My eyes are extremely sensitive and will burn with just about any solution out there.

My previous method for making them bearable was to rinse them thoroughly with saline solution which helped a lot but they still would leave my eyes dry and irritated.

Ultimately is what I'm using now is the peroxide solution with the case included and rinsing them in saline before I out them in.

Another huge thing that helped a ton was to use an applicator like this one:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00012FJ9O/
I only paid like $5 for it so it might be worth waiting to find another or cheaper elsewhere.

That said the above applicator is awesome. I think finger oils and fingerprints would further cause me issues but since using this I haven't had but maybe 10% of the issues I had originally. I still remove them by hand but once they are done cleaning I use the applicator to handle them for rinsing and putting them in. Tbh putting them in is not longer a 50/50 shot of missing its always 100% .

Your condition maybe more serious but for my eyes the above worked for me best. Hope this helps.

My random user is /u/sweetbeauty

I had TONS of things in common with my match. She likes lisa frank and I like lisa frank. She likes adorable necklaces and so do it! She likes kinder hippos and I love those damn things!! They are on one of my wishlists. She wants this and I bought that exact same set on 01/30 of this year. She likes Rachael Ray and that is my favorite cookware set. I have her plates in green! She likes colorful knives, guess who bought that set back in March? She has contacts and I have contacts! I just added that to my wish list too. She likes makeup and I love makeup. Those brushes are amazing, btw. She also had quite a few makeup items that I liked, but I wasn't about to link all those. Ditto with books!! My random person is pretty awesome.

Also, welcome!!

Not OP, but I used to use that style of contact lens storage and each of those tubes holds a pair of contacts in them. The A and B would either be because they are different prescriptions for different uses or because they swap back and forth on some sort of schedule for whatever reason.

Here is a link to the best picture of these I could find on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Clear-Care-Cleaning-Disinfecting-Travel/dp/B00FDXACA2/. One or both of the blue and white sides is marked with an R or L. The gray gear looking thing on the bottom does something (reacts with the soaking solution, I think) and I think got replaced periodically, but it has been a long time since I have used that style case so I am a bit fuzzy on the specifics.

edit - Found this listing that has more pictures better showing lens holder looks outside of the tube: https://www.amazon.com/Mosuch-Plastic-Contact-Cleaning-Lenses/dp/B01MZ4OD3I/ If you zoom in you can barely make out the "R" on the one side. Could also just be that my work laptop's monitor is not the best and that is obvious on something better.

I don't wear contact lenses anymore so I haven't tried this but I saw this tool that looks like it might work depending on your tenodesis abilities.

4 Pack Hard Contact Lens Insertion & Remover Tool RGP Plunger for Hard Lenses (Green) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07J3XT56M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_0I7XCb6GES8PA

What you could do is have somebody help you use the instant plastic molding beads and craft a handle larger or a ring on it. Good luck I hope it helps!

u/spoonypanda · 2 pointsr/Keratoconus

Usually you have three things:

  1. Red Cap solution: It's milky, and you use it to clean the lens completely. DO NOT LET IT TOUCH YOUR EYES.
  2. Blue Cap Solution/Conditioner: I usually have the Bausch and Lomb stuff. It says conditioner on it. This is what I use in my contact case to soak overnight.
  3. Saline Solution (Sterile, Preservative Free): Just a simple saline solution. I recommend Purilens. This is what I put in the lens itself before wearing. (https://www.amazon.com/PuriLens-Preservative-Saline-Twelve-Bottles/dp/B000X98XS4)

So I repeat the same step every morning.

  4. Wash hands with perfume free soap. Dry off with lint-free towel.
  5. Take contact out of case put in palm of hand. Use extra conditioner and lightly rub. Rinse again with more conditioner.
  6. Fill Lens with Saline Solution. Put in Eye.
  7. Dry out case, and leave open.

