It would be wonderful if you friend gave a bunny in need a good loving home! However, please educate her on how much care the bunnies really need - space, attention, can't be left alone, diet, special exotics vet, etc... I put together a small guide below for new bunny parents that highlights key bunny care points, and has links to good resources on a lot of subjects. It will also have links to bunny housing set ups and how-to, but I'll include some below.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Z_IvDuy5Fr-VOKwBVBSmZih0m1ATCIquIMhYyFl4aIw

If she does (after doing all the research) make up her mind 100%, may I suggest adopting from a local rescue, which will have tons of benefits - advice and support, likely already spayed/neutered, likely litter trained, the staff knows the bunnies and will help her pick the bunny that would be best for her situation (one who doesn't chew too much, one who would be good for a first time owner with no experience in bunny care). She could even ask the rescue stuff volunteer or foster for a bit to make the transition easier. I really think that a rescue for a first time owner is the way to go for sure.

A bunny would need an enclosure that is at least 4 by 2 ft on on level of space, and then she could even add another level. It is totally doable in studio! However please educate your friend that no matter the set up, she will need to let the bunny explore outside the cage and run free for at least two hours a day. Initially she would have to supervise, but eventually once litter trained and her space bunny proofed, she could just let him free roam her studio and use a baby gate or a deconstructed xpen so sort of fence off the areas where the bunny should not go (i.e. under the desk). She can also use those storage cube assembled into a long grid to place along her baseboards to protect them. Frankly if given enough toys to not get bored a bunny many well not even chew anything like baseboards.

There are lots of videos available out there for how to build a bunny enclosure and set it up, like these:

I just saw someone post this, which looks fantastic!

Here are some housing options to check out in advance... I did so much looking for good enclosures that are also apartment friendly.

https://www.etsy.com/shop/LilFroggyDesigns?ref=l2-shopheader-name&section_id=22454708 - great size options and reasonable price, well made

https://www.etsy.com/shop/DutchElves?ref=l2-shopheader-name – wonderful idea, clean and large, also will protect bunny from other animals in the home, if you have any

https://www.etsy.com/shop/ClearlyLovedPets?ref=l2-shopheader-name - unconventional, but could be a nice large set-up that is also good looking for a modern space

http://www.petwerks.com/condos.aspx - well made, fantastic size to space ratio, a bit on an investment

https://www.amazon.com/MidWest-Foldable-Metal-Exercise-Playpen/dp/B000H8YTJI - good old xpen works every time :)

Another idea here using storage cubes and colorplast you can basically replicate the etsy enclosures https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzS82KZ7ADo

https://www.amazon.com/LANGRIA-Storage-Organizer-Products-Portable/dp/B06XR71YW1?ref_=w_bl_hsx_s_ho_web_13643573011 - if you need more cubes for a larger space they have those too, just look on amazon for 56 panel set

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075H3H3BL/ref=crt_ewc_title_huc_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1ID36P4IX52ZW - blanket I like that is also waterproof for say hardwood floors

Of course having the bunny run free in the apartment is awesome and makes for a happy bunny, but do make sure to bunny proof, especially the wires as they can be really quick to chew on things the second we turn away for a moment. you can try these https://www.amazon.com/Flexible-Polyethylene-Wire-Diameter-White/dp/B00DP35VOO/ref=pd_day0_hl_201_6?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00DP35VOO&pd_rd_r=c021fc64-ba21-11e8-b3e1-116141892cee&pd_rd_w=h8PU9&pd_rd_wg=x0pDz&pf_rd_i=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=ad07871c-e646-4161-82c7-5ed0d4c85b07&pf_rd_r=W775QYZB2CW29NAJFPZJ&pf_rd_s=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_t=40701&psc=1&refRID=W775QYZB2CW29NAJFPZJ

I am an audiophile. I had binders and binders of CD's when napster had just begun. Then the digital revolution, Mini-Disk to Ipod, 56k song downloads to torrenting discographies.

But I was born too late for vinyl.

