- CONSISTENT QUALITY: At Seeking Health, every ingredient is carefully sourced, researched, and tested. Each meets strict specifications for manufacturing standards before any ingredient is allowed for use. We use only the highest-quality ingredients.

alright here goes my exhaustive list of stuff that goes into my preworkout! i love to research the stuff that works, and then experiment to see how effectively they work for me, especially on keto.

currently experimenting with:
phew! making this list made me realize how much time and effort i put into the trial and error of my preworkout. of course, i supplement a lot of this stuff with my other meals as well. as you can see, i'm very big on supplements, biohacking, and nootropics. i read up a lot on research in my spare time.
I've made some slight modifications to this, mostly to make it easier to follow. I've also included steps that should be quite obvious to someone who's done any homebrewing before, but I wish someone had told me when I first started.
I'd link to the original, for the sake of attribution, but the user who posted this deleted their account not long after I wrote everything down.
This will produce a sweet fruit-mead (or melomel). WARNING this will be far more alcoholic than it tastes, and should not be consumed if you've recently taken antibiotics, or suffered gastric distress, as the yeast culture will still be alive, and will happily colonize your intestines if your gut microbiome is too fucked up.
Equipment: Most of this stuff will be a good deal cheaper at your local homebrew store, but I've included amazon links (also to the yeast).
At least 2 (3 is better, for reasons we'll get to) 1-gallon jugs (I don't recommend scaling this up), glass preferred. Add an extra jug for each additional batch. This one includes a drilled stopper and airlock
Drilled stoppers (or carboy bungs) and airlocks, non-drilled rubber stoppers.
An autosiphon and food-safe tubing.
Food-safe sanitizing solution (I recommend StarSan).
An electric kettle with temperature selector is useful, but not needed.
If you want to bottle it rather than just keeping a jug in your fridge:
Empty beer or wine bottles (just save your empties), capping or corking equipment, caps or corks, and a bottling wand.
Ingredients:
2.5 lbs (1130g) honey, clover recommended.
A cup (approximately 250ml) or so of fruit (I recommend blackberries, and I strongly recommend against cherries, other recipes have worked for me, but this yields a very medical flavor with cherries).
1 packet Lalvin EC-1118 yeast (a champagne yeast notable for its hardiness, its ability to out-compete other microorganisms, and its high alcohol tolerance).
Optional: potassium sorbate (to reduce yeast activity when our ferment is done), pectic enzyme (aka pectinase - for aesthetic purposes). Both are also available in bulk.
Process:
Day 1:
Mix sanitizing solution with clean water at specified proportions in one of your jugs, filling the jug most of the way. Stopper it, shake it. Remove stopper, set it down wet-side-up (to keep it sterile), pour the fluid to another jug. There will be foam left behind, this is fine, don't bother to rinse it or anything. At low concentrations this stuff is totally fine to drink, and won't ruin your fermentation or flavor.
Add honey to jug, all of it.
If you have a kettle, and your jug is glass, heat water to around 160F (71 Celsius), pour a volume into your jug roughly equal to the amount of honey present. Fix sterile stopper to jug. Shake until honey and water are thoroughly combined. The heat will make it FAR easier to dissolve the honey. Set aside for an hour or so while it cools. Add clean water 'til mostly full, leaving some room for fruit and headspace.
If you're missing a kettle, or using a plastic jug, this is gonna be a little harder. Fill most of the way with clean water (I recommend using a filter) leaving some room for fruit and headspace. Fix sterile stopper, shake 'til honey and water are thoroughly combined. This will take a while, and you will need to shake VERY vigorously.
At this point, you should have a jug mostly-full of combined honey and water. To this, add fruit (inspecting thoroughly for mold, don't want to add that). Then dump in a single packet of the Lalvin EC-1118 yeast, don't bother rehydrating it first or anything, it'll be fine going straight in. Add pectic enzyme if you have it (this does nothing to the flavor, it just makes the end product less cloudy). Stopper it up, shake it again. This jug now contains your "must" (pre-ferment mead).
Pour some sterilizing fluid in a bowl, put a carboy bung/drilled stopper in the bowl, with an airlock. Ensure full immersion. Let sit for a minute. Replace stopper with your bung/drilled stopper, affix airlock. Fill airlock with clean water, sanitizing fluid, or vodka. Rinse the stopper, fix it to your jug of sanitizing fluid.
Place must-jug in a dark place, I recommend a cabinet or closet.
Days 2-7:
Retrieve jug, give it a little jostle. Nothing so vigorous as to get your mead into the airlock, but enough to upset it. This is to release CO2 buildup, and to keep any part of the fruit from drying out. The foaming from the CO2 release may be very vigorous. Do this over a towel for your first batch. If the foam gets into your airlock, clean your airlock and reaffix it. Perform this jostling procedure at least once per day, more is better.
Day 8:
Final jostling, I recommend doing this in the morning.
Day 9:
let it sit, we want the sediment to settle.
Day 10: Time to get it off the sediment
Shake sterilizing fluid jug. Affix tubing to siphon. Put the siphon in the sterilizing fluid, shake the jug a little just to get the whole siphon wet. Siphon fluid into either a third container or a large bowl. This is all to sterilize both the inside and outside of your siphoning system.
Remove siphon from jug. Give it a couple pumps to empty it of any remaining fluid. Place siphon in your mead jug, leaving the end of the tubing in sterilizing fluid while you do this.
Take the jug that you just siphoned the sterilizing fluid from. Dump what fluid remains in it. Place the end of the tubing in this jug, then siphon the mead into it. Make no attempt to get the last bit of mead into your fresh container, it's mostly dead yeast and decomposing fruit.
Add potassium sorbate if you have it, stopper the jug, place it in your fridge.
Clean the jug you started in. Clean your siphon and tubing.
Day 11:
Let it sit
Day 12 or later: time to transfer again, or bottle it.
If you no longer have a jug full of sterilizing fluid, make one.
Repeat the earlier steps to sterilize the siphoning system, with a bottling wand attached to the end of the tubing if you want to bottle.
Sterilize your bottles or a clean jug, either with fluid or heat.
Siphon mead either into your bottles or jug. Stopper/cap/cork when done.
Put your jug/bottles in the fridge.
The yeast culture is still alive, and will continue to ferment. The fridge, and optional potassium sorbate, will merely slow this down. I recommend drinking any bottles within two months, to avoid a risk of bursting bottles. The mead should already be tasty at this point, but usually tastes much better after a couple more weeks.
EDIT: Fixed the formatting up a bit.
Cabbage is actually a trigger for me, everything from the cabbage family including broccoli and cauliflower have bothered me.
Your case is the worst I've personally heard of, so maybe my triggers might work for you. Are you taking meds? IANAD, by my doc had me taking prilosec 2x a day when I first started and that helped, until it didn't anymore. Now I take protonix 2x/day before food, and 300mg zantac at night.
Maybe try ensure? I recommend butter pecan original, it's the tastiest flavor and the original didn't bother me like the plus did. Another thing to try is DGL, I mentioned it in someone elses' post but not here. This is the one I use and it's SUPER helpful, chew two half an hour before food and it helps coat your stomach so that food isn't so painful. Also try chamomile tea, it's supposed to help stomach mucus. Also, take super papaya with food once you can manage, it helps with digestion. But that DGL makes a HUGE difference.
Also try extra-watery rice, make it 3c water to 1c rice, it'll make it softer and easier to digest. Rice was the one food i could eat when I couldn't eat any other foods.
Good luck!
Hi, I had my gallbladder removed earlier this year.
First, try eating a good quality yogurt that has probiotics. (I eat a chobani every day.) Sometimes the antibiotics they put you on at the hospital can kill all the good bacteria in the digestive tract and yogurt with probiotics can help restore that. You would be amazed how that can solve digestive issues. If that doesn't help, I have some digestive enzymes I take with particularly fatty meals to help process the fats. I like the NOW Super Enzymes. They have definitely helped out.
But try the easy, cheap, healthy way first and start eating yogurt for a couple of weeks and see if that helps out.
I have never heard of weight gain being a side effect of gallbladder removal. If it hasn't happened in the two years since your surgery, then I wouldn't worry about it. I've lost weight and it's only been 5 months since my gallbladder removal.
Not knowing what you're eating, I don't know what to tell you other than be honest about the quality of foods you're eating. Try not to eat over-processed foods, eat fresh produce and fresh meats.
Happy to share my AIP tips! I have always been health and nutrition conscious and had been following a (whole grain heavy) vegan diet for approx 7 years when I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. I also developed Vitiligo, another autoimmune condition during that time. My weight had dropped from about 110-115 (I’m 5’4”) to 95 pounds and my quality of life had deteriorated to the point where I honestly fantasized about suicide on a daily basis. My hormone levels were almost non-existent and the resulting depression and extreme fatigue only added to the misery.
I began to read and research extensively and decided to give AIP a try. I did feel better initially but after months of following the protocol became somewhat discouraged as many of my symptoms remained. I continued to read and learn and made some tweaks that I think really helped speed up the healing process for me.
The first one is L-Gluatamine supplementation. You can eat all of the healthy food in the world but if your digestive system is unable to absorb it due to a compromised gut you’re not going to benefit from all of the wonderful vitamins and micronutrients that your body needs to heal. The way I understand it AIP eliminates the toxic foods that are inflaming your gut but it can still take a long time to get back the essential mucosal lining that was destroyed by an inflammatory diet (especially grains and gluten). I used a supplement called G.I Revive, here’s the link:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00290AXJW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
In addition to L-Glutamine this supplement contains other gut healing ingredients but it is pretty spendy, so if it’s not in the budget powdered L-Glutamine (about 5 grams mixed with water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach) will still help speed up the healing process.
The second thing that I did to help heal my digestive system and increase my micronutrient absorption was to start supplementing with HCl. Low stomach acid is incredibly prevalent but not often discussed and can be brought on by stress, a poor diet, medications (especially antacids), age, and other factors. Without adequate levels of stomach acid the food that enters your stomach isn’t properly broken down and the micronutrients aren’t properly absorbed. Here is a little info on low stomach acid if you’re interested:
https://branchbasics.com/ways-to-increase-stomach-acid-production/
And tips on how to properly supplement HCl:
https://healthygut.com/articles/how-to-supplement-with-betaine-hcl-for-low-stomach-acid/
And finally, this is the HCl supplement that I used:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H40XPH4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The third tweak that I made was incorporating offal (or organ meats) into my diet after I felt that my gut had healed enough to absorb them properly. What you eliminate is important but when your starting point is not a place of health that you simply want to maintain, but a place of disease and malnourishment, what you add into your diet is equally important as what you eliminate and organ meats are the most nutrient dense, healing foods on the planet.
First I tried to cook liver but honestly could not choke it down, the smell alone gives me a gag reflex, so I take desiccated (dried) organ meat capsules instead. I take Beef liver, heart, lung, kidney, pancreas, collagen, gallbladder, trachea, and spleen by Ancestral supplements. They do make a beef organ blend for people who don’t want to buy or take a shit ton of capsules like I do. I take 3 capsules of each organ with every meal which is equivalent to a bite, so that’s like eating one of each organ per week. When I incorporated the organ meats into my diet my vitiligo patches started to re-pigment. I am about 50% re-pigmented at this point but every week I see little but noticeable improvements.