    At night:

  8. Take contact out, place in case, fill case with Conditioner
  9. Once or twice a week, before this step, I gently clean the contact with the red cap cleaner solution and rinse thoroughly with conditioner before putting in case.

PuriLens works great for me for filling my scleral lenses for insertion. Amazon has a year's supply for $40 - https://www.amazon.com/PuriLens-Preservative-Saline-Twelve-Bottles/dp/B000X98XS4

I'm sorry that your eye doctors aren't working with you until your scleral lenses fit comfortably. I've worn scleral lenses for 4 years now and have loved them - they never hurt my eyes like RGP lenses could. My vision doesn't get noticeably worse as the days goes on like they did with RGPs.

Ask your eye doctors if they can check the fit. There are no nerve endings in your sclera so the lenses should not be hurting your eyes.

u/telepathetic_monkey · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Oh, poo! Just looked and my frames aren't on their site. Would have been nice too, my glasses snapped in half back in November, they're superglued right now, ha! Can you say nerd?

Thanks for the contest! Hopefully someone will get good use out of it.

Edit: okay, so I'm dumb. I thought it was frames only... I didn't realize they also did your lenses (I've never ordered glasses online before).

Like I said before, my glasses are glued together. They don't sit right on my face, there's super glue on the lenses from trying to fix them and I can't get it off, and I don't have insurance to get a new pair. A new pair would be amazing!!!

Four eyes

I tried contacts and didn't like them too much, but I wish I had this.

Thanks for the contest!!

u/Metabilities · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

It's no Krispy Kreme donut, but...

One of my favorite things to do is fried zucchini and squash with onions. You can get the veggies fresh for like $2 and it's super simple to make.

Prep- slice everything up and toss with salt and garlic powder. I also put in nutritional yeast, but you can be as plain or as fancy as you want with your seasonings. Cook- on medium heat for a few minutes, depending on how soft you want everything, I like to brown mine a bit. Done! with a tofu scramble and salad. I'm vegetarian, but this would make a great side for any kind of chicken breast recipe, or you can even stir fry the veggies with chunks of chicken.

These two things?

u/GiraffenBruder · 1 pointr/memes

It takes time to feel comfortable with your lenses. Some people take more time than others. I would tell you to watch some videos how people insert their contact lense so you can learn how to put them on to be prepared for sure. Aditionally, trying to simulate the steps is a good idea. Try to open your eyes with your fingers and stuff. Doctors can maybe let you practice putting them on, so you should ask your doctor if you can take some lessons. Also, Hygiene is pretty important, make washing your hands your habit if it isn't already. As a pro-tip, when you decide for contact lenses, there are some spectacles cases which provide you with space for not only your glasses but lenses, too! Some even have mirrors, so check them out! Good luck! :D

EDIT: https://www.amazon.com/ROSENICE-Contact-Lenses-Eyeglass-Portable/dp/B0757QCCY5 here is an example for a contact lense case :3

u/lalalalady22 · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Okay. So I found these super cute contact holder thingies on /u/zakinak 's wishlist. I don't have one. If I take my contacts out I use a bowl. It's super ghetto. Don't judge me, world.

It will be mine,oh yes, it will be mine.

u/Morph96070 · 1 pointr/Keratoconus

Full, but, with the insertion tool, it's super easy.
https://www.amazon.com/DMV-Scleral-Large-Contact-Handler/dp/B00S5LQAUU

those are the tools i'm talking about.. it holds the lens securely, allowing you to fill it, then lean your head to insert it vertically.

u/YuckyChucky · 1 pointr/Keratoconus

I have no experience with the purilens system, so I can't really speak to that. But I've been in my lenses for about a year now and have just been using the unisol to fill my lenses as my doctor suggested.

Also, make sure you get something to clean your lenses, nightly is preferable. I use this:
http://www.amazon.com/Clear-Care-Hydrogen-peroxide-Cleaning/dp/B0076P12W2

This is important for your comfort, the lenses can get kinda gunky and possibly lead to infections if you don't keep them clean, so this is what my doctor suggested as well!

