a. What is your username? Midnighteskye, I absolutely hate things being spelled incorrectly but I was 13 and I had just had a creative writing assignment in which I named the characters Midnight and Sky but when I went to make my original email address, it being spelled correctly was not an option...so e's were added.

b. What is your item? My item is this headband because pretty!

c. What does that item cost? $.049

d. What house are you in on pottermore/in harry potter? Probably Gryffindor

e. What is your favorite pokemon? Jigglypuff because she's hilarious!

f. Favorite doctor (from any show)? Doogie Howser because Neil Patrick Harris is awesome and I watched it as a kid...

g. Favorite my little pony character? I haven't actually got a chance to watch a lot of it but I do have the Rainbow Dash hoodie, so Rainbow Dash! But all of them are adorable!

h. Favorite TV Shows and movies? I love cooking shows, specifically Chopped, Best thing I ever ate and Unique Eats/Sweets. Then I watch a lot of murder shows...so my viewing habits are weird. Movies I watch a lot of Disney or Fairytale spins.

i. Favorite books? I read pretty much any fiction, I haven't seemed to be able to make friends with Sci-Fi or some fantasy. Again Fairy Tale spins and actually Fairy Tales are a favorite! I also adore cook books, I even have a Fairy Tale feast cookbook, it's awesome. Books about photography and makeup or just quirky books are cool too (I have a wishlist for them...I need to add more)

j. Do you like anime or manga? Tell me about the ones you like! I'm more into anima, I love the art in both though. The bit of Chobits I watched I absolutely adored. Lain was cool, from what I remember.

l. What is your favorite animal? Reks (my dog) because he's mine and I think he's hilarious!

m. What is your favorite color? Rainbow! I actually really do like most colors, even colors I'm not fond of I can like in certain ways.

.....

z. How are you doing today? Well I've been sick for a week and I'm at work...but I'm doing pretty good. 4 hours and 11 minutes to go!

Between the change in weather and starting adapalene 0.1% a few months back I've had quite a bit of trial and error with my routine. My skin is now combo for the first time in my life and my main concerns are with balancing my skin out and improving texture. Worth noting that some of these products are my partner's. I'll throw in his routine as a bonus at the end. If you have any questions about products I'll do my best to answer them.

The Fails

  • Krave Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser:
I wanted to love this so much but I just don't. Something about the texture doesn't sit well with me. It's a creamier gel formula. My face always feels weirdly grimy after using it. I love the packaging so much that I want to find a way to use it. It was sent with a mini version of their AHA and I wasn't a fan of that either.

  • Cerave Hydrating Micellar Water:
I bought this as an alternative to Bioderma because I can't get it locally. It's not terrible but I won't be buying it again. It stings my eyes and doesn't remove makeup that well. I've started using it almost as a toner on heavy makeup days and then rising it after.

  • La Roche Posay Toleraine Ultra Soothing Repair Moisturizer (not pictured):
I returned this because it was breaking me out terribly. I think my skin doesn't like squalane. I loved the light yet nourishing texture of this moisturizer. The air tight packing of it is genius. I wish this worked for me and I would still recommend it to those of you that have good luck with it's ingredients.

    My AM

  • La Roche Posay Hydrating Cleanser:
Nice gentle cleanser and doesn't strip moisturize but still leaves my face feeling clean. I interchange it with Cerave Hydrating because they are extremely similar.

  • The Ordinary Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate Solution 20% in Vitamin F:
This remains one of the best products I've ever used. This has done more for my hyper pigmentation than anything else I've used.

  • La Roche Posay Mineral Water:
I interchange this and Vichy's. A quick mist just to dampen my face and it helps wake me up in the morning. Unnecessary but so enjoyable.

  • Vichy Mineral 89:
Gives lightweight moisture and sits beautifully under makeup. I really like the gel texture but when I use it up I'm switching back to Hada Labo's Hydrator.

  • Cerave PM:
A staple in my am routine during the colder months but during the summer I find myself skipping it most days. It’s been 90% humidity for the majority of the last few months so it’s been neglected.

