Thanks! I never hated veggies, but yes, my taste buds have changed a bit. I thought the Eatsmart Veggie Sticks were okay when I first bought them and now I think they are the best snack ever. :)

The Morningstar Chickpea or Spicy Black Bean burgers are great when it needs to be quick and easy. We eat two of them with one whole wheat hamburger bun, one on each side like an open faced sandwich. You can put mustard or something like that on it if you don't like it plain.

Whenever fresh salmon is on sale we get some and fry it in some olive oil, with parsley. Then it goes on a Kaiser roll with a little bit of cream cheese, some red cabbage, and sweet pickles. Tastes awesome.

During the week I often make a baked potato with a serving of meat and a serving of veggies, followed by Dannon Light and Fit Greek Yogurt.

Xtreme makes a low carb wrap (Walmart) that is pretty good. I like to take 2 slices of Hormel Deli Ham and 2 slices of Sargento Thin Colby Jack, toss in some tomatoes, cucumbers, and lettuce, and wrap it all up like a burrito. I seal the end with cream cheese. Great with a salad!

Zucchinis are very tasty, too! I invested in an $8 spiralizer from amazon and it's a great substitution for actual pasta. You can barely taste the difference. It only needs to cook for about 3 minutes, though. I also like zucchini boats as a side. Cut the zucchini in the middle, so you have 2 long "boats". Add some dried parsley, some grated Parmesan cheese, and drizzle with a little bit of olive oil. Bake at 400 degrees for about 18-20 minutes.

This stuff is amazing for salads. Takes a little bit to arrive, but is worth it. The dill one is slightly sweet and works well with cucumbers.

Other than that, I have a few more complicated recipes. Veggie stew, chicken noodle soup (recipe shared in comments), that kind of stuff.

Wow, really disappointing that there's no where to get it here, but on the other hand, it's really not that hard to make. It's basically a pancake with tons of stuff in it. The most important part is having the proper sauce, which you can find at any decent asian market. It's helpfully called Okonomi sauce. Otafuku is the most common brand (sometimes it comes in a bag ). For bonus points, you can use Kewpie mayo from Japan, although honestly plain mayo works just fine. It's been a while since I made it, so I don't have a go-to recipe, but you can put just about anything in it, so long as you have a good base and plenty of cabbage. Here's one you could try from one of my favorite food sites. Good luck! And don't skimp on the sauce!

Based on your comment, I'll assume you're not American, so I'm not surprised. It's a very regional thing. It originated from and is still really only served in Cleveland, Ohio. It was originally served at Cleveland Indians baseball games, and is still a staple at Cleveland sporting events. You can find it in some nearby cities, but even in Cincinnati (4 hours away, and in the same state) it's almost completely unknown.

It's pretty cheap, and worth a try, and I'm sure Amazon can get it to wherever you are! I recommend trying it on a hotdog (boiled is more authentic to the ballpark) with ketchup and American yellow mustard for the true experience.

Try getting dry ranch mix. That is what I use at home here in the States. It calls for Mayo and Milk but I will often just use milk and a little plain greek yogurt since I dont like it too rich. It seems Amazon will ship certain items to Argentina like this one.

As far as canned soup and alfredo sauce try making your own. Even though I can get it here I dont like to use alot of canned processed food. Ive had really good success making my own condensed cream of mushroom soup when I get a hankering for green bean casserole. I know that may not be the answer you were hoping for. Hope it helps anyway.

I won't reiterate what others have said about liquid because they are dead on correct. Just keep in mind you lose virtually no liquid to evaporation with pressure cooking. However certain foods will absorb water. You just want to make sure you have enough liquid to creat the steam and account for any absorption so your food doesnt burn.

I haven't done keto in Japan, because I have not been there since I started keto, but I found quite a few Japanese low-carbers on Instagram, and actually got to know about Lawson's low-carb selection through one of them. I imagine you'd need to be super diligent and disciplined, but the thing is, a lot of people buy their lunches from convenience stores anyway, and they have a great selection of meat, eggs, salads, etc. I for one was ecstatic when I found out that my favourite roasted sesame dressing is keto-friendly (http://www.amazon.com/Kewpie-Deep-Roasted-Sesame-Dressing-5-75/dp/B002U4OV6I) :)

Vinegar-based over cream-based as a general rule. For a quick German salad...this is what you do and it's fucking delicious.

You get a cucumber and a tomato. Or just a cucumber.

You get a packet of knorr powered salad dressing, the one with dill spice in it. Called - Knorr Salat Krönung dill-kräuter.

You make the dressing according to directions (ie water, oil, vinegar) and add it to your chopped up cucumber.

Toss, and enjoy. It's the shit. And takes like 5 min.

