I'm dispensing my advice from this being year seven, and from the angle of being a worker/support and manning a booth (go /r/dcdarknet) . Makes for a lot of walking and a lot of time staying put at a booth. (Note, I add and update this every year, and then save it because the question will always be asked again).
Fluids (if any tl:dr -- keep fluids up at all cost)
Note: I've stopped drinking for the duration of the con, since it is easy to get into a bad spot, dehydrated, and I've got contests depending on my help (plus you get to see more cool things). Just my stance after six years, and probably why the goons don't drink on the job: not that they can't, just that they are responsible. If not responsible for anything, hell, you're in Sin City, do what you want.

These natural throat losenges are great. I gave out all that I had to the good people working booths, and got the quoted reaction. It helps for just socializing an talking for hours and hours in the desert, and getting your voice back.

Some last notes:
I don't hear anything wrong. :-). Sounds normal for everyone our age and it ^sounds like you need to warm up your regular singing voice more so it wouldn't do that popping stuff in the second clip. You need to put some energy in it the same way you'd sing a song in the voice you want to sing to someone! It sounds too low volume! Maybe a little louder and open throat would help but a falsetto really needs to be controlled. Try do a character voice like mickey mouse to find it. Notice how mickey mouse sounds all energetic and happy? It shouldn't hurt either. A girlfriend wouldn't want to hear low energy singing because she wouldn't be persuaded you really mean what you're singing to her. I ^think you should upload a clip of you talking regularly or anything speech-like then everyone here can help you better! falsetto is typically difficult to control at first since guys typically don't like using that sound since it takes away their masculinity. So you have keep using it to get stronger. If we know how you sound regularly and it doesn't sounds like there's a problem, you're probably fine but it's always okay to check with a doctor just to be sure.
> Record yourself speaking softly like you're talking to a baby
> Record yourself speaking like you're totally confident in front of a classroom.
> Record yourself saying "HEY!" like your friend is across the street and you're trying to catch their attention.
^And I wouldn't classify as anything right now since baritones are more than capable of singing anything a tenor does. Although, it may take more work to train to be like a mighty tenor. It doesn't really matter what voice type you are unless you want to do a musical or take some operatic role. Take Tom Jones, John Legend, Elvis Presley for example. They're baritones but are more than capable (and maybe even better but that's debatable) of reaching the standard notes of tenor pop songs. I feel that range only classifies a vocal part mainly for choirs because they need to have more people fill in certain parts but there's a lack of it-- so if you can't sing that high note, they'll put you into bass section even though you're probably a tenor. for acid reflux/gerd you should take a lozenge like Thayers Slippery Elm, though drinking peppermint tea would most likely help. :-)
Mucinex makes mucus looser so your coughs are more productive and is a class B. Benadryl is the active ingredient for a lot of those "non habit forming sleep aids" and is also class B and stronger than Claratin at making me sleepy.
On the non-medicine front, honey is a good cough supressant. A big spoonful of honey in chamomile, ginger, or other decaf tea before bed is great. If it's too warm outside for hot tea you can just eat the honey on toast or off a spoon.
Zarbees also makes a good hot drink mix that my doc ok'd for pregnancy (though I wouldn't use their sleep one with melatonin, apparently that's not ok, which sucks because melatonin is such a good sleep aid).