  • Cerave Eye Repair Cream:
It's a pretty basic under eye cream but it's one of the only things I can use around my eyes without getting dermatitis so it's what I stick with. I don't have success with just using my normal moisturizer around my eyes.

  • La Roche Posay Anthelios 60 Clear Skin Sunscreen:
This has such a nice dry down and feels very light on the skin, but it has a slightly grainy texture as I blend it in. I like it well enough to look past it.

    My PM

  • Hada Labo Oil Cleanser:
This is my HG oil cleanser. It works very well and emulsifies nicely. I prefer oil cleansers to balm cleansers. This breaks down waterproof makeup, lash glue and glitter without a ton of effort. I'm a big fan.

  • Cerave Foaming Cleanser:
I really love this cleanser. It's pretty similar to LRP Foaming so I interchange them. It removes anything left over from the oil cleanser and leaves my face feeling fresh.

  • Bioderma Sensibo Micellar Water:
I have never found a micellar water I like as much as this. I don't use it all the time but I like to keep it on hand incase I need a little extra help. When I super waterproof my makeup it takes all three steps to get it off. It also works well to clean false lashes, which is a plus.

  • The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil:
I use this under my eyes and all over the face when I need to. It's a nightly thing for me during the colder months but now that it's humid out I'm using it less often.

  • Cerave Moisturizing Cream:
This reigns supreme as my nighttime moisturizer. It's just thick enough for my liking and feels so soothing and nourishing.

  • La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5:
A new addition since starting a retinoid but a welcome one. It's been helping with redness and dryness when I need it. Sometime I'll use it in the morning too, but it does leave a little bit of a white cast.

  • Cerave Healing Ointment:
I use this only around my under eyes and around the corners of my mouth and nose.

  • Differin Gel Adapalene 0.1%
This has worked wonders on the texture on my cheeks. I only had a week long purge and some dryness. It's been about 3 months and I'm still liking it.

  • Paula's Choice 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide:
Only used as needed but knocks out any emerging breakouts quickly.

    Partner's AM

  • Splash face with water

  • Differin Moisturizer w/ SPF 30

  • Neutrogena Hydroboost Sunscreen SPF 50 (if spending time outside)

    Partner's PM

  • Cerave Foaming Cleanser

  • The Ordinary 7% Glycolic acid Acid (2-3x per week)

  • Cerave Moisturizing Cream

  • Shea Moisture 100% Castor Oil (on beard)

Side note: The black abyss jar is actually filled with Muji cotton swabs. I also didn’t include the microfiber cloths and headband I use. Trust me, they’re worth it.

If you enjoy coffee, make your own coffee and bring some beans with you. The coffee at Korean coffee shops is super watered down...I hate it.

Buy deodorant if you are someone who smells (I'm Korean and most Koreans don't need it).

Beef Jerky is also something that Korean people like but is not very abundant.

Bring a GSM-enabled phone so you can buy a SIM card. A Smartphone is a must!!!

A pebble watch is super useful on the subways to wake you up before your stop. Be ready for the shower an toilet to be in the same room.

Bring some passport sized photos with you as they are necessary to get some ID cards. There are also passport machines in some subway stations.

Bring any medicines you might need as Korean pharmacies might not have the same stuff. There is also that issue of medicines being labelled in Korean.

Bring a Korean phrase book or better yet an app to translate.

LEARN HANGUL (Korean alphabet)!!!!! I cannot emphasize this enough. It is super easy and can be learned in 15 minutes or while on the plane ride! Here is a useful guide: http://9gag.com/gag/3968335/learn-to-read-korean-in-15-minutes

Google maps is not very useful in Korea because there are some regulatory things. Bing maps is suprisingly more useful than Google maps in Korea. Once you learn Hangul, use Daum maps or Naver maps.

Download the App called Kakaotalk. This is the primary means of communication in Korea instead of text messaging.

Learn to take taxis and not get ripped off. Here is an article: http://www.korea4expats.com/article-taxi-korea.html

Buy these: http://www.amazon.com/Delicol-Assorted-Seamless-Bandanna-Headwrap/dp/B00IRVNH3Q/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1420937004&sr=8-2&keywords=head+buff

Download the app called Jihachul (Korean Subway). It is very useful to learn the subway system. Also while you are there, right before you board, the map different destinations might have a # on it like (3-1). That number corresponds to the train car # that will help you walk the shortest distance. Let's say you are going to Gangnam station, there might be a # on the map like "5-2" right next to Gangnam station which means if you go to that specific car, when you get off, that specific train car will be closest to the exit or transfer point.