The last change that I made was to incorporate intermittent fasting into my daily routine. Initially I was intentionally eating over my TDEE in order to gain some of the weight I’d lost when I was sick, I just consumed all of my food within a six hour window in order to give my digestive system time to rest and heal. These days I’m back to 115 pounds, symptom free, depression free, and full of energy so I IF maybe 4 days a week and eat close to my TDEE to maintain my current weight. I have incorporated some Paleo foods back into my diet so I’m no longer on AIP (it’s a healing mechanism, not a diet you need to maintain forever) but did so slowly and carefully after I felt that I’d given my digestive system enough time to heal.
If I eat nuts I buy them raw and soak them before I eat them. This eliminates the compounds that irritate and inflame the gut. Sounds like a lot of work but it really isn’t, you just plop them in a bowl, leave them overnight, and bake them in the oven on low or in a food dehydrator with the seasonings of your choice. I make big batches so I only have to do that once in a while.
https://blog.paleohacks.com/activated-nuts/#
I love eggs so those are back in my diet as well (pastured and organic only). When the gut is compromised the body reacts to almost everything, which is why AIP is so limited, but once the body has had a chance to heal and recuperate it’s totally possible to eat some of those foods again with no reaction at all.
Anyways hope this was helpful in some way, I know it can seem like an impossible and daunting task but take it slow and don’t overwhelm yourself thinking that all of these changes need to be made at once, do what you can and build on that at your own pace, healing is possible!
If marijuana happens to be legal where you are, that definitely helps. Not trying to be a troll I honestly had the easiest time bulking when I lived in Cali and had my medical card.
Other than that. I found powerlifting and strongman type routines made me much much hungrier than body building. I know some people are just trying to look good naked but you'll probably gain more dense muscle mass going this route then you can switch to body building when you're ready to cut.
Chocolate milk and protein powder.
Break up your meals into every 2-3 hours. Even if you can only eat a protein shake and a banana, eat something every 2-3 hours.
Something that worked for me was week by week id add another meal in. So 3 meals the first week. Then the second week id throw in an additional hamburger patty and 1/2 cup of rice. So on and so forth.
Hardboiled eggs are your friend.
Edit: I'm also lactose intolerant but I found lactose free chocolate milk at HEB. (Texas grocery chain)
No cardio unless you need to perform. To help with overall heart health try 20-30 mins LISS 2-3 times per week. Just remember the more you do cardio the more you gotta eat to compensate.
Digestion enzymes have been doing wonders for me. I have a pretty wimpy stomach myself. As in when I overeat my toilet looks like a murder crime scene. Not anymore after I started taking these.

I do notice a difference with Alpha Brain, but it's too expensive. I've used several kinds of "brain pills" and nootropics and individual brain supplements but honestly I've only noticed a difference with Alpha Brain.
Also, New Mood and ShroomTech Sport seem to work. However, for New Mood replacement, just get any calming or "mood support" blend with theanine and 5-htp.

For ShroomTech sport, I've found a bottle of Now Foods cordyceps is much cheaper and works better.

