>Or, you know, you just used the cables Apple provided, which they could be certain met the necessary safety standards, unlike some $1 cable that probably doesn't but who cares?

<laughs> You've got a lot of faith in a company that doesn't give a shit about you. Enough to spout nonsense you know nothing about, and called the bluff of the wrong person. The $1 cable I referred to is one I've bought many of, of various lengths, as I don't like messy cables. It's a C7, or C7P plug, and it, like C5 cables plugs, and virtually all other US lamps, largely use the same wire. So much so, it's called "lamp wire". It's a pair of 18awg cable. Now this is the part where your little indignance breaks down, and it's gonna involve numbers that aren't money, so stay with me. 18awg cable is capable of running 10 amps over 120v power, so long as it isn't over 50 feet. The Apple cable is required to provide enough to supply a Macbook with, at most, 85 watts of power. Watts are calculated by multiplying voltage by amperage. So the Apple cable is required to supply 85. My $1 cable you doubt so much is capable of supplying 1200.

Truth be told, the Apple cable is likely 18 as well, possibly 20awg, since they like making money. But at this point it's pretty clear you don't know what you're talking about, but are heavily, emotionally invested in your opinion, and may want to rethink your opinions on Apple and your discretionary income choices.

>Probably because quality and safety cost money, hence the USB power supplies from reputable brands, that won't burn your house down, aren't $1 from eBay.

As I've shown above: No. It's just cuz Apple likes overcharging people, and people who like Apple appear to like getting overcharged, then get very defensive when it's pointed out. I take safety very seriously--more so than I care to explain right now, and far more than you'd likely believe. The $1 cables aren't from Ebay, but they also weren't USB cables. Please try to follow along. USB has become a very convoluted standard that requires a great deal of research to ensure you're getting what you need. There are some dangerous cables out there, so you need to be aware of what you're getting. They're going to cost more than $1, but a 6ft cable isn't $30. That's just you buying an Apple executive another vacation home.

>You won't be buying the stand unless you're buying the monitor.
>
>This isn't for your "gaming rig", it's for people that have the budgets to pay for it, where time is money, and don't want to waste time finding a cheaper alternative.

<googles "VESA compliant monitor mount"> Oh look. I found a cheaper alternative. It only took me <looks at non-existent watch> 10 seconds. At $970 savings, I'm saving almost $350,000 an hour! Boy, that certainly isn't worth "wasting time to find a cheaper alternative." Yeah, if I'm a business with a budget, it's certainly much better to just spend an extra $1,000 for every single one of these monitors we buy. That money clearly couldn't be better spent somewhere else.

But wait! There's more! True to Apple's philosophy of proprietary bullshit I explained earlier, they've made certain their monitor is not VESA compliant. Why, you ask? I'll tell you! This way if people come to their senses (as many have over this) and decide they don't want to pay Apple $1,000 for a ridiculously overpriced stand, they'll instead still be forced to pay Apple $200 for the adapter to that makes the monitor VESA compliant! Either way you go, Apple screws you over! :D

Noticing a pattern?

Oh, and their justification for this bullshit? It pivots between landscape and portrait, and has a magnet so you can disconnect it and take it with you. Now, the $30 option I showed also spins 360 degrees, so I guess they had to up their game to justify this nonsense by adding another feature that seems more like a solution looking for a problem than an innovation. I don't know why anyone needs to quickly disconnect and travel with a monitor that's the size of a small TV--it's not exactly convenient to transport something like that, but I give them points for the sheer audacity of suggesting this level of shit to justify another "innovation" they could use to rip people off even more. Bonus: If they encourage people to carry around a $5,000 monitor, there's a chance it'll get as destroyed just like an iPhone, requiring them to buy another!

Again, noticing a pattern?

Give if a month or so. Someone'll sell a better version of their VESA mount adapter for $50 on Amazon.

>By whinging about the cost of something you aren't required to buy. You don't even need to buy it even to use that monitor, you could of course find your own stand if you're willing to put in the time.

Ah, apparently you weren't aware of the $200 Sucker Tax. :) Yeah, the whole "Oh, but you're not required to buy it! We're doing you a favor!" line falls apart when everyone just realizes even Apple didn't think they could get away with charging an extra $1000 for the monitor by forcing people to buy the stand as well. That make it nearly double the cost of Dell's version, and they wanted to stay under Eizo and Sony. So, instead, it's a $5200 monitor, minimum. They're just milking the intended demographic, hoping they'll shell out more for overpriced nonsense because they're settling for the Apple XDR instead of getting a far more expensive reference monitor, but anyone in that same market is also going to look at others making similar products, so they still have to stay competitive. Brass tacks? You're the one who mentioned the monitor--I don't care about it. I said the stand is bullshit, because the ability to pivot, rotate and "easily disconnect" a 32" display does not justify a $1000 cost. Nor does a simple adapter for VESA compliance justify a $200 cost.

>I say this as someone who literally yesterday had to spend time filing down my new "VESA desk mount" to fit my expensive monitor

I'm hoping you're not saying it would be wiser to spend 1,000 USD than to spend a few minutes filing down a monitor mount. I'll stick with my middle-ground of buying VESA mounts that meet the typical 75 or 100mm standard, as I've never had any issues with them. It sounds like you got a low quality VESA mount, but the wonderful thing about standards is that you can measure both the monitor and the mount, and see who actually screwed up!

Hello Friend. I have the same setup, so here's a few tips that might help you:

Pencil/Case: You're going to need a place to put the pencil, and its great to have it always handy, so think about that when you buy a case. The apple case is super expensive and offers the least amount of protection because it exposes the entire back of the iPad. I wouldn't recommend it, there are better, cheaper options out there. I went through two different cases to find one that suited me best. In general there seems to be basically two styles of cases, bi-fold and tri-fold. It really it all comes down to preference as to how you're going to use/hold your iPad.

The first style of case (and the first case that I bought) was a bi-fold case. This case is best for holding the ipad flat (with the back folded over, or standing up on a table. I bought this one Ztotop Premium Leather Business Slim Folding Stand Fiolio Cover specifically because of the pencil holder. However, it turns out that it is somewhat thicker than I had hoped, and the style of case in general doesn't provide a good way to have the iPad raised at a low angle, which I preferred when using the iPad on the couch. Picture 1 - Closed, Picture 2 - Standing Up

The second case I bought (and the one I am currently using) is one that is made out of TPU, the same soft rubber material that a lot of phone cases are made out of, and has a tri-fold design similar to the official Apple case. The difference being it also protects the back of the iPad. After looking through a ton of similar looking cases, finally I settled on this one DTTO Smart Cover Case. It fits the iPad really well, its thin, and similar to what I have on my phone. Picture 1 - TPU Case
, Picture 2 - TPU Case Low Angle, Picture 3 - TPU Case High Angle, Picture 4 - TPU Case Closed