I find myself at a friends house for after work drinks and dinner. She has just started collecting vinyl. And when I say just started, she had maybe ten albums lined up on the wall. Kind of on display, but also just sitting on the floor. We threw on Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti, my pick of her acquired albums.

Now I am a huge Led Zeppelin fan, and Physical Graffiti is a rocking album, but it was like I was listening to the album for the first time. I have listened to the album countless times, but something was completely different. The warmth of the sound, the quality, the character. This was cool.

I was so intrigued that I couldn't shut up about it when I had returned home. My dad told me that although he didn't have a turntable, he still had quite a few of his records. I made him dig them out of our storage closet.

I spent the next couple of hours looking through some 75 records. Some christmas albums, and bill cosby comedy albums. Some like an original pressing of The Beatles - "The White Album" that my dad had drawn a self portrait on. I know this totally devalues the selve, but I love this album more for it. This album has a piece of my father, it's beautiful.(I'll post a photo when I get home). Luckily my father took care of his records, so they are all in great playing shape.

I was also gifted a few that where once my mother's. An original pressing of Michael Jackson - Thriller. It, like most of her albums, was not taken care of, so it doesn't really play. I have since purchased a copy of thriller(25th anniversary picture disc), but I can't throw out my mom's which doesn't play.

So after spending hours just sitting on the floor looking at these records, I bought a turntable. I usually research electronics purchases, this time not so much. I didn't foresee my vinyl addiction to be the monster it has truly become. I just wanted to rock the small the collection I had just inherited. I bought the Audio Technica AT-LP60. I lucked out with an awesome starter turntable.

Now I find myself drooling over furniture to store my collection. (Anybody have these?) Researching turntables to upgrade there. My collection just keeps growing. I received in the mail today Soulive w/ Karl Denson - Spark, Lettuce - Fly, and Burial - Untrue. I love my albums.

TL:DR; I love vinyl.

Another male? Aspen is ok though carefresh or better yet (and certainly cheaper in the long run) fleece. You can just go to a Joann's or walmart or any hobby/sewing store and buy some fleece. Toss it in the wash as needed with an extra set in reserve. Cat food is what you should transition him to, high quality. I do blue buffalo cat food personally. It will last you a VERY long time. Hedgehog food is never as good for them as it should be. I will provide some amazon links for things you should probably get, the main one that you should but not quite have to if you have a room in the proper temp range is 72-80 degrees. Please come over to Hedgehogs Anonymous on Facebook request to join, then once you are in simply go to the files and take a look at them. I am a college student myself so I do my best to keep costs low though obviously start up costs will be high but after that its really quite cheap mostly (aside from possible vet visits).

Modular shelving can be the cage and gives him plenty of open room to roam and play around. This is the shelving I personally use and can vouch for. I have a 3x3 grid so 9 sq ft. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LGZOR6A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Heating set up, again this is only if you need it and can keep the temp in the right range naturally. I dont know where you live so I do not know what your winters are like but if you get temps in the 50s or lower I do recommend it. Another preventative measure is to put the cage a foot or so off the ground, will actually keep your temps a few degrees higher than on the ground.

These are all the bare essentials aside from a wheel. I and most other people will recommend the Volcano View Hedgehogs bucket wheel or Carolina Storm bucket wheel.

I was just trying to be a thorough as possible without really leaving out anything. Again please join us over at Hedgehogs Anonymous on facebook. Everyone in the group absolutely loves helping everyone with a hedge. Any question that you may have can and will be answered fairly quickly. Most if not all members would recommend getting from a USDA certified breeder just so you know the full medical history of your baby and his parents. Its also generally cheaper as the cost from a breeder is generally around $200 though that depends on the coloring. I am by no means saying do not get him from your pet store you played with him at. I dont like pet stores having hedgehogs just because they are a more sensitive exotic animal that doesnt do well in a retail setting when you have to take care of hundreds of animals at once with high overhead. But if he is behaves well with you now then absolutely get him from there. He looks on the smaller side so hes pretty young.

Again please join us over at Hedgehogs Anonymous. Cant wait to see you and your baby on there. You could potentially take him home today with a cheap bin, simple fleece bolts and food and water dishs from what you have in your house and thatll last until the rest of your supplies are acquired.