So I did some research into what inactive additives specifically cause nausea/diarrhea, and I have found the culprit. Sorbitol, which is a sugar-alcohol sweetener substitute, is apparently the main cause of most users significant nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. It supposedly has a very strong laxative effect. I've been reading that they didn't use to put it in syrups or gels, but unfortunately they put it in almost all of them now, not including polistirex varieties. If not sorbitol, they often use sucralose, which seems to have similar undesirable effects. I can't help but feel like this is intentional, to make recreational dosing less pleasant.
Fortunately, I did some digging and found the holy grail of syrups on Amazon, although in somewhat lesser concentration, meaning you would have to take more. I feel like that wouldn't be as bad as the nasty stomach complications, like with every other HBr+ source I've found. Not sure if you would be able to find this anywhere in any stores. I've certainly never seen such a good catch.
As for the gel-caps, possibly, but not by a large margin compared to a syrup. The outer coatings dissolve relatively quick, but if you take them incrementally rather than all at once, it will be like re-dosing, so your peak will hit you in waves, and increase in DXM toxicity. Personally, I cannot down enough for a recreational dose very quick, so I used to poke them with a thumbtack, express them with pliers, and mix it in some really masking beverage, since it tastes just god awful. You could also dissolve the coatings in ginger ale, to reduce waste, but I never bothered.
Honestly, you either put up with gel-caps and the sorbitol pains, or you can try that syrup without any of that crap, and hope the syrupy weight doesn't bother you. I would figure I should handle the fullness much better than a stomach irritant/laxative, on my come up.
I'd say your best bet for easy on the stomach, and for good DXO potential, is through an extraction of some sort, preferably the Agent Lemon: Dual-Phase Acid-Base Extraction of DXM.
I’m an elementary teacher and every year I’d get sick with bronchitis and then had to take antibiotics which I hated. But last year I decided to try something more natural so I bought three things.

Hope you’re feeling better!
Dextromethorphan Hbr (aka your good old Robotripping). I prefer the cough gels. Of ALL the psychedelics and dissociatives I've tried, this legal substance available at every corner drug store has produced some of the most spectacular trips I've ever had (I'm talking doses around 975mg - only recommended for experienced users).
Be advised it comes in basically 2 forms: DXM Hbr (Hydrobromide) or DXM Polistirex. The mail difference is with the Polistirex the mantra is "half as strong/twice as long". So it depends on what you're going for - If you're looking for a strong psychedelic experience the obvious choice is the Hbr version. The Poli would be more suitable if you just wanted a really nice body buzz and cool headspace and be able to function all day.
And yea, no worries on a drug test for 2 reasons: 1) They don't test for it in the first place, and 2) it's LEGAL so even if it did show up on a drug test just tell em you had a fucking cold or something - lol
Edit: If that peaks your interest then here ya go: https://www.amazon.com/Robafen-Cough-Liquidgels-Dextromethorphan-Packs/dp/B00CSF8070/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1502049858&sr=8-2&keywords=robafen
At the very least, try to get your hands on some gabapentin or its brother phenibut. Your doctor probably won't have problems prescribing gabapentin. They're like benzo-lite and great for preventing seizures and GABA downregulation related withdrawal symptoms. With benzodiazepines tapering slowly is really the best option. It has the harshest withdrawal symptoms when stopped cold-turkey. Valium or Klonopin for slow withdrawal.
DXM helps with dopamine downregulation related withdrawal symptoms and NMDA antagonism for general pain. Kratom to help with serotonin downregulation and black hole depression.
Take magnesium supplements, because amphetamines are known to deplete magnesium and most people are deficient anyway. Magnesium helps with anxiety, pain through NMDA neuromodulation.
Propranolol for adrenergic symptoms like sweating, heart rate, blood pressure etc.
Buspirone, a very light weight anti-anxiety drug can help because it is a serotonin 5-HT1A receptor partial agonist. 5-HT1A is responsible for modulating all other serotonin receptors and has been shown to increase dopamine as well. 5-HT1A desensitization is linked to increased serotonin from all sources and is believe to be the mechanism behind SSRIs and why they take weeks to work (time to desensitize the 5-HT1A receptor). The autoreceptors must first densensitize before the concentration of extracellular serotonin in the synapse can become elevated.
Finally, outdoor exercise.

