I have alot of goals for next year.. but I don't think I can put college tuition on Amazon. :P I know alot of people go to the gym to lose weight... but I'm trying to gain weight. I'm aiming to be what I call "Goku fit" by Halloween.

I exercise for an hour daily and have done a good job of keeping myself motivated. Everything I do is bodyweight fitness: pull ups, push ups, dips, etc. Some days, I wear a backpack I fill with books, usually giving me a 40 lb increase. I really think adding these gloves will help give me an edge over my current routine...


But I know I always see loads of improvement when I'm using this pre-workout supplement for that extra bit of stamina/power. It's like a scoop of turning Super Saiyan. :P

It’s an excellent workout and if you’re really interested I highly recommend getting an actual pole and not a Spencer’s cheapie. I bought one for $300+ off a site many years ago, but found a good one on Amazon that I can safely put my entire weight on and can be taken down when company comes over. Also recommend getting gloves that help with grip while you’re first starting out.

If you’ve never done it before it’s really fun but don’t get discouraged and keep at it! It takes a while to build up very specific muscles and get the moves down. There are a lot of good videos on YouTube or some on Amazon as well.

I use two gloves:
One for general work - and one for progress work.

Chiba Grip Pads are great, cos they just provide a bit wider grip and so increase your grip strenght too. Also you don't sweat like in gloves.

The positive thing at this gloves is, that the material, wich sticks to the bar is from silicone which provides a great grip. (you have the feeling you glued these gloves to the bar). Because of the great grip, these gloves are excellent for training skills like Front/Back lever and so on, since your hands don't rotate.

Edit: After another look at your text, I have checked we talk about Hannibal's around the world routine. Thats my routine im currently working with and Chiba Pads are doing a good job.

Hey man. You're doing awesome!! I trained with the Tough Mudder Boot Camp exercises a couple times a week. All the exercise translate roughly to the muscle areas or skills you'll need for the obstacles.

The only obstacle that I failed at was the monkey bars. So go to the playground and do some monkey bars if that's a weak spot for you, too! Another tough obstacle that I saw some people having a hard time with was Everest- you're gonna want to practice sprints for that one because you need momentum. There are also lots of walls to climb over so I'd say train a lot of upper body strength. Also, practice your army crawls.

Mentally prepare yourself for the obstacles! The Arctic Enema scared me to death but I told myself exactly how I was going to get through it and it ended up being one of my easiest obstacles.

I did TM Boston this year, and it was hot as hell(about 90 degrees F) so make sure you drink AT LEAST one cup of water at each station, even if you're not feeling thirsty. You don't know when the next station is gonna be (unless you memorized the course map).

Don't wear anything you're not prepared to destroy or lose.
Climb some mountains or steep hills if there are any in your area. Seriously.

I started borrowing my bf's gloves just to get a better grasp. As expected, they were too huge and only helped so much before they slipped too. I went on to amazon and read reviews, and settled on a pair of harbinger gloves. Most important was measuring my hand for a good fit. I can deadlift for so much longer with them. Definitely a good investment!

These gloves have been getting pretty popular at my studio recently. They’re designed for pole, but girls will use them in Lyra too. Personally I’m not a fan, but I’ve been pretty lucky with blister issues, and my calluses have built up pretty nicely to the point where they’ve sort of merged into a whole ridge.

First couple months I was doing BW stuff, skin was starting to get messed up badly. DL's / cleans for months before though caused no problems. Some bars I would use would be varying thickness and material. I don't think using gloves impacts your grip strength; grip strength is about how well you can cup your hand given tension; the gloves will make it feel different but not change my grip strength. (And my grip strength has definitely increased over time, even with using gloves)

I've started running in a lambswool thermal, and my mom bought me running gloves ages back - those make a huge difference. It's in low single digits here (London, UK) and I'm running in the morning which is cooler... so I wear the thermal and then a tight running zippy (need pockets somewhere that don't bounce!). I wear a buff on my head to keep my ears and forehead warm (it's fantastic), the running gloves, and some loose full-length running trousers. It's light enough that I stay cool when I'm heating up towards the end of the run, btu I don't get cold at all. Definitely worth investing in that sort of thing -- tey aren't expensive at all.

