I'm sad because I've started to realize I haven't done art for months and months and want to get back into it... And that is really difficult. Reading usually makes me happy but I think finishing a satisfactory (to me) drawing or painting would make me the happiest.

Anything on my art supplies/books wish list would cheer me up and probably aren't necessary since I have tons of other things I could use. It would give me something new to work on or try out and that may be a good way to work on art more offen. I'm especially interested in these though: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0009I8LEU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_jtlAwbW0SCMVA

Thanks for the contest!

Orange Butter Cake with Chocolate Sour Cream Frosting tastes so decadent you'll never realize it's the healthy version!

(Two-serving recipe)

Orange Butter Cake Recipe:

1/2 c. sifted cake flour (I actually use AP)

slightly rounded 1/2 t. baking powder

scant 1/8 t. salt

1 T. unsalted butter, room temperature

1 T. plain 2% Greek yogurt

1/6 c. raw sugar

1 large egg yolk

1/6 c. milk (non-fat)

1/4 t. pure vanilla extract

1/8 t. orange extract, to taste.

Spray a small oven-safe glass dish with pan spray or 'butter' the dish, flour the dish, and pour in the batter.

Bake as directed (at 350˚F) but probably for less time.

Let cool. Then frost and serve.

Chocolate Sour Cream Frosting:

1 oz. extra dark (but not bitter) chocolate, coarsely chopped

splash of whole milk

1/8 t. pure vanilla extract

Sprinkle each of cayenne, instant espresso powder, cinnamon, salt, to taste -- these only add complexity to the chocolate, you can't really taste them. Also, the more flavor you add, the less sugar you need.

Melt in the microwave, 30 s. at a time, stirring each time.

Stir in 2 T. plain 2% Greek yogurt

World's Best Scones so tasty you won't realize they're healthy!

    http://allrecipes com/recipe/worlds-best-scones-from-scotland-to-the-savoy-to-the-us/
(Doubled the linked recipe, and made some substitutions)

  • 3-1/2 c. all-purpose flour

  • 2 T. and 2 t. baking powder

  • 1/3 c. raw sugar

  • 1/4 t. salt

  • 1/4 c. and 1 T. unsalted butter

  • 3/4 c. and 1 T. plain 2% Greek yogurt

  • 1 c. dried currants or raisins, or frozen huckleberries

  • 1 c. skim milk

(I don't 'wash' mine, so no egg or extra milk.)

Here's some things I like that I've ordered for myself that would be good in a gift box.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FDR47E/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_6 (I love these gel pens)

And I'd add a bunch of notecards, empty folders, maybe some advil, and a cute badge holder.

Welcome to RAoA! It's so much fun here btw :)

  1. TV Show: Dead Like Me

This show is simply put: far underrated. It was witty, clever, funny, sad, and frankly near perfect.

  2. Bathtub crayons for adult like finances and to-do lists in the shower....

PS: Did you watch new Doctor Who episode on Sunday?! OMG!!!!
u/bookishgeek · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I want to try something new. I'm a compulsive eater, and I really want to do more stuff with my hands to keep them busy. I think coloring could be a really fun way to do that! So I'd like this coloring book, please. :) {I think these crayons might knock it up to the $10 limit? If that's too much that's OK too!)

u/ame-foto · 1 pointr/Gifts

There are these really cool pencils called watercolor pencils. You can sketch with them dry and then add water with a brush later to blend or you can dip the pencil itself in water at it draws really smooth. They're super fun and easier to use than just plain watercolors. That's always been something I give to dabblers, that a watercolor sketch book.

Not a parent, but I'm an elementary school teacher with experience in a special needs preschool.

Have you tried triangle crayons? They're supposed to help with grip and it may be less rewarding for her to snap these in half.

u/Tendaena · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

[I need glitter crayons] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009A54FVG/ref=aw_wl_ov_dp__1?colid=2IZUGVBDEOF6U&coliid=I34L1F3FF0V8XT) because I have a child who likes glitter and coloring. This is the perfect way to combine the two. Thanks for the contest and welcome to RAOA.

u/Seret · 1 pointr/AskReddit

Great suggestion!

I have a question for you. What is preferable: More paint sets with less color variety or less paint sets with more color variety? Because I can probably buy a lot more packs of paint sets if they come in less than 24 colors. Here is an example, what do you think?

Also, among the three supplies you listed, is there one that is needed more than another or does it not matter?