The only downside to this case is it has no place to put the pencil, so to solve this problem I bought these little guys: Leuchtturm 1917 - Black Pen Loops to stick to the back of the case. They fit the pencil extremely well and hold it tight. The problem with these is that the way the loop is oriented (and the side of the square that the adhesive is on) is the wrong way around. If I was to stick it on the back of the iPad with the adhesive, the pencil would actually "hang off the bottom" instead of sitting "up" against the side of the case. To solve this, I just used some black gorilla tape to attach it the correct way around. The other thing is found was when holding the iPad on the sides (with both hands) and the pencil in the loop, a single loop made the pencil wobble around when trying to hold it. I added a second loop for improved stability, and it feels excellent. I can understand if maybe the gorilla tape thing isn't your style, but it honestly doesn't look bad in real life and the usability and strength is top notch. Picture 1 - Back of Case
, Picture 2 - Strong Loops

Apps: Others have more to offer here, but here's my $0.02:

  • Reddit Client - Apollo (will have more iPad functionality to come, but extremely promising
  • Copying Files - Readdle Documents 6
  • Ad-Blocker for Safari - There are many good options, but I use Adguard and have been happy with it

    Other usability things

  • Be sure to add the battery widget to your widgets screen (left of home screen) so you can see the current battery % of the apple pencil
  • If you don't already, learn to use the dock as much as possible, putting commonly used apps near each other. For example, for me it is common to flip between safari, Apollo, gmail, and messaging apps, and settings. These are all on my dock, and I can bring them up from inside any other apps with just a quick swipe. It is a "new" great feature on the iPad and makes multitasking much easier. Remember, you can also create folders on the dock.
  • Unless you're doing color-accurate work, enable TrueTone, it makes colors look nice by adjusting the white balance of the display to match the ambient light in the room.
  • Before using the apple pencil, wipe the tip off on your shirt or pants. It's a really quick thing to do and will make sure there's no small piece of dirt or sand on the tip which could scratch your screen. Some people like screen protectors, but personally I'm not a fan because they either degrade the image quality by causing rainbow effects or grainyness, reduce the contrast, or in the case of the tempered screen protectors, you lose the unique anti-reflective coating found on the iPad Pro. The 120hz screen on the iPad Pro is incredible, I recommend looking at it the way it was designed and just being careful about scratches, dirt, and pocket sand.
  • You can move the keyboard up/down or split it to the sides for easier typing on the large screen. This ins't a new feature, but wasn't immediately apparent to my when I started using my iPad.
  • When charging the Apple Pencil, you can stick the cap to the screen just above where the speakers are. The magnets in the speakers will hold it there.
  • Also in regards to charging the pencil, the connector isn't solid as it may first appear. It actually does have a hinge on the pencil side to allow the pencil to bend slightly while it is plugged into the bottom of the iPad. So don't worry, it won't snap off.

Cables: I bought a longer 6' cable so I could charge my iPad on the end table when I'm not using it.

  • Anker makes good quality stuff, and this is the beefiest lightning cable I've come across: Anker PowerLine II. MFi Certified, cheaper than the official cable, built like a tank, and has a lifetime warranty.

Unfortunatley a console just isn't a competitvle platform for tons of reasons. If you want to actually get into competitive Fortnite, I wrote a guide on how to get into PC gaming for as cheap as possible with new hardware.

INTRODUCTION

You are probably wondering what qualifies me to hold these opinions on this topic. Well, I have been gaming on PC for nearly a decade since I started playing minecraft alpha on a potato HP laptop in the 6th grade. I built my first PC in the 8th grade, and since then I have helped build over a dozen systems for friends an family members and friends of family members and family members of friends. Building PCs is one of my favorite things to do, and I am always looking to help more people to make the switch in a cost effective manner.

First off, here is some gameplay from a 1050ti and an i5 7400. These components are more than adequate to surpass 144fps at stretched res and low settings. His whole channel has game play vids of his hardware running popular pc games, and the 1050ti is a little powerhouse for its size. This PC can do much more than run fortnite. It is perfect for competitive CSGO too. Really, this pc will have no problems running competitive shooters and MOBAS at 144fps, and RPGs at 60fps.

While this pc might not be the fastest pc out there, the important part is that it is leagues better than a console. If not for the simple fact that you can turn off shadows and play stretched res, never mind that it averages 144 fps.

.

.

THE BUILD

.

.

Here is the pc part picker list. The 8100 i3 is 11% faster than the 7400 i5 in that video. If you are worried about actually building a PC, don't be. I built my first rig when I was in the 8th grade, and it took less than an hour and booted first time. This video is a great tutorial. Even though the components they are using are different, PC hardware is standardized and the build process is the exact same.

I would get that PC and worry about peripherials later, assuming you already have a computer monitor of some kind at home along with a shitty mouse and keyboard. And if you already game with headphones on your console, there are adapters you can use to plug your console headset into your pc.

.

.

WHAT TO GET NEXT

.

.

Everything after this point is non critical, but will make your experience so much better. I put them in order of importance to your game play experience.

MONITOR

The next purchase you should make after that is this AOC 144hz gsync compatible monitor. Its a great panel, and the gsync works great for eliminating micro stutter and screen tearing. "But /u/RedZaturn, why would you get 144hz when 240hz is a thing!?!?!?" Well timmy, a good 240hz adaptive sync monitor costs almost as much as this entire PC. And whats the point of spending $400 on a monitor that you PC can't even come close to properly utilizing? A build that can properly run fortnite at 240hz is gonna cost closer to $1000, and add in a $400 monitor and the price gets steep quick. Just get a 144hz monitor and stop worrying about it.

**MOUSE AND PAD*

After that, get a good mouse with a decent sensor. Optical mice are generally better than laser mice. The m65 is a good FPS style mouse and your scroll wheel click, scroll up, scroll down, thumb forward, and thumb backward are all assignable.A large mouse pad that takes up your entire desk is also a good thing to get. When playing shooters, you want your DPI to be much less sensitive than what your average non gamer has their mouse set to. This allows you to be much more accurate, and the lower your sens the more room you need to move your mouse.

MECHANICAL KEEB

After that, Get a mechanical keyboard with the switch of your choice. I prefer reds. Cherry MX switches are the most trusted out there, but any mechanical switch will be better than a membrane keyboard.

OPENING THE SAILS TO ACQUIRE A COPY OF WINDOWS

If you have an old windows pc lying around you can use the key off of the sticker on the case to activate pirated windows. If the activate windows watermark doesn't bother you, there is no point worrying about buying a legitimate copy.

.

.

CONCLUSION**

.

.

Basically, building a PC isn't a sprint. You don't have to buy all the top end gear to have a better experience than what you get on a console. Streamers like ninja and tfue have their crazy powerful systems because they make crazy amounts of money. But it is completely overkill for what they play. And upgrading components slowly over time is how I did it almost a decade ago. I stuffed a GPU into my super old and slow PC just to get 60fps in counter strike source. Played on a shitty mouse and keyboard that my school threw out and I snagged from the trash. Used an old plasma vga monitor from a PC my dad bought in 2003 that looked absolutely horrible. And I loved every second of it. If you have any questions feel free to ask in the comments!

u/uncashregistered · 3 pointsr/LearnCSGO

You can start with a SteelSeries QcK+, or QcK Heavy, depending on if you want the pad to be thicker. Personally I don't like these because they're pretty rough and give me friction burns on my wrist, so if you're worried about that happening to you there's other options like Glorious XL, Razer Gigantus, Zowie G-SR, HyperX Fury S (this one is also rough for me but not as bad as QcK), and there's many more but that's a few off the top of my head. Some are a bit pricey though. If you really want some good info and help from more people, make a post on /r/mousereview saying what games you play and what kind of features, if any, you're looking for. They help me out with mouse related stuff all the time, and I'm also pretty active there too haha.

