I worked in a program (mod/severe SPED with severe to profound kids) and we had a 10 day green snot policy. Yeah, they had to have green snot for 10 (school) days before we could keep them away from school and tell them to get cleared by a doctor. We had one mom who would never go to the doctor because her son "just had allergies." We'd have parents send them to school knowing they were sick. They would A) screen our calls to the point where we would have to put a cell phone on private to get them to pick up, B) argue whether they have to actually pick up the kid, C) tell us "yeah we knew they were sick, I just wanted to see how they would do once they got to school."

These kids don't know how to cover their coughs, wipe their noses, and pick their noses constantly. So you're constantly having to tell kids to wash their hands (I have a hard time saying the phrase "wash hands" in any setting without following it with "soap water"). They rub their snot on you. (The phrase, "We don't rub snot on our friends" should never have to come out of your mouth.) You also have to wear gloves and help them blow their nose because they can't do it themselves. The joys.

My suggestions that always work. Lots of fluids (doesn't matter what it is, just matters that its fluids). Eat healthy (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Alka-Seltzer Cold and Sinus. Yeah the effervescent stuff tastes like crap but its a magical elixir from the gods. Mucinex. The good stuff from behind the pharmacy counter. Sudafed 12 hour. Get the 12 hour. The good stuff from behind the pharmacy counter. Delysum. Yes, it is expensive. But it is the best cough medicine out there. Period.

I've missed 5 days in the last 5 years of actual sick time with colds and that's because I was running fevers over 102 and on strict doctors orders not to go to work. I dope myself up on the above concoction and go for it.

Ah yes, they NEED to have these prices.

A nice little 5555% markup of a consumer available non-bulk purchase for the convenience of slapping them in a separate package. Truly an efficient system that worries about paying the employees and not at all inflating Pharma company vaults.

well... with a quick search this is what i could find...i used to buy it (or steal it,ahem) for about 5 or 6 bucks, so yeah...im guessing they don't make it any more. i also used to do what we affectionately called "triple c's" or Coricidin Cough and Cold. they still sell this, but it's still not straight dxm.

for that you want to do either Delsym or Robitussin Liquid Caps. i would recommend any of these over the op's product. just too much liquid to take. you're way more likely to puke.

oh, also they have straight powder on the webz, but i have no idea the legality of that...i'm fairly positive it's legal most places.

but guys please be sure to read ingredients and background info on this kinda stuff! it's dangerous if you get the wrong shit. and you need to know the right amount to take and what exactly you're in for.

well, those who read this, i certainly hope it helps. :)

delsym's DXM is different than the one I used to use. I used to lift Dayquil Cough, which was only DXM. Delsym tends to make me barf cause Delsym has Dextromethorphan Polisterex, AKA extended release DXM, you want Dextromethorphan HBr. Next time I suggest trying to find Dayquil Cough. This is what it looks like to make it easier. https://www.amazon.com/Vicks-Dayquil-Citrus-Flavor-Liquid/dp/B005JRGUH6/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1511978325&sr=8-3&keywords=dayquil+cough

AFAIK, nost syrup in the United States that has DM on it contains guaifenesin. That is generally how they label it here, like this.

u/Tamoss · 2 pointsr/TryingForABaby

Is it an option to order something similar on Amazon UK? I found that they sell Robitussin which contains Guaifenesin.

At least that's what I do when I can't find something in Belgium. :)

u/Eskaminagaga · 2 pointsr/NoStupidQuestions

No, in this case, looking up the product on Amazon, the original bag contains 30 cough drops, so this is 30% more than than that bag. The "30 drops + 10 Free" is the indication of that.

nature's way umcka cold care product has pelargonium in it. isn't natures way legitimate?
http://www.amazon.com/Natures-Way-Umcka-Original-Drops/dp/B000JF3F1M
the pelargonium may not be standardized for pelargonium sidoides though

These are pretty close...

Thai Jintan is the official distributing agent of Morishita Jintan, so it seems to be original.

There is a same product on amazon.in, and it will be cheaper than amazon.com.

Yep - the common brand name is Delsym. I have indeed tried it and it is exactly what you would think - an extra-long DXM trip. Only take it if you have nothing important to do in the next 12 hours.

If she has a bad or metallic taste in her mouth all the time or food tastes seem to linger, here have a couple tricks that helped me:

Ricola Revitalizing Herb Drops with B Vitamins, Lemon Zest, 18 drops each https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TEP32ES/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_pgOBxb7G5T64T

Colgate Toothpaste Whitening with Peroxide and Baking Soda Oxygen Bubbles Brisk Mint - 2.8 oz, 4 Pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HVG15I2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_8hOBxbXEPTC8N

Some healthy foods that worked well for me (on and off): peanut butter and toast, cereal, baked potato, grilled cheese, and fruits like strawberries, apples, grapes cut into small pieces so I could nibble on them slowly.

Edit: added more food suggestions

Some Chinese made products still use that in their logos.

5 cal per cough drop.