Their isn't a central registry for DXM purchases in TX, as far as I can tell, states even like CA that require an age to purchase (TX isn't actually one, it's just this guy's store policy) still don't have a central registry for one.
Anonymity helps this lady not one little bit, as it isn't illegal to purchase huge amounts of DXM.
Here's a helpful amazon link to buy it at $21 per 1.8g of DXM
Honestly the only place I can think of that sells 30mg/pill gel caps would be dollar stores like Dollar General, Dollar Tree, etc. You can get almost 300mg DXM for a couple dollars. There's also this very good deal on Amazon, 3 packs of 20 gel caps for $10. Or you can find a DXM powder vendor online and make your own capsules of DXM. Hope that helps somewhat.
Hey im sorry im just now rrplying, but that is great advice! This is the product i used https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00Q39EGIY/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A11RCBH5JFF63Z.
For me personally, weed + shrooms was great. How does smoking weed affect you on dxm?
Jesus Christ...had your parents never heard of "a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down"? 'Cause I'm pretty sure that's how it works.
If it helps, I use this stuff. It tastes great (and nothing like traditional cough syrup), and I just stir a tablespoon into a mug of water and drink it down.
There is this minty/sweet/fruity dark syrup that lots of Asian American families give to their kids when a sore throat arises. It's usually called Loquat Syrup, or Pi pa gao/Pei Pa Koa.
Example: http://www.amazon.com/Nin-Jiom-Pei-Pa-Koa/dp/B001FAQXD2/ref=pd_sim_sbs_misc_1
It tastes like delicious nostalgia and childhood stuff for some of my Chinese friends so they like to sip a spoonful to nuke chronic morning sore throat ASAP. Some sip a full tablespoonful undiluted because they like how thick it is, or you can dilute it a bit in a cup.
Second possible solution: my mother used to boil/stew giant yellow pears for a little while and put in those chunky crystals of sugar with them. I would drink this slightly sweet pear soup and carve hot fruit flesh out with a spoon. Ate the skin and all because it was entirely soft. Ate it because I had strep throat; was happy about it being a fruity dessert/snack.
Pregabalin/Lyrica and gabapentin are awesome. I prefer gabapentin, because pregabalin makes me feel too "domed" for daily use, and I got too tolerant and dependant.
So far, I've tried every gabapentinoid except Fluoro-phenibut. Out of all the gabapentinoids, gabapentin is probably my favourite, phenibut is probably my second favourite, and pregabalin is my third favourite.
I absolutely love all of them. It's too bad I can't use pregabalin more. I still have 50mg left from my old script, but I'm saving it for a really special occasion.
Tramadol is also an SNRI, but also a quite weak opioid. I wonder why it stopped working well.
You might be interested in NMDA antagonists like dextromethorphan/dextrorphan, or ketamine. They're pretty much the most effective neuropathic pain treatments.
Ket is schedule III, DXM is legal OTC (DO NOT USE ANYTHING WITH ACETAMINOPHEN, GUAIFENESIN, PHENYLEPHRINE, OR ANTI-HISTAMINES! Only use products with ONLY DEXTROMETHORPHAN AS THE ACTIVE INGREDIENT, such as RoboCough or Robafen NON-DROWSY)
EDIT: Since we're on the topic, DXM is also a weak SNRI, which you may like. DXM is mostly just an SNRI with a few other weak properties, but most of its effects come from its metabolite, Dextrorphan/DXO, which is an NMDA antagonist, SNRI, etc. I recommend trying DXM, it's insanely cheap and you can legally order it to your house
Amitriptyline is a TCA, but "TCA" is a chemical-therapeutic classification (its chemical structure is tricyclic, and its therapeutic goal is primarily as an antidepressant).
SNRI is a method of action (the pharmacological way the drug works).
There are 4 classification types for drugs, and mixes of them (such as the previously mentioned "chemical-therapeutic" class).
This classification groups drugs by their chemical properties, such as "steroid" or "tricyclic"
This classification groups drugs by their pharmacological action, such as "dopaminergic", "Serotonin-Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitor", and "COx Inhibitor"
This classification groups drugs by the anatomical/functional changes they induce, such as "bronchodilator", "antifungal", etc.
This classification groups drugs by their therapeutic goal(s), such as "analgesic", "sedative", "antidepressant", and "antiepileptic"
Here is what I take, I would certainly recommend them, and if it's your first time you must do an allergy test! This involves taking a small dose beforehand to make sure you don't have a rare dangerous enzyme deficiency. After you perform that safety test, I would recommend 200-250mg combined with a ton of Cannabis. Each bottle has 300mg total.
Robitussin Cough Gels
if you can find it buy these DXM capsule thingies , it works best. also, no alcohol and its always better to have a friend if your trip spirals out of hand.
>all of which any child can buy no questions asked.
In many states, you have to be 18 to buy cough syrup w/ DXM or any pseudoephedrine. And in certain states, you cannot buy more than x-amount of pseudoephedrine per month without a red flag going off^+. The other products, yes; but the sale of cough/cold medicine is typically watched closely just for this reason (and so that meth-heads can't buy tons of the stuff at a time). And I feel like if a ten-year-old went into NAPA and bought a bunch of ether (or even spray paint, for that matter), some questions would be asked.
^+ Edit: I was curious so I did a little research. Turns out pseudoephedrine is strictly regulated by the FDA and must be sold 'behind-the-counter' always (except for those tiny little 2-tablet pouches they sell at gas stations). Sales must also be recorded to prevent someone from buying tons of the stuff at a time. AFAIK, DXM is largely unregulated, though most of the popular stores (Safeway, Walgreens, Kroger), from my experience, require ID for any sort of cough/cold medicine purchase, regardless of its drug content.
*Edit2: But you can buy DXM off of fucking Amazon. So, yea, I feel your point still stands.
There's some data (and a long history of folk medicine) to suggest that ivy leaf extract is effective at soothing this kind of cough. Zarbee's Cough Plus Mucus contains ivy leaf extract; the other active ingredient is honey, so it's safe for children over 1.
Anecdotally, I tried it when I was at my wit's end with a cough (from post-nasal drip after a very bad cold) that was waking my 2 year-old all night for going on a week and seemed to be preventing him from getting the sleep he needed to get well. It worked like magic then and we've now used it a few more times with the same results. (We've only ever given one dose at bedtime. We don't medicate coughs during the day.)
I'm always slightly suspicious of so-called natural remedies if it means they're also untested and unproven. But this actually does seem to work for him, and our pediatrician is fine with it (unlike other OTC cough medicines like guaifenesin or dextromethorphan, which are a hard no). This site summarizes the state of research into ivy leaf for coughs: https://www.uofmhealth.org/health-library/hn-2116002
These are the most amazing thing ever invented. They are cough drops that have pectin in them, so they soothe your throat, they taste AMAZING, and because it's pectin and not chloraseptic or anything else that's bad to have too much of, you can eat them as candy- AS MUCH AS YOU WANT FOREVER!!!!
My pleasure! Don't know if you can get these, but they're great:

Amazon sells gelcaps at a good price
https://smile.amazon.com/Robitussin-Lingering-CoughGels-Long-Acting-Suppressant/dp/B005E74U3W/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1520608722&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=robitussin%2Bcough%2Bgels&th=1
If you don't want to down 20 or 60 gelcaps or have the shits, maybe robocough is for you. Its a 5 hour energy drink size bottle of 450mg of dxm hbr (they take paypal, you cannot buy directly from them on amazon anymore)
https://robocough.com
edit: if you meant like going to the store and buying them, cvs and walgreens have gelcaps. Syrups with only dxm hbr are pretty much impossible to find now. If you are insistent on it being a syrup, you could always try the agent lemon extraction.
Could you recommend a brand of DXM?
http://www.amazon.com/Creomulsion-Adult-Cough-Medicine-Ounce/dp/B006KXSOA4/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top this is the one I'm looking at now. It doesn't have any other active ingredients, and the inactive aren't anything bad, so I think it should be good.
These are the 2 safest ways to consume dxm. The soft gel tablets (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004ZIAVBQ) are great if you hate the taste but they are mg for mg more expensive than the liquid. The liquid robitussin is faster acting and is a slightly better value but I cannot find it online. It comes in a blue package though and contains only dxm as an AI. Never take dxm with acetaminophen or guaifenesin in it as you are likely to reach a toxic dose of those before you reach a recreational dose of dxm!
Look for these in a store, or you can buy straight from Amazon.
Usually the medicines (both syrups and gels) in a green box having guaif and the ones in a blue box don't.
You might need to check a few stores. CVS is usually pretty good about stocking them.