More than likely the QcK+ will be plenty for you as long as it isn't too rough for you. Seems to be an uncommon problem, but I have talked to other people with the issue. Just try to find a pad that's at least 40cm (400mm) or 16in or so wide, that's the most important thing. Some people swear by the Allsop Raindrop XL even though it's a bit on the small side for me. If you're around 900-1000 eDPI you should be fine with this one, I like it a lot, just wish it had a couple more inches in each dimension.

I have this mousepad (the CompLexity team version) coming in tomorrow if you want to wait and see if I recommend it.

Apologies for the wall of text, I'm kind of into this stuff, probably too much haha.

CPU: This was probably the one part I had a bit of trouble deciding what to go with. Since I'm not familiar with what your workloads entail, I just went for the Ryzen 5 2600. It's the most powerful processor that fits the budget, and I doubt anything you do would require more that a 6 core 12 thread processor. Overkill, maybe, but it will last you a good long while

Motherboard: The B450 Tomahawk is one of the best B450 boards, not a ton to explain here.

RAM: Just a 16 GB kit of DDR4 3000 MHz RAM, nothing special

SSD: The cheapest 1 TB SSD, somehow, even though it is a very good drive. It's on sale on newegg for 10% off, make sure to grab it now.
GPU: It didn't sound like you were going to play any games that needed a ton of GPU power. Heck, even an RX 580 is probably overkill for you. Still, nearly any game can run at 1080p 60 FPS on it, so if you get a new game, you should be fine.

Case: I know you didn't want anything too flashy, and while this case does have a side window and LED fans, it shouldn't pop out too much. Besides, having 2 fans preinstalled takes care of airflow for the components.

PSU: Good, high-wattage PSU from a trusted brand with a 5 year warranty. Enough said.

WiFi/BT card: This is the cheapest ac WiFi card that also has bluetooth, and it has good reviews. Should do fine

Monitor: The cheapest 1080p 60FPS monitor with a VA or IPS panel and VESA mounting. (Also, here's a relatively cheap compatible VESA mount)

I have so many strong opinions about this topic!

  • 3'x5' inset table from BoardGameTables.com

  • Dice trays I made using these wooden plaques, wood stain, and some felt. I have enough of them so that they don't have to be passed around. Really keeps people from messing up board states but feels more rewarding than using a dice tower.

  • This poker chip set and these chip trays have been my main replacement for paper currency for years now. They're heavy, have decent denomination range, feel amazing to fiddle with while playing a game, and make it super simple to count things out.

  • I use these business card holders to hold multiple stacks of cards at once. Great for FFG games that go crazy with those little cards. Saves a ton of space and keeps the stacks from falling.

  • At every opportunity, I use these stackable bead containers. I buy out the inventory whenever I see them at a craft store. The threading is slightly different in thickness between the ones sold at Michael's and Hobby Lobby, which Michael's seemingly better quality overall. They are absolutely vital for Le Havre, makes setup time like 30 seconds rather than ages.

I switched from console for better framerate since I didn't care about "next-gen" 4k graphics at 30fps. I quit controller cold turkey and never looked back. Unfortunately, there is a high barrier to entry so I like to help people switch and have a good experience instead of pure frustration and end up reverting back to using a controller.

  1. After you've decided on your keybinds, watch a video on build techniques and practice the ones you want a few times each day. Then there are discords that host FFA game modes in creative to practice fighting others without having to queue, loot and farm, die, repeat. I actually think the latest storm wars maps are close to realistic and more fun than Champs arena games, so it's the only thing I've played outside of WC competitions lately. Kovaak's is a popular "game" on steam used to train your aim specifically.

  2. I think you're right, blindly copying 1 person is not be the best strategy. But, changing muscle memory is hard and pyramid is considered one of the best builds in the current meta imo, so you should try to get used to using all 4 or it might become harder later. I use Q(wall), E(ramp), C(floor), V(roof) for my builds using my thumb C and V (this was hard to get used to but worth it imo). Consider turning on sprint by default and using left shit for edit. CTRL is crouch and R is reload in every single game I play. I also recommend getting a big mouse pad and setting your sensitivity low if you want to get truly good aim.

This keybinding philosophy guide is pretty decent at describing the reasoning behind choosing certain keybinds over others.

I also highly recommend using these scroll wheel keybinds many of which could definitely be considered unfair advantage.

  3. This is a good segue into my final piece of advice. Unfortunately if you haven't noticed, Epic Games does not seem to care what happens to the "competitive" scene of Fortnite and they definitely don't care about optimizing the game for PC... So I doubt any of those features are coming anytime soon. I recommend also getting into another game like CSGO, Apex Legends, or Halo on PC when it launches to help practice general mnk mechanics as well. Public Fortnite matches will likely just frustrate you until you've built up some muscle memory (estimated 2-4 weeks to get back to your level on controller if you practice daily).

Feel free to dm me if you have more questions.

whats your mouse? i dont know if training in this position is really....benefitial. Or maybe i am imaging it incorrect?! If you WANT to improve at this point then the casual mindset will be completely gone in a month or two...thats what happened with all of us. When i started i was like "oh yea i dont really care, my aim will be bad but it will be fun i guess" and now i train aim almost everyday and play on EU Supreme Elo, ESEA and in a Team...RIP :D

If there REALLY is no option for you to play on a table, then maybe the best option would be something like this: http://www.amazon.de/COUCHMASTER%C2%AE-Pro-PC-Gaming-integriertes-Kabelmanagement/dp/B00CCHRJ2Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1451049748&sr=8-1&keywords=COUCHMASTER%C2%AE+Pro

that would be a hard surface with a good mousepad and that is really important for decent aim.

Edit: before i get more downvotes on that while i just try to help: i am not suggesting to buy this...its the idea...you can also build something like that.

Great work!

I do agree, that the 'multi arm' approach is the way to go (EDIT: triple arm minimum, as I just did some testing and with only two arms there is really no way to effectively stabilize 'anything' that you are holding as the item tends to easily rotate out of control), unless you have access to a 3d printer and effectively free filament, etc.

The geared linear approach was done as a 'cheapest' first attempt to duplicate TempestVR's and tomotomox's work in linking a robot directly to VAM. After having done that, and then done the tcp/ip connection, I moved directly now to the multiple servo/axis approach. It is funny how much less printing will be required, lol.

Also, in ref to the geared linear approach, I was working on modifying the gear for the 20kg amazon servo I had bought DS3218MG ( https://www.amazon.com/ANNIMOS-Digital-Waterproof-DS3218MG-Control/dp/B076CNKQX4) as seen here ( https://imgur.com/a/OMaqHPL ), and per the dimensions in the images for the servo, the arm has a stated furthest hole of 23.5mm, turns out I had to do a few prints of test gears as the hole was actually at 24.5mm! Not to mention, where the central 'hub' is, it is different from the MG995R, so, that then now threw off the 'gearing' being properly mated and so then there is play between the rack and pinion, lol! With a multiple servo/axis setup, that wouldn't be an issue at all! The only alignment issues are effectively those due to the proper synchronized control of the 2+ servos.