I have moved countries 4 times now. What I usually do is sell off as much as I can to have money to buy the basics in a new country/state.

Like that I save on cost of transporting furniture and so on and instead invest that into things like a sofa bed and table, kitchen stuff.

It’s not easy but it avoids unnecessary costs.

Basics I try to buy fast are:
Sofa bed or a good air mattress (Amazon has pretty good ones for under $100, I have this one air mattress ) - if you can buy a sofa bed as it doubles way better as sofa to sit on during the day sofa ikea has good options sofa bed
Foldable table (again amazon, they are height adjustable and I can use them as table to prep food, dinner table and couch table , I usually buy 2) table

Most apartments in the US come with walk-in closets so that’s a great plus if not you can get pretty cheap roller wardrobes. A friend of mine has this wardrobe

It’s not much but it helps for the first few months and then over time when you have more money you start buying things like a proper bed, desk and so on.

I always prioritize kitchen appliances as I love cooking and will move the better ones I have but then buy cheap plates and so on.

Hope this helps to get an idea of what’s possible on a smaller budget

I am going to try to generalize what I do for organizing my room without making a wall of text, but feel free to ask questions.

Ok I think the big thing is to compartmentalize. Have a dresser for your clothes? In the early stages of getting organized, putting old shoe boxes in there can help remind you where to put things. For example one for long socks, one for new socks, one for underwear, etc all in one drawer. Then for shirts and pants, to stack by function seems best to me. One stack is work pants, another casual, another formal, another active, etc.

The other thing about clothes is that they often get left on the floor after use. In my closet I have a hanging laundry bag for my whites, and then on the floor a little pop-up mesh laundry bag. The separating means I won't have to sort later and the location makes it only 2 second deal of putting dirty clothes away as opposed to the floor.

More on the closet. Investing in see through plastic crates is a good idea. In these I keep seasonal clothes and other things I rarely use. Then, each box is labeled with what is in it. These can be stacked on the floor, placed on the overhead shelf, what have you. Another good investment is hanging organizers like this. I have this one for a bunch of general stuff and my shoes. Those two things will really help keep things from becoming a giant pile of junk.

One great thing to have are those drawer stands that allow a lot of things to be conveniently stored vertically. Each drawer has a different purpose and the ones I use the most are in the higher drawers for convenience. I am a girl, so I have a makeup drawer, a hygiene drawer, a jewelry/accessories drawer, etc.

Okay, I will write more later, but it is time for me to go sleep. But essentially, compartmentalize everything. When things are separated into smaller, distinct groups, it makes it hard for you to just put away things were they don't belong. Just so you know, I could write forever on all this, so the more specific your questions, the better answer you will get.

You could consider these. They're cheap and free to ship (and if you have Prime, it's free 2 day shipping). I have two of them (in Espresso, which looks pretty good) and they do a great job. The nooks are a good size so they can hold a fair amount of records.

If you do a good job of bracing the two units together, you should end up with a stable storage unit. The most appealing part, in my opinion, is that you can expand the shelving space as your collection grows. If you ever fill out one of the shelves, you can buy another matching unit and they'll still be cohesive.

I have two of the dual cube units and I'm very happy with them. I plan to add another so I can take my turntable off of the receiver. Having six cubes for storage and display should be plenty of space with room to grow.

It's something to consider, at least. At this price, they're tough to beat. I'm happy with mine and I think most people would enjoy them, as well.

Here's a shot of my turntable stand with two of the shelving units mentioned above. I think they look pretty nice, especially in person. The camera phone didn't do it much justice. Once I add the third one I can unstack the turntable and receiver and still keep the elevated side nook as a display for the current record playing and for headphone storage.

---

Edit: I just realized that you said that you want 4x4. That would become quite costly to do it this way and stability may become an issue, depending on how you arrange them.

u/kuckbaby · 3 pointsr/declutter

You are not looking! A large portion of storage solutions are small to medium.