If you are looking to mainline a cough suppressant in a tablet form. you go for these bad boys.
They are like sticking a tin of Vaporub up your nostrils.
And BTW, the solution to your issue is gum. Go chew some.
Could you please supervise me on this, is it safe? I already ordered. Thanks a lot!

Yuuuup, these are what I buy lol Amazon Prime FTW
Robafen Cough Liquidgels Dextromethorphan HBr, USP 15mg, 20 Liquidgels (3 Packs) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CSF8070/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_WJQSAbX531XQA
don't listen to him, its horrible on your body and not only will it fuck up your liver, but you'll feel like shit for days. It's easy enough to get and certainly not worth taking guaf
edit: ive used these in the past, great product for the price and purpose
No idea if they're safe for pregnant women, but have you checked out any all natural cough syrups or lozenges? To be fair, most of them contain honey though... This one isn't honey based.
I believe the Robafen Cough Gels are the best bang for your buck on Amazon. Also, I've heard Dollar Tree's website sells cough gels for $1 per bottle, but I'm not gonna link it. It should be easy enough to find on Google.
> Fisherman's Friend
Hooray for the internet!
My doctor prescribed this and it worked well. Here's it's known as the best cough medicine
https://www.amazon.com/Nin-Jiom-Pei-Pa-Koa/dp/B001FAQXD2?th=1
Robitussin is the common brand name, but they also make varieties mixed with with other drugs now, you need to look at the ingredients and make sure what you're getting is nothing but Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide (DXM hBr). DXM Polistirex is also valid, though worse for the inexperienced; it's an extended-release variety that causes a weaker high for 3x as long (commonly sold as Delsym).
Robafen is a generic brand commonly available online. It's DXM hBr in gel capsules, which are way easier to swallow by the bottle than cough syrup. Buying it is legal in most places, including America.
As with any drug, do some research first. DXM has a reputation as a legal alternative to "real" drugs, but it's a serious high, not to be taken lightly. Erowid is the best place to start. https://erowid.org/chemicals/dxm/
I always go for these when I get a cold, have always thought they're better than other throat lozenges. Regular honey doesn't seem to cut it for me either. This company also makes a propolis throat spray and a syrup, i think they're all good for colds at least. They don't taste medicinal either

This is a great one if you want to just buy something quickly from amazon. It’s a Chinese medicine formula.
Welcome :)

It's hit or miss for me. I'm 18 and they usually just ask if I'm 18 and I say yeah and end of story. Sometimes tho usually if they're older they'll say "i need to see ID sir" especially if I buy the entire stock of dxm. Honestly I'd just try and buy it and if they ask for ID just say you forgot your wallet or something. You could also buy some on amazon and ship it to a amazon locker.(no ID needed and it's automatic so there isn't someone who hands you your package.)That's how I did it when I was 16,17 Robafen Cough Liquidgels Dextromethorphan HBr, USP 15mg, 20 Liquidgels (3 Packs) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CSF8070/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_wYcNAb81G8XMA
I usually use Fisherman's Friend throat lozenges. You should be able to pick them up in the pharmacy section of most larger grocery stores.
They really help clear up congestion in the nose and throat area.
i would be careful with the doxy man, theres a good chance 148mg is gonna cause some unpleasant feelings. But yeah just get some stuff with straight dxm. I got a link right here.
https://www.amazon.com/Robafen-Cough-Liquidgels-Dextromethorphan-Packs/dp/B00CSF8070?
...Fisherman's Friend
They taste terrible but they're reliable and effective.
This is what you're looking for. Least unpleasant method of ingestion I've found so far and accurate dosing. They sell gel caps in most pharmacies as well under their own generic brands.
I must've done the Reddit link wrong but this is what I found on cvs that I think is correct https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005E74U3W/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1502432161&sr=8-1&keywords=robitussin+cough+gels
I'm about 5'8" 160lbs and he is over 6ft but skinny as a rail, so prob weighs less than me.
Thanks for the help because I'm shit at conversions lol.

