I have the Sangean RC-22 clock which is a totally excellent alarm clock. It isn't super flashy, but it does (1) reset itself to radio transmitted atomic time automatically, (2) have a simple easy to use interface, (3) allows setting of alarm times with up and down buttons, so you don't roll-over after missing the time, (4) has a front panel button to make the display brighter for easy reading, (5) allow you to see on the front panel what day it is, and when the next alarm will go off, without pressing any buttons. Just basically, a really well designed clock. Only minus is that if you turn the brightness down enough so that it doesn't flood the room with blue at night, you will definitely need to press the light button to read it during the day. There isn't a light sensitive mode, to adjust the brightness automatically, unfortunately.

Get an old sheet or a tarp and put it down in the entry way. You're going to be tracking all kinds of nastiness in from outside while you're moving all your boxes in. Your apartment/carpet was just professionally cleaned and you don't want to get it gross on the first day! Also, I'm sure the absolute last thing you'll want to do after moving is vacuum.
In the morning order pizza online for lunch or dinner. A lot of places let you enter in what time you want your order. Now no one has to figure out when the best time to stop is and it takes all the conversation out about "well, what do YOU want?"
I believe that an alarm clock is essential. I turn my phone completely off at night so I won't be woken up and I can't tell you how many times I've selected "PM" when I wanted AM when trying to use it to wake up.
This IS THE BEST ALARM CLOCK EVER why? BACKUP BATTERY - if your apartment loses power the clocks stays on. NEVER MISS WORK AGAIN! :D It even has a daylight savings function. I've had this one for over 6 years and it's still amazing.

Buy one of these (or something like it):

Full spectrum light bulbs and lots of Vitamin D.

Amazon

I have one of these. So nice since I have a lot of electronics I want charging overnight.

I have this one that has the automatic time set. It is incredible. I got it a before DST changed dates and it knew the new dates and changed itself. Going strong about 7 years later.

What is considered a "good" sales rank on Amazon? I grabbed one of these at the thrift store yesterday for $9, has a rank of just under 8,000. The margin seemed good enough to make it my first true item bought specifically to flip, but I figured I should pay more attention to ranks in the future.

Pfffft... that's an $1,800 piece-of-crap cable. I'm surprised you get any pixels at all with that cheap shit. If you want the cleanest bits, the clearest sound, the pinnacle of FPS, you gotta go with the best:

I bought this sony alarm clock when I decided the same thing. Simple and all the functions you could need in a normal alarm clock. I got it for 20 dollars, you may be able to find it at best buy or target around you for less.

Also - if you’re going to throw Don Norman in peoples faces, go and look at some everyday objects - like alarm clocks.

I’ll save you some effort and link one here:

https://m.pricespy.co.uk/product/1101992/media

That’s a Braun alarm clock, I’ll assume you understand why I’ve linked that particular brand of alarm clock for this example.

Take a look at the size / prominence of the snooze button in comparison to the on / off button within it. I own this particular alarm clock, and use it daily.

Just for laughs, here are some others that illustrate the point:

We have an alarm clock with a USB port in it similar to this. Usually guests bring their own cable, but I would certainly loan them one if they asked.

Here you go! You can get one for 16¢ on Amazon!

Anyway, I haven't set it for months and it's only 4 minutes off my other clock. It probably depends on how much battery it has.

u/browniebiznatch · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I had a really similar contest!

Anyways, my favorite villain is probably Hush. Such a dynamic villain and his introductory arc was probably my favorite comic book arc of all time.

This is probably the coolest thing I have on my Batman wishlist.

So, tell me a riddle, Two-face.

Yes, get one ASAP. I have one made by homedics and it's goes really loud, it's the older version of this. My husband also just bought me one the other day at Fry's because I forgot my other other one when we were visiting family. I think they'd probably have one at Bed Bath and Beyond or some place like that. Lots of options on Amazon, but if you have somewhere nearby you can just go buy one, then you wouldn't have to wait for it. Just as a side note, they do not have them at Target, apparently. You could also turn a radio on a static station....I did that the first night after I realized I had forgotten my sound machine (which of course was when I went to turn it on).

Jam zzz alarm clock (You can find it for much cheaper if you look around). It also doubles as a great bluetooth speaker

u/tsteele999 · 1 pointr/gadgets

I had this one until I busted the little pot on the bottom that adjusted the brightness (it was my own fault trying to force it). It had daily alarms so I never had to worry about turning it off on the weekend and synced to NIST time so it was always accurate.

u/AttackOfTheThumbs · 1 pointr/gadgets

Hey, looking for an alarm clock that allows me to program alarms for different days. Really, one for the weekdays, one for the weekend. Traditional alarm clock doesn't work well since I keep forgetting to change it, either fucking up my Saturday morning or my Monday...

I want to keep my cell phone out of the bed room.

The only one I have found so far is this: https://www.amazon.ca/Sangean-RCR-22-Atomic-Clock-Radio/dp/B000QUGKRQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1543211103&sr=8-1&keywords=RCR-22

Seems excessive, but I am in Canada, so sometimes choice is more limited.

u/rocketwidget · 1 pointr/AskReddit

This is my cheap alarm radio. It has a tab for up and down setting of the alarm.

The answer: it is cheap to have up and down buttons. But when you want to make the absolute cheapest product possible, and no one gives a thought about design, the most minimal design is a 4 button solution.