Make friends that are American, but also Korean! Please do not isolate yourself from experiencing Korean culture from the Korean native's eyes. Korean friends help you learn Korean, can help buy medications at the pharmacy and even help you if you need to go to the hospital. They are invaluable and will also appreciate speaking english with you.

You can drink in public in Korea, but please don't be flamboyant about it.

Subways are cheapest, taxis are not as cheap but still cheap (especially if you are with a group of people), and don't take the bus unless you know hangul and know what you're doing.

If you wear prescription eye glasses, bring your prescription with you. Eye glasses are super cheap, don't buy them in the states. They can be as low as $20-$50.

I would recommend the KT Olleh telecom company and buy the 2GB/month plan with 25 talk time minutes. This will run you around $20-$25. It comes with unlimited Olleh hotspot data and Olleh hotspots are in every subway car and almost everywhere in the city.

Korea is a gift giving society. Bring gifts from the United States to your employer, friends, or anyone who helps you. They will be in your debt and will be even more helpful in your endeavors to assimilate. Chocolate, coffee, beef jerky, whiskey, and beer are all good gifts for the appropriate person.

Korean Beer sucks, learn to drink soju. Drink it now before you go. My favorite soju is Joeun Day soju. I believe it is from Daegu. http://www.eurohitechsystem.com.sg/content/uploads/photo/resize_1389858508.jpg

- Do not use your finger to point (it's rude)
- Learn how to introduce yourself in Korean (they will like you more)

Best phrases to survive once you get there
- Hello= anyonghasayo
- Excuse me (while asking for a waiter or waitress)= Choh Gi Yo
- Excuse me (while trying to get through people in a crowded subway or accidentally bumping)- Jom Shi Mon Yo
- I would like this please= Eee Gah Juseyo
- Beer please= Maekju Juseyo
- I don't speak Korean= Hanguk Mal Mote Heyo
- Where is the bathroom?= Haw Jang Shil Oh Dee Yay Yo
- Thank you= Kamsamnida (General), Komupsimnida (at a restaurant/general), Komawo (Informal with friends)
- Goodbye= Anyongheegasaeyo (When another person is leaving), Anyongheegaesaeyo (when you are leaving)
- Take me to (name of station) exit (exit #)= (name of station) yoke (exit #) baang chul goo
Example: Take me to Hongdae Station exit #7= Hongdae yoke pal baang chul goo. (Usually used in a taxi and your destination is near a subway.

Hello fellow makeupaddictioner!! I'm OBSESSED with makeup and hair so you're in luck, lol!

First things first: Makeup!
For a very natural, professional, and simple makeup look these are my go to essentials:

  • foundation any type that suits your fancy! My personal favorite is Bare Minerals because it gives a super matte, flawless finish that looks like your skin with minimal effort. I literally just dip my brush in, dust off the excess and swipe that bitch on my face...lol

  • concealer only if you need it/have time. I only do it half the time...lol

  • bronzer I use this just to warm up my face after I apply foundation. Sometimes when you apply foundation it can cause your face to look very flat and one dimensional. Applying bronzer to all of the areas that would naturally get sunlight gives your face depth and dimension.

  • Simple Neutral Eyeshadow No need to get fancy here just a simple neutral eyeshadow will do the trick :) I don't even use multiple colors just one color I like.

  • Blush I apply just a small amount on the apples of my cheeks. My personal favorite is Elf blush in Berry Merry.

  • Mascara I'm sure you know all about mascara!

  • Chapstick I like to use chapstick rather than an actual color when I'm going with a no makeup makeup look.

I think these essentials are perfect for the professional world. The makeup isn't overbearing and it gives you the appearance that all you had to do was wake up and wash your face... that you woke up flawless which I think is infinitely more effective/professional/approachable than piling on tons of makeup.