Look at the "Active Ingredients" part of the label, that's what you want to see. You should buy it locally because they are overpriced AF from Amazon.
Order on Amazon if you can (ship to a friend's house?) These have been good to me. Small & easy to swallow (like nothing if you squeeze the 'pill juice' into a cup and down w/ soda), and 300mg DXM per bottle. I'd say take 150 -250 or so mg for your first time.
Also, drinking the stuff just feels awful. Some people are good with it, but personally I can't stand the taste when I can just down some pills.
I usually buy Dxm pills on amazon, They are much easier to swallow. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EU7460I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
CVS has generic brand gel caps , 300 mg in total for around $5
Most grocery stores (Vons, Albertsons, etc.) also have a "signature brand" bottle of syrup with around 354 mg in them, for also around $5-6
Delsym ( my personal favorite, but it's DXM polystirex which is the extended release form, not DXM hbr which is what most people are looking for) and other extended release offbrands also only have DXM polystirex as their only main ingredient. it's pricier though.
also here's some gel caps on amazon https://www.amazon.com/Robitussin-Lingering-CoughGels-Long-Acting-Suppressant/dp/B005E74U3W/ref=pd_sim_121_4?_encoding=UTF8&refRID=5C0JW0VPCP5HFQ8PAXBQ&th=1
Is this the best type to get? I'm trying to do it for the first time and want to make sure I'm getting the right thing.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00CSF8070/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1496415699&sr=8-1&keywords=Dextromethorphan+gel
You look new to the sub so I'll assume this is an actual question. Let me explain. The only drug that you're looking for here is DXM Hbr/polistirex. Any other active ingredients that are going to be paired with it are NOT going to get you high and they will always have negative side effects that can really ruin your trip. This particular product also has Guaifenesin in it, which when taken in high enough doses to get a trip from the DXM will absolutely wreck your stomach. You'll be lucky if it doesn't come out of both holes. And I've heard it also causes kidney stones. Just stay away from anything that has any other active ingredients.
Try Robotussin cough gels or Robocough(if you live in the US.) These are both Hbr products.
If you're looking for polistirex try delsym 12 hour
The difference between poli and Hbr is that Hbr is not timed release, which means it's all absorbed ASAP which means strong high. Poli is timed release, which means you get about half of it at ingestion time, and half about 4 hours later. Rule of thumb for poli is "half as strong, twice as long." If you have more questions lmk
I weigh 170lbs and take four of these https://www.amazon.com/Robafen-Cough-Liquidgels-Dextromethorphan-Packs/dp/B00CSF8070 (five if I really want to be obliterated). 4 of those = 1200mg which should provide that level of trip for MOST people without a massive tolerance. Usually 1200mgs puts me on my ass for a good 8-10 hours and feels insanely dream like and nostalgic at the same time, it's hard to really explain.
Extremely fair point, I guesshere’s an alternative
How many pills would that be ? Like from this,
https://www.amazon.com/Robafen-Cough-Liquidgels-Dextromethorphan-Packs/dp/B00CSF8070
You can buy Robafen liquidgels on Amazon. They are the same as the Robitussin ones, but a little cheaper. They sell them in bulk too.
It’ll only show on your bank statement as an Amazon purchase.
I just order it on amazon

I got these from Wal-Mart my first time. But now I just have these from Amazon.