Good luck, hit me up ANY TIME!

u/AnachronisticDonna · 3 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Wearing contacts and attempting ANY new cosmetic can be troublesome. I practically threw my glasses away six years ago when I decided it was time for me to play with contacts. I find that switching eye make ups can be a tedious thing. My eyes ALWAYS get sensitive to new things so I try to add them to my face slowly (especially if I LOVE the new product more). For instance start with just the tip lid. In my experience the flaking happens less from the top lid. I'm not sure why I just never noticed it before. Or I'd put it over top the kind I'm used to, that way I can get the full effects of any old mascara and then desired effect of the new one.

Also, make sure your contacts aren't old and try using a peroxide based contact lens cleaner. I use Clear Care and it takes care of all my make up residue. The downside is you have to wait six hours before you put them back in.

u/novoketacaine · 1 pointr/contacts

The feeling of something being in your eye goes away with time. If I recall correctly, the inside of your eyelid gradually changes its shape to better accommodate your contacts.

I never struggled to put them in, though I have to hold my eye open with one hand and put them in with the other.

When I first got contacts, I did struggle to take them out. This was because I was moving the contacts over to the whites of my eye and basically trying to use my fingernail to slide under the contacts and lift them (ouch, don't do that).

It's easier to take them out when both your contacts and hands are dry, so the contacts stick to your fingers. You can just pinch them out that way.

Or it might be easier to get one of these, since you mentioned you have acrylic fingernails (now you don't have to trim them down).

u/trep89 · 2 pointsr/CampingandHiking

Daily contact lenses may not be a bad idea. You can continue wearing monthlies during “normal life” and use the dailies when you are out and about. You can get 90 days worth of daily contact lenses for about 150-200.

However, you could also consider buying one or both of these

soft contact lens tweezer

soft contact inserter

It may be easier to clean and/or keep those tools clean.

You could need a better fit, they fogged up when dry and needed a refit.
I wouldn’t store them dry, my doctor recommended this brand of saline

PuriLens Plus Preservative Free Saline Twelve 4-fl. oz(120-mL)Bottles https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000X98XS4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_jfl4Ab5NYFF0J

u/aczietlow_ · 1 pointr/Keratoconus

That's a fair point. Using this method does require a separate eye plunger for removal. I used these: https://amzn.to/2RJN8gS and found they had better suction.

This technique helped me get use to lining it up correct on the first attempt and feel comfortable shoving a chunk of glass in my eye every morning. After a few months I was able to use the standard plunger without the bottom cut out for insertion and removal.

u/judgmental_platypus · 2 pointsr/Accutane

This is what I’ve been using. My eyes got super dry especially in the evenings and at night but I use these drops 2-4x a day and they’ve really helped. Bonus! They don’t burn like that crap visine.

u/ThomasChristo · 5 pointsr/Coachella

I'm in the minority that has to wear hard contacts (mine happens to be a scleral lens) so I'm posting my plan since you can't toss these like soft contacts and you usually only have one pair

It's relatively simple, I'm bringing in a hard contact lens remover, a simple contact lens case pre-filled with contact saline. I might bring in one of the sealed saline vials in with me. I plan to pop a squat somewhere to take out the contact into my lens case right before the sunset set that I attend or while I'm eating dinner

I'm not going to try and bring in the usual prescribed pH solution and disinfectant solution since that has to stay upright in the [disinfecting canister] (https://www.clearcaresolution.com/images/prod-triple-action.png) to work effectively (but you should do this everyday after you leave the festival grounds). I'm not planning on bringing in any eye drops

u/PA2012 · 3 pointsr/ReviewThis

I second this info. I worked for optometrists for several years and that is also what they all said. It is always good to get an eye exam, but here are some tricks you can try before spending too much money: 1. Take a short break for 4-5 minutes every hour to look away from your screen and bink/close your eyes. 2. Get some eye drops like Optive, Blink, or Systain Ultra (my favorite) and use them during those breaks (at least 3 times a day, more if needed). If you live in the US you can get these at a local drug store, and probably get a smaller/cheaper size to start out to see if it helps.