    Here are some links:

  • Foundation

  • Concealer

  • Bronzer

  • Eyeshadow

  • Blush

  • Mascara

  • Chapstick

Also, here is a tutorial! I really like her and it's very simple and something I would do everyday not just for traveling :)

Now onto Hair... Are you still with me?? lol.

Here are my three favorite "Professional" hairstyles:

  • The Sock Bun

  • The Chignon

  • Ponytail

I think all of these hairstyles will work great with thin hair! Especially the Chignon and the Ponytail!

Here are the tutorials (All for thin hair):

  • The Sock Bun

  • The Chignon

  • Ponytail

I hope you found this really helpful! If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask :) I love helping!!

    Bonus - Hair Accessories:

  • Sock Bun Helper

  • Hair Cuff

  • Headband

  • Another Headband

  • Peacock Barrette

    The End! lol :)

    Edit: I'm bad at words.

1.) I'm in the middle but more on the same side you are. Normally I never win anything. I've had something similar where I'll be with a group of people and they'll all win something and I wont. Meanwhile my SO and his friend just won playoff tickets to a game that I entered a bunch of times (you could enter once a day) and they only entered once. I never win scratch offs or other lottery type tickets either but all the tickets I'll buy for people will be big winners for them. On the other hand I've won a contest here which surprised the hell out of me because I was having a terrible day then came home and saw I had one.

2. This is something I saw while looking at someone elses wish lish and fell in love. It's adorable and I wear buns all the time so it will work nicely.

thanks for the contest and everyone's a winner

  1. My day was awesome. I went to bday dinner with my best friend bc our birthdays are a week apart. So it was good food, laughter, and some much needed catching up! And it was seafood!!! Yum! Left overs today will be AMAZING!

  2. Doctorwhoftw

And my item is this headband for $1.68!

Thanks for the contest and welcome aboard!! :)
u/CelticMara · 3 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

My best birthday gift ever was my engagement ring, on my 47th.

We had been together for about 16 years, but both being women, had never been able to tie the knot because laws. Then, our state voted it in. Not by the politicians, but by the voters! That was in November, and on my birthday in December, she took me to a nice, romantic dinner followed by time with friends. I liked my birthday just fine, but then she surprised me with the ring. I don't think I even gave her a chance to ask a question before leaping into her arms and crying, "Yes!"

$1.38!. LoL.

Happy slightly early birthday!

u/LadySkywalker · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I think you should do 1 person because, while it would be nice to include 4 people, the majority of contests on subs like this opt for smaller prizes. Which is fine, I mean, I shouldn't be spending money anyway let alone buying someone an mp3, but larger prizes are a bit rarer. And, from an item stand point, yes there are plenty of little things you can have on your wishlist that maybe you sorta kinda need, but that bigger item might be something someone actually needs but can't afford, hence the wishlist. So I say, 1 winner.

$25 item

$10 item

$5 item.

Thanks for having a contest!

I hope she'll be a fool -- that's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool.

I didn't read the book in high school because I thought it was boring. We watched the original movie and I also thought that was boring at the time. Now that I'm an adult though, I thought I'd give it another shot. I loved the new movie. I can finally appreciate the simplicity of the story and the utter heart ache Jay experiences. After watching the movie I read the book and enjoyed it immensely. It just proves how much my mind has matured since high school.

When I think of the Great Gatsby one thing that comes to mind is the attire of the era, especially Daisy's hair accessories, and this item on Amazon gives me the nostalgic feeling of the 20's.

Heck yes I would party with Jay Gatsby!

u/Azstrid · 4 pointsr/TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Try some sheet masks :) and get a cute headband to do them in like this one. It makes a fun mini spa experience, and you don't have to deal with the messy residue from regular clay masks.

Edit: also here's some activities you can try.

  • Some sort of hand held console, like a nintendo 3ds / 2ds. They are more straightforward and beginner friendly and have a ton of games to pass you time with. Animal crossing, ace attorney, there are many fun options.

  • You mentioned you have trouble with video games? Visual Novels are another fun option, and if you into that stuff, you can try joining us at r/otomegames
u/NarwhalLollipops · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

This Gorgeous headband would definitely make me smile! I love all the little girly hair accessories since I can't wear regular earrings or costume jewelry.