The closetmaid cubeicals are fairly cheap..there are multiple lines out, but you can get say a 3 cube shelf and and stand it on its end. Edit* The 3 shelf one on it's end looks to be 12 inches, so you could even do a 2x3 at a foot, or you could stack a couple of 2 cube units on top of each other, most of the lines are designed to create a desk space or closet storage and thus stackable.

The playpen (1.)

I use Songmics storage organizers (see https://www.amazon.ca/SONGMICS-Storage-Organizer-Bookcase-ULPC06H/dp/B01LGZOR6A for an example). I create "walls” of 3 panels by 3 panels and connect them using tie-wraps. 2 panels of height used to work but someone learned to push a box to the edge of the playpen, jump or climb on the box then jump over the “wall”.

Two of the “walls” are connected using locks instead of tie-wraps so I can open the playpen once the cage door is closed.

Cardboard boxes laid flat and taped together can be a cheaper, if temporary, alternative. If you can get free boxes from somewhere (like your job, if they order a lot of things in boxes) you can just replace the walls when they get dirty.

The toys (2.)

Toys depend of course on your rats’ tastes. My boys love to unmake the toys I make them with wooden dowels and beads, then they chew them (I make sure the wood is untreated or identified as safe for pets).

The accessories (3.)

While they like their baskets, lava ledges, felt tunnel and so on, my boys LOVE their sputnik (some people call it a space pod). I am actually considering getting a second one.

Tips (4.)

Well... that is a bit of a vague question. This subreddit is great for tips if you use the search feature or ask a specific question.

ShadowTheRat and Emiology on YouTube are pretty good for tips if you prefer videos.

I made this. The dimensions aren’t perfect but might help see a different way. https://imgur.com/a/XHTquaV so just some thoughts. Move things up walls for space. The glass enclosed dresser doesn’t look easily used. Move the desk over into the corner and move the tall dresser were the glass front one is. The chest and case on it are rough and not very functional. I’d get them out at least while figuring everything out. If you can add shelves or cubes above your side table that would add space. They would need to be screwed in. If you can’t then skip that. Hanging laundry baskets or use a shelf with a couple storage bins to toss laundry in. Depending on measurements possibly something like this on the glass front furniture. C&AHOME Cube Storage Organizer, 8- Cube DIY Plastic Closet Cabinet, Modular Book Shelf Organizer Units, Storage Shelving Ideal for Bedroom Living Room Office with Doors, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XFHW6LK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_fX7RDbR8FS51M shelves with storage cubes, containers or such is another option. Add shelves above the desk. Again bins, tubs, cubes even paper organizers can be used. Dollar stores can give extra options. Don’t consider things exclusive. I needed a closed container to hold chopsticks. I bought a pasta container. Think about how to move things up. Think about how you like things for ease. I like doors but for example some cubes come with or without drawers. Under the bed- I’d consider it storage. It doesn’t look convenient day to day. Under there you want to put this. DampRid FG60FS Moisture Absorber, Fresh Scent, 10.5-Ounce, 2-Pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CBLW1MQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_L37RDb41XX5VS put reminders in your phone and empty it every few days until you know how much water it absorbs. You replace the crystals every so often. Keep it away from pets. Damp rid will grab tons of moisture but while you’re checking everything out make sure you don’t see signs of a pipe leak. Mold, soft walls, moisture and bad smells pay attention to. Other type cube options but not this brand ClosetMaid 8937 Cubeicals Organizer, 9-Cube, Espresso https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001UU0NJW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_G87RDbVTHK1NV

Whitmor Storage Cubes - Stackable Interlocking Wire Shelves - Black (Set of 6) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007ELALZC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_Y77RDbMDF1414

There’s also things like this if you have space. SIMPDIY Portable Shoe Rack Storage Organizer Shoe Box Storage System with Doors, Shoes,Accessories - Black (2x6 with Boots Cube 93x126x108cm/37x15x50In) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PZ6K548/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_3-7RDbVY3FSB5

