We went with my daughter when she was 11 months old and with both my son and daughter when they were 13 and 35 months old respectively. An umbrella stroller that takes up as little space as possible and corners well is a must. When walking with my daughter when she was 35 months I had her wear a giraffe backpack that had a leash attached to it. I didn't use the leash as a way to restrain her but kept it looped on my wrist while holding her hand and walking around. Toddlers are ninjas at darting away and in crowds the size of Gen Con they can disappear in a flash. The leash kept me reassured that if that happened I wouldn't lose her.

The best day for the exhibit hall will probably be Friday. Be sure to go through the Family Fun section of the exhibit hall. Companies like Habba have games for very young kids.

Obviously bring snacks and drinks for her. Be prepared to step away from the convention as needed. It can be over-stimulating for adults for kids it can be even more so. If you have a downtown hotel room that is perfect, if not there are plenty of quieter spots on the second floor of the ICC. Your title says "us" so I am guessing that you have a partner coming along. Be sure to take turns on who will be the one to take care of your daughter if special attention is needed. If you bring your daughter to an event clear it with the GM before the game starts and make sure it is not going to disrupt things too much if you need to leave.

Most of that is pretty common sense. The only "hack" I have is if your kid is anything like mine and likes attention put her in a comfortable geeky toddler costume. The constant attention and requests for photos made my kids feel so special and definitely upped their tolerance for how much convention they could handle.

Finally be sure to be aware of everyone around you. Like it or not there are plenty of people who do not think that small children should be allowed at the con or on the show floor. Be sure to prove them wrong by showing that parents can be courteous even while pushing a small stroller.

Edit: Fixed my daughter's age.

Our photographer provided outfits but most babies are just swaddled in a gauzy muslin blanker and in their diaper. You might also think about ordering something like this or this which is what my photographer provided. They also have some puppy dog, rabbit (which would be cute since Easter is a month away), or other animal themed ones. You'd just have to be sure that it offers 2 day shipping.

Edit to add: the things I posted above will probably be a little baggy on your baby but I think that's part of their charm, they emphasize how tiny he is plus you can keep the outfit and put it in a shadow box or something like that later down the line.

Edit 2: I hope your happy, I'm now looking up newborn photography outfits and thinking "hmm I need another baby" when my baby is only 5 months old! but here are some more adorable things that are giving me baby rabies 1 2 3.

Alright. I would suggest that if you have a smart phone, you film on that. Iphones and Andriods particularly have fairly decent cameras on them. As for computers-PC, you have windows movie maker built in. MAC, you should have Imovie. These will be your editing platforms. If you don't have a smart phone, A cheap video camera will do. A mini tripod will make your life loads easier. It will make it so all your footage does not shake. However, you can make a cheap monopod to fit anything. String, and a metal washer or something else circular and slightly heavy will do. You can find out how to make it here Skip to about 2:45 to see how to do it.

A dry erase board works as a great teleprompter-reminder, guide, silent directions, etc. (It also works pretty well as a bounce, but I am 100% you won't be doing that, haha. But hey if you ever get more into movie making, anything white makes a good bounce!) That's really it (be careful of your audio. You could potentially get a cheap mic that'll pic up noise better, but you should be alright if you're just careful about it!) you should be good to go with all of that.

  1. Like me, it's old, but it exists.
  2. Sure!
  3. That's cool. (hah. Frozen.)

I would like to see Frozen because it's supposed to be good. I hear it's better than Aladdin (current favorite Disney cartoon).

These do not come in my size :*(

    Thanks for the contest! Zambambo

Most "oh god, I would never be seen with this in public" looking item: Spectra Specs

Most phallic looking item: Salt & Pepper shakers They're not super phallic looking, but it's the closest I've got on my list.

Most geeky item: Time Turner Necklace

Item which would most help you achieve a goal: Mickey Mouse balloon It would help me achieve the goal of planning my son's birthday party.

Best item to bring to a deserted island: Book for entertainment.

All items are on my main wishlist. :)

I'm going to enter this contest as my daughter. =] She is sitting with me and enjoys this holiday the most out of all them. (she is helping me with answers)

  • Clawdeen from Monster High. Which includes a short jacket, tiger striped blouse, purple skirt, & knee high boots! Also is a wig with long curls and werewolf ears that are perfectly pierced on top. I like Clawdeen the most because werewolves are furry and cute and I really like those boots.

  • My favorite candy is m&ms because they are cute and tasty.

  • My trick is hiding in my closet and jumping out at my mommy when she looks for me.

Boy Costume

Girl Costume

I saw that you're from Nebraska in the United States, im from New Zealand, so i know little about your areas history, but these costumes are based around the civil war period, well that's to my knowledge.

An idea I had was to get some of these to give out to your students for various things after their movie premier, like best actor, actress, best prop maker e.t.c

Here are some things that are under $7

That should have been merchandise, first off. But let me give you some examples:

u/quin_dawn · 3 pointsr/knitting

You could blog it, that way it will be free for knitters and you can get some ad revenue! Also your username is great.

Edit: If you don't want to show your face online, it would be good to invest in a foam head or something similar to advertise the hat.

So I wanted to make the post more about my dad. He is an engineer who grew up with the fascination of space. This is his common bond! But this is my nephew not my son- Either way, I’m so happy my dad got to have a bond with his grandson. Sorry if I wrote the post wrong! Here’s the link for the space helmet. Let me find out about the suit!!

https://www.amazon.com/Aeromax-Youth-Astronaut-Helmet-movable/dp/B00IA5LSH6/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=kids+space+suit&qid=1559272717&s=gateway&sr=8-6

Hope you and your son enjoy Space Exploring together as much as my dad and his grandson do!