Examples of the buff - they can be worn a zillion ways as well; for the mornings I roll it in quarters and wear it like a headband. When I go cycling I wear it so my face is popping out of the opening so it keeps my ears as well as my neck covered. If it's warmer and I don't need all of it I just wear it around my neck for cycling as that's better than a scarf and more loose than my cycling top.

I have female running gloves similar to these (though not Nike) and they're awesome; got the fiancé some of those for Christmas too!

I have a pair of HEAD running gloves with a touchscreen friendly surface on the thumb and forefinger. Then are small enough to slip into my back pocket when they aren't on my hands, have a reliable clip to keep them together, as well as being so dexterous I can use the in-line remote on my headphones. They are also covered in small rubber pads on the palm side, which help gripping INFINITELY. I can wear these down to 0C or -5C for a short while and they will pretty much keep my hands warm. Also, when it gets REALLY COLD (see: winter 2013-2014) I can wear them under my skiing gloves so I can take off my clunky ski gloves/mitts and have a warm layer while being much more dexterous.

I have these gloves, recommended by The Wirecutter. Not super thick, but they do fine for my area. They have very good grip on the palm so I'm not scared of dropping mine phone, and I haven't had any problems with the touch screen responding.

One con--the shape doesn't quite fit my hand somehow, so they bunch up a little on the pinky side right at the base of the fingers. It's just a slight annoyance though.

works ok but really bulky (I have the 40lb model, with about 30lb's on it..).. given that I'm only using partial the weight on there (you can remove weights in 2.5lb increments)), I think a lighter/better fitted vest might be better..

I'm also using these wrist weights- but - most people really caution against using wrist weights. I feel as if they make a big difference, but be careful w/ quick wrist movements while wearing these - (note - ignore that these are marketed to women.. they're the best wrist weights I've found after going through a few different brands and even give a bit of wrist support..)

These are what I use for Beat Saber and Creed.

Be careful.

I was aware of the potential for wrist strain and so went with hand weights rather than directly on the wrists, and alter my swings to be more controlled and straight when wearing the gloves to account for this. What I did not account for was potential back strain. I got to going one day and was really feeling it, ended up overpunching in the gym on Creed and tweaked one side of my lower back for a good week afterward. Be careful and don't overdo it!

I did a bit of research and those seem to be the best in terms of warmth and function for the price. Mine were $22 delivered. I haven't received them yet so I can't say for myself how they are. But I can tell you I am a very reluctant shopper and do quite a bit of research before making online purchases.

Edit: unlike other gloves with a thin "window" on the fingertip, these are full glove all around, with a conductive material channeling through the fabric at the finger.

I tried weighted gloves, but I much prefer the wrist weights.
The gloves have little loops that go around each of your fingers, and the weight pulls against them, which makes gripping the controller and using the buttons uncomfortable. I found it unusable. The wrist weights leave your fingers totally free.
I think either way swinging your arm with weight attached has injury potential. Like I said, I'm going to try the 1.5 lb wrist weights instead of the 2.5lb. I think they'll be perfect.

For the gloves:
I tried the 2 lb each version of the ones below. What set do you use?
The lighter version might be better, but I hate how they pull on your fingers.

I had a pair of straps from Walmart that are still working. Just a straight piece of fabric, nothing fancy. But so little to go wrong and they were dirt cheap. I've probably had them for 2ish years now?

I don't use them for deadlifts anymore though. I got a pair of these for my birthday back in August and they've worked really well. Easier to set up on the bar than the Walmart pair but they are pretty bulky around the wrists. Only real issue is that the rubber fucking stank for like 2 months when I got them.

I experienced the same thing, so I started using lifting gloves that have a fastening strap that wraps around the upper wrist with velcro. The bell rests on the strap instead of slamming on my actual wrist when I set for a press. Works like a charm.

I went through a few different gloves. I had really bad calluses on my palms. The ones you linked are awful, they tend to slide/roll into your palm making your grip even worse.

I eventually settled on these palm grips, which don’t fold or roll, but they will result in a wider palm grip and require resetting between sets.

Eventually, I gave up on gloves. Filing the calluses in combination with the use of chalk has been a long term fix for me.