Don’t forget what you choose should work for you. So even something like kids toy storage might work better for some. Like this. Tot Tutors WO498 Elements Collection Wood Toy Storage Organizer, X-Large, Grey/Blue/Green/Yellow https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07638ZJQY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_.b8RDb5P0ZMB6 or this Delta Children Deluxe Multi-Bin Toy Organizer with Storage Bins , Grey/Blue https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074PY2ZGS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_Gc8RDb9CTVC9T there’s stuff like this. LANMOK 3pcs Hanging Mesh Storage Basket Foldable Space Saving Toy Organizer with 3pcs S Hooks for Kids Room Bathroom Wall Balcony Wardrobe https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H9VBKW6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_yd8RDbW8NAFWA

Basically storage needs to go up. Bed drawers don’t work in large rooms so use for storage. Put damp rid out. Make sure no leaks. For me the idea is enclosed. Choose what works for you. Don’t forget if the idea of doors on storage cubes don’t work for you that you can use a curtain to cover it if you don’t want others to see. The idea is finding what works for you. If you move things and have a wall space open buy taller items. I’ve been redoing a smaller space so feel free to ask if you need some other suggestions.

Edit another idea is move that wood dresser to the window like in diagram, glass one next to it and cubes where the wood one is now.

It sounds like your kids are craving more attention/interaction, which they probably get when they terrorize or destroy the house. I work with special needs kids that have some pretty extreme problem behaviors--tantrums, aggression to other kids and adults, destructive behavior, etc. I had a kid who would make herself throw up if she didn't get her way. This is how you get it to stop:

  1. If your kids are terrorizing the house, it likely has 2 motives. 1) To access something they want. 2) To get attention. If they "get into everything," get a box like this or this to keep things safe. These boxes lock with combo locks that young kids can't figure out. Removing that means of getting attention as much as possible will make you and your wife's lives easier since it will be less time spent physically controlling/redirecting your kids from hurricaning through your house.

  2. Give tons of positive attention for every single "good" behavior you see. Kid sitting quietly? Hugs/kisses/tickles/small treat (think 1 Skittle or something like that) and very specific praise. "Great job sitting so still and quiet!" If you just say "good job" your kid has no idea why you're saying it. If you praise them specifically for sitting quietly/following directions/helping mommy/etc. they will eventually know exactly what you want them to do if you tell them to sit quietly/do [instruction]/help mommy and do [instruction]. Kids want attention, and giving it to them when they do good/appropriate things will make good behavior more motivating.

  3. SUPER IMPORTANT, and the hardest thing to do: IGNORE bad behavior. Sounds bad, but hear me out. Kids act out most often because of being denied access to something they want or because they want your attention. If your kid is having a tantrum/destroying things/etc. for either reason, ignoring that behavior will teach the kid that it doesn't work. Ignoring doesn't mean let them destroy things without intervening, it means that they get zero reaction or attention from you (no eye contact, no talking) as you block them from doing anything destructive or physically dangerous.
Example: Kids want something, get mad and tantrum when mom removes it from reach or says no.
What to do: No eye contact. It's okay to tell the kids, "You can't have [whatever it is] right now. When you have a quiet voice and nice hands we can play with (something they like and can safely play with)." Then let them cry or tantrum. Crying never killed anyone. This is hard because the first several times you use this method on the kids they will be pissed. Acting a fool has been working for them their whole lives, so they'll probably tantrum themselves to sleep/exhaustion several times trying to get what they want. Let them. If you can't confine them to a baby proofed area or your house is set up in a way that they can climb or hurt themselves, you will need to be on your shit until you gain a little instructional control over the kids. (There really isn't a way to baby gate one room and take out the stuff you don't want them to touch?) This means that if they're doing something physically dangerous, like climbing, you block this behavior every time they try without giving them any attention for it--no eye contact, no talking to them, just pick them up from whatever they're attempting to do and move them away from it. They will run back to it and try again. Repeat, repeat, repeat. They'll get tired and give up eventually. If you let them get away with it, or give in after initially blocking the behavior, it will keep happening. And it will be harder to get them to stop in the long run. If your kids are just having a run of the mill tantrum, let them lay there and tantrum. It's not hurting or inconveniencing anyone but them.

