I’ve had a really long, skinny drill bit save me more than once. Drill it in as an exploratory bit, 1/4” it is alot easier to patch than a 3/4” whoops.
Also if you need to hit a stud cavity for a switch or plug but you can’t find the header from the top; have someone shoot the tiny bit into the corner of the room, then drilling down into the stud cavity from the top isn’t a guessing game.
18” 1/4” diameter bit; find it cheaper somewhere else
Or, you could just keep one of these in your truck. They really come in quite handy. Goes through drywall very easily and also allows you to drill test holes in wood, etc.
I think they make drill bit extensions for under $10 or something silly like this

Personally I have had nothing but bad luck with those auger style bits. Much prefer spade type :

There are sleeved drivers that keep the blade centered. I have one made by Makita, but it was pricey (~$10). Here's a cheaper example.
Should be able to see what you have to drill through. Providing you have nothing in the way (like electrical wiring) you can purchase an extra long drill bit for this job. Here is one example:
