Usually for ligament strains (like the PCL) they give a grade for the tear. Grade 1 is pretty minor strain, grade 2 is a partial tear, and grade 3 is a full tear of the ligament.
I had a grade 2.5+ almost full tear from a layout on turf in February of this year. I have a good PT and he instructed me to do as much quad strengthening as possible with closed kinetic chain exercises (your feet on the floor, as opposed to things like leg lifts). So lots of reps of single leg split squats, lunges, wall sits, step ups, etc. I also did some electrotherapy stuff that seemed to speed up the healing a bit (the brand of the machine is Bemer).
Even still, it was about 2 months before I was running again, 3 months back to playing, 4-5 months back to playing club level tournaments, and 6 months to feeling close to full speed. But if yours is a lower grade of tear you may be able to get back faster. Mine was just about as close to a full tear as you can get, but luckily I managed to avoid surgery and the long recovery that comes with that.
It's still really easy to re-injure though, especially with layouts and stuff. I'd recommend grabbing some kind of kneepad for that knee when you do start playing again, as that'll help with the impact a bit. I use this one: https://www.amazon.com/McDavid-Youth-Knee-Elbow-Black/dp/B01BD0DZKC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1502247255&sr=8-1&keywords=hex+knee+pad
Hope that helps, and good luck with the recovery!
Sk8 Hi Vans (great for ankle protection on the cranks). Bell Division Helmet. G-Form shin pads. I have Shadow Conspiracy Invisalite elbow pads, but don't ever use them. They're pretty much the same as the some generic foam knee pads I have, off amazon: https://www.amazon.com/McDavid-Youth-Knee-Elbow-Black/dp/B01BD0DZKC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1501884304&sr=8-2&keywords=hex+knee+pad
You can't really see it under my jeans and gives more confidence for pedal slips, and knee hitting the stem or falling to your knees. A hard plastic would be better but I have yet to find one that fits nicely under jeans (I am not about wearing them on the outside like it's the 90s, even though I long for those days and am from that era).
Did it last year, going again this year. Really the main thing you need is comfortable clothes that don't hold water. They don't have to be waterproof, and you don't need super expensive compression gear. But they should not hold water. Basically avoid cotton clothing like the plague. A regular microfiber shirt will work. Light shoes that do good on trails. These dry up quickly, so they won't weigh you down. As well especially with the shoes, good shoes won't hold onto mud either. I can tell you from experience when I used to use "throwaways." When you have a shit pair that holds onto mud and water you're running with cinder blocks attached to your feet. It gets exhausting right quick.
Last years shoes I was wearing Reebok RealFlex 2.0 which are great on trails, great at not holding water/mud. But they absolutely suck on walls. They have 0 traction when trying to climb over a wall. I can't get a kick up from them, and that bites. This year I'm trying the Reebok Wild Trails because I got them on sale for about $55. Plus they look to be almost identical to the new Reebok Trail Supers designed in part by/for Spartan Race. Only without the water ports built in.
I've heard great reviews for shoes from Inov-8. I haven't used them so I can't recommend which exact one would do well. They do cost a bit more than your average Nike/Reebok trail shoe, but then again it's likely getting what you pay for (quality). After all it's your feet. If it separates you from the ground it is worth investing into. Shoes. Tires. Mattress. You'll thank yourself in the long term.
It will be the end of may/start of june. It will be warm. Like 85-90* warm. Was last year, all sun no clouds. And it will be on ski slope. Meaning mountainous/rocky terrain. Do not expect a mud pit for the barbed wire crawl. It will not be that nice. It will be crawling over rocks. I bought these and they have been a life savers on the knees for this obstacle specifically. I've worn them to Tough Mudder, a few Spartans, Savage Race, Warrior Dash, Superhero Scramble too probably I forget all the ones now. They are still holding up like new, same pair. They look like they won't do shit with how thin they are, but they are surprisingly great. I swear by them after the first couple years getting tired of bruised and cut up knees since here in the North East Every. Single. Event. Is up and down a damn ski slope with more rocks than dirt.
Also, the course is only about 4 miles. Save the weight and skip on the Camelbak if you were thinking of using one. There will be a water station or two, as well as one at the end.
Shit this got longer than I originally anticipated.
TL;DR - Wear clothes that don't hold water (so avoid cotton). Good shoes, again that don't hold water, is a solid investment. Expect a shitload of rocks compared to mud, it is on the side of a mountain. I recommend those kneepads but they aren't mandatory. It's only 4 miles, skip the hydration pack you'll be fine.
It's too early to tell because this was just a teaser and no one really has any idea about its capabilities or functionalities. We just have to wait. But superficially, I don't find the shape particularly attractive as a watch face. Smartwatches in general seem somewhat ironic when the trend has been for smartphones with larger screens and then the big new thing is screen tinier than almost anything we've ever seen.
