Pants stick out the most to me.

IMO black jeans are some of the most versatile pants you can get.

I'd get a pair of those. I personally love these, but if that's too skinny/too much, I've heard great things about Levi's 511.

Next, like a lot of other people have said, a minimal white sneaker is king. For your price point, look in to Van's Sk8 Hi for a really casual/skater look, Stan Smith's in White/Blue for a more simple look (reading back over this, I realized you were in Italy - Stan Smiths are so fucking popular it's ridiculous. As are the Adidas Gazelles. Not bad options if you want to fit in, but keep in mind you'll be wearing what everyone else is wearing). Honorable mentions are the Converse Chuck Taylor II Highs and Lows. These might be hard to find on amazon.it but make sure you're getting the Converse Chuck Taylor II - they updated the sole and it's one of the most comfortable sneakers you can get. Durable and iconic as well.

You said you're in Italy, so I reckon you're not -too- worried about heavy outerwear.

Honestly, I'd skimp on the watch if I were you - it's an accessory and IMO not nearly as important as the other staples. If you do get a watch, Timex watches are fairly popular among MFA users and pretty cheap on amazon.

Polo 3 isn't actually that large. Nor is 5. Orange is a hard color to pull off though, so I'd personally avoid wearing that.

Lots of Americans dislike polos but I spent this summer in Italy and polos were super popular so just keep doing that I guess.

I will say, all of your shirts are wrinkled. Like straight up all of them. After taking your clothes out of the dryer, hang them up. Maybe buy some hangers if you don't currently own any. Hanging them up cuts the wrinkles down so much.

If the product is available in Italy, these Gildan shirts are great quality for the money. They're not amazing but you get a lot of options. There are several options there for different packages, but I'd stick to toned down options. When most people start caring about how they dress, they don't really know how to incorporate/coordinate color properly. Low-saturation is easy to coordinate. Black/blue/greys/whites/earthtones. For example, there's a deal going on for people in the U.S. right now to mix and match tops. You can see it here. I think these outfits are done really well overall, but as you can see the colors are really muted.

A large part of looking good is in the hair - your hair in the last 2 pictures looks super good. If you need product to do that, I'd use part of the $500 to get that. Keep that shit up.

Also look into cologne - Amazon is a pretty decent place to get them. I personally love Bvlgari Man Extreme and I get it through Amazon. Consider stopping by a Sephora or something and testing out colognes to find one you like - you can typically find it on Amazon for about $60 for 3 Oz.

I'd also stay away from V-necks as much as possible. Might just be me, but I really hate them.

I'd also consider no-show socks. I realize you're in Milan, so if you want to go all in on the Milan look, I'd suggest the following:

Simple, well-fitting shirts.
Black skinny jeans, pinrolled.
White sneakers - Stan Smiths and Superstars are ubiquitous in Milan.
No-show socks.

Your one suit is great. Make sure you have a dress belt that matches the shoes you wear with your suit. A suit without a belt is hard to pull off.

When shopping on amazon - be sure to avoid shit like this. Cheap, chinese made, won't look anything like the product pictures. This sums it up pretty well. Buy stuff from brands you've heard of - you've heard of them for a reason. That being said, only buy shoes from shoe companies and clothes from clothes companies. Tommy Hillfiger and Calvin Klein and the like make decent clothes but terrible, terrible shoes.

I looked through jackets on amazon.it and this was the best I could come up with - not cheap by any means, but it'll be good quality and bombers are super ubiquitous, esp in Milan. Unfortunately, it's still about $90 but jackets get expensive quickly. It would be smart to get a simple sweatshirt or hoodie. This can be layered under the bomber for a cold night. I'd stray away from a zip up hoodie, as your bomber already has the edit zipper***.

I also just remembered that Cheap Monday is super popular in Europe - This is a great option. Low vans are also good shoes to consider.

That's uhhh... all that comes to mind. It's super disorganized and I threw a lot at ya so have fun with that. Super jealous that you get to go to school in Milan. Have tons of fun dude.

Part 1:

"Im going to list things that have bothered me in my experiences with providers. Warning, If you're a sex worker, some of these may trigger you."

Well this will get everyone's attention even if we could have predicted most of what this was going to focus on. Okay, I'll bite here without biting your head off.

"Sex workers that over value themselves. This probably has a little to do with location, but where I located, anything over $200 is a scam."