DigesTech can be replaced with Now Foods digestive enzymes for much cheaper, as well.

A lot of the stuff on Onnit works, but nothing is a magic cure for anything. The most any of these will do is give you a slight edge in each area. But, I think that slight edge is worth it. However, on Onnit, it's just 3x as expensive as it needs to be. Do a bit of research and you can find a lot of the same stuff for cheaper.
Sounds to me like you're having some mild symptoms and blowing it out of proportion in your head. The mind can screw with you in weird ways. I think you should get some digestive enzymes and try taking one before every meal, it really helps break down the food and help your body process it better. I get these because I've always had issues eating large meals as well. It may be that you have some mild food allergies, but that can't stop you from eating, your body needs those nutrients! Maybe you could also try cutting out certain things to see if it helps, wheat, sugar, etc. Good luck!
You can take 1 a day, but you could also start with 3 a day. The first week I took probiotics I was extra gassy and bloated, but after that it was all good, may not happen to everyone, but just be aware. I think consistently taking them every day is the key, at least at first, to get them established. if I had to do it again I'd start with 1 a day for the first week, 3 a day for week 2, and then 1 a day for the rest of the bottle.
If you really want to get your stool in shape add fiber and a digestive enzyme. Probiotics helped, but fiber and digestive enzymes were the cure. For me it really didn't take much fiber, I buy fiber capsules and take 1 with every meal, which is on the low end of fiber supplements, but works wonders. I also take the digestive enzyme with my 2 big meals of the day, my breakfast is Quest bar, so I don't take the enzyme with that meal.
Here is the digestive enzyme I use, tried a few, this works as well as any I've found, and cheapest. Just take it before your meal.

Long term, well I just don't know. Probiotics are not cheap, so after taking it daily for the first 2 bottles I have been trying different things. I've tried every other day, every other week, and didn't notice any difference, when I tried skipping it for a month I did notice a difference, but that may have been a result of some other things going on. In theory once you have it established it should be self sustaining. Unless you got the money to do DNA biome testing all you can do is listen to your body.
Good luck on your journey, if you are like me you don't realize how draining stomach problems are. Once I got my gut working I found I was more willing to just do things. When your stomach is all grumbly you don't want to do anything, and when that stops you suddenly find yourself more engaged in the world. At least I did, YMMV.
I like the idea of using moldy bread, I might try that in a single gallon batch of mead.
Getting started will cost a bit of money.
So to make it lactose free, you need to buy a normal gallon of whole milk that is pasteurized. NOT ULTRA-PASTEURIZED. It will say on the carton if its ultra pasteurized or just plain pasteurized. I've never seen any lactose free milk that is not ultra pasteurized. If you use ultra pasteurized milk, the cheese will not form correctly. So now you have a gallon of pasteurized milk and your lactase drops. I put twice what they say on the bottle into the milk (it says 5 drops per liter (about 4 liters per gallon), so I use 40 drops for a gallon of milk). I don't use it until two days after I put the drops in (instead of the 12-24 hours they say on the package). I also shake up the milk every time I'm at the fridge just to make sure it distributes evenly. Two days after treating the milk you can follow the normal recipe.
I also take 4-5 of these pills when eating the cheese even though it probably is not necessary. I'd rather swallow a dollars worth of pills than risk ruining my day.
Only problem is that the cheese doesn't seem to melt very well.
yes antibiotics can really mess up your system than what issues you had before taking them. And can i ask what made you need to take antibiotics for? and it will mess up your gut heath you need to rebuild the good gut bacteria you can start with pre and probiotics and other good gut heath foods and when you eat gluten foods what happens to you? also either when you wake up or just in the day is your tongue covered in white stuff? also if you can try to stay away from foods and things that have high fructose corn syrup and carrageenan in them here is a few things to help get you started

How much beano did you add? And you were in the last like 10% of your target fermentation, I bet it would've had a more pronounced effect if you had added it around 1.080.
I think if you had used something like WLP1056/Wyeast 001 or 090 you would have gotten a lot farther - those yeasts are more likely to progress farther on fewer fermentables. Do you ever get packets of amylase at your LHBS like this but parted out? You only need like an oz to make a big difference. I did an all pumpkin mash with amylase + sorghum extract that turned out really well with some holiday spices. Is it still in secondary right now? You might split the batch into a control and test batch. Then try dropping like a whole oz in 2 gal, and letting that sit for the rest of the aging process. If you end up with a different FG at the end of the aging process we will know the amylase is doing some work and not anything else.

Sure! I’m on my phone so these will just be straight links.
Source Naturals - I keep these in my purse for anytime I eat something off. Whether on purpose or by accident (I basically follow the AIP diet so I am way more restricted and, not including gluten obviously, and a few other things, I can have them here and there if I take enzymes).

Desperate like so many others on here, I got creative and decided to try something different. Hence, I bought some digestive enzymes on Amazon (link below) and they worked really well to combat the bloating!! The directions say to take 1 capsule before a meal. However, in my case, one capsule wasn't helpful so I read on the comments that many users recommend taking two instead. I actually take three! NOTHING has worked better and while it's not perfect, it's been the best solution thus far! Good luck!

Make your own!
The recipe I use is:
Directions: mix well, chill, garnish with nutmeg immediately before serving
The bourbon is optional, but helps with the shelf life and food safety concerns of raw eggs. This article has a good discussion (and is where I stole the recipe from, before I changed it slightly): https://www.thekitchn.com/how-to-make-homemade-eggnog-cooking-lessons-from-the-kitchn-214298
If you have issues with eggs, take 1/2 tsp to 1 tsp of baking soda dissolved in a large cup of water at the same time as eating the eggs, and it'll help (baking soda absorbs hydrogen sulfide, the smelly gas I make when I eat eggs).

