Long ago I used a wacom graphire digitizer, and I loved the shape of the pen and various buttons.

I was able to find a similar stylus that does work with the SP2. It has an eraser, and a dual button rocker switch. Lots of SP1 users recommended this stylus online.

I also found replacement nibs of various materials for it. Unfortunately the grips aren't compatible, but the nibs all fit and provide different feel. (Nibs are not compatible with the SP2 default pen.) I'm really happy with how it feels in my hand although I'm still working out the calibration issues. (Issues are operator issues, not hardware issues as far as I can tell.)

I also applied a matte screen protector that together with the pen feels like drawing on paper.

Get one of these if you want the absolute best touchpad:

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Rechargeable-Touchpad-Multi-Touch-Navigation/dp/B0093H4WT6

And get a Clevo for maximum budget efficiency. Honestly the new Clevos are great. They're just around 5.5 lbs (15.6") and 4.5 (13.3") lbs and much thinner than before.

Plus the new Clevos have very decent touchpads (I've used many models, and they seem fine).

PowerNotebooks is also a great website to buy Clevos from.

u/choonggg · 2 pointsr/unixporn

I bought this but it's for the Mac years ago. Pretty sure there's a Windows version as well. And I see a newer generation out as well which looks pretty slick in black.

u/ComicBookNerd · 1 pointr/ComicBookCollabs

Not an artist, but I work with both designers and computers on a daily basis. Computers are a tricky thing to recommend (especially in regards to specs) because it all comes down what they personally do with it and what they enjoy.

That being said, for this sort of thing you would be correct, go with a Mac. More specifically, I would recommend a Macbook Pro. Mac's are, of course, a bit pricey but if you do some savvy shopping you can get a refurbished or used one for cheaper.

Software, you really can't beat the Adobe collection. Photoshop and Illustrator being the main ones. I believe Adobe offers a subscription based model for people that don't want to buy the full version outright.

Beyond that, you could look into a drawing tablet, like a Wacom Bamboo Pad. I have an old one myself, but I haven't done much with it/don't know much about that area in general.

u/SurfaceDockGuy · 2 pointsr/Surface

The best are the JellyComb and the Apple Magic trackpad. Software/driver support is less than ideal and it won't be the same experience you get with the built-in Surface touchpad, but these are far better than the no-name brands.

https://www.amazon.com/Apple-Magic-Trackpad-Wireless-Rechargable/dp/B016QO5YWC

u/ItsAltimeter · 1 pointr/learnmath

I know I'm late to the party, but, I personally use a tablet like this one and a site like Scribblar.

u/Secure_ID · 1 pointr/fakeid

gotcha, we should start promoting resellers to buy

http://www.amazon.com/Wacom-Wireless-Touch-Pad-Digital-CTH300K/dp/B00EQW6M2S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1425776742&sr=8-1&keywords=bamboo+touchpad

that way we can have some really dank custom signatures improving overall quality along with the barzapp gen thanks to novelty :)))

u/g1bs0nsg · 2 pointsr/woodworking

I work in IT, so get old hardware from work... so I have a Dell OptiPlex 990 Small Form Factor PC in my shop currently. I've had a few different ones over the years. Don't have much for dust collection, just a shop vac, but they survive just fine for the most part. I'll occasionally open it up and blow it out with my air compressor.

Never had any issues with the keyboard, been using the same one for years. The mouse on the other hand was always the bane of my existence... I was using optical laser mice and the things would crap out every few months... start double clicking, or tracking weird, or not clicking at all... etc.

One day I was on youtube and saw a video and a guy had one of these trackpads, no moving parts for dust to get into. I bought one about a year ago and it's been running like a champ ever since.

u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/Surface

I can recommend this one, its very expensive considering the cheap plastic feel to it but has a nice shape, two buttons and an eraser

u/BananaVoid · 2 pointsr/MouseReview

Would something like a trackpad or trackball be better for your requirements? This is a dell trackpad for $21, you could throw in the extra cash for a Gel pad for your wrist to rest on when you are not using it.

u/DrUsual · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Would a touch pad or some other input device work for you? I'm thinking something like [this touchpad] (http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Rechargeable-Touchpad-Multi-Touch-Navigation/dp/B0093H4WT6/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1405997849&sr=8-4&keywords=input+device) (which works with Windows 8) or [this one] (http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Wireless-Touchpad-Multi-Touch-Navigation/dp/B005DSPLC6/ref=pd_sim_pc_5?ie=UTF8&refRID=06JTP72B1V5T9RP8XMYZ) that I'm not as fond of, as it's not fully Windows 8 functional.