It shouldn't surprise anyone that many of us share the same view of some of our peers but that's to be expected in any profession. "What do you mean Bob is getting paid more than the rest of us? That guy does the same damn job!" LOL

… but really, I have a question. Since this seems to be a price tag based concern for you, what exactly do you think you are paying for (actual dollar amount set aside for the moment)? Seriously, list them because I am sure there are others who would make a similar list.

Example using sneakers/tennis shoes/kicks:

Adidas Futurecraft sneakers on market now. Price: USD $1,237.16 - $2,053.50

There are two ways to look at that shoe and its cost.

(1) All the technology, benefits and scarcity of that shoe and the fact that you have to be a baller with that kind of money to burn to look at something like that and think, "why not? I can afford it and having it will bring me pleasure that something cheaper and more readily available will not, etc, etc" - All these things and more would be true and justify that insane price tag but bottom line, only someone who had that kind of spending power would look at that and consider it, not complain about it. For that person, the purchase isn't out of necessity, it is for 100 other reasons that only someone with that kind of financial health could understand.

(2) The other way to look at it is "And it's made out of RECYCLED material? Like, literally, junk I can find anywhere? What kind of BS is this???" …. (note: it IS made out of exactly that. LOL). For folks who can't afford it, they won't see the value in it and will instead see every reason why it is a big rip-off, especially if the thing is well beyond THEIR perceived value of it.

Which brings us to value and perception. The financial value of something is completely irrational and based on perception. Collectibles are a perfect example. What is one man's junk is another man's rare finding for auction at a million times what it cost him when he found it and prepares to sell it to someone else. How can something be worth both $1 and $100,000 dollars at the same time? Perception of value based on the audience who decides it has value to THEM. Here is a site that sells antique and vintage spoons. You read that right, spoons like you eat with. And these are OLD spoons you wouldn't want to eat with and the buyer will never eat with, once purchased. So, kitchen spoons that you can't or won't use are listed here. Now look at their price tags and ask yourself... who determines the value and price of this... and why? These are important questions to think about if you really want to understand market values for anything, and everything.

Antique and Vintage spoons for sale

"So tired of seeing ads that are trying to charge so much because they think they're special. The highest I've personally been asked to pay was $700 for an hour, I just laughed. She was from Cali, so maybe that's normal over there, but not here."

As far as this: "ads that are trying to charge so much because they think they're special" You don't actually know that and are, instead, "mind reading" and projecting your own issues into an assumption based on mind reading. She might do it because she thinks she is special but honestly, there's a lot more to determining the price of something than what we, individually, think of it. I might honestly believe that my vagina is a velvet lined box trimmed in gold filled with coins and gems and therefore, worth a zillion-trillion dollars because it is so rare, exclusive and desirable. And I could ask for that but is it, STILL, only a reflection of me thinking I am so special when someone actually gives me the zillion-trillion dollars that I asked for to get access to it? Pricing anything is a tricky process. Pricing time instead of a physical object you can carry home and keep is even more complicated and most of what makes successful pricing (someone pays you the asking price = success) is not simply making prices up and hoping for the best.

Now, depending on where you live, your statement may or may not be an accurate reflection of your provider market and the surrounding patron economy. Obviously, if you live in Oklahoma and you are asking $500 entry fees - you are going to starve to death. If you ask the same price in Los Angeles, you are going to be homeless after your first month there because you can't even afford your rent. Same amount of money, same outcome (pricing failure), two very different reasons.

Also, sometimes, the rate is higher because there is also a time limit on what is being offered. A pretty, young girl will only be pretty AND young during a really short window of time. The same time she is reproductively able to start a family. Doing one is not compatible with the other. It can be done but there are a lot of sacrificed to be made no matter what decisions you make in life. This is the world of being an adult: choices that require sacrifices of other things. So for someone young AND pretty who is being sought after because of her age (18-25 years old. And don't kid yourself. Everyone is attractive during that time frame, especially to clients with arrested development issues that think women are "too old" after 25), that female, especially, only has a small window of time to work with to make money off it but in the process, she is sacrificing the time necessary to be able to do the necessary researching through normal dating to identify a good candidate to be a life partner and build a family with. Fact: good marriage partners cannot be ordered on Amazon and don't appear because you suddenly decide you want one and the third person you meet at a bar magically becomes "the right one". If only life were that simple. And, fun fact for all you males who are also on vanilla dating sites, your dick is of no benefit to us. Never was. Never will be. If your only interest in a female begins and ends with your dick needs, you aren't worth being with and it doesnt' take many bad dates and boyfriends for females to figure that out. So if you are looking for someone who won't charge you and actually is considerate of your budget and future goals, adjust your approach. You will catch raccoons, not race horses, with fish bait.