u/blueengine · 1 pointr/Keratoconus

Thanks for the reply and I think I get what you're saying. Are you using a small or larger tool to remove/put them in. For putting them in I use the larger plunger (THIS ) and then to remove them I've been using this Smaller One. So are you using the edge of one of these to help break the suction of the skirt?

u/mstwizted · 1 pointr/answers

I currently wear disposable contacts that are meant to be worn for 30 days (days only, not to be worn while sleeping.)

I can routinely wear the same pair for 1.5-2 months. The contacts get noticeably thinner, and will feel scratchier and scratchier as time goes on. I typically wear them until I tear them, or they just feel too irritating.

I've also found using an overnight solution that includes hydrogen peroxide helps extend the life of the lenses. I typically use the Target brand version of this stuff by Clear Care I was completely unable to find any solution with hydrogen peroxide while in the UK, so this may be a US thing...

u/codeplaysleep · 1 pointr/boardgames

I used to use these to remove my prosthetic eye when I was a kid (it's easier to just get a finger behind it and pop it out). They should work well.

u/aManPerson · 2 pointsr/Keratoconus

i dont know if this can be used with sclearals, but i love it for my RGPs https://www.amazon.com/Clear-Care-Hydrogen-peroxide-Cleaning/dp/B0076P12W2/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1481571913&sr=8-1&keywords=hydrogen+peroxide+lens+cleaner

shoot, looking on google, it doesn't immediately sound like this should be used on sclarel lenses.

u/JyShink · 3 pointsr/Keratoconus

Get a contract lens remover/plunger and use it to pull it the lens by the edge of it when it's in your eye. That's the easiest way to pull it out.

https://www.amazon.com/DMV-Ultra-Hard-Contact-Remover/dp/B00OJWNY1C

u/redcrashpad · 1 pointr/climbing

This is a device designed to be used for large scleral lenses, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work for soft lenses. Try to place the CL on the plunger, look down (chin towards chest) then move plunger up towards your eye. Worth a shot? Also make sure you cut the tapered end off the plunger so it doesn’t suction the lens.

u/SuckinLemonz · 18 pointsr/AsianBeauty

I get these. You should change your case every 30 days, so every year I buy 12 and write the month on the back with sharpie. All the extras that I get in lens solution and doctor visits end up going in travel bags for various other purposes.

u/annarchy8 · 1 pointr/AskReddit

If they are soft contacts you have to either pinch them out (yeah, as bad as it sounds until you get used to it) , or get this. Hard contacts I have no fucking clue. Good luck and don't worry, they won't get stuck in the back of your eye. Quit poking at your eyeball.

u/smoogrish · 1 pointr/Keratoconus

What works the best for me and sucks but you have to do it is you HAVE to look down into the center of the lens. You cant look sideways like with other contacts. If you dont honestly just forget it. It took me so long to get used to it and it fucking sucked for a week but now i get it in 1-2 tries.

Even if it hurts you have to do it or else it just wont work! I have the best contact eye clamp in the business from years of KC and even that didnt help until I learned to look down at the lens while inserting

I have the DMV Ultras and they're a bit hard to work. I find putting a drop of saline solution makes them work instantly. If you have Scleral lenses, you can also try to use suction cup on the edge of the lens. The torque pulling from the edge allows the suction cup to break the lenses' seal with less force than trying to pull them out from the center.

I started having that burning problem with my contacts. My optometrist recommended getting the hydrogen peroxide cleaning kits for cleaning my contacts, as some folks start to develop an allergy/irritation to normal contacts solution.

ClearCare Cleaning Kit

Ever since I started using them, no more irritation with my contacts, what so ever. It feels like putting in a fresh pair every morning.