I use these

I THINK they have less calcium than tums, but they do contain calcium nonetheless. I don't know if that would be a good alternative, maybe ask your doctor. I have experienced heartburn since I was a preteen I think but during pregnancy it was very often and it was so bad that my jaw and teeth would hurt. Milk and papaya enzymes were just about the only relief. I'd get heartburn after drinking water! I hope you find a way to get relief, it's definitely crappie to deal with.
Have you tried adding a digestive enzyme? Heres a good one (for a cat i would mix 1/4 capsule with food).
Doctor's Best Best Digestive Enzymes, Vegetable Capsules, 90-Count by Doctor's Best http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000Q487DC/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_gSxotb0DXK9PW
If the veggies still upset the stomach, try fresh cut wheat/oat grass ("cat grass") or even a powdered product such as "Green Mush". Its very important animals get some of the vitamins and minerals offered in vegetables. If veggies are not possible, you should add a multi-vitamin/mineral supplement
You would need so much ginger that it would impart a very significant flavor to your beverage. You can go ahead and forget about subtle flavors in that case. Your best bet is to buy amylase on Amazon or at your LHBS.
Here's one option for amylase. This would last you through a huge number of batches. You only need a small amount for your entire batch, so you'll go through it very slowly.
If you really want to use natural amylase, get some malted barley and add it to the mash that you're going to have to make. You can pick this up at your LHBS too. They'll even help you mill it since you probably don't have the equipment to do it at home. Just ask for help and they'll give you what you need.
I'm 36 weeks right now and have had horrible heartburn since around 20 weeks... I was chowing down on LOTS of tums until my midwives told me to try papaya enzyme extract and it works AMAZINGLY. Check with your midwife or doctor to make sure they're ok with you taking it.. the bottle I have is this brand and on the label it says take 3 after eating, but my midwives said to take at least 6 when I need them. I found them at a local Whole Foods-type grocery store. It really does help and is also really tasty as well (they're chewable). Hope that helps!!
I've had good luck with NOW Foods Super Enzymes. I also like their papain.
These are just what benefited me, obviously YMMV. :)
I would like to recommend something that worked for me, Enzymes. I use a product you can get on amazon http://www.amazon.com/NOW-Foods-Super-Enzymes-Capsules/dp/B0013OXKHC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1425396051&sr=8-1&keywords=super+enzyme.
It helps digest food and allows your stomach to "rest" a little. Also be sure that you are chewing your food enough. Don't let your stomach do the work, allow the teeth and saliva(contains natural enzymes) do the work. I hope this helps a little and you can get through sooner rather than later.
Most lactose intolerant people were not initially lactose intolerant. What we were taught in medical school was that nearly all babies are able to process lactose, but they lose the ability as they grow older, because they should be weaned off breast milk.
I suspect I am lactose intolerant. My symptoms, however, are mild - only gas, but not diarrhea. I would highly recommend buying some lactase enzyme and trying it out when you eat. If your symptoms resolve, you might be lactose intolerant!
You can definitely buy enzymes for very cheap. You do not need to buy brand names like lactaid. They can be very expensive from a pharmacy - last I checked, they were about 30-50 cents per pill from my nearby pharmacies.
I buy Costco brand (Kirkland Signature) from amazon, which costs about 12 cents per pill. Lactaid from amazon ends up costing 20 cents per pill, but the total cost is less because they're selling you fewer tablets. So in this case it may be the better option if you aren't yet sure that you are lactose intolerant.
I am not sure why you suspect you are lactose intolerant, but if you do not want to try the enzyme route, you could also go to the store and buy lactaid milk. Around here, a quart of brand name (Lactaid) milk is around $5.50, but they have America's Choice brand for $2.99 a quart. You can buy that, drink some, and see how you feel compared to when you drink regular milk.
Note - there's limited amount of enzyme in a pill, so if you do experiment with the pill, don't go overboard! (Don't eat a whole carton of ice cream and expect 1 pill to be able to help you handle it all). Follow the directions - you may have to eat more than one pill depending on the portion of dairy you eat.
Buy regular milk and use these drops to make it lactose free. In the long run it ends up being cheaper because regular milk is so cheap lately. RIP milk farmers. Still is sweeter but to me tastes more like milk than some of the other lactose free options.
You will have to experiment but I use 1.25-1.5 droppers full in a gallon.
Lactase Drops 15 ml | Lactase Enzyme Supplement | 76 Servings | Safe for Infants | Non-GMO | Kosher Certified | Physician Formulated | Seeking Health https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003VSTRY8?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
Just want to reiterate the lactase pill suggestion — they're my lifeline. I'm 24 and have been lactarded (just saw that here, and I love it) for like 8 years, or at least have been conscious of it, and I can relate a lot to your concerns: being a poor college student, drinking half a gallon on milk a day + tons of cheese, ice cream, etc. Dairy is fucking delicious.
The doctors that suggested lactose intolerance actually thought I may have overwhelmed my body's lactase-producing mechanisms, and it just gave up. I had to cut back on my dairy intake, but I get some of these which come in little tear-open individual packets. I keep a couple of them in a credit card slot in my wallet, as they're not very big, and one of those will ensure I'm fine eating/drinking as much dairy as I want in about a 15-25 minute window. Otherwise, I may get some baaaad gas, severe stomach pain, or defecate in large quantities and/or frequencies in a manner which typically makes me want to take a shower and a nap afterwards.
tl;dr: keep store brand lactase pills in your wallet — cheaper than name brand and very useful. Also, activia yogurt and lactose-free milk are harmless, and a slice of cheese here or there won't kill you or those around you.
It's the same as normal recipies but you need to treat the milk with enzyme drops first. I buy the milk (make sure it's pasteurized, NOT ULTRAPASTEURIZED (this is why you can't just buy lactose free milk to make cheese with)), put in like twice the drops as the bottle recommends (I do 40 drops per gallon) and leave it in your fridge for 2 days. Shake the milk up a couple times a day if you can.
Then follow your normal cheese recipe. It can't make any hard cheeses though because those require lactose to eat. I still take a handful of pills when I eat the cheese though just to be cautious.
I started off taking Super Papaya Plus Enzymes but wasn't a huge fan of the ingredient list so I started looking elsewhere. I ended up finding MRM Digest-All on sale 2 for $30 at my local Sprouts and I've been taking this for about 3 months now and I love it. Gallbladder isn't hurting anymore, got a normal color in my movements again, and I'm going multiple times a day. I have way more energy because I'm not backed up anymore. I would suggest the MRM. There may be better, but this one has done wonders for my digestive system.
I've tried this enzyme supplement and this expensive probiotic with some success. Looks like this and this are the most popular on Amazon though, from NOW Foods (a good brand), and cheaper.
Lactaid in larger volumes at the "original" strength (example: https://www.amazon.com/Lactaid-Original-Strength-Caplets-Count/dp/B000052XB5/) is sold as a single container with all of the pills inside in a jumble, just like a standard vitamin or other supplement. Unless something about the Original strength is more stable than the other types, this tells me that it should be fine to do exactly what you mention.
Note: This is just a logical conclusion on my part. I don't know what might break down the lactase enzyme as it is held in the pills, so it's possible that the individual wrapping is more than just annoying.
I did my homework! You have been really helpful- thank you!
I am in the process of getting CT scan results sent by gastroenterologist of my abdomen and pelvis..

There's a good chance that since your body isn't used to the amount of fat you're eating, the fat is not getting broken down properly and squirting out your b-hole. I would suggest taking some enzymes until you adapt. Betaine HCL, ox bile, and lipase are the best supplements for this period, which you can get as part of an overall "digestive enzymes" supplement, like this one.
haha Yes, I've been contemplating whether to throw out the non-Suntheanine bottle that I've currently got, or maybe just take it for myself :)
In case it helps your decision process at all, this is what the behaviorist's office recommended I switch Moose to.
Try fiber and enzymes.
Veggies and/or psyillum husk or equivalent. For the enzymes, this seems like a decent one from a respected company,
http://www.amazon.com/NOW-Foods-Super-Enzymes-Capsules/dp/B0013OXKHC/ref=sr_1_6?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1313810358&sr=1-6
The fiber will help you're gi tract move things easily and cleanly, depositing when you should. The enzymes can help with further digestion of certain kinds of foods.

Check out this enzymes and this bile factors , my GB was removed like 3 years ago and I gain a lot of weight, I was used to get really sleepy after a steak, salmon, or any huge meal.(I mean it, it was dangerous to drive after eat any of those things). And then a friend that works for a functional medicine doctor recommended me to try digestive enzymes and bile factors, man they really work, i know for sure because when i dont take them the sleepiness comes back after a meal.
I’m a bit confused by your initial post, but if I’m reading this correctly, this is an extract beer. My remaining comments will assume this is correct.
The biggest issue with malt extract is that you don’t know the mash temperature. Therefore, you don’t know the fermentability of the wort. This impacts the attenuation.
Given where you are, you may want to consider using some alpha amylase enzyme. It’s used in Bruit IPAs to dry them out. You may need to add a small amount of sugar and more yeast to get it working though.
As far as flavor goes, anything goes. Dry hops, oak spirals, bourbon, fruit, etc.
In reference to u/wedgienoise4000’s comment about adding Brettanomyces, yes it can both dry out the beer and potentially add flavor. In most cases, Brett will not make the beer very sour. In low levels, you’re get a tropical character that pairs great with hops. In higher levels, you get an earthy, complex funk, but you should not get a tart sourness.
Hope this helps. Kanpai.
You should not have to deprive yourself of cheese if you are lactose intolerant. Lactose is a sugar. Read the label of the cheese and if it is 0 sugar, it is lactose free. The general rule is that aged cheeses are more than likely to be 0 sugar than things like American cheese. And velveeta has more lactose in it than the equivalent amount of milk. Also, butter is fine too. I use it all the time. If you like to cook and want to continue to use things like milk, cream and sour cream, I suggest getting these [drops](
http://www.amazon.com/Supplement-Certified-Formulated-Seeking-Health/dp/B003VSTRY8/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1465042860&sr=8-1&keywords=lactose+drops). You add them to the product and in 24 hours it is lactose free. It does make it a little hard to be spontaneous in the kitchen, but it is better than working with alternatives. I do use soy, almond, etc products but not when it comes to serious cooking or baking. They just fall short when compared to the real thing.
This is the one I use and its super nice. Water bloat I take HCTZ but for GI bloat these digestive enzymes w/ probiotics help the most, I have found cinnamon in my food to help too, though to a lesser extent.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RH5K26I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Buckets are really better as primary fermentation containers if you're using fruit, since it's easier to stir things up and mix the layer on top back in. This should still be fine, just try capping it and rolling it around a bit to mix that floating layer back in.
Also, when using real fruit, a bit of amylase enzyme can help break down the starches.
As a fellow (I assume) lactose intolerant, did you know you can make your own lactose free milk without breaking the bank? Just buy regular milk and some of these bad boys drop them into the milk, shake and leave it in the fridge for a few hours. Now you've got your own LACTOSE FREE MILK BABY - and if you've got a sweet tooth it's great too because by breaking down the lactose for ya, your tongue gets a chance at some of those sweet broken down sugars which everyone else just gets in their stomach. One bottle of that shit will DELACTIFY about "52 pints" (oh America, when will you stop using your silly made up measurements) of milk! Way cheaper than some of the ridiculous prices I've seen on lactose free milk in stores.
Keep them B O N E S strong!
If your mother has an autoimmune disease, it is possible that you have one as well. Not necessarily the same one, but studies are finding that it may be possible that families may be prone to autoimmune diseases. This could also have something to do with with the inflammation marker. A few autoimmune disorders that come to mind are hyperthyroidism, graves disease, pernicious anemia etc, that could be related to your symptoms
Have you been tested for the Epstein Barr Virus or Mono in general? In some rare cases you can have lingering symptoms and malaise for over a year.
Given your odd liver function, I would think most doctors would also be interested to know what a liver function test would show.
I'd also stay away from any over the counter cleanses such as the one your girlfriend suggested. There are a few well regarded parasite cleanses available on the internet that can do much more harm than good.
As far as other supplements go, have you ever tried adding a probiotic to your diet? If not, it may be helpful. Although you usually have to take them for about a month to see a difference. Aditionally, i've tried the women's version of this product for my own digestive issues similar to what you mentioned with not digesting food fully and found that they have seemingly done away with that issue completely.
Definitely take all of my advice with a grain of salt though. I study infectious disease, immunology, and public health. I am not a doctor.
Digestive enzymes have really made a difference for my bloating and nausea. I used to get so bloated and nauseous after meals until I started taking these with every meal. This has caused the biggest improvement in 5 years for my IBS-C. The kind I linked to I believe has Betaine HCl in it which can cause heartburn in people that don't need extra stomach acid (like I do), but there are plenty of other enzymes available without! If this is something you haven't tried yet and you have nausea, bloating, and/or heartburn, definitely look into this.
Another supplement I used to use is Triphala. If you take it every day it can really help get your bowels moving if you suffer from constipation!! It worked miracles for me for about 3 months, but unfortunately my body seemed to get used to it and it stopped working. But damn those were a great 3 months, I felt fantastic.

I'm lactose intolerant as well (though ice cream affects me less badly than straight milk). I just buy these off amazon. Not a bad price for being able to ingest sweet, delicious dairy products again. Just pop one right before you eat anything milk related.
They don't cure celiac disease, but can still help those with celiac. My GI doctor had me take these when I was experiencing GI symptoms even after being gluten free: https://www.amazon.com/Source-Naturals-Bio-Aligned-Supplement-Constipation/dp/B0009EXOTQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?keywords=digestive+enzymes&qid=1568174608&s=gateway&sprefix=digest&sr=8-5
I use a probiotic supplement from ID Life (but you can get it from most health stores and I'm sure from amazon as well ☺️) and then these from Amazon.
> xylose isomerase
The reviews from Amazon are really positive so I'll look into it, thanks for the tip.

It doesn’t. Been asked many times to many functional MDs that see thousands of patients. It’s like how 5-HTP doesn’t create dependence, rather it up-regulates the raw material available, not something the body sees as a need to counter adjust to.
And I don’t find it too expensive
amazon.com/dp/B00H40XPH4
For 360 caps at $20 that’s like 180 meals if taking 2, and at 3 meals a day that’s 60 days at all meals :-)
The brand I use is: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0014291SA
They also sell them in little rolls like Tums. They are good for when your stomach is feeling "ugh" if you eat too much and I think they help just get things back on track after getting glutened.
Lmao bruh you can get a pack at Rite Aid or really any pharmacy ever for like $4-5 max. You just pop one right before you're about to eat dairy. No prescription needed
Edit: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000052XB5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_IihLAb94NA43M since there's a lot of interest. Game changer
I've had a lot of luck with Doctor's Best Digestive Enzymes
https://www.amazon.com/Doctors-Best-Digestive-Enzymes-Vegetarian/dp/B000Q487DC
Swanson 16 Strain is a good value.
Prebiotics are good to take also, I use inulin powder in my morning smoothie then take Zenwise Enzymes before dinner.
You could also try enzymes! I personally use Dairy Digest Complete that I get on monthly subscription from Amazon and I am beyond happy to be back in the world of cheesiness. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0013OUODA/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_O1-cub054G70E
They're not a cure-all for lactose intolerance but for most things one pill with a meal can make life a whole lot better.
Thankfully I've gotten better at managing it and haven't had any flare ups since 2017. Yeah it's hard to find out what is going on inside the body. For me, I've cut out all alcohol, grains, and fat. I just try to eat low fat protein like chicken and vegetables. It's not always exciting, but it's a hell of a lot better than getting sick after every meal.
Oh! I just thought of something. If you're up for something, please try these digestive enzymes they have completely changed my life. Even my mother in law has benefited from them. She was about to get her gallbladder removed and my wife recommended that she try these enzymes and they helped her with her stomach issues and she hasn't had any issues since then. It's basically just extra digestive enzymes that your pancreas normally makes when you eat. I dunno why, but it's really helped me.
I wish you a lot of luck in finding out what is the actual cause of all your pain. Try looking for a gastroenterologist if you haven't seen a specialist yet. They might be more helpful than a general doctor
What you could do is mix some rice up with Amylase and then any old wine yeast should do it. Just taste it to make sure its sweet and you should be in business. Just make sure that the rice isnt to warm when doing so or you will denature the enzyme.
My significant other and I both had our gallbladders out and she had issues even eating fatty foods until we started taking this enzyme tablet. Now we have no more GI issues and can safely enjoy all keto foods!