So for young, female providers, time doing this is time NOT spent being able to find a good candidate to have and raise children with. (Marrying rich, dirty old men and having their babies as a retirement plan is NOT something I would wish on anyone's offspring. Who needs people like that for parents?)

What does this all mean? It means that some of the cost to bear in appropriate pricing for a provider in this age group was established at the beginning of time for this profession when folks knew that family WAS your insurance policy because there was no medical, life or social security insurance to protect you. Bottom line: part of the high cost is for the things the provider has to sacrifice to be able to do this in the here and now instead of navigating toward a different future. Just because you can't see the additional cost factors doesn't mean they aren't there or valid. Remember, Adidas Futurecraft sneakers start at USD $1,237.16 for a reason and at the end of the day, if you want to get simple about it... it's still just a sneaker.

u/ScapegoatZovc · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

Ok, so here are all the ones I've tried. And I did, in fact, purchase them all on Amazon. All of them came from Vivobarefoot's store on Amazon with the exception for the Scott. The Scott was had on 6pm.com's Amazon store and I got them for $89.99 and that is excellent value, IMO.

I was skeptical like you are, based on the reviews I read but you always should keep in mind most people aren't going to write reviews unless they're unhappy. Your data is going to be negatively biased and what's more we as humans generally remember negative feedback more than positive. Better to err on the side of caution, but if you're able to take a chance you might be pleasantly surprised!

And I have been.

I can't say these shoes are "built to last" in the sense that, like you say, they're not made to be re-soled, but they don't feel any less durable than the majority of sneakers I was wearing before hand from brands like Nike and Adidas. I tried wearing 'nicer' shoes like Allen Edmonds and just could not find ones that agreed with my feet, so I can't really compare quality there.

The boots I can compare my Scott to are my L.L. Bean Bean Boots and my Jack Erwin Chelsea Boots. The bean boots were sized as properly as I could get them, but they were never comfortable. They're made to be rugged and they're made to be worn with really thick socks, I have a really narrow build and my calves, ankles, and feet are lean like the rest of me. I always felt like I had too much room and would sometimes get rubbed in places because of it. The Jack Erwins Chelseas are kind of the opposite in every sense, they're made for less rugged activity and I liked pretty much everything about them. They felt formed to my leg and foot well and while I am not in love with the arch support, it doesn't kill me. If I was going to be walking around all day I probably would opt for something else.

Comparing the Scott to those, they're functionally my favorite boot. Hard to get on sometimes like I mentioned, but I hardly realize I'm wearing them when they're on. Zero "support" and lots of ground feel and I love it. I don't live in a cold area and I haven't tested the weather resistance or whatever they called it, but I imagine they would be fine for a rush to or from your vehicle.

Everything else I've gotten from them are shoes, I'll give a brief comment on each of them.

  • Vivobarefoot Men's Bannister Premium Classic Sport Shoe: I didn't really like anything about these, would not recommend.

  • Vivobarefoot Men's Lisbon Shoe: like I said I'm very impressed with these. They have creased up more than I would like, but they have stood up to scuffs well enough. I haven't tried cleaning them up or polishing them but I wear them almost every day at work and have had them since April 13.

  • Vivobarefoot Men's Ra Lite Walking Shoe: These are quite comfortable but I don't like how they look at all in person. They're rather see through, I'm not a fan of the contrast lacing... they look like "swim shoes" as we called them when I was a kid.

  • Vivobarefoot Men's Mata Canvas Walking Shoe: Mixed feelings about these. I got them as my quest continued to find a tasteful and comfortable pair of white shoes from Vivobarefoot. The "natural" color is not white and I'm sad about that, but it's not a bad color. It doesn't go very well next to my skin tone, but it looks fine in some outfits. The shoe is really comfortable and I ware it a lot, in spite of not being in love with the way it looks. Considering trying a leather pair but I don't particularly love any of the colors there, either.

My advice would be to either review their return policy on their website and buy there or to just order through Amazon, who has a tremendously forgiving return policy.

And--not to be rude or whatever--but I think expecting to re-sole a ~$150 pair of shoes is ambitious for most brands. Even if it's possible, I don't know that it'd be worth it. I say that, but I've never re-soled a pair of shoes and am pretty ignorant in that regard so I could be totally mistaken.
u/W0bbly_Sausage · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I am the most indecisive person when it comes to shoes. I find it a really awkward thing to buy, specially in-store when you have to do that little test walk that makes people always walk funnily rather than normal.