If you're willing to pay more these will work okay.
A few tips:
First off, make sure the stuff you have ONLY has DXM as an active ingredient. A lot of the "tussins" come with other stuff in it. Namely "guaifenesin". I made the mistake of not realizing this and got "robo rash" and severe itching. Both can be avoided by making sure the stuff you have ONLY has DXM.
I'd suggest going for the higher end of the first plateau (the calculator I used) for a first trip because a dissociative "high" is very different from alcohol, marijuana or opiods. You'll want to get a feel for it and you'll be sedated for some time, it lasts for hours from onset to peak and back down. Once you get how it feels, aim for a higher plateau. Something that is rarely mentioned is that your libido will be affected the higher the plateau.
Have some good music queued up. Very cool to listen to music while robo-trippin'
Liquid DXM has some alcohol in it. You'll feel it in addition to the effects of the DXM.
Be sure to do it on a nearly empty stomach so you have a "baseline". I've found that a completely empty stomach will prevent any effects. I've always had better luck with just a bit of food (half a sandwich, a few cookies, etc...) in my stomach.
For the future, I recommend these these. Nothing but DXM in a gelcap. No extra sugar, no guaifenesin, just good ol' DXM. No need to choke down that nasty syrup. That cherry aftertaste is quite un-appealing. I stopped having that sick/queasy feeling in my stomach I'd get from drinking the liquid.
Good luck, be careful and please let someone who can get to you physically know that way if shit goes south, you have an out. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.
I swear by this stuff. I stir a tablespoonful into throat coat tea when I’m sick. Obviously this doesn’t help you TODAY, but it’s good stuff to have around.
Beyond that, what everyone else said: throat coat tea (really any tea with slippery elm), vocal rest, cough drops. I have a director who makes us take Wellness whenever we start showing signs of illness- no idea if it works, but she’s really into it.
For on the go try these soooo cooold

I did a allergy test and made ginger tea. I used these

How about pill form dude?

If you have a Walmart near you I would suggest Robitussin Cough Gels. One bottle has 300mg of dxm in it. I prefer these as I cant stomach the syrup anymore.

There’s a guide on Erowid.org as far as how not to take too much, cause it will make you trip if you go overboard. 1mg/kg is more or less what I’ve been doing, every three or four nights.

You don't have to get pure DXM on a street corner.

Pills instead of syrup.
Here. I've seen them at Walmart, Walgreen's, and CVS.
No need to extract, here's a link to pure dxm for cheap
Robafen Cough Liquidgels Dextromethorphan HBr, USP 15mg, 20 Liquidgels (6 Packs) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EU7460I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_uD-CzbJ60WDFG
Alright, this ended up being way longer than I thought. If anyone thinks this is hailcorporate material go fuck yourself. I didn't spend half an hour collecting drug prices to be accused of advertising (on that note if the links are breaking any rules mods pls let me know and I'll remove them).
NyQuil:
650mg paracetamol
30mg dextromethorphan hbr
12.5mg doxylamine succinate
X48 Amazon - $16.62/$0.35 per dose
Dayquil
325mg paracetamol
10mg dextromethorphan hbr
5mg phenylephrine hcl
X48 Amazon - $14.91/$0.31 per dose
Paracetamol: 500mg X600 (Amazon) - $11.91
Dextromethorphan hbr: 15mg X60 (Amazon) - $9.99
Doxylamine succinate: 25mg X192 (Amazon)* - $9.49
Phenylephrine hcl: 10mg X36 ("Blowout Medical") - $2.10
10mg X72 (Rite Aid) - $10.99/$7.69 if you're a "member"
So!
$0.05205.
And a nyquil dose for
$0.02576 (650mg paracetamol) +
$0.03 (30mg dextromethorphan hbr) +
$0.02471 (12.5mg doxylamine succinate)
$0.08047
and excepting dextromethorphan we have only used generics/different brands of the medicines that are in NyQuil and DayQuil.
That's a big part of why I think those products are scams. Another slightly more subjective reason is that I think paracetamol and phenylephrine are both useless in most circumstances. I have found that pseudoephedrine is the most effective nasal decongestant by far (though definitely more expensive), and that phenylephrine has little or no effect on symptoms of relevant illnesses.
I would recommend Chloraseptic and menthol for coughs instead of dextromethorphan as well.
It still boggles my mind that people buy shit like NyQuil, Excedrin (literally just caffeine and paracetamol, and we already know how cheap paracetamol is), etc. when the active ingredients can often be bought off the very same shelves