I see others as well, but I'm kind of a fan of Logitech versus unknown companies. They've been doing well with keyboards, mice, and other peripherals for years...

u/15MinutesOfGame · 1 pointr/DoesAnybodyElse

yes absolutely

if only these things https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GOGHXFO/

worked as well as we would have imagined it in our heads we could carry them everywhere and use that instead of public keyboards which probably have bodily traces of god knows what.

u/Straw_BURN · 3 pointsr/pathofexile

In the end you may want to consider a hardware option allowing you more than 2 buttons (regardless of onscreen keyboard).

There are standalone touchpad with 4 buttons out there like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Adesso-Button-Glidepoint-Touchpad-GP-410UB/dp/B000FVIHY0/

There are more crazy solutions out there like a hand-held trackball which may be worth checking out: https://www.amazon.com/YUMQUA-Y-01-Portable-Finger-Trackball/dp/B00X3LEJBE/

Just throwing some ideas!

u/Black3ird · 1 pointr/pcgaming

He's most likely to mention Laptop Touchpad (or Trackpad) as you guessed yet there are also single Touchpad Solutions exist like T650 and few others who also want to use Touchpad functionality on PC too.

While owning that (due RSI), not recommending to use in games other than Adventure, Card or Strategy that needs fewer clicks distributed over time unlike FPS, TPS, Action and alike.

u/GinkoWeed · 2 pointsr/wacom

Well, there's this. Not really meant for drawing, AFAIK.

Which note device do you have? Not that I've got the money for one right now, but I really like the note devices, and that they have styluses.

u/kschang · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

There are a couple different solutions.

u/AgentTin · 1 pointr/Trackballs

Cool, what are you thinking about going for?

I've had my eye on this:

Ergonomic Touchpad Computer trackpad mouse https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001OO0LXC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_juZ2BbMEKKJ19

So that I don't have to move my hand as much when I'm working. Most of my mousing tasks don't require much precision and I can switch to the track ball if I'm doing mouse-focused work.

u/bolupua · 1 pointr/thinkpad

I bought this one two years ago for my W540, worked perfectly out of the box:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012CN9WJW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/kolorange · 1 pointr/Surface

I am using this Wacom pen (PL-900)
http://www.amazon.de/Wacom-UP-817E-PL-900-Stift/dp/B002EQ2X44

It works like a charm, has 2 customizable buttons and an eraser and uses the same nibs as the Intuos pens, so you can switch nibs between them if you also have an Intuos.

u/_tictaks · 1 pointr/thinkpad

i bought this one which has some instructions near the bottom: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076JF393L

I just did a clean Windows 10 install with that n10gx25w driver. Everything worked great again for like 5 minutes until Windows started updating drivers and 1 restart later it broke the scrolling and another restart broke all 3 buttons.

u/yaboroda · 1 pointr/gaming

I used this about two months and then just shoved it in drawer and forget.
https://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/wireless-trackball-m570

My thumb was in real pain. It is not obvious but constantly moving ball with thumb is tedious.

Then i end up with wireless touchpad and used it about year and half and keep very warm memory about it. If i ever will be using PC sitting on sofa again, i definitely will be use it.

u/foxual · 2 pointsr/MouseReview

There is no such thing as a gaming touchpad. There are limited options for touchpads period. Your best bet is probably something like the Logitech T650: https://amzn.com/B0093H4WT6

Unless you are looking for an actual touchmouse, which are also things... Logitech T630: https://amzn.com/B00DR8LA6U

Or you may look at a tru Ergo mouse... https://amzn.com/B00BIFNTMC

Or a trackball: https://amzn.com/B0043T7FXE

Good walkthrough here: http://www.wacom.eu/index2.asp?pid=9230&lang=en

The coolness is it has software that caches your pen strokes (with pressure levels) so you can roll back strokes in a sketch.

The flies in the ointment are the mini ballpoint refills - no price given; the batteries involved (removable in the pen, but not so clear on the clip on unit); clip to a rigid surface; and 200 FRIGGIN DOLLARS.

If you want to capture pen strokes, i.e. text, look at the APen. Cheapest version 80 bucks, other versions that link to a black berry or iPad http://www.apenusa.com/products.asp

Livescribe requires special paper, so you are locked in. And it is designed for text capture. So are most of the others out there:

One even records voice:

Not ideal, but have you considered a touchpad?

Benefits of a mouse, interface you're after.