  4. CONSISTENCY. "No" has to mean NO, no matter what. And if your kid is acting inappropriately in any way--whining, yelling, crying--you cannot give them what they want until they are behaving nicely. If they're crying because they want X, and it's okay for them to have it, tell them, "You can have X when you have a quiet voice and nice hands." Then hold the item where they can see it and as soon as they are quiet for a few seconds straight, give them the item and say, "I like your quiet voice, here's your X." If they sometimes get things when they're bratting out they will keep trying that behavior as a means of getting things every single time. (It's like if your parents gave you $100 every time you mentioned how broke you are for a while, then only every second or third time you mentioned being broke. You'd still try it each time you wanted money because it works sometimes!)

  5. When you want your kids to not do something, always tell them what they can/should do instead. Just saying "no" is frustrating for kids because they feel attacked and don't know what to do. Instead of saying "Don't do that!" you should say, "No climbing on the counter. You can climb on the beanbags or on the slide." (Go to a kids' consignment shop and on Craigslist--the Fisher Price slide that fits in a bedroom or living room and bean bag chairs are super cheap second hand.) Carry or guide them to where it's okay to climb, or to a toy they can play with, as you say this. If they start running back to what you told them not to do, start with the remove-with-no-eye-contact-or-talking each time they try that. Keep doing it until they give up.

  6. To teach them that they get praise for doing what they're told, tell them to do things you know they want to do, and then praise them for listening to mom or dad/following directions. Gradually start telling them to do other things that aren't necessarily preferable, but are still easy (close the door, copy me, clean up the puzzle, etc), and increase the difficulty of directions as you gain compliance. Start off with telling them to do things you can "help" (force) them to do if they don't listen. Like if you tell them to clean up the puzzle and they try to run away or ignore you, physically (but gently) return them to the task, saying only "It's time to clean up the puzzle." Then use your hand to bring their hand to the puzzle pieces (again, you don't have to be aggressive with this, use the minimum force necessary), put a piece in their hand, and move their hand with the puzzle piece to put it away. Repeat until the kid starts doing it without you physically making them. If you have to "help" them with every single piece, that's okay--the important thing is to show them that when you give a direction, ignoring it or running away is not an option and will not work. Don't give any directions you can't follow through on. As soon as they start doing as they're told without you physically guiding them to do so, praise them a lot: "Great job cleaning! I love how you're listening to mommy and cleaning up the puzzle. Good job!"

I know this sounds like a lot. And it will feel like it isn't working for a while, because their behavior will get worse before it gets better (Google "extinction burst" to see what I mean). But you're a good dad for recognizing what's going on and wanting to improve it instead of just trying to avoid letting the behaviors happen.

BIG NOTE If your child is 2 and not talking, have you looked into referrals for an assessment of any speech or developmental delays? In most states children with a delay of any kind are entitled to a certain amount of free therapy services. Giving your child a way to communicate, whether it's speech or signing if he's not at the speech level just yet, will reduce so much frustration. Ask your pediatrician, it can't hurt! If you do qualify for therapy services that would also give your wife a break from constant childcare--ABA services are often available in-home, and while your wife would need to be home, the therapist would be working with your son so your wife would get a break (at least as much of a break as you can get with just one kid instead of 2). PLEASE look into this--if you qualify for any kind of services it will make all of your lives so much easier, and it shouldn't cost too much if they find that there's a developmental delay of some kind.

Good luck, man! Parenting is HARD!

Thanks :) I had them all in bins under the bed and shoved into cabinets...I was like, nope! It's time! Unfortunately I have a couch like a foot away from it...but it's okay. I like it :) I wanna see yours if you get it all organized!

I LOVE these dvd storage cubes

these are probably the best thing ever for storage. they come in other colors i just couldn't finfd on amazon.

and use these with them. again come in multiple colors. Both the shelf and bins are cheaper at like walmart and kmart, the bins are like $2 a piece and i got the shelf for $35.

and then these water speakers

and this awesome light projector

i like these salt lamps which help clean the air and give a nice relaxing lighting

and this because everyone should have a lucky elephant in their room

thsee pillows

i have this wall art and love it, but it's not purple or black.

but this is purple

maybe this

and then i think you should go to kirklands and buy lots because kirklands is the best store ever.

and wall sconces

Another good alternative is to hang dry them. I used to just put the hangers on the frame of the door, but then my grandma bought me a couple of these and I love them.