I'm horrible in these same situations and my SO's family is the exact same way! They will badger me for months asking me for christmas lists and birthday lists! I always default to things I need vs. things I want because needs are easier to be specific with. Or if you go out and browse one day just take note(or take pics with your phone, makes it so much easier to remember!) of the things you come across that you like, maybe that one special thing that you've been eyeing for a long time that you never indulged in yourself because of the price?

u/Hollyingrd6 · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Awwdorable

For me it has to be the Monster Boxes just because they are so cute and look like a great place to put gifts.

Second favorite is this pretty pink polka dot hair band I love wearing these while cleaning, post shower, and while doing lawn work. Plus this one looks super soft.

Zombie Monkey

The craziest thing i have done to my hair: I wanted to be bleach blonde, i had natural dark hair at the time and i didn't want to spend 1oo+ dollars just to go get it done so i decided to do it myself, so i get a box of blonde from walmart go home and do it, and hour later i take it out it's the color of ORANGE! i cried for an hour! lol i finally said fuck it and went and got it done! it was so embarrassing but it's funny now that i look back at it, it was the day after Halloween too... LOL

I would love this!

$1.75 is the cheapest I have. I would like this because my hair is too long for a lot of things that are suppose to put your hair up.

This is $19 which is the closest to $20 that I have. I would love these earrings because it is something I love, nature.

Yup. to add an example of something unisex thats majority of woman used to use but recently there is a surge in men would be the Unisex Head/hair band. If the trend for longer hair is in style, then more hair accessories for unisex and eventually for men will be popular. At least i have seen a surge of hair care and beard care stuff in the past couple of years. I just see it as supply and demand stuff. calling it a problem jsut feels liek looking for areas to be offended about.

Thank you so much! I actually got it off Amazon! It came with cute little shoe decals that say "I Do" & "Me Too."

Protip: Those elastic headband thingies (the ones that look like giant hairties) make THE BEST cat toys evar. You can fling them like hair ties but you don't have to worry about kitty getting too zealous and choking on it and it's large enough that kitty can kick and pull it. Seriously, they are my cat's favorite toys.

  1. I had shoulder-length hair all through high school and my freshman year of college. About halfway through that year, I went completely boy-short with a sort of pixie-ish cut. That has remained my style for 4 years, until I'm now growing it out. So I know short hair decently well. One thing that I learned is while you might not be able to do as many styles with the hair itself, you can rock all kinds of headbands...smaller delicate ones, ones with a bit more bling, or even the hippie look. I had so much fun experimenting, and still do so constantly.

  2. I really want to try these out.

  3. Yes.

  4. Short hairs, no cares!
u/bisousdarling · 1 pointr/weddingplanning

I have this one from FayBox except that I bought it from eBay for $10 (someone bought it and never used it). It is surprsingly good looking and has a nice weight to it.

u/IRISistable · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

this is the cheapest

and

I want this! It is nowhere near 60 dollars, but if that allows you to gift someone else, then that would be rad.

u/Luckystar812 · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

You're welcome! :D Yep this head band

u/Coyote_Budman · 3 pointsr/Dreadlocks

I always wear an elastic unless it's a wash day. But I use those long ones just doubled up once and it's not so tight. If I forget it in the morning I just tie it back with the 2 back most center dreads, but not as comfy as the long elastic. I also like those hair tube things, like these: https://www.amazon.com/Toes-Home-Headbands-Resistence-Multifunction/dp/B071GBFPWK/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=hair+tube&qid=1563375255&s=gateway&sr=8-4

u/FluffyWinterCoat · 5 pointsr/CompulsiveSkinPicking

I have a similar headband by Etude House. It's great!

u/sydn00b · 1 pointr/Dreadlocks

or, if your hair is too thick, buy a pack of these and double them. Thicker headbands are awesome too just to keep your hair out of your face!

I have this one from Etude House and it's my favorite thing ever. Perhaps unnecessary, but I have a ton of short little hairs around my face that are growing back from the dreaded postpartum hair loss, so it's nice to have that to keep them dry. Also, cat ears.