Thanks for the tip! I just ordered some Eat Anything enzyme supplements.
They contain both alpha-galactosidase and xylose isomerase (which is supposed to convert fructose to glucose). Here's hoping they work!
Yeah, I didn't know pills existed for a while either. At my local publix, I found Lactase pills next to the upset stomach/diarrhea medicine. It should be in the medicine area, around stuff like pepto bismol and immodium.
In my CVS it's in a similar area, next to stomach medicine stuff. Or uh..amazon even? Huh, that's a surprise, last time I checked a few months ago, I couldn't find any on amazon. Cool.
Yes dairy digest is available a lot of places, I get mine at the local co-op, it's their brand, but its like this one on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Supplements-Dairy-Digest-Complete-Capsules/dp/B0013OUODA/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=dairy+digest&qid=1568591884&s=gateway&sr=8-3
Try the Suntheanine formula instead of the regular L-Theanine, its pretty much the same but for me, Suntheanine just works better: http://www.amazon.com/Enzymatic-Therapy-L-Theanine-Vegetarian-Capsules/dp/B0013OUH8W/ref=sr_1_5?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1372055877&sr=1-5&keywords=suntheanine

This stuff works good: http://www.amazon.com/Supplement-Certified-Formulated-Seeking-Health/dp/B003VSTRY8
I just add a dropper full to each gallon of milk i buy and I'm good to go.
late to the party, but getting these really help. i usually put 40 drops in a gallon of milk. you can adjust how much you really need also (ex. using 30 drops if your lactose intolerance isn't as severe).
http://www.amazon.com/Supplement-Certified-Formulated-Seeking-Health/dp/B003VSTRY8
Huh? I'm logged into my amazon account and it was just a search link. I assure you i'm not making any money off advertising a probiotic that isn't even sold by amazon, collagen, and digestive enzymes....
Search a product and test it out for yourself.
I'm going to preface this with a warning that I've never done this and it might be terrible advice.
Aren't Budweiser etc. made with large quantities of rice? Maybe you could mash primarily rice with the help of an enzyme like this :
http://www.amazon.com/Amylase-enzyme-1-lb/dp/B006O93SYQ
Then you'd need a relatively small amount of barley or some local alternative for color and flavor. It looks like that enzyme might be good for you to use no matter what non-barley stuff you're trying. What do people use to make bread there?
/u/h22lude is most likely correct - at that temperature you denatured the enzymes.
Good news, I did this too not too long ago, and experimented with a fix (for beer, and for science!). Go to your LHBS (or Amazon) and purchase a small bottle of amylase enyzme and add it to your fermenter in the recommend quantity.
Details from my experience here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Homebrewing/comments/cf0j79/final_update_high_final_gravity_stalled_ferment/
Sounds like you're eating something that doesn't agree with you. What are you eating more of these days? What kind of protein (im assuming youre taking protein powder) are you using? Anyways, I'd recommend you try this and/or this.
I don't know if he'd like to try them or if they'd work for him, but after YEARS of telling my boyfriend something was up with his tummy troubles, we found he was lactose intolerant, too. So we picked up some lactose tablets from Walmart and then from Kirkland/Costco and I've got to say, they seem to help. :)
I’ve tried several brands and originally sought out the digestive enzymes for extreme kratulence. Anyways, the ones I’ve personally had the best experience with quelling the thunder from down under are https://www.amazon.com/Garden-Life-Vegetarian-Digestive-Supplement/dp/B004H2QWDQ
Buy these, put about 16 or so drops in a gallon and let the milk sit overnight. Voila! No more lactose. My wife is lactose intolerant and these have saved us so much money from not having to buy lactose free milk.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VSTRY8
I use Whey Protein Isolate (any brand should work, check the ingredients) which doesn't have lactase and has never caused me issues as a lactose intolerant gal.
Also, if you are lactose intolerant and haven't tried using lactase pills, you really should. I had to stop eating cheese/ice cream/milk products when I became lactose intolerant, but then I discovered these pills and now I just pop one and get to enjoy these foods again.
Nope, probiotics and digestive enzymes are different. I do also take probiotics (I get whatever's inexpensive and looks like it's got the most creatures per billions or whatever the measurement is), but for digestive enzymes I take these. You can get them at places like Whole Foods, but they're waaaay cheaper online.
Fucking lowlives. Sorry your mom got scammed. These are just general supplements that won't really do anything compared to a healthy diet. I wouldn't recommend buying them all. Maybe a multivitamin and fish oil, or a b-vitamin if she doesn't eat meat. Otherwise, they're likely a waste of money.
Here are some supplements I've taken that look like basically the same thing, though I don't see Amway's nutritional facts (with the list of ingredients) so I just have to go by the marketing nonsense on their site to guess at what all is in each.
Also, /r/supplements is great for questions like this.
Bile!!! You need bile!!!
NOW Super Enzymes,180 Capsules https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0013OXKHC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_9DIhiu3jHEpbX
I take 1-4 before a meal/heavy snack
And have had no issues for about 2 years.. no more half way through a milkshake and feel like i am gonna die!
My guts dont go "GET IT OUT!! EVACUATE" for the next 1-2 hours!
I can enjoy all the foods i used to and not have a issue..
If i dont take before and take after it reduces the issues to a mild uncomforted feeling.
Sorry - not been on Reddit for a few days. So I'm pretty sure it says on the bottle, but I found out by going through the Q & A section of the product description page on Amazon, where I purchased this item. Here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VSTRY8/.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00RH5K26I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_0BLxzbNK69NTE
Those are the ones I took, but I didn't take them very regularly. I'm no longer sure how effective they were.
check out this on Amazon: lactase drops. says you can add a few drops to a gallon of milk and it'll be 'lactose-free' in 24 hours. I've not tried it personally, but the reviews look good. I imagine it's the same as edible lactase, maybe more.. concentrated?
They do, and they're AWESOME. I'm a pastry chef. Do you know what 90% of pastries contain? :( Dairy. I'm not talking like muffins and bread, once they're baked the lactose doesn't bother me at all - I'm talking eclairs exploding with creme de patisserie or delicate custard tartlets, god forbid I get an order for some tres leches... quality control used to make me want to die.
Lactaid pills are the best invention ever for someone like me, who literally CANNOT avoid dairy. Take one or two (depending on your severity of intolerance/dairy % content) a few minutes before you eat and it saves you from a night of painful gas and a lot of toilet paper.
EDIT : forgot link
Well, that’s what squirting is. It’s proven to come from the bladder and has the same biochemical concentrations of urine. I get that it doesn’t feel like your peeing. Whatever the case it’s normal for many women and has been recorded throughout history.
Chewable papaya enzyme
Yep!
I get these drops
If you leave a review, they will give you a 25% discount for future purchases, and this works every time you leave a review.
I like to get 3 gallons at once and do 35, 20, 15 drops. This saves drops because you drink the third gallon last, so you're giving the enzyme more time to work on the lactose.
You need to wait 24 hours before starting to drink from the first gallon.
Maybe try these? You can just open it up into your food and it'll usually work. Made my own lactose free milk that way once.
Lactose pills dude.. They work like magic, take 1/2 before any meal with lactose, and your fine.
Maybe try papaya enzymes. They help me sometimes when I'm feeling very full. https://www.amazon.com/American-Health-Original-Chewable-Tablets/dp/B0014291SA
Thank you! I’ve been taking SIBOtic https://www.amazon.com/Priority-One-Vitamins-SIBOticTM-Caps/dp/B07C8M9NNZ, Colon RX https://catalog.designsforhealth.com/colonrx, Regen RX Bile Ducts https://www.amazon.com/Bile-Ducts-RegenRx-Apex-Energetics/dp/B00FK9V4IS, and Futureplex Antitox https://www.drcousensonlinestore.com/Apex-Energetics-Futureplex-Heavy-Antitox-1-oz-p/hevanti.htm. Before this I was and continue taking Zenwise Digestive Enzymes before every meal https://www.amazon.com/Zenwise-Health-Digestive-Prebiotics-Probiotics/dp/B00RH5K26I. The Colon RX helped a LOT and I take 2 twice a day. Let me know if you have any other questions!
The enzyme in your spit that breaks down sugars is amylase. Sweet potatoes, and most grains contain their own versions. You can also buy it if you don't want to be spitting and chewing corn.
I take 2 of these before my whey and it helps:
http://www.amazon.com/Foods-Dairy-Digest-Complete-Vcaps/dp/B0013OUODA/
I also use natural whey protein that has no artificial sweeteners that cause me issues:
http://www.amazon.com/Optimum-Nutrition-Standard-Natural-Vanilla/dp/B000GIURM2
Will do! I wasn't sure it would indicate on directions per gallon. This a good option?
Shouldn't be, it's just amylase or alpha-amylase.
Quite a few sources on Amazon as well eg http://www.amazon.com/Amylase-enzyme-1-5-oz/dp/B006O2D7DA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1395076770&sr=8-2&keywords=amylase
Do you have an allergy or are you just lactose intolerant? If it is lactose intolerance you can get lactase in pill form like here. Just take one or two before a meal and you can drink as much milk as you want.
Lactaid can be expensive though (~$8 a gallon where I'm from) so it could be cheaper to order lactase on Amazon if the thought of $8 milk is absurd to you. But, once you go Lactaid, you'll never go back. It tastes so good, even my family members who are lactose tolerant prefer it.
I like https://www.amazon.com/NOW-Foods-Super-Enzymes-Capsules/dp/B0013OXKHC/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1482159335&sr=8-1&keywords=now+digestive+enzymes
Think Swoletide takes the same brand. They are cheap and work!
It might depend on how old the milk is (maybe the enzyme gets used up?). I personally use these drops in place of lactaid milk... they might work well in this situation!
These help:

Supplemental digestive enzymes might help. Look for something like this that contains lipase and ox bile.
I second the use of Candida Support it is not strong enough to kill yeart but it weakens it so your body can control it. You should also use consentrated probiotic pills Probiotis each pill has 10 different bacteria from 3 different family's of bacteria. Acidophilus alone wont cut it. Finally Stop eating Kefir and Kombucha, at least for the time being. Both are SCOBY's , Symbiotic cultures of Bacteria and Yeast. Your pumping you system with more yeast. Finaly help your system expel the weakend yeast enzymes yeast make sticky biofilms to protect the colonies. These Enzymes will help break them down so the candida support and probiotics can do there jobs.
When I travel, I go with three items.
First, I travel with Digestive Enzymes. For me, these help with digestion quite a bit. I still try to avoid FODMAPs that trigger me, but if I accidentally consume some, these make it so I'm not in agony afterwards. Seriously, buy some now. They help a shocking amount.
Second, I bring peppermint tea and peppermint oil capsules. These really help minimize the length of flares.
Next, as a last resort, I bring anti-diarrheals. It sucks to be backed up, but it's better than the alternative sometimes. But if I use the enzymes, I rarely have to use these.
L-Theanine is supposed to be good for anxiety too. I'm not very anxious, so I didn't notice reduction in that.
I recommend buying the liquid enzyme and mixing it with your milk. This is cheaper than buying pills or buying lactose-free milk.
I don't know if these are a sure fix or if they fit your cost/benefit criteria for having dairy but have you used lactase pills http://www.amazon.com/180-Caplets-Fast-Acting-Lactase/dp/B000HI0CKS
Amylase is likely the enzyme used to break the starches down to maltose.
Typically one would need a bit of heat and the proper pH range for amylase to do its thing.
Something like this Amylase enzyme - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006O2D7DA may do the trick.
Yep, it's on Amazon, or a decently-stocked LHBS.
Dude. Lactase pills. My several lactose-intolerant immediate family members just pop one with any lactose-heavy meal, and voila. Why make your body do the work when you can use science instead?
edit: Shoulda guessed, somebody else already suggested this. Oh well, I'll leave it up on the off chance that you a) didn't know about lactase pills and b) didn't see the other comment that was posted first.
I'm lactose intolerant too. Try lactaid it really works and makes keto so much easier/more enjoyable. I eat a lot of dairy these days and have no digestive issues whatsoever.

Drop between 20 and 30 drops into a gallon of mill and then let it react for 24 to 48 hours before drinking. Its a dollar or two cheaper than Lactaid milk per gallon over time.

Recommended by u/swoletide, my ex had all kinds of intestinal trouble and they definitely helped
Hi. It's called Holistic Cellenzym. It's a Sweden based company and I dunno if they ship outside Sweden.
I found this on Amazon and it seems to have the same content as the one I am using.
I'm extremely lactose intolerant as well. I find if I grind up 3 of these pills and drop them into a normal gallon of milk and let it sit for 24 hours I can drink the whole gallon without getting sick.