I looked into using the ram mount too, and like it, but I think I'm going to go with this https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Monitor-Adjustable-Articulating-STAND-V001/dp/B00B21TLQU/ , it is meant for holding up 22 pound monitors, so I think it shouldn't oscillate too much while the robot is in motion. In addition it can be mounted to a desk, to the side of a bed, and has a nice long articulating arm and 75 and 100mm VESA mounts which will be easy to 3d print something to attach to. A non-clamped version that you could 'sit around' is here https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Computer-Free-Standing-Adjustable-STAND-V001H/dp/B01FE2BCR8/

So at this point, I'm currently printing the housing for the new multi axis robot for testing, it will be a 3-4 servo setup in the end, might have a few variants. Going to be using an adafruit servo hat https://www.amazon.com/2327-Raspberry-Servo-Development-Board/dp/B00SI1SPHS/ and a raspberry pi and the tcp/ip VAM connection.

Lastly, once I get the multiple axis setup, I will then move to the code/algorithms such that there can be a seemless transition from the VAM 'movements' to the new robot(s) based on it's features. The idea is to make all this as seemless and easy as possible for anyone to do themselves.

And all thanks to TempestVR for all his contributions, without him I wouldn't have done any of this!

If you want a TKL I have the Ducky Zero with reds for gaming and I'm very happy with it. Blue switches are probably nicer but we decided we're gonna go for the quieter ones for now (my partner has a Ducky Shine 3 with browns, those are really nice as well). If you don't need a number pad I would highly recommend a TKL, it's very comfortable and saves a surprising amount of space on your desk.

I would recommend this keyboard and this wrist pad - it comes a bit over £100 but it's well worth it. Or if OCUK has some deals running grab something else, the reviews are quite good there.

>Widowmaker is actually a viable option

She is still not great on PC.

>Besides seat time is there any useful tips you guys can give a recently converted?

Unlike a controller, where you were require to turn your sensitivity way up in order to turn around in a reasonable amount of time, you want to turn your mouse sensitivity way down for precise aiming. If you need to spin around quickly at lower sensitivity, you have the ability to swing your arm across your desk to do so.

Also, buy a good mousepad which is large enough for you to do that. I use a Razer Goliathus Speed Edition. It is pretty inexpensive and works great.

Other options:

[Zowie] (https://www.amazon.com/Zowie-Large-Gaming-Mouse-G-SR/dp/B00T56XWZU)

Steel Series

All three of those mousepads get used by professional Overwatch players.

I personally use an older design of the Goliathus with the same tracking surface but a different cosmetic pattern. Some of the new Razer graphics look like the Hulk jizzed on a roofing shingle and they may clash with your gear or sense of taste. They also make a "Control" edition with more texture, but I find it rough and distracting if my wrist touches it and it slows down my mouse slightly without really increasing my accuracy.

I have never used a SteelSeries mousepad, but they are known for good products. I own a keyboard made by them and it is great.

I have never heard of Zowie before checking what gear Overwatch Pros use, but I am interested in how basic it is while presumably having good enough quality for professional gaming. I really enjoy the understated look.

For me, the feel is good. A bit mushy for about a week, but afterwards, if you can touch type, I'd say its perfect. The bumps do help a TON with tactility. As a high school senior, I've only written a couple long session papers on this but from my experience its really awesome. If i have one recommendation for this board for typing, i'd say get a wrist rest since it sits high in my opinion. I got the Grifiti fat wristrest and now I can game and type for hours. (: About 3 months into this combination and i really like it.

I've never used the square ones from PC Gaming Race so I unfortunately don't have an opinion on that. I did buy a couple of the most popular ones on Amazon after reading reviews.

This one, Le Petit Mouse Cushion by Imak is my all-time favorite. It's the perfect size and height for my wrists when my arms are at the same height as my desk. It's has just enough support, but not too much. More importantly, two sides - one is a soft cloth that does a great job clinging to most mousepads, and the other side has very smooth bumps that let it glide everywhere which is perfect for when I'm playing games and moving my mouse everywhere.

The Handstands Add-A-Pad is my second favorite and the one I use at work. Be warned though, plenty of reviews were right - too many beads at first! I have smaller wrists and using it at first caused MORE pain since it would sit my wrist so high. After removing ~40% of the beads over the course of a couple times, I found exactly the amount of support I needed. Sewed it up and it's much better!

I upgraded many months ago to a Logitech G403 (wired version): https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-910-004796-Prodigy-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B01KUAMCV4

Its got a "top of the line" (according to Logitech) sensor, up to 1000hz polling rate and customizable DPI up to some ridiculously high number. Other than the specs, the size and shape of the mouse is perfect for my large hands.

Basically the way i went about choosing a mouse was I looked at what the pros use and chose the one I liked the best. Seagull uses the Logitech G Pro. So i went with the G403. Its the same exact specs as the G Pro, just with a larger and non ambidextrous design.

Why did I decide to spend more money on an expensive mouse? Smooth tracking/aim and no pixel skipping. IMO the difference between a fancy top of the line mouse and a basic shit tier mouse is night and day.

I also recommend buying a super big mousepad to go with a new mouse. I use 1600 dpi and 2.77 in game sens. My aim is super silky smooth and precise. Here's a link to my 18 x 16 inch mousepad that i love: https://www.amazon.com/Glorious-Extended-Gaming-Mouse-Mat/dp/B00NOD04CY?th=1

As for keyboard i have an older Razer Black Widow Ultimate that I've used for many years. So i recommend a solid mechanical keyboard. However if you had to choose between upgrading your mouse or your keyboard, I think your mouse is a way more important upgrade since thats what you use to aim.

u/Shadow703793 · 5 pointsr/pathofexile

OP, the equipment (mouse + keyboard + hand rest) really matters. If you don't have a good mouse or keyboard and a hand rest you may want to really invest in these.

Also you can map your mouse buttons to the keyboard. Or you can map everything to your mouse if you decide to go that route. A good multi button mouse like the G600 (specifically meant for MMO gaming without using the KB much) can map all the keys needed for POE to the mouse. There are other mice you should look at, specifically look for a decent 5-7 button mouse. Gigabyte makes quite a good 5 button mouse you can get for like $20.

I HIGHLY recommend a good mouse pad and a wrist rest pad. I use this 3M wrist pad combined with a Steel Serise mouse pad. A good mouse pad makes a very noticeable difference in terms of how hard/easy it is to move the mouse.

Here is the monitor I recommend:

https://www.microcenter.com/product/508128/ha230-23-full-hd-75hz-vga-hdmi-freesync-led-monitor

Here is the mousepad I recommend:

https://www.amazon.com/VicTsing-Extended-31-5×15-75×0-12-Computer-Water-Resistant/dp/B0794WBPHK/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1542777401&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=gaming+mousepad

So this should all be plenty for his intentions.

AMD’s Ryzen lineup has more cores than intel and tends to be a much better “bang for the buck”

8GB of high speed ram

Instead of a GTX 1060 or 1070, I went with an RX580 to save money. It has very equivalent performance as the 1060, and even better in some areas.

I added a WiFi card to allow for wireless connectivity, which isn’t necessary if you plan to wire your connection.

A nice CherryMX Switch keyboard.

A 2TB Hard Drive for games and a 240GB SSD for Windows. (Allows for faster boot times and a smoother experience overall.)

