I work in a similar environment. I have to wear steel-toe boots, pants, no jewelry everyday. I risk getting minimally dirty, but I can expect many of the stains to come out in the wash (not all though!). Normal clothes for other managers/engineers at my company is essentially a golf shirt with jeans. The operators I work with all wear t-shirts and jeans.

I definitely second the recommendation to wait a few days before buying many things. However you do need clothes to wear for these few days, figure out what everyone else wears and buy a few "basics" of whatever your co-workers wear. It'll be nice having a few things that you can put on and not worry about the first few days of work.

Once I got comfortable at my job I allowed myself to venture into more variety of clothing, and this is what I found was really important for me:

  • a good couple pairs of jeans. I had to buy quite a few more pairs of jeans than I am used to owning because I washing them far more frequently than I used to because of stains/smell. I now have around 4 pairs of jeans that I rotate between for work. I'm working on replacing two of them so I can remove them from rotation because they don't fit or look good. Having good fitting jeans is essential. I really like high waisted skinny jeans for work (although not the super skinny kind, ones that are more like a straight leg).
  • I love having undershirts. I never wore undershirts before in my life, but H&M's basic tees are amazing for just a little extra warmth if it's slightly too cold in the office area, and they seem to smooth out any bad bra lines.
  • I've started (slowly) getting more hair clips and things. It's somewhat difficult to find clips that are functional, but still cute without feeling like I'm breaking the intent of the dress code. I have a lot of cloth headbands, and I'm starting to find more cute things to keep my hair up everyday.
  • Shirts are the biggest pain in my rear. It seems like it's impossible to find a shirt with: sleeves, no lace, no beads/sequins/bedazzling/sparkles/things that can fall off, and cover my entire stomach. I find that I prefer shirts that I can wear tucked in since my job requires me to carry around an extra phone (I wear it on my belt), and that gives me additional access to it.
  • speaking of belts I have a couple of cute belts, and since my workplace is casual I don't mind having a belt with detailing engraved on the leather or extra studs.
  • I may be a nerd but I bought myself this pouch to store pens in, because I walk around all day and I carry just a few sheets of paper and it's nice to have pens/flashlight, and having girl pants means no pockets and that just won't do.

I know you are looking for a plastic case, but here's one a friend of mine has and likes. I have to say, for me with small hands, the case did add some bulk. For my friend, he says it doesn't feel like it did and is ok for him. Also, he hasn't tried wireless charging with this case, but it is advertised to work with it (must take cards out and open flap).
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075JN7JZC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_1DvNAb7983KNQ

My friend originally had this case below.
However, after a few months and a drop (from not very high), the kickstand part had snapped off and the corner of the case had cracked. I think that will be the issue with this style case & hard plastic.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075ZP7RDL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_.4vNAbJW05ZS8

I found this leather case, not plastic, that looks interesting and unique. The phone has a case, which is detachable from the wallet portion of the case. Works well for wireless charging with minimal fuss and also for days when you want to go with a slimmer look, but still have a nice case on. It is a bit high in price, but the case looks to be made well and reviews look good (may want to add screen protector, I would with any style cases like this really)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07715X5GZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_FNvNAbW37KACJ

Here's another model from the same company that is a little less expensive, slimmer, BUT doesn't offer the detachable case feature
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076W41XDW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_0TvNAbYZE0PYV

Hope this helps! 😊

I splurged and bought the Lo & Sons OMG bag a while ago because I had this same problem. I can usually fit my gym shoes, gym clothes, water bottle, work stuff, MacBook Air, and small toiletry pouch with room for more things. I usually make a giant ass salad for lunch for the week and bring that in with me on Mondays, so I carry that separately in an a tote bag. It's not ideal but not bad for only 2x/wk.

I travel a lot so here are other tips for downsizing:

  • water bottle --> get a foldable one like the Vapur Eclipse

  • towel --> get a lightweight one like the packtowel. XL is the best size (I say this as a petite person).

  • wallet --> get an iphone wallet case like this Vault one and transform any rewards cards into apps on your phone. If you really need to carry a bunch of cards, I like the secrid card case.

Edit: Its also very slushy/snowy where I live (thanks, Jonas!), so I keep work shoes under my desk. Maybe that will help you juggle your shoes?

Cable: CHOETECH 1.6ft (0.5m) USB-A to USB-C - I have the 1 meter cable as well, but realized I didn't need that much slack.

Charger: PowerGen 4.2Amps / 20W Dual USB Car charger I've had this for a while now - close to 3 years. (I seem to have an older version as my order history says 3.6Amps / 18W.) I bought it when I had my Google Play Edition Galaxy S4 and a company iPhone 4s. It shows as Charging when plugged in - not rapidly but not slowly either. I use DashClock still and it shows as "Charging (AC)" instead of USB, and it keeps up with running Google Music and Play music at the same time on long trips. I don't have the brightness jacked up, about half way, and it will charge will driving long distances.

Case:Spigen Thin Fit Nexus 5x Case I've liked Spigen and I wanted a thin case. I don't have the biggest hands in the world (reason I didn't get a 6p) so I didn't want a case that added a lot of bulk.