Take one of these per protein drink, and say a "Hail Brodin"
Wheymen.
I used to have this problem and I gave up on kratom for a while because of it. Then, unrelatedly, I started taking really good digestive enzymes, not the cheap ones, and when I started taking kratom again, I didn't have any problems with it. May not solve your problem, but worth a shot, especially if you find other things upset your stomach.
Compared to apples, most berries have very low pectin levels. Pectin is a chemical present in most (all?) plants, and contributes haze to beer, mead, and wine. Apples have some of the highest amount of pectin, where soft berries tend to have the lowest.
You may find that the apple meads take a very long time to clear, if they do at all. However, pectic haze is easily remedied by adding an enzyme to dissolve it (pectinase).
Digestive enzymes have helped me a ton! Here is what I take:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00RH5K26I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_qX6kDbXY2ANW1
I also have this problem, but only had mild breakouts. Taking dairy digest + switching to organic milk fixed it for me.
Before that I just added whey protein powder to rice/almond/soy milk.

have you tried taking lactase?
I am lactose intolerant. You can get tablets that contain the lactase enzyme that breaks down lactose. Personally I use these https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000HI0CKS/
I was thinking of this probiotic and this enzyme but if you're doing the Now! Probiotics I would try adding the enzymes rather than switching probiotics.
Maybe try taking some digestive enzymes when you eat beans or just any meal in general

They appear to be half off too.
It's a common problem.
Try take some lactase with it.
I take papaya enzymes (or have a papaya smoothie when it’s REAL bad). Tums just make me throw up but these papaya chewables have been lifesavers

I've heard people say that using these Lactase tabs to continue consuming whole milk is something that works.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HI0CKS?ie=UTF8&tag=stronglcom-20&link_code=as3&camp=211189&creative=373489&creativeASIN=B000HI0CKS
But I've never used them myself, maybe someone else can confirm.
Here is the mobile version of your link
Here's an example in case you're having trouble finding them. They're like 10 cents each with Prime.
As previously mentioned, you have to do something to convert the starch into sugars. Koji produces amylase enzymes (which are also present in malt), that break starches down into sugars. If you're looking for something easier than making a mash or using koji, you can buy amylase enzymes. Basically mix your cooked rice with water and a bit of enzyme, and hold at 150F until the starches are broken down. Could be a few hours.
Sounds like you're fucked. That's how it started with me when I was a kid.
They have lactase enzyme pills you can take when you eat dairy that will help a lot (lactose intolerance is what happens when your body stops producing this enzyme), but you'll probably still be gassy.
I suggest some papaya chewables for the next time you eat something that doesn't agree with you. It will settle your stomach and guts very quickly.
the same thing happened to me over and over again. Another redditor mentioned Now Super Enzymes. I didn't really think it would work but it did! absolutely stopped the incapacitating runs and let me stay on keto. https://www.amazon.com/NOW-Super-Enzymes-180-Tablets/dp/B0013OXKJA
My husband is lactose intolerant and buying Lactaid is at least 2x more expensive than regular milk.
To cut down on costs, we add lactase to normal dairy products such as milk, cream, and evaporated milk. We also make lots of food from scratch, such as bread and ice cream.
No, I bought them on Amazon
This sounds like you have a gallbladder/bile problem. You're not excreting the enough of the enzymes to break down food (especially fats).

Get Beatine HCL (for stomach acid)
Get Ox Bile Salts (for the gallbladder and bile)
Drink Apple Cider Vinegar and Lemon juice ( a splash of each in your water) with your meals.
Then, if you can, go on a Low Carbohydrate / Ketogenic diet to stop feeding the gas producing bacteria sugars that they use to create the gas in the first place.

This is the probiotic I'm taking.
Before I started it I didn't have any noticeable digestion issues. But I don't think it was noticeable because this issues going on in my gut manifested into other issues like psoriasis/eczema, allergy symptoms, feeling crappy in general, and of course the hormonal issues. I've been eating low carb/no gluten or grains for a few months and I haven't had any skin issues or allergy symptoms. After taking the probiotic I realized that I wasn't quite as "regular" as I should have been and now it's much more frequent.
I had my gallbladder removed about a year ago. I have been keto for a few weeks; but, I have had no side effects. From what I've read, you can try either taking ox bile supplements or enzymes. Here's a link to an enzyme that I've been taking, but I haven't noticed much of a difference.
https://smile.amazon.com/NOW-Super-Enzymes-180-Capsules/dp/B0013OXKHC/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1500727544&sr=8-1&keywords=super%2Benzymes%2Bnow%2Bfoods&th=1
The liquid lactase is dramatically more expensive than the pills. A "dose" of liquid, as far as I've seen, has 750 "lactase units," (whatever they are) while the pills have 9,000 each. The bottle has 75 of these doses, and if you buy the costco pills, you get 180 for about the same price. So the liquid costs more than 20 times as much.
Drops: http://www.amazon.com/Lactase-Drops-15-Supplement-Servings/dp/B003VSTRY8/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1383064644&sr=8-5&keywords=lactase
Pills: http://www.amazon.com/Kirkland-Signature-Fast-Acting-Lactase/dp/B000VS4BF6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1383064644&sr=8-1&keywords=lactase
I'd try just crushing up a pill and putting it in the milk. The taste of the binders shouldn't be noticeable in a half gallon or more.
if she's lactose intolerant, try the lactase drops. I'm really lactose intolerant but man do these things work. I haven't tried it on cream cheese yet and heat will kill the reaction so you have to do it a few days in advance, but I've even put it on pizza and been better off. I put it in milk and can drink it within a couple of days, i would assume the same for cream cheese as long as you mix it up and whatnot.
My lactose intolerant life was changed once I started taking these. In addition to the lactose digestion enzyme, they have protein enzymes as well. I pop one of those before my dairy sin and I am good to go.
Nothing is worse than the combination of caffeine and dairy for me. A nice coffee is killer, or a few slices of pizza with some Coke and I am in trouble if I forget to take my lactose pills.
You are going to need something stronger than Beano. It just doesn't have enough of the active ingredient to work properly. I was taking 3 Beano pills and it still barely helped. So I was researching it online and found out what the active ingredient was and then found another brand that had a higher dose per pill. I ended up trying this brand and it did work. I don't remember off the top of my head but I think you're supposed to take one pill before each meal that has the food that upsets your stomach. It's expensive though, but it works. My stomach is extra sensitive to all vegetables/fruits/legumes so I feel your pain.
You might try carrying some dairy digest enzymes with you, too. Lactase and maybe some other digestive enzymes. Papaya enzymes are very cheap and they work for me sometimes when I get similar symptoms. Sometimes dairy can be a bad trigger for me, usually with enzymes it's not. Eating dairy is usually no big deal, sometimes dairy plus cold air will trigger an attack. The enzymes seem to blunt the reaction a lot. I also had allergy testing (which put me into anaphlaxis, not good!) but dairy didn't show up as being something I'm allergic to. It's still a trigger for me though.

I don't claim to know how it works. If I had to guess I'd say it's very similar to the way [this] (http://www.amazon.com/180-Caplets-Fast-Acting-Lactase/dp/B000HI0CKS) works, but I have no idea. What I do know is that they prevent any pain and diarrhea from eating wheat. What do you have to base your claim on that it doesn't work?

So, not a cuisine recommendation, but as a fellow FODMAP sufferer, I have found that digestive enzyme pills and papaya extract / enzymes help me somewhat. I use these a lot. I'll take 3 or 4 before a meal that contains problem ingredients. Still isn't enough for like lots of raw garlic, but seems to avoid the worst of the problems for something that just has a bit of cooked onion or the like. Could be worth a try, since avoiding O&G entirely is SO difficult, as you know.