If you are up for a little more cooking and know how to boil water, you can make the best German potato salad ever. EVER. Direct from my Oma to you fine people:

1 long english (14") cucumber (or 2 med sized cukes)

8 medium sized red potatoes

2 packets knorr dill-kräuter spice salad dressing

2 chicken bouillon cubes (or use beef or veg flavor, your preference)

Apple cider vinegar

Water

Soy sauce

Olive oil (or canola, your preference)

Worcestershire sauce

Cut cucumber into thin coins. Boil potatoes with skin on till knife cuts through easy. Drain potatoes and let cool in cold water briefly until they are able to be handled without burning your fingers.
Put bouillon cubes in small saucepan, add 1/2 cup vinegar. Heat till cubes dissolve in vinegar. Put knorr powered dressing spice in a large bowl, add vinegar-bouillon liquid, add 2 tablespoons of water and 3 tablespoons oil. Wisk together. Add a 2 teaspoons each of soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Wisk. Add more vinegar to taste. You want to aim for a concentrated vinegary umami flavor. But tastes vary by person. I like something more vinegary so I add more apple cider vinegar.

Add in the cucumber. Let sit for 10 min to let them get a slight pickle. Now do a rough chop of the boiled potatoes into coins. The final mixing will naturally break up the potatoes into smaller pieces. Keep the skin on friends...don't be a monster.... that's flavor. Put chopped potatoes in the cucumber dressing bowl and gently mix everything together. Let sit for 5 min, then do a taste test and add more vinegar/soy sauce/Worcestershire sauce to taste. You shouldn't really need much more.

No need to add any salt or anything. All the seasoning is in the knorr powder! It's a wonder spice blend!

You can be fancy and toss in a thinly sliced red onion. You can be next level extra fancy by adding a few crushed up pieces of crispy bacon and bacon drippings. 🥒🥓🥓

The potato salad is best after an hour resting... IF you can wait that long to eat it. It's amazing the next day after being in the refrigerator overnight. It's the best side dish to take to a bbq or potluck. This is the quick salad my Oma would always make. It's 100% german grandmother approved. It's ridiculously good with seared and grilled salmon.

Thing is that it's on the hard side to find the knorr seasoning in american stores. I always had german relatives send me boxes of the stuff from Germany. I recently found that amazon sells it. The directions are in German, but that's what Google translate is for.

To make these I scooped out the insides of a potato and set aside 60 grams of the mash and used the rest for another dish. I put the potato shells into the oven to bake and while that was happening I microwaved the scooped out portion and mashed it with almond milk, salt, and pepper. When the halves were done baking I added in the mash potato and layered with cooked broccoli, a little daiya chedder, Tofutti sour cream, and hickory smoked Veggie Bacon Bits bits (these are delicious bacon bits, btw), and chives. I really liked the Tofutti sour cream and bacon bits, but next time I would leave off the Daiya because I don't think it added anything to it. I think I would have preferred butter instead.

edit - by butter I mean Earth Balance Buttery Spread. The BEST butter that I have ever tasted. Better than dairy butter, imo. And if you get the whipped kind it is only 80 kcal/Tbsp!

We went to Australia on our honeymoon and loved,loved it. One thing I missed and maybe you could use more of or I'm just being an American about is Heinz Ketchup. We tried lots of good food but the ketchup just never tasted right.

You're right on. Sometimes restaurants that don't do a lot of prep will simply use the shelf-stable bottles ranch, and they are all pretty terrible. Some of the refrigerated jars, like Marzeti's are okay, but nothing is as good as homemade.

As for Hidden Valley Ranch mix, I used to get a shaker bottle and mix it with sour cream, mayonnaise, and buttermilk, and it's quite good! It also makes really good veggie/carrot dip when mixed with sour cream.

It has a slightly more aggressive flavor than normal mayo. When tasted on it's own, you can definitely tell the difference, but I can't really tell the difference once I add all the other sandwich ingredients.

Personally, I will save my money for Colman's mustard. That is easily worth the extra price. Or plenty of other places to spend more money before Kewpie.

That said, if you want to try it, you can get it from Amazon for $0.01 less than the store in the OP.

Why no veggies? Those are my favorite part of a roast.

I don't have a recipe, but I do have a couple tips to help avoid the gluten. Pretty much what you're getting from the Worcestershire sauce is umami (savory) and saltines. You can replace it with other sources of umami, such as soy sauce (be careful of gluten in them too, I believe tamari does not have it), Accent (MSG), fish sauce, or mushrooms.

