actually seems easier to use the phone and might be easier to use.

Well I would definitely put it on my list of things to save up for. It is worth it. Or try a lemon Zero battery if you want even more juice. I have heard good things about them.

Zerolemon 8,500mah case. Just announced, but already sold out. I was able to snag one though. I had a 10,000mah zerolemon case for my note 4 and never had a problem with it. Hoping this one is just as good.

u/Awarewolf2 · 9 pointsr/GalaxyNexus

I'm using this - battery usually lasts 2-3 days of moderate use without recharging. http://www.amazon.com/warranty-ZeroLemon-Guarantee-Compatible-ZL-i515-black-5900/dp/B00AZZOH04

EDIT: Yes. It's big. But it comes with its own case, and works beautifully. The cheap price and 180 day guarantee is incredibly nice. So far, 5 months in, I've had no need to even think of the warranty.

u/Goofballz93 · 1 pointr/lgg4

I ended up going with this one from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OQLMJR6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I chose this one because it was Prime eligible, and appeared to be one of the few legitimate "new in retail box" batteries for sale on there. I was really skeptical about buying one of the dirt cheap batteries that claimed to be official, like: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Standard-Battery-3220mAh/dp/B00WBH9QQE/ - I made that mistake with a phone in the past and it was not a great experience.

I've been using it regularly for about 3.5 weeks now and it works great. I'm considering getting another as a spare since I plan to have my Note for a long time.

If you don't care whether or not the battery is OEM, I've heard good things about PowerBear: https://www.amazon.com/PowerBear-Battery-Samsung-T-Mobile-Warranty/dp/B01FF1XJX8/ - someone linked to the 7,500mAh version in this thread: https://www.amazon.com/PowerBear-Samsung-Extended-Battery-Protective/dp/9652676764

Good luck!

Thus why Project Ara is becoming so popular, many consumers want to pick and choose their phone's features.

Personally I want a huge battery on the back that can slide into a 1x2 module then extend above the other modules and cover the entire back. That's essentially what my current battery (ZeroLemon 9300mAh) does so I think it's a good idea.

u/adrian-monk- · 2 pointsr/Moto_Z

Hi! Thank you for the response!, yeah I tried usb C peripherals, was not successful.

And after researching battery mods, I discovered that the Turbo Power Mod might be better for my situation as I dont have to use the phone's charging port, and the incipio mod will not work for my situation as charging the mod requires using the phone's charging port or wireless charging which I dont have. Do you think I should get the Turbopack?

If battery life is why you're looking to replace the phone, maybe look into replacing just the battery since the G4 has a removable back. On my G3 I used to run a 9000mAh battery similar to the one from the product linked below. Zerolemon is an excellent solution if you don't mind a bit of extra weight and size.

2300 mAh isn't that big of an improvement over the stock battery (2,100) so I would say you probably shouldn't expect a huge increase in battery life. Marketing and availability was poor. They didn't push for them like the carriers do.

US buyers are still stuck in the "oh, monthly? Cheaper!" mindset.

I've bought two S4 devices specifically for the "Play" ROM. They are still great devices today, especially outfitted with a flip case and extended battery.

I would actually recommend the zero lemon battery and case. The added size is worth the tradeoff for that massive battery.

I don’t believe there is any officially licensed ones, only the knock offs that you’ll find so your only bet is to look for reviews. According to some reviews online, this seems to be a good one? Personally my battery lasts me from 8am til 2am so I’ve never needed to look for one.

lol $100. Get this instead; I've used it on camping / road trips and it's come in very handy.

i can get about 3h of screen on out of that (heavy use of reddit + twitter + chrome)

i use CM10.1, leankernel, greenify, etc

waiting to see what the Moto X ends up doing/looking like before i make the jump to either one of the Zero Lemon monsters or pick up a new 3800 mAh Hyperion battery

Honestly, that's roughly normal use tbh. I bought the ZeroLemon extended battery and haven't looked back: http://imgur.com/a/UNSE2

I used to faff about with an additional battery and charger plugged into my car all the time so I could swap out the batteries when it gets later in the day, as heading out at about 8-9 meant that if I hadn't charged my phone fully during the day then I was screwed. This extended battery in conjunction with JellyBam (custom ROM) and Greenify has completely changed the way I use my phone now, it feels as though it's had a huge burden taken off it; as a result I go through quite a bit more data, though it's well worth ~£25 delivered.

It should handle those games fine, I've a lower end phone (Moto G7 Power) I like to test stuff on and if it can handle them the Pixel 3a certainly can. I haven't heard of any widespread issues with battery life after downloading Android 10, but if you're concerned enough about it there are battery cases available for Pixel 3a.

Pixel 3a will be back on sale for black friday.

It might be a bit more expensive, but the ZeroLemon 8500mah battery is AMAZING. At the time when the 3000mah battery would die, my 8500mah battery still has 70% left on it!

There was one like this that looked more like the Apple case but unfortunately I can't find it :(

Although I did find the holy grail, a case with a mother fuckin USB port!!

u/rnovr · 3 pointsr/Android

The amazon listing says it has type C. 5V/3A charging.

u/ColeSloth · 11 pointsr/technology

They make both kinds. Here's the full back and case/battery for my note 2 :http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00BYEMNA6/ref=pd_aw_sbs_10?pi=AC_SY230_QL60

There's also this battery for the Note II. And I guess you could get the 64GB model and add a 64GB microSD card for 128GB (which is still half of what this guy has).

Get a zerolemon battery, go 2 days between charge.

u/The_Big_One · 2 pointsr/Android

zero lemon lg g4 8500mah battery I've had for about 2 years and it still holds approximately 6000mah. I intend on upgrading from my sister's s7 to the LG v20. Zero lemon has a 10,000mah for the v20.

u/Release_the_KRAKEN · 1 pointr/Android

Why not just get an extended battery? Or not willing to compromise with the added weight and such?

u/adambuck66 · 1 pointr/Android

I have an extended battery for my note 2. Its 6200 mAh. Eventually Iwant to get the 9300 mAh zerolemon battery.

Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

ZeroLemon 9300mAh Extended Battery

Samsung Galaxy Note II is a 'phablet', a phone that is almost in the realm of tablet sizes, with quite a venerable battery already, and with the extended battery I bought, it gives the phone enough battery power to last a full week of moderate-to-heavy usage.

u/halcyoncmdr · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

Which means nothing, it's not a regulated term, or even a generally specific term. "Quick Charge 2.0" for instance is a Qualcomm technology, and something the 6P doesn't support anyway, but that gives you direct info on the capabilities which are 5V/2.4A, 9V/1.5A, 12V/1.2A.

The Amazon page and the ZeroLemon page for the case lists Input but notably not Output amperage specifications.

It also obviously depends what wall plug you have it attached to. If the wall plug only outputs 1.5A then that's the maximum the device will get.

I think that zero lemon sells an extended battery for the galaxy nexus now, I have one for my galaxy s3 and I can get 14 hours of screen on time and still skip a night of charging.

Edit: here it is http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00AZZOH04/ref=redir_mdp_mobile

I'm on my phone so I'm not sure if the link works on desktop.

u/shotmode · 1 pointr/Android

And if you really want to go crazy with your Note 2, there's this 9300mAh Battery.

u/cutbigfoot · 3 pointsr/Android

This one I have the same complaints at the bottom about the back cover but thats because I dropped it more than a few times.