I think its really hard to have a look for someone else so I focused on what I am looking for.

I started with comfort so you have a few different style of Skechers.
1)I dont know your family situation but these strike me as dad sneakers lol
2)These are a little bit more serious. I am from the UK so terminology is somewhat different. Not sure if you would consider them sneakers
3)These are sportier and ideal if you like to run but dont want to spend way too much on running shoes
4)Nike also has these running shoes I have always liked Nike shoes and they have a variety of colours, even if size 15.
5)I think these Adidas look amazing. I love that combination of colours.
6)Last but not least, another pair of Nike ones that I liked

Let me know what you think. I think I found it easier than choosing for myself which is very odd. I guess the hard part for me is making the final decision!

Should I win, I am happy for you to surprise me.

Thank you and have a nice day

u/ryan_lewis · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

Hey SaidTheWalrus,

I think for a casual event like this at a pub/bar, a simple casual outfit like you said would be great. Fit is pretty important if you want to have a slightly more refined look.

Try an outfit like this:

  • Sneakers (definitely not running shoes or anything bulky)

Saucony Jazz Low Pro (my personal favorites)

    Onitsuka Tiger Shoes

New Balance (the circle-jerk sneaker of MFA. 501, 574, 402 are some of the most popular.)

  • Dark Wash Jeans

    J. Crew Factory Driggs Jean

    Levi's 511 Jean

    Uniqlo Slim Fit

  • V-neck T-Shirt

Gap Essential V-neck Tee (I would recommend the dark charcoal)

Also, I would alternatively suggest a simple, slim fitting light cotton v-neck sweater as an alternative to the tee. It's a subtle way to refine the outfit. Something like this:

    J. Crew Factory Sweater

Most importantly, as long as you stick with clothes that fit your body well, and colors that aren't too loud, you'll have that refined look that you want. Keep it simple. I hope this helped. Just ignore the guys who are here to troll instead of trying to help.
u/matches05 · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Yes! I love shoes! You can never go wrong with Under Armour. They are good quality, good-looking, and will last you a long while. Check out all the reviews, stellar!
Now, I don't know what you will use them for whether it's sports or casual, but shoes can be versatile. Here are some I really love!

  1. Casual
  1. Hello leather
  2. Have some color, also there are different colors in this style. I also really love the gray ones.
  3. These seem to be great for sports.
  4. Sporty casual if that's your jam.
  5. Here is one also in a variety of colors.

Now, if I had to rank them (and ofc, this always depends what you will be using these shoes for) I would go with 5, 3, 2, 1, 6, 4... I think. I may have messed up the tabs. What do you think?

Edit: oh, and if I had to pick something from my WL in that range it would be one of the two dark red lipsticks :) But you can also surprise me!
u/Daeus07 · 3 pointsr/malefashionadvice

I think folks like /u/Ehsu and /u/backbank are on a good track. Androgyny is the key word here. Maybe also throw in some low profile shoes (Like this rather than this). Some drapey outerwear over a scoop neck. Maybe a scarf if weather permits (25 ways to tie one). Wear pants with a tight taper and maybe some elastine blended in to give it some stretch. Put more emphasis than usual on the hips when considering the silhouette of an outfit, like /u/trashpile does sometimes by wearing 3/4 cropped pants and pushing them up over his calves. You can throw on a crazy print, then balance it by muting the rest of the outfit. Try some bright colors.

Adding a feminine or androgynous element or two to an outfit isn't as "out there" as some would believe, and you'll see some crop up in the top WAYWTs if you know what to look for. Some people, particularly if they're skinny, can wear clothes with many androgynous elements and still get a lot of praise. Just make sure that what you're wearing is cohesive as a whole. Don't forget that it's still important to balance texture, color, silhouette, and all that other fun stuff even when building more unusual outfits. Perhaps even more so, as clumsiness can lead to accusations of affectation.

I am looking for some quality brown/dark tan wingtip boots. I saw a guy at a concert in jeans and these wingtip boots that looked extremely classy. I am looking for something that looks like this but not 450 dollars obviously. I don't mind spending $200 to $300 if they are really high quality boots that will last me.

I was going to go with this but the amazon reviews made it seem like the quality of these is lacking and the shoe falls apart fairly quickly. I like these and these but I want wingtip boots that are longer and look like european dress boots and the wingtip embroider design seems a little large and lacking in my opinion. Does anybody have any suggestions?

