🎓 Reddit experts on garage storage system attachments
The comments and opinions expressed on this page are written exclusively by redditors. To provide you with the most relevant data, we sourced opinions from the most knowledgeable Reddit users based the total number of upvotes and downvotes received across comments on subreddits where garage storage system attachments are discussed. For your reference and for the sake of transparency, here are the specialists whose opinions mattered the most in our ranking.
you have a lot of options, but they all boil down to the question of whether you want to store your bike horizontally (e.g. holding the bike up by the top tube, like with this mount), or vertically (usually holding the bike by the front wheel, like this mount).
i prefer vertical mounts because they take less wall space, but it means stuff might tumble out of my saddle bag or panniers if i leave things in them when i mount my bike. i've gotten in the habit of removing these bags on my way into my apartment, but once in a while i forget. but horizontal mounts take up a relatively enormous amount of wall space. on the other hand, if you're proud of your bike, it can be a nice way to show it off i guess.
i use the vertical mount i linked above for my apartment, but my office has this track thing with some hooks and we can hold up 3 bikes in the 48" track (with the middle big upside down to avoid the handlebars knocking into each other). they're all pretty great, and i have no complaints except that you'll want to figure out what to do to protect the wall from the wheels sooner rather than later. even relatively smooth tires will start eating up the wall where they rest, if they're there without any protection.
there are also more aesthetically themed mounts both on the horizontal and vertical sides of things. i tend to prefer understated kind of industrial looks, though, so the white metal hook really pleased me and i didn't save links to other products i saw.
the major takeaway is (i hope) that you have tons of dimensions to work out, and most of them are personal preference. if you don't have any wall space, then horizontal mounts might be out of the question, but beyond those sorts of things, as long as you have a stud you can mount just about whatever you want. road bikes aren't very heavy, and the load they put on a properly installed wall mount almost certainly won't be a problem.
so just look for something you like that has a good handful of believable reviews (there are chrome extensions and stuff that can analyze reviews for false reviews, which is unfortunately a thing). you can also find really inventive designs on etsy and stuff, which will give you inspiration for what qualities to look for (material, size, color, etc...) if nothing else.
I just installed one for my garage 10 days ago!
A few things that I learned:
I have a huge stockpile of phone tools from ordering phone parts from Amazon, but my favorite tool to use is one that I found at Wal-Mart. It is a 90 degree metal pick made by Stanley, and it is perfect for unhooking clips and antenna cables and even does well for prying. I use it to unhook everything after the battery of course...http://www.amazon.com/Stanley-82-115-Piece-Hook-Set/dp/B000FBQEQ8
I have no idea why headphone stands are so expensive...
The cheapest and best looking option I have found for a headphone stand is using those Fast Track stands that are meant for hanging stuff up in the garage.
You can buy one here and here.
Here is a thread with pictures
I have a couple recommendations though. I cut up the plastic outer casing of a cd case to fit the width of the top railing. This gives it a nice curvature and supports the headphone band and foam better. It also doesn't leave indents on the foam. I glued the plastic to the stand and then got some spray paint and painted it black. It looks really nice. I have three stands.
I'm not at home, but can take pictures later if anyone wants to see what they look like.
I love geartrack channel and bins

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000Q38P7Q/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The bins stack together well and also fit in the track. The bins will slide left and right. I put all my brass in the bins and stack them up on shelves. I have the track screwed to the front of my bench. When i reload i pull the brass bin that im reloading, attach it to the track as well as an empty for bullets, and have stable easy access to brass and bullets.
Here's the base model.
Yeah I'm pretty sure it is a ladder rack. The Home Depot didn't have the bike hook I wanted so I went for something that worked equally as well.
I just use a wall hanger [kinda like this one] (http://www.amazon.com/Rubbermaid-FastTrack-Organization-Horizontal-FG5E03DWSNCKL/dp/B0009J5NT0/ref=sr_1_7?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1407806538&sr=1-7)(but it screws into the wall). The bike is far enough from the wall to pedal, mounted at the right height to do some work, high enough to be comfortable, and it doubles as storage. Well within your budget. But quite uninteresting to build.
I've never assembled an internet bike, but it shouldn't be too hard. [GCN made a video] (http://youtu.be/M3UIIz8cVms) that shows how to do it, though it probably depends on where you get the bike. Getting the headset and stem properly tightened is the hardest part. But beware that internet bikes wildly vary in quality --you definitely get what you part for there.
I'm hoping to collect a bunch of sets of these for my house. Definitely a need because I have SO much stuff that I have to keep that has NO storage space to go into. My house is over 100 years old and I'm just guessing they didn't need to store anything here! So my laundry room is a wreck, full of outdoor stuff and laundry room stuff. My basement is all on the floor in piles. And my bathroom has nowhere to put towels or toilet paper at and there's a tiny crevice I can add storage into to give a spot for towels and toilet paper. This set comes with 6 and the first set I get will be going in the bathroom. Maybe my kittens will stop chewing the toilet paper if it's in a bin instead of on the floor too!
This is something I'd like to have just because my last bracelet broke and I think this one is pretty and simple, great for when I'm at work too and matches a few new dresses I bought recently.
Oh, you guys look b-e-a-utiful.
C'mon...gimme.
I use this.