Screen Protector: ANSOTT LG Nexus 5X Tempered Glass Screen Protector I rolled the dice as there are a bunch out there and so far it has been fine. I see 2 chips in the protector from what I assume are drops I caused.

Car Mount: Ipow Long Arm Universal Windshield Dashboard Cell Phone Holder This is to replace this mount which I had for about 2 years. The design of this older one used some springs and plastic grooves that the 2 arms slid on and it eventually wore and cracked. The only problem with the new one is that due to the power and volume buttons on side, it has to be mounted in one spot to not hit any of the buttons. The grip is strong and the arm is nice as it's closer to me than the old one - I don't have to reach as far. This plus the new Android Auto update should make trips nicer.

I don't know if they make a rp2 case but if they do. I am currently using Razer Phone Case,Feitenn Razer PU... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078GRP8CY?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share it has a pretty awesome magnet in the front and back but it lacks a latch. It can only fit 3 credit cards in it at a time. Or 2 cards and some folded cash. It's the first wallet case I have had that doesn't obstruct the camera either. Hope my information is at least somewhat usable.

u/mbar28 · 1 pointr/lgg5

Not a novelty case by any means, but this faux leather wallet case it the case I had for my last phone and I was really pleased to find it was available for the G5 (I just switched yesterday).

For the price, I think it's a great buy: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01C25N1CE/

I'm excited to see what novelty phone cases pop up in this thread. There's a "shell phone" case I really liked (makes your phone look like a mermaid's sea shell). Maybe the G5 will have more options than my last phone?

u/guest8272 · 2 pointsr/LGG3

http://www.amazon.com/Verus-Quick-Circle-Window-Dandy/dp/B00KY6CZGC

This is the case I am currently using. Love it! The leather feels great and it's so easy to lock and unlock the screen by just opening or closing the flap. Through the quick circle I can answer calls(and talk through the cover), take pictures, make calls, and get basic weather info. I can tap to unlock and it even shows you the notification icons for a second when you unlock it. The plastic that snaps on fit's extremely well and feels like quality plastic but you don't feel much of it since most of the back is leather as well. It's just a plastic case so protection is near zero but still better than naked. Wasn't sure what to expect with the Quick Circle feature but I wanted to give it a try. I've been pleasantly surprised with both the case and the Quick Circle feature.

3.

I just got the Poetic Flip-Book a few weeks ago, and so far I like it. It's not leather, but it's "leather-like", and it's pretty thin. It protects it pretty well, and covers the screen, which is why I got it.

u/AnesthesiaHood · 1 pointr/samsung

I have [this case] (https://www.amazon.com/Galaxy-Wallet-Case-Protective-Kickstand/dp/B06W5P121S) and absolutely love it. I had the same for my previous iphone and they're great. I love not having to carry a wallet.

I second the thought about not having a screen cover. I think they affect performance.

u/Mewphie · 1 pointr/minimalism

I tried to take some pictures of what I've got while in the steak and shake drive thru. Bear with me...

the inside

the outside + keys

the phone case ($10!! And good quality)

In the wallet case is my bank card, work FOB, and ID (covered). Also, I keep two checks and a $20 in the cash slip which is underneath the card slots. The mirror is pretty nice for checking for food in my teeth and maybe because I'm a little vain.lol

The case also has a slim (removable) wrist strap. If I don't have the benefit of pockets I'll use that to keep my hands free. You can see that my keys (car fob and house key) which I keep on a carabiner are attached to the wrist strap. So basically, this is my real all in one. Phone, keys, money, ID, but also a few other things which is nice.

Truthfully, I lately I rarely attach my keys, though. I keep them in my pocket separately or in my work bag because I don't have to take them out with push to start. I guess I always have a pocket for them because it's winter, too.

u/kd95 · 2 pointsr/askwomenadvice

This is my favorite and sturdy enough for drops. Trust me, I’ve dropped my phone so many times where I’ve busted my screen saver twice now, but nothing broke on my phone. I’m pretty clumsy. Also, holds more cards than most of the others. I have 2 credit cards, drivers license, and thin medical and dental card in mine.

u/mnp · 3 pointsr/Nexus5

This Nilkin, very basic but it's actual leather and pretty solid; worth a try for ten bucks. There is no closure flap, which I prefer. Autowake works well for the N5.

I will caution readers that this coverbot, also ten bucks and also pretty well made, does NOT have an autowake magnet. The AMZ description is wrong. The case was okay otherwise and note it does have a latching flap.

u/mrrossi79 · 2 pointsr/iphone

The screen I would use most of the time would be the front screen which looks tiny and has big fat ugly borders.

Most times I'm using my phone with one hand, take a short glimpse, write or read an imessage or it's mounted in my car for waze. All this time I would have to look at this ugly brick with a small display.

The waze navigation could be an improvement with the big screen, but i don't see a safe method to mount this in my car, maybe there will be some mounts that work well in 2020. But to make it safe it should be clamped on both sides, i see problems with a folding device but maybe it's possible.

The big no go for me is that I would never again operate a phone without a leather case that also protects the display like this zover case which is also magnetically detachable. I don't see a nice solution for this coming. It would be getting too big and unusable. But a device for that much money needs some kind of protection.