The Logitech T650. It was not $230 when I bought it! It was like $50.

u/PixelizedOne · 1 pointr/thinkpad

I’m not sure about Linux Mint but I bought this one for my T440p and it works under Windows 10 (with additional driver):

NEW Original Three buttons Touchpad Clickpad Trackpad for Lenovo Thinkpad T440 T440S T440P T450 T450S T450P T540P W540 W541 W550S T550 X1 Carbon Yoag S3 S5 Yoga X1 Carbon Gen 2

u/butter3904 · 1 pointr/southpaws

If you can’t you can by plug in trackpads, like this, VOGEK Trackpad Touchpad, USB Wired Touchpad with Multi-Touch Navigation for Windows 7 and Windows 10 on Laptop/Notebook/Desktop Computer (White Grey) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MQS4TCX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_DBDZDbKX8W5N
You might be able to find cheaper ones

u/shuushin · 6 pointsr/zootopia

It looks like an Apple Magic TrackPad to me. And the keyboard itself is rather reminiscent of an Apple keyboard.

u/Iwantitnow · 1 pointr/cordcutters

I use a wireless keyboard and I like it- keyboard

There are smaller versions- http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Touchscreen-Keypad-Playstation-Projector/dp/B003A9GBC4

u/Ninimloth · 2 pointsr/GlobalOffensive

While it is an unfortunate situation, there is no excuse for him to cheat if, as yourself said, he does not care about getting better. If it is a solution you want, playing on a trackpad or using a stylus should help out.

u/rootbeerdan · 1 pointr/LinusTechTips

Sounds like someone who never used an XPS 15, I wouldn’t put them in the same league as a MacBook Pro, touchpad is just god awful, almost everyone requests an additional mouse when we deploy them, and I think that’s just defeating the point of a laptop. Why buy an expensive as fuck laptop when the main way you interact with it is so shit.

MacBook touch pads are so good Apple literally sells them as an accessory for desktop users. I wouldn’t want to use a Windows laptop exclusively unless I had a mouse and a good place to use it, while I don’t think anyone would have a problem working on a 15inch MacBook indefinitely anywhere.

I used to be “look how much cheaper windows laptops are for better specs”, until I realized how much better it is to use a MacBook in real day to day use. They’re expensive because they are the superior experience, the best Windows laptop I’ve ever used is a MacBook running boot camp. After MS released 1903 and fucked up scaling I cannot recommend an XPS to anybody unless they get the 1080p version.

u/mwjlw · 1 pointr/thinkpad

Hi there

I struggled to get one from Ebay but ordered one from amazon and it seems to be a genuine Synaptics pad. Contact the seller and check the pics before purchasing,

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076JF393L/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/stochastic_matrix · 1 pointr/gadgets

Logitech has this mouse pad that does not even need a mouse. It's wireless so it's ahead of it's time. But if you want you can keep it connected.

u/candre23 · 1 pointr/AskTechnology

There are trackpads and trackballs, but you still need to click.

u/Paisleyfrog · 1 pointr/gadgets

Absolutely. I just bought this one for my daughter, and it seems to be the biggest bang for the buck I've found. It's a refurb, but I couldn't tell based on the one I got. it's also $10 less on that link that I bought it at.

u/Anergos · 8 pointsr/buildapc

Have you considered trackballs?

There are also touchpads btw.

u/David_Harrison · 1 pointr/apple

Shame!

Honestly, I think it depends. Many Synaptics trackpads, as well as other manufacturers, on laptops offer a multi-finger scroll and pinch to zoom, thought the software tends to handle the input quite slowly/jumpily. There is a Logitech TrackPad that is said to offer the same functionality, but it wasn't very good when I had the Mac version.

Here it is on Amazon.

u/Pinecallado · 1 pointr/chromeos

What amazon reviews are you talking about? Most of the reviews from the logitech t650 amazon listing that mentions using it with a chromebox doesnt't have any negative comments.

And all the trackpad gestures work fine on my chromebox and chromebook. Swipe page back/forward, swipe to change tabs, and swipe to show all open windows.

u/AfterShock · 1 pointr/gaming

Do this and there's a Startup command that I run to boot directly to Desktop. Windows 8.1 is supposed to resolve some of these issues. Being in the Tech industry I needed to learn Windows 8. It's alright, but no major complaints.

Edit: Also having one of these helps the lack of Touchscreen when having to use the Metro interface.

u/stonecats · 0 pointsr/Windows10

will a logitech t650 touchpad fill this requirement?
https://www.amazon.com//dp/B0093H4WT6
i already own one - and would hate to have to retire it.