Smartwatches in general seem kind of antiquated, like inventing a VHS HD instead of a DVD. I am not a fan of Google Glass but at least they were trying something really new. This is supposed to be the future and it seems like a rehash of something people hardly even wear anymore. What would be cool is something like this but with a digital touchscreen. Perhaps it could be removeable and you could put it in a hardcase to be used like a traditional smartphone. You know, something new and far out there. I know we don't really have the technology for this but this is something people would get excited about.
Triple Eight ExoSkin Knee Pad
I have had these for about a month now and so far they have been the best I've tried yet. I spend a lot of time on my knees repairing things for work. I wear them daily and have been very happy with them so far. They fit comfortably, have a soft yet durable knee area, very breathable, and have Kevlar so they are abrasion resistant. They are so comfortable that I often times just leave them on all day. Makes it easier to get on the floor to play with dogs or small humans. I don't know how well they will work under tighter fitting pants but they are not all that bulky.
Other knee pads that I've tried and not liked so much are:
McDavid HexPad - I found that the padding on these gets compressed and eventually feels like I'm kneeling straight on the floor. Also they didn't breath well and ended up smelling like a locker room after a week or so.
AWP Non-Marring Polyester-Cap Knee Pads - I used these for a while but they ended up soaking up the sweat and smelled terrible in less than a week. Padding was ok but also had a habit of getting compressed or pushed to the sections that weren't getting knelt on.
I like these McDavid Hex pads. I bought the smaller elbow and have been using them. They are better with the gi on. When I use them with no gi they do tend to slide around and down a bit. They are super slim but give a lot of protection and move with you pretty well. I got them because they didn't go full knee which sometimes I don't like. But I did just buy a pair of full knee ones from the second link to try for no gi. Both pretty reasonable price. I started wearing them when I was getting some Osgood-Schlatter pain where my patellar tendon connects to my tibia.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003E3ZTIS/?coliid=I1U9PJGLGSAED9&colid=YA23UCACS64W&psc=0
https://www.amazon.com/McDavid-Volleyball-Basketball-Football-Contact/dp/B000UVXZ4C/ref=pd_sbs_200_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B000UVXZ4C&pd_rd_r=RJ3GNPTGG6DHNJN3MZPA&pd_rd_w=56J0q&pd_rd_wg=R71hD&refRID=RJ3GNPTGG6DHNJN3MZPA
I like the look of those mountain bike pads though.
If this is what you are referring to; then yes, these are going to be way too small for you. I'm not a big guy (5'6") and these were more like elbow pads for me.
You can easily construct one using cardboard or EVA foam. Drawing out the pattern for them should be pretty straight forward.
Check out some of the football shorts at Dicks/Amazon. I played Flag football for about 16 years before I switched to volleyball for my sports/competition outlet.
They are basically like compression shorts with some hex padding built in. Here is an example: https://www.amazon.com/TUOY-Compression-Protector-Football-Paintball/dp/B0177ED8LY/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1505736334&sr=8-11&keywords=football+shorts
I don't know if you'll be able to wear them in high school or not, but as I get older and want to stay active I'm always looking for ways to protect my body.
I personally wear some 3/4 leggings like these
https://www.amazon.com/DRSKIN-Tight-Compression-Pants-Running/dp/B01MG9EM1F/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?keywords=mr+skin+compression+pants&qid=1562251377&s=gateway&sprefix=mr+skin&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1
And then some knee pads like these
https://www.amazon.com/McDavid-Youth-Knee-Elbow-Black/dp/B01BD0DZKC/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=mcdavid+knee+pads&qid=1562251491&s=gateway&sprefix=mcda&sr=8-4
They breathe very well, and have saved my knees countless times.
I got these knee pads on Amazon for like $14 after my first fall like that, it's worth it. Already saved my knees once.
Bodyprox Protective Knee Pads https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L379FPE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_7XQ0Bb21B4EMT
Funny, i use my grappling cup holder that is almost like the item you provided and it works like a charm to sneak in plastic flask or "goodies" into concerts
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00181JD1W/ref=pd_aw_sbs_1/181-8592628-5222824?pi=SS115
Looks great! I recommend and use knee gaskets. Basically a knee brace with extra padding. Changed everything for me :-)
https://www.amazon.com/Burton-Basic-Knee-Black-Medium/dp/B00NBSYRBG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1479953674&sr=8-1&keywords=burton+basic+knee+pad
I like the shockdoctor cup and compression shorts combo on amazon. It fits me pretty well after some minor adjusting. http://www.amazon.com/Shock-Doctor-Power-Compression-BioFlex/dp/B00181JD1W
the jockstrap for shockdoctor is also pretty comfortable. I just don't like wearing them over my boxers. It tends to bunch them up
I tried using my shockdoctor cup in some mcdavid shorts and that was awful. The mcdavid cup pocket is ridiculously huge. The cup has so much slack in it it shifts around during rolls and ends up pinching my nuts a lot.