This device serves just as an " see, we did it first device". Samsung as always just don't gives a fuck if this really enhances the user experience. foldable screens are nothing new, it's just the first device you can buy. I'm sure every big company works on something like this since it was first presented and we will see many similar concepts in the future.

I have this one, spigen did a good job with this folio/wallet case. I can fit three cards and a few bills inside and it is still comfortable. It provides decent protection I really like the hard case inside of the leather case. If you buy it defiantly buy on Amazon almost 20 bucks cheaper there!

I use the Spigen thin fit case. It looks good, isn't bulky, and has a lip on the front. Only small drawback is the headphone hole is sized for most consumer headphones and since I wanted to use studio headphones (ATH M50), I had to take a drill and carve out a bit at the bottom. It works great now though.

Like you, I was also thinking of purchasing the Quad Lock Universal Bike Mount with my N5X. I am sporting a Spigen Thin Fit Case, which is very nice IMO.
I'm not really looking for waterproofing as I am a fair weather rider but I think the Quad Lock plus a tight fitting case should hold the phone secure and suit you just fine.

u/lunar_unit · 2 pointsr/nexus5x

I've been looking for something similar to use for backpacking. I want quick access to the phone (so mounted on the shoulder strap most likely), want it protected from branches, light rain, etc. I don't want it flapping around, coming off the strap due to a button or velcro type mounting, and probably a clip of some sort to keep the pouch flap locked down.

I'm looking at cases/pouches like this, or this but I need to ascertain sizes before ordering and I'm not sold on the fastening straps/button thing.

The belt/strap loop options on this one are good.

These look awesome, I just ordered a similar one from Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N3K42BM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) but I'm wondering if I should cancel it and switch. I really want a case like this that can hold my ID and a credit card so I don't have to carry around a wallet. It does seem odd that the two cases come in the exact same colors (same color names and everything).

I have this and it is great. Cards do not fall out, completely eliminated my wallet and people ask me about it all the time. Get a slit glass for protection against drops too.

u/sage6paths · 7 pointsr/GalaxyS8

I found out the hard way. The item that I bought was the Maxboost Galaxy S8 Wallet Case on Amazon. Link Avoid if possible. This also applies to any wallet case that has the card edges in contact with the screen. I had my S8 for a month now and noticed scratches on the front screen. At first I thought I had dropped the phone but the scratches were more in a straight line than that of dropping a phone. I noticed that the scratches were parallel to the card holders on the left and put two and two together. The problem is that the card pockets and the edges of the cards will have contact with the screen and the card will cause scratches. I tried taking the card out and placing them in another card pocket but the middle one will be in contact with the screen. If you are looking for a wallet case that does not scratch your screen cover make sure that at least the first pocket will fit the entirety of the card so that the edge will not scratch it. I'm probably going to buy a tempered screen now which I should have done in the first place. It won't fix the scratches but at least the main screen won't be scratched.

u/Will_T · 1 pointr/pixel_phones

I wanted a sturdy one that also had some space for a few cards. Have had the following for several months and I like it and it has held up well.

I picked up a slim Spigen from Amazon and called it a day. I'm not so much concerned about drops. I just like that it gives the phone a little bit of a lip around the camera lens and the front edge if it's face-down. The slim Spigen adds a negligible amount of bulk - maybe a couple millimeters.

u/iLoveCalculus314 · 3 pointsr/consulting

For shoes/belt, go for AE. They make belts that match the exact color of the shoe. High quality belts too.

For wallet, doesn't matter at all just no Spiderman wallets. I personally just a wallet phone case. The vault one here is awesome! I never carry cash around. Only need my driver's license, corp cc, debit, and personal CC. (https://www.amazon.com/iPhone-6s-Wallet-Case-Protective/dp/B00N3K42BM/ref=zg_bs_9375357011_4)

I am thinking about getting a magnetically detachable leather wallet case to replace my daily wallet. I've seen a lot of people mentioning they might be getting the Amovo case which does look interesting, but the leather quality looks really cheap to me. Has anyone gotten the higher end Burkley wallet cases? If so, what's your experience with them; specifically what do you think about drop protection on just the case and how does it fit in your front pocket with the wallet?

I have this case in white. I think they have all the Nexus colors. The case is lightweight and the waking feature works great. The adhesive on the back wears after a few months but it is cheap enough to replace.

u/slack0ne · 1 pointr/nexus5x

I've got one and it doesn't work brilliantly. I think the Spiegen case I have might be a bit thick for the magnet to grab it well.

Combined with the fact that the vents in my car don't hold themselves firmly in position the phone has jumped off the mount a couple of times. I was tempted to return it, but resorted to finding a position where I could rest the base of the phone on the temperature dial and that seemed to help enough. Still don't really trust it though...

Another vote for the spigen - it's been working well for a few weeks now!

I took a dremel to it because my headphones have a chunky plug that wouldn't fit, but a little rounding out cleared that up without issue. I found the seam from the molding was a little sharp so I used a needle file to wipe it down, but that's probably just me being neurotic.