A good looking case that has a glass side panel on one end.

And a 75hz monitor that is a steal at the moment. I actually have one of these myself and it is amazing for its price, I’m very satisfied. Only downside is it doesn’t ship with an HDMI cable, only VGA so make sure you have a spare.

And of course a large mousepad, not necessary but helps.

If your son plans on using a mic, he needs a USB splitter which is super cheap and you can get off of Amazon for ~$10.

https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-External-Headphone-Microphone-Desktops/dp/B01N905VOY/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1542777817&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=3.5mm+usb+splitter&dpPl=1&dpID=41zp99SXYrL&ref=plSrch

This build should get the job done for your son;)
I know it’s a little out of budget, but the extra money is worth it.

Edit: I also recommend purchasing another case fan for $5-10 as this only comes with 1 preinstalled.

I've had pain in my wrists, mostly from diablo-style action RPGs, but I ended up switching to much more ergonomic setups at both home and work.

I switched to an ergonomic keyboard:
https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Natural-Ergonomic-Keyboard-4000/dp/B000A6PPOK?th=1

An important note, a lot of keyboard have those little raising feet on the back. They are bad for your wrists. They are the result of putting feet on the front getting patented (which are good for your wrists) and keyboard companies deciding that those were cool selling points and putting the feet on the back to avoid the patent, regardless of how bad it was for the user... This microsoft keyboard avoids the patent by having a separate attachment that raises the front to create a neutral wrist position.

At work I use this mouse wrist rest because I have multiple monitors and need to move my hand to get across all of them. I also have a hard mousepad so that it slides effortlessly:
https://www.amazon.com/Allsop-29538-Assist-Ergonomic-ASP29538/dp/B000O77KKC/ref=sr_1_53?ie=UTF8&qid=1479519217&sr=8-53&keywords=wrist+rest

At home I use this wrist rest and high sensitivity so I barely have to move my hand to accomplish things:
https://www.amazon.com/HandStands-55510-Add-Wrist-Cushion/dp/B001CWI0XY/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1479519188&sr=8-7&keywords=wrist+rest

It's all about avoiding twisting and bending your wrist and excessive strain on it. It made a huge difference for me, but I ended up buying like 4 different mouse wrist rests at the same time since they were all around $10 to find the ones that worked best for me.

u/ItsADanThing · 2 pointsr/cad

I have very large hands and have used a few high(er) end mice over the last couple years. I would also recommend a wrist pad, either as part of the mousepad or something like this.

My favorite mouse for every day use is the SteelSeries Rival 300 (I have the original rival which appears to be the same as the 300). It is quite large and has grippy rubber on either side. You can also disable the lighting easily with the software and it won't scream "gaming mouse". I have used it at work for a the better part of 4 years now and have no complaints, the rubber under my thumb has worn quite a bit but otherwise it is just fine.

For home I have the logitech g502 which I like quite a bit but it is distinctly a gaming mouse. It is pretty big but still a lot smaller than the Rival, I have to claw grip it still. I am actually considering replacing it with another Rival.

The g502 replaced a Corsair m65 for me which I never loved, it was solid but was a bit too small and never felt quite right for me.

The m65 had replaced my old Logitech g9x which I loved but was discontinued and demands too much for a good condition one these days.

u/LeftMySoulAtHome · 11 pointsr/GirlGamers

Hi! I also have chronic pain/am disabled. I play Steam games with an Xbox One controller with the Windows 10 wireless adapter. (I tried the Steam Controller but it was bulky, not intuitive, and I basically hated it. lol. YMMV.)

I have my tower sitting in this cabinet, which I covered with this film to keep everything hidden. My husband cut out the back of the cabinet to install a fan / make room for the cables to come out of the back.

We used these cord covers to keep everything neat.

I use this wall-mounted swing arm from Amazon for my monitor. I push it toward the wall when I am done. (I put my chair/station in the corner for this to work.)

I sit in an IKEA Poang chair with ottoman, using this lower lumbar cushion and this coccyx cushion.

I use this mouse arm on the Poang chair, these cushions for my elbows, and a beanbag rest for my wrist (for when I have to use the mouse).

My keyboard sits on a shelf beside me and I pull it onto a lap desk (stored under my chair) for when I need to use it.

I also have a wall mount for my Xbox One controller.

I hope that helps! It took me a long time to get something together that keeps my living room still looking like a living room. :)

Some other options if you're looking for "deskpads" would be:

This pad, for $14, with the advantage of 50% more depth (18 inches vs the 12 in the OP), but the disadvantage of having it say "TECKNET" and cost an extra $2. It's the one I'm using right now, so I can vouch for it. Like the OP, it includes stitched edges.

Also, for $10.40 (slightly cheaper than OP), you can get this map mousepad which is also around 35% more depth than the OP at ~16 inches. Upsides also include the picture if you're into that, and being slightly cheaper. The same page also has other designs if you want a pad with a picture. Like the OP, it includes stitched edges.

However, if you just want a clean black pad, and 12" depth is fine for you, the pad in the OP looks nice. I mainly appreciate the lack of branding, although I do wish they offered a larger size. If I could get a pad that would cover my entire desk, I would. Having that + no branding + stitched edges would be sweet.

S Pro looks awesome. I have a model down from that, the QuickFire Rapid with brown switches. Amazing keyboard.

I would highly recommend getting a grifiti wrist rest for it. It fits perfectly with this keyboard form factor and makes typing a lot more comfortable.

u/capn_hector · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

For the most part I'm really happy with it. Dead accurate, very smooth, and the "self-cleaning" ball just works. You hold it differently from a mouse, and it doesn't pretend to be a mouse like other trackballs. It's very, very large in comparison to most devices (probably not good for small hands) and you need to hold your hand very far forward to work the buttons and the scroll wheel right. It's always comfortable but it takes a month or two to fully adapt until it feels "natural" and you stop thinking about it. I do recommend a wrist rest since you hold it so far forward. If you let your wrist "kink" as it meets the desk I think you will get real sore.

It's my personal bet to try and stave off carpal tunnel syndrome - I think moving my fingers/hand to roll the ball is less likely to cause problems than a thumb-control trackball (moving your thumb while your hand is clenched is not a natural movement) or a mouse. I've never had problems with CT Syndrome, but given that I work at a desk I do worry about the potential for it.

There are a few things I don't like about the LaserTRAC - the combo to toggle sensor resolution (middle+right mouse button) is easier to hit accidentally than I'd like particularly in gaming, there are only 3 buttons, and as far as I know there are no "real" add-on buttons available, just things that people have ghetto'd up with Legos and stuff. The only one I've ever seen that looked good was a modded dictation foot-pedal - but at that point you might as well just get a USB dictation foot-pedal and forget about the LaserTRAC's expansion ports. I got the jacks because they were only like $5 or $10 extra on Massdrop... but it's pretty much wasted money.

Personal opinion here but the casing's "top slope" is not quite right somehow and I think that's where some of the learning curve comes from. I use a wrist rest to get my hand farther up on the device and it works fine, but really I think they could stand to lop off the closest 3/4" or 1" of the body casing so that you are not tempted to rest your hand too low on it. Or maybe just embrace the fact that it's an enormous honking trackball and have a less aggressive downward curve to force your wrist higher up into a horizontal position.