You tilt that baby upright and you have a nice plastic base with a top that looks like it was built to hold headphones.
he could have paid a fab shop to make them, but screwdriver holders will serve the same function.
here's a DIY version, you'll just need to drill the proper diameter to accomodate your brushes
here's one that's ready to use: Screwdriver Storage
Is this the hook that he and you both used? It looks interesting and was wondering if it would be good for daily usage.
Rubbermaid FastTrack Hose Hook - It works beautifully. Beware! It will not work for full sized Audio Technica headphones (AD700, W5000). It will work for the m50 though.($15)
Audio-Technica's Headphone Stand (~$64)
Cases
Hippocases - for small amp and headphone storage
Not much to add that others haven't already, except that if you're looking for a sturdy, tough-looking headphone stand, I dug up a Rubbermaid Hose Hook that works perfectly.
For those with deskspace a Rubermaid Hose Hook. Ok ok so it's a $11 dollars, but it makes a cool, easyish to find in-store, affordable headphone/headset stand.
Sounds like they need something like this:
WallPeg Garage Storage System with Panels, Bins, Peg Board Hooks and Panel Set - Tool Parts and Craft Organizer (Kit with 18 Bins) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077RHJ68D/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_cuv-BbKFGM37Q
I would guess something like this would help
https://www.amazon.com/BESTOMZ-Stainless-Oblong-Staple-U-shaped/dp/B077SXDT8Z/ref=asc_df_B077SXDT8Z/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=241976064143&hvpos=1o5&hvnetw=g&hvrand=12893477153004771352&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9004326&hvtargid=pla-437242994551&psc=1
But make sure it is mounted into the beam and not the drywall
You can get some spring hooks ;)
It's MUCH easier with this and will save you "the conversation" with your child of why daddy is using some bad words from time to time.

I like to use a gearwall geartrack and the twin hook, although there are other gearwall hooks. I actually use the whole board because I have a few rifles that I keep up.
This + This x 6 = Happy
I think that's a key ring hanger. Something like this.
As for the Cobra buckle belt, check out actual gun belt manufacturers like Ares Armor, SOE Gear, 5.11 and Snake Eater Tactical just to name a few off the top of my head. Literally hundreds of manufacturers.
These? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072NRX618/
And it works better than guitar pegs? I might try it
For the hose, just use a garden hose hanger and for the accessories use a hanging basket.
Mount them on the inside of the closet door where you're storing your vacuum and you're good to go!
I have a drop ceiling and bought some hangers that twist onto the metal grid.
The first set of hooks, I didn't like. They roughed up the tiles.
These I liked more. Then I got some small plastic S hooks for easy take down, hang back up.
A shelf with some wedges on the actual shelves to angle the sticks so the art is more visible?
If you want to display the art directly, maybe consider something like these hooks?
Disclaimer - I'm still trying to decide if this is a good idea or not.... (I'm open to feedback...)
I found these overhead storage hooks on Amazon and am trying them out on the underside of my exposed garage ceiling joists:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009WG6MK/
Last weekend, I hung 10 of these (in two parallel rows of 5) from 5 ceiling joists. I did a test and I can hang and do pullups off of one of the hooks (I weigh 150 lbs). I have them loaded between 40-50lbs each. So call it an additional load of 100lbs per joist. These hangers seem sturdy though they do make me a little nervous. This weekend I'm going to add some nylon webbing safety straps which should protect me against a failure of the hangers or their screws.
FWIW, my inspiration for this was coming across this article on overhead lumber storage:
http://www.finewoodworking.com/2011/04/17/free-plan-overhead-lumber-rack
Yes, that's the newer version, I think I have two of those and two of the older (bigger) version of it, plus one of the horizontal variants.
I ordered this Rubbermaid FastTrack Garage Storage System Hose Hook over 5 years ago and haven't regretted it since. I have one at home for my gaming headset and one at work for my Audio Technica m50x's. The rubber edge where you place the hose works well as a base and you just put the headband of the headphones on the up turned plastic piece.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009J5NUY
Turn this hose bracket on its side like this: http://i52.tinypic.com/riyyd4.jpg
Something like these. https://www.amazon.com/Shepherd-Hardware-8088E-Storage-Utility/dp/B01J60GP58/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_469_bs_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=VV65C33TT3K1Z6C30SZ3
I have this set up with bike mounts
It works well and you can change the spacing, as needed. I have other hooks in between the bikes to hold my helmet, air hose, etc.
The bikes do stick out, but, the use of LF of space is maximized. I am able to squeeze five bikes and two cars into a typical two car garage.
I use these cables:
Cable Matters SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Type A Male to Female Extension Cable in Black 10 Feet https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C7SA21U
AmazonBasics High-Speed Male to Female HDMI Extension Cable - 10 Feet https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01D5H91KE
And these clips on my basement drop ceiling:
Outus 100 Pack Ceiling Hook for Drop Ceilings https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01J7HVOQU
Works well for me so far. Haven't been wrenching on my cables/video card like I was (on occasion) before purchasing them.
https://www.amazon.com/Rubbermaid-FastTrack-Horizontal-Bike-Rack/dp/B0009J5NT0
My Google Image Search powers are telling me it's a modified Rubbermaid FastTrack 5E12 Hose Hook.
Pfff... that's nothing. Check this one out:
http://www.amazon.com/Rubbermaid-5G76-FastTrack-Rail-48-Inch/dp/B000LXA9WA/ref=sr_1_3?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1397667751&sr=1-3&keywords=rubbermaid

4 times more expensive in Canada. It's absurd.
I just bought these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01J60GP58/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s05?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I was planning to use the 7.5in hooks to sit the headset on with the 3.25in ones to hold the strap as a backup in case the big ones fail, then the 5in ones to hang the Touch controllers.
Unfortunately, The Rift is in my living and I don't want to expose it to light, so the 7.5in ones will still be used to sit it on, but the 3.25 ones will now be for the nose as a backup.
I got the idea after someone said they use a guitar wall mount for theirs.