The link you posted is the most cost-effective pack of construction paper I could find on Amazon, so that's good.

These are cheaper packs of large crayons, so I can get a bunch of those if everyone thinks this is the best idea.

u/breatheasy14 · 3 pointsr/daddit

They are called "Color My Bath" and we got them off amazon.com We also got some Crayola bath crayons and bath paint off amazon.com as well. All really fun things to do in the tub and it all washes away easily. The crayons can be completely submerged and they will still work great.

These are our favorites!

They wipe off really easily, and my kiddo loves them.

Also my husband and I love them too. >_> We spend half her bath time drawing pictures now.

u/handsome_cock · 5 pointsr/Wetshaving

Forgot to talk about my idea for the stolen shredded cheese. Note that this one is also not poisoning.

I don't know what kind of cheese you like, but depending upon cheddar, mozarella, or a mix of white and yellow cheese (Mexican), we can do this.

Caran d'ache (Wax pastels) are literally the best for face painting, dry quick, stay on really well and wash off easy

u/sintercore · 6 pointsr/gundeals

Hey Gundeals. It's been a long time. I thought I'd stop by because most P320 owners don't know this product exists and I have some in stock. If they sell fast, I'll consider making more. If they sell slow, I'll just sell out and drop this product. Either way, they're 33% off today.

Sintercore is run by the same guy behind Noisefighters. That's right...you have been warned. And for all my fellow Marines out there....here's something to chew on.

This product eliminates the lever from the P320 takedown pin and permits a much more comfortable, ergonomic grip of the handgun for right-handed shooters who use a thumbs-forward support hand technique and find the original lever annoying. It's not for lefties. It's not for those who don't mind the lever.

This flush-mounted design will not transfer heat to the shooter’s thumb unlike the factory-provided takedown lever. If you ever had an issue with snagging, I suppose this design also solves that issue. I never considered that issue until Sig used basically this same design of takedown pin on their new P365 SAS!

The pin has a slot on the left side for a coin / empty casing / screwdriver to be inserted so that it can be twisted and the firearm disassembled.

Made of genuine 17-4PH stainless steel with a black finish. One Buna-N o-ring is included and installed.

Getting a car was really empowering for me (I was in a bad car accident years ago and didn't drive for 4 years because of it, so getting back behind the wheel drastically changed my life for the better). You don't realize how reliant you are on everyone else (friends, family, public transportation) until you have the freedom to go where you want, when you want!

Personally I would really love these shimmertastic crayons for some fun art projects with my little guy~ VROOM vroom!

Hope this helps

u/ofsinope · 3 pointsr/math

This is what I did in college. I used bathtub crayons to write on it. They also work great on mirrors and windows (and bathtubs). http://www.amazon.com/Play-Visions-Crayola-Bathtub-Crayons/dp/B0043BYOO0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1457577859&sr=8-1

those meddling kids

For me because a charged iPad makes me happy.

For the kids because it's glitter. And not messy!

These Caran d'ache crayons are water-soluble pastels. They are brilliant for when you're just starting watercolor. Just practice with them a bit.

u/kiki_havoc · 2 pointsr/ArtBuddy

Watercolour crayon!
I also have watercolour pencils but find the lines they give are much too delicate and don't give as much pigment to play with.

u/powerbug80 · 1 pointr/DnD

Grease pencils also works well for this. If you decide on grease pencils use the ones you twist from the top versus pulling the paper from the bottom

You want this and not this

u/jebus_cripes · 3 pointsr/adventuretime

I have some of these. You can get them at any store like Meijer, Target, Kmart, etc. I took these to a fancy hotel and left the housekeeping drawings on the shower wall.

Edit: Crayons!

u/ASnugglyBear · 5 pointsr/history

I'm guessing that's a red grease pencil like these [I couldn't find a picture of one not on a store]

u/Sarraaww · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Boom! Roasted.

Leroy Jethro Gibbs from NCIS is my pick. I could go on and on why I love him but my biggest reason is because he reminds me so much of my grandfather. Very tough exterior but once he allows you inside you see a completely different person.

"Rule #51, "Sometimes — You're wrong,"

My son is very big into drawing at the moment and these bath crayons would absolutely make his summer.

u/kjbenner · 2 pointsr/Tools

I've used laquer sticks ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004N84BFA) to fill in the markings. It does wear off after a while especially with solvents and grease. I just keep my metric and SAE in separate racks so I don't have to worry about getting them mixed up.
