Do you share your bathroom with just a few people or is it a communal shower setup that the whole floor uses? If it's one stall shower shared with only 1-4 other people, you may be able to install a showerhead filter. I use this one, which is super easy to install, just screw off the old head and screw this one on, and the filter is good for ~6 months. If you share the shower with 3 or 4 other people, it may be worth it to swap out every semester instead (~4 months). Ideally it'll bind/filter all of the minerals in the hard water that are messing with your skin and bringing the pH up so high.

Agreed. My buddy's father had one in his cabin (now his house)... I hated it.

I bought a 7ish inch shower head (KOHLER K-10282-AK-CP Forte Single-Function Katalyst Showerhead, Polished Chrome https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B003BIFGUM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_JspwCbMKH5ZQP) and a shower head riser (my shower head was 6ft high at best without one, so as a 6 ft tall guy it sucked) and it's amazing.

I spent a week at a mansion (legit, that place was incredible) with these (or similar) shower heads courtesy of a friend and figured if nothing else one of these would add a good bit of daily luxury to my place for not much money. Totally worth it if you have enough water pressure to support 2.5gpm.

Now I just need a hot water heater instead of my old ass furnace based tankless system so I don't run out of hot water all the time in the winter... Saving up but idk if I'd rather a nice new wood stove or hot water.. Haha

This one:

I had a similar goal as you. Bought it because it was the highest rated on Amazon. Fantastic, strong flow rate. Rubber nozzles so they won't get clogged up (and if for some reason they do, rub your hand over the rubber bits to clear the holes).

u/stoaster · 1 pointr/pics

I went to Amazon to see if anything similar exists at a less ridiculous price.

I think I'd rather just get this. Still a bit more than I'd like to spend on a shower head, but pretty damn cool nonetheless.

Edit: There's a [slightly smaller one](http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0056L5NGO?ie=UTF8&tag=webloocen-20&linkCode=shr&camp=213733&creative=393185&creativeASIN=B0056L5NGO&redirect=true&ref
=s9_simh_gw_p60_d0_g60_i2) that is actually pretty reasonably priced.

Also, this one looks a bit too much like Glados. I wouldn't trust it.

u/VeryMuchDutch101 · 9 pointsr/DIY

You did an excellent job...

Only thing I have never understood from American/Canadian bathrooms is the handle to operate the water.

In many parts of the world, the standard is something like this. 1 side that actually gives you an exact temperature where you can leave it on (forever or change it whenever)... And another side for just the amount of water.

Anyway.. just wondering why y'all prefer the American version versus the one that shows you the temperature.

Edit: also, spend $15 and get a nice big showerhead, it will change your world! Something like this or this?

The technical EVERYTHING would be the following:

2 of http://www.amazon.com/Waterpik-SM-623-Original-Showerhead/dp/B00178RUE8/ref=sr_1_16?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1459274288&sr=1-16&keywords=waterpik+showerhead

Not only does it feel amazing on your nipples, its just plain great to have two shower heads. Once you shower like that you will wonder how you lived without it up to this point!

u/Jessie_James · 5 pointsr/LifeProTips

A better idea would be to purchase a better showerhead. The brand can make an incredible difference in perceived pressure.

I have been a big fan of Speakman and (surprisingly) WaterPik. Here are my two favorites, and they are 45 minute long shower wife approved too.

We just moved into a new place, and bought this shower head on Amazon for about $10 (plumber's tape included). It was easy to put on, and it's been great!

Happy Dirty Thirty!

This is something I do not need, but would love to have. I think taking a shower in disco lights is something everyone should experience.

u/GCS_3 · 10 pointsr/funny

From one tall person to another get one of these then a rain style showerhead.

It's a great feeling to stand up straight and have the water wash over all of you, front and back.

u/badassmthrfkr · 4 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

Maybe invest in a bigger shower head, one with an arm that makes water fall straight down. It's a lot better at getting two people wet/warm because the water isn't being sprayed from one side and coverage is better due to larger head.

this shower head will also save your a pretty penny on your water/heat bill

u/molawol · 2 pointsr/LV426

Yeah they are pricey, especially shipping to the UK :(

I agree about getting the Mondo one, it's also an original art piece whereas you can probably get the covenant one as a normal poster for pretty cheap, it will probably look the same once framed anyway.

This one is much cheaper and the same size.

u/Turdworm · 1 pointr/RandomKindness

I have a lot of pain issues and the doctors won't give me enough pain meds to last me. Hot showers help. I sit on a icechest/cooler in the shower stall (no tub) and let the hot water hit me. I do this several times a day to ease the pain. I am disabled so I can't afford to buy one of those showerheads right now. I have been really wanting a nice hand held showerhead like this one and one of these.

So, then I could attach that thing to the stall lower down and put the hand held showerhead in it right above my back and just sit there and let it soothe the pain for awhile.

It's a very nice thing you are doing regardless of who you pick. Peace.

This is the one I have:

https://www.amphiro.com/en/produkt/amphiro-a1-basic/

the first search result for something similar and more available was this:

https://www.amazon.com/WaterHawk-Smart-Shower-Temperature-Display/dp/B01C47Q2S0

So I'm sure there are more options out there

Hope this helps!

u/aerobearo1 · 1 pointr/HomeImprovement

I just finished a remodel, and I had the exact same question. Like others on this thread, I figured the shower head is not a permanent investment, so I went with cheap. I got this rain shower head for $30 (pretty cheap for a 12" head), been using it for a month, and I'm completely happy with it. It looks great and the water flow evenly out of every single nozzle. No complaints so far, but we'll see if there's any issues with durability.

LORDEAR F01082CH Solid Square... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015STC3WA?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

This guy - https://www.amazon.com/Waterpik-Massage-Shower-Brushed-Nickel/dp/B07C8R9Q6G/ref=sr_1_12?crid=1V01WY38XNECC&keywords=waterpik+shower+heads+with+handheld+spray&qid=1573969378&sprefix=waterpik+shower%2Caps%2C210&sr=8-12

It has a pause switch (water comes out a little, but is not on blast) It's good as a handheld for washing dogs or in the holder as a regular showerhead.

u/decemberrrose · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

This is the one I bought. It has great reviews. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00E8YJC0S

I’m 6’2” and that’s exactly what I did. The extender and rain head is amazing.

No this is vitally important.. I want to get a shower head like that... I'm looking at this one: AKDY (TM) Bathroom Chrome Shower Head 8" AZ6021 Rain Style https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003064FXY/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_.ADUub02MP6G9

OP we need commentary on the shower head STAT

u/Alabaster13 · 1 pointr/Plumbing

Here is what I want to get:
http://m.homedepot.com/p/MOEN-Halo-3-Spray-9-in-Rainshower-Showerhead-in-Chrome-26017/203468330

Here's what I have now:
http://www.amazon.com/AKDY-AZ-6021-Bathroom-Chrome-Shower/dp/B003064FXY

I keep reading that rain shower heads waste hot water much faster than regular showerheads. If I buy the Moen will I get better results vs what I have now?

u/wbgraphic · 5 pointsr/LifeProTips

For ten bucks, it's tough to beat this. Great pressure (after removing the restrictor), and the massage mode is fantastic on a sore back.

This one is the same thing, but with a matching hand-held head. Haven't enjoyed a shower so much in years.
