Ok, this is what got me through engineering undergrad:

  • A zipper binder. Carry all your notebooks and writing utensils and a calculator.

  • Similar to your notebook choice: Wirebound + 3-hole notebook so it goes in your zipper binder. One for each note-taking class.

  • Binder 3-hole punch, if when you get handouts in class that you want to put in your notebooks chronologically, but hasn't been punched.

  • Hole protectors. You'll need them. Trust me.

  • 0.3mm lead is a lot easier to come by than 0.2mm. Get a good 0.3mm drafting pencil instead. Get a good eraser too - don't get used to using the shitting pencil-tip erasers. A bonus to using non-standard lead pencils - people are much less likely to bum lead off you.

  • Scientific calculator. You really don't need a graphing calculator, in my experience. Anything beyond a Scientific calculator you can do it on Mathematica or MatLab or Maple or whatever your school provides on their computer labs. Look through this list and choose one, because you'll eventually use that on your FE/PE exams, and it's better to walk into those exams with 4 years of experience on your calculator already.

  • Eventually you'll be printing out your résumé, and shitty computer paper isn't going to do it. Don't shell out for stupid "résumé paper", I have a whole rant about that and the paper industry's creation of fictitious product demands, but that's another story. Make your résumé professional, concise, and elegant (good résumé-writing is worth another lengthy discussion), and then print it out on some cardstock - a bit firmer, a bit more professional than crappy computer paper.

All of this will probably fit in your cool zipper binder.

    This was kinda fun, actually.

What I prefer to do is put all my cards in binders. I have four 2" binders with each of them having 100 pages of 9-Pocket Plastic Sheets. If you go the path of the card holders for binders, I would suggest making sure to only put one card in each pocket, otherwise the pockets will get expanded then the cards will fall out really easily.

I sort the cards by set then the number within the set. There is one binder for trainer cards, one for energy cards (sorted by type, then set), and two binders for the pokémon. The benefit of this system is that it is easy to find specific cards and it is easy to organize and when new sets come out, a total rearrangement isn't necessary.

I used this binder and these sheets. The binder fits the Base, Alchemy, Prosperity, Empires, Intrigue (2nd ed.), and the 2nd ed. Base cards. I can probably get one more expansion in comfortably.

As far as organization goes, I have a sheet for starting decks and one for the base victory cards and smaller sets of treasures (like Potions and Platinum). Base treasure cards fit in one of the mesh inserts.

Kingdom cards are sorted alphabetically with the randomizer card in each slot to save place (to build kingdoms I use an app on my phone). Each letter starts on a new sheet, so for example if there were 7 "A" cards I would skip the last two slots on the page so that "B" starts on a new page. This gives me some room if I need to insert cards from a new expansion.

I bought a small plastic organizing case at a dollar store for all the victory and coin tokens, which fits in one of the mesh pockets of the binder, along with the rulebooks and mats.

Everything stays put when travelling (even if the binder happens to get flipped upside down!).

Because the binder is small, flimsy, cards easily slide out, pages tear easily, and the cards aren't very well protected. I would only recommend it to people that are super careful with their stuff, don't transport it much, and plan on using it purely to collect in a safe environment. Visually it looks good, and it technically does the job fine, but I wouldn't trust it to protect a expensive collection.

High durability Binder for $6: http://www.amazon.com/Wilson-Jones-Durable-Customizable-W86660/dp/B00CPXDSGS

9-Pocket Pages (50~100 count) cost anywhere from $6~$20 depending on the brand, count, quality, and style you go for. I personally recommend getting Ultra Pro side-loading pages with 9 slots on each side (18 slots per page): http://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Pro-3-Hole-Side-Load-Pocket/dp/B009WU5EG4/

I’ve been struggling to find the time between work, family etc to unpack the 3 conversion boxes and reorganise all my cards and cardboard. This weekend I was family-less so spent an afternoon (with a mighty fine whiskey or two) to unpack, punch, organise and file.

For those interested, the foam storage solution is from Feldherr (as is the carry case I use, though that’s not in-shot), I have 3 mats in the tube, and all my cards and large tokens (obstacles, bombs, etc) are in the filing case on the left.

Happy to share more info and product codes for the storage stuff if anyone is interested.

Oh, and there’s the 5 epic ships (when are those being converted?!), a Lambda shuttle, a second Falcon and a Tie Silencer on display in my office, so not in shot either!

You could look into springback binders, such as the Leuchtturm Peka. They look like nice bound notebooks, but is a cover for looseleaf that holds together from the pressure of a hidden spring, and released by folding the covers backwards.

The Peka is bigger than I'd personally want for a journal, but maybe you can find something else. The Sorta Notebook looked awesome, but they've been "coming soon" for a couple years at this point, I think.

I def dig the pleather/leather w/e but if you really wanted to go for size you could get a six inch binder like this or this

You can organize the whole collection into 2 binder bags for less than $15.

Go to staples and get 2 of text for $6 on clearance.

Go to your local game shop and buy 30 - 40 sheets meant as collectable card holders, the 3 by 3 kind by Ultra Pro, they're about 5 for $1.

The width of the Dominion cards are narrower than standard cards that the sheets are designed to hold, so you can put the whole set of 10 cards for each Kingdom card design into 1 slot, doing this each expansion only takes up 3 sheets.

There's a nice addition included in the binders that have room for each manual and a zipper pocket with enough room for the coin and curse cards.

Here's what my bag with the big box set in it looks like:

Closed binder

Base cards and starting hands

First 9 Kingdom cards, 10 (mayday) sleeved cards in each slot

Binder opened in the middle, 6 empty sheets for Intrigue and Seaside when I get them

I'm gonna get the rest of the expansions too and put them in a second bag. Then I'll hang them on my wall for easy storage!

I have everything kept in 2 of these. Pretty sure I have dual three inch rings but I can never find one that big anymore

Weird. I'm an elementary school teacher and can't imagine why such a large binder would be necessary. Maybe the teacher somehow expects 4th graders to go home and study.

Get a binder with slanted "rings" like the ones used in offices: https://www.amazon.com/Cardinal-Extra-Wide-ONE-Touch-650-Sheet-13330/dp/B000OCN9SE/ref=sr_1_8?crid=27XNRB0BBL1UU&keywords=3+inch+binder+easy+open&qid=1564963546&s=gateway&sprefix=3+inch+binder+eas%2Caps%2C619&sr=8-8

We don't have three-ring binders, you'll find either two or four rings. The inside pockets are very uncommon, but I found one kind with them that's close to yours:

Generally, your search terms for that are "Ringbuch"+"Taschen", you can see for yourself if you find any more to choose from.

Ahh, the "What the FUCK is THAT?!" Bug. This brings back memories of Middle School in Michigan. It was the end of the year, and (to discourage pranks) the school had metal detectors set up at the entrances (Detroit, am I right?). I walked through and glanced at the wall to see one of these, and in my juvenile mind, it was 6 inches long. In retrospect I'm sure it was only about 3, but it was sizable. As soon as I saw it, it sped behind a framed class picture. Terrified by its speed and appearance, I immediately told one of the nearby janitors. He begrudgingly (and probably doubtingly) moved the frame, and to his surprise, there was the creature I described. Multiple children and a few teachers nearby screamed, the speedy insect ran around the corner, and as I followed, I turned the corner just in time to witness another student throw his zipper binder at the speed demon, and connect. Everyone gathered around to observe the dead, smashed remains of the many-legged beast, and the teachers quickly shuffled us students to class while the janitors cleaned up the scene. I'm fairly certain the hero child that killed it did not reclaim his binder.