  • Zowie - EC2, EC1, or Mico if on budget or small hands.

  • Razor Deathadder 4.0, maybe the Naga if you need many buttons

  • Logitech G400s

I used a G400 / G400s for years and years and was highly successful in competitive CS, Tribes, etc (went a full year undefeated in 1v1 Tribes duels). I am currently using a Zowie EC1 and love it.

That being said, unless you are tryhard comp / pro player, a corsair mouse is fine for the most part. Mouse pads have a far greater effect on mouse feel / performance once you have any 'gaming' mouse.

The Allsop Raindropper XL is an extremely good mousepad, and it's 10 bucks w/ amazon prime. I use my Allsop League of Legends / non-FPSs.

That being said, if you truly want to spoil your fingers, I'd recommend an Artisan pad. I have an Hien and Zero, and I absolutely love them. Their build quality, feel, texture, etc, are a step above the rest - it's like going from a Quickfire mech to a HHKB. Here is a good review guide. Artisans come in many different textures and densities / squishyness (softer the pad, the more apparent friction they have). They're a bit pricey, especially with shipping (check amazon - some are shipped from the States) from japan, but it's 100% worth it.
u/MrPhi · 2 pointsr/Overwatch

Hey, diamond Widowmaker with around 270h there! There seem to be some confusion, let me enlighten you as much as I can on the topic.

The sensitivity of your mouse is expressed in dpi (Dots per Inch).
The Windows settings do not matter, Overwatch uses the mouse raw inputs.

Overwatch has then four sensitivity settings when it comes to Widowmaker:

  • Global sensitivity
  • Horizontal sensitivity
  • Vertical sensitivity
  • Scope sensitivity

A sensitivity of 400 dpi and 16 Global sensitivity is exactly the same as a sensitivity of 800 dpi and 8 Global sensitivity. The Global sensitivity is a simple factor.

I personally changed the horizontal and vertical sensitivity to perfectly match the distance per pixel ratio. My screen is a 16/9 screen, my horizontal/vertical sensitivity are 32/18.

Scope sensitivity is a factor applied to the Global sensitivity. 100% means 1xGlobal sensitivity, 30% means 0.3xGlobal sensitivity.

All pro gamers play with extremely low sensitivity. The most popular seem to be 800dpi and 8 Global sensitivity.

When I started playing Overwatch I had not play a FPS for a long time, so I copied the settings of Kephrii, #1 Widowmaker on Overbuff.com: 400dpi, 8 sens, 35 scope sens. I got use to it and now stick with it. However it required me to buy a bigger mousepad.

The mouse you are using is not a gaming mouse, I highly encourage you to look for a gaming mouse (mouse with better sensor, cable and settable dpi).

That's what I have right now (because my cat had recently kneaded too much on my previous one, and I was at Best Buy). I've also used an Allsop XL, and some Xtrac and Razers, over the years. As long as it is woven cloth on top, thick enough to be comfortable for the part of my arm resting on the table, and is big enough to never accidentally reach the edge of, I'm good. The thick Allsop XL was definitely my favorite, though, being made of thick rubber, and I may buy another to have around, for future cat issues (I'd get 5-10 years from them each, if they weren't cat-friendly :)).

This is the one I use, and it's honestly one of the best things I've bought for my setup, absolutely love it, and $20 is super cheap as far as upgrading your battlestation goes. There's a bunch of options though, just search 'XXL mouse mat' on Amazon and check em out. IIRC there's even a PCMR one on there.

It depends on your hand. I bought two different kinds

This one

The first one gives more height than i need so i am not using it all.

The second one levels my wrist completely. Its ergonomic heaven for my case at least. If your hand is small i recommend the second one. It isn't gel type but it has like beans inside i think buckwheat which feels better for my wrist. Its a try and error process until you find the one with the best results

Most of the old-device-only stuff has to do with accessories. Throwing away two old connectors in one go was not the way to go for convincing me to "upgrade".

1: Get a flash drive if you think you could use it. I use mine a lot, second gen iXpand. With the Files integration possible now, it's very nice.

2: Logi Base is expensive but very nice.

3: Get a pen loop: https://www.amazon.com/LEUCHTTURM1917-304637-Leuchtturm-Loop-Black/dp/B002CWMAPW

4: Gamevice is very nice, whether for local games or streaming.

5: 29W charger is very nice.

I'm a big fan of using card stands/holders for tableaus so that they can be passed around easily rather than everyone having to stand up and hover over them.

Alternatively business card racks are super handy for that type of thing as well.

Also, +1 for silicone cupcake liners being awesome.

Grifiti Fat Wrist Pad

It's the perfect size for my board. Thank you, on the caps! The board is a poker3 rgb. When I was looking around for caps, I had seen a photo someone posted here, from about a year ago, of the translucent pudding keycaps on their poker3, and I thought it looked great, so I bought some myself. They especially look good with the white plate under the caps that come on the board.

Will the Master Mouse L, MM520 and MM530 receive the same treatment? Would love to see someone implement this approach with large and/or ergo mice. Also have you considered ceramic feet like Lexip Mo42 or Metal feet like Hori Edge 101 or the Bloody Gaming Mice series. They don't wear and maintain their glide mutch better over time.

Mouse sens is all around how much real-estate you have. Overall the rule for PC shooters is the lower sens you can get away with, the better off you'll be.

Ideally you want your middle poa (point of aim) to your left and right edges of your real estate to reflect a 180 in each direction.

Call of duty being a bit of a faster title you may have to over rotate some times so maybe give yourself a little more of a buffer zone. That being said though this is a basic idea ive applied to every shooter for the last 10 years and it's worked great.

My mousepad - as a PC gamer. I'm not sure as a console user what sort of space you have to work with so use your judgement when figuring all that out. Good luck OP!

$20. Metal frame, interchangeable side panels. It uses the ADNS-3090 optical sensor, which is somewhat older than current high end optical sensors, but still miles better than laser. Here's a video from Logitech talking about Optical vs. Laser sensors.

http://www.amazon.com/Allsop-Mouse-Pad-Raindrop-Blue/dp/B000XUW8IY

with this mousepad for $10, you should be able to lower your sensitivity enough to take advantage of the extra space.

>Even lower than 800 DPI? I imagine turning quickly enough becomes an issue...I'm not doubting your reputability but play styles certainly vary.

DPI isn't how sensitivity is measured, nor does high dpi equate to more accurate tracking. (long video from a Logitech engineer explaining why is here) Most sensors have a native dpi that they perform the best at. Sensitivity is calculated as a function of mouse dpi combined with in-game sensitivity, and is measured in centimeters for a 360 turn. For example, my hipfire is ~28cm while my ADS is ~44cm. You can calculate this at www.mouse-sensitivity.com.

Turning isn't an issue as you get used to it. An overwhelming majority of high skill/competitive FPS players use low mouse sensitivity. Here's some over the shoulder footage of cypher, a pro Quake player. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEwfFBaCEio

>I decided I'd rather have one with MX-Blues or Browns

Browns and Blues are very different as they are tactile(browns) and clicky(Blues) not linear like reds, they are both pretty light switches as well, are you sure you don't want something slightly stiff like clears(tactile) or blacks(linear) because if you get browns or blues you might continue to accidentally holding down keys. .