The Puma El Rey is a great choice. For $35 you get a leather slip-on that can pass for a shoe with a much higher price. I've been to many clubs with these on and never got hassled. And the best part since they are inexpensive you don't have to worry about getting them messed up and they're easy to clean.

Lightwash Jeans - $15 w/ Club Cali Code

Grand Total = $188, with room left for shipping. (I didn't include the H&M 20% off code so this could be a bit cheaper)

Edit: Also, thrifting and a tailor/sewing machine is a great alternative to the jeans. You can make this $20 cheaper by thrifting a pair of jeans and bringing them to a tailor ($8+) or having your moms taper it (priceless). With that $20, another good piece would probably be a layering piece like a camo jacket.

Hello,
After looking for a Converse-like shoe, but with no rubber toe cap and smaller bottom sole, I have settled on Keds Champion for Men.

However, on the site the Grey and Steel Grey use the same pictures. Does anyone have a gallery showing the differing colors? In addition, any pics with guys wearing them?
Thanks!

Consider a brown leather wingtip / brogue boot with a lug sole. I've been wearing a pair in Edmonton this week in -25C temps with some good quality wool socks. They look equally good with jeans or dress pants.

Something like these:

One word: fashion. Different field of fashion, but open up any GQ mag and you'll see ordinary leather combat boots that are $700+. Street fashion is no different. Here is a pair of Adidas Yeezy 350s in my size for $1,700: They're not made any better than any other casual shoe, but they are in demand for their exclusivity.

What it boils down to is simple economics: if the demand is high, so is the price. So when a product or company in the fashion industry convinces the target audience that the item in question is cool, exclusive, or ahead of the curve, it raises the interest and subsequent demand. Supreme has done this by making inroads with the social media modeling scene, street scene, and underground fashion scene. They target city and metro-area people aged ~18-30~ who are likely more receptive to streetwear than to high fashion offerings from a Gucci or Burberry.

A good pair of Converse Chuck Taylors are perfect for weightlifting and will last quite a while.

I bought these: https://www.amazon.com/Vans-Atwood-Canvas-Pewter-White/dp/B00K5OWXP6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1472844713&sr=8-1&keywords=vans+atwood

Very comfortable, but the top is very soft, somewhat like felt so they probably wont last many flip tricks, but what can you expect from $35

Good luck finding these. They are nearly impossible to find in this color. They were made by Bostonian. http://www.amazon.com/Bostonian-EASTBEND-Mens-Eastbend-Lace-Up/dp/B003UU998G

There are some regular nylites on Amazon and zappos. But it does look like a lot less size and color options compared to the nylite plus.

Lately I've been wearing El Reys a lot. They're pretty comfy.

Are these Old Skool Vans from Amazon real? The heel logo is black instead of red and the bottoms are white instead of rubber-yellow. Compare to this pic and this pic from Vans.com. They look sketchy.

> lol, these kinds of child-labor/child-prostitution apologetics are kinda funny in juxtaposition to how much hand-wringing is done over great leaps forward and collectivization/rapid industrialization done under state planning

Well, once capitalism vs socialism genocide Olympics begin the discussion is pretty much over, at least from a social science perspective. But yeah, it's pretty unlikely that an argument that could attack state-socialism/maoism/marxist-leninism/communism/whatever as immoral, defend the morality of capitalism and yet still somehow remain consistent. The only person to do it somewhat successfully was Hayek but usually, you end up with something more akin to Rothbard or Mises.

> Not to say that the respective sets of problems are commensurable

The solution is to compare them anyway, obviously.

> and moral thinking split that happens with them: we know of no better way of doing capitalism without child-labor (or child-prostitution),

We know how "to do" capitalism without child labor but unfortunately, I do not think we can say the same about the industrialization which where we see the most flagrant abuses of child labor historically and contemporarily.

Regardless, I'm not really sure what you point is. It's not like capitalism has a monopoly on the use of child labor.

> yet the consequences of state-enforced industrialization and agricultural reform are unconditionally the final nail in the communist coffin.

The nail in the coffin for forced industrialization and collective agriculture reform is that it is that it is not competitive in the long term. Not that they don't have their place, many of the east asian tigers started with state lead reform and then transitioned to market economies.

Look for a dainite (or similar) sole'd shoe. I wore these (not dainite but still) the past two winters in Boston and they held up well to slush/snow/salt. Just replaced the laces this year, after the winter I'll probably need to get them re-soled as they're wearing down.

For those wondering, this is the hoodie they're talking about.

They also think that Yeezys are reasonably priced.