One of my favorite Worcestershire replacements is mushroom ketchup, but it'll take a day or so to make. You can find it on Amazon, but I don't know how good it is. (video, recipe)

I tried it a couple years before Obama asked for it on his burger. Actually it is a nice kick to a well-made burger. I'd not ask for it all the time but it works if I'm in the mood for it.

That said, replace tomato ketchup with Baron's banana ketchup and I will die happy. I keep a bottle in my pantry and an open on in my refrigerator. Tomato ketchup for fries, banana ketchup on my burger. If going to someone's cookout and it is BYOB and potluck for sides, I'm packing some Baron's too for my burger. Wife and I were introduced to it when we were down in St. Lucia for the first time and fell in love.

Hummus is a great idea and it'd make the sandwich more filling, too. Other ideas:

  • add sriracha and a bit of lime juice to the mayo.
  • Giardiniera, which is usually a spicy mix of pickled vegetables, sport peppers and olives. The finely chopped kind would work better for sandwiches.
  • muffaletta spread, which is similar but more olives and usually not spicy
  • Italian dressing (or just a mix of red wine vinegar and olive oil, like they use at Subway)
  • I think it's more of an east coast thing, but sub places put a spread of crushed red peppers on their subs that adds a lot of zing. Something like this.

I'd use whatever mustard I have on hand. But lately I started buying mustard in mind with making mayo - my go to is just an off brand Dijon mustard. I don't like the type with little beads (seeds) in it, so I just go for smooth type. Sometimes I use Russian Dijon Mustard, called Mother's-in-law Mustard by Zakuson brand it tastes a lot like wasabi.

Mustard acts as an additional emulsifier, but no mustard works as well.

I do use the whole egg, but I did try only egg whites ones, I didn't like it very much, it was not as tasty.

My mayonnaise ends up yellowish in colour, but not too much.

My process is this - I put an egg, salt, acid, and mustard into a tall container (that usually comes with a handheld blender) and start the blending while slowly adding oil. I blend, lifting the blender up and down a couple of times, slowly, until I get the consistency I want. It literally takes 60 seconds from start to finish, including getting all the ingredients.

And if I add anchovies, and some parmesan into the mix, I get Caesar dressing :)

Last week I was discussing the idea of having a sushi pizza. I kicked around the idea a little bit and decided I would do a Shaggy Dog inspired pizza. Normal pizza crust with dragon sauce (Kewpie and Rooster sauce) and cream cheese base. I did a very thin coating of sushi rice in the sauce (I'd leave this out next time) and then some green onions and shrimp. I did just enough Mozzarrella cheese to make everything gel together (about 1/3 of the amount I'd normally use). After it came out of the oven, I added slices of avacado, cucmbers and sprinkled with shredded fake crab. I found it tasted best if you let it sit for about 10 minutes.

buy some stuff online and make your own yakisoba!!! it will be better i promise.

if you can find fresh or frozen ramen noodles at an asian market, buy those, otherwise cook your usual instant ramen noodles for about half the time you normally would, do not add the broth packet, and strain the water.

in a pan, heat up some vegetable oil, and saute some ground or diced pork, cabbage, carrots, and onion. once this is almost done, add the cooked ramen noodles and some "yakisoba sauce".

you can buy yakisoba sauce premade, or just mix worcestershire sauce, oyster sauce, ketchup, soy sauce and sugar together, heat to dissolve sugar and whisk together.

cook the noodles, veg and pork with the yakisoba sauce for a minute or two on high till the noodles brown a little bit.

put on a plate and garnish with kewpie mayo and katsuobushi.

I combine 1/2 cup mayo, 1 1/2 cup buttermilk with 3 tbsp of Ranch seasoning. Keeps at least 1 week (it may keep longer but I use it by 1 week). You can change the consistency and flavor by varying the relative amounts of mayo and buttermilk, or use milk instead of buttermilk for something more liquidy.

Well, the sauce originated in China, then fanned out to the rest of Asia. Some sources say that the British found ketsaip in China (which became "catsup") and the Dutch found kecap in Malaysia (which became "ketchup"). Others say that different Brits found kôe-chiap and kê-chiap in China, and that's how we ended up with two different words for the same thing.

And, of course, original ketchup was more like fish sauce than the tomato-based sauce we know today. Hell, mushroom ketchup was way more popular in Britain than tomato ketchup for a long time.

As to the "ketchup vs. catsup" thing, in the early days of the Reagan Administration, Secretary of Agriculture John R. Block proposed reclassifying ketchup from a “condiment” to a “vegetable” to allow schools to meet federal nutrition requirements on the cheap. The rule never went into effect, but because the proposed rule specified "ketchup", many "catsup" producers (including Del Monte, the largest "catsup" manufacturer at the time) changed the product name to "ketchup", so as not to be left out of the new bureaucratic rules.