Full size and tkl are different things, this is full size, and this is tkl

I ended up buying it from Amazon. The layout is US, and the top row of keys have some kind of scratch in the same place almost like when you twist plastic from plastic when building model kits? But either way the keyboard is amazing and it was £20 cheaper than the other ones listed in the UK Layout.

I also bought this Wrist Rest made by Grifiti and its perfect!

Every time I go to a Dollar Tree, I check to see if they have a pack of these rectangular containers. Tiny, and perfect to hold just about anything, and it will fit in most board game boxes. The round ones are pretty useless, which is why I haven't just bought a case yet (you get them assorted in a case). And 10 of them for $1. You can't beat that. Food safe, so I use them for packed lunches as well (like bringing a tablespoon or two of sour cream or something).

I've also heard of someone using a business card rack like this for setting up cards in Arkham Horror. Haven't tried it myself, but I like the idea.

I've also "made" some custom boxes for Munchkin using those wooden boxes from Hobby Lobby (with that 40% off coupon, of course), a piece of balsa wood, and some coffee (for a natural stain).

u/pototobug · 1 pointr/ipad

Or Apple Pencil Cap, Pencil Tip Cover, Lightning Cable Adapter Tether https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B06XJJ2PQB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_11xdAbCSZYMZN

These are things I've tried out (those exact brands) and worked for me.

I feel like any of these might work better than a lanyard as that might get in the way when youre using the pencil. I also haven't seen anyone using one/being sold anywhere so you might have to make your own if you end up going with that still.

u/osuSero · 1 pointr/osugame

I hightly recommend the CM Quickfire Rapid to anyone knew to the mechanical keyboard world. They are built very well. They don't go for the 'Gamer' look and just offer a solid keyboard. They are available from most big retailers (most high level mechs are not). They offer a lot of the perks of premium mech boards, without the higher price as you can often find them for pretty cheap ($50 - $80). The only real downside to them, is the key caps. They are pretty cheap, but odds are if you're buying a mechanical keyboard, you plan on customizing them anyways. Which the QFR lends itself very well to. Some keyboards (like the K65) have some keys that are not standard size. This makes it a little more difficult to customize.

Need a wrist wrest? Look no further than the Griffiti Tenkeyless. It may fray a little, but support is very good and it's comfy. As opposed to other brands that offer cheap plasic ones.

u/Benzanfoxet · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

I like the Gritifi Fat. Pretty cheap, and comfortable. I'd say it's about the right height for my Pro S as well.

u/ChaksQ · 8 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

I don't like the idea of the full hand case. I figure with the Classic case I can add wrist rests if I want them. Like these

I absolutely love mine, I can't stand normal staggered keyboard layouts at all anymore. Benefit to the classic case is my ergo hook is way more portable for traveling.

I will say I don't like the layered sheets style case at all. I would prefer an injection molded case for it to be more compact. If I ever get a 3D printer the first thing I'm doing with it is a compact case for my ergo dox.

u/Weissenberg · 2 pointsr/digitalnomad

I’ve toyed with the idea of going for an S4. Currently got an A4 at the moment.
I had hopes for the new Asus monitors or virtual link being able to power an older usb-c like the AOC 16ifux(?) an APU build might work these days, I think I saw someone saying they got decent frames out of one recently. That and TB3 on an X570 board.

Personally I’m on the lookout for a portable non-portable monitor that’s readily available in the UK with a vesa mount.

The bigger the better. It isn't strictly necessary with a laser mouse, but it helps to demonstrate the optimal configuration.

Also, the 2 feet part isn't strictly necessary for MWO, since it limits pitch so much already, but it helps tremendously for other games that require more vertical movement.

after about a couple months or so of use you can see the surface layer peeling on the bottom left of the pic, so if you want something you can use a long, long time probably not for you, but they're relatively cheap so getting one every 4 months or so wouldn't dig into the wallet too bad. I just flip it to the other side when I use it, I reoriented just for the pic.

Just has the single monitor mount on bottom with the dual arm up top.

Boom arm for the mic is mounted is either mounted to the wall, a hole is drilled out of the top plastic cap on the mount's pole and sits in there, or the clamp can mount to the pole with the plastic cap removed or to the pole itself. My money is more on a drilled hole in the plastic or one of those boom arm mounts that require drilling into a desk that perfectly fits in the tube.

The Leuchtturm pen loop is a "stick-on" that you've mentioned, but they are sized to hold a pencil or skinny ballpoint. Should stretch enough to accommodate an E95s.

Then you have the Midori leather and plastic options, both offering different color choices. These are made to hold their own Midori pocket pens, which I believe are of a similar size to the elite.

Another type of loop is a springy expandable one. They are made of stainless steel and sized to fit ballpoints and pencils, as well. Though I have had initial concerns of these scratching the pen, they usually come rather smooth and harmless in my experience.

Other than these loops, there are options of elastic bound pen holders. These typically hold 1-2 pen, depending on the size of your pen and the pouch you choose. They go around either the front/back cover, or around your entire notebook (depending on your preference). They can be made of felt or leather. And similar economical versions, with a zippered pouch can also be widely found.

u/One1six · 1 pointr/buildapc

The answer to this will not be the same for everyone. Ergonomics of each mouse will feel different for each person due to differing hand sizes, grip, etc. Personally I used to favor big mice with lots of buttons for RPGs and Mobas… such as a Naga and then a Logitech G502. But then I started getting into FPS games and wound up wanting something lighter/smaller and never looked back (currently use a Logitech G-Pro). I still use this for RPGs just fine.. the two buttons on the side plus mousewheel button are more than sufficient for me as those 3 buttons alone can account for 12 binds when you consider ctrl, shift, and alt modifiers should you choose to use them... then you have scroll up/down and modifiers for those as well, to me anything more than that is overkill since you can realistically fit all binds on a keyboard anyhow.

Edit for mousepads I prefer large ones, the one I've bought twice now has been this one,

Just as a suggestion:

You could try the same on any device I think (I´m not sure the glue is made to come off):

https://www.amazon.com/LEUCHTTURM1917-304637-Leuchtturm-Loop-Black/dp/B002CWMAPW

It´s a bit tighter than the non-flexible Wacom uses but it works with one hand with the Pro Pen 2, and I need to wiggle a bit with the Intuos Small pen (which doesnt taper). The piece that attaches is tough quality plastic.

It sticks very well, so you might have to work a bit if you want it off again.

Things LEUCHTTURM1917 makes is a bit expensive, but it´s decent stuff (think Moleskine upgrade)

I'd actually recommend you get a separate wrist rest, that way you have your choice of material(such as wood or foam ones), and separate wrist rests are usually better than the ones on stock keyboards like the K70. I've had one before and the wrist rest was kinda meh.

u/tigojones · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Yeah, you can buy separate wrist wrests. A popular and inexpensive one would be the Grifiti Fat 14 (generally around $15).

Do you need dedicated media keys? As many TKLs use media keys built into other keys and are accessible through key combinations (like my QFR/Novatouch use Fn+F5-F12 for volume and media).

u/CanIsDumb · 1 pointr/GlobalOffensive

I got the lua because I didn't want to spend $50 on a mouse but if you have the money, I've heard very good things about the deathadder, I got a really big cheap mousepad off amazon for $8 or something.