I'm not sure where she got them, but they look exactly like the ones sold on Amazon. I also found this rack and it looks great as well.

At my mother's house, she hangs them on a rack but she has more space than I do.

I find that there isn't much difference to hanging them this way for blouses and pants. I only lay my sweaters to dry.

My family has been drying our clothes this way for about 10 years and there is a HUGE difference in how long our clothes last.

I WANNA GO TO BURNING MAN SOO BADDDDDD.

  1. Not sure what you should get for the apartment... maybe one of these?

    They're 3' by 3' and I just think they're awesome for organization.

    For Burning Man:

Facemasks are always good and get a bunch of these to give to people. Great to not be dehydrated in the desert. And tasty to boot!

  2. I've been lusting after this shirt for a while. If the link doesn't carry over, large.

  3. I must say welcome home for reddit raffle.

  4. SUNBLOCK! This is a 4 oz. bottle of SPF 100. You'll be in the desert. Buy 10.

BONUS: Have a fantastic time, take pictures, and remember to share everything that happens.

The over the door shoe holder /u/rainbowfrapp mentioned is one I'd suggest, the pockets allow for things besides shoes - I have one inside my upstairs closet that we have gloves, scarves, and dog stuff (poop bags, collars, leashes, etc) in it to store. I have them in both my kids' rooms that hold shoes, belts, etc too. It gives extra space.

I have over my bedroom door one that is a long bar for hanging with coat hangers all my cardigans similar to this for lots of extra space

for one of my kids, I have a closet that sits in the corner so she has space for stuff, hers is a wood one, so she can put shelves and stuff in it.

this gives great storage on the side bed - book, tissues, pen paper, just some things nearby when you're already in bed reading homework etc.

these are great for sliding under bed

and I havea couple of these in closet that add help with pants, sweaters, etc.

LOL can you tell i'm a mom that tries to maximize space in her house?? xD

  • First off, you need a battlestation. A nice desk set up with your computer for gaming or Redditing.

  • An awesome recliner is a must. Also, one of those chair massagers.

  • A flat screen on the wall.

  • A shelf organizer to put your books, games, video game consoles and have them organized. Maybe even one of these cool wall storage things.

  • Perhaps a mini-fridge to keep drinks cold, and maybe even a mini-bar with a tap if you're really into good brews.

  • Have a wall of your favorite posters, remember to frame them to look extra classy.

  • Have another wall to hang framed vinyls, put some of your favorites up.

I have something like this in my room, which is good for storage and pretty cheap. Look at the customer review images for some good ideas and inspiration!

My closet looks something like [this] (http://www.vissbiz.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Amazing-Elfa-Closet-System.jpg). Clearly this one is significantly better organized than mine (and also larger) but I've found the elfa system to be quite good at the price point. I put mine together for ~$900 with the nice wood veneered shelves, as opposed to wire ones.

I decided against going for the significantly cheaper Rubbermaid version which appeared to be a good, less expensive alternative.

u/universion · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

They might fit standing up in a hanging door shelf. I know that wont fit $300 of them, but it would be a nice way to display the ones you were using at that time. What you need are wall shelves or plain ol boxes. The smaller ones would be good for one row of games... that would make it easier to go through them than the huge tubs.

u/treesaremyfriends · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I think you need one of these organizers. They are a great inexpensive way to put your clothes away and make your closet look tidy. Now, if you already have something to put your clothes in, these are great to organize paper work, random items that don't have a place, shoes, hats, and crafts if you are a crafter. The list goes on.

I need one of these because I also just moved with extremely little. That is why you'll notice so much furniture and organizers on my wishlists. My SO's and my clothes are littered all over the closet because we don't have hangers or anything to put them in. This would help begin organizing our space and keep our clothes from being damaged.