Mine are in the mail, hope they aren't too terrible. :/ Did you get the carbon or bioflex? Carbon seems to have the better reviews so I ordered those.
These flexible neoprene-like Knee pads should do the job nicely. While they won't be quite as protective as hard pads, they offer better protection than not having any on. Come in various colors, but be careful with sizing as they tend to fit a bit small/snug.
You could keep sucking off Apple or realize that we weren't talking about who was already doing it... also they (Apple) aren't event the first to do 7nm... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7_nanometer#Expected_commercialization_and_technologies
Again, thats not even the point here, this is about improving the process so its cheaper and more efficient than what we currently have. Now if you are going to keep ignoring facts that people point out. Then I suggest investing is some knee pads so your knees don't hurt while you're on them sucking off Apple... You can find a cheap pair here so you can keep saving and blindly giving more to Apple: https://www.amazon.com/Bodyprox-Protective-Anti-Slip-Collision-Avoidance/dp/B01L379FPE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1539883816&sr=8-1&keywords=knee+pads
Just recently got this McDavid for my bursitis on my knee that made it almost impossible to base on it. Works perfect. If you are on the heavier side I would recommend getting the with the shorter sleeve. The octagonal separation works so much better than a traditional knee pad.
When I played lacrosse, some people would wear stuff like this under their shoulder pads for extra protection with minimal sacrifice of mobility. Might be worth checking out.
I use one of these. I find that it works pretty well when I want to have extra padding without adding on my full shoulder/upper arm/elbow combo. YMMV.
McDavid Hex 5-Pad Sleeveless Shirt, Charcoal, Medium https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BN2IVAU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_VJY3DbGV5C8RK
WIth Lucario, I think part of it is that his hips kind of look like really baggy boxing shorts from certain angles.
Mewtwo, embarrassing honest opinion? I always sort of mentally saw him as having a dad bod wearing his old high school chest guard. Less proper hips, and more like the side effect of too many nights at the pub. Only it all went to his legs and guts instead of his upper body.
Hopefully you won't fall but it's all about time, especially if you ride it fast. Try to wear pads. They would've definitely prevented the wounds on my elbow and knees. I ordered these ones. http://www.amazon.com/McDavid-Hexpad-Elbow-Black-Small/dp/B000UVVYHW?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
https://www.amazon.com/SportsTrail-Sleeves-Women-Tatoo-Cover/dp/B07C4YJYY2/ref=zg_bs_9590773011_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=PJ40ETSME4FKSD76HBM0
I personally recommend, very cool and breathable
Spencer needs to go get a play callers wristband like this
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0069RE5PE/ref=pd_aw_sbs_4?pi=SY115&simLd=1
Then modify it so it works for Dan to write on.
I use these http://www.amazon.com/McDavid-6440-Hexpad-Knee-Elbow/dp/B000UVXZ4C They are so light and comfortable I forgot I have them on until I am on my knees! Check the other buyers before you order. I got mine for $16 because someone returned them.
these sleeves are excellent for daytime rides in Singapore (35+ C)
otherwise I use long sleeve jerseys
I not sure what kind of positions you are in but would something like this help your knees? You'll look ridiculous while you are walking around but it might save you some future knee pain
I also wear these over the top to protect my knees.. I've been getting 20-25 races out of a pair.. Also wear them when I just wear compression shorts on the course. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000UVZK0Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_yjDzDb9EKQ43B
I use these: https://www.amazon.com/Mcdavid-Volleyball-Basketball-Football-Contact/dp/B000UVXZ4C or something similar.
Also the cheap shooting mat from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/VISM-NcStar-Roll-Shooting-Mat/dp/B0174K9E8W I recommend that you go with tan or grey. Black gets too hot.
I'd suggest you hit a camping store and get some base layers and thick undershirts/pants. Also good wool socks. Also look for something like this. You can still wear gloves easily, but you won't lose dexterity when you throw on your disposables.
I ordered these guys a while back, I think when I was playing a lot of Onward, but they've come in very handy for quests and laser tag as well: https://www.amazon.com/Protective-Sponge-Anti-slip-Collision-Avoidance/dp/B01L379FPE/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1510687386&sr=8-3&keywords=knee+pads&dpID=51prWlW4WWL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch
The McDavid brand has excellent pads Link. Light and soft (so you can actually sit in seiza) and the tiny hexagon structure avoids material from going to the sides over time.
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B000UVXVZ0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
these are the ones i have if that helps
i'd invest in these and find a good spot with high foot traffic somewhere
You can try something like this or this. Poke around Amazon...there are tons of color choices.
Can you just wear something like this underneath?

I just ordered a pair of McDavid Knee Pads. I have not tried it out yet, but several of the reviews say they wear them for hockey, and one of them said they wear them under their bauer knee pads.
They are supposed to be cushioney, but not bulky. And supposidly they don't restrict movement.