I cant seem to find the black one on amazon any more but this one's good.

Glorious PC Gaming Race brand. Amazon Link I recommend them!

u/h-e-a-t-h-e-r · 6 pointsr/notebooks

Maybe a Vaultz lock box? They sell them at Walmart, if you live near one, so you could check them out in person. I'm pretty happy with the brand, personally.

u/jayrocs · 1 pointr/CruciblePlaybook

Just food for thought here. Why don't you stick to controller until you get a bigger mouse pad? Mouse pads are not that expensive anyway.

This is the same size Shroud uses for instance: https://www.amazon.com/Glorious-Gaming-Mouse-Mat-Pad/dp/B00NOD04CY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1543602777&sr=8-3&keywords=glorious+xl+mouse+pad

Your sensitivity is so incredibly high I couldn't imagine controlling that thing. My sensitivity I use which is quite popular (same as Gigz and Kraftyy) is 800 DPI @ 5 sens but I use a .7 ADS modifier.
My eDPI for look sensitivity is 4000 while yours is 36000. 9 times faster than my sens and I don't even consider my sens slow. I know people who use 800 DPI 3-4 sens.

Btw picking up your mouse is just something you have to do anyway, in all games. Watch this vid of a former CSGO pro explaining arm vs wrist aiming and having to pick up your mouse. Notice his large mouse pad but still requiring having to pick up your mouse over and over again. It is a skill in itself knowing when to reset your hand as you turn so that you don't fall off/hit your keyboard whatever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLvBQx1g1qA

Here you go! Amazon.com link. I don't own it myself, but I've only read good things about it so far. I'm planning to get one soon.

Great review! I've been seriously considering an FC660M with clears from Qtan's shop, especially since I sold my MX Brown board a few weeks ago. I just feel guilty spending all my money on keyboards recently, haha...

The QCK limited editions are very slick, and much faster than the regular QCK.

If you want a mousepad that is similar to the regular QCK, but is stitched, take a look at the Glorious Pads. https://www.amazon.com/Glorious-Heavy-Gaming-Mouse-Mat/dp/B00NOD04CY?th=1

Congrats on your internship!

For those that game on their PC, these two simple items will make a world of difference:

High DPI gaming mouse http://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00AAQRNQ8/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_qjmYtb1MTCV3X

And a mat to get the best out of your mouse http://www.amazon.ca/dp/B002J9G5AE/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_ohmYtb182T30D

You'd be surprised how much difference they make.

I'd suggest one of these:

You could always get just a keyboard and also one of these.

Massdrop have the CM Storm Quick Fire Stealth for pretty cheap right now, it's a great board and together with the wrist rest it should cost you about $100 depending on shipping.

This pad is fantastic, it's huge, thick (5mm thick!), movement feels very smooth, and the logo is minimal and out of the way.

It also comes in black, blue, green, and white border colors. Tough to beat for $20.

u/t1m1d · 4 pointsr/GlobalOffensive

I have one of these and I love it. Plenty big enough for most players and it's very solid. It might be very similar to the XXL though, I'm not sure as I've never tried a Steelseries mousepad.

u/MrMork87 · 2 pointsr/headphones

Is that a Grifiti Fat wrist pad? Is it worth the $15 on amazon? How do you like it?

u/ewiggle · 1 pointr/MousepadReview

Where'd you hear that? I think the only real concern with them is how they impact your LOD and that they might be a little too fast.

We love Eldritch Horror, but for the first few months we had it, our table space was very limited. As such we grabbed two of these to reduce the footprint of all of the decks - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002YTO3JE/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apip_kMLCI6PtTWjJT.

With two of them you can hold all of the location, expedition, other world, mythos, clue, mystery, all conditions, and artifact decks. And they take up maybe a foot of space? Best investment ever.

If you're seeking a cheap wrist rest, I suggest a Grifiti wrist rest. If you're in no hurry you could try buying a larger one + mouse rest in Massdrop's current group buy, or wait for the mini wrist rest to come around again.

I have a used blue mini wrist rest I'm willing to sell but it's got dust marks from my wrists from use. Still in good condition besides dust. PM me if you want it.

See a doctor, make sure your hands are below your shoulders not above. Sit with good posture, don't slouch. Stretch your wrists, fingers and hands between games. Unless you are a pro gamer I also recommend a wrist pad, it's kept me from ever getting a gaming injury. I use this one!

u/ironeye57 · 5 pointsr/GlobalOffensive

I've never used a hard mouse pad so these are just my findings:

The 9HD is 12.6" x 10.6" x 0.08"
Razer Destructror 2 13.98" x 10.04" x 0.09"
Logitech G440 13.39" x 11.02" x 0.12"
CORSAIR MM400 13.9" x 10.9" x 0.1"
GP3 HEATON 16.54 x 13.78 x 0.08 in But its ~88$
Fnatic Gear Boost Control Pro 15.75" x 12.01" x 0.07"
Theres also Aluminum mouse pads if you're into that
example: RAZER Manticor Aluminum 13.98" x 10.04" x 0.09"

For comparison one of the most used soft pads, BenQ ZOWIE G-SR Large, is 18.9" x 15.7" x 0.14"

It seems like they stopped making a lot of the actually large hard pads since most people use soft.

Something I've learned after playing this for two years:

  1. Find out the "flow" of the base. By flow, figure out where most players will be and position your self accordingly that will put you in a good place (be mindful of cover if you're infantry)

  2. Try to limit 1v1's vs a heavy if you can. You will more than likely lose.

  3. As with 2, try to always break the line of sight with the enemy. If they can't see you, they can't shoot you.

  4. A good mouse + mouse pad will make a world of difference. I use a Logitech G500 and this Steel series mouse pad.

  5. ALWAYS be mindful of the mini map in the bottom left. If you're playing with a competent team, they should always be putting down darts, radar, etc. will generally let you know where the enemy is located.

  6. Get your self a good pair of head phones. Sound plays a critical role in this game as well.

  7. This website is great for fine tuning your mouse.

  8. Try not to hold down the mouse button when trying to kill people (there are exceptions to the rule of course. Extreme CQC, SMG's and shot guns are what come to mind). Accuracy + head shots is what will get you quick kills.

  9. Try to get a "feel" for the recoil of weapons. That way, you'll get a handle of the COF and the recoil pattern.

    Good luck out there.
u/PrionBacon · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I used to have a SteelSeries QcK and never figured out why cloth mousepads are a thing again. It felt marginally better than the cloth mousepads I had in the 90s.

I switched to a SteelSeries 4HD: http://www.amazon.com/SteelSeries-Professional-Gaming-Mouse-Black/dp/B002J9G5AE/

It's hard plastic but it's much more slick than the cloth pad. I like it much more than the cloth one. I use a Logitech g602 mouse.

Moleskine has a reasonable sized notebook that you can use. So does Field notes. Do kee in mind that there will be some ghosting.

For attaching your pen to the book: here it’s a pen loop you can attach to any book. There are off brand ones you can use as well.

A slight alternative might be a traveler’s notebook. It’s a small book of leather where there is a loop of elastic instead of a book, so you can replace the notebook to your heart’s content while still having the same shell that is easy to find and grab in a bag.

Mini pen: expensive but there’s the kaweco Liliput. I can’t think of any other small pens off the top of my head.