I hope you'll find this helpful!

I think the other posters' ideas are great, I second sandwiches and fruit. Also, I think granola bars are a great snack for either the drive or the room. My suggestion for the room is to buy one of these type plastic boxes to keep your food in while at the hotel. It will keep out bugs and ward off staleness for longer than just leaving your food on top of the mini fridge or where ever (provided that you remember to close it up).

My current solution is working perfectly. I bought a lockable box and asked my sister to put all bingeable foods inside. Only she can open it and only she can take foods out. the girl that was on the bottom bunk got the remainder of the space leftover in each of our (top bunk) closets. u each should get a set of 2 drawers (at least in san nic! idk abt others). how we thought of it was that the girl on the bottom bunk also had under-the-bed storage for her clothing and other things. but basically we each got two-thirds of a closet

I also had these (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TAZ6PFU/ref=twister_B07C1G27RD?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) cubbies that fit on the top shelf in the closet to make things more organized and add another layer of space. those were bomb, in san nic 3 fit across the top so we each got 2 squares to put things in and on top of

I used one of these:

Whitmor Double Rod Freestanding Closet Heavy Duty Storage Organizer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002DGM4IU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_e6XBCbZHMCP4N

And put it together so the bottom rack was higher up and suspended a rack for a drop tray. I use a disposable foil baking dish to catch the runoff. There's a nice space underneath for my humidifier and storage (hopefully a clone set up eventually) and a rack on top for my carbon filter and fan. The light hangs from the coat rack with a solid 4' of growing space. If you DM me I'll send you a picture of what it looks like!

I have a closet with these things in them. Top shelf I have books, top cubes I have papers and stuff, bottom two rows I have drawers with clothes. Cannot overemphasize the functionality of these things enough- and they're affordable- takes care of bookshelf, dresser, storage all in one (I have two side by side).

I really should take a picture of it all for this subreddit, but I'm more into pragmatic minimalism not pretty brand-new shit minimalism so I don't think the subreddit would like it.

Since you're not looking to strap down heavy loads, and you probably don't want to start popping rivet or screw holes in your car, or hot weld things, (what the hell, in a car trunk,) JB Weld has a large line of adhesives, one of which will do you just fine. If you have extreme temperatures where you live, they have ones meant to perform in extreme hot or cold conditions.

You'll be able to liquid weld whatever type of anchor point you want to the inside of the trunk. Another method, (if you're just trying to keep a gear box/bin from sliding around,) is to put anti-slip tape on the bottom of the bin.

I use an 8 gal. Rubbermaid ActionPacker, (which holds a shit-ton of gear, probably 30 lbs.,) in the back of my Honda Pilot. I have one strip of that tape on the bottom of it, and it doesn't move an inch. And the more weight you have in it, the better it will work. I have a load blanket spread out to protect my carpet, anyway, and it sits on that just fine.

I really think this is all you need

Another approach - leave a storage container - like the type that you might store yard tools in - on your porch

:( I'm sorry. I know how frustrating that can be! I recently got some new household organization things, and there are a few more on my "to-get" list. Maybe you could benefit from some of them, too? Especially with having so little storage space!

  • 5-tier closet organizer to put a bunch of shit on so you'll have more room for a bunch of other shit, and not lose half your shit all the time! (or the bonus version: garment racks WITH built in 5-tier shelf!
  • Over the door organizer! You can use these for shoes, cleaning supplies, bathroom/hair/makeup stuff, art/craft supplies, tiny things in the kids' rooms, anything!
  • Stackable letter trays - I got 6 of these and use 3 of them for my school papers and 3 of them for papers/mail at home and have them labeled with my name on one, Keagan's name on another, and "Kids" on the last one. That way I have a place to put all of the papers as they come in and don't end up leaving them all over the tables/counters/everywhere else!
  • Stacking drawers for small things like notebooks, pens, other small stuff you're always losing. I'm using mine for my school badge and clinical notepad/pen right now, as well as bobby pins/hair ties and little alcohol prep pads.
