It looks like they are about $30 new for this brand. It's a newer piece, and I've heard that the surface isn't as good as the old stuff. IIRC, it has more of a pebbled texture, not a smooth texture (on a small scale).

If you have tools or know someone who does, an angle grinder with a wire brush will make quick work of that, and then you can start from scratch by re-seasoning it.

I had something similar happen when I went to the grocery store and found that they had decided to get out of the cast iron cookware business. I picked up those little cast iron fajita skillets complete with the little pot holder and wooden holder tray for serving. The store had marked all cast iron 50% or greater off so I grabbed 6 of those skillet kits for 7.50 each. I should have went to their other stores but didn't think of it at the time. I was just thinking about making skillet breakfasts and fajitas on the ride home.

I found one for sale on Amazon, it doesn't seem to come with a tray. I'm stumped.
